Windows audio service failing/crashing when playing videos

Q: Windows audio service failing/crashing when playing videos

I've been having a problem recently with windows audio. For some unknown reason the windows audio service keeps failing/crashing but I've noticed this has been happening when using my music player then playing a youtube video in Chrome. After that all sound stops and I can't hear it. I can get sound back by manually restarting the windows audio service but its annoying to do every time I want to listen to music and play a video or something after. To clarify I've been using said music player and chrome for a long time now but this problem has been happening just recently. I've also tried updating flash player to no avail.

my windows audio service keeps in failing after few minutes..... so I have to start it again through "services.msc" or restart the PC itself, any idea why this keeps on happening? I also setup my windows audio service to restart service for 1st failure also for the 2nd and subsequent failure.

Note: this happens to all of my PC(150 unit) with different motherboard and sound drivers.

Hello, I have been having problems with Windows 7 explorer constantly crashing and restarting whenever I right-click on or open any files and folders, search in the Start Menu search box, opening My Computer, Control Panel, etc. In essence, it is limiting most of the interface. I was able to pinpoint the problem using Safe Mode and msconfig to the 'Power' service (C:\windows\system32\svchost.exe ?k DcomLaunch). And once I disabled the 'Power' service, everything seems to be fixed.

However, disabling the 'Power' service will disable audio service for the system. To fix the audio service, I tried changing the Power management, reverting back to previous restore points, updating the audio device drivers, trying to enable the Windows services in services.msc for 'Remote Procedure Call (RPC)', 'Plug and Play', 'Multimedia Class Scheduler', 'Windows Audio Endpoint Builder' and 'Windows Audio' to activate sound again, but 'Window Audio' depends on 'Windows Audio Endpoint Builder', but 'Windows Audio Endpoint Builder' seems to depends on the 'Power' service. And I can?t activate the ?Power? service again without crashing Windows explorer. How do I go about fixing this issue? Can I replace the ?Power? service files? Or update them? And help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

After a few days of everything working fine, it's gone to pot. Pages are randomly loading very, very slowly or not at all, though sometimes loading fine if I hit refresh. Further, any video will buffer fine, play for 30 - 120 seconds then stop, say it is buffering and refuse to play. Downloads will randomly be ok or extremely slow. I spent 4 days on the phone to the tech support for my broadband company. We've established that there is nothing wrong with my internet connection or wireless (we even tried going through all the channels) and speed tests are showing real download/speeds of around 8Mbps. My flatmate's internet is working no problem. I thought it could be a problem with firefox and the add-ins I have (NoScript, Cookie Monster, Unplug, McAfee Site Advisor), although everything is up to date and I had consistently cleared the cache. Fairly experienced with fixing computers, but this one has me stumped.

Windows 7 (64), fairly fresh installation after a reformat a month or two ago. Audio fails after a random interval of the computer being on. Service stops running, but Windows is often able to repair automatically, when it can't repair I get error 1079 telling me it can't start the service.

The computer has had issues in the past with not starting audio on boot up, fixed by a quick restart, but the audio failing altogether is a new issue.

So far I've tried a system restore and ensuring all of the relevant services are set to start automatically. Could this be a hardware issue? (motherboard audio)

Thanks in advance.

A:Audio service failing / Error 1079

Solved for now by transferring jack to headphone socket. Reinforces theory of Motherboard failure.

New installation of XP, after many many years of 2k.
Well, we've encountered our first issue. While my dvd player can quite happily read and play games on DVD and CD, movies just will not play. It isn't that it can't detect them, it detects them just fine... Power DVD crashes (it IS power dvd 5 but still, it should still work) it just sits for a while doing nothing then closes.
Windows media player doesn't have the right codex and when I try to look at the advanced dvd options is freezes.
Real Player also freezes when I tell it to play a DVD

Could this be a codex issue?

My DVD player is an LG DVD burner of some description, it's a good few years old but WAS running just fine before 2k decided to destroy itself. I've been running Linux for months and since then various bits of kit have just ceased to work. (My scanner also seems to have failed despite updating it's drivers, but that's a different story)

Now, bearing in mind i'm a bit of a novice when it comes to computer related things, does anyone have any suggestions and useful links? I'm thinking it might be video card or codex related maybe? given every program is crashing it suggests it's an issue with the dvd playing rather than one piece of software.

When i play videos through windows media playe 11 or play online games like Vanguard at various times my sound appears to stutter then the screen freezes for a second then i get the blue screen saying an unrecoverable hardware error has happend and my comp reboots. Ive been emailing dell every day for 3 weeks now and they still have no answer for me. if i disable my sound device i can play video and play vanguard with no problem but as soon as i use sound i get the blue screen. My hunch is a compatibility issue with windows vista. Dell has replaced my video card and i still get it and ive downloaded current drivers for my vid card and sound card and used the windows update for any critical and security updates out there. Ive restored my comp to factory settings 5 times as per request of dell tech guys, and ive uninstalled the sound device then reinstalled it.

