Internet Stops Working After Visiting Webpage

Q: Internet Stops Working After Visiting Webpage

I've never run across this before.

On our small business server, we need to access our credit card processing webpage. EVERY time we access this page and log in, the internet goes down on the server and it can't load any webpage. This ONLY occurs on our server. Accessing our provider's webpage on any other machine works fine. The only way to solve the issue is to physically unplug the ethernet cable, restart the computer, and plug it back in.

Could this be a virus?

We are running windows 7 64x.

I have a smc router, and sometimes i need to change the ip address on my dmz zone to connect to xbox live games (or it takes forever to get into games). anyway, since yesterday i can't get into the devices webpage to change my settings, everytime i try it just keeps the "internet explorer cannot display webpage".
so im wondering if there is another way to change these settings? or why is it saying that? we had a storm yesterday so I figured maybe its down due to that, but i can't imagine it not being fixed as of yet.
thanks in advance.

It may have damaged the router
you could try resetting the router - there will be a reset button on the back, this will take it back to factory condition, however, that will mean resetting all the settings, and if it resets and still will not let you log into the router, then you will probably no longer have any internet access, as you can not set this up....

If you have the Setup CD that may have come with the router - you maybe able to access the settings via setup CD.

Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
Amd fx 6core processor
Graphics Amd Radeon Hd 6670 xlr8 edition

AsRock motherboard

THE PROBLEM:
My usual browser is google chrome but lately (exactly a week ago) the Internet stopped working after a while.
(NOTE: PREVIOUS POSTS HAVEN'T WORKED NOR FIXED MY PROBLEM, PLEASE KEEP READING)
The Internet service stops working as if someone just unpluged my ethernet cable.
And minutes or seconds after that, my windows explorer stops working, taskbar and the entire system stops working.
I can still change windows with the keyboard shortcut but nothing else from there.
The ohly way my Internet and pc works fine is by safe mode with networking.

SOLVING THE PROBLEM:
I already tried to search for viruses or malware by cmd with the "-r -h -s" and the "/scannow" methods but nothing.
Already searched for viruses with boith of my antiviruses (panda and avast).
I have no saved point to reboot my system to a past saved poiht (the last saved point is the same day that my pc stopped working).

SPECULATIONS OF THE PROBLEM:
Long ago I disconnected the side panel from the pc box which includes a fan and lately my pc temp have raised up to 50• when before it was around the 30's or 40's.
The days this problem started I wasn't home and a blackout happened while my pc was still on.

Hello all, I hope my note finds you doing well. My computer runs Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer 6. Lately I have been getting messages from various websites that they do not support my browser and that I should upgrade to IE 7 or 8. This is happening more and more, especially with sites I use frequently (Facebook, ect.)I tried to upgrade to IE8 first. I found out immediately that the internet would not run, even though my cable modem connection was working just fine. I uninstalled it, my system automatically went back to IE6, and once again the internet worked fine.I still wanted to try an upgrade. In addition to it not being supported by various web pages, I heard the IE6 was increasingly vulnerable to spyware, malware, etc. This time I tried IE7. Unfortunately, I got the same response "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."When this happened after installing IE8, I did some online research to troubleshoot the problem. After IE7 was another bust, I tried to apply the methods suggested:I clicked on IT Tools, Internet Options, and then the Advanced tab. I restored the Advanced Settings and Reset Internet Explorer Settings. I restarted IE, but still, no internet pages displayed.I ran Network Diagnostics for Windows XP. I got the message that a repair was needed for the Winsock catalog. I let it run, it said the repair was successful and I restarted my computer. Alas, no change.I tried to reset the Winsock catalog via the CMD prompt as well. Start > Ru... Read more

Hi everyone.
For the past 2 weeks or so I've been having trouble with my internet. After a while of using my computer (about a day or so),
my internet will just completely stop working.

I thought it might have been something with my firewall, but when I disabled it the problem still happened. I ran a virus scan and came up with nothing, so its not that. I'm not sure what else to try, so I came here.

I hope someone can help me try to fix this problem, thanks in advance.

Hello,

My Internet stops working at seemingly random times. I have Windows XP Home Edition with SP3. I usually use Google Chrome. I'm using the newest stable version for it, not the beta. I use a Linksys wireless router.

When I'm using the Internet for miscellaneous tasks (it doesn't seem to be connected to any website, or such) nothing will load, as if my Internet were offline. When I look at the info in the Internet settings, it says everything should be working and that I'm connected to the Internet, etc., but in reality, nothing functions. The Internet isn't slow before this happens, or anything like that. There are no symptoms prior to this occurring.

Does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance.

If you need any more information, just ask.

I have an older computer. It is probably 6 to 8 years old. It is a HP pavilion and is a XP.

I can be online and just out of the blue, it will not pull anything up and I just keep getting page cannot be found, ect. ect. Last night when this happened, my email, OE, still worked in sending and receiving messages though. I tried for hours to pull up a web page, any web page and it would not.

