No audio when playing DVD

Q: No audio when playing DVD

DVD plays in Cyberlink PowerDVD, RealPlayer, but no audio output.
VCD can play in Windows Media Player and have audio, but not with the DVD. What's wrong? need your help..tnx.

A: No audio when playing DVD

Does the DVD have audio anyways? Maybe its missing some audio files... Check it in a dvd player to check.

Hi

I've been stuggling with this for a few hours now and am at the end of my wits..

I've got two audio devices that I would like to link to my PC at once.
I've got one plug connected to the back panel, and one to the front. But one always cuts off the other. In my sound devices, the system registers them both as: "speakers, VIA High Definition Audio, Standard device"

Is there any way that I can connect them both at once, and still have both of them outputting audio?

I hope the internet will save the day!

Many thanks in advance!

A:Multiple audio playing devices, playing the same sound at once

If you use realtek,
Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting
Otherwise You're pretty much screwed, only other way is to use Virtual audio cable, but you'd have to set it up every time you booted (and it costs 20$)

In Mac OS Quick time does this (I can have 10 audios all playing simultaneously). WMP nor VLC seem capable of this.

I need a solution to this for both Linux/ubuntu and Windows 7. Maybe there's a way to customize vlc or wmp?

Thanks.

Hello everyone. I am using a old-ish Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista. So, every time I'm playing songs on YouTube, then open FL Studio 10, FLS 10 won't let me play or record any audio. When I look at the "ASIO4ALL" box it has A little red "X" on audio output(I use "Realtek HD Audio" if that helps). Now when I stop the internet audio/YouTube and restart FLS 10, the little red "X" is gone and all the sound works... I was wondering how to play Internet audio while playing or recording audio on FL Studio 10 is there something I can tweak with the laptop audio or some better sound program I can download free(or not free)and not have to get a new sound card??? Thank you for your time. Peace.

A:How to play Internet audio while playing or recording audio on FL Studio 10

Please use the font I've changed your post to above. Otherwise, apart from hurting the eyes of the reader, you'll seem to be like shouting.

Recording from youtube, be it whole clips or the audio track, is against youtube's TOS.

Therefore closing this since we cannot help.

Hello,

Starting about a week ago whenever any audio is being played through my computer (speaker or headphone) I will hear a buzzing sound and occasionally the audio with skip. This happens weather I am playing audio that is being streamed from the internet or that is on my computer directly.

I have tried several things to fix this problem including installing all windows updates that are available as well as updating my audio drivers.

I am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. My computer model is hp pavilion dv7t quad 6100 and I have IDT high definition audio codec driver version 6.10.6381.0 which my computer says is the latest driver version. Updating to this version has not solved the problem, however.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. If there is additional info that is neccesary, please let me know and I will post it.

A:IDT High Def Audio, buzzing sound when playing any sort of audio.

Unplug the speakers from the PC and see if you still get the buzz with headphones. Some "buzz" problems can be related to "AC power ground loop" problems if some separately powered devices are connected.

Noise and skipping are problems that have been posted here before. There is no "one fix" for that. There are possible hardware problems, drivers (including video drivers), Interrupt issues, Wi Fi caused, etc.

Skipping can be because the other device that is on the shared Interrupt that the sound is on is interrupting the sound. Sound is always on a shared interrupt (IRQ) with a higher priority device. You can try this: go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the IDT and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT check the box to uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect the sound and reinstall it and some times put it on a different shared IRQ.

I noticed that very occasionally, my computer will hang. Nothing will respond, not even Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and the only way out of it is to force a shut down by holding down the power button.

I also noticed that this has always occurred when audio is playing. The audio will loop infinitely once the computer hangs. Sometimes, when I hold down the power button for a while, the system will unhang. Other times it will not.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1
Sound card: Realtek ALC662
I should also mention that the machine is a laptop!

I can't update to the latest Realtek drivers because that causes the sound to start crackling and fizzing really badly (stupid bug). I also don't have any minidumps as the computer doesn't get a BSOD, it just hangs and I have to force shutdown.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem or what I can do to help you solve this problem?

A:System Crashes While Playing Audio, Audio loops indefinitely

What is manufacturer and exact model number of laptop?

Run Belarc - http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Audio cd's stop playing after a minute + also having trouble ripping audio cd's to my computer.

I need some help and not sure what to do next? Seems this problem is common but I can't seem to get it down. I'm far from a expert so please help me...