Since I purchased my computer two years ago, I've been having problems with the occasional crash when playing games. Over the past couple of months, the problem has been getting a lot worse, and my computer will crash/hang constantly when playing anything, including WOW, Rome: Total War, and Civilization IV. In addition to that, watching videos online, as well as on Windows Media Player also can result in crashes. I've even experienced full hangs when opening Microsoft Word or burning a DVD.

I've done a full MEMTEST and it found no errors. In addition to that, I believe my video and sound drivers are fully updated, and I've even tried plugging in a new graphic's card with no success. I have also cleaned out the dust from the inside of my computer. When I first experienced this problem, I formatted my computer and reinstalled everything, which also did not help solve my problem.

Ok so I have a brand-new HP Pavilion (only like 4 months old), and I run windows 8. I have a problem with YouTube, and any website that plays videos. The ad will play perfectly, and then when the video comes up, all I get is a green screen or a screen with multi-color lines through it. I primarily run Firefox. When I tried in IE, all I would get was a black screen and the little timer at the bottom of the video wouldn't even move, but audio would play. This happened to me on a college football website too, when I tried to watch highlights.

If you could help me out, that would just make my day.

Sorry if this is a duplicate but I couldn't find anything using the search bar.

I bought a second-hand scratch built computer and installed Win7pro on it.  The box was originally using XP.

There is  realtek HD audio here, and it's giving me fits.

Whenever I play videos the sound drops out in various places and for various lengths of time.  When I'm trying to watch an instructional video it really drives me crazy.

As far as I've noticed, playing music files does not cause this problem.  YouTube videos are what I'm primarily trying to play.

I'm not sure what you might need to help but I'll throw this all out here.

Win7Pro 32 bit

Has been a problem since day 1.  Not intermittent.

Please advise if I can provide more info that would help diagnose and/or troubleshoot.  Thanks.

A:Realtek Audio drops out while playing videos.

The quickest thing to do is to verify what version of audio driver you have and compare it to what is available. If necessary download the latest Realtek HD driver that is compatible with Windows 7 and see if that helps to improve things.

Hi,

I'm a percussionist and occasionally have to film my self playing drums and other percussion instruments for auditions and other reasons. I record with a Canon Vixia HFR20 and then import the videos to a Mac computer. Once on the Mac I then convert the video files to MPG so that I can import the video to iMovie. Once I import the video to iMovie I edit the film and then export it has an .mp4. Here everything is great. However, once I put the video on a computer running Windows 7, there is immediately audio sync issues. A few years ago I tried doing the editing on my laptop (also tried using my desktop that runs windows 7) in Windows Movie Maker but there was a lot of audio sync issues when I was finished.

Also, if I upload the video to a website, such as vimeo, the video plays fine on any computer when it is being streamed from the site. However, if I send the file to myself (either through a flash drive or web) and try to play it on Windows 7, there is audio sync issues no matter the file type (avi, mpg, mov, etc.). The video plays fine on a mac.

I also tried taking my video from Vimeo that works fine on any PC (When streamed from the site) and downloaded it to my laptop that runs Windows 7. Once I downloaded, I had the same sync issues that I was having before.

Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Thanks

A:Audio out of sync when playing Videos I created

Are you using 16 bit 48Khz for the audio files? That is what commercial studios use for audio, to be in sync with video.

16 bit 44.1Khz is the "CD quality" audio standard and what most PC's are set up for.

Whatever it is, try upgrading it to the latest version. In other words, if you are using Microsoft Media Player, go to Microsoft's site and download the latest version and see if that fixes you up.

i am a retired veteran IT specialist of 30 years and this issue has me stumped.  This issue started yesterday when I played a movie trailer on Youtube of an upcoming movie.  Now every time I play any streaming video there is what appears to be
old gaming music playing overtop of the movie audio. This all but mutes the movie video and plays loud in the foreground. If I stop the video the music stops. I start the video and the music continues. It has effected all steaming videos.  Netflix is
also effected both in the Windows IE version and the Windows APP store version.  Also, iHeartRadio is also effected.
Here is things I have tested.
Checked and my Malware and Norton Virus is active and up to date.
I restarted the computer a number of times.
I ran the SFC.EXE and no issues were reported.
I have tested using two different WiFii Networks.  Same Issue.
I tested against IE-11, Foxfire and Chrome Browsers.  Same Issue.
I checked the audio driver. It reports up-to-date.
I turned on Audio Streaming and Then Disabled all Streaming.  Same Issue.
Now when I play a YouTube Video the audio is extremely low and there is noise like poor audio overtop of the videos audio.

