Wireless Connection Stopped Working for Multiple Devices

Q: Wireless Connection Stopped Working for Multiple Devices

Hello, two days ago suddenly my Internet wireless connection stopped working. No Internet at all. After some research, it turned out that it was (and still is) working on one device (the iMac I am typing this message on), but has completely shut down for the other devices, for example iPads, a laptop, etc.

So far, I have unplugged the power of the wireless router, turned it back on after giving it a rest, pressed the WBS button, but there has been no progress. The connectivity is obviously up and running based on the one device. What actions should I take? Thank you in advance.

A: Wireless Connection Stopped Working for Multiple Devices

Make model of the router. If you plug laptop in via a cable can you connect, can devices see the router and what happens when you try and connect ie error message note if you have done a factory reset the password for wireless will go back to default or wireless could be disabled. Can you login to the router and confirm the wireless is active

Good Afternoon,

The small office where I work has 1 wired desktop, 1 desktop connected over wireless, 2 laptops connected over wireless and two iphones that are always connected to the internet. Until about 12:45 pm EST the wireless internet was working fine, at that time the wireless went down. However, the wired desktop has had no trouble connecting to the internet. Please help, we need to be up and running and our IT guy has disappeared off the face of the earth! Thank you!

The router is a Cisco WRVS4400N. It is one MacBook Pro, a Toshiba Laptop and a Dell desktop that is connected by D-Link DWA-131. Its a Comcast X-Finity 56 MBPS connection. (we're really close to an airbase).

A:Connection Problem - Multiple Devices over Wireless

Reset or power cycle the router. Can you still detect the wireless network? If so, can you connect to it? If so, can you communicate with the router via wireless?

I've noticed a steep drop in my Wireless performance for some time. Some days I can't get it to function at all. In Chrome, it will attempt to connect to a site, but the screen just stays blank. I have tested and experience the same issue in other browsers. I have also checked other devices and another laptop also running Windows 7 and have not had any issues with connection speed. I now believe it's either some sort of malware, or something's wrong with my network settings. I've run multiple scans including eset, ant-malware, anti-rootkit, etc. etc. and haven't found anything. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Well... I have a Netgear wireless thingy, and my wireless connection on my laptop has worked flawlessly until now. A few days ago, my internet connection was dead... So I disconnected this and that and tried connecting the modem to my laptop. Well, I hooked it back up to my desktop and soon it started working again. On my laptop now it says that the wireless connection is "Excellent", but I'm not connected to the internet. Any ideas? And sorry if I wasn't too detailed, its late and I'm very tired  .

When I bought my PC almost a year ago and installed Windows 7, the wireless connection worked fine. However, the connection began dropping occasionally, so I plugged the cable back into the router. Now, whenever I unplug it, the connection cuts off completely. I update and scan regularly. When I contacted my ISP, they ran a diagnostic and said it was a failed media problem and could not help me any further. A `Media' problem provides no clue to what this might be. I would be very grateful if someone could please help me resolve this problem?

The only info I can find about my system is that it is ASUS P8H61-MX Series or ASUSTek. My router is: Technicolor Gateway TG582n. Below is the additional information you requested. I hope this helps?

A:Wireless connection stopped working in W7, please help?

Rightclick on the wireless icon in bottom right system tray to Troubleshoot Problems. Specify the wireless adapter. What does it find?

Enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3)
then Check for Updates, install all Important and Optional Updates, with reboots, until no more are offered. This assure you have the latest driver and are fully patched.

Make sure the wireless switch is on at all times.

I would also flush the DNS cache to see if it solves your networking problem:

Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.

@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop.
Right click the .bat file and choose to run as Administrator. Your computer will reboot itself.

If this doesn't help then look more closely at the logs shown in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7, for networking related errors logged at startup, google the exact text and identifying number of these errors or post back a screenshot of them, to research how others solved them.

Hi all,

I have a Dell Inspriron E1505 laptop running Windows Vista with Mcafee Antivirus Plus. I have a Linksys Wireless Router WRT54GS.

Yesterday my laptop connectivity stopped working. I have other laptops in my home that are still connected to the internet successfully thru the router, so I think I've eliminated the router as the issue.

Initially, when I would attempt to diagnose the issue I would see a message that said 'Can't connect to Primary DNS Server'. Now I'm seeing a new message "A cable is not plugged into the network adapter Local Area Connection".

I've attached the results of an IPCONFIG /ALL as well as Ping Tests against the default gateway and other IPs.

Clearly from the ping tests, the laptop is not communicating out as the pings all timed out. I just don't understand why and would appreciate any tech help.

this is for a Compaq-6000 laptop (HP brand) | Windows Vista-OS | attached to wireless connection through broadband connection | household uses VoIP / internet /cable-tv

Over course of 2-weeks, somehow my wireless connection stopped working. After POST and launch to desktop, the led on front the of laptop would change to blue, then WLAN notice would always pop-up in lower left coner of screen stating the the WLAN was connected.

I have no idea what I can do to get this back working. Laptop has built-in network adapter, and ethernet capabilities for both hard-wired and wireless. I use this laptop when the other PC is in-use. Having this option allows for multi-use of internet without having to waiting for the other PC to become free. At first I thought the drivers may have been outdated.

This is what I have done so far as I have run out of ideas as to how to resolve this issue.

1) Went to HP site and downloaded drivers for both Broadcom 802.11 b/g adapter and HP Wireless Assistant to my flash drive. Then downloaded those drivers to my laptop.

2) Went to microsoft because error message states that drivers could not be downloaded Code-31 for the adapter. This site based on the code states that Microsoft is aware of this issue, and this would not stop the network adapter and should operate properly. This is not the case. At present I can only connect to my wireless by hardwire cat-5 cable. This laptop has option for both, but now the led stays the color "amber" whe... Read more

Hello.

I ask that you please be patient with me, as I am not very knowledgeable where computers are concerned.
So my wireless internet connection has been working completely fine on my Windows 8 laptop up until a couple of days ago. The wireless internet is working for all devices in my home except for the laptop. I am currently typing this on my mobile phone. When I try to diagnose the connection, I get an error message that says, "'Wi-Fi' doesn't have a valid ip configuration". I went into the Administrator Command Prompt and attempted an ipconfig /renew as I have heard this solves the problem, but I receive a message that says, "No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection* 11 while it has its media disconnected."

I have reset the computer, but to no avail. The internet connection icon on my taskbar shows me that I have a strong internet connection, but when I mouse over it, it says, "Unidentified Network. No internet access." I have also tried resetting the router. Any help would be much appreciated.

A:Wireless Internet Connection Suddenly Stopped Working on Windows 8

The Local Area Connection would not interfere with the wireless as that's the Ethernet port. That message is normal.

