How to Respond to This System Diagnostic Report?

Q: How to Respond to This System Diagnostic Report?

I ran the System Diagnostics Report that is generated in Computer Management under Performance--Data Collector Sets--System?System Diagnostics. Here is a screenshot summary of the results (the full System Diagnostic Report is 123 pages long).

My system appears to be running fairly smoothly so I was surprised by these results. No other programs were running during the test. The UEFI diagnostic shows no hardware problems and I doubt that all of the poor results are valid.

Someone at Microsoft said that incompatibility issue(s) might cause these results. However, they would give me no further insights and said I would have to pay to have them figure it out. In another forum, I was told that the results are just Windows internal reporting and to ignore them. However, this makes no sense.

There are two Abnormally Stopped System Services: Interactive Services Detection (UIODetect) and Windows Encryption Provider Host Service (WEPHOSTSVC). What should be the settings for these services?

Question: How can I determine what, if anything, is conflicting with the diagnostic test?

Question: Could the problem be a flaw in the diagnostics test itself, rather than any problems with my system?

Question: If there really are some issues, how can they be resolved?

I hope that someone can help me understand what to do with these results. I would be happy to share the full diagnostics report as well as the associated system performance report.

I have run a w7 home premium system diagnostic report which contains a couple of errors and warnings. I dont really understand what the errors mean or what to do about them.

Having looked at my event viewer I see many errors and warnings listed, again I dont know what these mean or if I need to do anything.

Is there anybody out there prepared to take a look at these for me and tell me if i need to do anything. If so please tell me how to save and post the info and I will gladly do so.

Thanx

A:System diagnostic report

What specific errors are you seen in the diagnostic report?

Regarding Event Viewer:

If I spent 10 minutes investigating each different error found in Event Viewer, I would never have time to eat or sleep. If you can't or won't ignore most of them, you are destined to have a full time job, working for EV.

I look at it maybe once a year and would never look there if my system was running well.

After running the System Health Report from here;

System Health Report

......at the System Diagnostic Report, I get a warning advising that the scan failed to detect running anti-virus, anti-spyware etc. protection, here -

......and yet at Start>Control Panel>Security Centre, all protection requirements are shown as up and running, here -

......is there any way that I can get the scan to recognise the Security protection setup, and so include it in the System Diagnostic Report?

I've had no problems with viruses, malware or spyware. This is purely an administrative issue to try and get the System Diagnostic Report to give a true account of the system.

A:System Health [Diagnostic] Report doesn't recognise avast! anti-virus, as installed.

Same here. If it doesn't recognise Norton 360 I think its a glitch. If security centre is satisfied then all is fine, otherwise it would be complaining.

I am helping a friend try to regain his touch screen capabilities.  He seems to think that the windows 10 upgrade stopped it working.  I have run the Hardware Diagnostic Test (F2 on boot) and run the component check for touch screen.  There is no response to touching the screen.   This test is UEFI which I presume runs before any OS is loaded.  The display works fine otherwise.  Is there a way to know if this is a motherboard problem?  I can't find anything in the BIOS that relates to touch screen, and I can't get a log report for the diagnostic test because I can't start the test ... it just times out and the log says cancelled.  Is there a separate connector from display to motherboard for touch screen that may have come loose?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to know if MS removed the system health report feature from performance monitor.
If so how do you start a system health report in Windows 10, it seems to differ from Windows 7
where you can find in advanced tools "Generate a system health report" ? Thanks!

Hello,

first thing I hope I'am in the right area to post my problem, I have a problem with the system diagnostics report on my pc.  I have done all I know to do.  I ran a system report and health report and the error message says the security center has not recorded an anti-virus product.

Verify that an anti-virus product is installed and functioning, configure security center and anti virus status.

I have checked the anti virus on my pc and says is up to date and says in the security section that all is on and connected.

I don't know what else to do. I have tried to find a solution in windows website.