I called my internet company and they talked me through all the little steps in the black box (as you can tell, I am a real computer wiz! NOT). That worked the time before when this happened, but not last night. They said it was a problem with my computer, not with my connection.

Anyway, is there anything I can do myself to see if it can be fixed? I just use my computer to play and pay bills, so I hate to spend money on a new one for that.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

A:Internet just stops working??

Well, the first thing to do would be to try reinstalling your internet browser (internet explorer?), or try using a different one like firefox, opera... If all else fails, format your drive and reinstall windows. Fell free to ask if you need further instruction and let us know what you achieved.

I currently use a laptop with vista, and I have trouble when using the internet. I can connect ok, but after surfing for a while pages just seem to stop loading. I am still connected to the net. If viewing video sites such as youtube it happens alot quicker, but if surfing the net generally it take a little longer.

This happens wherever I take my lap-top so it can't be the netgear router I am using.

It's driving me mad....any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi,

The internet browser stops working on my computer after a while. I saw a lot of people have similar problem and tried all different solution but nothing seems to work. Here are details of my issue

1) After I reboot the machine the internet stops working after 5-10 minutes.
2) This issue does not occur when in safe mode with networking.
3) I have used softwares to cleanup the spywares using adware and have also used software to clean up the registry but still the same problem.

Right now I am in safe mode and will go back to normal mode to provide some of the info requested in other threads.

Please help!

thanks,

Welcome to Seven Forums,

Verify if this is a wired or wireless connection issue. Have you tried both?

Try browsing thru Safe Mode with Networking by restarting your computer, tap F8 then select this option.

Sometimes P2P programs can cause this issue.

I have been downloading stuff for my Nokia N95 phone recently and wonder if this is the problem. My desktop computer seems unaffected and accesses internet as normal. I have tried to do a system restore but each time I get the message that system restore was not possible. I feel I might have some sort of virus although AVG scan shows nothing. Any ideas about what to do please

Hi

I have Windows 7 64Bit on a Fujitsu Amilo Desktop Pi3635A, brought brand new in Feb. I use AOL (UK) via a wireless connection.

When I log on (boot up PC) the network connection appears in the taskbar on the right bottom of screen and everything connects as it should, with a good level of wireless connection.

However, once on line I will get to a point where no web pages load and the connection stops. This is verified by the loss of a flashing light to the USB wireless Adapter.

Then if I attempt to enter the network connections either through my computer or via the taskbar, the spinning blue disc appears and I can get no further, I can not enter the connections at all no matter what I try.

I then have to force the PC to shut down via the power button as it wont log off by itself. Upon restarting everything starts up fine again in normal mode. Internet connects etc, then USB stops working after a short while. It can lock up after 1 or 2 minutes or it can last a few hours, but it always drops out in the end.

I have tried the power saving options and that makes no difference. According to instructions both my modem router and USB are windows 7 Compatable and AOL says its not their software, but then Fujitsu say its not their machine and say I should go back to Windows Vista 64 bit, which I think is not the solution when I paid for an Upgrade.........

Hi,

Don't know what the problem is but my internet just stops working after browsing for a while. I've tried running AVG, registry mechanic and spybot, closing zonealarm but nothing helps. Happens with both firefox and internet explorer. Usually I start using firefox, it stops. Then I switch to internet explorer, it stops. I even tried using google chrome and then that stopped.

I think AVG found a virus around the time this started happening: Trojan horse Downloader.Zlob.AHEP but this was moved to the virus vault, so I assume AVG disabled it.

I'm using Windows XP home. Cable with wireless router.

My internet connection fades away - but not completely. My email client is still able to log in and retrieve messages (pop3), I can still log into my ISP's SMTP server and send messages, and I can connect to a few internet sites (maybe 1 out of 15 that I've tried).

After restarting the computer, browsing with Firefox and with IE, everything is fine for 20 or 30 minutes. Then, without making any changes, the computer will not be able to connect to most websites. This is on the desktop, the only computer hardwired to the router.

I know my actual cable connection is fine - other computers I have are unaffected, still able to connect to any site. Also, I'm still able to connect to a couple websites and use an email client.

Do I have a mystery firewall?

I'm using Norton Internet Security. Windows firewall is disabled. I'm not sure what else is relevant...

Thanks for any ideas!

I could be on my computer for hours at a time and after approximately 6 hours of being logged in, my internet browser just stops working. When I try going to a web page, it doesn't even try to load. It gives a very quick blink to the icon on the tab but that's it. I'm not receiving any windows errors. The way that I've been working around this problem has been to log off(or shut it down) then log back on, then I have a few more hours before it does it again. When the browser stops working, "bittorrent" still runs (a program that needs internet access). This isn't a recent problem that I'm having. This has been going on for almost a year now. I don't know why I waited so late to ask for help but I need a solution because I'm fed up with this problem. I'm running Windows7. Thanks

A:Internet stops working after a while

Hi zijincheng,

Do you have DHCP enabled on all the computers? Perhaps IP conflict, is there's only 4 IP limited in your router.

