Windows update error.. System File Checker integrity error..iTunes install error

Q: Windows update error.. System File Checker integrity error..iTunes install error

I'm running Windows 7 Pro on my Dell laptop. This laptop has been in storage and hasn't been turned on in a year. Originally, all I wanted to do was use iTunes. The problem:

It made me update it in order to use it, but I got an error.

I un-installed it and tried downloading a fresh copy and I get the following error:
After some Googling, I read that not having the latest Windows .NET framework might be the problem. Sounded reasonable so I fired up Windows Update but that gave me an error and wouldn't start checking for updates.

I managed to get it to check for updates, but now when it starts the process, I get the following:
I Googled the error code "8007007E" and tried a few things to try and fix it.

I downloaded the windowsupdatediagnostic.diagcab, found on Microsoft's site, here:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates#1TC=windows-7
I tried resetting the Windows Update reset tool, using "MicrosoftFixit50202", found here:http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683
I download the system readiness tool, found here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3132
I tried a clean boot.

I tried renaming the Windows Update Softwaredistribution folder.

None of this worked.

I ran the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) and the results said I had bad files, but I don't know how to fix them. It generated a CBS log, which is too large for me to post (10MB) , so I've uploaded to dropbox, here:https://www.dropbox.com/s/upin8te29z8lcx4/CBS.log?dl=0
And a sfcdetails log, which from what I understand, is a easier-to-read version of the CBS log, which I've attached in the following post.
It was also recommended that I run SFCfix from here:http://www.sysnative.com/niemiro/apps/SFCFix.exe
At some point it asked me to insert the windows DVD if I had it, which I didn't. I'm trying to fix this laptop for a relative of mine and I don't think they have their original CDs. I've attached the SFClog here:

I appreciate any help you can offer. All of this is just to fix iTunes, and I don't even know if any of this will even fix the iTunes problem to begin with! But I'd still like to try. Thank you for your help

Hello!  I haven't used my desktop in forever (about 4yrs) and finally decided to hook it up to my tv.  After a little bit of funds and assistance, I finally got it working.

Anyhoo...at one time I had itunes downloaded.  Now I can't find it in Programs.  I can find a couple of files titled "itunes music" and  "itunes music library" in one of the users on this comp but when trying to open these files I receive these errors:
"itunes music" - "Application has failed to start because it's side by side configuration is incorrect.  Please see the application event log for more detail"
"itunes music library - Opens up in a new window of html log.

I researched and found to uninstall and then reinstall itunes and Quicktime.  I can't find itunes in Programs.  I tried to download itunes and receive this error "Could not access network location %APPDATA%."  I researched this error and found to download update to Windows Vista then download itunes and Quicktime afterwards.  I tried to download and received this error "Installer encountered and error 0x80070424 The specified service does not exist as an installed device."

Can I find these drivers somewhere or what should my next steps be?

fyi-I don't have the cds that came with computer but I might be able to borrow one if needed.

winxp tab ed sp 3 on thinkpad X41I got these Event Viewer messages when I ran system file checker. The system file c:\windows\ime\imjp8_1\imjprw.exe & c:\windows\ime\imkr6_1\applets\hwxkor.dll could not be copied into the DLL cache. The specific error code is 0x000003e3 [The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.]. This file is necessary to maintain system stability.Following the more info link got me the "no more info available" message. There are no files in the above folders w/ hide protected os files unchecked but there are copies in Windows\lastgood\system32\dllcache and windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\lang [imjprw.exe] as well as Windows\system32\dllcache.I ran SFC because the onscreen keyboard won't open once windows loads. The one that appears when you CTRL+ALT+DEL so you can "type" in your password loads and works, but when I click on the icon in the quicklaunch area I get an error message that tabtip.exe has crashed that mentions faulting modules ntdll.dll & kernel32.dll. I've had a lot of problems w/ dll's going bad and SFC solved some of them, which is why I tried running it.Should I copy the imjprw.exe & hwxkor.dll files from LastGood or ServicePackFiles to the folders mentioned in the SFC Event Viewer messages and run SFC again? Does SFC actually check the files in the dllcache and only ... Read more

A:System File Checker error message

I've been reading more on SFC and it copies the files from c:\windows\system32\dllcache to c:\windows\system32. A search showed that the files are in dllcache but not in system32, so the problem must be in the "thread exit or application request" which I don't know what to do about.Google search showed hwxkor.dll to be Microsoft Korean Handwriting Recognizer, which I don't need. imjprw.exe is also a MIME file to do w/ entering complex characters and symbols. I think it's for Japanese, which I'm also not using.I'm thinking the SFC error message was an error. I don't think I need either file for system stability.I have set my text services via Regional & Language Options in Control Panel so I can toggle between English and Russian keyboard as I'm trying to learn Russian. That's been working ok except the Russian umlaut e comes out as just a dot. I'm guessing that function involves a MIME file, but not either of the files IDed by SFC.Another winxp day, another 20 questions.

Hi,
I have been having some recurring problems with the attempts to install some automatic windows updates.

