can you explain what specifically you wanted to do

The router will broadcast a wireless signal - enabling any device to pick up and use the router to access the internet, providing the router is connected to an internet service.

Nothing to do with your PC
The PC is just another device that can connect to the wireless broadcast by the router
But the PC will need to be switched on to do that
Other devices can continue to use the router , even with your PC off

For my laptop, the speed was 300Mbps few days before but it changed to 54Mbps last night. I did not change any settings for my router and adapter and the only software I installed during this period is Windows update of March. I found the client monitor in router's setup page displays 802.11n is disabled. So what are the reasons?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I've got the adapter driver to be the latest one.

hi,i had been using the D-link DI 604 for my network of 3 computers for around 4 years
with no problems then one day it was gone.(the network).I tried reconfiguring the router from scratch but i couldn't get the WAN light to come on.and from what i heard this is a must.
i came to the conclusing that well ..time to buy a new router so i did.I bought an ENCORE ENRTR-104-2. which looks and it's setup is very similar to the D-link but...i now am experiencing the same problem. The WAN light won't light up...why is this happening??
I've tried connecting directly from the 2wire router to my computer and I instantly have internet connection..but once I plug it in the router WAN port the local network light goes off on the modem..This same thinghappened with the first routertoo.
any suggestions? thanks for your time in advance.

I'm a bit of a rookie when it comes to Networking but here goes.

I've got a D-Link DSL-604+ 22Mbps Wireless router with built-in ADSL modem and a D-Link DI-624 108Mbps Wireless Broadband router.

Obviously the DI-624 that I recently purchased doesn't feature an in-built modem so instead of blowing $50 on a D-Link ADSL modem with Ethernet connectivity I was hoping to use the ADSL modem feature in my old Wireless router (604+) as my modem for the DI-624.

I called D-Link support but unfortunately after an hour of following live instructions from their support staff, I ended up nowhere.

They instructed me to disable DHCP and NAT features on the 604+ and plug an ethernet cable into it's LAN PORT 1 and plug the other end into the WAN PORT on the 624.

I plugged an ethernet cable into the DI-624 LAN PORT 1 and into my computer's Ethernet port in order to configure the DI-624.

After configuring the DI-624 via its web configuration web page, I could get the 108Mbps network up and running but without the access to DSL.

If anyone any of the above mentioned products and can provide a tip or a link to a guide or something, that would be great.

A:TP Link or Linksys wifi router

That TP Link has almost 800 reviews on Amazon and it's almost all four star reviews. The cost of consumer wireless devises has become very affordable. I use those little $5 USB wifi dongles on my Raspberry Pi's and they work great. The box I'm on now has a low cost NetGear USB dongle and the speed and reliability is great. I'd buy it.

I have been using a TP-Link WR1043-ND for a while now. It is configured as a dumb switch with DHCP disabled. Every other day or so, the device stops taking connections and I cannot access via the IP address. A simple power toggle resets everything immediately. Through this, the LAN connected devices never lose connectivity, I simply am not able to connect wirelessly or access the router via web browser.

The only device I connect to the wifi is my phone, so it may actually be more frequently and I do not notice due to my low utilization (and I have 3G so I don't always notice right away if I'm connected). I have a WDTV Live SMP connected to one of the LAN ports and that functions non-stop regardless of the wifi. When the wifi is "down", my phone can see the network and attempts to connect. Sometimes it times out, other times I am repeatedly prompted that the password is incorrect, even though I am POSITIVE that I am entering it correctly. Once I toggle power on the router, the phone connects fine with the stored password.

I have updated to the latest firmware (about a month or so ago): Version: 3.13.12 Build 120405 Rel.33996n
My hardware version is: WR1043ND v1 00000000

The router is connected (via LAN port 1) to a wall drop. My upstairs roomate maintains the gig switch and modem, as well as handling the network admin. I simply am using the router as a switch to provide extra ports and broadcast the network over wifi in my apartment.

I bought a TP-Link TL-WR84N last week. I have a 50ft Ethernet cable connecting my ISP provided modem/router to the TP-Link router. The wired connection from the TP-Link to my computer is good (90mbps). However, the WiFi download speed is super slow (1.8mbps).
The router's firmware is up-to-date. (3.14.4 Build 131129 Rel.39318n)
The main reason I'm setting this up is for a stable Chromecast connection.

Any suggestions to improve the WiFi speed?