You may try assigning Static IP's on all the computers and see if that helps.

i have windows xp and my internet stops working after a while, mostly after not being used for a period of time. it happens with IE and firefox. nothings wrong with the connectivity/wiring nothings wrong with the modem or ip or anything

firefox loads up a blank screen and says done, IE gives me the "this page cannot be displayed" page. msn messenger would keep me logged on but wont allow me to send or recieve messages. it keeps me on world of warcraft if the internet dies but if i close it after the internet dies it wont let me back in.

heres my log from hijackthis:

Lately, each and every time my wife tries to access her works site, the message, 'Internet Stopped Working' appears. This does not happen with any other site, nor does it happen to her colleagues when they try to access the same site. I would be grateful if someone could come up with a potential cause and solution to this problem.

My internet regaurdless of what browser I use continously stops working after 5-10 minutes. It starts up - sometimes very slow, most of the time fine. Then it is working fine for a good 10 minutes then it just stops working. Saying it is loading pages and it isn't.

I close the browser and repeat the above again and again.

I used Hijack and the log said this:

Hey there guys so I bought a new Lenovo Y50 laptop and I have been having issues since I bought it, internet connection will just go away at times, however I can still use skype while browsing will not work, or sometimes nothing works at all while I'm still connected to the network. The laptop has a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller and it also says I have a Realtek RTL8723BE Wireless LAN Adapter, dont know which one it is honestly. I already downloaded drivers from Lenovo's website to see if that was the issue however it did not fix it. What I find weird is that sometimes it will work again for a while if i switch from Wifi to an Ethernet Cable or the other way, but then it will stop working again. Please help.

For me this is an OLD VERY frustrating problem!

The scenario is pretty simple, and many of you are probably familiar with it. Despite the fact you can find this exact problem plastered all over the internet in hundreds of forums, no one ever seems to have the "practical" solution.

IE6 (I remember it happening in IE5) will be surfing along and then without warning, it won't be able to connect to a page leaving that dreaded white error page. Try as I will, it will NOT connect to it until after what appears to be a random interval when the internet will suddenly start working again! The only other way to get the internet to work again is to reboot (a common complaint for this problem).

No, Its not my computer, its not my phone lines, its not my modem, its not my router, its not my provider... ... You see this has happened on no less than six different computers each using different modems and different internet services, with and without microsoft firewall, with and without ZoneAlarm (although I favor ZoneAlarm), using a variety of internet services on all levels, from Dialup to DSL and Etc.

I've seen it suggested that it may be due to a virus or some spyware, hijacker, etc... but I find it hard to believe when programs like AdaAware find NOTHING on the computer.

I've seen it suggested that the cache may need to be deleted from the browser. That makes sense to me, but it doesn't fix the problem either.

What I have observed on my main computer is ... Read more

Hello everyone:

I?m using Chrome, Windows 7, and from time to time my internet stops working. When that happens, I open Firefox and IE, but still no internet. It only starts working after I restart the computer. The odd thing is that my mom uses a laptop, and she?s having the same problem. We recently had our cable provider install a new cable modem/router, but the problem still persists. My Mom?s laptop also has Windows 7, McAfee Antivirus Plus, and we?re both sharing a router. Hers is using wifi, mine is wired. Does someone have any suggestions? Any help would be great!

P.S. I cleared off the box with (network icon/properties/power management/) "allow computer turn off this device to save power"/ but this has resolved nothing. The problem is still there.

A:Internet stops working until I restart. Plz Help!!

That might be the issue if your laptop and your moms is set for Windows to turn off your wifi adapter to save power that could break your connection if your computer is running off the battery and goes idle.

When this happens are you still connected to the router (Connected but there will be a yellow mark exclamation mark saying no internet) or is there a X?
Try changing the power settings Go to control panel>Power options>Advanced Options locate your wireless adapter set it on "Do not allow computer turn off this device to save power" click ok or save.

See if this help maintain your connection.

Let use know.

Several times a day IE will stop working when I click a hot link on a Web Page. A new window will start to open and then it will hang showing the busy circle. If I click on the close button a few times I can get window stating IE has a problem and can not communicate with Vista. The problem is getting more frequent and is very frustrating when it interrupts transactions while you are booking airline flights or buying something on line.

it's like a log file fills up and will not allow the system to recieve anymore.
other computers on the network work fine.

Hello everyone, yet again have a problem with my laptop. This time, the internet completely stopped working. Note I say internet, and not connection. Its currently hooked up (kinda) to a Linksys 802.11b Wireless Router (BEFW11S4), and although it probably doesn't matter, it hasn't worked since last night, which we lost power and the cable modem didn't reconnect til morning (..not sure when, it was working when I woke up.) Upon starting it up, no websites load. In the system tray, I still have the network connected icon, Excellent signal strength. No pages load. I also tried plugging in a network cable, going from the cable modem directly to the laptop, still nothing. Considering that, I believe its possibly a software issue. I'm currently doing a virus scan, but I just installed the software, so its no where near up-to-date. Does anyone know how to fix this / troubleshooting tips / previously had this happen? Thanks in advance.