Security Update for Microsoft Office Acess 2007
Security Update for Microsoft Office Outlook Junk Email Filter

I am not able to install these updates, maybe any other updates in general. After attempting the install the following install window says, "Windows Update encountered an unknown error." Next to it an error code 80070643. Microsoft provides a solution to the problem, by re-installing Microsoft NET. Framework. They also provide a link to the program NET. Framework cleanup tool that enables you to uninstall NET. Framework, and it's components.

I followed Microsoft's instructions to solve the issue, though I've been put at a standstill. I have used the NET. Framework Cleanup tool to uninstall NET. Framework and it's components (states that it uninstalls all versions, 1.1 SP1 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5.) Then afterwards instructed to reinstall NET. Framework, specifically in an order, 3.5 then, 1.1, then 1.1 SP1. I start with 3.5, then as the installation starts it says that to contiunue installation I must turn off or on windows features in the Control Panel. I do so and turn off all Windows features. Then continue and it again states to turn off features in the Control Panel.

I wasn't able to continue the process, and I am also concerned that this is the same error that made me unable to install Microsoft Security Essentials, (as t... Read more

I have a Sitefinity 7.0 project I am developing that has been working fine until a few weeks ago. After a round of Windows updates I would get a 500 error everytime I tried to access the Dashboard or any other backend page. The login worked, but the desired
page always failed, whether running in VS2013 or published and run from IIS 7. The production site hosted on WS2008R2 remained trouble free, but the issues affects development on my Windows 8.1 box.

I confirmed the error was caused by Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 on Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 x64-based Systems (KB3098779). Removing the update resolved the issue. Once a week, every week since, the update is
reinstalled automatically without me being able to stop it. The error reappears every time this update is automatically reinstalled.

A:Windows update error 80070002 and System restore error (Both)

I was getting that same error - and saying "cannot search for updates".

I tried the Fixit tool and command prompts - suggested by Microsoft - nothing worked.

I finally called Microsoft - 1 - 800 - Microsoft and they did a remote on my comp and the problem is solved, at least for now.

There is no charge for this service.

As for System Restore, make sure you have set a Restore Point.
Go to Start and type system restore.
Go to " Create a restore point".

See if your C drive says "on" and if not click Configure.

The problem started when I had three updates that would not install at shutdown. I tried to run check disk and system file checker which neither would run initially. Check disk runs now and says there are no problems. SFC says "Window Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation." As for Windows update, I have tried deleting the temp update files located at C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore and C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. I have also tried to Resource readiness tool as well as Microsoft Fix It for windows update. The fix it tool says it finds errors and fixes them but the problem is not fixed. It shows up every time I run the tool. Since deleting the temp files, windows update just says "Windows could not search for new updates" with and error code of 80070002.

I suspected a virus at first but was unable to find anything with a full scan of AVG and Malware Bytes. Guess that doesn't mean there is not one. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have tried about every thing I can find for help.

A:Windows update and system file checker will not run

80070002 is a File Not Found error. It suggests (to me) a corruption of the downloads. Give this a try (you must be using an adminstrator account for this):- Go to Start and type "cmd" (without the quotes)- at the top of the Search box will be an entry for CMD.EXE - right click on it and select "Run as administrator"- In the black window that appears, type "net stop wuauserv" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Wait until the screen tells you that it's completed successfully. Leave this window open as you'll need it later. If it prompts to stop other services, tell it Yes.- Open up Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. Delete the contents of the folder (but not the folder itself).- Go back to the black window and type "net start wuauserv" (without the quotes) and press Enter.- Reboot and see if Windows Update works now. Let us know what happens.

So I got an iPod nano as a gift and seems simple enough to set up by going to the iTunes site and downloading iTunes/Quicktime. As it is installing, I get an error message:

"Could not open key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.cdda\OpenWithProgIds. Verify that you
have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."
Fine, no problem. So I then spend the next 2.5 hours on the phone with someone from Dell who, despite her best efforts and help from two "specialists", was unable to help me. I have erased every trace of iTunes/Quicktime and tried to download it again but I still receive the same message. I don't know a whole lot about computers except the basics and that I'm not supposed to mess around with the registry editor, which is where the key is located.

Please help me. Thank you in advance. If there is no easy way, I'll take the gift receipt and get a Zune.

1. iTunes

2. QuickTime

3. Apple Software Update

I recently re-installed windows and am now trying to install the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010). All goes well, it installs everything, but as it finished I get this error:
I have tried redownloading, using other installers and updating my graphics drivers. Nothing will work. It's probably worth mentioning that the first time I tried installing, about a week ago, my computer totally froze in the middle of the install and I had to force restart.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

A:DirectX install error - An internal system error occurred.

Welcome to Seven Forums callumshell1. The 1st thing I would suggest would be to run the System Files Checker.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

See if it finds and corrects any errors. Also, see if you locate the 2 dx logs mentioned, in the windows directory, and post them here, or just the text if they are short, which they may well be.

Hi all,

Huge problem regarding permissions on my (massively unstable) PC. I try to run ANYTHING including .dlls with admin permissions and i get a nice little "ding", and error message regarding the relevent .dll and File system error -1073741792, including one just before I get to the logon screen (think it was called "WINMM.dll", which yes, is "microsoft mouse", but my mouse still appears to be working sooooo... confused... lol).

