Loading Software & Drivers

Q: Loading Software & Drivers

Hi,
I am using a notebook which has windows 7 professional operating system on it. I use Windows XPMode to operate software applications that cannot run on a 64bit system. In general my system works fine in both Windows7 and XPMode, however, if I have to install
new software or drivers and if I get any updates for my computer it appears to cause problems whenever I next log on.
The computer boots up to the log on page, but my mouse and keyboard do not work, so I cannot access my log on profile or enter my password. Each time this happens I have to restore my computer to and earlier restore point just to access my device, but this
is not a good situation because I currently have to add new software for a particular application. I think that there is a conflict between the Windows7 and WindowsXP that might be causing this and am not sure how to go about resolving this issue. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
KFin.

I have built a new PC, I had it working at the start. for couple of days. i started then to update and install drivers off the chipset support disc. I have a ASUS P5G4IT-M, the installion of these drivers seemed to go alrite. Then when I downloaded the updates through windows and tried to restart the PC it wouldn't restart. i tried repairing the error. The first time it said windows had repaired the errors but it still didn't work. so i tried it again, it keeping saying that I recently attached a device to the computer, such as a camera or portable music device. which i didn't. then i says remove and restart. When i restart after the windows repair it goes down the list of files loading in safe mode and it stops when loading some of the drivers. Is there some way of clearing this error or wiping the memory off my hardrive and loading windows again onto the PC??

A:Drivers not loading,

Hello Dundalkfc and welcome to the forum
Did you try to restore your system?
Try the following:
On powering your system, press F8 many times and select safe boot then enter.
In the search box type: restore point. You will be presented by many choices but you have to choose restore your computer to an earlier time then go to the restore point where the computer did well.
Maybe this help till you find the proper drivers.
Good luck

Well; first; are all of your system devices working correctly without them being checked? If so; i would leave it the way it is; if not i would go ahead and try checking the boxes for those drivers and see what happens.

When I bought this computer ( Dell XPS 720 ) all drivers were installed . ?1, where do they go.? 2nd ? , why do I have folders on the "C" drive that are marked drivers, and one marked Dell which also has drivers.? If they are already installed in windows , can I delete those in these folders. I ask these ? as I am in the process of upgrading my XPS 720. I am replacing both HD and the mobo, i7 cpu, 1.2 G GPU, PSU . I will keep the DVD and CD rom as they work fine. I have all original disks for these items and once Win7-64 bit is installed I will install the drivers that are necessary.

Thanks for any help

Otto

A:Loading drivers

Now then...

In your "dell" folder you will find the drivers for your specific devices. The Drivers folder usually has the compressed files (and are usually named crazy things like R1292374.exe).

DVD/CD players that come with Dell computers usually have drivers that are native to Windows, so you should be fine there. If you end up with an issue, get your Service Tag off the bottom of your laptop, go to here and download the drivers needed.

Hope it helps

Hello,

Brand new W7 user.
Not too sharp with this stuff, honestly.

I have a new monitor, and also a new USB to RS 2343 converter cable that both came with a CD that apparently has Drivers for the devices on them.

They don't start automatically in auto-play to load, and my reading of the file labels in the CD makes no sense to me.

So, with the CD in the drive just sitting there, what do I do to actually get the PC to recognize the Drivers in the Folder(s), and load them in the appropriate places ?

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob! Just posted in your other thread. Now this one If there's files with a .inf extension. Try point the installer to that file as it contains information on which files to copy from the C.D. etc.

You can do this...............

1. Right click on Computer and go to Properties
2. On the left click on Device Manager.
3. Select the devices you want to install the drivers for and right-click.
4. Select "Update Driver Software"
5. Select "Browse My Computer for Driver Software"
6. Select "Let Me Pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
7. Select "Have Disk"
8. Browse to Your CD in the windows that appears and select the .inf file.

Now just install them as usual

Thanks,

I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP3. I upgraded to norton internet security 2009 from 2008 a few day ago now my ie explore doesn't always work (doesn't load websites sometime) and I can't download e-mails. I unistalled Norton and it worked fine then onc I reinstalled it I got the same problem. Norton Live update doesn't even seem to work. I posted here and the person helping me seemed to think my problems have to do with drivers not loading (see the boot log here. Also I am having trouble accessing shared printers on this computer from other computers (see here. Can anyone help?