Hello there,
Recently setup my home wifi network, i had been noticing that my link speed to any device through my Dlink DIR 615 router, was always 65Mbps (as reported by the device), i searched around that i should set the channel width to 'auto 20/40mhz' to gain speed; however now that i did that, the link speed increased but only to 150Mbps as seen in the screenshot attached.

I could live with it but when i check the router's wireless status page, it reports the link to be 300'M' (which hopefully stands for Mbps) as it should be, sometimes its at 270M as well, but it always reports double of what windows and other devices like my android phone report...
i'm having a hard time figuring out whats going on with my setup.. i've checked for interference but there are hardly any other wifi networks in range.

Some more misc info about my setup: I use a Dlink Nano N300 adapter with my desktop...which was recommended for use with the router. Using WPA2-AES PSK, running the router in WPA2 only, wireless N only mode...Generally receiving full bars throughout my home.

Why is there a conflict in the link speed info displayed on my devices and the router?

A:DIR 615 reports link at 300Mbps, windows reports 150Mbps

Some more details, i installed the crappy dlink software to obtain more information about it and surely got soemthing out of it.
In the attached screenshot, its written Tx/Rx:150Mbps/300Mbps...which basically means its transmitting at 150M, hence what it shows in Windows, which leads me to the question, why?

I recently bought dlink D2750U WIFI ADSL modem/router, for my ADSL internet connection.

But I have now changed my ISP, who provide internet via cable(not telephone line). The ISP guy provides a cable modem(old modem) along with it.

I have connected my PC this way:
Cable modem -> Router -> PC through RJ45. I am able to access internet from my PC, but I am not able to get wifi working on the router. And I am logging onto internet through a dial up connection.
1) Please help in configuring the router to get wifi working.
2) Also, my default gateway seems to be either or blank. So, I am not able to login to the modem unless I remove the modem connection. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong here.

Here are a few more details:

Hey Narain. The D-Link unit you have appears to be a combo unit (modem and wireless router) since it connects straight to the RJ-11 phone line. This unit won't work with an ISP that provides service by way of coax cable. The D-Link will work if you want to use DSL, but you need a cable service compatible modem or combo modem/router if you use cable service.

Hi Guys,
This is Viral. I am using an Acer laptop model ASPIRE 4736 since the last five years. There haven't been much issues with it. except for the battery and thats it. But recently, since last two weeks I noticed that my Wifi would stop blinking after sometime after I start my laptop and then it wouldn't work even when I try to turn on and turn off the Wifi switch(it doesn't respond anything). I tried searching the net for this issue using my office laptop and found that a system restore would help to solve this issue. Since I remembered that I updated Java as well as there was this ad software which got installed and I had unistalled it. So I did a system restore and then when I opened the device manager, I am not able to see intel r wifi link 5100 driver on it. I tried restarting my laptop and did everything and couldn't find the driver(it was there before the system restore). But later on the same day, the driver got installed automatically and the WiFi started working but only for a couple of minutes after the restart and then it stopped. So  I did the system restore again to the date when everything was working perfectly and when i did that, again my intel r wifi link 5100 driver is not shown on the device manager(network adapters). I don't if it would automatically get installed or not but its sure that the WiFi issue still be there. So can you please help with this issue?

Ad-Hoc requires that you restart the session each time.

Connectify pro has an auto start option that does this but it's a paid version, connectify lite is free but I'm not sure if has auto start.

I have a significant problem with my computers not recognizing my d-link router. I screwed something up today and now my router won't work. I have had the router for years working just fine, but today I was trying to connect a new kindle which wouldn't connect to the Wi-Fi and I lost the router after screwing around with configuration.

Basically I've been trying to re-install the router, I changed the SSID but it appears the d-link quick router setup software recognizes the modem as the router and won't re-intall my router thus denying me access. Has anyone ever ran into a situation such as this? Please help...

A:D-Link Software recognizing modem as Router, router not working

Find the reset switch (usually a smal hole and you press a paper clip into it for ~5sec).

That will bring it back to day-1 default settings.

Unless you are attaching to the modem/router using USB, there's no software to be installed
(that's only used for USB) - -
just cable the eithernet cable to a LAN port on the router and then you can configure it

I am looking to replace my tired Linksys WRT54G router that is about 10 years old. I love the router, and its even better with DD-WRT on it, but I'm starting to have troubles with the wifi dropping all the connects for a couple seconds when running all my wireless devices. I have 3 smart phones, 2 tablets, 1 Chromecast, a smart TV, and Roku + a laptop or 3 in my house right now, and it seems like its getting to be a bit much for it.
I have had to completely re-flash the firmware twice this year to get the wifi working again, so I'm thinking its time for replacement.
I have been thinking about just getting the new WRT54GL for $50, but I'm also thinking it might be a good idea to upgrade the wifi technology past wireless G .
I'm wondering if my Tablet (Nexu 9), and our smartphones (Razr HD Max) along with the Chromecast will take advantage of the new wireless standards and higher speeds or not? If they will can someone recomend a decent wireless router that takes DD-WRT nicely in the sub-$100 range? Thanks!

