Outlook Setup for iCloud could not be started

Q: Outlook Setup for iCloud could not be started

"Outlook Setup for iCloud could not be started because of an unexpected error."

How to solve this without knowing what error is causing this?

I have tried reinstalling Office and iCloud (run as administrator) but no luck. Is Windows 10 compabtible for iCloud? Apple says no and Microsoft says yes.......

How could i fix this problem?

It did worked before, but it slowed down my computer so much that i decided to reinstall the Office package. Everything worked ok after the reinstall and Office programs are running ok. Only I can't get iCloud to sync with Outlook anymore.

Thanks for the help.

I have this problem, also. Would appreciate any help. It worked initially, but sync was not working. I then signed out in order to sign back in, but not possible.

I have windows 7 and outlook 2010 on a PC. When linking to icloud and enabling it to synch with icloud, icloud took the contacts off my computer (at least it seems that way). In trying to resolve the issue and talking with Apple and Omnitech, a variety of solutions were tried. I now have all my contacts in the right categories showing up on my PC, but it appears that they are not on the PC but in the cloud. My goal is to copy one of my categories, mailing list, into a new separate folder in the folder list in order to use it to merge with Word and make labels. In the past, I could right click on the mailing list category and drag it to the new folder that I created. It would then ask if I wanted it to copy the file there or move it. I copied it to the new folder and then was able to merge it with word. Currently, when I try to drag the file to the folder, it indicates that this action can not be done. It appears to me that the reason this is occurring is that the contact file is in the cloud not on the computer. ?? I would like to create a file with my contacts on the PC with the contacts in the right categories and not duplicating what is currently showing up from the cloud. I believe once I do this I will again be able to copy the category to the new folder.

I hope I'm in Windows 7 forum.

Like a fool I dowloaded iCloud and sent all my contacts to iCloud. Now, when I open a contact and make a notation then want to enter a reminder, I get the message "the item is in a folder that does not support reminders". Well, something like that. How can I go back to the way it was - without iCloud? I don't want iCloud. All the help is on Apple forum and I own a PC.

Can you help?

I wouldn't mind if all my information were on iCloud AND on my laptop.

I have a new Windows 10 laptop and I have migrated most everything from my previous laptop that I wanted and everything has been working pretty good up to now. I use Outlook 2007 for POP3 email and had installed in on the new LT and moved my PST and all was working good with email, contacts and calendar after much help from here: Yesterday I decided to move my iTunes from the old LT to the new LT and I installed ITunes and ICloud on the new LT and synced it with my iPhone 6. Thought all was well until this morning when I'm checking my POP3 email account. All my email downloaded no problem and I was able to read everything. When I went to send email I found that iCloud had emptied my Contacts and replaced it with iCloud contacts which essentially is the ones that I had on my phone. (My iPhone contacts are still there.) If I click the "To" field in the email it does bring up my outlook contacts that I had on my computer before the iCloud debacle and it does let me select them. However when I send them I get an immediate undeliverable message from system administrator saying:

When I was using iCloud (I stopped because it gave me too many headaches) I deleted a recurring event and now I keep getting hundreds and hundreds of Appointment Series deletions showing in my Deleted folder.

If I do a search for one of the words in the appointment name, then delete all those items from the Deleted folder, they are not deleted and simply reappear.

Every once in a while, I have to go to my Deleted folder to find something but my deleted emails are scattered amongst these hundreds of Appointment Series deletions.

I would sure appreciate your help!!

Hello knowledgeable ones:

Until last week I was using outlook 2003, an older versions of itunes, and an ipod, and was able to back up my outlook contacts and calender through itunes and right to the ipod, no problem.

Now, however, I have had to upgrade everything so they can handshake correctly. This has meant going to Outlook 2007, the latest itunes, an iphone 5, and the icloud. My entire goal is to have the contacts in outlook match the contacts in both the cloud and the phone.

In using the icloud control on both of these, I now have the following: a variety of calenders in my outlook with names like calender in icloud, home in icloud, and my calender, all in lovely pastel shades. The phone has one calendar with only the occasionally dupes on a given date.