A:Drivers not loading

I don't know who you talked to...but every AV program has drivers (many software programs do) and I have to assume that any problem that is related to a Symantec product have to do with Symantec drivers for said product.I used Symantec products for the first 5/6 years of this century...driver problems with said products are not unusual. That includes Live Update.I would suggest that uninstall the basic application and Live Update via Add/Remove Programs...then reinstall the whole smear.http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/...0080828154508ENLouisEdit: I just looked at your dialogue with Mr. York. The fact that your system seems to boot properly without the Symantec/Norton drivers...just reinforces what I suggest above (which is the same thing that Mr. York initially suggested). Try it.

I deleted everything on my hard drive using a program called WipeDriveWizard.
Now I am about to install Windows 7 from my DVD.
During the installation ( Customs advanced ) I am asked to load drivers ( I assume my WipeDRiveWizard
eliminated them ) and scan.
There are three options :
Local disk
CD-drive
Boot X
The CD drive shows the following options:
Boot
Efi
Sources
Support
Upgrade
Now I have two particular questions :
1) Should the requested driver be on the Window 7 DVD and if yes where ?
2) If 1) negativ, Where can I get the appropiate driver from ?
I also have a DVD called Intel series Utility DVD.However all these drivers need to be installed
after the O/S is on.
Or is it possible that my driver in on this DVD ?
Thank you

The load driver option is usually used if the install disk cannot detect your hard drive. If your hard drive is detected then install any necessary drivers after the install of Windows.

Hello,

I'm hoping some one can help me out with a long time problem:

Fresh installation on a raid 0 array and I am at the pre-load drivers step.

I have no idea which drivers I should be loading here (if any)

The RAID is 2x Vertex 3 120GB SSDs on an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO motherboard. (i7-2600K chip)

I've done a complete install without pre loading anything and it all seems functional - except a couple weeks after install upon boot up it shows one of the drives in the array as Error Occured (0). Again everything is functional but still annoying

I'll post up the post-install drivers I threw on later on an iPhone right now

Thanks!!

A:I have no idea which drivers I should be loading here

The RAID drivers are a component of the Chipset, but should be under Storage or SATA controller drivers.

You'd do better to install to a separate HD alone in which case all drivers are provided in the installer. Win7 doesn't much like RAID and there are no real benefits since you lose everything if you lose one HD. Better to keep a Win7 backup image along with file storage on the other HD.

I am getting a code 10 error when trying to load my Belkin wireless networking drivers.
Belkin says it's an IRQ problem and says they aren't allowed to help me with it.
I have a clone, Chaintech Apogee mobo, Athlon XP 2000+, 256 DDR2700, NVIDIA MX440 64 DDR agp card, running xp pro.
Any clues on how to fix it?

A:Code 10 msg loading 802.11b drivers

This is what MS has to say about that error......

Code 10
If the device has a "FailReasonString" value in its hardware key, that string is displayed as the error message. The driver or enumerator places this registry string value there. If there is no "FailReasonString" in the hardware key, the following generic error message is displayed:
This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed. (Code 10)

Try upgrading the device drivers for this device.

Solution button: Update Driver

To resolve this error code, make sure the device is connected to the computer correctly. For example, make sure all cables are plugged in fully and that all adapter cards are properly seated. Follow the suggested solution button and update the device driver. It may be possible to remove the device and redetect it using the Add New Hardware wizard.
Is it sharing an IRQ with everything else on number 9 ?

New to the forum..
So basically my Samsung Laptop had some problems for quite some time now.
Just crashed out the middle of nowhere. Always, no matter what you did or did not.

Soo, I disassembled it, got it back together
checked heat
took everything out that isnt needed..

In the end decided to reinstall W8, cause why not?
Question: With the installation it always crashes at
loading drivers at around 60% - 70%.
Can somebody give me an idea what is beeing checked around that percentage?

So I can narrow the problem a bit!

Thanks a ton guys!

My hard drive continuously takes about 4 minutes before it stops when booting up cold.
I think my drivers are still loading after all my programs on the task bar get loaded.
I only load: Firewall, AVG, Tea-timer (spybot), and my safely to remove my usbs.

I have XP Professional with 1 gig memory.
I've changed the LargeSystemCache attribute to (1), this helped a little, not much.