Also, when i try to system restore, I get an unspecified error, code (0x8000ffff). I don't get anymore info, it just apparently can't do it.

All this came about when i started my PC up after changing/installing NOTHING (since it last worked perfectly), and it randomly said the disk integrity of C: (64GB kingston SSD running the OS but no installed programs) had to be checked, before several black screens of text whizzed by, deleting and then repairing registry entries. It has done this once before, (completely different symptoms, but same root cause of this windows integrity checker thingy), but i fixed it by transferring my account files to a new account, deleting the old one, and presto, instant new admin profile with full permissions again, but problem is, what with nothing that requires admin status working, I can't create a new account this time.

I have had my Dell 8700 for little over a year and have had problems from the beginning.  I am 72 years old, and I am at my wits end!!!

A hard drive was replaced in the summer of 2015, but I have still had problems with the computer shutting down and my having to refresh it to factory setting.

I thought updating to Windows 10 would solve some problems, and I did this in October, 2015.  Everything was fine until a couple of months ago.  The end result was when I tried to refresh the computer to factory defaults, it went back to 8.0 or 8.1, and I evidently lost something in the process.
Now, I cannot update to Windows 10 and when I tried to resinstall the Dell Operating System, I get for both:  "WE COULDN'T UPDATE THE SYSTEM RESERVED PARTITION."
I DO HAVE A SYSTEM BACKUP ON 20 CDS (MADE WHEN I HAD WINDOWS 10).  Could I reinstall the system with these backupdisks?  How do I do that?  I also have a Dell 2 Boot USP stick, I have a recovery stick, too, but it semed that when I used this, I received a message that not all files were recovered
What should I do at this point?

A:Error message when trying to update to Windows 10 or to reinstall operating system 8.1: We couldn't update the system reserved partition."

On MBR disk, Windows 10 requires a 500MB system reserved partition, while 100MB in Windows 7, so you can try to extend system reserved partition.
In disk management, you can only extend partition using the unallocated space next to its right side. so even if you shrink D: drive, the option to extend the efi partition is still grayed out. My suggestion is to use a third party software, AOMEI Partition Assistant, both the standard (free) or the Professional(paid) version can extend partition as long as there is unallocated space on that hard drive. to see more information read:

Hello,

I have recently tried to reset factory settings on my laptop and think i accidentally wiped the whole hardrive. When I turn it on it just says please insert media. I figured i just needed to install windows, so i downloaded it and put it on a flash USB to install. Now when I done this it stalls and brings me to an error saying 'Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart, we'll restart it for you.' 'If you'd like to know more you can search 'NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM'

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

A:Satellite C50-A-1CK - how to install Win10 - NTFS file system error

Oh dear, nothing worse than getting error messages that you don't understand is there.

OK, your Hard Drive contents are probably still intact unless you re-formatted the drive, and that would be hard to do accidentally as you get a warning that you are about to erase it's contents.

Did you get any Media when you bought the laptop, ie a CD ? If so you can use that and do a 'Repair' on your system.

If not, have a look here for some info on installing from a flash drive. https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/soft...load/windows10

I've just done this exercise except I installed clean copy (no annoying unwanted software programs, AKA 'Bloatware') of W10 Home onto a new SSD.

Good luck

We went from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, months ago (when we kept getting the pop-up to get the "free" upgrade").Yesterday, while Windows was updating, it would not return to the home screen, but instead, kept cycling on and off with the same window coming on: Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We'll restart for you. Stop Code: FAT FILE SYSTEM...Can't get past it,  other than to the Bios. Made a Windows 10 USB Flash Drive to try to repair.  changed the boot order to accomodate, but once it starts to install, the cycle immediately starts again. Can't find ANYTHING on the internet to help.  The drive seems to work, since I had to take it out and use an SATA/IDE to USB cord to pull data off it, so I was able to see the drive on another computer.Need help as to what to do and how to get past it.  Whatever you suggest, I can bet I tried it.  Just want to format the drive using the Windows 10 USB and get rid of everything to start anew, but it won't get past that window. This is my daughter's computer and she really needs it.  If anyone can help with this, please help. Thanks!

We couldn't install Windows 10
0xC1900101 - 0x40017
We've set you PC back to where it was right before you started installing Windows 10
The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation
What was tried: Connected straight to ethernet, Turned off wireless and Defender A/V, Removing the D/L files, D/L fresh from ISO file, launched install file, went through approx 50% and PC rebooted - nor stuck on black screen with swirling dots for OVER 4 hours with a brief HD access every couple of seconds.
Rebooted again -- still swirling dots on black screen. Tried again, same results.
Rebooted with F8 to get original Win 10 back.
Turned on "metered connection" option for WLAN to stop this update from happening. But now I cannot get and security updates for this machine.
Please suspend this D/L until fixed. Cannot afford to have no protection!

Hey all,

So I am currently reinstalling Windows on my dad's old laptop after the hard drive decided up die on us, and I stumbled on a problem that's a bit too hard for me to fix.

Namely, I am completely unable to install any Windows Update. Not even MSE will install.