The phone, however, is a disaster, with as many as three dupes of the same name. Looking at Outlook, I have a slew of contacts, some dupes, many that I though i had deleted from outlook. Also two categories of contacts, icloud and my contacts, with sub-directories in each. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that the contacts tab under my contacts was completely blank following a sync to the cloud, only to then find the other five versions, which, of course, I would like to have agree with each other. The icloud interface on line shows dupe contacts as well.

I understand that one person may not have all the answers to all the parts of this; I am on an iphone forum as well, trying to figure ... Read more

I went to play an mp3, and the standard windows media player setup came up, where you choose recommended or custom. Its been ages since ive ran that first setup, and ive used wmp for ages in between. What causes it to come up again? I had a large amount of updates from windows update recently, was it something to do with that?

A:Windows Media Player started as if it was first setup

That happened to me too - just minutes after applying the latest round of updates. In my case, one of those updates reset all of my media file associations to point to Windows Media Player. I use WMP, but not by default. I ended up re-installing K-Lite codec pack (with Media Player Classic) to let that install redo all of my media file associations.

I glanced at the updates, but I did not see which one was responsible for barfing those associations and resetting WMP to the first run state.

Hi there,

I am completely computer illiterate and this week seem to have attracted a number of problems! Lucky me!

Firstly I managed to catch the av360 virus which I think I have successfully removed (although it still shows in the startup section when you run MSCONFIG but it is unchecked?)

Now it seems my outlook express is playing up. When trying to open it I receive the following message :

Outlook express could not be started. The application was unable to open the Outlook Express message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk full

I then click ok and this message appears :

Outlook express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized. Outlook express may not be installed correctly.

I have looked through a few forums on here and have checked that my *.dbx files are all set at not read only, but it still does not open. I have also changed folders.dbx to folders.old and nothing...

I really don't know what to do now and whether something I did when trying to remove the virus has caused this...

Any help will be grateful received (in a form that is easy to understand please...! )

Using Win 98SE, when trying to open Outlook Express, version 6, I receive the error message: "Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to open the Outlook Express message store. Your computer may be be out of memory or your hard disk is full. Contact Microsoft for assistance 0x8007000E" followed by "Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized. Outlook Express may not be installed correctly."

In Microsoft's Knowledge Base, I found a similar Error Message applying to Outlook Express, version 5 (+) but no references to version 6. In attempting to resolve this issue I followed the instructions for version 5 and removed Outlook Express, deleted the Outlook Express information in the Registry Key for Active Setup, and then reinstalled Outlook Express. This did not resolve the problem. I have adequate memory and disk space.

I will greatly appreciate your assistance.

(I don't now if downloading version 6 of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express caused this problem. If so, how can I undo it and restore the previous version?)

It's only an annoyance, but every time I leave my computer and it hibernates or goes to standby, a dialog box appears upon reactivation that shows an aborted attempt to connect to the internet, even though neither my browser (Firefox) or Outlook 2003 are active. I then need to cancel/close this each time and then either wait or manually re-access a connection. I use local wireless internet access (2.5mb download) and a wireless router in my home.

I use Microsoft automatic downloads which are all current and their Windows Essentials for active background virus/adware/malware scanning. Periodically I run CCleaner and PC Pitstop to clean my computer of old caches, defunct registries, etc. and occasionally run Trend Micro Housecall as a backup check on adware and viruses. I've never had a serious virus or and most times find nothing. My startup includes only 8 items in the Registry section and one (WordWeb) that is in the Startup section on Startup Manager.

What's causing these "ghost" connections? How can I work around it?

A:Outlook tries to connect when not started

Sounds like a malicious type of malware that is hiding from scanners...
this is becoming more common in 2010 than ever.