Go into the Network and Sharing Center, then on the left side in the blue section choose change adapter settings.

Right click on the wireless network icon and choose properties.

Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 and click properties. Make sure both sections are selected for Automatically Obtain IP/DNS address. If you had to change them, click OK then Close. Go back to command prompt and type ipconfig/all and post teh results here.

I haven't been able to plug a video camera or external hard drive into my computer via FireWire. I then tried a different cable, nothing. I then tried a different device and cable, nothing. I then tried a different computer with two devices, nothing.

My USB2.0 works fine with each device and computer. I also took the new computer into CompUSA and they tried their firewire device and all worked. I bought a new firewire cable, but I have the same luck with each device.

How can 2 external hardrives, and one sony camera not work, after working for a year. What happened? What do I need to do?

I was working on my PC and USB mouse suddenly stopped working. I disconnected the mouse and when I reconnected it, I heard device error sound and mouse was still not working. I have tried with another mouse and it made same error. So I have rebooted computer using keyboard.

But after reboot, no device is working. Keyboard and mouse are not responding and there is no networking (according to status bar icon). Because of this, I have no way to control PC to open device manager or check anything. Safe mode does not help.

There is even no sound when I plug anything in and laser on mouse does not light, so there is even no power output from USB ports.
EDIT: There is power (I can charge my phone through USB port). When I connect mouse, laser would just blink shortly and then stay off.

Everything is working on dual-boot XP on same computer (from where I'm typing message now), so it's not issue in hardware or BIOS.

Any idea what could I do to?

A few days ago, I had to re-install and un-install Adobe Photoshop CS3. Now that this has happened, I can't get my scanner to work, I can barely pull images off my dSLR and TWAIN capture is completely disabled for ALL applications and devices. My restore also got corrupted. Is there anything I can do? I've tried going through the registry to see if I could find anything but I can't. I already tried un-istalling and re-installing my scanner. I can only get pictures off of the camera by opening them up in Explorer and manually copying them. When I plug my ipod in the AutoPlay menu is blank, although it works with iTunes and WinAmp fine.

Also, FireFox now opens all external links in the current window. It used to be in a new window. Every time I change it, something changes it back. This might be due to a trillian update.

A:All Imaging Devices Stopped Working

I can't think of any easy fixes for this, but this procedure should fix things (although it's a real PITA):1) Uninstall all of that stuff that's not working right. This includes Firefox, Photoshop, your camera, your scanner, Trillian, your iPod and iTunes.2) Repair XP (won't lose your files) according to these directions: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm3) Reinstall everything. Test it after each installation (including a reboot even if it isn't required). This will let you know what's causing the problem if it crops up again!

My Sony PCV 100g running XP is step by step not working.

First the built in CD drive was not recognized.
Then the Lexmark printer isn't recognized.
Next the Liteon cd rom drive is recognized, titles read, 'check to see if other sound devices using this program'; no music or reading of program cd.
Then XP, SP3 cannot be installed even after downloading separately, turning off all security, following suggestions I have found on this and MS sites.
Comodo shuts down part way through a scan.
Without one of the drives working I cannot even use 'restore disks',
am running out of options and gadgets.

Are these problems related by a common thread, or are they separate issues?

A:Solved: All USB Devices Stopped Working

I had a similar problem, and the outcome wasn't what I'd hoped for, though I was able to find a way to work around the problem.

My symptoms were probably identical to yours; the USB mouse died, and the computer shut down completely, simply turned off. After rebooting and testing the USB ports, an educated guess told me that the USB controller chip had smoked, which killed the mouse, because ALL of the USB ports were dead.

To get around the problem, I installed a four-port USB PCI add-in card; the PCI card has it's own USB controller chip, so I now use the ports on the back of the card.

This might not be the answer you were hoping for, but I got the USB card for less than $20, which was a lot cheaper than the cost of replacing the motherboard.

I have been looking for a solution to my USB flash drives and external HDs for a while now. (I'm still on Windows XP Pro SP3, BTW.) The system stopped installing new drives a few months ago, even though I can take them to other machines and they will install fine. I always get that damned Hardware Wizard, which invariably "cannot find the driver". I have tried uninstalling the USB Root Hubs and letting Windows reinstall them on reboot, I have tried replacing usbstor.sys from the Windows install disk (I've even tried a delete of usbstor.pnf, usbstor.inf, and infcache.1 and letting Windows rebuild those files). I even spent Saturday afternoon reinstalling Windows in the hope that some misbehaving file would get overwritten and work. All that did was make Windows no longer recognize the USB drives it had before, so I'm worse off now for trying that.

Hoping someone here has been through this problem and has some ideas I haven't tried yet.

Both audio playback through the integrated sound card, and recording through a USB microphone stopped working suddenly - cannot play back or record anything and no application software can find the audio devices.

In device manager both devices are listed, enabled and working properly. If I launch an audio track the sound bars levels against the device do not move. The speaker next to the clock is present and does not have a red cross through it.

The first thing I did was do a system restore to a couple of days previously when it was all working - still nothing. So this eliminates drivers etc being an issue.

I have checked the BIOS to make sure audio is enabled and set to automatic - it is.

The Windows audio manager service is enabled and set to automatic.

Cannot be the integrated sound interface - Dell XPS 430 - because the USB microphone, which is not connected to the sound interface, does not work either.

It is like all audio functions have stopped being accessible to software applications, although Windows 7 Ultimate 64 sees them as present, fully enabled and working.

Any ideas please?

Thanks.

Hi,
I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop which I dual boot WinXP and Ubuntu on. Recently, my USB ports have started being a bit... flakey.

My USB mouse works just fine and my phone, when plugged in via USB, charges and is seen as a USB drive(it has a 4GB microSD card in it). However, my USB hard drives don't work. I have one WD Passport and one drive that I put in an enclosure. Up until a few days ago, these were seen by both Windows and Linux.

I tried finding some drivers to re-install in Windows but was unable to find anything. In the device manager, it shows that a device is connected but lists it as "unknown" and tells me to disconnect and reconnect it.

My drives work on my other computers just fine, but this laptop is my main workhorse for video editing(and the raw clips I edit are, you guess it, on the USB drives).

I'm not sure what to do to ge tthis working. I'm hoping that somehow the docking station is what's messing things up, although I'm still not sure why my USB would stop working. Does anyone have any ideas that I might try to fix this problem?
---

Some history on the laptop:

At one point recently, the laptop slid off the couch when I got up. It landed on the DC jack and broke the connector off. I had a docking station so I was still able to power and charge my battery.

The USB ports on the docking station(a Dell D/Dock) do not work, however all the other duplicated ports do work just fine(VGA, DVI, sound, etc).