My dad has a Compaq presario SR5550f w/ Vista 32bit w/ service pack 2 up to date.
When he try's to play audio cd's he get's this message.

Windows Media Player cannot read the CD. The disc might be dirty or damaged. Turn on Error correction, and then try again.

CD player plays only 1 minute and 3 seconds before error-ing out (although still plays DVDs). So, I thought Ok, let me rip his music and he can play off his comp. But when I try to rip audio it's goes about 20% and gives me a read error.

So, I turned on Error correction and nothing.

Seen in a few forums that I should update the drivers.

I uninstalled the burner driver from the device manager and nothing still.

I updated his Nvidia graphics driver just fine but it didn't find any thing for the motherboard?

I also updated his audio driver from the hp website.

So, after all that I thought maybe it's a hard ware issue? So, I changed out this burner for a new one and it still does the same thing?

have tested other cd-rs & retail audio disc. For some reason it's just audio's and ripping?

The other day he watched a whole dvd movie just fine!

I'm gussing it's a driver ... Read more

Very recently my computer's audio has stopped working.
My headset has a separate microphone and headphone plugin. I use a combiner to put both of them into the computer at once.
Anyway, I cannot hear audio through my headphones, whether I use the combiner or not. I have tried to hear audio of various applications (browsers, Groove music, video games, etc.) and none work. The audio comes out through the computer speakers normally.
I have already restarted my computer and this did not fix the problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions/fixes?

I've actually already seen this problem handled here, and while trying to follow of the solutions realized that I might need some personal help. The computer already had a lot of assorted malware that has been (mostly) dealt with with Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D scans, though this problem presists (also, a "MyPC Backup" PUP that's yet to go away as the files that need to be deleted are always in use apparently). My main concern though is the audio issue. It plays sounds from what I assume are ads, before I even have the chance to launch Firefox (I thought it could've just been an ad or hidden pop up window at first). The only thing I've been able to connect it to is the "Name Not Available" option in the audio mixer, which muting causes it to stop, though I'd rather eliminate the problem completely than just muting it and pretending that it's not there. DDS Log:  DDS (Ver_2012-11-20.01) - NTFS_AMD64Internet Explorer: 9.0.8112.16421  BrowserJavaVersion: 10.45.2Run by sheila at 18:26:02 on 2014-01-05Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium   6.1.7601.1.1252.1.1033.18.3032.791 [GMT -6:00].AV: Avira Desktop *Enabled/Updated* {F67B4DE5-C0B4-6C3F-0EFF-6C83BD5D0C2C}SP: Avira Desktop *Enabled/Updated* {4D1AAC01-E68E-63B1-344F-57F1C6DA4691}SP: Windows Defender *Enabled/Outdated* {D68DDC3A-831F-4fae-9E44-DA132C1ACF46}.============== Running Processes ===============.C:\Windows\system32\lsm.exeC:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe -k DcomLaunchC:\Windows\sy... Hi everyone,

First time I've visiting this forum. My computer started playing audio ads a few days ago, I have run every spy/malware program under the sun and nothing is stopping them. I have been advised to run Combofix but thought I would see what the advice here was before I take what appears to be drastic action.

I am not an expert, but not an idiot either. I will be able to follow advice!

Any and all help is very welcome.

Thank you!

Hi Folks,

I do have a small problem with, I think codecs. I have a movie with .avi extension. Now the problem is that there is no audio being played. Other movies are ok, it's just this one that is troublesome. The problem lies in audio codec - see G-spot below:
Please note the Audio information which says:
0x2000 (Dolby AC3) AC3
48000Hz 192 kb/s tot , stereo (2/0)

now another instant of a movie with nearly the same stats is below (audio there is working properly)
0x2000 (Dolby AC3) AC3
48000Hz 384 kb/s tot , 6 chnls (3/2 .1)

Anyone knows how to get the sound working in first example? it seems that codecs are installed, however something is not fully right...

Thanks.

A:No audio while playing avi. in WMP

Download and install the K Lite Codec Pack. It should have any codec that you need.

Hi All,

I am new in this community and I'm really glad I've come across it.

I believe my problem started when I watched a video via streaming (for free) from this website called watch32.is. As expected, there are heaps of ads being free. Every time you clicked on the play button, it would open up a new page for the ads. After a few days, I noticed that while watching a show, an audio of a ads would play in the background.

I looked it up online and it appeared to be a malware/adware. I called my anti-virus/spyware product support and after running several scans no threats were reported. It is very annoying because even if I'm not browsing anything, the ad audio plays in the background.

Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of this?

Thanks a lot.

Cheers,
iwannabe_geek

A:Ads audio playing in the background

I am a novice pretty new to this Site also and I am not going to even attempt to answer your query because I know that expert advice will be along here very shortly.
All I can say is this Site has been a god-send to me in helping me gain tech knowledge in how to keep my pc virus-free. The guys and girls here are awesome!
I am sure someone will come along to recommend you use Junkware Removal Tool and/or AdwCleaner of which there are downloads available within this Site.
Use them if indeed this is the case -  as well as read up about the potential problems that PUP's (Potentially Unwanted Programs) can cause. Also, if you are ever tempted to download and use a free pc 'boosting' or other supposed performance-enhancing program in future - DONT! Registry cleaners are a no-no as well!

Sorry to diverse away slightly from your original query....just a bit of 'advice' (if you can call it that! lol) from a fellow novice!

All steps taken to try and resolve issue can be found at https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/563549/audio-ads-playing-in-background/.

Audio ads play in background at seemingly random times. Whenever the ads play multiple instances of the Iexplorer.exe (you cant see any internet explorer windows) process are found running and sometimes taking up 100k plus memory while playing audio ads.

I will attach 2 sets of DDS logs one for when no audio ads are playing (after computer restart) and another for after the audio ads play.

The entire ad is no longer playing all the way through, they stop after a few seconds.

Here's a funny one.
Part of my job is to burn audio cd's for use around work, I use WMP 12 for the burn.
They are played on various players, old cd players, boom boxes etc as well as pc's.

Recently, a couple of the older cd players have a problem with the audio.
They recognize the tracks on the cd and start to play but no audio comes out, but a commercial cd plays fine. One of the older cd players DOES play it OK.

I used a different batch and brand of CD with the same results.
I then replaced the burner and it still does the same thing.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

A:Audio CD's no longer playing

The burn speed is the problem with older Audio CD players. They will either not play the CD or skip.

I have a recording studio and also have audio CD production for creating and duplicating audio CD's. My Audio CD Burn Speed "Standard" is 8X. Above 8X its iffy. 8X is compatible with almost all Audio CD players.

However, most SATA interface CD burners (what is used on most PC's in the last 6 or 7 years) will only go down to 16X speed. I have a bank of 5 USB connected PATA (IDE) interface CD/DVD burners and they will burn at 8X.

New burner drives that will burn at 8X are mostly non existent. I have one reserve space burner drive but if more than 1 dies I won't be able to replace it.

But, try the audio burn at 16X and see if the users can play that. I don't know if WMP allows selecting burn speed. For a free CD burner, download the free "CDBurnerXP" and it will allow selecting burn speed. Caution, look for any crapware when downloading or installing and make sure you uncheck anything you don't want (you only want the CDburnerXP program not the other junk).

I use Nero BurningROM application for my audio CD burning. It allows selecting burn speed and burning to multiple drives at the same time. NERO is not free.

First off, I want to thank you for viewing this post and for helping me resolve this issue. I'll give you the back-story of what happened. This morning, I turned on my computer as normal and played games. I then turned on my Skype so I could talk to the friends I was playing with. After a while, while playing my game, my computer randomly restarts itself. When it finally booted, I immediately got back on Skype and started my game. After some time, however, it started playing random audio such as advertisements, music, etc. I thought it was Skype so I closed it. The audio continued to play. I knew it couldn't have been my game because League of Legends does not play radio and advertisements. However, I closed my game after a while in an attempt to figure out what is playing the audio. I opened up my Volume Control and noticed that there was something called "Name Not Available". I muted this and the audio stopped. This should not be there, however, and I'm trying to figure out what is making this audio play and how I can get rid of it.

Hello. On my Dad's computer, XP professional, quite a low spec 500Mhz AMD CPU thing whenever he plays an audio CD it 'crackles' (his description).

On investigating this it appears the PC plays audio via the IDE bus, and as it's a lowly machine every time the HDD is accessed, the audio get interrupted which causes the 'crackle'.

There is the usual audio L+R cable running from the rear of the CD to the audio input socket on the motherboard but how do you persuade the CDROM drive and/or windows to stop using the IDE bus and just play via the audio?

Weird!

Thanks for any help.

A:Stop audio CD playing via IDE bus...

The problem is the sound card/chip.