I don't over-clock.

Any suggestions on what I can do to speed up the boot?

The only things in my startup, AVG, Tea-timer,Nwiz, and NVcpl. The last two are for
my Nvidia card. I may not need these, but I tried putting them in to see if this would help, it didn't.
It takes way too long to load all the drivers, I did an "autorun", and I don't see anything that would hold it up.
Thanks

General information about modem setups. I was working on a E-machine 663IS, the warrantor had sent a generic Conexant modem instead of the AMR (advanced modem riser ) modem that came with the machine. After removing the modem and comm1 from device manager I restarted the computer, when it stop at found PCI device I inserted the CD and tried to load the ME modem drivers the machine went haywire and froze. I restarted but had more problems so I did a restore back two months and tried again. This time it stop at PCI drivers not found on CD. So I called the trouble desk and the young man took me a new way of loading drivers at lest one I’ve not seen in the four an a half years I’ve been doing this. We went to My computer click on the CD driver, then click on the driver file and pick the ME modem drivers. Searching though all the files we found the Setup file and double click. The PCI modem drivers loaded like a dream. I hope this might help some body who is have problem loading drivers.

Serial.sys is a driver made for serial port. Do you use a serial port?

Srv.sys is a driver for SMB access to the computer. Do you use SMB?

If you answered no, then you don't need these drivers and it is reporting that they didn't start ***because they are not needed***

hello guys I have a problem when booting into windows 8, it happens every time but I can't figure out how to fix it.

when i boot up, its boots just fine, very quick and not hanging at all. after i log in to windows after about 5 seconds in it gives the "device connected" charm sound twice about a second apart. its getting beyond annoying but I can't figure out what is causing it, under device manager I have no alerts or unknown drivers (I have time to bring it up barely before the sounds so i know its nothing before the sounds are made either).

i just can't seem to figure out what is causing the driver sounds. I ONLY have my keyboard and mouse plugged in right now (with speakers through the audio jack of course) so i know its not a usb device.

is there any way to check the logs at boot up for what would be causing this?

However, I have found that neither the Wireless Network Card, The Ethernet or the USB ports have drivers installed and their is not way for me to install them. I have three drivers downloaded to my main computer which are all for the correct model and OS and they are all .exe files, but how can I put them on. 1. you can slipstream the drivers into the XP ISO: SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD
2. you can do what this guy did but replace the drivers provided for his motherboard with your own: hey need help with sata HD :(

even if you decide to go with option 1 (and i do recommend it) take a read of option 2, it explains some pitfalls of dual booting with Win 7 installed first, and how to correct it.

I have 2 boots with 2 systems so I tried to boot on my other Windows7 and it did the same thing. It loads until it must show the desktop and at that moment I have the BSOD.

Then, I shut my computer down "completely" to clean the memory and restarted it and it booted correctly to Windows.

Perhaps you guys can tell me what was the problem as I don't really know how to read minidump files.

Hi, I have an it8212 IDE RAID controller. It is a pci card and works, but every time I let the windows setup look on the floppy disk for the driver files, it says there was an error with the iteraid.sys file. So then I deleted the file from the disk and tried again but got the same error.

I have installed raid controllers before but have never encountered this problem.

What is wrong with the driver files? They are from the official site.

And is there anyother ways to install the drivers with no OS on the RAID array yet?

In this tutorial,

SATA Driver - Load in Windows 8 Setup[2]=Installation and Setup

it is said that loading drivers during setup is only required if the setup cannot find the harddrive.

In attached readme file for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology, see section 5.1.1, it is said that preloading is required for systems configured for AHCI and RAID. I understand that AHCI is the normal case these days. So my interpretation is that preloading is always required. That is different from what is said in the tutorial.

So I am confused about that. What is the correct way?

I did something foolish today. While trying to uninstall some Kensington software, I accidentally turned off my keyboard drivers in Windows. Using Autoruns, I deleted 2 entries for keyboard drivers. I kinow one of them to be "kbdclass.sys", not sure what the other one was. The files are still in their homes at e:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS and have not moved. But Windows is no longer launching them at startup. When I boot into my BIOS the keyboard works fine. When i get to the login screen it stops working. To complicate matters, I have only 2 users and a Guest user account. My primary account is passworded, and I can't enter the password. The secondary account does not have admin permissions so even though I can log into it, I can not make any changes to the PS/2 Keyboard Properties. All buttons except for the Driver Details are grayed out.