A:USB suddenly stopped working on select devices

Well, just got my computer back with a new power jack. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that it was the docking station which was messing things up. It's still doing the same thing it was doing before when I plug in my USB drives.

I found some info on this happening to some people, but it seems no one has found a way to fix it. I would've thought that a clean re-install of Windows/Linux would fix things. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that it's worked on either.

Has anyone else had luck fixing a USB problem where some devices work and are recognized and others which used to work no longer do?

So here's the setup:

Windows Home Premium X64, 8GB Ram, I5-3570K CPU

Recently built. I understand there's been an issue with Windows 7 using different devices for audio outputs. I was told by MS IT to use Virtual Audio Cable (VAC) for 'combining' my programs/devices into the same output.

My computer is mostly built for Audio recording (Audacity, Adobe Audition), and virtual instrumentation (Reason 5, FL Studio, Abelton, etc...)

My issue is that while some of these programs work well with VAC, key important ones such as Reason 5 do not. With my particular soundcard and driver, there is a degree of latency between the time I press a note on the keyboard to when I can actually hear it.

FL Studio automatically bundles ASIO4ALL - an awesome '0 latency' driver pack that comes with a easy to use control menu. ASIO4ALL is automatically selected as the audio card driver.

However I am unable to use VAC whilst keeping the latency low at the same time.

I need some help if you please!

A:Multiple Devices - VAC not working for needs.

I have a Sonar X2 (Producer) studio. Something like your questions would be better answered on a board such as www.gearslutz.com where recording and DAW equipment is the topic of the forum.

I don't like ASIO4ALL, it can cause problems. I've had problems with trying to use it when I had a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40. I've seen other posts (on other forums) about ASIO4ALL problems.

I have a Roland Octa-Capture and an MAudio Fastrack Ultra 8R and I only use the drivers supplied by Roland and MAudio.

I can see other networks, just not mine. They all worked perfectly fine before, and out of nowhere they stopped working. Other devices that were not in my room at the time of this 'wifi surge' still have a connection to the router.
The wired connection works and that's how I'm typing this right now...

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ray

Hello laxman7,

I would start off with a Power Cycle. See if it helps, if not please move on to the next tasks.

You may visit Linsys site and see if there's a most recent update for you router even though your router is brand new.

Install and run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector from one of your wireless computers.
Double click the Xirrus Icon on your Desktop, Tap the Printscreen key on your keyboard, open up Paint then choose Edit from the Menu and select Paste, then SAVE it. Upload and attached the file here.

Please post an update.

I can connect to the Internet with my wireless router just fine, but only certain websites will load normally.  So far, these include Google, Gmail, Youtube, Facebook, and Wikipedia.  Most other websites just show that they are loading forever and nothing ever comes up.  I've already tried power cycling/resetting everything.

As an example of what it says when I ping a website that doesn't work:

"C:\WINDOWS\system32>ping www.reddit.com

Ping statistics for 198.41.209.137:

I also can't connect to Skype.  Itunes doesn't respond upon launch, but only while I'm connected.  It works normally while offline.

My phone has the same Internet problems while using wi-fi, but not while using data.
My Xbox One can connect to the Internet, but not to Xbox Live.  When I test its network connection, it says "DNS isn't resolving Xbox server names"

What's also strange is that my roommate isn't having these problems on his computer and phone even though we use the same wireless router.

Hi guys,

Our ISP has recently changed our router from Prolink H6300G to Prolink H5004N.
Our Prolink H5004N is wired to the phone line.
All devices connect to the internet via WLAN.
No devices are attached to the router via LAN.

The unusual problem is, some wireless devices connect to the internet just fine, others connect intermittently.
Below are the list of devices:

ASUS Notebook PCs x 2 (connect)
MSI Notebook PC (connect)
Apple iPad2 (connect)
LG LED SmartTV (connect)
Sony PlayStation 3 Slim (connect)
RedFox Netbook (intermittent)
Samsung Tablet PC (intermittent)
Sony XPERIA Smartphones x 3 (intermittent)

It is not that the red devices could not connect, they do so, but a very irregular and on/off internet connection.

I am stumped by the variety of devices that constantly connect and those that do not.

Does changing from G to N may in any way cause this?

A:Unusual Wireless Internet Problem with Multiple Devices

All devices you listed are connected WIRELESS to the same Prolink H5004N?

Try to move these devices closer to the wireless Access Point (built in router). Just for a test
RedFox Netbook (intermittent)
Samsung Tablet PC (intermittent)
Sony XPERIA Smartphones x 3 (intermittent)

This is my first post and glad to be here among experts. I will list my issue, please tell me what information you need to be of assistance.

I have a net gear WNR2000vs with the latest firmfware to date. I have two wired devices connected: 1. my pc 2. xbox, and also one wireless device connected 1. my cell phone via wi fi.

Before I updated the firmware:
I would hard wire my 360 and pc to the router together. My 360 online play would work fine for about 10 minutes then my connection on my 360 and pc would drop. My network status would say 'resolving issue'.

After updated the firmware:
I now have my 360 and pc hard wired to the router together. These two seems to work fine together. When I try to connect a wireless device my connection drops. My pc resolves the issue and regains connection, but if I try to navigate a webpage or download anything from the wireless device then it starts the whole dropping connection thing again.

I'm not sure what information you guys would like but here's some basics. Thanks!

I have 7 devices connected to my Netgear Router 600/3700v2 and the devices keep disappearing. I believe I have found the solution. Connect to your Netgear Router (you will see BASIC and ADVANCED options) and select the ADVANCED settings. Click the tab below ADVANCED SETTINGS and in the drop down menu select UPnP. You will see on the top of the screen ADVERTISEMENT TIME TO LIVE - this setting DEFAULTS TO "4" which is okay for "normal" home use (well, it didn't work for me). This setting is what controls your attached devices. If you keep losing them, try increasing the settings until they remain visible. I tried 5 first - no go. Then I tried 8 and I haven't lost the devices since. Hope this works for you!

Last week or so, we had a storm, and devices got unplugged. Internet service was out briefly. Wireless internet came back shortly after, but my desktop and our PS4 both can't connect to the internet via ethernet, and I can't figure out why. I've done the usual stuff: power cycle, tried out other ethernet cords, etc. Comcast has said that it's not on their end, and our wireless signal is fine, so we're clearly getting signal through the modem and out through the router. My desktop is plugged into a different modem, but also won't connect to the one attached to the router. A hard reset of the modem didn't help, whether through the button or through the configuration settings. My desktop is claiming that there's no ethernet cable plugged in, though there definitely is. I'd suspect a broken port if the PS4 weren't having the same issue. I've tried a few things on the desktop, including installing the most recent drivers for the network adapter, rolling back the driver, disabling/renabling, and just deleting it and let it reinstall one on restart, and trying to reset the IP stack. I'm posting links to screenshots of some of the command prompt commands I've tried, and the results. They vary a little bit, I've gone into the registry to enable some permissions after access was denied. Any ideas you can send my way are greatly appreciated.