I am finding very little about this on the internet.  Any ideas of further test that I can do?   Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone!

This is my first post here so i do apologise if this is in the wrong place.

I have a problem that's been driving me crazy for nearly 12 months now, the audio in any video i watch on any website or player in Firefox will begin to lag and go out of synch, this can be corrected by clicking back slightly on the player but three minutes (or thereabouts) later it will start to de-synch again (youtube is a complete nightmare)

I have literally tried everything, from updating all drivers to complete re-installs and nothing works, it doesn't happen in Chrome or Opera or even IE, just Firefox, i have toyed with changing browser but i can't get on with anything but Firefox so i'm kinda stuck with it.

Any help would be fabulous, updated Dxdiag below.

For some time now I have been unable to play BBC News videos in Firefox 26.0 (the only BBC videos I watch with any frequency) but after 15secs the video freezes while the audio continues. Also, after this has happened and I grab the slider it blurs just like a Windows OS freeze.
I just tried it on Internet Explorer and the same video stopped at about 22secs with exactly the same problems. It happens with all BBC News videos.
Here is a screen grab of, in this instance, the video stopped and where I've advanced the slider and it has blurred.

What can I do to cure this problem?
Thanks,

Hey all, I've got a bit of a problem.

Y'see, I watch alot of stuff on my computer and I've run into a problem in which my media players (VLC, WMP Classic, Realplayer. Mostly VLC though) will open a video, play the audio and the video will be nothing more than a black screen.

I've tried installing Codecs, that didn't work.

I checked my Device Manager and I have no errors.

I've restored my computer to a point previous to installing the codecs, No dice.

I'm running an XP Home comp with SP2 installed and this was never a problem before. Please help

VLC should play without the need to install codecs, you should look elsewhere for a solution.

i just upgraded my PC to Vista Ultimate SP1 and whenver i play music or some video files, the sound "skips". i don't know how to describe it, but it like pauses for half a sec with a skipping sound then plays again, like if the cpu usage is at 100%, but that's not what's causing it. Nothing like this happened in XP, just started. it happens ever so often. i've search the internet for for about an hour yesterday with no avail. I have a intergrated SoundMax digital audio card. I've tried reinstalling the audio drivers, check DMA settings on both my HD's, tried various media players etc. my sound card doesn't have those "Enhancements" that i read about. People were able to solve their problem by disabling them. I also don't have a wireless network card. I tried to see if maybe the activity on the HD was causing the issue, but couldn't make a connection. I tried moving program windows around rapidly but that didn't cause the skipping to occur. i'm at a loss here. any help much appreciated.

Couldn't wait any longer.  I have solved the problem; the program which finally got rid of this virus is Farbar Recovery Scan Tool.  I stumbled onto this by closely following other threads where people have the same issues as I had.  The commonality seems to be that there were five randomly named files in my C:\Windows\System32 directory which I couldn't remove.  FRST managed to take care of them.

A:Windows 7 Explorer crashing and failing to preform updates.

Hello & Welcome to Tech Guy Forum

On which date did the problem begin? Occasionally the exact date is important.

When did the computer last work well? What changed? Perhaps a hardware or software install or removal; W7 update [ check W7's update history ]; an update to your anti malware or other program?

What is the smallest task that your computer freezes? What is the largest task which will work?

What happens if you boot to W7's safe mode?

Would you describe yourself as a beginning, intermediate or advanced computer user?

Please run the TG info tool.

Also, whenever a video has finished playing and I exit the tab/window that the video was in, my computer freezes for a bit and the gives me a message about my shockwave plugin being unresponsive. It gives me the option to stop it or continue. I found that if I just do nothing for a minute or so, it disappears and my computer returns to normal. Hi, I have this problem. When a video thats in Windows media trys playing (inside the website, not like it opened windows media player, it's in the actual site..)..like for example, people put music videos in their myspace...welll when they try playing, my browser crashes. I get this error (one of those send error, dont send things):
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: wininet.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.2781 Offset: 000793a3

AppName: firefox.exe AppVer: 1.0.7.0 ModName: wininet.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.2781 Offset: 000793a3

The error happens in both IE and firefox..and happens when a windows video trys playing in the site. Quicktime videos work fine.

How can I fix this?

Hi all,

Any idea on how I can stop my windows explorer crashing whenever it "sees" video files - mainly .mp4 videos. It happens with my phone attached trying to transfer, but also for videos that have been on my laptop ages. If I change the view files to details instead of the previews it seems to be OK.

running vista home premium.

Thanks.