The remedy is to not use the onboard sound chip (which is CPU-intensive, of necessity) and install/use a PCI sound card which is not CPU-intensive.

After I reformatted my computer, when I plug in a tv through HDMI, the video will display, but audio continues to play out of my laptop speakers. Under audio playback devices, I have two things listed, both say High Definition Audi Playback, one is enabled and the other is disabled. No matter what I enable or disable I cant get it to work. The one thing I notice after the reformat is that there is a question mark by one thing in device manager that says base system device. The computer is a 64 bit windows 7 home dell studio. Any thoughts would be great.

A:HDMI Audio Not Playing Through TV

Understand that HDMI came out of the home theater world for interconnecting DVD players and A/V receivers to TVs so users did not have to worry about all the separate video and surround sound audio cables. HDMI migrated to the computer world primarily driven by monitor makers (who coincidently are the same as TV makers) so the monitor makers did not have to use DVI connectors here and HDMI connectors there. Note that the video signal in DVI and HDMI is the exact same. Graphics card makers soon followed suit and started including the smaller HDMI connectors on thier cards, with DVI connectors in the process of phasing out.

BUT, with computers, most graphics cards, even those with HDMI, do NOT support audio - that's what sound cards (and integrated audio) are for. So it is typical for HDMI connections on computers to only carry video, thus requiring you to also connect audio via separate audio connections.

Note some newer motherboards with both integrated audio and video do route audio through the HDMI port, but some don't. And some add-in graphics cards that support HDMI, may, or may not allow you to internally connect an audio cable so audio can be run through the HDMI connector.

So may guess is you simply need to run a separate audio cable from your sound card to your TV's audio inputs.

I saw this problem was solved many times on the forums, but didn't want to follow the steps in case they were meant only for the other people's unique situations. So I decided to make an account and ask for help.
These ads usually play around 3-4 am, but happen throughout the day and in the volume mixer, its shown its done through chrome. Also recently, chrome has been eating up a lot of CPU usage even when it's not doing anything, so I think thats related.
Used malwarebytes, Kaspersky, doesn't detect anything.
Thanks in advance.

I currently have the same issue as sutefaniidesu who had an entry entitled "Audio ads playing in the background" from Jan 1, 2010. I've included the sysinfo, ComboFix log and the "loaded drivers" information from my ntbtlog.txt. My issue occurs as soon as the login screen appears which is why I'm sending the ntbtlog.txt. Hello! Earlier tonight my computer randomly restarted itself, and afterwards I've been having random audio ads playing in the background. It's not coming from my web browser, and my volume mixer is showing it as "name not available." I downloaded Avast! free and I'm currently running a full system scan, but it hasn't found anything, and the webshield is constantly popping up, telling me it's blocking multiple malware objects that are infecting my System32\svchost.exe. I haven't downloaded anything risky recently that I can remember, but I have streamed tv shows online on project free tv.

I've read a thread on here that had a similar problem and it ended up being a rootkit, and I think that might be the case here .

Hi xMassy,

Run these for me:

Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.

Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.
A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
Do not reboot until instructed.
If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.

Hi,

After startup I can hear advertisements in the background even though I am not running any programs. I run Windows 7

Upon opening the task manager it shows that internet explorer is open and that a website advertising something is open. I can't end the task either.

Sometimes it plays the entire ad or cuts off midway but it slows down other programs sometimes. It's more annoying than anything but I'm worried it may be a more serious threat.

I ran some anti malware

Hitman Pro
Malwarebytes
Rogue Killer
Comodo Cleaning Essentials
Emergency Kit Scanner
AdwCleaner

and ran full scans using myTrend Micro Antivirus and Microsoft Security Essentials.

They all came up clean but Hitman Pro did notice some tracking cookies

So anyway, what else can I do to try and fix this?

Greetings:

I found you guys through a google search and read the thread about random audio playing. I followed the steps about downloading Hijack this and have a log (That I will place below.) Could someone take a look and give me a hand with this?

To give more information, I was attacked last night through a unsecured browser and immediately severed the connection. Then I ran Ad-Aware, Clean-up and will run Spybot in a minute. I found a malicious program that I immediately got rid of but I still get random audio ads playing.

Thanks for your assistance in advanced

Good evening.

Ever since this morning, I've been getting audio ads playing on my computer despite the fact that my browser is closed and that no video is playing at all. I've been worried, since my Windows Live OneCare detected trojans recently... But I deleted them, and now it doesn't detect anything wrong anymore, no viruses, nothing. A few times I opened Task Manager to check if I noticed a process that I didn't recognize, but nothing came on.