I thought I would be tricky and open a webpage, copy down letters from a website and restructure them into the password (copy an O and paste it into a document, then a T, etc.) and quickly found the pasteboard does not carry over into the login screen, bummer.

When i run Autoruns in the secondary user I get a message that resources can not be altered. It seems I HAVE to get into the primary user to be able to do anything effective, but the password prevents me.

How can I tell windows to start loading the drivers again?

A:Keyboard drivers not loading, can't log into windows

I found a way to change the secondary user to an admin account, so I can now log in and out of an admin user. I uninstalled the drivers 2 yellow ! entries for keyboard and then scanned for hardware changes. They both immediately re-appeared again with yellow !. Next I wanted to restart Windows and try to use F8 to access the Last Known Good Config option... but since the keyboard is the problem the F8 key is ignored and this is not possible.

So then I used System Restore to go back to before I made the change... and this did not fix the unloaded keyboard drivers and nothing has changed.

In the Device Manager, If I right click on "HID Keyboard Device" the device status reads: Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

If I do the same for "PS/2 Keyboard" the status says: Windows cannot start this hardware device because it's configuration information [in the registry] is incomplete or damaged (Code 19)

Still can not figure out how to get the drivers to be acknowledged and loaded at startup.

I have four serial ports on my XP system (required for special non-computer hardware that doesn't support USB). When I boot the system, XP does some sort of scan of the serial ports, raising RTS six times in succession. Normally, the devices on all of the serial ports are powered up. XP will hang at the point where it's scanning the serial ports and the little progress indicator is moving across the XP screen. The only way out is a reboot with one particular device connected to Com2 turned off. The boot is then always successful. I haven't yet looked at the RS-232 lines to see exactly what might be happening, but does anyone know if this port scan can be disabled or have an idea what might be happening?

A:XP lockup at boot loading drivers?

Problem resolved. The Serenum service scans serial ports to identify new devices that might have been installed. This Serenum function can be disabled on a per port basis by using the technique described by Microsoft. Search Microsoft site for "Serenum: Serial Device Enumeration in Windows" for a paper with the procedure described.

Hi guys,
I was having terrible problems with my start up taking ages on XP. I
I have done all the usual stuff, av scans, spyware scans, start up item unchecking etc and i eventually came across a site which said i should enable boot logging and check the resulting file which i have done. I can see form this that i have quite a few drivers that did not load on start up and i assume this is what is causing this very slow start up problem i am having!
Please can you give me some advice as i was thinking of doing a clean installation of xp but i thought i'd ask for some advice before i do this as i will obvioulsy lose my existing programmes, files, folders etc and will need to start all over again.
I appreciate any help and advice you can give me.

Many thanks :)

I have a Canon MP830 multifunction printer and can not get the auto install from the Canon website to load onto my computer. It uninstalls the drivers correctly, but stops 55% of the way through when loading the new drivers. I get a sound prompt, like the computer is asking me to acknowledge somthing, but I can not see the prompt because the Canon install program covers the whole screen. After a few minutes the install progam times out. I have disabled "plug and play", Windows driver automatic authentication, and have directly unistalled the partial driver from device manager to start again. I do not have the original disc to the MP830. Thanks for your help.

A:Canon MP830 Drivers not loading

I'm going through the auto-install off the CD for the Canon PIXMA MP830, and it's been sitting at 42% complete, 6 minutes to go for the last 20+ minutes. Dialog window attached.

I loaded the driver manually, without all the extra software, but why does printer installation lack any kind of stability? Seems this happens with HP, Canon, Lexmark/IBM, Dell - they all have problems here or there. Whether it's the 100% cpu issue with HP or the inability to download drivers online for certain printers, and they force you to get a CD shipped... Printers shouldn't be this hard!

I guess I have little choice but to abandon it, try to uninstall, and try a reinstall.