Thanks for reading

I am looking for a "1 stop shop" program that will do a detailed scan of my entire system and locate any problems or opportunities and suggest how to correct them or what may be the cause of the error or slowdown. Freeware would be great, but I don't mind paying for it if it is worth the money.
Any suggestions?

I have applied some changes on my PC through the group policy(gpedit.msc), for example, disabling "Hide Desktop Tab" under the Display setting in the Control Panel section, but everything seemed to remain the same and the "Desktop" tab in the Display Properties also didn't appear as expected.

Another problem is that I had applied the "Restore Default" in the "General" tab of Folder Options, but when I open it again, all the options still remained the same as the original(before I restore default).

What's the problem?

Hi,

decided to run a system diagnostic on my Dell PC today - just because it had never been done on this particular PC. Received a msg telling me Microsoft .Net Framework 4 Full would be required in order to install the Dell Diag. We have the lesser version .Net Framework 4 Client Profile. Was about to install the full version over top of Client Profile when it occurred to me that perhaps there was a better System Diagnostic tool out there anyway.

In fact it looks like there are quite a few. So I am here for recommendations. Would prefer not to pay for one if possible but certainly don't want to be cheap since this is our primary PC. Or should I install the Full Version of .Net Framework 4 & stick with the Dell diag?

Perhaps a little more info:

I ran something called Free PC Health Scan on the Dell website which then called into play iolo System Mechanic & it found a number of issues. Two items removed from startup which I already knew about & was going to remove myself when was certain there would be no negative repercussion. But what concerns me:

1) are the over 100 registry entries it flagged - I do run CCleaner several times throughout the week to remove old/left over/invalid registry entries. But apparently iolo found around 104 that need to be removed? & yes I know we're not supposed to muck about with registry but have been letting Norton, McAfee & CCleaner do their thing for a number of years now & to my knowledge have not damaged... A:Dell System Diagnostic, or something else?

Dell used to have hardware diagnostics on the hard drive, accessed by F12 at power on? Have they stopped that?

However, all the "repair" programs such as System Mechanic and the one advertised on TV, etc that fix and speed up your PC and remove hundreds of registry entries are very suspect. Most techies compare them to "snake oil".

Ccleaner has a registry scanner program, if you really want to do that. Its the least intrusive.

Is there a way to gauge a PC system's gaming ability?

Since video cards and add-on programs (Direct X, etc) are so fundamental to game play, if would be nice to have a utility that would give a yes or no on the question "Will this game work on my computer?"

Bottom line is I don't know if my PC is 3D, GL rendering or what anymore since video card evolution is non-stop. A utility program to scan the computer's capability would help.

A:System Diagnostic Utility

That's actually built into Directx.

Go to Start, Run type in dxdiag and hit enter.

If that doesn't work, then do a search on your system for dxdiag and open it when you find it.

I have a question on why my system seems to be so slow. I look at the front and the "thinking" light is always on. even when i am not doing anything. I get in to the Task manager and under the processes tab it says "System Idle Process" cpu=96%. My cpu is constanly running at 100%. but the system idle process is only using 20K of memory. Is there a way to stop it all togeaher or at least free up some CPU? Thank ya'll

Hi

I have a dell desk top PC that is a few years old.

I am running McAfee Security and it is current. I am doing another scan now.

My system is running VERY slow and sometimes will not respond at all. If I reboot it is a little better but not for long.

I had a virus once before and I was able to remove it with your help. I am afraid I have something like that again.

I had to reregister as I do not remeber my username from last time.

Can you help me?

Thank you

I'm using windows XP 5.1, I have a sony vaio vgn fe 770g and use internet explorer 8.0 and firefox 8.0. The search on both will not pull up the page, need to highlight the browser and click on it to open. I uninstalled firefox.

I did a backup, then ran spybot S&D and super anti spyware, then tried to do a system restore and it does not respond. I have cleaned the registry, defragged and ran clean-up 3.0.

I do not have a windows XP disk, would like to reair systems restore. Worst case, Sony provides a system restore if I have to.