I bought this PlayStation2-like usb gamepad from cd-r King (a local gadget store here in the philippines). It was perfectly working alright on my windows xp desktop pc.

Now i have a new laptop, windows 7 home premium, and the same gamepad worked fine and was able to play a couple of games with it. Until recently (actually more or less a month ago), it just stopped working. Whenever i plug it, it keeps saying 'USB Device not recognized' and 'Device driver was not successfully installed' and the 'Code 43 error'.

What can i do? I really want to play with it. It worked before, i may just have done or installed something that conflicted with it. I tried it with my friend's laptop (xp) and it was working fine. I also tried another usb gamepad (from the same store but different model) on my windows7 laptop and it worked fine.

It's very strange. I wish someone could help. thanks!

P.S. I searched the web and this forum but no luck. I tried
installing/uninstalling drivers
disabling/enabling the device from device manager
uninstalling all devices under Universal Serial Bus Controllers
turning off my computer for a few minutes (my laptop's battery is not user-removable though)

All of a sudden my Laptop and TIVO stopped connecting to the internet through my Linksys router. The network will appear on my Laptop, but it refused to connect (even when sitting next to the router). My TIVO and Laptop did connect when I tested them on another network. The router worked fine when I tested it at a friend's house. I also tried to power cycle the router and cable modem (Motorola), but it does not work. I can get internet by connecting directly to the router or modem. The setup has not changed. It tried everything I could find on this forum. The only thing I haven't done is call the ISP. Any thoughts on what to try next? I can supply more information when I get home.

I have an Nvidia card, a GeForce Ti 4200 with DVI and VGA out under Windows 2000. I bought a new monitor yesterday to use the DVI and I got it working as two desktops.

Today I tried using the Pivot software that came with the new monitor that is supposed to allow me to use the 'rotate the LCD screen 90 degrees for document viewing' feature. It rotated the wrong screen, and messed up my mouse orientation as well. When I tried to exit the pivot program both screens went blank.

Now I cannot get windows to start normally, but VGA mode works, and my displays are clones. Every time I let windows start on its own, when it would start to show the desktop, everything goes blank. I know it's not starting normally because I no longer get tne startup sounds.

In safe mode, I uninstalled Pivot and it had no effect. I cannot reinstall it in VGA mode.

Help!

Ok I dont know even where to start on this one.

First sign I had that something was off was VLC not working. I tried a few simple things to get it working again like reinstalling and normal things like that and nothing worked. I tried a system restore to earlier on today when it was working and nothing again was happening.

Then I thought I would see about any Windows updates, windows update doesnt open from any link or path, soon as I try it I have to manualy close explorer.exe and restart that again.

I thought I would then try the repair on the Windows disc...my system isnt reading any discs!!

In the space of 45minutes my PC has been dying...I dont know why.

Any ideas?

what devices do you have connected the router anything else wireless
make and model of the pc

does the PC work if you connect to the router by a cable ?
if not
try connecting directly to the modem and see if that works OK

we need to see some details, which will mean you need to copy to a working PC

{run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC

http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php
Direct link to the program is here http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifi_download_redirect.php
Then run and install the program
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.

Hello,

Seems that you've done all sorts of troubleshooting. Have you tried opening up the case and see if the card can be taken out then reseat it properly? Careful though, you don't want to damage the Motherboard.

I get the "program has stopped working" error dialog box with Notepad, Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe Acrobat and even with DDS while I was following the preparation steps before posting here.  At first, I got a dialog box that said an add-in was the problem and asked me if I wanted to remove it by clicking.  I did this a few times but still could not launch the program I was trying to open which was Outlook.  I'm sure now that I should not have clicked.  At this point, I only get the Program has stopped working dialog box with an option to close program.  This all started yesterday.

Please download Powelikscleaner (by ESET) and save it to your Desktop.
Double-click ESETPoweliksCleaner.exe to start the tool.
Read the terms of the End-user license agreement and click Agree if you agree to them.
The tool will run automatically. If the cleaner finds a Poweliks infection, press the Y key on your keyboard to remove it.
If Poweliks was detected "Win32/Poweliks was successfully removed from your system" will be displayed. Press any key to exit the tool and reboot your PC.

Hi all,

I've got two computers using a Netgear DG834GT modem/router. One is connected to the router with an ethernet cable, the other is using a wireless adapter.

I'm having problems with the computer that uses the wireless, it has just stopped working! It was working without any problems and then it just stopped working. I've checked the settings on both computers and none of them have been changed. I've tried pinging each computer and the router from the other computer and the wireless one is unable to ping the router nor the other computer.

The router's IP is 192.168.0.1; the computer with the wired connection (the one I'm using now) is 192.168.0.136; the wireless computer (all the trouble) is 192.168.0.3.

The wireless adapter detects the network and I've tried connecting to it. The little computer icon in the system tray shows it is connected, but then changes to red to show the connection has dropped. I've also tried connecting with the encryption turned off, but that didn't work!

I've run out of things to try so any help is much appreciated!

A:My wireless connection has just stopped connecting. what to do?

You can try and determine the device Brand and Model via Device Manager or downloading Everest Free Edition from: http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html and then search for a driver for it. Download the driver and then from within Device Manager delete the current driver.

Reboot your system to allow everything to be cleaned up after the uninstall (sometimes this is required and sometimes not). Re-Install the driver with the software you downloaded earlier and see if that solves the issue. Otherwise there is the potential that your device is actually failing.

My Linksys Wireless USB Network Adapter (WUSB11, ver2.5) suddenly stopped working. 15 year old son claims he didn't do anything different. I believe him.

Went to Device Manager and found a number of Unknown Devices with yellow exclamation marks, including the following: Direct Parallel; Infrared Port; My NIC card, the WUSB adapter, preceeding two wntries with ending "Packet Scheduler Miniport"; WAN Miniport (IP); WAN Miniport (IP)- Packet Scheduler Miniport; WAN Miniport (L2TP); WAN Miniport (PPPOE); WAN Miniport (PPTP).

After looking at a few forum sites, uninstalled all unknow devices in safe mode. Rebooted. Now just have my NIC card and "USB device" (the wireless adapter) listed with yellow exclamation points. Repeated a number of times, same results. When I unplug Wireless adapter, only NIC card listed under unknown devices, but with yellow exlamation mark.

I have run AVG virus scan. Found a couple of Trojans, and deleted (Sorry I don't recall names).

Here's a "Hijackthis" from today. Will it help anyone figure out if some virus might have messed up the wireless network adapter?