I tried running SURT, but got error code 0x8000247
I also tried running SFC /SCANNOW, it ran the verification fase until 98% and then stated that there where unfixable problems.

The displayed error codes are:
In WU: "8024A000"
In SURT: "0x8000247"
Whilst installing MSE: "0x80070643".

Attached you will find CBS.log and MSINFO with my system specs.
Cheers and many thanks in advance,

I have been getting error 0x8007001f whenever I attempted to install the windows 10 anniversary update. I went through most post suggestions for fixing this error. What I found I have not seen posted before.
I have one of those Dells (XPS 8900) similar to Alienware which has the system on a SSD and a second conventional HHD for data.
This configuration, if unchanged, still places user data (such as Documents) on the smaller SSD. In order to have all user data put on the larger HHD I defined a soft symbolic link from the SSD to the HHD for the Users directory. This worked great until my computer attempted to install the anniversary update of windows 10. I kept getting the 0x800701f error no matter what I tried. That is, until I restored the original Users directory on the SSD. After that the update went through just fine.
After the update I relinked the Users directory and everything came up as before but with the windows update installed.
If you have linked the users directory as I did just unlink (see below) and the update should go through.
Notes:
The mklink command is used to define the symbolic link. It should be run from an administrator command prompt.
(mklink /d Users D:\Users)
Rename the original Users directory on C: before defining the link. If you did not then you will have to copy the Users directory from D: to C: after deleting the link, then delete and relink after the windows update.
To delete the link just do an "rmdir Users" from administrat... Read more

Hi All

Some of our client machine(Windows7) is not taking update from WSUS server. When we verified the WindowsUpdate logs, we could see that WU client version is changed to 7.6.7600.256 from 7.5.7601.17514.Our WSUS server is running with version WSUS 3.0 SP1 on windows 2003 server. So we suspect this may be the reason windows 7 machines is getting the error message 'Windows Update Client failed to detect with error 0x800b0001' when it try to get the update from WSUS server.

So please suggest any steps to change the WU client version on windows 7 back to 7.5.7601.17514

Hi, about two months ago my computer started doing some weird stuff where multiple programs didn't work.

Some programs, such as notepad, give an error of C:\Windows\systems32\WINSPOOL.DRV is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. I have no idea what is causing this, and found out when looking at its permissions, all were switched to a TrustedInstaller, while I had only read/execute perms.

Also, when I tried to restore my computer to an earlier version, all of my restore points were gone. When I tried to backup my files, an error came up stating, "Server execution failed (0x80080005)".

Lastly, I am unable to set my computer to update windows. When I go to the action center and click Install Updates Automatically, the window closes and nothing changes.

My current OS is Windows 7 (which was upgraded from Windows Vista), and it is an HP laptop. Also, any automatic updates HP software usually installs, doesn't seem to be working.

I have no idea why all of this is happening, and I greatly appreciate any help.

Hiya, this problem started when I encountered "generic host process for win32 services has encountered a problem and needs to close". I figured I could have a virus or something, so I rebooted to run some scans in safe mode. Problem is, when I attempted to go into safe mode, it flashed the blue screen and reset.
Also this happens when I try and disable auto reset on BSOD ( so I just don't change it)
"-System control panel applet- if the page file on volume C: has an initial size of less then 0 megabytes, then the system may not be able to create a debugging information file if a STOP error occurs. Continue anyways?"

After the reset, I was given 2 options I haven't seen before:
"Windows XP professional" -> everything starts normally
and
"Windows (default)" -> gives me a "hal.dll is corrupted" error

I did my scans on normal windows (since safemode is giving me BSOD) and I didn't find any viruses/mal/spyware.
I used these for scanning: Microsoft security essentials, malwarebytes, and spybot.

After some google searches, I tried to update windows via ***www.\/\/indowsupdate.com but recieved an error message like I didn't have the internet. I read somewhere to add it to the "trusted websites" and I did, but didn't change anything.
Also from the searches, I was redirected a few times, so I think I have the google redirect virus.

A:Get error when I try to install iTunes

Blockie do you have any Apple apps or services installed now in Control Panel>Programs and Features? I'd uninstall them all first to see if it will install.

First be sure to disable any Apple in msconfig>Startup or msconfig>Services (after hiding all MS Services). That alone might allow install.

Next I re-download the installer to see if it's corrupted.

I only scratched the surface of the google results for the error message so you might want to go more in depth to avoid a possible reinstall since that is what some had to do. Sometimes a thorny issue like this will take hours or methodical research making sure not to miss a single result.

If you do reinstall be sure to stick with the methods and tools given in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to avoid corruption like this.

Quick summary, the installation of Norton SystemWorks froze on my comp when i was instaling it, so i cancelled it and pretty much forgot about it. When i rebooted a few days later Windows wouldnt load.

I did some reading (correct me if i'm wrong) and i found out it was becasue of Norton GoBack ( i didnt even want it on my system in teh first place). It alters your boot files and i'm guessing when it froze it was in the prosses of changing those files.

So far i've tried everthing I could and had no luck fixing it.
I tried the NOrton fix (A file that unInstalles go back from dos) but it didnt work since the installation was not complete in the first place.