Thanks.

hey, a friend reccomended me this website after he tried to help me get rid of this problem himself, but everything he tried hasn't gotten rid of the issues.

last night i was on my machine (windows xp) and it threw a few warning boxes up, then it shut down. i turned it back on and all the icons on my desktop were gone, and one of those fake virus scanners started running, calling itself system diagnostic. it's also hidden everything in my program files (except if i download something new)

so i've tried all the usual fixes (according to friend) which was running rkill, then malware bytes and super anti spyware. both find errors and apparently remove them, but on system restart the problem still occurs. also when these programs say the virus is gone, the desktop icons and program files are still gone. something which i read will return after this virus is deleted.

help?

I have a Acer Aspire One 722 netbook and there are times when the system hangs and does not respond. The cursor does not move and there is NO option to "Restart Windows Explorer"( a common option when your system hangs). I am waiting for this to show (about 10 mins) but nothing happens. Only a beeping sound is heard from my system but it does not came from the inside of the laptop but from the audio speaker. The only thing I would do is to restart it manually(by pushing the restart button). Now my files had not been saved. But, fortunately the unresponsive instances does not happen every time I switch on my netbook. Any suggestions or comment about this.

it says that the error fixes itself when i restart my comp which i did a few times. i am puzzled at why this is showing up and worried it might fry my computer. my desktop gave me a black screen saying drive failure was imminent and my laptop is all i have left, and can not afford another one. so please tell me how i can solve this problem if i can. thank you!

A:norton 360 operating system diagnostic puzzle

Norton 360 is anti-virus/security software and your question has nothing to do with that, so why is that in the title? Am I missing something?

Hard Drive Failure is imminent message is usually from SMART and frequently it is correct meaning that the hardware of the hard drive is failing (not the software). That might also explain chronic hard drive errors that are "fixed" and then reoccur at reboot.

If the desktop only boots to black screen then how did you get the text of the error message (above)?

What happens when you turn the desktop on?

Is the laptop also broke? If so, start a separate thread for that, otherwise things will get VERY confusing.

Hi,

I have a Toshiba a200 Satellite laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit (which I recently installed as a fresh install to try and solve my problems). I have several problems, and I'm not sure if they are related or seperate to each other. Here they are:

Often, when I am away from the computer, even if it's only for a few minutes, when I come back it is frozen -- the screen looks normal, but the mouse won't move and the system won't respond to Ctrl + Alt + Delete. I have to hold down the power button until it goes black, and then reboot.
Often when I reboot, and almost always when I boot up for the first time of a morning, the computer fails to start -- it will get to a black screen and freeze forever, or it will freeze on the "Windows is Starting Up" screen, and I will have to hold down the power button again to shut it off. It will usually start after the second or third time.
Sometimes, firefox (and sometimes other programs too) stops responding for about 30 seconds, and then comes back fine. It's not that bad, but it seems a bit odd. This is just a minor annoyance -- the other two problems are more worrying.
I've attached a zipped folder containing the reports from the SF Diagnostic Tool.

I hope someone can help me. I'd be really grateful.

Thanks,

Matt

EDIT:
Not sure if this will help, but the system has frozen twice in the past few hours, and this error occured both times in the event viewer:

Hello to whomever responds to this thread. This is the first time I've used one of these help forums and my knowledge of computer lingo is limited, but I'd be greatful if you could help me with this problem.

A little while ago I downloaded an application which turned out to be a 'trojan', or so I believe. Upon opening it I received an error report, and my antivirus program (Symantec) informed me that several items with .trojan in their name had been detected and deleted. I was also advised to reboot my computer, and after doing so I became aware of a little red shield icon in my system tray. Clicking it brings up a question which reads:

"Would you like to update your security software and download System Live Protect?"

I have not clicked yes because I believe this may be a problem. Furthermore, whenever I open Internet Explorer, there is an error report: "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I am unsure as to whether these two problems are related, but that is my suspicion. Is there anything that can be done?