BTW, Also have a scanner attached through a USB port and it seems to work.

Hi
The fingerprint scanner on my Dell has been faulty for a while now. When I got the Laptop I installed Dell security software, the one where you can put your fingerprint in for logging in, and used it. That program caused many BSODs per day so I had to remove it but now when using windows Hello fingerprint reading for logging in sometimes the scanner won't work and under signin options there is no option for fingerprint scanner. When checking the reliability history later it shows that Windows Biometric service stopped working. OS is win10 pro.

At some point in the last three months, a number of machines have stopped being able to add new USB devices.

These can be USB headsets, mass storage devices, anything. This includes devices which previously have installed fine and been working without issue.
In device manager, the devices show as "No drivers are installed for this device". However, if you click update drivers, and then manually select the Mass Storage (for example), you can install the device without a problem.
This has nothing to do with any vendor specific drivers - This is a Windows 7 issue.

Has anyone seen anything similar?
Is anyone aware of a recent update that may have had an impact on the USB stack or the operation of PnP?
Any other ideas?

Cheers

Hi All

I just got a brand new machine with Windows 7 on it. I installed a brand new, windows 7 compatible, sitecom WL-608 wireless adapter and via my Sitecom 300N wireless router I got onto the internet without any problem. I loaded up World of Warcraft and played away happily for about 3 hours on the HDTV.

Then I moved the computer over to the monitor and hooked it up and all my problems started, the adapter would not connect to the internet at all.

I uninstalled it, reinstalled it and it worked but at unbelievably slow speeds, worse than dial up, I read all the posts here about that particular adapter and nothing really applied but I went to sitecom and downloaded the newest driver but gives me the same problem, sometimes it connects at normal speed for about 10 minutes then drops the connection altogether.

Running the diagnostics over and over doesnt give any solution bar telling me to unplug the router, I have tried different usb ports, I have good signal but it just wont work any more.

I have tried running the driver installation .exe as vista and xp with the same results, I just dont know how it could have worked perfectly for 3 hours and now it wont work at all!!

Windows applied an update in between moving from the TV to where I have the monitor but I presume that shouldn't have any impact.

Any ideas? If I need to post a report or something please let me - if possible with instructions as to how to do it!

Help...I have a network of 4 PCs (one of which I use as a server) running win98se, that has been up and running for a few years now. I had configured the network with IP addresses, gateways, etc. when I installed everything. The 4 computers are hooked up to a router which has a WAN port connected to a dsl modem. Suddenly one day I couldn't get on to the internet and outlook wouldn't download mail. I signed on to a dial-up and retrieved my mail, logged of the dial-up and magically throughout the day my mail would automatically download (as setup in outlook), with an occasional error. Still can't access the internet though. It works like this every day.
DSL people not much help because there is also a mac hooked directly into the router that works. I tried hooking a PC directly to the modem with no luck, but that wouldn't really help anyway, since I need to access the network through the router. I have access to the router, which has a firewall, but I hadn't changes anything when the connection failed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, wkprint

Hi, my computer has stopped showing any signs of connection when plugged into my television. This is a major problem for me because I use my tv as a monitor. It was working perfectly fine, and has been for months, before I moved. Now I set everything up and it won't work. I tried using a different tv and a different hdmi cord to see if that was the issue but it still won't work. The tower wasn't damaged or at risk of being damaged in the move, I was very careful about that, so I'm not sure what's the problem. Thanks for any help you can offer me.

I have been running this set up for at least a year and I have never had any issues. I use my HDTV as a second monitor which connects to my NVIDIA graphics card using MiniHDMI (card) / HDMI (tv) cable. One day I was going to watch a movie on the TV through my PC but I turned the TV on and it says "No Signal" on my TV. I tried unplugging it and replugging the cable on both ends multiple times and have restarted the PC multiple times. I plugged into all 3 different HDMI slots. I updated my graphics card. Now I'm out of ideas. The computer and graphics card detect my TV however, which is strange. So if NVIDIA and my PC detect the connection as if the TV were on then why the heck do I have no picture or sound?

Are you selecting the correct input channel on your TV ?  Our main TV has several different inputs - 2xHDMI, Scart, composite video, etc. - and if you don't select the one your signal source is connected to then you won't see the signal on the TV.

Hi,

I usually hit this forum every time I have a problem, and am usually able to find a solution. However, my wireless connection went down yesterday and so far, having searched through, I havn't found a solution yet - here's the problem.

I had to re-set my modem yesterday as we had forgotten the password to the router's settings. Since then, however, I've not been able to get the wireless features to work - I simply keep getting a message stating that it is 'connected with limited access'. I can access the internet by using an ethernet cable into the back of the modem/router, but it's the wireless which doesn't seem to be working. I've tried turning it on and off again, reseting the passkey and a few other methods, but nothing seems to be getting it to work again. I tryed calling the Belkin support line (it's a Belkin f5d8636-4 router) but in a 45 minute call the best they could come up with was to reformat my laptop.

A couple of weeks ago I used a guide found on the internet which suggested certain services could be shut down to speed vista up. Since then, the internet icon at the bottom right of hte screen has displayed the message 'connection status unknown - the dependancy service or group failed to start' - could this have something to do with the problem? The internet worked fine until I had to reset the modem yesterday, even with this message.

Thanks so much for any advice or help anybody can offer!!

I am not sure we are having the same issue. My wireless was working for months and months then one day is just stopped. I immediatley called the cable company - no issues there. I then bought a new router. Still had issues. When connected right to the cable, I can get out to the internet. When connected through Linksys, it was intermittent at best. I have had 3 calls with Linksys. Each time resetting, etc. Then a fellow at work said when his neighbor installed their wireless, it was causing a conflict if you will. So he has recommended I change the channel from the default 11 to 10. I will try tonight and keep you all posted. Is this similar to your issue?

Hi there.

From switching on the PC today, for some reason we are unable to connect to the internet, yet it's running fine on the laptop. Am running Windows XP Professional SP2 on a HP Pavillion a1228.uk desktop trying to connect with Belkin wireless adaptor on ISP Virgin Media. Was running fine yesterday but for some reason today we can only get limited or no connectivity. Tried repairing connection. Didn't help. Upon going into Device Manager however I can get the wireless cards to show up but on in the device manager, other devices "network controller" has an exclamation mark and says that the network controller drivers are not configured properly. Bit weird considering it was fine up until now but okay. I imagine that the network controller is something to do with the Belkin, am I right? What would be the best approach? Tried start > run > ipconfig but unfortunately the PC refuses to show anything, just flashes up and disappears straight away. Any help?

A:Wireless stopped working on PC?!

The Network Controller is probably your ethernet, but often other networking adapters won't work if the controller has issues. Try installing the latest driver for it for your machine from HP's web site.