You may want to post this in the Virus/Malware forum for assistance.

and I'm about ready to throw my computer at the wall.
I run Windows 7 Professional.
I returned from vacation and was greeted by the usual 500 emails. I first deleted anything that was spam, then sorted out the ones I needed to respond to. I took care of some other business, went back into Outlook to send an email and it had locked up. I tried all the usual steps....shut Outlook down and restarted it, tried the Microsoft Office repair, did a system restore (Microsoft updater had run and installed a bunch of new files the previous night, so I restored to a point before that) then finally decided to uninstall Microsoft Office 2010 and reinstall it.
When I try to open Outlook, it takes quite a while to get it running (at least five minutes), and when it finally opens the email window I am greated by a small popup screen with a Firefox logo asking me to download an html file. I cancel out of that, and then Outlook completely locks up.
At this point I was relatively certain that I have a virus, so I ran Microsoft Security Essentials, it found nothing, Malwarebytes Anti Malware, which found a bunch of garbage (coupon downloader, etc) that I deleted, CCcleaner (just because I had it on my machine) and still had no luck with Outlook.
I then resorted to trying to download new anti-virus software from the internet, first AVG and then Panda, but both download/installs crashed before they finished.
I suspect something is in... Read more

I seem to have recently developed trouble receiving e-mails when using Outlook XP.

I have double checked all the settings, firewall etc and most of the time emails get through but recently it seems to stop receiving properly.

A recent example being that I usually get loads of emails a day, most of them spam, but then suddenly not many came through at all, also a couple of people tell me they have sent me an email but I never received it.

So, I get onto my Domain host and ISP service both of which send me test emails and both of which get through, however the ISP (Blueyonder) did recently have issues with delayed emails but now claim that's all sorted, this is even though most emails I send to myself to test can take anything up to half an ahour to come through.

I then try opening Outlook Express and about 100 emails come in!! Now I either managed to do that at the exact moment they would have come in anyway or there is something very odd going on.

Any ideas??

I have Windows XP, Outlook 2003. I've used it forever, it feels like. Never had this problem before....just starting today, SOME (not all) emails going to my gmail address are not coming into Outlook. The only thing I can think of that I have done differently today is that I did the "critical Windows update"....

The only way I knew I had some emails that did not come in was that I happened to be on the web site for gmail, which is rare for me. There I found several emails (in the inbox) that had not shown up in Outlook, from someone I email with all the time.

Any ideas? I DO NOT like the user interface for gmail on the web.

Somehow, I recall choosing an option somewhere to use iCloud "cos it sounded OK" but now when I try to sync the devices on iTunes, it tells me that I cannot do this anymore as it is being done on iCloud and I will have duplicate contacts and all sorts of dire problems.

At the risk of being old fashioned, how do I get rid of iCloud and go back to the procedure first mentioned in Para one ..........?

I feel much happier with it and not having vast numbers of contacts, appontments etc. would prefer to leave iCloud out of it for the moment.

How do I do this thanks?

I switched from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro, so I could utilize the iCloud that comes with my iPad & iPhone 5. It was said I could sync all the devices; which I can, but the colors invert when I click "Open iCloud Control Panel".
The colors invert after the monitor changes to another phase & the screen flips. I went through the trouble shooting prompts & I thought that it was going to clear up. It didn't.
I know that it wants me to setup Outlook, but I already use Thunderbird?
What advice can anyone give from this forum.
Thanks ahead of time.
And I attached the screenshot to illustrate the color change.
I did try the 16bit setting.

A:iCloud issue(s)

Still no bites?
I went ahead & called the maker of the video card, NVIDIA & they said it was an OS problem. Of course Microsoft said it was Apple's & then not to be the only one fixing the blame, Apple said it was a Microsoft problem.
Anyway, took it to the local computer nerd store & they say that iCloud is changing the resolution. The service tech went right in & adjusted the resolution through iCloud, but when clicked on again, the resolution & the colors invert.
I wonder if it makes a difference of what browser that is used, to download iCloud on?