My desktop used to be plugged into the router with an ethernet cable and I would have no issues with the internet, but recently I moved and had to buy a wireless adapter for my desktop because it's now in a different room than the router.

For some reason, the internet works amazing for around 30 minutes... sometimes even over an hour, but then the internet just stops working. The wireless icon in the system tray says its connected, but I get a "this page cannot be displayed" error on every page I visit. The only solution is to restart my computer to get the internet functioning again.

Any idea why this is happening, and is there a solution?

A:HELP Internet stops working after 5 minutes

Hi, Disconnect from the Internet once you have these steps.

Start>Run, type in services.msc and in the list, find

Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (lsass) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\scvhost.exe Note the spelling, and the EXACT name of the service, there are legitimate ones that use lsass.exe....do not shut down the real ones, only scvhost.exe The real ones are named svchost.exe.

Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK. Exit the Services utility.

Note: You may get an error here when trying to access the properties of the service. If you do get an error, just select the service and look there in the top left of the main service window and click "Stop" to stop the service. If that gives an error or it is already stopped, just skip this step and proceed with the rest.

Then, run Hijackthis again, and fix this item:

O23 - Service: Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (lsass) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\scvhost.exe

Set these settings so you can see hidden/system files:

Hi,

I have a fresh install of Windows 7 on a (partly) new Desktop. Sometimes suddenly internet gets really slow and stops working.
All other devices in my house (ipad, labtop (XP), phones) have no problems at all. This should suggest it's a problem of my PC but:
Connecting to the WiFi of my neighboor solves the problem!
Must be a problem of my PC and rooter together....

Update's i did to trie and solve the problem:
Update firmware rooter (D-Link 655 mixed WiFi)
Update drivers Wireless PCI card
Update AVG antivirus

From a tread in this forum i tried a static IP but didn't work.

Any suggestions?

I boot the computer, open Chrome and start browsing. After a minute (maybe even less) The browser just stops loading web pages, and doesn't pop any errors or messages. The signal exists but it simply won't load. The internet on the other computers works fine. Im not sure about this, but I think that it continued loading a youtube video after it stopped working, but wouldn't open any other pages at all. Please help me fix this, I'm running 64 bit version of Windows 7.

Edit: After rebooting it again works for a minute or so and then stops.

For several months now, my internet stops working randomly. My internet provider is Yahoo DSL. I have a Speadstream 4100 or 5100 modem.
The problem is that sometimes, the modem will randomly restart itself. It should normally have 4 green lights for Power, Ethernet, DSL, and Internet. And the activity light blinks. But when the problem occurs, the lights turn off and go red, as if I just turned the modem on.
And then sometimes, I'll be using the internet when my laptop/computer will say that there's no internet access and the modem looks fine.
I tried calling Yahoo if there were known problems in my area for several months, but obviously there hasn't been any. The person helping me had me look at my Ethernet filter (the small box connected right next to the wall). It's old, but I have no idea what that might do with my problem.

I have no clue whatsoever might be causing this erratic problem. This happens on any laptop or computer that uses the internet as well. So it's not a problem with just one device.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:Internet frequently stops working

Hi:Sounds to me like the modem is starting to fail.
How old is it ?
Is it still covered under any kind of warranty from your ISP?
See if they will replace it.
Try running it without the filter.Unplug any phones the are sharing the dsl line. This is a long shot, but worth a try.

I am the not-so-proud owner of a 3 year old Dell Inspiron e1505 (notebook). This piece of less-than-worthless crap stops connecting to the internet after 10 minutes. My other laptop (Gateway) has absolutely no problem connecting and is running just fine. Now, I am *not* using Vista, but rather I am using Windows XP. Do you have any suggestions as to the problem? I have a built-in wireless card, I've run virus scans and the whole shebang. For some reason my ethernet adapter is disabled and I have no idea why...but I do know it was disabled *after* the internet problems began occuring.

Any help is much appreciated!

Hi there,
I've received a computer that is having internet problems. He's tried replacing his modem, his ethernet cables, and even his network card. I've taken the computer overnight to my house and it's had the same problem.

I can browse the internet perfectly, and fine, and on seemingly random occasions the internet stops working, I get 404 errors, and I can't get it to work until I reboot.

He is using Windows XP.

Ok guys ....i reinstalled my windows vista home preminum from scratch and i still have the problem where my internet stops working randomly.

I tried many things, most of the things people have said on numerous forums. My bro uses the exact same laptop. but his internet is fine.
I tried to follow the event viewrs and changed many settings but to no avail.

But the internet drosp r less frequent after i reinstalled windows probably because there r less programs to interfer.