Steps taken:
- Downloaded latest MP830 driver
- Installed driver
- Connected Printer (driver install successful)
- Inserted SW CD
- Went through recommended auto-install of all products on CD
- Got stuck on attached dialog box.
- wrote this reply
- pulled hair out

ARGH! I was in the process of upgrading to Windows 7 and it stopped and told me that I needed to restart the computer for some reason I don't remember before it can proceed with installation and that nothing the installation did would be changed (so basically I was just restarting the computer because the install cancelled). I had the Windows 7 ISO disc in the drive and as it was preparing the restart, I opened it and took it out. It shut down then came back up and I have no CD/DVD drive! It won't load the drivers now. I can't even play a CD if I want to! No, I don't have any kind of external optical drive either and nor do I know anyone with one. The only programs I had to uninstall for Windows 7 were Adobe Encore Logitech Messenger (for my webcam). Also, I got a BSOD yesterday. It happened while I was moving files (just downloads, pictures, music, etc...) to my external HD.

Oh, here's the messages I have from device manager on the CV/DVD.

For the past several weeks, whenever I initially boot my Dell Inspiron laptop running Win 7 Home Premium, my Microsoft wireless mouse will not function. However, if I use Task Manager to 'Restart', the mouse operates normally. Looking at the Boot log file, there are a number of Device Driver files that are not run during the initial start but are run during the restart. These are not 'Driver Not Loaded' cases but drivers not even attempted to load. Is there some logical reason more drivers are loaded during the second start than during the first? Is there some setting adjustment that will allow all the drivers to run/load on the initial startup?
During initial start, this gets loaded: Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\RtsUStor.sys During restart, that does not even appear on the the boot log list but these [not on the initial] do: Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\nusb3xhc.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\nusb3hub.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\dc3d.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\usbscan.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\hidusb.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\kbdhid.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\mouhid.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\asyncmac.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\WudfPf.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\cdfs.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\WinUsb.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoo... Since yesterday I started having problems loading some drivers every time I boot up. None of my mice work except for my wired one (I have 3 lol, overkill I know) my keyboard doesn't work and my USB 3 driver doesn't work so one of my HDsD stops working as well, it's really strange If I check my device manager it did find the right devices but a couple have a little triangle infront of it. Turning them off and on doesn't help, trying to search for drivers doesn't help that says I have the latest ones, the only thing that helps is removing them and letting my comp search for new devices after every boot! I remove 2 things, then takes 20 minutes installing a buckload of HID's and all sorts of random other stuff and then suddenly everything works again... I added a pic of the things it reinstalled, the things I actually remove are the Renseas Electronic USB 3.0 Host Controller and the Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - IC26. Like I said before, this is a new problem, it worked perfectly fine for a few years. Now it fails on EVERY boot.

Hi Everybody, I am struggling with a problem for the past 1.5 years.
When I connect any of my Samsung devices (Tabs S, Galaxy S4, S7 Edge) via USB, Device Manager in Windows 8.1 shows a yellow mark in USB Modem with a Code 31 (windows couldn't load drivers). I can see the respective device however in Explorer and I can transfer files.
However, if I start the device in download mode, Odin, a software by Samsung, to flash/update firmware does not recognise the device.
I have researched this problem over and over again on the internet and tried virtually everything I could find. I have up and downdated the Samsung USB drivers. Currently, I have the latest drivers installed (June 2016). Really believe me, I have tried EVERYTHING.
Does anybody have the same problem? Is it a Windows 8.1 / Dell Inspiron / Samsung driver incompatibility? I am reluctant to upgrade to Win 10 because there maybe other problems lurking.
I used to update my Samsung device firmware with an old Win 7 notebook. With that one, no problems at all. However, recently on that notebook all usb ports packed up and I can't connect anything to it.
I hope somebody can give me a positive feedback and come up with a magic solution. Many thanks in advance. Cheers LJ

Is there a way to see what drivers are being loaded at any particular time of the boot process?? I'm working on a computer that takes an unusually long time to boot up, and I've already disabled all of the startup apps. This leads me to believe that one or several of the hardware drivers could be taking a while. Even worse, I suspect it's the Promise FastTrack100 TX2 PCI RAID card's drivers that are the culprit, but I can't just disable them to find out. Any suggestions??

I just bought some software for my 5 year old, from the "Reader Rabbit" series, but it refuses to load.

I had an old "Reader Rabbit" CD that came bundled with a PC many years ago which ran Win 95. That CD runs perfectly well on Win XP Pro, so logic dictates that a newer version should run as well.