I'm trying to install iCloud on my Windows XP Pro (SP3) PC. Officially it's supported only for Vista and later, but this hack is widely claimed to work:1. Open iCloudSetup.exe file and unzip its files including iCloud.msi2. Navigate to and open the iCloud.msi with Orca.3. In the left table select LaunchCondition. Then change in the right table ?VersionNT> = 600? to ?VersionNT> = 200? and Save.4. Run modified iCloud.msi and install.5. Run iCloud Control Panel, located in the Windows Control Panel, and set up as you want.I tried that promising solution in vain. It seemed to successfully install iCloud, but whenever I try to run it I get this obscure error much fruitless searching I've not found out how to proceed from there and would appreciate advice please.-- Terry, East Grinstead, UK

My boss and I used very successfully for his calendar and contacts, but awhile back when he upgraded he was moved to, and I can no longer access the site from work. It is not blocked by the firewall, and the browser (firefox) works fine going to any other site. The error I get is: The proxy server is refusing connections.
Nothing has been changed on the browser settings and the browser works fine otherwise. I'm lost without access to this site.

A:Can't access

I can get to that site with both my Opera and Firefox browsers but, when I do, it makes it clear that I will need a device (iphone or iPad?) with iOS 5 or a Mac computer with OS X to setup my Apple ID and access it.

I don't know anything about proxy servers but it sounds like it is something your workplace setup or ISP may be using. Is there anyone in your office that deals with techie stuff who might be able to help?

Another possibility is that using the Windows version of Apple's Safari browser might help, but that's complete guesswork on my part; (although it does state that it works with iCloud).

I have a W7 laptop, an iPad & a MacBook Air and I am thinking of storing photos on one on the above mentioned as a safe guard. I have absolutely no idea at all how this iCloud etc stuff works as it is beyond me in my old age. So what I am looking for is advice on which one I should use and how to go about it. From what I have read One Drive gets the best write up but I would rather take opinions here from members who have had experience & know what they are talking about. Thanks for any help here.

A:OneDrive or iCloud

I use and like DropBox. They have a free version with no limitations except amount of storage. I pay $9.99 per month for the basic since I have a lot of photos and some videos. I back up almost all files I create. And you can share files with others. Without them having access to your folders by a simple right click to create a link like this one:

I have recently setup a new sbs 2003 server. It seems to be working fine except in one area. I cannot get outlook setup. I get the following message when trying to setup outlook using exchange. The action could not be completed. The connection to the microsoft exchange server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action. I have run through all the wizards. File sharing is working fine. What I hope to do is allow the clients to fax from their computers to the shared fax on the server. I would like to use the contacts in outlook to manage the fax numbers. The clients don't even need email or all of the other exchange features. I would like for them to have one pop3 email address that is cached to all the computers if possible. Under Server management it says for the exchange server First Organization (exchange). I believe this to be the default setting. I have set this up once before with decent sucess. Can you point me in the right direction?

A:Cannot get Outlook setup

I changed the exchange name from to companyname.local and outlook opened right up. Now I need to figure out how I can take all the addresses and share them so that they are the default addresses when I go to fax from any client. I would like to open word on any client machine and click print to fax and get the same address list. Any ideas?

Step 1: Open your browser and enter icloud. com and log in your iCloud account
Step 2: Click Photos.

Restore your photos via FoneLab for iOS.

2. Choose from iCloud and log in.

Is there a way (when I send a link to someone so they can download my files) that they can download a whole folder, rather than image by image. I've made a folder and put photos in that folder. I sent a link to myself to see how it worked. When the link is clicked, it takes me to the images (rather than just the folder itself). From there, I can only download each one, one by one. This would take quite some time to do as most of what I'm uploading in a folder has as many as 50 images/photos.

Any feedback is welcome! Thank you!

I have Outlook 15 set up on two machines -- one is under window 7 and the other under Windows 10. Both will allow me to setup email POP accounts.

However, on my new Windows 10 HP Laptop, Outlook 16 will not allow me to setup a POP account. I fill out the form for manually setting up a POP account but when I test the settings in the last step I get a message saying it failed loggin onto incoming mail server and so forth.