First i used to think that suddenly the computer stops reading my network card but thats not true coz when my internet stops. the icons sometimes, somtimes says there r no available networks but i can still see my network adaptor in device manager (it is not veiwable unless i swithc it on)...this means that the adpator is connected but the internet is not working...Sometimes it just shows limited connectivity, so i log off my network and when i try to log in, it doesnt...i have to switch it off and on again.

This problem usually happens when e.g. msn messenger or my voip software get stuck. When they get stuck, it knocks out the internet, or maybe the internet knocks these out lol..not sure..plz plz help me

two things i havent tried: updating firmware of the router, but most people say it doesnt work, and the exact same laptop my bro has and its working fine on our network

I also havent tried deleting the drivers completely and reinstalling the network adaptor's driver from its manufac... Read more

hi uch

when you said you reinstalled vista from scratch, did you mean that you formatted your HD and then installed the OS or did you just reinstall Vista without a format? Also, have you tried checking for viruses when you "tried most things"? Go through the 8-step virus removal tool here ... http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic58138.html .... Does your brother use the computer you're using or is it the same type of computer but separate computers?

Occasionally, a page won't load in Firefox. This I think is sometimes due to a very temporary internet outage. But a couple seconds later, I'll be able to open up IE and load a page, but even after quitting completely out of FF, it won't load a page until I restart the computer.

Anyone know why this is, how I can avoid it, or how I can correct it? I'm using Windows 98 (until I can afford to replace my laptop that broke down a while ago).

A:Internet Stops working after awhile???

Hello. This has to do with the type of router you are using. You should get a hold of a "VISTA Compatible" router and you should have no problems. It has something to do with the router. I had an issue with a "NetGear" router and I returned it because of the reviews it received.

Try purchasing a new/better router and see if it still occurs.

But also, as soon as you load the programme it stops the internet working entirely - connection still active.

I tried downloading Windows Live Mail and the same thing happens.

It's like it just kills Windows Internet Explorer dead. And no emails can come in or out.

Any advice?

Is this the only PC that disconnects - do other devices connected work OK - if so how are they connected to the router - wireless or wired

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.

please include the xirrus screen shots for both conditions - see how below.

Please post back here the make and exact model of the router and if you have a separate modem, the make and exact model of the modem.

Please make a note of the status of the lights on the modem and on the router when working normally - post that light status here.
Now when the internet disconnects make a note of the status of the lights for the modem and router here again. also note which have changed.

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG , Webroot etc

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.

IE stops after about 8 minutes and I can't access anything on the net. When I type in a site, instead of the address showing on the bottom bar I get a series of numbers.
eg. www.google.com becomes 74.125.19.147

Then the IE page eventually pops up saying IE can't access the site. My ISP says there is not a connection problem. A friend said it may be a network problem.

Can anyone help please?

Ok, so after I have my PC on for a while (sometimes minutes, other times hours) my Internet "stops working". I try opening Firefox and IE and it just says "Connecting..." at the bottom. This only happens to me while I am playing an online game - I always get errors saying "Connection to the server has dropped" or what ever. I have Skype on my PC and when the Internet fails it does not log me out (I am not sure if I can still use the program though- I think that I have once while this error occured). I have opened the ports that the game websites tell me to open- doesnt work. Firewalls has been turned off- doesnt work.

Every time this happens I have to turn off my PC and reset my cable modem & router. I tested the cable connecting my PC to the router and it is fine. I have gone through a lot of different routers - some are better than others - but it keeps occuring. Not sure what it is that causes this or what any solution may be.

Anyone here got any ideas? Thanks!

Hello!

Story behind it all. You can skip it because i doubt it'll be useful but i decided to post it anyway.

Everything started when i tried installing Microsoft Office because i needed it for my college project. But every single time I tried it stopped in the middle of installation showing up something like: "Error was found during installation of the product Microsoft Office. Windows setup can't update one or more protected Windows files." [translation might not be exact but the point is still made]. So i started googling the problem, tried deleting rgstrtn.lck file and all other crap i could find on internet but nothing worked. On one forum i found a guy who had the same problem, he said he runned ComboFix and that helped. [Turned out it didn't work for me in the end btw]

So i downloaded and runned ComboFix without reading any manual whatsoever. That's when my problems started: Internet worked for about 10 minutes, after that time I couldn't load any site even though i was connected. So i restarted my connection and again it worked for couple of minutes. It was hella annoying but at least it worked. But recently times between, let's call it "timeouts", got even shorter (1-3 mins) so i went to ComboFix site (read there that it is not advised to use by not advanced users, oh well...) and runned it again doing everything by the manual this time, thinking: "Could it be any worse?". Turns out it can :D. Now i can'... Read more

Hello Bazzah I will be helping with your computer problems. From this point on, it is very important that you refrain from doing anything else to your computer other than what I have requested of you.I do not mind if you browse the web, do basic tasks, or even test to see if the problem(s) you are experiencing are still occurring with the computer while we are working together, but do not run any tools/fixes unless I or another helper from this thread has asked you to do so.Remember that you came here for help, so allow us to help you If something does not run, make a detailed note of what problems you encountered along the way (exact error messages are preferred), but continue onto the next steps until you reach the end of my post.Always do the steps they are listed in (left to right, top to bottom).I prefer that you complete all the steps while you are in Normal Mode. However, I understand that sometimes this is not possible. If you are unsuccessful in getting a tool/fix to run from Normal Mode, but Safe Mode works, then use Safe Mode.If you have a question about something, do not hesitate to ask.Let's begin:Please perform the following scan:Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.DDS.comDouble click on the DDS icon, allow it to run. A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running. Hi all,

This has been happening for days and I have no idea what to do.