Anyone got any ideas what this means?

Morning all!

I have been having some issues with certain pieces of software on Windows 7...

Namely, in the first attempt to open software files, I receive (after a certain amount of time) the error "There was a problem sending the command to the program."

The software opens, but the file does not with Corel. Inside Task Manager with Diamond, which doesn't open at all on the first try, I notice the .exe file has appeared in the Processes tab utilizing a small amount of memory.

The second attempt to open the software file of interest works (whether I delete the Task Manager process or not). Anyone have any idea what is causing this behaviour?
I'll put some extra info below!

Thanks, Bryan

-Happens with CorelDraw x5, CrystalImpact Diamond 3, (at least). Both have had previous versions on the computer, but Corel does NOT have two icons that appear the same under "Open With..." though Diamond does.
-With Diamond at least, it also seems to mess up the right click function: pressing any command button in the software leaves a ghost image of that button on Windows until I right click somewhere else).
-The error does occur on my two separate computers, both with the same software/OS

A:Odd behaviour: Certain software not loading on first try.

ANy AV software running?

A real time AV scan when you launch the program may slow down the launch of the program to the point that Windows finally gives up trying to DDE the OpenDocument command from the shell and gives you that error.

There could be some issue with getting the program to load off the disk the first time as well, like something wrong with the disk or the formatting maybe? Had any sudden power outages while running Corel recently?

Hi all

I am in deep praying mode that absolutely anyone can help me out with this one.

I have purchased a Graphtec - craft robo machine, with it comes the usual cd-rom with all the software & drivers etc..etc BUT - after plugging all the leads in to the hard drive, I then insert the cd & it boots up with the welcome screen with all the relevant boxes ( which one to click ) but when i click on the SOFTARE & DRIVERS box, it tries to boot up ( with the pointer & egg timer going ) with the hard drive making the weiring sound & after about 15 seconds just stops making the sound & the egg timer goes, as if nothing has happened.

I have consequently loaded the drivers straight from there web site & they are installed correctly, but the web site does not have the software to down load.

I have spoken to them direct & they are going to send a new disk thru the post, but strangely enough when i place the same cd in my laptop then BINGO, it boots up ( software & all )

So what on earth can be wrong with my P.C or have i somehow altered some settings unintentionally ?
PLEASE, PLEASE help someone.

Any advice would be internally welcome & grateful.

A:Software loading probs

Hi golfingnut,Couple of questions and then I have a suggestion:1. What the heck is a "Graphtec - craft robo machine"?2. When you say plugging all the leads in to the hard drive, I'm assuming you mean plugging leads into the back of your PC? The hard drive is inside this box but the box is the PC 'case' or 'tower'. What port do you connect to?Maybe you need to clean the lens on your CDROM drive. Purchase a CDROM lens cleaning CD (I recommend a Philips one if available) and a can of compressed air - both should be available from your local computer or electronics supplier. Run the lens cleaner CD then remove it and while the tray is open give the CDROM drive a good blast with the canned air. Then retry your software installation.hth

Hi all,

I am trying to install Win7 on my SSD for my laptop, but I need to load USB 3.0 drivers before installing.

However, when I select the right driver and proceed, I get BSOD'd.

I'm going to try different drivers now, but if anyone has different advice, it would be welcomed.
EDIT: Tried drivers from Intel's site rather than laptop manufacturer. No dice.

I run dual monitors. One is an old Del CRT monitor and the other is a ViewSonicVA720 flat panel monitor. These run off of my ATI Radion X1950 Pro graphics card. Everything was fine until I deleted the old drivers and installed the new Catalyst 10.2 drivers and the new Catalyst control center.
Now my CRT monitor looks perfectly fine, but the flat panel looks godawful. The whites are all VERY yellowish and text printed int he white areas are all blurry almost like the white is oversaturated. I've adjusted the color saturation on my monitor, tried adjusting color levels and brightness levels in both the Catalyst control panel AND using the adjustments on the monitor itself. Itested everything under the sun that I can think of to do. Any ideas of anything that can help solve this issue ?

Ok, I've been trying to get this video card to work for almost a solid week. I tried contacting customer support, but I got a generic email telling me to disable my onboard video which is already done.

So I was using a Radeon 7000, and decided to upgrade, the 7000 was working fine and figured it would be simple matter of uninstall the drivers, swap the card, reinstall drivers, and bang it's done.