I am quite sure I set the Outlook 16 account exactly as I set up the Outlook 15 accounts.

Can someone help me set up a POP account under 16?

BTW, I can let 16 automatically set up an IMAP account.

Thank you.

A:Outlook 16 Will Not Setup a Pop Account

When manually setting up a POP account, not only do you have to make sure that the pop/smtp server info is correct for your ISP but also make sure you have the incoming/outgoing ports and security options set up.

I am thinking of doing away with using AOL software, but keeping my AOL email address since it has served me well as a backup to my office email address and consolidating all my email accounts into Outlook. I've got all my POP3 mail accounts set up in Outlook and my PST file is located on a folder on my external HDD that I take with me everywhere and connect to the PC's that I use. That way, I can be on any of the 3 machines that I work with and ALL my Outlook info is current.

That said...AOL is an IMAP email system in Outlook and I am not too familiar with it. I've set it up on 2 of my PC's and it works fine on both so far. My question is... Is IMAP similar to my POP3 accounts in that I have a "master PST" file on my HDD? Or is IMAP totally web based and all the emails that I see are still saved on AOL's server? If I want to save my AOL emails, can I just drag it into one of my 'save' folders that I created for my POP3 saved emails?

I don't want to run into a situation where I have duplicate emails on 2 different machines. Right now, I have AOL 9.0SE software installed on all my machines so I have PFC (Personal Filing Cabinet) files on all machines and thanks to AOL, no way to consolidate them. Older versions of AOL allowed me to backup and restore PFC's and I was able to consolidate that way.

Odd problem, hopen someones been here already

With the sad demise of WLM and messanger I now need to setup my Outlook '03 to get my Hotmail email.

I go add a new account, select Hotmail, and try me email... Outlook can't find the server.

Looking around, MS has made a dandy helper program fo0r the switch over, so i d/l it and install..., It doesn't do what their site says it should so I'm, now stuck.

I'm a hotmail address but need the new server info.

Please help me...

A:Setup Hotmail in Outlook

Try this:
Make sure POP3 is selected under Incoming e-mail server type:.
Type "" under Incoming mail server:.
Enter "" under Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name:.
Make sure Outgoing server requires authentication is checked.
Click Next.
Type your full Windows Live Hotmail email address under E-mail username:.
Enter your emails password under Password:.
Click Next.
Make sure “Do not download my e-mail at this time” is checked.
Click Finish.
Highlight the new account in the list.
Click Properties.
Go to the Advanced tab.
Make sure “This server requires a secure connection (SSL)” is checked under both Outgoing mail (SMTP): and Incoming mail (POP3):.
Type "587" under Outgoing server (SMTP):.
If the number under Incoming server (POP3): is not "995", enter "995" there.
Click OK.
Click Close.

This works for configuring to Windows Mail so the settings should work for Outlook. No guarantee as i haven't tried it but worth a try!
Let me know how it goes!

Hi. I'm having two irritating problems with Outlook Express and was hoping someone had some suggestions.

1. When I reply to a message that has an attachment, the attachment is not included in the reply. I realise that including it may mean that multiple copies of the attachment are floating around, but the current setup means that I can't keep the final e-mail with the all the replies that also has the attachments. I might need 3 copies of the e-mail chain at different points in order to have all of the attachments.

2. Entirely separate problem. When I double click on .pdf attachments to open them, Adobe Photoshop launches instead of Abobe Acrobat. The "file types" set up is proper and if I save the file to my hard drive and double click on it from Windows Explorer, the proper software opens. It's just incide Outlook Express that I have a problem and I can't see how to re-set the defaults.

Thank you!!!!

A:Outlook Express Setup

I can try to help with point number 1. Instead of clicking "reply", try clicking "forward" as it should retain the attachment. The only problem is that you will need to enter in the email address that you are trying to reply to.

Just as a note on that, do not forget that the person you are replying to may not want to be receiving copies of their attachment back as it will be filling up their mailbox.