Pay particular attention to the CMD in the following.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

My system is Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2. My wireless worked fine and all of a sudden it stopped working. The wireless light will not go on and my computer will not recognize any wireless networks. I can connect via cable and everything is fine. I have done all the updates, searched with diagnostic tools, and can't figure out what is wrong. The 'connect to a network' gives me an error message to install wireless networking hardware and verify that the correct drivers are loaded.

From a previous thread I saw the following message and found that everything was there, except that when I clicked on WLAN AutoConfig it said that the service depends on four system components and I could only find two of them. Where do I find the other two and how do I load them? They are:

Hey,
I have a new laptop that i have just brought, with intergrated Intel wireless and I have also invested in a wireless router, which is a D-Link DI-524, when I first set up the router it was fine and I had the internet wirelessly with no problems.

All of a sudden when I got home from work today I found that I cannot connect to the internet using the router. Nothing on the laptop has changed and I have not fiddled with the router either. When I go on the wireless conection wizard the laptop finds and connects to my router, and this is indicated by 'connected' and also in the properties of the connection the router seems to be working fine with no problems. But when I open Firefox and IE there is no home page. I have disables Norton firewall and also made sure that both of the browsers are aloud though Zone Alarm firewall, so I know that it is not this that is coursing the problem.

Any help would be greatly apprciated. Thank you

Hi, riz72.

I'm thinking your problem may lie within your DNS, so..

"Start" | "Run..." | Type "CMD" into the dialog box | You should now see a black window with a blinking cursor, this is what we want.
Now type in "ipconfig /flushdns" then "ipconfig /release" then "ipconfig /renew" | Now, finally enter "exit" or just close the black window.

Did this work?

the problem is that,my internet was working fairly okay on wireless, until i couldnt access somethings like online multiplayer on games.so i decided to give the router a reboot see if that would do anything.and its stopped the wireless working! i checked on the laptop aswell any many other devices,it'll pick up the network sometimes (tries to connect if i have the setting on 'connect automatically') but it'll vanish in about 4-5 seconds,i can only connect via ethernet so i will leave a xirrus shot and a ipconfig(via ethernet on of course),i tried other things like 30-30-30 reset and a hard reset, but still the same!i hope theres a solution for this!

Thanks sam

I'm trying to help someone with their Windows 7 machine. They told me that there were a lot of updates that were recently applied and I'm wondering if one of them was an optional driver update provided from Microsoft for his printer. When you go into Devices and Printers the printer is shown but it isn't considered a printer, with the icon for it falling under "Unspecified" (see attached screenshot).

I've seen BSOD's result from drivers for wireless adapters and video cards that were delivered via Windows update before so the first thing I tried was to go to HP's website and download the basic driver from their website, a very small download. Installation appeared to be successful and for a moment appeared to fix the problem because a queued print job started to print. But when we tried to print something else the system said there were no printers installed to use again. Also for a brief moment the printer (as well as a couple of other soft printers like the Fax option and Microsoft's PDF maker knockoff; can't remember what it's called) did appear for a minute with the green check mark over the correct printer icon. It looked like it was fixed for about a minute but then reverted back to what you see in the screenshot without any interaction from us.

So it seems sort of like a driver issue but perhaps there's some service crashing in the background. I don't know. Any ideas?

A:HP Laserjet 1018 stopped working; listed under "Unspecified" in Devices and Printers

I don't have any trouble shooting ideas on this. Might be best to just delete it and then install it from scratch--using the latest installation package from HP's site if there is one.

A:Ethernet connection works, Wireless does not. Wireless works for other devices.

Depending on the computer, there are two things I'd suggest you check on:

1.  Some computers (like my told Toshiba), has a slide switch on it, that physically turns off the Wi-Fi.
2.  My newer computer has a key combo that does that.  In this case Fn+F12.

Best of luck.

The Power people came to our door and said they would be turning off the power for 2 hours. I called up to my wife and said do a shutdown on your laptop (Toshiba) and I shut mine down (HP). After the new polls were installed, the power came back on, I was out fishing, came home, turned on my computer, all was fine, went to browse and it (Firefox latest 3xxx). The netwok is fine, AIM loads, my weatherbugs load and get this, EVEN AOL software/browser and what stumps me most, AOL Desktop, which I thought was really even a more generic IE Browser works. FF and IE7 acts as if their is no internet connection.

Wife's was working fine. Reset Sat Modem, Reset Netgear Router. Tried everything I know, crapped out. RESET ROUTER to generic unsecure mode, no different. Uninstallted Mcaffe, nothing, Turned off Windows Firewall, NOTHING. Both browers act like no internet connection (Even went Cat5 hard wire, no change) I am a hardware guy, certainly not a software guy for 25 years. This one has me stumped. As I said AOL works with its browser, desktop works, all the stuff like AIM (standalone) works, Sidebar internet items work, connection is right, no browers.

Any Ideas, wrong forum? Something makes me believe hardware, so I backed it all up and did a simple restore that does not FORMAT or remove files, nothing, went back to SEP 12th Recovery, no help.I am stumped??

Thanks

I've got a problem on my thinkpad which I've never encountered before.

Last night my internet connection worked fine (dsl, wireless router). This morning, I brought it to work and tried to use it here and it's very slow, and when it DOES work, I have to refresh the page several times or else I get the "page cannot be displayed" message in Chrome.

I figured it was the internet at the office, so I brought it home and it's doing the same thing. So I've isolated the problem to just this computer. All other computers on my home network and office network are not experiencing this problem.

I've tried ipconfig/release & renew, flushdns, all to no avail.
I am able to ping google.com for instance. I was also able to ping my router at home.

What else should I try to fix this? It's driving me mad!

Thanks in advance!

I have an HP Pavillion 9000v notebook with Vista Ultimate. I have a cable modem connection (RoadRunner / RCA Modem). Both direct (Cat-5 to ethernet plug) and Wifi worked fine for a few weeks. Now, suddenly I cannot access the internet.

The cable modem connects and shows the connection. Also, wifi finds my inhouse internet wifi. The Vista Network map shows the connection from the LAN (or Wifi) to the PC, but the connection from the PC to the Internet has an "X" on it.

When I connect my cable modem to my old Win XP laptop, I have no trouble connecting. The cable internet service says that it's a Vista problem and that I should contact my PC's manufacturer.

I have had some blue screen of death episodes as well as a number of "Windows need to correct errors on your hard drive" situations after I was forced to do a cold (push the button) restart when the PC froze. CHKDSK ran and corrected many broken files.

It sounds like there is a general problem with Vista getting internet connectivity. It may not be very widespread, but enough people are getting it so raise flags. Can anyone help with resolving this situation. I need my interenet and my old Dell Inspiron is, well, too old to be of much use to me any more. Plus, I paid for a new PC and OS, I want to be able to use it!!