I was using windows xp SP2, and tried the drivers that were shipped with the card (didn't work), and the system would hang on boot st the loading screen. If I disabled to primary adapter, it would boot in VGA mode on the secondary apapter. Figuring the drivers were not compatible with sp2, I uninstalled them and tried the latest drivers from ATI. Same issue.

After much frustration and trying different varibles (different drivers ati/diamond) I decided to try windows 2k pro. after more frustration and more hours trying to get a different result, I (somehow) got a working display with the latest DNA drivers from 3dguru.com, but I had no 3d accelleration, every time I tried to load a 36 program, it told me i couldn't load the opengl subsystem and D3D programs would simply hang. So figuring I might as well try the latest catalyst drivers, I'm back to square one.

I'm having a lot of "fun" with a 3rd-party Dell with Windows 7 Pro x64 installed.

The complaint was that a fake support company had locked Windows with an unknown password. The first thing I did was make a full backup of the drive, so we're good there.

I connected the drive to another machine and scanned it with MWB and Windows Defender. MWB removed some junk but WD found nothing. I replaced the registry hives from the RegBack folder, and with the drive back in its own machine the password prompt was now gone; Windows logs in automatically straight to the desktop.

The problem now is that I have been unable to get a mouse or keyboard working in Windows. The board has no ps2 port, so I'm limited to USB devices (there is a serial port, but I don't have a serial mouse). If I boot with the keyboard or mouse plugged in, there is nothing unusual observed about the boot process (other than that Windows is delaying login with an activation prompt). If I move the kb or mouse to another USB port, or plug them in after login, I see the notification that Windows is installing a driver for the device. This is eventually replaced by the prompt "device driver software was not successfully installed".

The keyboard and mouse both work in the BIOS setup. They both work when I boot from a Windows 7 Installer USB. When I boot into safe mode they don't work (the mouse optic turns off when "classpnp.sys" is the last line displayed). When I boot into Windows recover... Read more

Hello,

Basically what happened is my vista drive died. This was the first drive with the MBR on the system. I had been using the Windows 7 raid (Nforce) for a while with no issues until the vista drive died in a fire. So my current problem are as follows:

1. When I toss the Win7 DVD in the drive and attempt to load the NForce drivers for my system (needed for the repair procedure), I get failed to load drivers. Yes I have ensured to point the Windows repair utility to the correct files on the CD that came with the board (XFX 750i). They will attempt to load but just fail.

So my question now is how do I get my RAID 0 setup to boot? There is no MBR on this disk. Is it possible to write the MBR to the disk once the drivers finally get loaded? Or is this just a pave and nuke kinda deal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Tom

It's a bit confusing, but here goes...

Someone I know at work created an image of machines using the Intel 815E chipset. Now he wants to transfer that same image onto a machine using the Intel 845GS chipset. However (and I'm sure no-one will be too surprised at this), the machine keeps blue-screening whenever we try to boot.
It's Win2K, corporate edition, all legit etc. Question is, how can we install the new chipset drivers into Windows without booting it up? It blue-screens before it goes anywhere, but is it possible to install from DOS, or using some other kind of alternate OS? (like bootable CD-ROM, FD, etc)
Of course, have already tried booting into safe mode, tried using the recovery console on the Win2K CD with no luck. (the latter allows him to check the drive, etc, but not INSTALL anything)

So... is this even possible? Or should I just forget this and start from scratch? Any and all suggestions are welcomed!

Howdy there Nautilus...

Question is, how can we install the new chipset drivers into Windows without booting it up?Click to expand...

No can do, the OS has to be loaded before you can install the chipset drivers...

However...

You can load the image on one of the pc's with the 815E chipset, and install the Standard drivers for the IDE controllers, and Standard drivers for the Chipset ( when asked to reboot don't ), then use Sysprep with the -PNP option to force the mini setup, then dump the image back up to where you are storing the images, you may have to install the drivers for the 845GS chipset...

Hi, Can anyone help?

I have been unable to load the latest NVidia drivers, every time I try the system hangs just after the microsoft loading bar, then sits with a black screen after one or two automatic re boots. I have updated the BIOS, all the system drivers etc. It does the same when I try and install the older version drivers, the only ones that load are version 7.14.10.9687 dated 22/08/06 and then only one GPU is shown. XFX, where I bought the card have not been much help.