I tried plugging it onto another system as a Slave but it doesnt even show up : /

Heres the big problem i ran into;
I cant seem to get in teh partitions on my HD ( View or enter, there were 4 of them on this HD).Is there any proggy you guys would recomend to get into NSFT partitions from dos?

I wanted to copy that file back into the dir but i cant seem to get into drive C:

We are in the process of upgrading our server and I upgraded a workstation from XP home to XP Pro. Before the upgrade, this workstation was having strange problems - installed Ad-Aware & Spyware Doctor, everything okay. Looks like a previous install of Norton was corrupted because there were two (Norton Antivirus 2003 & 2005) installs and neither one was functioning. The error when trying to install updates, or Norton for that matter, is Error 1327. Invalid Drive: H:\. I followed the directions from Symantec to fix that, then I got Error 1324. The folder path 'My Pictures' contains an invalid character. I figured that after I fixed this error that I would get another and another for each path, so I went back and renamed the cd-rom to D, like it was before. I continued to research and it looks like I have a .net framework problem but nothing seems to work to fix it! Should I just wipe hard drive and reinstall everything? Problem is, I can't do it during work hours as the guy needs his computer...oh well! The only update I am having trouble installing is .net framework 1.1 sp1 and it tells me that the upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer because the program to be upgraded may be missing or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program - errors 0x66A and 0x663. Any ideas anyone? I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks

Eventually, I found out some weeks later that the original update download had "zero" info; there was no .Net update downloaded on my computer but this particular folder must have been within my computer registry and therefore, Microsoft Window Updates kept on detecting an empty folder - causing this Installation failure.

WOA - I wouldn't go so far as to wipe your drive and/or do reinstallation ( the whole 9 yards) since there are so many of us sharing the same problem. Relevantly, I am starting to conclude that these .Net Update are "NOT" from this side but the other --The Microsoft .Net Framwork 1.1 updates itself. Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any help you may provide in this matter. I have a customer that is using Win 7 Pro x64. We are not able to get IE10 to install. At first she stated she was getting the 9c59 error. I however, have not seen this. I went onsite today and tried to install the update. I ran the Windows update diagnostic which found a fixed a few items. Afterwards I made sure to remove any toolbars or unneeded software from programs and features. I also went and downloaded all of the prerequisite updates for IE10.

IE10 appears to install and goes through the process. At the end it just says it failed and does not give me any error code.

The system is running Symantec endpoint protection which I disabled during the install. I did run SFC and no errors were found.

Attached is the CBS log and CheckSUR log.

I will not be onsite with this issue but I am setting up remote access and will be able to remote in to try fixes.

A:IE 10 update error. Cannont install on Windows 7 x64

The CheckSUR result appears to be incomplete - there's not summary at the end.
Please check that you didn't upload a partial report.

If that's all you have on your machine, please run another CheckSUR and see if that completes properly.

Hi guys. I'm usually one to find my solutions in forums and never actually post, but this time I'm sort of stuck. Between Microsoft not giving me a lot of info to go on and the wide range of "possibilities" here, I'm not sure what to do.

Here's what's up. I was running Windows 8 Pro x64 with my OS installed on a 128gb SSD and my user files located on a separate hard drive. This was done after a good amount of research and by following a step by step tutorial. It worked/works fine in this configuration and I've never had a problem.

As everyone in my position found out, 8.1 requires the user files to exist on the same drive as the OS, effectively making my configuration impossible to update to 8.1. I figured I'd just wait it out and see if someone found a workaround and, lo and behold, people have. I used the one explained here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-windows_install/sorry-it-looks-like-this-pc-cant-run-windows-81/16800fc9-700b-42d0-a210-d07630698ed6

I have this error message when I turn on my computer.

The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

When I click "OK" on the window another window pop up and says:

Hello. I've been trying to fix the album art in iTunes, and when I import a new cover iTunes adds it to the track information, and then promptly restarts and gives the Serious System Error popup. The error signature it gives is:

I've also attached the minidump file if that helps.

Has anyone seen this happen before? Or does my computer just hate me? Hopefully someone can make sense of this. Thanks!

Hi -
I'm not getting Windows Update to run. HP p6240f, Windows 7, 64-bit OS
When I go to shutdown, the shutdown button has an orange shield that indicates it wants to update.
If I go to Windows Update and and say "Check for Updates", it tells me to Install new Windows Update software. I press Install Now and get "windows could not search for new updates. Error found Code 8024DFFE Windows Update encountered an unknown error". When I press "Get Help with this error", I select Windows Update Troubleshooter, which opens a Diagnostics Troubleshooting Wizard, which opens "Window Update, find and fix problems with Windows Update", which runs a repeating cycle of Detecting problems, collecting files, checking registry, Resolving problems .... over and over until it finishes eventually saying that it was not able to fix all the problems. In particular is a new "Windows Update error 0x80070490(2014-08-29-T-09_02_42P)". I attach the picture. I've done this a bunch of times, including rebooting to see if that matters.

This happened a week ago and the same thing happened as in the preceding paragraph, except that afterward - even though it gave all the same error codes - the Windows Update successfully ran.