Thanks

OK, Here's how this works:

Host: XP pro laptop, attached to university network LAN, internet connection sharing enabled on LAN, sharing with laptop's wireless network card.

Wireless network created with alphanumeric WEP key.

Clients: friends laptops, my own nokias (n95), 5800 etc

Took a while to set up, but for two weeks I had internet connection sharing nicely set up. At first my client devices were only getting my local university network internet, but that turned out to be a proxy setting.

Now, for no clear reason, Internet connection sharing has stopped working.

I can still connect to the wireless network broadcast from my laptop from my various clients (laptop and phones) but none of them can get any data. I've had a look at the wireless network's status (once it's shaken hands with the client, the a window pops up to tell me I have a strong wireless network) - but the wireless status always says SENT (30 packets +), RECEIVED (0).

Received is always on 0. That's a problem I guess.

Then eventually the phone or laptop just times out.

So I can make the wireless connection as I used to, but can't get any internet on the client devices. All my dns / ip settings etc are set to auto, and I've removed any proxy settings as they didn't seem to help.

I don't know why it's stopped working, but I'd love your help to get it back. Thanks

Hooray - I found a solution.

Restart the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service from services.msc

Hi,

New to this forum. Hope you can help.

I have been using an external monitor (Samsung PX2370) with my Toshiba laptop (about 2 years old), connected via an HDMI cable. Up until today it has been working fine. This morning the audio stopped working. Now the laptop does not find the external monitor at all when connected via HDMI. I can connect fine with the VGA cable. I have tried a new HDMI cable but it doesn't help.

Any ideas would be most welcome

Regards

Seayeti

A:HDMI connection to second monitor has stopped working

Is there anything blocking the HDMI ports on the computer and the monitor? you may want to clean them with compressed air.

If that doesn't help try connecting the laptop to another monitor or TV via HDMI so you can determine if it is the HDMI on the computer or the monitor.

From a Windows 8.1 OS, I am connecting to a remote desktop.  The remote desktop loads, but I immediately get an error "Remote Desktop Connection Has Stopped Working".  My only option is "Close".  I have followed instructions
for other reported issues, but nothing has worked (i.e. disable sound, disable printers).  I have also run "sfc /scannow" and "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth".  The problem persists.
I have included the Error Log.  Any thoughts?

If anyone could help I'd be very grateful.

I've been sharing the connection with my laptop which is wireless through an Ethernet cable to my desktop through internet connection sharing, it's been working for a year now until my desktop had updated windows.

After that I could not connect to the internet with my desktop and trouble shooting says that "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid ip configuration. I've searched everywhere and have yet to find a solution.

Please help me, life without internet sucks I think everyone knows the feeling.

Thank you for taking the time to read this thread any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys. My SO is Win8 64 and I've accessing this pc almost everytime by remote desktop. From inside my network and from my work pc (port 3389 open). Last week, suddenly it stopped working. I didn't make any change. I have already tried to change the rdp port to 3391 but I'm still unable to connect to it. Can someone give me some tips?
Thanks

A:Remote desktop connection stopped working

Hi,

1. What settings have you got set in the 'Remote Settings' screen?
Can you remote to that PC from any computer or do none of them work?

2. Try disabling the firewall on the machine you are connecting to for a minute to test if you can remote to it with the firewall turned off.

Hi guys.

Last night when I turned on my computer for normal usage, the wifi lit wouldn't even turn on. Obviously it's not working.

I tried restarting the computer (which will generally solve the problem. Not this time), then I uninstalled the drivers, restarted the computer and reinstalled them again. And nothing seems to work.

The WLAN adapter is seen on the BIOS, and the Device Manager too. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

I don't know what to do! any suggestions?

A:My wireless adapter stopped working

Is it a USB adapter? Try switching it in a different USB port. If its an internal adapter, try removing it and plugging it back in.

Someday a networking guru can tell me why this works, but I'll just leave it here for others. I have a D-Link DI-604 that has worked happily for about 4 years. This includes a wired-in connection and 5-6 other devices (laptop, WII, Tivo, etc.). Last week, the wireless suddenly stopped working though the wired-in is fine. It broadcasts, but nothing could connect to it.

After rebooting things (router, laptop, desktop) and powering down everything and powering back up, the wireless connections still did not work and I was a wits end. I reset the DI-604 back to the factory settings using the Reset button on the back. I went through the configuration steps again, but neglected to rename the Wireless Network Name. I originally had it as the name of our cat (wife's request). So when I rebooted things, I had left the Wireless Network Name to the default "dlink". Everything started working. Super! I saw that the name was still the default, so I went into the web-page for the router to change it back to the cat's name. After doing that, the DI-604 rebooted (which I expected). I then checked the wireless connections and nothing was working again...arrrgghh. So, I went back in and changed the Wireless Network Name back to dlink, rebooted the router again and now everything works again.

So, bottom line. If your wireless stops working, take 2 minutes, rename the Wireless Network Name to dlink and reboot. If that doesn't work, you may need to reset back to yo... Read more

That's pretty odd, I'd try updating the firmware and see if that makes a difference.

I recently did a clean installation of Windows 7 Home Premium on an old laptop of mine. I installed the driver for the wireless adapter and everything started working fine. Now, however, it seems the wireless adapter has stopped working entirely, as in, it's not a driver issue. So far, I've tried reinstalling the drivers, starting windows in safe mode with networking, and then restoring the system to a point where I knew it had been working, and none of these have worked; which leads me to the conclusion that this is a hardware-based issue. So I'm just wondering about what possibilities there are for this sort of problem to exist?

Hello-- the other day my mouse and keyboard were working fine. I unplugged them to use on another computer and at first the arrow kept staying fixed (mouse was not working) and if I got the mouse working the keyboard didn't- finally I switched to my old wired components and did what I needed to do. Well, when I set my normal computer back up the mouse worked fine but i have been unable to get the wireless keyboard working again no matter what. i have reset it multiple times, changed the batteries, restarted the computer, unplugged it from computer and replugged it, etc. Keep getting the mouse working but no response from the keyboard (other than when I hit the 'connect' button on the main base and the keyboard the green light on keyboard does flash). I can't find the manual so I don't know if there is some weird key combination that maybe unlocks the keyboard??

Right now I am successfully using the wireless mouse but had to plug in my junky wired keyboard to type this message-- any advice would be appreciated. BTW it is a Logitech mx3000 and has worked perfectly since I bought it months ago except whenever it needed batteries.

A:Wireless keyboard stopped working

Reseat the USB connector. Some usb plugs are picky and will not "see" the connection unless it's in all the way. Also check your device manager to see if anything has a splat (yellow triangle with an exclamation mark). Fix that problem, too.