A:Looking for new Wifi Router - Will Tablet/Smartphone take advantage of new wifi Standards?

I been programming in Android/Linux since 2010 and there is code that supports VHT is Very High Throughput. Right now the standards are HT is High Throughput .

As for DD-WRT firmware is like your overclocking your router pushing it beyond the OEM limits. I use to use DD-WRT but had quit many years ago since the routers that used that firmware would fail too much.

So best to buy a better business type enterprise router wired then you can use WiFi router as AP or just get WiFi AP(access point). To me WiFi Router is also Wired Router, but to use just a wired router and use WiFi AP through a switch is better. If one or the other goes you can easy replace them. Where as if the WiFi Router fails you would need to replace it.

If you really want to use DD-WRT then Look at Buffalo WiFi Routers some come pre-installed with DD-WRT on them. Frankly you really don't need DD-WRT today because newer routers or WiFi routers are much better built and offer much more power NPU = network processor units and 128, 256, 512, 1GB of RAM some have Dual Cores.

Verify that in your TP-Link router, the IP Scope is setup as 192.168.1.X same as in your D-Link router. Also, check the ports configured needed for your IP camera in the TP-Link router. You might want to compare the ports opened from D-Link.

Actually my wifi adapter can catch all other wifi signal except my wifi router.

A:my notebook wifi adapter don't get my wifi router

There are several resons.1. The wifi signal might be too weak at the point where the computer is.2. Other device radiation/signals might be blocking it.3. Your router signal might be hodden (check EWS of router).4. Signal broadcasting might have been turned off on router. Since other signals are found on the computer, there shouldnt be a issue with your couputer.

Hello, I am a bit of a hard time with 2 routers on one network and unfortunately as things stand now they both have to be there. So I just got ADSL and the only modem option available to me was one with a 4-port wired router, I hooked that up into my existing network of about 9 computers (5 laptops and 4 desktops) which is connected by another 4-port WiFi router.

I started out with my only goal of hooking 3 of these computers to the internet after I got the DSL by some MAC filtering configured in the WiFi router. But, having the DSL modem/router has created another issue. I am using 2 separate IP gateways for both the routers which are in the same subset, I can connect to both of them from all my machines. The problem is I don't have any control over which computer connects to what router. I am trying to avoid setting each PC up with a static IP that needs internet access.

Here is my setup in more detail. My ADSL router is and my WiFi router is and both have the subnet My ADSL connection has dynamic IP and the modem/router is connected into a LAN port on the WiFi router. I have tried disabling DHCP on the modem/router and changed my WiFi router IP to that of the modem (which was counter productive) to no avail. Someone mentioned MAC address cloning but I am not sure if it will work in this setup. Since I configured this I am seeing quite a few IP conflicts, which are probably my fault as I didn't check when I was setting... Read more

Hello, your model HP Pavilion g6-2260us do not have gigabit ethernet controler but only 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector), you can check spec of your unit on controler is tight with unit systemboard so it is not exchangeable. If you are looking for faster connection then you will need to purchase external USB network adapter.

I didn't really know where to put this, but some of you may not be familiar with DD-WRT.

This article will prick your interest if your interesting in turning a garden-variety router into a powerful tool.

How to hack your wireless router firmware | News | TechRadar UK

A:Turn a normal router into a powerful router

This is a great article, and DD-WRT has been out for a while. However, unless you know what you are doing, and need the additional features that DD-WRT/OpenWRT/Tomato (the last two are variants of DD-WRT), a normal user should not need the additional features that DD-WRT provides.

You can brick (render unusuable) a router doing the upgrades mentioned in the article.