2. workgroup or internet email client?
3. not as an email client due to the fact i use another email client.

well, i accidentally selected option 2, and outlook configured it to be like that, when i should have chosen option 1 ....

how do i get it to do the wizard again?

how do i fix it and get it to bring the wizard back up so i can select option 1?

the first thing you should do is backup the current outlook pst.

file -> export -> to a file.

from there i would try a new pst file you can create it in the account settings spot.

then set the new pst to the new inbox.

New to networking. Many questions and hopefully get right answers. using Netgear Router between winMe and winXp. Someone mentioned about switches, but unsure of its uses and relation to routers.

A:Can you setup and run outlook from network only?

A switch is a manageble hub. This means that its a smart hub and looks at addresses and knows where to forward data on your network to only the machine that is intended to get it. A hub on the other hand broadcasts the data to all the machines on your network. A router is used to connect distant and dissimilar networks together. Router is where your default gateway rests (Portal to the internet and outside world). NOW - if you are considering buying something for your home network, all you need is a DSL/CABLE Router, which really isn't a router per say, just a Hub that shares an internet connection. Your Netgear Router is all you need for your Network. Typically only businesses have the following technologies. Switch, Router, Firewall and definitely not just one of each for larger businesses. Your Netgear router does all three of these functions on your home network. It acts as the connection device between your computers, Routes you to the internet or outside world, and has certain firewall capabilites (not the best of course). Hope this helps.

I have Pages loaded on my iPad and iPod Touch and am having problems in getting documents to sync between the two devices via iCloud.
Both devices are running iOS 5.
If I create a document on say my iPod Touch it saves the document which I can see ( a blue status bar moves a cross the document) also the top right portion of the document peels back showing an arrow which I assume meant that the document was being backed up to the Cloud.

When I fire up Pages on my iPad however no document is there. I'm not sure what is going wrong. If I create the document on my iPad to start with then,as before, it does not sync accross to my iPod Touch. In addition when saving documents on iPad there is not the blue status bar as there was when saving on iPod Touch.

Is there something I am doing wrong as everything I have seen seems to show that the syncing of documents in Pages via the Cloud should be automatic. I should also say that I have also set Pages to work via the Cloud in the settings menu of both devices.

Yep, looked everywhere on TSG but can't seem to find a suite dedicated to iCloud issues - this is as close as I can get but apologies if it is off subject here ..................... more than happy to move it if one of the Mods can tell me where to go!

Anyhow, just a quick post to express my total lack of understanding with iCloud - part of a big club from what I can see on Google!

I use iCloud for all my calendars and have been using the different colour calendars for specific events etc. such as say "red" for birthdays. "green" for appointments and to date have had no problems.

After a recent windows update (I think) I now find that ALL the colour calendars are visible on the left hand side of the calendar page when viewed on Outlook 07 with every one of the seven colours all having a tick in the box inside them and therefore of course displaying every one of them on the main viewing window on the right side.

I don't even have my default "calendar" anymore though the "anniversaries" calendar shows everything I have scheduled. Naturally, as I "uncheck" each colour calendar on the left, those on the right are removed PLUS their contents from what appears to be my default calendar (anniversaries)

How do I get back to just having the one basic iCloud calendar showing whilst still having the coloured ones in the background should I wish to just pull ONE of them up?

I'd try unchecking everything but the icloud in the top batch. Problem you may suffer is when adding appointments in Outlook, it may want to default to the top calendar, but if you are making an appointment in the icloud calendar itself, you should be ok.

Have tried to download the two updates to Itunes, but each time the download is rejected. My next step will be to delete ITunes and then re-install, however I do not want to lose all of the downloaded material.

Any way around this? This is my 4th-5th attempt to download these updates.

A:ITunes/ICloud update programs

Uninstalling iTunes does not remove the downloaded content. See here for more information:

I would like to know how I could get my iCloud calendar on the Calendar metro app. I have already synched it to Outlook and no problem.

I also added my iCloud account on the mail metro app and it seems to work fine, but when I go to calendars, the only one I have is the Windows one.