Here is my HijackThis log. Please do tell me if you see something suspicious.

So basicly I hear audio advertisements playing in the background that talk about buying products, "How I got rich quick", etc...

Somethings to note are Firefox is my default browser I never use Internet explorer.
The Iexplorer.exe process will always run 3 instances of itself even though you cannot see it open, If you try to kill the process it will open back up automatically.
The application tab shows Internet explorer connected to the following website: "http://ib.pixadsserve.com/?s=23327" and will sometime switch to careercast.com.

I have tried MBAM but this thing will not go away. Maybe someone here knows.

Hello again,

My saga continues with getting all the kinks out of this newly constructed
desktop computer. All and all things are going well.

I still have one pesky problem. I can not get audio from when playing DVDs.
I can place an audio CD in the drive and I hear that just fine.

I am using the canned dvdplayer.exe from windows 2000.
I have installed every service pack and patch available from Microsoft based on there windows update tool.

I also get no audio when I use the MaXimus DVD player version 1.2

I know that it must be a codec problem. That is all I know though.

I have attached a copy of the information tool from Nero 6.0.
It is information overload for me.
Can anyone guide me in correcting this problem? This is the last step before I hand the computer over to its proud new owner. :giddy:

A:No Audio while playing DVDs

I see on that report you have a Roxio driver on your machin CDralW2k, Cdr4_2k
These files cause a conflict with Nero .You will need to go to Nero's site and read a bit on this issue and clean it up. They have utilities for this .
I would use the Nero Showtime as a player and uninstall your DVD player.
Turn off Autorun and point media files to start Nero
There is a update for nero to 6.6 You may want to do this after you clear the conflicts.

Hello TSG!

For about 6 months now, I have had an issue with my Toshiba laptop with x86 Vista Ultimate installed. It plays no audio. When I 'test audio' it says "Failed to play test tone."

I have repeatedly googled answers to this problem and most involve reinstalling drivers, restarting the audio service, turning off all sound effects, attempting to use headphones and even deleting some registry keys. None of these have solved the issue. I know my sound card is fine as the audio works fine when I dual boot into Ubuntu. The sound doesn't work either when I use my external USB sound card.

So, before I take a dive and spend shedloads of money on professionals, does anybody have any suggestions?

A:Vista Isn't Playing Audio

Is the audio chipset recognized and listed in Device Manager (and it should not have a yellow ! next to it)? Have you verified the audio setup? IE: chipset selected as the default audio source, output deivce (speakers) configured properly

Worst case, you need to reinstall the OS. No need to spend money on "professionals".

Hi,

There are random audio advertisements playing in the background on my computer. They are usually short bursts of different ads that come on for about 5 seconds and then turn off for a little while. They are not the result of an application or program, because even when everything is closed I can still hear them. They are fairly recent, and have been playing for about 3 weeks. I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of them. I am running a Windows Vista 32-bit system on a Toshiba laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard  Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your Desktop. There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully. If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.Do not reboot until instructed. If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode. When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.Post it in your next reply.NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

Hello nopcs These are the programs I would like you to run next, if you have any problems with one of these just skip it and move on to the next one.-AdwCleaner-Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.Close all open programs and internet browsers.Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.Click on Delete.Confirm each time with Ok.Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart. Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer. You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.-Junkware-Removal-Tool-Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".The tool will open and start scanning your system. Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications. On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message. When they are complete let me have the two reports and let me know how things are running.Gringo

Hello,

I am looking for some help here. My computer got infected Yesterday. I ran Malwarebyes and that cleared the main Virus but I still have Audio Ads playing randomly in the background. I can have no browser open but those Ads keep playing and I get redirected when using Google search. I also get Script error every so often. When I look at the process, there is nothing running there, Only way to stop it by killing Explorer.exe. I have run Rootkit Buster (Trend Micro), Tdss Killer, Malware Bytes, Hit Man Pro and Combofix. None of them are finding anything. I have also clear all my temps using Ccleaner. I also Uninstall Firefox (My Main Browser) and also reset Internet Explorer and also manually disabled all Browser. When None of this worked, I did a system restore to 2 weeks ago, the script error popped right back up as soon as I logged back in, I ran updated combofix again. Please help, I am not posting the Log as its says so i the forum rule but I ran it before reading this rule...

Thank you !