Thanks for reading

Hello, randomly my main disk goes to 100% usage and either
1 Stops the system responding for 10-30 seconds
2 Refuses to let me switch programs without a freeze

This 100% usage occurs for 10-30 seconds. This issue started occuring 4 days ago and has happened 5 times. This issue has also happened on Windows 10

I have looked in the event logs and found this
Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued. As well as Reset to device, \Device\ACHIPort0, was issued.

A:Harddrive randomly goes to 100% and system doesn't respond

Open a Command Prompt (it is at Programs>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt) right click on it and select "run as administrator" then type in "Chkdsk C: /f /r" (without the quotes). This will scan the hard disk for errors and try to relocate any data on bad sectors.

Upon booting up my laptop, everything seems fine at first. In Firefox, a single click used to change tabs, now it requires a double click. This type of change has also appeared in other programs, so it seems to be a system problem not just a Firefox problem.

Is there somewhere in Win 7 settings where I can set programs to respond to single click rather than double click?

Hello all. I'm currently talking to you from Safe Mode in Windows 7 32 bit.

I've been running Windows 7 for quite some time now and I haven't run across any hiccups like with the previous versions of Windows... until now.
I recently bought a copy of Star Craft 2 from Gamestop. Doing this allows you to be in the beta program... so I figured "Oh, good stuff".

I tried to patch the program and I received an error during the patch process. To make a long story short, Blizzard informed me that I should run the Windows 7 memory diagnostic tool to make sure that my RAM wasn't at fault, using the extended test. I figured "Ok, no problem".

I ran the tool, selected "Save work and restart the system".

The tool loads up and starts to run with 1 pass with a "basic" check. I realized after about 10 minutes into the check that I could hit F10 and change the options. I hit F10, changed the test to Extended and hit continue. The screen refreshed VERY slowly with the updated changes, except the progress went from 10% complete to look like "_%" for every spot that could have a % at it.

I thought that was odd, so I hit the Exit button.

The system rebooted.

The system started to hang at the BIOS POST screen a little longer that it usually does... normally it only stays there about 2-3 seconds... it now stays there for around 10-15 seconds.

The Windows 7 logo starts to load and then freezes half way through loading graphic. The system han... Read more

Sometimes after boot up I can't click on anything on desktop. Like everthing just froze, except I can normally move mouse pointer and make right click on the desktop background. But if I pick ctrl-alt-del, and click anywhere inside this window, it's like "unfroze" the system and after that everything works fine.

Anybody has an idea what causes this strange behaviour?

OS is win XP SP2

I'm running Win7 x64 on a 1-month old i7-970 system with 12 GB RAM. The OS and apps are on an SSD while my data are on a 2-disk RAID 1. Everything was working normally until two or three days ago. Now, whenever I boot, the boot goes normally until the desktop loads. Then, while I can click on apps to start them, they don't respond for 3 - 5 minutes, and then are barely responsive once they're running, for another 3 - 5 minutes, after which everything suddenly starts behaving normally. During this pokey time my CPU monitors indicate very little CPU activity (< 15% on one core). If I try to run task manager to see what might be causing the problem, it's as slow as everything else, taking several minutes to load and then not displaying any processes. In fact, I know the system is "stable" when the processes appear in it. I've done a system restore to a 1-week-old restore point (from before this behavior appeared), but it didn't fix it.

The behavior started after (though not immediately after, maybe two or three boots after) updating my display driver (Nvidia Quadro 4000). I rolled back the driver to the previous version, but the problem remains.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks.

Does it do the same thing when you boot into safe mode (F8)? If not it is probably a driver conflict

I am planning to get 2 new computers running Windows 7. I want to do everything right now to prepare for inevitable times when things go wrong.

There are several products on the market both free and paid-for that will take a system image and restore it. Win 7 itself has a built in system image function but I believe it’s pretty ordinary and extremely slow at backing up.

That’s not to say I want an extraordinarily complicated-feature product either.

I just want something that will backup my entire disc including operating system, MBR etc without me having to tell it what is what to the nth degree (i.e. as straight-forward user friendly as possible), that doesn’t need me to go fiddling around changing partition sizes or drive letter names etc etc….