I have been looking all over the Internet for solutions but none have worked for me so far...

Quite while ago, iCloud was installed and updated on both Windows 7 and windows 8.1 computer.
I see both iCloud drive and iCloud photo folders in windows 7. But iCloud drive (its icon and folder) is missing in windows 8.1 computer. In iCloud control panel on windows 8.1, I could not tick in the box in front of the iCloud drive. Sometime I could tick it. but the check mark disappears when the icloud control panel is re-open. Any suggestion would appreciated.

I am sure that this is very simple but it has me baffled.

A friend has 2 email accounts and is using Outlook.
He wants to be able to receive mail from both accounts BUT when sending mail he wants it to always go through only the one account.

This is because the second account is with ISP Tiscali who only allow you to send if you connect via them.

How can he set Outlook to always use the one account when sending?

I'm having a problem setting up an email account for a friend and would like some advice:

I have tried to set up a new POP3 mail account on a friend’s computer, and can't get it to work. He has just had a new machine (Win7) and is running a new setup of Office 2007. Currently he only uses hotmail as his mail program, but wants to setup a conventional address in Outlook, which until now has not been used.

Having put in all of the new email account info and running a test on the account settings we are getting messages that can't connect to the server. If I put the exact same settings into my 2003 Outlook the test settings work fine and a test message is sent. There is absolutely no difference in settings and he is connected to the internet!

The only thing I have noticed is that in the Test Account settings box the first line (on my machine) is 'Establish Network Connection - Completed', followed by 'Find Outgoing Mail Server - Completed'. On his machine when we run the test setting there is no mention of 'Establish Network Connection', his first line being 'Log onto Mail Outgoing Server - Completed'..

Any suggestions would be really welcome.

I have started this new job here and I am going to be upgrading our server to win2k. I am looking at using outlook and exchange to bring a lot more collaboration abilities to our group. I want to have the scheduling power of an all outlook environment as well as contact lists sharing. We currently have 3 separate e-mail clients in use. Really sucks to be honest.

question #1 how do you handle containing the latest e-mail virus that affects outlook and outlook express clients. Merely a good antivirus software to scan attachments or what?

question #2 anyone have any experience using outlook and exchange in a terminal server environment.

question #3 any tips on lessons learned from your own trials and such.

Thanks a lot. As a student trying to get this real world experience your help here is great.

Hello Tech Support! You were of great help to me in the past, so here I am again with an email issue.

I am trying to setup Outlook 2007 so that I can send/receive email from my Hotmail account. I tried adding a new account in outlook, manually editing the settings to use HTTP>hotmail, and it kept saying something about verifying my username/password for correctness. Then I heard about the Outlook Connector, which I guess I need for what I want to do, so I installed it, filled in the info, and now when I open outlook it says something about my network connection was interrupted, try again later.

Could you possibly help?

I need to set up my husbands new laptop with outlook express per his employer.... he uses aol but needs to be able to send and receive mail thur outlook....HELP PLEASE!!....need to know type of server as well as incoming and outgoing email servers.....

thanks in advance

A:Need To Setup Outlook Express Using Aol Mail

I've done this so many times I can do it in my sleep.
1)Open Outlook,go to Tools/Accounts/Mail tab,
2)Now click the Add button and select Mail.
3)The Internet Wizard pops up and asks what name you want to appear in the From field of emails that you send-type your name.Click Next
4)Now you are asked to type in your email address-type it in.Click next
5)Now here's where it can get tricky, call your ISP and ask them what to put in the incoming and outgoing server use Shaw cable, and my incoming server is a POP3 so thats what I select from the drop box at the top.In both incoming and outgoing server boxes I type in "shawmail" and click Next
Your ISP will tell you what to type into those two boxes.
6)Now,in the Account Name box, type in just the part of your email address before the @ symbol. In the Password box type your password and make sure the Remember Password box has a check in it.Click next.Click Finished and you're done.
7)Do the above for any other accounts you want to set up.