A:Background Audio Ads Playing

You most likely have a Bootkit infection.Having run ComboFix we need to see that and a DDS log. Please go here....Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9 which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.Skip the GMER step and instead post the ComboFix log you have.Let me know if that went well.

Like a few others on here I have a problem with occasional adverts playing randomly on my my pc. Audio sound, no other physical appearance of an IE page or a file running through task manager. I *think* that if I browse via Chrome all is well but as soon as IE fires up for any reason that seems to trigger the ads to start running. PrimeScratchcards. com as a song is doing my head in !

Hi, I have 2 CD-roms connected to the PC - one as a master, one as a slave. I use two because one is slower and can't handle some of my CD's and vice versa.

The problem I have is with the master drive. It works perfectly with data CD's but with audio CD's it only plays for about seconds, then stops, then plays for another 3 seconds, stops, etc, etc.

Can't work out what the problems is at all.

Any thoughts?

A:[SOLVED] No Audio When Playing A Dvd

Hi khjavy8,

If music cd's play ok on the drive then I would suggest trying to install some codecs.
Try the K-lite Codec pack (free, Google), or the AC3 codec (also free, Google). Windows Media Player probably doesn't have the codecs needed to decode the audio.

Last night some random audio ads started playing on my PC - not from any webpage, but from the PC itself. I ran TDSSKiller but it didn't find anything, I also ran Malwarebytes Anti-malware, which found 11 objects including two Trojans. I quarantined them and deleted them.

I want to make absolutely sure, however, that my PC is free of malware now. I'd be very grateful to anyone who helped me out. I ran a DDS log and the results are as follows:

Hi guys,

I've read a lot of forum posts on similar problems, but I thought I should post to get a response that's a bit more tailored to my specific situation. Basically I've had this issue for the past couple of weeks where ads will play in the background (whether I'm using the computer or not) and occasionally a window or two with ads or whatever will pop up as well. I have Symantec, but on full scan that hasn't found anything. I've also ran MBAM and Ad-Aware multiple times in both Safe Mode and regular mode, which find tracking cookies and the like but haven't been able to fix the problems despite the most recent updates. Anyway, I'm at my wits end with this and am hoping you guys will be able to find something.

Within the past month or so, I have been noticing a very irritating situation with my PC. For no reason at all, audio starts coming out of my system. The most common one "played" is just some guy saying, "Congratulations, you've won". But there are many others, and the others all seem to be "radio" commercials for various PC games generally. (About 20-30 seconds long) And they occur constantly. All hours of the day and night. To the beginning. I own a Dell XPS 410 PC. (Screenshot below with specifics). It originally had Vista Ultimate installed on it, but after a LONG drawn out fight with Microsoft, they sent me Windows 7 Ultimate to install on this machine. I'm certain that the upgrade was done on or around 7/13/10. I had to wait to install 7 because I needed a new CD/DVD player to do so. (Screenshot of that item below also). Now, I have this issue. I have updated and run SUPERAnti-spyware, MalwareBytes, (Both run several times, with nothing more ever found other than cookies) and am currently using Microsoft Security Essentials for my AV. I saw an article from a newsletter I get called Guiding Tech regarding rootkits and downloaded one they recommended, and ran it. It's called Sophos Rootkit Detector .exe and under a quick scan it detected something called "Trojan.Hashish.3". I also ran "rkill.exe" as recommended from this site. (Screenshot included below) Other than killing my Google Chrome browser, and all... Read more

My CD-ROM drive used to play audio CD's fine. However, what has been happening recently is that it only plays the very first song of a CD and then it stops. I can't fast-forward through the song either. I've tried multiple CD playing programs and multiple audio discs and it still happens. There is also a rattling noise that occurs when I put a CD in the drive. The system properties section of Windows describes my CD-ROM drive as "LG CD-ROM CRD-8400B". Do any of you possibly know why my CD-ROM drive could be doing this?

A:CD-ROM drive not playing audio CD's

the motor could be misaligned. If it has a play button on the face, plug some headphones into the port and press play when a disc is in. If this works, its a driver problem in the software. my $0.02

I've been having problems with ads playing in the background when there are no programs running. There are occasional popups as well, which started when the background ads started. I've run my antivirus and spybot but they didn't find anything. Here's my HJT log:

I can't quite see how any of the DirectX objects I can include will do the business.

I am trying to concatenate three or four sounds from a list of 100's.

I have considered "Shell" but there may be unacceptable and variable delays.