However I do have a question to do with partitions and restoring. Let’s say you had a 500GB drive with 150Gb date on it and backed it up. You get a new drive that is 400GB. (unlikely I know but for the purpose of the exercise…)…will there be a problem putting back the 150Gb data from the 500Gb image because the new drive is only 400Gb? Is this sort of thing not possible, or possible but only with changing settings of partitions in the restore process? And I presume the answer to this is also dependent upon the software used? Same scenario, but restoring to a larger drive? That’s only about as complicated as I think I could get with having to fiddle with partitions.

I want to store this on a USB external drive rather th... Read more

I started experiencing issues on my computer today.  The first thing I noticed was that my power system tray icon was missing.  I looked to make sure that it was set to display and despite checking that was set to display, the icon was missing.  At this time, I was at a hotel and wasn't attempting to connect to the internet.

When I got home this evening, my computer would not load a web page despite the fact that my connection icon stated that I was connected to my home wireless connection.  I troubleshot the problem and it states that "The Diagnostics Policy Service is not running." I performed a google search of how to start the policy service and it appears to be enabled.  At this point, I ran a system restore.  The system restore brought back my power system icon, but did not resolve the connectivity issue.

Please help.  Also, just to save time - if I need to restart my computer in safe mode will you please explain how.  I attempted to do it and couldn't figure out how to get it to work in Windows 8.  I'd heard it was difficult and confirmed it tonight.  Thank you in advance for any advice.

At Start type in "perfmon /report" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
It'll give you all sorts of information about the system and any problems that it detects.

FWIW - you can also get to it by going to: Start...Control Panel...System and Maintenance...Performance Information and Tools...Advanced Tools...Generate a System Health Report

There's lot's of other good stuff located in Advanced Tools (such as the Performance Details portion of Event Viewer).

In November I cleanly installed Win7 Ultimate on my machine and all has been great but for the fact that I am not able to generate a system health report anymore. I get the attached error. I cannot understand this as all the other monitoring aspects work fine: I can monitor power usage, defrag, etc but I can't generate the system health report. Is it possible that a registry cleaning recently messed up a driver?

I apologize that I can't provide anymore details- I did do a system restore yesterday thinking that maybe a Windows Update perhaps interfered with this but it didn't make any difference. I wonder if anyone has a thought or suggestion for me that might help. Thank you so very much.

A:System Health Report

Hello Lizzybee,

Welcome to Seven Forums.

If you don't have any older restore points to try, then I would try this. SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If that doesn't work, then you might try this. Repair Install

Although I'm not positive that the reg cleaner caused this problem, I recommend against the use of registry cleaners as they often cause more trouble than good unless you know exactly what is being deleted.

Hope this helps.

Hi Forum,
Regarding above I am getting two notifications that I should like advice on:

(1) Missing Events in Events Log amounting to 16% lost.
(2) Keep being informed that Windows cannot find a working Anti-virus system even
though one is up and running. I cannot seem to be able to configure the System to
stop checking this status.

I suppose neither are critical since my system is working perfectly and I
am not particularly concerned. But I should like to remove these notifications by
rectifying what is causing them. Help appreciated.

Probably nothing to be concerned over. It is only a list of events, tasks, errors that windows has encountered. Were you looking for something specific?
But it would be a good idea to sacn with Malwarebytes and Super AntiSpyware, see links in my sig. Update each and do a FULL scan.

I just created a batch file for a colleague at work, for a System Health Report on Windows 8.1, like the one in Seven. It's a Zip folder with a shortcut and instructions also. I did it this way so he doesn't always have to do it manually in a command prompt, just double click the shortcut(Admin privileges).

Since it's "hidden" in Windows 8 and not accessible under the Advanced Tools window (which doesn't exists anymore)> "Generate a System Health Report", I thought I'd share with anyone else that's interested...