I recently made some changes to settings on my router and am wondering what effect they may have had or exactly what they do. Some backround first. I recently purchased a Roku Streaming Media box and am trying to get it connected by my wireless network to a new HD TV. The player connected easily to an older TV without any network problems so I know the signal can be reached at the location. Other devices in the room connect fine. I called Roku support and the tech was as helpful as possible. We ended up making some changes to router settings and it appeared to fix it but it isn't connecting again. That is another issue. I just want to figure out what the settings changes did to my network, if anything
The router is a D-Link DIR-628, Firmware 1.24NA 4/12/10
These were the changes that were made:
Going to, entered pass word and got into router settings. Went to advanced-firewall settings-enable SPI. SPI was checked and we unchecked it and rebooted router. What is SPI and what does it do?
Secondly we went into Setup-Wireless Settings-Manual Wireless settings. We unchecked "enable auto channel scan" and changed the wireless channel from Channel 1 (?) to 2.462GHZ Channel 11. What effect does changing these settings have?
Thanks in advance for any information. Since the box isn't connecting again I'm thinking of reverting back to the original settings.
Steve Rehmann

A:Router Setting on D-Link DIR-628 Router

have a read here on SPI - and some incomapatabilities with some specific routers

Changing to channel 11 - would be to avoid interference on the wireless signals
Wireless can use channels 1-13 some countries restrict those channes to 1 to 11
channel 1, 6 and 11 are far enough apart not to overlap and cause interference

post back an xirrus screen shot and we can see what channel would be best for your area

how old is the roku ? - it maybe faulty.
do you have other wireless devices in the same location working ok
{run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Direct link to the program is here
Then run and install the program
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the sc... Read more

I bought a cheap, unbranded wireless adapter off the net, the chipset for which is REALTEK 8191.

The specification states - Data Rate: 802.11n up to 300Mbps (downlink) and 150Mbps (uplink).

Whenever I look at the status of the device, it either reports a speed of (more often than not) 135Mbps, or occasionally 150Mbps; yet a Netgear WNA3100 adapter that I have can report speeds of up to ~280Mbps when connected.

Is it likely that this Realtek adapter isn't really a 300Mbps device?

Thanks for your thoughts.

A:Is this Realtek wireless adapter really a 300Mbps device?

Manufacturers can play a lot of games with performance specifications. They specify 300Mbps but that would be achievable only under ideal conditions not normally seen in the real world. And as this is a cheap unit the specification may be highly optimistic.

Hello one and all,
I am sincerely hoping someone can assist with my little networking problem as i'm tearing my hair out now..

Here at work we have a Vigor Modem/Router hosting our connection to the world. It was originally on DHCP & the 4 computers & 2 printers found their own IP addresses without problem.

We added a Linksys router via ethernet (to a lan port not the wan) in another area of the yard. This was fine also on DHCP and connecting wirelessly from a laptop or mobile phone was a doddle.

Then our oh so wonderful IT geek decided to put the Vigor on a Static IP along with all the computers connected to it. This has some how cut off the wifi capability of the Linksys router now.

It is basically acting as a hub for two laptops and nothing else.

In simplistic terms with some detail what settings need changing on the Linksys if any?

The Vigors internal IP is
Linksys is
both on subnet

I have been advised to set the Linksys to a static IP on the Internet Connection option but what set of figures do i need for that??

Fingers crossed...

I have a wireless adsl router in preparation for broadband arriving in our area soon (long story), and have some questions:

I have a laptop with wifi card and want to setup a home network with this, and my PC (plugged-in via LAN cable to the router).. laptop is XP, PC is Win2K
I can't seem to get this to work. one minute the PC can 'see' the laptop (in network neighbourhood) and then the other way round, but I can never access shared directories on either... is there a good guide somewhere to set this up?

Also, shouldn't I be able to use the router from the PC as if it were a wifi card?
i.e. on the laptop, once the wifi card is plugged in, it displays all wifi networks in the area and their signal strength etc.... how can I do this using the router/PC??

With the laptop I can connect to our neighbours wifi router and use their bradband connection, but I want to do the same from the PC.. is that possible?

Thanks in advance all..

(P.S. router is a D-Link DSL-604+)

- Wired internet works fine
- Wifi signal ok, but not as stable as it should be
- NO internet via wifi, unless I remove the wifi security
- Removing and restoring the wifi security gave me back internet access, for only a while though.

All tested with pc, tablet and phone.
Any clues to what might be the problem?

I tried manually adding the Wifi network in the Wireless connection network menu, but it doesn't seem to do anything. A few days ago i did try to network share my macbook pro with my desktop(which i did get working) not sure if that might have caused the wireless failure. But it is odd that the pc and macbook pro now stop working, but the powerbook is fine.
any suggestions ?

In general these types of problems can be fixed by resetting the router. After resetting the router you will need to go through the routers set up page and enter your SSID, password, and other wireless connection settings.