This has been happening for a few days now. All of my drivers are up to date. I have a windows 7 samsung home premium laptop. i can watch videos on Youtube and on my browser (chrome) but no matter what video player i use, i can't watch downloaded videos! i've used players like GOM player, VLC, and KMplayer but nothing happens and it's just a black screen. when I use Windows Media Player, it shrinks the image and freezes on one of the first frames but it plays the audio. This is so frustrating, please help.

I installed Windows 10 on 17 Aug 15  I was using Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 11 prior to installation of Windows 10.  I never experienced any problems with playing videos until I upgraded to Windows 10.  Now, I cannot play some videos
that are embedded in news articles or on YouTube.  This happens if I use the Microsoft Edge browser or the Internet browser.  I don't know what is wrong and am hoping that Microsoft will come out with an update to fix this problem.  I am not
all that conversant with computer technology and, therefore, am hoping the Microsoft will fix this problem with an update rather than me having to become a "techie" which is probably impossible now because of my age, i.e. 75.

Hi, my name is Virgil . I have been dealing with this problem for about 2 weeks now and it is very frustrating.
I just brought all my recording studio equipment and software including a Presonus 22VSL Audio Interface.
Before I brought the Presonus 22VSL I had 3 other interfaces (M-track, Scarlett, and The Presonus USB) .
The interfaces are usually USB plug and play which means really it should work on any windows or mac .

-The 22VSL came with a intaller CD which I have tried to install plenty of times but it keeps giving me the same error and say the installer has ended prematurely or has just not installed correctly.

-I thought maybe the audio interfaces were not compatible with my windows 8.1 but it is according to this official Presonus/Windows Post (http://support.presonus.com/entries/22526204-Windows-8-1-Compatibility-Updated-November-8-2013).

-I have a Windows 8.1 (PreInstalled) Intel Core i7-4500U 64-Bit On UBS 3.0

If anyone can help me i would definelty appreciate it I have contacted windows and they couldnt help and presonus wont contact me back.
Thanks

-Virgil

A:Windows 8.1 Audio Interface Installer Failing

While the hardware products may be compatible with Windows 8.1 if the software discs were made before Windows 8.1 they may not be compatible without an update. Have you tried downloading the drivers/software from the manufacturer's website and installing those? According to the website you need version 1.2.2 to be compatible Windows 8.1, download it from here: http://www.presonus.com/support/downloads/AudioBox-22VSL

My Windows 7 (64 Ultimate) computer, m9058n Elite Pavilion HP, seems to be having some serious issues. Whenever I play games such as (TF2/Steam games) or try and watch videos/flash things online it seems to crash. What happens is the monitor turns off and then the tower shuts down. Just browsing web pages or looking at the desktop doesn't cause this at all. No idea what this could be! Supposedly my drivers are up to date, please help! Thanks in advance!

How do I get IE to let me play embedded videos? I can watch vids on Youtube, but if I go to a web site where they have embedded videos, it doesn't show them. What I mean is that it doesn't even acknowledge there is a video there. I even had someone with sight look at the site I was on, and she didn't see a video at all. At first I thought it was just that site, but I was just now doing a Google search, and I kept coming on sites that said they had video clips, only there were no video clips. This happened on every single site I visited. I checked my addons and shockwave is enabled. Also, I'm using the desktop version of IE, as the metro version isn't Jaws friendly, but I tried using th metro version, and it still didn't play the embedded vids.

I have a Windows 7 system that is running all Windows Updates available as on today. I assume it is running the latest edition of WMP; but, I can see no way of determining the version. It plays MTS (movies made on a Panasonic Camcorder) files just fine.

Now the problem:

I have another system here running WinXP with all updates available for it as of today. Again, I cannot determine which version of WMP. It will not play MTS files. It is running a Intel Core 2 CPU 6300 $ 1.86 GHz and 2 Gigs of RAM. It stops at a screen that says it is loading but remains black indefinitely with no progress indicator.

Any advice?

Am I just going to have to go to Win7? I know there are other programs that probably will play MTS; but, it would be nice if I could get WMP to do it without having to go to Win7.

Hiya

Sometimes this can be caused by the version of Flash player that your browser is using. Which browser are you using?

See if there is an update to Flash here:

http://www.adobe.com/uk/software/flash/about/

You should see the version you have in the box, and see if its the most current version.