I hope someone can help.

Basically what happens is after a few hours the browsers on my main PC stop working. AOL still works, my torrent program still works, and frostwire still works.

Firefox and IE do not.

If I reboot the system everything is fine again until a few hours, rinse, repeat.

I have comcast with a linksys WRT54g router. The main PC is a wired connection and is having the issue.

The issue does NOT occur with the other PC in the network, which is connected wirelessly.

What I can't figure out is all that doesn't work are my browsers and Yahoo Messenger.

For example, Firefox and IE don't work.

However my torrent program still works, AOL (minus browsing) still works, Limewire still works. Also the laptop I have connected to the network wirelessly works fine.

When the problem happens all that doesn't work are the browsers.

I am STUMPED.

Thanks everyone for any help.

Below is a log that Yahoo Messenger made for me when the problem was occuring.

If you need any other information from me please let me know. I am quite annoyed as you can imagine.

Thanks everyone.

I have a brand new Dell pc, and it came with Windows 7 premium 64 bit. AMD Athlon II X 2 240 processor with 4.0 GB ram. My problem is that I use twitter and Face Book a lot with IE 8.0 and it will all of a sudden just crash on me. I get the warning that it has stopped and will try and save the tabs. I am frustrated with it. It doesn't matter anymore what I am doing, it will just crash. I check for solutions when it does it and there are none. My resolution chart looks like a who's who with all the red x's on it. yes I also have Firefox and it has never crashed on me. Other than not using the program, what am I to do. I have researched and have never found an answer. I have posted this on many forums and have never gotten a answer to the problem. It's not in the add-on's. I thought that it was some of the add-ons on twitter and I deleted all of them and it still does it. Should I reload IE 8.0 and see if that will fix the problem. This has been going on since Jan 31, after I got the computer.

This is the date that I have on it; Each one is the same for every day that it stops working.

I am connected to the internet through a cable modem. Basically, I'll be surfing the internet and pages suddenly stop loading (i.e. they all end up timing out after trying to load for quite a while). After a couple of minutes, everything will start working normally again. This is the case in all browsers (Firefox, IE, Opera). My XBox live connection (connected to the same modem through router) does not seem to suffer from the same sudden internet disconnection.

I've basically tried all issues related to spyware and viruses (going through all of the suggested steps and posting logs on the spyware forum). I was given a clean bill of health, so the problem is not malware related.

I've also tried things like rebooting the router and repairing winsock.

Any suggestions or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

A:Internet Stops Working Intermittently

Ahh, I also wanted to mention that I also uninstalled Norton's.

I also tried bypassing the router. Neither of these things helped.

So I've had this issue for a while where a few times a day ( probably like 20 times while I'm on the computer) my internet suddenly stops working for a little while. Im connected to my modem via a cable, and at first I thought the problem was with my computer, but I learned that this also happens to my brother, who is also connected to the modem. The weird thing is that it doesnt happen to both of us at the same time, so its like the internet is crashing. Is it safe to assume that the problem is with the modem? Would it get fixed if I replace it?

My other computer, if it is on for 2-4 hours the internet stops working. If I go on a website after my computer is on for 3-4 hours it will say it is not found for every website. After about 2 hours of my compuer being on my internet will start to go slower. But after I restart my computer my internet will be working fine. till about 2-4?

Does someone know why this happens and if I can stop it?

A:Internet Stops Working After About 2-4 Hours?help!?

What security programs are you running, antivirus, antispyware, firewall..? Do you have other computers on your LAN and do they stop working also? When it stops working contact your ISP and have them do a line test fo you. See if it is a wiring problem. When it stops working does the network activity icon in you task bar show activity? What about your task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del)? If it does you may have malware infecting your system.

I have a Windows ME machine on which the internet connection stops working after about 5 minutes. I must reboot the machine to get another 5 minutes and then it stops again. I had AVG virus program and Zone Alarm when it happenned, then bought Norton's Internet Security program suite 2005 hoping that would fix it, no luck. Anyway I have Norton's installed, the AVG and Zone Alarm uninstalled, I ran Spybot and Adware - still no luck. I also ran Cleanup - took over 1000 files off , but the internet still cuts out. This happens with IE or Firefox.

Below is the file I get from HijackThis - I am hoping someone can help me. I will be off to work now, but I will check back later this afternoon for a hopeful reply. Thanks, Tom

ps - by the way I am sending this from my other machine which is XP and works fine. The ME machine is connected by wireless router, which I haven't had any problems with over the past year

Hi,

I have a Dell Dimension 4550 running Windows XP SP3.