If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

After doing all that and getting it installed, the system tray utility (D-Link Air Utility) has an "x" through it and says Wireless PCI Adapter radio off! I have no idea how to turn radio on. I can't find anything in the configuation utility, there's absolutely nothing in the manual about it and I cannot find anything on google for enabling the radio on for this card.

Ok I have a Asus G60VX thats less than a year old running windows 7. On Friday (three days ago) the system was working fine, I could connect to the internet and everything. Tonight when i turned on my laptop it showed that i couldn't connect to the internet. So i rebooted both my computer and router thinking it was my brother playing Xbox live. It still didn't work. So i tried the usual suspects: deleted the saved file and made a new one, went into the device manager and made sure there weren't any problems (there weren't), i even tried doing a system restore but to no avail. I tried the Fn combo on my keyboard and the switch on the front but this still didn't work. Did you install any iTunes or Apple software before this happened?

For now, try resetting the network protocol tcp/ip stack. In an elevated command prompt, copy and paste this then hit enter:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
Then do the same for this command:

netsh winsock reset
Reboot and test the connection. If still no good, go into Internet Explorer.

Tools | Internet Options | Connection | Lan Settings

and make sure there are no checked boxes. Then ok your way out a few times. Reopen IE and test.

If still no good, please respond about the Apple, iTunes software and/or do you have mdnsresponder.exe in the task manager?

try this either set a hard coded dns

or hard code the ip if you know what your network ip address numbers are
that your access point uses

so say some thing like
this is very very common here

IP: 192.168.1. 100-150

and find a dsn server

dont use them numbers there just make sure that your using the right set for the network that your connecting too
i have the same card in my laptop and its a work horse and some

also is the network that your connecting too secure make sure you have your settings right

It also goes off by itself if the computer is left on for any length of time without being used.

I'm sure the ports aren't broken because if I connect my laptop through wifi, then plug it into my modem and turn wifi off, it stays connected.

A:D-Link dsl-G624T - Connects with wifi but not through LAN ports

Well maybe the port on the router have died, that's what it sounds like.

Another possibility is a firewall issue, have you disabled ALL the firewalls to see if that changes the symptoms?

Another thing to try with the wired connection is booting in Safe Mode with Networking and then trying to connect.

also even in ideal situations you are not going to get the throughput specified in the n spec or advertised...
it says *up to* because that is the maximum speed that it will go and usually the hardware never reaches that speed....

Hi all,
I'm having an issue with my TP Link USB wifi adapter losing connectivity during video calls or extended downloads.
I have tried multiple recommended fixes; disable power options allowing sleep, uninstalled/reinstalled USB drivers, disabled USB legacy support in the BIOS etc but it still seem to get intermittent drops especially during high packet count streams like during video calls over google hangouts.

I'm currently running windows 10 pro with all recently patches, wifi router is a TP-LINK archer C7 and a TP link USB adapter running 5Ghz.

I've played around with multiple settings on the adapter to no avail.
Also, this seems to be the only device thats dropping, I have other devices; laptops, XBOne connected via wifi which have no issues. To resolve the loss, I just have to unplug/plug the adapter back in to bring the connection back up. This almost looks like an issue with the USB specifically since the signal is always 300Mb+ and the windows antenna doesnt show as disconnected, I just start loosing pings and I have to pull/plug the adapter.

PS: I didn't see any default template to posting system diag like I've seen on other forums in the distant past, so if that is a necessity, please shoot me a link to the instructions.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hi,too little information to give you any direct solution. however most issues are solved by driver updates. try updating WIFI, Quick launch driver and chipset drivers... steps belowPlease visit and select suport & drivers>drivers & softwares> type the the complete model of your PC such as dv6-6100 dv6-3100 etc... select your computer model (if listed), or select the CTO(such as dv6-6100 CTO) model(which works for whole series) now select the OS you are running. you have the list of drivers for your PC.hope it helps, Good Luck !!!

Have updated to 8 from XP. Can't use wifi. I can connect but wifi says off and I cannot work out to turn on. I have a generic lap top that never missed a beat under XP. With XP the driver was, per the cd, wireless networking solution by msi. When I check after upgrade it now says ralink technology11g mini pci. Like a lot of people, I have had problems with updates failing, whoever doing them in lots of 5 I have got them through, except 1 from ralink 11g minipci. Greatly appreciate if someone could tell me how to turn wifi on, or how to rerun failed update for driver. I am not super cluey however can handle all the basics. Bob.