Now, even opening the game will crash it. I have deleted and reinstalled the game on a different hard drive, it makes no difference.

since about month im getting Bluescreens, which never happened before in 4 years.
It usually get the when i watch streams on twitch (which didnt happen since 1 week on my account though) or currently while playing League of Legends.
But they dont come every game, so i can for example play 4 games in a row and nothing happens or i get 3 one them in one game. Also they can come at any game time. It is kind of random to me how they appear.
The last two days I got about 7 so i really need help from u guys.
In the last two weeks i always got this message (STOP : 0x00007A (0xFFFF6FC50023598,0xFFFFFFFFC000000E,0x000000002A991880,0xFFFFF8A0046B30BE) ) without a sound and the pc didnt instantly reboot.
But the last days the Blackscreen stayed like 4 second so i couldnt see the error message on it, so i dont know if the error changed but there was this buzzing sound.

Hello. I need your help! I do not know where to post this thread because the source of the issue cannot be verified.

I notice after playing long videos on You Tube and other websites, my screen will freeze-up for a few seconds and then unfreeze on its own at times. Other times I have to close out of the browser in order to get the system to unlock or I just have to wait a few seconds for the system to unlock on its own. Seems to happen only while playing longer videos online. Other than that, this issue does not happen. This is all new and started happening the last few days.

I will not elaborate too many details at the moment. It is best to take this step-by-step then throw lots of data out all at once and have many long paragraphs to initially post. Please ask me questions if you need too. I will tell you, I have run full system malware scans using Norton 360 and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, nothing detected.
Some basic general stats of my system:
- Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit.
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 -- Yorkfield 2.83 GHz 1333 MHz processor.
- ASUS P5Q desktop motherboard.
- 8 GB of Corsair XMS2 4x2 GB DDR2 RAM.

I have been having an issue recently with my Windows 8 HP laptop (i'm not too sure of the exact model at the moment) where it'll just stop playing videos (whether if streamed through the internet such as you tube or if played on the actual computer as a downloaded video) or the sound for said videos just won't play. The problem can usually be temporarily fixed by restarting my computer but it gets annoying to restart my computer constantly because a video is not playing or the sound is not working so I am trying to see if there is a permanent solution. Adobe flash player is up to date and the problem has been occurring before and after I updated flash player. Thanks to anyone who takes their time to read this a possibly attempt to help. If any more information is needed please do not be afraid to ask and thank you for helping.

A:Windows 8 HP laptop suddenly stops playing videos/sound

As the problem is both video and sound, this is more than just an "audio" problem (this forum section),

Any Flash type video/audio (such as YouTube) is related to the Flash player (and there are many reported similar problems).
A complete uninstall of the Flash Player, restart the PC and then a new install of the Flash player helps in some cases.

Hello All

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1254 (at least started as that, had some stuff upgraded, explained below), AMD A6-3620 2.2Ghz Quad Core with AAHD2-HL board; save you the time of looking it up if needed. What happens is the system with will just freeze. Occasionally the audio that was playing with stutter infinitely like a skipping CD. Rarely I notice the system will stutter once or twice before totally freezing, happens in a couple seconds. But mostly, it just stops. When it freezes, the only option is to hard reboot.

I have had this problem for quite some time, probably about a year or two. At first I really didn't notice any consistency in the crashes, seems totally random. Some times it would freeze while browsing any random page, be it videos, forums, ad ridden or ad free. Any browser as well; Chrome, Firefox, IE. It also crashes when playing some games although not other games that have higher requirements; e.g. Guaranteed to crash, probably within 10 mins, if I play '8-bit Boy' on Steam (about as low res as implied) but I can go on 4 and 5 hour binges on Elder Scrolls Online or Skyrim with no crashes. I have recently noticed that YouTube videos (any video) is a guaranteed crash within a 20-30 seconds.

I have tried everything I have been able to find to do, to try and fix this issue; but none have worked. So far the hardware parts that have been replaced with new components are the RAM (now 2x4GB GEIL Enhanced Corsa PC3-12800), HDD (now 2TB WD Cavi... Read more

I've also tried playing the games on the lowest settings and it still doesn't really help. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all,

My computer used to crash alot when playing skyrim. This stopped recently when I changed my drivers. However, the BSOD started again recently. I do not know the reason behind this, as I am still using the same drivers that I thought fixed the problem. Is it software related (mods, glitches, etc.) or hardware related? The last BSOD happened to me while I was NOT playing skyrim and was just on steam... I have posted the 5 .dmp files attached in a ZIP format here. The most recent one is the steam BSOD while the others are all Skyrim BSOD

Thank you

hello,

hopefully u guys can help me with my issue. I have windows 7 home premium. I play Americas army 2.8.5 and my computer has been freezing up and requiring me to do a hard reboot by holding down the power button. it will do it repeatedly and Ive tried everything from updating all my drivers, bios and every driver i have on my rig and also running every kind of test imaginable to my knowledge. i can also be just browsing on the internet and all of a sudden the screen will freeze up and I get the blue little circle continuously doing its thing then i click again and the screen turns white for about 30 seconds and then it will kick back on and let me continue on. When I load up my game americas army the game will just freeze up sometimes i can play for 10 minutes and other times i can play for over an hour before it completely freezes up.