I found a suggestion on a MS Windows site to run (in an administrator's Dos window) sfc /SCANNOW, which takes a long time to run and I did so and it found nothing and still the problem exists.

Hello, I am attempting to install a Windows Update for Service Pack 1, and cannot do so. I'm running Windows Ultimate x64 bit, and need the Service Pack to run a couple programs I cannot run without it - namely Dolphinx64 netplay.

That being beside the point, I have attempted to run the ISO file downloaded from the Microsoft website and have attempted using the online Windows Update in my system. I also tried manually upgrading my Windows 7 using a x64 Windows 7 ISO install file and selecting "upgrade", but it didn't let me because I "can't upgrade a 64-bit system to a 32-bit system" and "can't upgrade a 32-bit system to a 64-bit system". I got both of these errors at the same time - so that's a dunce.

I also used the System Update Readiness Tool found at :

Fix Windows corruption errors by using the DISM or System Update Readiness tool

and it didn't work either.

As stated in the title, the error code is 80070490. Attached is the CBS zip file asked for in the instructions for posting. I couldn't copy the CBS.log file -- and all the times I attempted to take ownership didn't work. If required, I will try again to get it. For the time being, I used an elevated command prompt to open the CBS log via notepad with a notepad command, and copied all contents into a notepad and included that with my .rar.

I also ran sfc /scannow before uploading this all, so that has been done as well.

Any help is much appreciated, and thank you in advance!

Then, ran the Windows Update Diagnostic.diagcab from go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=231149 and it shows Windows Update error 0x8007370B(2014-09-18-T-06_58_30P) as NOT FIXED. All other items in list shows as FIXED.

Windows 8, "File: \BCD Error Code: 0xc0000034"

Good Day Everyone,

Trying to resolve this error:

I have a Window 8 recovery USB and a Windows 8.1 recovery USB both from another laptop...

Mine are 32 bit machines, if the laptop i am working on is 64 bit will it boot on my USB recovery that is from a 32 bit machine? My buddy doesn't know if this troubled laptop is 32 or 64 bit

When I use the recovery usb and try a refresh or a comlete format it comes back telling me the drive is locked and stops in its tracks.

Also from a the dos command window (from the recover usb advanced option section) i have tried the following with NO success...

Bootrec /fixmbr - successful but didn't help
Bootrec Fixboot - successful but didn't help
Bootrec - RebuildBCD - Goes off searching, comes back with 1> C:windows, I type Y to add it but it comes back with an error "The requested system device can not be found"

I also tried BCDboot c:\windows\ /s c: /l en-us - said it was successful but still didnt fix the boot problem.

So i am not sure if I am running into a 32 bit vs 64 bit issue or if i need to find a way to unlock my drive so the refresh will work?? Or...?????

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!!

This is on an Acer Aspire V3-551

Darren Vaillant

So my laptop has a bunch of problems. It started out as a virus infection then I found out more problems.

First of all, thank you to Broni for directing me to the thread that tells me to run DSS.

I can't run a systems restore. I get the 0x800700B7 error. As well, Systems Restore says that I've never had a Systems Restore done before, which I think is odd, because I recall seeing Systems Restores created last time I checked (maybe a year ago?)

I also can't turn on Windows Firewall. I get the "Windows can't start the Mpssvc" message.

Hi,

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on my laptop. For last few days I have not been able to install windows updates. I get the error with code 80070641.

After wandering through different forums and suggested solutions, I followed this path - control panel > system and maintenance > administrative tools > services > windows installer (double clicked and saw that the start-up type is 'Automatic'). When I clicked on the 'Start the service' button in the left panel here, I got the following message:

Windows could not start the windows installer service on local computer.
Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified.

Can anybody help me resolve this problem and bring my Windows Installer back on the track?

By the way, later, I did this -

Click Start, Run and type: cmd /k sc qc msiserver
Press ENTER.

Following is the ouyput I received -

[SC] QueryServiceConfig SUCCESS

After a hard drive crash and system restore I'm getting error below after a brief update progress bar.

I've run the Update Repair tools many times, Manually stopped and started services. MERGED default version of BITs and Windows Update services.
Also ran Defender offline, use McAfee, System Mechanic and RegCurePro to keep system cleaned and tuned. I've fallen behind on updates and need to get this resolved. I've also moved on and can't go back to that restore point to retry. Looking for suggestions

A:Windows Update Error after restoring system

Hello Swawindsail and welcome to the forums

Firstly, I would like you to restore any changes made by System Mechanic and RegCurePro. Registry cleaners/optimisers in general are complete junk and should be avoided at great lengths. It's very hard for them to distinguish what should be removed and what should stay and more often than not, they will delete things they shouldn't. If you would like to see the sort of damage that they can do to Windows (especially Windows Update) then take a look here:

Microsoft Updates has gone crazy

It completely killed it. So restoring the changes made by these programs may in fact solve your problem. If it doesn't, follow these instructions:

Hi

I have three problems occuring, two when i turn the pc on:-

this error message comes up, c:\windows\system32\jtkjqrqadkksrss.exe (says in the box cant find). i click ok, then another box comes up saying ! could not load the above. I click ok on this and the same 1st message comes up again.
Then directly after those 4 error messages this error message appears "Updater.exe" comes up in a box and says it cant find this either.