This is driving me up the wall.

My system is running Vista Ulitimate, 2GB RaM, Intel 2.67 Dual core and a 480w tagan PSU

Thanks in advance to any suggestions

A:GeForce 7950 GX2 Problems Loading Drivers

no offence mate but that card was a dog , everybody had issues with it and the tech support coming out of NVidia for it was shocking , all the new driver releases never contained any fixes for that it , is was just like NV gave up on it , so thats why XFX aint really trying.

you could try a full uninstall of your drivers just to see if it helps

download and install the free version of driver cleaner

Driver Cleaner Professional download from Guru3D.com

uninstall your drivers through control panel when prompted to reboot boot into safemode

run driver cleaner and select "multiple cleaning options"

browse the list and select Nvidia GPU and NVidia control panel (obviously ignore the nvidia chipset entry)

select the "clean" option then wait till its done

reboot then install your drivers , this is ust a suggestion to see if it helps , it may be an issue from old drivers , this will sort that out

if it works try and remember to do this everytime you install new drivers , it helps prevent problems from conflicting reg entries (which are rare but can happen especially when updating to mch newer drivers)

Hi there
Last night i updated the drivers from 11.8 to 11.9 for my Radeon HD 6850, I got to the part of the install where it installs the engine for the graphics adapter and it just crashed, the entire computer just froze. I had this exact same problem when i first got my new card, so i followed the steps i did back then, booted in safe mode, used driver sweeper to clean out all ATI products and rebooted, the computer started and i tried to install the drivers again, but still, it froze in the exact same place. After that try it would freeze my computer about 30 seconds after bootup, i tried reinstalling the old 11.8 drivers but still it crashed, i tried to do a system restore back to before i tried updating the first time but then when i booted the computer it would get past the welcome screen and just go black, the mouse would move but the screen just didnt respond, the computer was still active because i could hear the HDD inside my case. Also the problem persists even when i try to boot in safe mode. Help? D:

Windows Update not working & drivers not loading

I have installed Windows XP Home Edition (no service packs) for the first time on a Sony Vaio VGN-A290 laptop. Laptop had major display problems when I got it, so I installed the new XP to start from scratch.

The laptop now runs well and looks good to me. However, It will not install any service packs from Windows Update. I have tried SP1a and SP2. The small security updates are getting through.

The Windows Update download/installation starts up but stalls in the first stage. There is no error message, just spins its wheels.

I tried to install some of the driver updates available from Sony for my model. Many of those installed well, but some "could not read system information". When I tried to install the original driver package for the motherboard, the display crashed again.

I started over with a new XP install, and am back at working computer unable to run Updater.

I have diagnostics from MGADiag.exe

I have been having issues for the past few days with Vista (possibly caused by Windows Live OneCare, but I can't find anyone else with the same issues). Essentially, the laptop reverts to 07/01/2006 at 1am, I can't use any Windows-based functionality (windows explorer, control panel, add/remove programs, etc), but I still have a basic connection to the web...my comp just doesn't recognize that it is connected to a wireless network.

So, I ran the boot log in safe mode, and found that I had a TON of drivers that are not loading, and now I am not sure what to do to restore Vista (I have no disc for Vista bc my laptop came loaded w/it already, I just have the Toshiba Recovery and Applications/Drivers disc...which I assume I will need to use to restore as it says Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, I am just not sure how to proceed). I will have to post the boot log as replies because it is too long to post in this same message.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I have a Qosmio G30 P650 unit and had since 2009. Just two weeks ago noticed that during windows xp loading the running bars under the Win Xp logo slows down and it takes very long to load windows. There was no other option but to re-install the software using the recovery CD.

However, I noted that at first the unit is running well after the recovery but after turning off and leaving it for a while and turning it on again several hours later the same thing happened. The software loads very slowly. But in safe mode it is fast.

Is this a Hard drive issue? There was one time after reloading the recovery software (even erasing the partitions) the software still loads slowly. Sometimes after recovery it is okay but after restart the problem repeats.

Can anybody tell me what could be wrong with this laptop?

Thank you very much

Should test the HDD for possible errors? there are many diagnosis tools which could test the HDD.