Any ideas anyone?

I just built a new pc about a week or two ago and really haven't even had time to download anything to get a virus was surfing the web and browsing through steam forum i closed everything out and went into the other room and started hearing audio playing.

i came back in to a ghost playing of a gamespot review for deadly premonition playing out of nowhere it was kind of humorus.. and after a reboot it stopped.

I visited gamespot (and it wasnt for deadly premonition lol) but it was a couple days ago. Any chance of this being a virus/trojan/hack of some sort? I checked all my processes but nothing was open that i could find that would have caused this sort of thing.

Hi Guys,
Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a toshiba laptop running the following -

Intel (R) Core (TM) Duo CPU T2250 @1.73 Ghz 1.73 Ghz
Memory (RAM) 4.00GB
System Type - 32 bit Operating System

Running Windows Vista Business 2007 Service pack 1.

Browser - IE 8

Yesterday I downloaded a couple of (obviously dodgy) files and also a (supposedly legitimate) program. Since downloading these, I found my default search engine had changed, and also I was getting audio ads playing in the background without IE open at all.

One of the files was an .exe which I am not sure what it was, the program was the 'Coffee Cup' website building software.

The first thing I did was reset my browsers default search engine to google. I then went into see any addons were added to my browser, and found a few that were not there before. One of them was 'hot revenue browser' or something like that.

I then re-booted my computer.

I then figured I had a problem as the ads were still playing. I ran Malwarebytes, and found there were some problems, so I fixed all those errors. Log here -

Hi, I have an HP Pavillion DV6 3216 US entertainment notebook which does not currently have functioning audio. I have no audio coming through the built in speakers (I've tried fiddling with the playback device options/properties/testing the device to no avail) but do have audio when I plug a pair of headphones into the audio jack. I've tried updating my audio drivers and installing the latest through HP's website, but that didn't help. When I go to the system manager and view the properties --> details of Headphones and Speakers (IDT High Definition Audio) it says that no driver files are required or have been loaded for this device. However, when I open up the IDT sound panel click on the independent headphones setup and press test I get audio to play through the speakers for a few seconds until the test ends. I'd appreciate any suggestions to fix this, thank you in advance!

A:Audio only playing through headphones

A little more obsessive searching about on the internet led me to an HP forum post by lgrangea while I was initially skeptical about fixing my laptop with a toothpick (or in my case a floss n toss) where the magic of software had failed me but this wisdom worked! I claim no credit for just spreading the good word to the many people of the world!

"I FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR THIS!

After being awake yesterday to 4h00 AM trying to reinstall drivers etc, I found this problem to be a hardware issue (SOLVABLE). I noticed a lot of laptops using IDT sound chips have this issue (I have a HP 8540p).

Basically something in the headphone jack is bent/twisted, making the PC think there's a jack connected. Just open the IDT control panel and get a toothpick. Gently poke inside the headphone jack picking the metal contacts. I did this for maybe 30 seconds until I noticed the IDT audio manager changed the headphones state to unconnected, and now I have speakers working!

Hope this helps, feel free to copy/paste this around forums, has a lot of people with Dells are complaining also."

Tried a few things from other sites, nothing worked, now I'm hoping someone will be awesome enough to help me out.

I just get random commercials and snippets of audio playing and it will take over my soundcard so no other device can use it.

I killed every process I could in task manager and it was still going.

I don't know what other detail to give except I'm on Windows 7.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
 rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/
After the tool has finished running, a text file named Rkill.txt should be located on the desktop. Please copy and paste the contents into your next reply.

Hi,

Please do the following:

Download ComboFix from either of these locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Welcome to the BleepingComputer Forums. Since it has been a few days since you scanned your computer with HijackThis, we will need a new HijackThis log. If you have not already downloaded Random's System Information Tool (RSIT), please download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) by random/random which includes a HijackThis log and save it to your desktop. If you have RSIT already on your computer, please run it again. Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT. Click Continue at the disclaimer screen. Please post the contents of log.txt. Thank you for your patience. Please see Preparation Guide for use before posting about your potential Malware problem. If you have already posted this log at another forum or if you decide to seek help at another forum, please let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and taking the time of two volunteer helpers means that someone else may not be helped. Please post your HijackThis log as a reply to this thread and not as an attachment. I am always leery of opening attachments so I always request that HijackThis logs are to be posted as a reply to the thread. I do not think that you are attaching anything scary but others may do so. While we are working on your HijackThis log, please: Reply to this thread; do not start another! hey guys, im running on a toshiba laptop right now that uses windows xp. I checked the sound properties, and nothing is on mute. I tested the audio using dxdiag and everything works fine. I reinstalled the audio drivers but nothign is fixing it.