I run the following:

windows xp home edition version 2002 + service pack 2
cpu AMD Sempron, 1600 MHz (8 x 200) 2800+
SIS 760, AMD Hammer (chipset
MB ID is SIS-760-6A717FKAC-00 (unknown name)
192 RAM
DVD/CD-ROM Drives
SIS Mirage Graphics

My third problem is I installed Galactic Battlegrounds Game, when I had mypc partioned half for my son and other half for me, and when i deleted the partition, it removed the game but i cant seem to re-install the game again, ive tried taking the last bit of the game program off but it wont allow me too. Any suggestions as my son loves the game and cant play it now.

How can i correct these error or clear them. Not really computer literate so dont know where to begin. Hope ive given you all the information you need.

Many Thanks Paula

Folks:

I tried everything I could find on SevenForums and beyond. This one KB will just not stick.

I downloaded it separately, too: "Windows6.1-KB3101722-x64.msu". The installation process, whether stand-alone (WUSA) or within the Windows Update app, proceeds without any errors. I am then prompted to restart the PC. After the restart, if I go to the Windows Update app -> View update history, I find that the KB3101722 has a failed status. The error code is 0x80071a2d.

Checking the event viewer logs for WUSA reports the same thing: "Package KB3101722 failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x80071a2d".

I ran the SURT tool as instructed in the "Windows Update Posting Instructions" and saved the CBS folder. The folder is rather large, containing many cab files. Here is a link to my OneDrive where I uploaded it.

https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resi...int=file%2czip

I have no idea how to proceed from here. I don't like the idea of not having KB3101722 installed. This is supposedly, an important update.

Thanks for any idea you have.

Marius

Hello,
I'm hoping some one here can help. I have tried everything.

I'm trying to install "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based systems (KB2879017)".

Windows Update throws error code 0x800700D.

So I run Microsoft System Update Readiness Tool (SUR) and I find the following message in the CheckSUR.log file:

Windows update has tried numerous times to install it numerous times since the first attempt back in October, 2010 and it always failed with the error 80070020.

Ok, I figured out which Microsoft service was needed so that I could run the KB982799 update file that I downloaded without getting the "The update does not apply to your system" message but I still got the 80070020 error message. The service that was needed was the "Windows Modules Installer" service. I basically started windows with no startup items and only a few services needed and I still got the 80070020 error. Here is a list of the services that were started.

Windows Modules Installer
Windows Update

This is the bare minimum of services needed to even start the install process but it still failed with error 80070020. Does anybody have any ideas?

Dear Sevenforums,

I just installed a new HDD by WD into a HP DV7T (2008), everything has been going well up until I tried to Update Windows. I did not retain anything from the previous installation as the previous hard drive up and quit on me!

I activated windows and had it confirmed as genuine.

I followed the instructions posted on another page and tried to install SURT and got an error: 0xc8000247.

I was hoping for some suggestions, Direct X , Java, MSE and Mechwarrior Online wouldn't install.

Perhaps a driver issue?

Have a great day all!

It's failing Lenovo driver validation.   You can follow the directions in this thread if wish to update to a later driver than the Lenovo published driver.

So I had to do a System Repair thing where Windows would repair itself and removing all my apps but keep my documents, photos and music etc. So I was reinstalling every program again and also wanted to install the updates.
But I ran into 0x800f0922 error code and I couldnt install them. (I run Windows 8.1 Pro) I was trying to install Adobe Photoshop but couldnt continue cuz .NET framework 3.5 was required. But after trying to manually download + install I got the same error (0x800f0922). I've tried almost every cmd command but couldnt fix it. (im a kinda noob on it anyways)
Any help would be appreciated!

P.S. I just reinstalled Windows and tried installing the updates again, but same thing. I cannot install any update at all.

If you want, you can add me on Skype: septurae

A:Windows 8 fails to install EVERY update, error 0x800f0922

have you tried to run
Code:
chkdsk c: /f /r /x

? I had Windows Updates failing recently and ran chkdsk by booting from the Installation disk (so that the OS was not running and the HD could be unmounted). It found bad sectors and fixed them and the updates installed perfectly fine after that.

Hi
Getting 800F0246 when using windows update (most of the updates are drivers)
Also getting error when trying to install any new hardware i.e. amazon kindle fire
Even if I install drivers manually through device manager I get "windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device - one of the installers for this device cannot perform the installation at this time."

Have also tried running sfc /scannow - but get error "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation." almost straight away

Any ideas please?
Machine is running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, Intel Core i5, 8gb RAM

When I attempted to install IE10 from Windows Update, the update failed with Error 9C57.

There was also a prior failure (also this morning) to install an optional update, Platform Update for Windows 7 x64 edition (KB2670838).

Finally, while this may be entirely unrelated, I noticed earlier this week that the "Turn Window Features On and Off" function under Programs and Features of the Control Panel is missing quite a few items that I know used to be there. For example, there's no longer a Telnet or FTP option. The list is only about 6 or 7 items long. I mention this in case it's useful for troubleshooting.