Winows 98se, HP xe2 laptop, linksys wpc54g wireless adapter.

Was working fine. On booting up yesterday, got message "Your network adpter...is not working properly. You may need to set it up again"

Have tried uninstalling drivers, removing device in device manager. Then reinstalling, drivers first then the card itself as per the instructions. Get part of the way through then it asks me to insert windows98se cd. When I do it says it cannot find file iphlpapi.dll. And so that's where I'm stuck. Running search I do have file iphlpapi.dll on my computer at c:\windows\vcm. But if I type that in it is still no good. Have tried downloading iphlpapi.dll from the internet but then I get message cannot find services.

Have tried restoring the registry to a time when it was working but it still doesn't work.

Have tried a different pci adapter slot - no difference.
Haven't got another laptop to see if it's the card at fault.

Hi Nick,

I have my old Win98SE disk slaved to my WinXP Pro SP2 and found iphlpapi.dll in what would be: C:\Windows\System

Faced with your situation, I would try to copy the file from C:\Windows\vcm to C:\Windows\System and try to resume what you are doing to completion.

My Sony laptop has stopped working

Wireless switch is on, but network diagnostics keep telling me to switch it on

During reboot the light goes on and then when fully booted it turns off

I have disabled and enabled the network adapter

I have checked the adapter and the driver is upto date and the system tells me it is working properly

Is there anything else I can check?

Many Thanks

A:Wireless has stopped working on laptop

Go to the Device Manager and uninstall the driver for the network adapter. Restart the laptop and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically. See if this clears up the problem. If not, it might have failed. You could try going to Add and Remove Programs (if XP) or Programs and Features (if Vista or W7) and uninstall the LAN driver if one is there and install a fresh driver from Sony.

If none of that works, consider getting a USB wireless adapter.

I tried looking around for a solution but can't seem to find anyone with a similar issue to mine. I just bought an ASUS usb n53 wireless adapter. I was previously using a Rosewill wireless adapter just before I installed the new one and everything with my connection was fine. After I downloaded the drivers off the disc and tried to open the utility program for the adapter I get this message: Wireless Lan Control Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Not sure what I need to do at this point. Thanks in advance for the help. Just let me know any info you need for me and I'll post back asap.

I tried going to the ASUS website and downloading newer versions of the utility and drivers but to no avail. I also tried turning off my anti virus software but that didnt work either.

I was using the internet on my laptop and the conection went off for a few seconds. After that, I couldn't access the router anymore, not even by cable. So I tried, te basic turn it on and off and I could access it by cable, but the wireless is still not working on my laptop. I checked if the wireless board was properly configured and everything seems alright.
I think the problem is on the laptop because the wireless works on my phone and tablet!

Ok heres the deal. My computer is quite old and recently is having a problem where every know and then it would get the blue screen of death and give up. So I found out is because it needed to get a cleaning. So when I was trying to open it I accidentaly, while trying to remove the top, broke a wire (turned out it opened from the side). It's an HP Pavilion m9715f.

Ever since then internet has stopped working. It's not a virus as I have done a full system restore. And when I try to reset the ipv4, it tells me "echo request failed". I have tried so many things but to no avail. Help would be very aprreciated

Im pretty sure it's the cable at the top but I don't know what it does exactly.

Thanks in advanced to all feedback

what to do?

A:wireless adapter just stopped working

What kind of adapter? PCI card, PCMCIA card, USB, internal, external.
What does Device Manager show for the adapter?
What does ipconfig /all show for the adapter.
Can you connect by ethernet cable with no problems?
Could be corrupted drivers. The adapter has died. TCP/IP stack problems.

My computer is unable access my router. The power went out for a second and clearly that did something. I have an HP p7-1174 desk top, running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. The processor is an AMD A8-3800.

There are now several devices in the manager with yellow exclamation points, all relegated to the LAN. I get a Code 31, unable to load drivers message. I ran the sfc scan and there were no integrity violations. I tried updating drivers without any luck. My router is working fine because my laptop and iPad both work online.

The problem seems to be that Windows can't load the drivers for my 802.11n wireless LAN card. I tried updating drivers but it said the driver was up to date. I tried changing manually but the only two listed were the same and when I clicked one, it said Windows was unable to load.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to Seven Forums,

If your computer was trouble free, have you tried a System Restore and restore to a point when your Wi-Fi was working?

Boot to Safe Mode with Networking by restarting your computer, tapping F8 then selecting this option, disable your AV or Security software. Locate Device Manager, uninstall all the drivers with the ! symbol, restart your computer and let your Windows auto detect and reinstall all the drivers. See if this helps.

I am using Windows Vista home premium edition. My computer is an LGR50.

My wireless internet has suddenly stopped working. It used to be able to connect to any wireless network with no problems, but for the last month it has not been able to detect any networks. When ever I say "identify the problem" it says there is nothing wrong with my computer and it must be the router. I ran a virus scan and everything was fine, ran a defrag, everything was fine. I know the wireless "button" is on. I used my device manager to look at my network adapters and there are "warning signs" saying that my mass storage controller is "defective" and also pretty much all of my network adapters (except my bluetooth). I downloaded the newest WiFi link 4965AGN and it's still not working. I can't seem to figure out what is wrong with it!

Any help appreciated

Thanks!

Have you tried connecting using a wired connection?

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

I'd like to see this as well.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Hi

Both LAN and wireless are suddenly not working on my 8943G Acer Aspire - up until today was working fine although wireless would constantly drop out. Apparently an issue with the 8943G however updates from acer for this just froze the machine every time. (just mentioning this in case).

Anyway - now the LAN connection has stopped working too. Connection is there (working on other devices in house and I'm on another computer connected right now) It's telling me there is no internet access and message reads:

Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)
TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 - have tried using manually entering DNS settings instead of obtain automatically (following solutions online)

Have also tried disabling the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miiport Adapter (solution online again although this was more for wireless not working)

Disabled Firewall also and running a full virus scan now.

Thanks in advance for any help.

On Thursday I turned on my Xbox and found my xbox live wouldn't connect to the internet, thought it was strange so I checked my IPhone, same thing.I go and check my school laptop and it also would not connect to the wireless. However, my personal laptop which is connected to my router through the Ethernet cable worked fine for a few days. Then the internet on it went out, which my Windows troubleshooter told me was my DNS server not responding. Which I fixed by changing my preferred DNS server to 208.067.222.222 which fixed it on my laptop but has not fixed the wireless. I have a Westell Versalink Model 327W router if that helps at all.

You will definitely want to perform a reset on the router using the reset button on the router. Router's typically will lose wireless while the wired connections stay active.

Sometimes a 30-30-30 reset is required to fix these types of problems.