I am running Vista SP2 Home Premium and I get a message every time I run system health reports. It says I have no Antivirus or Malware running on my system.
I have Avast 4.8 as the Antivirus and for spy/malware protection Spybot, Malwarebytes and Spyware Blaster.
For a while the security center ALSO reported no Antivirus/Malware protection. Resovled this issue by reinstalling Avast and rebuilding the /Windows/System32/WBEM/Repository folder by deleting it (temp stopping the WMI in services) and reboot.
but the health report still says no antivirus or malware programs detected.
System Center looks normal.
Been doing googling on the issue and seems that some vendors such as Norton have said this is a possible bug with both Win7 and Vista. Probably due to a bad windows update (the monthly ones). Makes since because this issue started not too long ago.
It's not a biggie but I like having my system healthy and smooth
Any other people had this happen?? If not, I recommend trying the health report (in Control Panel - Performance Info and tools - Advanced tools - Generate System Health report) for the rec I use control panel in Classic View.

It is likely that D: is a partition used by the computer manufacturer to store restore files or diagnostic files. If it is then don't mess with it and ignore the error.

Hi,Just ran this test and i get an error on "hardware device and drivers check".
Is this something to worry about?laptop seems to be running fine.
Thanks in advance for any help.

A:Generate system health report error?

Without knowing anything about the testing program, I'd say don't worry.

You could look in device manager and see if it reports any driver issues (yellow exclamation marks).

If all of your hardware and software is running as expected, it's tough to get worried based on such a report.

In system upgrade won't run, it report it can not install 64 bit on 32bit and vice versa.
I know 100% it is a win7 pro x64 version and computer properties also claims this.
The history is that a week ago I notice most updates has fails since 17 june 2011,
But now I get notificed! I tryed to download these MS update fixes, I tried to clean update history etc. But update keeps failing. I read Binck turial 3413 about using in system upgrade to repair, I have the original install DVD. But the upgrade reports I cannot install 64 bit on 32 bit and vice versa, actually both message in the x64 try.
I tryed disable all non MS services using msconfig including my NOD32 antivirus doing the in system upgrade. I have loads of programs it will take many hours to reinstall and configur all programs to put data on a separate partion as I require.
All my tryes have made it crash when I should go into sleep, but I can still do a normal boot. Should I try in save mode?
Any other way ?

A:In system upgrade won't run, report it can not install 64 bit on 32bit

Tryed in safe mode, got the same two messages plsu the message can not upgrade in safe mode

Good morning. I am a first time poster (with not much tech experience). I just generated a General System Health Report on my HP Pavilion DV6 x64 bit laptop.

Under the results, I receive the following Warnings/Error

Symptom: A service is reported as having an unexpected error code

Cause: One or more services has failed. The service did not stop gracefully, suggesting the service may have crashed or one of its components stopped in an unsupported way.

Details: Service exited with code not equal to 0 or 1077

Resolution: Restart the service

Symptom: The Workstation service has stopped abnormally.

Cause: Application Error. Exit code 1077.

Resolution: Restart the service

Could you please advise me as to what this means and how I can fix it? Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide me.

David

A:General System Health Report Error - Please Help

Hi David, and welcome to vistax64.

First, please enter your system specs in the lower left portion of your window.

Then, go to c:\windows\minidump , zip the dump file (*.dmp) and upload it to us we can help.

When you receive the warning, is the system rebooting? Blue Screen?

Can anyone help me? On Vista SP1, when I run the Generate System Health Report inside Reliability and Performance Monitor, it "collects data" for the 60 seconds and then gives me an error box as follows:

"An error occurred while attempting to generate the report:
The wait for the report generation tool has timed out."

Can anyone help me solve this? I would like to use the system health report feature. Thanks in advance.

hello, my name is chris jones.

Simply put. I turned on my PC. Windows 7 said 'Windows failed to Load'. I remember something about a system file was corrupted and WIN7 was attempting to fix it. After about 10 mins it started up.

I believe that the pc restored itself to a previous state.

I would like to find out what caused the need to restore the machine in the first place. So, Does Windows 7 keep a log/report that holds any information that i can look at?