I had been using a TrendNet Ethernet wireless adapter and was having problems. I thought it had to do with the Ethernet port on the PC, so I just got a USB Wireless adapter figuring that would work better. Unfortunately the same thing is happening.

The internet connection will work for some period of time (after a reboot). Then in a matter of several minutes, it stops working. The wireless status looks fine (shows connected with a very good signal). However, when I try to go to a website in both IE and Firefox, it just hangs, waiting..... I try to disable/enable/repair the wireless local connection but that does not work. I have to reboot the PC to get it to work again.

Now, several months ago I did have to reinstall XP on the PC and am wondering if the driver installation was screwed up. Unfortunately we had spotty internet before the reinstall so I can't specifically tie the problem to the reinstall.

Also, I tried to reset the TCP/IP information and Winsock and uninstall IPv6 (as per other threads I saw on this forum) - still does the same thing.

Note that all other wireless devices have no issues (laptop, Droid, Wii, TiVo, etc.), so it's something with this PC. I have a Netgear router (supporting n and g). And I'd used the TrendNet adapter on another laptop with no issues.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi!
So after using youtube for a while, my internet suddenly stops. The strange thing is there is no indication of any problems (wireless bars are maxed and with no yellow warning sign). I've also used xirrus wireless inspector and run the connection test with no problems. This problem has been going on for more than a month.
I'm also new here
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Basically, my internet's been fine until about a week ago. I'm currently using the Aztech DSL1000EW router/modem which has been working great up to now. My problem is this: after about 5-30 minutes (time fluctuates, annoying because after 15 minutes of continuous usage you think the problem's solved!) all webpages suddenly become 'unavailable'. I've disabled proxies under LAN settings, tried flushing DNS, resetting winsock with the netsh commands but to no avail. To get the internet to work again, I can just go to my router page, click disconnect and reconnect and it'll work for another 5-30 minutes.

From the various threads of people with the same problem, I can gather that this is due to a malware/spyware problem? I've used MAMB but it detected nothing on my computer.

Thanks for any help!

Hello, I am not a computer genius but I know bits and pieces. My problem (according to me) is very odd. In the household we have 3 laptops, 2 used very often for browsing. The wireless internet has no problems with this but my problem occurs when I connect to my wireless internet using my mobile phone. The internet will work for a few minutes then will stop working completely on both phone and laptops. When I run diagnostics it says that there are no problems found with the connection but I still cannot connect to the router. The only way to fix the problem is by resetting the router. Anybody know why this is the case and how I could fix it as I would like to be able to browse the internet on my mobile.

Thank you in advance

It's not a huge issue, but it's definitely something I think should be addressed.

I have my wireless network set up with this notebook, and it works great.

Only problem, is that after about 3-4 hours, the wireless seems to just stop working.

It will detect all the connections, and their signal strength, but it will give me the Limited or No Access message, and it takes about 5 minutes to connect. No webpages will load once this happens.

A simple reboot fixes the problem, but it happens again as soon as the 3-4 hours go by.

Has anyone else had this issue? I've already sent feedback on it, but I was just wondering if it was a Windows 7 issue, or if it's just my hardware specifically.

would appreciate some advice, but please keep it plain and simple as I am not that good when things go wrong with computers.

It's fairly hard to explain what happens but basically, say I'm playing some type of online game, all of a sudden anything server sided such as HP amounts, damage amounts, etc. just disappears but the animation runs fine such as attacking being hit, etc. All of a sudden it'll jump forwards and I'll take any damage and do any damage that had been happening until the issue started. This happens constantly and it's really frustrating but on top of that my internet will slow to a crawl..

Say I'm trying to send a message on Skype, it won't send for the longest time and I won't be able to recieve any or even open a new webpage until the problem fixes itself.

I've looked around a bit and thought I fixed the issue, I'm on wifi and multiple devices are connected but not always in use, and the forum I found suggested an ip conflict and said to open up command prompt release the ip with ipconfig /release and then renew it with ipconfig /renew.

For a little bit afterwards, sometimes seconds sometimes the rest of the day, the issue is resolved but eventually it comes around again.
I'm stumped and would appreciate any help what-so-ever. I'm not entirely sure what information I should include in my post, considering I've never visited this forum before, but I'll do my best to provide any information required.

A:Internet becomes very slow or stops working

Was/is there an IP conflict?

Do you get the same problem when connecting by ethernet instead of Wi-Fi?

I was just surfing the web and suddenly my internet stopped working. I was downloading something from megaupload but i don't think that's the problem because i've been downloading from megaupload for the past few days..

I tried restarting my router twice but nothing has happened. I am now using another laptop in the house which uses an internal wireless card to connect to the router and everything is fine. My laptop that has no internet now uses a netgear wireless adapter to connect to the router, but i dont think my adapter is the problem either.