Ive talked back and forth with developers and the version of Americas army im playing is compatible with windows 7. Like i said before, ive been to numerous forums back and forth and tried everything with nothing changing for the past 2 months. Im ready to just go back to xp and really think windows 7 was a waste of money...

Hello,
I have a pretty much brand new, relatively high-spec PC on Windows 10 that keeps freezing.
When:
- It crashes when Windows starts up and the mouse isn't moved for a few minutes. If I startup and move the mouse within the first few minutes it works fine
- Randomly freezes during videos or gaming every few days
Error:
- Event Viewer tells me that just before the 'Kernel-Power' Critical Error which crashes the PC, the 'Office 2016 Licensing Service' Error occurs every time. So as this Office error occurs before each crash, I'm assuming its causing it
- When I double-click on the Office error, I can the following details:
''The description for Event ID 0 from source Office 2016 Licensing Service cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
Subscription licensing service failed: -1073418220''
Any help would be much appreciated, I've been living with this issue for months and tried to fix it myself for so long. I just don't know where else to turn to.
Thanks in advance,

Hello,

Over the last few days I have installed Kaspersky Internet Suite 2009 (trial) and installed the latest update for Vista (I use Vista Home Premium).

I have noticed that whenever I startup a Windows program such as Windows Media Player or Windows Service Manager, the application will report it has encountered an error and will shut, with the option of sending the error message to Microsoft. In the case of Windows Media Player, I can't get the application to actually physically appear, but with Windows Service Manager, the application does physically appear (but only the bounds, toolbar, buttons, and similar visual elements).

This gives me a problem because I have set the SQL Server window service to only start manually by starting it up in the Service Manager to reduce the overhead of starting Vista. So now I can't connect to SQL Server and do any database-related work.

So I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 , 10 was for free so why not. It was okay for weeks and i went on a holiday for 3 weeks. When i came back and plugged my PC back in it started to crash to BSOD or it just totally shuts off and restarts. I am also having these freezing problems which force me to manually turn off my PC ( which i know isn't the best for the PC) . Most of the time the crashing happens when Im playing games like Fallout 4,Dead by Daylight. I didn't notice any problems when being in a program like Photoshop CC . I tried programs that find system problems , scanned my hard disk and Ram too , no problems there , tried changing my power supply if its getting enough power . No fixes.

I'm rather dumb when it comes to these sorts of things and I've looking stuff up but with no luck, either the thing I found didn't work or it just left me feeling confused having no clue what any of what was said means. I really want to fix this error as my girlfriend recently got steam and wants to play with me, but for no reason, my computer randomly started crashing after approximately 2-3 minutes of gameplay (note, if i sit in a menu it won't crash, it's only when I'm actually playing the game.) I am confused as it isn't malware as I originally thought (as i did get a virus but it was successfully removed along with everything it damaged being fixed... I think, I also reverted to factory default with no luck) When it crashes the screen cuts to black, all audio stops but the computer stays on, although entirely unresponsive. I don't what else to say besides that it started randomly and the first time it happened it wasn't just a black screen but a black screen with thin vertical red stripes all across it. Every time after that was just a black screen. I don't know what broke but it clearly did it there and not even a factory default will fix it. I am really hoping I don't need to buy anything as I have no money. :c Please help asap. Thanks ahead of time for even looking at this post.

I've done a search through the forums for some help on this problem but couldn't find anything that fits mine exactly

I took my computer to office depot to have them clean the dust out (I've never been very comfortable doing it myself) and returned it to find I had no sound. my first problem was under the sound icon in the tray saying no speakers are connected.

Through some searching I eventually came to windows audio under the services. It is set to automatic start but is disabled when I try to start it I get error 1290 "the service start failed since one or more services in the same process have incompatible service SID type setting"

I have made sure that all listed dependencies are already on it is set to local system account.

Would you like to enable the Windows Audio Service. Then if you click on yes it brings up the box where you can modify your playback, recording and sounds devices, but there is still a cross over the speaker icon. I am using Windows Vista

Hi
Im running on windows 7 and for various reason ive recently reinstalled the OS and ive had difficulties with the windows audio services. It turns off on its own, and when i do set it to manual and start it it turns back to automatic and stops when i attempt changing the volume. Ive checked all the dependencies and they were all turned on. I have also scan the computer for viruses and what-not and have done all windows updates. My event log service also doesnt seem to want to stay on. Is it a general service bug? Do you guys have any idea how i could fix this?
I really dont feel like reinstalling windows again, i just got everything reinstalled.
Your help would be much apreciated.