------ THE COMPLEX VERSION ------

My Problem:-

THURSDAY:-

- I installed 'Republic - The Revolution'.
- Auto System restore point Made (labeled 'Republic - The Revolution').
FRIDAY, 11:00 AM. PC Turned on as normal.

- I installed 'Black'n'White and Creature Isle', 'Turok' and 'Universe at War'.
- I updated Diablo 2 from V1.07 to v1.12.

I played Diablo 2 for about 14 Hours Straight. At about 3:00 AM i went to bed leaving the PC on.
SATURDAY, 11:00 AM. I sat down at my computer and installed 'Brothers in Arms - Earned in Blood'. Once it had finished installing, a prompt said that 'StarForce Protection requires a restart to finalize the installation'.

I went ahead with the restart. It restarted correctly up until the windows 7 screens pops up. Windows 7 informed me that 'the computer failed to start'. The computer then spent about 10 mins fixing the problem. Once it started up i noticed a few things.

- Desktop Icons reverted to where they were on Thursday.
- A small program called Diablo 2 Hero Editor executabl... Read more

A:Does WIN7 keep a log/report of what caused a system restore?

starforce is mainly incompatible with most hardware, and windows 7, I don't recommend to install that software to anyone.
My syster had horse/pony game with starforce protection. after I installed it I immediately throw away the disc into the trash can. Wasted money.

But ontopic, yes, win7 does keep track of crashes, search for .dmp files and check you application error report logs, should be easy to find.

A:Generate System Health Report Problem

Problem solved. For those having same issue: For whatever reason the "Generate System Health Report" function inside the Advanced Feature of Reliability and Performance module does not work properly. The graphic and detail is actually generated, but is not able to be displayed as a REPORT. To generate a system health report, you must set up a "USER DEFINED" data collection set.
Once a user defined data collection is set up, start the data collection and when it stops (at whatever duration you previously choose) the graphic monitor and html report will be available to view under User Defined Reports.

Since apparently they removed the Performance and Information Tools section of the Windows 8.1 Control Panel, I haven't been able to find a way to generate a System Health Report.
Anyone got a good guide on how to generate one? Or did they remove the capability of generating one? I know I had one in 8 but I upgraded to 8.1 and nope. No section for it? D:

OK, lets see if we can get this one to work next

Seems to be quite common out there.

I run the application and get the little timer saying its working for 60 seconds then it fails and gives the error message:

A:Generate a system health report does not work

Take a look at C:\Perflogs. See what is in that folder.

As a test, rename C:\Perflogs to C:\Perflogs-save then create a new C:\Perflogs.
Try the health report, see if it works now.

Every time I run System Diagnostics it collects the data for 60 seconds and then I am asked do I want to open or save this file:

report.html.

If I save or open it I am greeted with a blank webpage saying navigation cancelled and the System diagnostic screen still says generating report

Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Check in event viewer by typing eventvwr in search. Look in windows logs, application tab.

You are looking for critical errors (they have red in the left column) that have app hang, app crash, or anything relating to the problem.

When you find them pplease note the event ID and source code and tell us what they are.

Let us know if you need help with any of these

1 GB ram
Windows XP home SP2
Audigy soundcard
Nvidia GForce 5600 graphics card.

Got hit with Virtuamonde trojan.

Ran a barrage of scans, with Trojan Hunter, Spybot Search and Destroy, Panda Anti-Virus, Adshampoo Firewall (yes, a mixed bag). Even ran Hitman Pro 2 overnight.

Eventually got system to a usable state, although, not fast, and it ran reasonably well for about a week, then it really slowed up again

Problem is, how to verify if my system is truley clean and to establish what damage to system files etc has to be addressed.

Currently, IE6 and other running programs halt, task manager shows them to be not responding, but given time, they resume, another click on the program window starts this not responding cycle again.

Once upon a time it worked, I don't know when it did stop working.

I am a fiddler, and by that I mean, I go into services.msc and turn off (disable) any features that I do not use or require. Is it possible that I have turned off something that requires this to work?

That's quite possible. Won't don't you try turning them back on and rebooting?