A:Wifi says off, how to turn on.

Maybe try this:
Click start and type "ncpa.cpl" and hit enter (or you can go to My Documents and type in the address bar "ncpa.cpl" and hit enter) then right click on Wi-Fi or your internet and click enable. Do not know if this will work but you can give it a try.

Hello. First off, thank you very much for the time and expertise you donate via this website.

The issue began last week with a program that showed up on my computer called Guard Online. It may have been named AV Guard Online as well. A Windows Security alert popped up, stating there were security issues that were compromised. It also showed my avast! antivirus was turned off, and when I tried to turn it back on, the antivirus would not turn on. When I reluctantly clicked on the notice about Windows Security, it showed Windows Firewall was turned off, as well as Windows Malware. I tried to turn on Firewall, but it stated I wasn't able to access it and it had to be turned on manually. When I tried to do this, another message said that it couldn't be accessed or it couldn't be started. I use Firefox for my main browser, and I have had instances with link redirects from Google searches and websites that will change to another website at random.

I have run SuperAntiVirus and got rid of some items. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I have searched all over the internet and these forums, and it seems many people are searching the same thing. How do I turn off the mouse auto click when it hovers over a link in a web page. I downloaded the windows 10 and it has started doing this. I can't find a thing anywhere about this issue. I have an Asus laptop and a Toshiba laptop and they are both doing this since getting the windows 10. I spend more time going back to my original page than I get to read the original page! Try shopping and reading a description. Taking a test online was challenging to say the least.

First welcome to Techspot forum.
Second have you updated the firmware on the 524?
Third have you udpated the drivers for wireless adapter for your laptop?

Try 2 and 3 and see if that fixes your problem?

Before, it was only LAN and now I bought the wireless to use my iPhone with it. Now LAN wont work at all on either of my computers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Ethernet drivers, rebooted/checked the modem and router, but still couldn't get it to work.
My Windows XP shows connected, but Chrome says unable to connect to the Internet.

I've checked TCP/IP settings, made it automatic, still nothing.

Any tips?

I was just wondering, if there is a way that I could possibly retrieve my router account somewhere I tend to forgot it since I'm not having problems with my router since I bought it 3 to 4 years ago. Also, does having its factory settings pressed at the back of the router needs to be installed again? thanks hope for your replies

A:D-Link DIR-300 Router

From the online manual - these are the login default settings, if you changed these and cant remember , then you are not going to be able to access , without doing a factory reset

To access the configuration utility, open a web-browser such as Internet Explorer and enter the IP address of the router (
Enter the user name (admin) and your password. Leave the password blank by default.

Also, does having its factory settings pressed at the back of the router needs to be installed again?Click to expand...

You will need to re-configure the router after doing a factory reset, however, it depends if you needed to make any changes 3-4 years ago, you may just need to set up the wireless security, or do nothing

Setup, Advanced, Filters, and block whatever ports you feel are offensive.

You can also lock MAC addresses to IP addresses so you can filter specific machines, that's on the DHCP screen from the Main menu.

If its brand new - it maybe faulty - I would try a factory reset see below
if that does not change anything , then i would return under warranty

There are two ways to reset to the Router's factory defaults:
1) Use the Factory Defaults function on System Tools -> Factory Defaults page in the
Router's Web-based Utility.
2) Use the Factory Default Reset button: Press the Reset button for five seconds and then
wait for the Router to rebootClick to expand...

I need to be able to communicate from my PC on the LAN (10.16.xx.xx) to a PLC / HMI is a furnace which have a 192.168.xx.xx type address and communicate with each other via a switch.

I was hoping to use static routing on a router (TP Link TL-R402M) to allow me to connect with the PLC. I have tried a few options but I am unable to ping. Please see attached for a layout and an example routing.

Do I need more than one routing defined ?

Any help would be appreciated.

A:TP Link Router Help

If the router portion of the TL-R402M has its LAN Address (Gateway Address) set as with a sub-net mask of, it will only handle communications for devices on its LAN ports having addresses in the range of ~ If you plan on using a switch, and not a second router, for connecting the PLC, HMI and Barcode units to the TL-R402M, they will need unique IP addresses in that range and the PC will also need a unique IP address in that range. The IP address for the PC will not work.

EDIT: Did some thinking over lunch. Are you connecting the PC to the WAN port of the TL-R402M and switch for the PLC, HMI and Barcode units to a LAN port of the TL-R402M? If so, please list separately the IP configuration data for both LAN and WAN portions of the TL-R402M