A:Windows audio service

This is caused by a browser addon of malware. Most Anti-Virus and Malware software do not catch it.
Please download Junkware Removal Tool, Run it. A DOS window appears, press any key. It will automatically start scanning.
After that, download ADWCleaner, Run it, Install it, Scan, leave everything checked, Clean. The computer will automatically restart. Both programs show a Text document when they are done showing you what they have removed.

I was having connectivity issues and stopped two weird looking services that had no descriptions (and honestly I don't remember what they were called, but I know I set one back to auto and I think the other is just gone.) Aparently that knocked out my sound, and 'Windows Audio' no longer appears in the service list.

I tried to start it with net start AudioSvc but it tells me the service name is invalid.

The only dependency I've found is RPC and that's running.

One thing, sadly in many cases it is a Windows OS problem and Windows reinstall is needed to fix it. But, look over the other posts and possible fixes. If none of these work, the last resort is to reinstall Windows.

A:Urgent : System uses 50% or more when playing Videos, Flash Videos, Flash Games etc

Firstly, I would think it is fine that your CPU usage goes to 50% when playing videos... it has to use some CPU power to do this. Now the lagging is another story. First off I would make sure that everything is being properly cooled. If you have not done so in a while, clean out the inside of the PC, blowing off any dust from the heatsink, graphics card, power supply etc. Also what sort of power supply do you have? I want to confirm it's adequate for the system. That brings up the question, when did this start happening and was anything hardware changed around that time?

I have a Western Digital 1 terabyte drive that I could use however I would like to install a solid state drive do a lot ofintense video editing . any suggestions tips recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

A:hard drive failing need help URGENT client wedding videos at risk

I've seen reports that cloning can work on failing drives, but that wouldn't be my highest priority.

I'd first concentrate on getting data (not Windows) copied off of the drive to any other drive---external, another internal, a USB thumb drive, DVDs, whatever. Pronto.

Worry about Windows, the SSD, reinstalling programs later.

I woudn't write anything more to the drive if at all possible.

Cloning is typically done for the entire drive. Imaging can be done on a partition basis. I'm guessing you have a typical install with only a C partition and possibly System Reserved. Worry about cloning later. Get the data backed up (copied) elsewhere.

Hey I'm new to these forums and I'm not 100% positive this is where I'm supposed to be making this post but I'll try it out and see what happens.

I'm currently experiencing a problem with my windows audio service. Everytime my computer uses audio, whether it be through the internet browser (Latest version of Firefox), a game or Windows Media Player, my Windows Audio Service will stop as soon as I close whichever program I was using that was using sound. I'm running Windows XP on my machine.

I scan my computer a few times a week for malware, spyware etc...( I use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Spybot Search & Destroy, I also use EasyCleaner for removing temp files and cookies) I also run Avast! Home edition on my computer. I search for updates for all of the utilities I use prior to each use.

I've updated my audio driver, I've done it a few ways from just running the driver via the .exe file to uninstalling my audio device, deleting the old driver and running my new driver .exe to install my audio device.

It's onboard sound...I'm not too sure what other information should be added here. If anymore information is required please let me know.

Hi,

Over the past week or so I've had a few problems with my Windows 7 Dell Inspiron 1570. I'm not sure what happened to start it all off. The first thing I noticed was that I could no longer get sound from the computer - the speaker icon is no longer visible, and when I try to access 'Sound' in Control Panel, either nothing happens or I receive a message which says 'Windows Audio Service is not running'.

I have tried to restart the Audio Service in services.mcs, but to no avail. I also noticed here that the Plug and Play Service is stopped, and it won't start either. The green bar shoots up to about halfway and then stalls, before I receive an 'Error 1053' message.

In addition to this, my laptop has stopped recognising external devices - printer, usb storage etc, and the Device Manager is empty.

I'm tearing my hair out trying to figure out what's going on, and could really use some help from someone who knows what they're doing. As you may have gathered from my clumsy description of my issues, I'm not exactly a technical wizard!!

Any help will be hugely appreciated!

Thanks

Brian

So I ran Malwarebyts , It pulled four malicious files. ( I just checked, I guess Malwarebyts decided that logs are not important, Logging is on, but there are no logs there)

After-which, I restarted the machine. When It booted, low and behold, no audio.
I looked around a bit and found that the Windows Audio service is not starting. Trying to start it throws this error.
"Window could not start the Windows Audio service on Local Computer.

Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start"

I checked the dependencies, and they are all on.

At this point I decided to try to troubleshoot.
I went into the registry, and removed the dependencies form the service. ( I backed up the key.)
Restated the machine, and tryed to start the service. This is when thing got odd. This time it threw a different error.