I checked my event viewer and under application there is a warning event ID 1517 NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM something about an application was still using the registry during log off. i researched this and some people recommended downloading UPH cleaner..i downloaded it and ran it, but my internet still does not work. Although, after i ran it, under application, it said

"The following handles in user profile hive .... ......... have been remapped because they were preventing the profile from unloading successfully:

svchost.exe (1024)
HKCU(0x22c)"

I've had no problems shutting down and logging on..i dont know what's going on! please help!

I have two network adapters on this computer. One is a wireless connection and the other is a hardwired one but it is going through a power line adapter. I do not have both enabled at the same time but which ever one I have connected, I run along just fine and then all of a sudden the internet stops and tells me that the page is not available. I then have to disconnect the adapter and reconnected it to continue. I have made the ip's static compare to automatic. I have done so many things ( tips found searching ) that I can't remember them all. Nothing seems to help. This problem just started about a week or two before Christmas. My other computer which is right next to this one has no problems at all.

I think my laptop may be in serious trouble! When I start up my computer, the internet works fine and I can load pages normally. After about 10 minutes, my browser stops being able to load pages and utilities such as Windows live messenger loose their connection. Strangely, it seems that I am still actually connected to the internet, it just seems to loose its ability to receive packets. The web seems to run without problem in Safe Mode. It really isnt consistent. some games only slow down the internet, others completely stop it from working. It only seems to affect my computer as i've tried using other computers on the same internet while i had a game running on my computer and they worked fine. I first got this issue a few months ago when my ISP was centurylink, it lasted for about a month and then just sort of slowly went away. I recently changed ISP's to a local one, but with similar speeds. As soon as I tried running a game while i had the new ISP my internet slowed down a lot.

I've tried posting on a whole bunch of other forums and either got no answers or really stupid ones like "get better internet"

A:The internet stops working on my computer when I run games

Just a bit more details.
specs:
CPU: Intel I5-2320
Ram: 8GB
GPU: r9 280
Operating system: Windows 10

Download speed: at best ~10Mbps usually 7-8
Upload speed: usually ~0.8Mbps

I have a whole lot of games so I don't want to go through and check them all, but here are some of the ones i know i have issues with
Call of duty (most of them)
space engineers
rocket league
Civilization 5
Terraria
Portal 2
CS:GO

these are all the games i've ran while i had this issue and all of them slowed my internet to varying degrees (usually a lot), If you wanted i could go through the rest of my games to see if they all give me this issue.

Hi, I previously had a post on here, but no one posted on it for a while so it was deleted.
My problem is that when I am browsing the internet, after a short time pages will not load or parts of pages like images/videos will not load. If I keep clicking refresh for a while they will eventually load (most of the time).
On the last post they helped me get rid of Nortons and did a few Malware scans, but nothing has changed.
The internet is fine because my msn always works perfectly even when web sites won't load.

Hi there and thanks for having a read of my problem.
On my laptop I will be browsing the internet and then all of a sudden I won't be able to view any new pages. They come up with messages like "Cannot access this website" or something along those lines.
It doesn't matter what browser I am using.
I have recently uninstalled Nortons, but the problem was happening way before this.
After a while though, if I keep clicking refresh or f5 the website will load and then it's like my internet connection never changed until it begins again.
The whole time my email is working and it says I have a connection even though the pages won't load.

I have a fairly clean Vista SP1 install on my desktop. There aren't many applications installed. My internet connection always seems to stop working after web surfing for a while - sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes half an hour. (Doesn't matter whether I'm in IE, Firefox, or Opera) Nothing restores the connection other than a reboot, which I have been doing at least once a day.

All other machines on my network are Win XP, and they all work fine even when this Vista internet connection stops working. Also, file shares to and from the Vista machine work okay even when I can't get out to the internet.

Things I tried:
-Pinged various websites
-ipconfig /release /renew etc....
-rebooted router
-disabled AVG antivirus and ZoneAlarm firewall
-Did a spyware scan with several programs - CLEAN!

Also, I should point out that this machine has been working fine for the year or so that I've had it. These problems have started in the past month or so, although I can't remember anything I did that would have caused any issues.

Any suggestions? Thank you very much! Also, I tried using OpenDNS and am getting the same results if it makes a difference.

So here's my setup:

Computer A is connected directly to a cable modem box via USB. Computer B (which is sometimes a laptop and sometimes a desktop) is connected to Computer A and shares its internet connection via ethernet because I am too cheap to buy a router.

And here's my problem:
A few days ago we borrowed a Belkin wireless router so we could have both desktops, the laptop, and my fiance's iPod Touch access the internet at the same time. That worked fine but once we returned the router and tried to put everything back to normal, it didn't work. The only computer able to access the internet is Computer A (or whichever one is directly connected).
I tried resetting the modem and restarting both machines. I tried disabling all of the connections that showed up from using the router. I tried having windows automatically fix the issue from both machines. Windows states that the IP isn't properly configured or something of that nature. I tried setting it to automatically set the IP bu... Read more