I'm attaching CBS.zip, screen caps of the two failed Windows updates, and a screen cap of the Windows Feature showing the very few items in it.

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

There are some very rare errors present in both CheckSUR and CBS logs - they'll take some researching.

Hello, I've been have several issues with my laptop ever since I swapped over my faulty C drive by Ghosting it onto another HDD. My troubleshooters all fail to run when I try to start them and Windows Update will not work despite the fact that I've checked and re-checked that the service is running. I've run sfc twice now with reboots in between and I've tried to repair install windows 7 using the tutorial provided by this forum, but I keep running into errors while trying to fix the problem.

I do not want to run a clean install unless I absolutely have to, but repairing it doesn't seem to work. I have the CBS log and the error codes from the troubleshooters if you need them.

A:Windows 7 repair install failed; error when trying to run Update

Start by running a couple of Startup Repairs to make sure the boot files are in order.

Post back a screenshot of Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image - Windows 7 Help Forums.

Did the clone hold activation after cloning? Check at Computer>Properties activation link.

If these are okay, then let's move to addressing the UPdates. Try each of these tutorials:
reset Windows Update components
System Update Readiness Tool fixes Windows Update errors in Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2008

Report back the results of each of these steps.

Is this the original Asus factory preinstall with the bloatware and duplicate utilities that have better versions built into Win7? If so this is a corrupt install to begin with that smothers Win7 native performance. So I'd stronglly consider doing the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 as you'd go from one of the worst possible installs to one of the best. Once you've done it you can preserve a backup image so you never have to do it again.

Hello

I am struggling to make my windows update run properly.
There are 3 important updates that I cant make it work, they are:
1- 2 of them concerning .NET framework 4 (KB2742595 and KB2789642)
2- Service Pack 1 (KB976932)

For the .NET framework 4 updates: windows actually do update them and says they are sucessfully updated, but when I check for updates again, they are still there. The SP1 is a little different, it does install normally, but when PC logs off to continue installation, it never goes through 14%. Then it restarts, says failure and it rolls back, aborting the update, so when I check windows updates again, if shows SP1 failure, error 0x80071a90.
I've tried many different things, like manual update, safe mode or clean startup config, none work.
Also, I downloaded SURT and installed it, but it seems nothing really happened.
Following Windows Update Posting Instructions
1- installed SURT, but seems nothing happened
2- SFC scan is normal; error-checking tool is also ok.
3- No errors appear on that screen. I will only find the error code for SP1 if I click on "View update history"
4- CBS.zip attached

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

EDIT = couldn't attach zip file because it's size is 20mb.

A:Windows Update - won't install SP1 and other updates- error 0x80071a90

I just found out that when I open 'msconfig' , there are many services stopped, including many microsoft ones. If I try to enable then and restart my PC, simply nothing happens, they keep stopped.

I tryed to manually start them through 'services.msc', some of them start to work, like 'Vaio Event Service' which enables my Fn key, but when I restart, every alteration made is undone ( I quickly notice this when I try to use Fn key in attempt to raise/lower the volume, after I restart).

I thought of virus/malware could possibly doing so, so I ran MSE,adwcleaner, spybot but the errors remain. Any suggestions please?

Windows Update installation of Win7 SP1 (updating existing version of 6.1.7600.16385) reports the install as successful until reboot, then says successful and unsuccessful in the same dialog box. Error ID is 80242016. Subsequent run of windows update shows SP1 not installed. Problem repeats, even after following all steps in troubleshooting, including running the recommended hot fix for KB 947821, troubleshooting, & turning off anti-virus. Also, the windows update troubleshooter identifies my system as AMD64 architecture even though it is Intel I7 2600K. System infomation id's the CPU correctly. Any suggestions? I have a file in a folder called bla.exe

I copy a newer version to the folder

windows 7 asks me if I want to copy and replace the file

I say yes

Windows 7 says "error file is open in another program"

WHAT THE HECK IS THAT!!!
(it is in no way shape or form open in any program except for explorer!)

There is some kind of delayed file protection inside windows 7 that is not in windows XP nor vista.

in XP or vista you can copy and replace files with no problems.

I have searched and found several possible fixes that dont fix the problem:
1.) I set the advanced owner permisions to my whole C: drive to have the owner as Administrator instead of trusted installer

2.) UAC is off and I have set all basic permissions to full control on admin and on everyone

problem #2

In windows XP I edit a batch file and I click save to save its new contents.

In windows 7 I save the edited batch file and it says it is in use and I end up having to save it as a different name or different location!

A:Windows 7 file in use error and batch save error

I read your question several times to make sure I am following you correctly.

What I am perceiving from what you are describing is that you are attempting to put two files of the same name in the same folder at the same time. Is this correct?

Normally it will create or allow the file to be in the same folder but will add a 2 to the end of the file.
such as bla.exe and bla(2).exe

I use Microsofts Visual Studio 2010 a lot and have created batch files for some programs I have worked on and only use Windows 7 most of the time.

I have not experienced the issues you speak of with being warned that the batch file is in use elsewhere on my system when I am working with a batch file.

If I am way off course here, sorry about my misunderstanding your question.

Bruce.