"Window could not start the Windows Audio service on Local Computer.

Error 1722: The RPC server is unavailable."

What?

I uninstalled my audio device and restarted, it reloaded and it throws the same error. I also ran sfc /scannow and it returned no integrity violations.

I have absolulty no idea what in gods name is going wrong, and I can't find a lot of information on th... Read more

This is like my third brush with this problem this week. The first two times I just jiggled the volume control knob and that fixed it. This time I got stuck at the Welcome Screen for over 5 minutes while logging in before I did a hard reboot to Safe Mode With Networking. I found a little X on my speakers icon. So I'm gonna try the first YouTube video I found on the subject and follow directions.

Hi everybody! Since I've installed the new Vista Beta 2 I'm experiencing a problem with the Audio Service: initially I didn't have the driver for my NVIDIA properly set...so I had a crossed icon on the taskbar; now I managed to set the card but the service won't start even if set to auto. If I try to start it manually it gives back "error 1078: dependancies etc..". I erased the dependancy field with regedit but still nothing: the only dependant service not running is "Thread Ordering Server"...when I try to start it manually I get "error 5: access is denied". I also have similar problems with the firewall service... PLEASE HELP ME!!!

PS: at times i get this error as well: "error 1079: different account..."

Thanks, Gianmarco

A:Audio Service In Windows Vista B2

I don't have an answer, but I can verify your issue at least. I chose to install Vista Beta 2 (clean) on a SN41G2-V3 Shuttle computer with the following components:FN41 mainboard with a nVidia chipset with nForce2 I believeCPU is an AM Athlon XP Barton 2800+ (1.24GHz)Memory is 1GB (2x512MB) Crucial PC2700 running dual channel at 166MHz (very slow, but I assembled this box out of odds and ends in order to more realistically duplicate an average older system)ASUS n6600 graphics cardWestern Digital 80GB SATA HDDASUS X-multi CD/DVD RW DriveThe graphics are clean and crisp, my DSL and home network were recognized with a minimum of issues, but the platform refuses to recognize my on-board sound and/or the nForce. It tells me that there are no sound components attached (although I do have an USB powered speaker plugged-in).When I attempt to load the CD that contains the mainboards drivers it brings up the autoload screen minus any selection (that in itself is a separate issue) and when attempting to load the driver manually it tells me that nForce is not found more than likely because the driver has not been loaded. Before I attempt to load it on that system can some wonderful person verify IF the Vista nVidia audio drivers listed in this forum work with the Beta 2 version? Thanks! EDIT Update: Just stumbled upon the download site that has the Beta 2 drivers for Nvidia nForce. They are one step up from the ones currently listed in the Vista Drivers section of this forum. ... Hi,
I am new here, so sorry if I already broke some kind of rule. Here is my problem:

I bought new parts for my pc... Well it was nearly everything except HDD and now I can't get sound running. Sound icon at bottom right has that traditional white X in red circle and when I move my mouse over it, it says: "The Audio service is not running."
If I click on it and that troubleshooting pops up, it tries to turn service on. Problem is I get another error. "One or more sound services are not running." (I am sorry if that's not exact translation I am using Czech Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. When I try to run it manually it sometimes works and service turns on (but I can't still hear sounds) and then after while it turns off again. After several tries I can't even turn that service on again. I just get error: "Windows could not start the Windows Audio Service in Local Computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedely."

I am starting to be bit desperate. Is there a way how to fix the sound without reinstalling windows?

A:windows audio service turns itself off

This problem comes up occasionally. I don't know if there is a fix other than a complete reinstall.

Since you installed new hardware, except the HDD, did you do a complete new install with the new hardware? If not, that is probably the problem.

This is a difficult problem for me to put into words, but I am just getting progressively more annoyed as time goes on, so I'll be quick.

Basically, my audio has a tendency to stop working (as in red x over sound icon) at complete random, and despite fixing the supposed "problem" of "audio is too low", it still does this and with seemingly increasing frequency. I have noticed some minor details that happen when this occurs:

1) While inconsistent, it tends to happen right after I open some applications, although this is somewhat random.
2) When it does happen, and I check up the playback devices via right clicking the sound icon, they are completely gone even if the devices are completely plugged in. It's only after I normally click on the icon do they come back after a short period.
3) I check the "Services" and the Windows Audio is off despite the fact that it is automatic. Restarting it only keeps it on for as long as possible until the next random shutoff.
4) It also tends to automatically occur the very moment I log into my account on my computer, so I always end up having to turn it back on.

I am at my wits end here, and I am hoping this place can provide some answers. My computer is a Windows 7 Dell, and I'll try to provide more information if I can.

I AM NOT TECH SAVVY.