The main problem is that when i click on an mp3 that was workin 2 days ago, I get no audio. All my mp3s from my collection do not work. However, my sound card is working because it plays the login sound and others. Any suggestions?? im currently running an avast scan and ad-aware scan. if i cant resolve the issues soon im gonna just clean format and start from scratch.

Hello,
Whenever I'm connected to the internet, at random times, audio ads play in the background, even when no browser is open. Ive searched the internet for solutions, and it seems that those who got the problem resolved posted in a forum like such. I have an idea as to what the problem is, but no idea how to solve it. If someone can walk me through this slowly, it would be much appreciated!

A:Audio Ads playing in background

Please run the following:

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit and save it to your desktop.
Be sure to print out and follow the instructions provided on that same page for performing a scan.
Caution: This is a beta version so also read the disclaimer and back up all your data before using.
When the scan completes, click on the Cleanup button to remove any threats found and reboot the computer if prompted to do so.
Perform another scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit to verify that no threats remain. If they do, then click Cleanup once more and repeat the process.
If there are problems with Internet access, Windows Update, Windows Firewall or other system issues, run the fixdamage tool located in the folder Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit was run from and reboot your computer.
Two files (mbar-log-YYYY-MM-DD, system-log.txt) will be created and saved within that same folder.
Copy and paste the contents of these two log files in your next reply.
Note: Further documentation can be found in the ReadMe.rtf file which is located in the Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit folder.

Hi folks...and hope you can help

I'm running Windows 7, 64 Bit

I've read a number of threads here on the subject, and tried a number of programs to clear this up, but no luck as of yet.  I also believe I have the "Proxy 127.0.0.1".  Using Admin rights I've tried to change the DWord for "ProxyEnable" to "0", and delete "ProxyServer", which was set to "http=127.0.0.1:8877;https=127.0.0.1:8877", but it keeps coming back.

I've downloaded the current versions, and virus databases of:
- Malwarebytes
- HitmanPro_x64
- SpyHunter
- tdsskiller
- ESET
- Adwcleaner 5.019

I've also downloaded the below files based on what i've read here, run them, and saved the text file:
- ESET
- Rkill
- Junkware Removal
- Adwcleaner

In may cases I have to run "RKill" again to launch the program.  Prior to realizing what RKill was, I was running in SAFE MODE.

Below are the FRST text files.  I sure hope someone can help

Recently, I've been hearing audio ads on my computer. I checked the application tab under task manager and saw one instance of I.E. 11 running which was showing an ad website which would change to another such site and so on and so on. What is disturbing is that I did not have I.E. open. I rarely use it. When I right click on the task and select "go to process" nothing happens. I am running windows 7 and normally I would think this is a virus. I ran AVG and S&D spybot and turned up negative results. however with MS Intrusively pushing win 10 ads via KB3035583. I'm beginning to think MS is responsible for this also. I had to completely uninstall IE 11 and that put a stop to it. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have an insight into this? If it's MS, then problem solved, If a virus- I need help with this.

Thanks

Problem-
My laptop (Averatec 3250 Series) refuses to play dvd audio. I thought it was a device problem, but it will play CD audio (and all other sounds). I've tried multiple dvds (in multiple players), and updating the drivers. I've looked through all of the obvious sound options (system volumes, etc.) and I still can't seem to find the problem.

My sound card is a VIA AC97 Enchanced Audio Controller.

A:Laptop won't playing DVD audio.

Are you talking about "Audio" DVD's or are you talking about audio from a DVD movie?

I've been reading about some of the new digital boxes like WDTV, but none of them seem to be geared towards audio. What's the best setup for playing my mp3 collection through a home audio system? I'd love to be able to do it through a portable drive instead of my mp3 player, but I also would like playlists. And if I have to do it through a mp3 player, is the audio output a match for the audio system?

Day before yesterday i formatted my pc and installed a new 1Gb DDR1 Ram after that whenever a audio is playing it is lagging/cutting in between. I even removed the new ram and installed the old 512Mb ram but still the same problem, and i was using Windows xp professional with sp3 after that i even installed vista with sp2 but still the same problem, i updated my audio drivers, i even downloaded the latest drivers from realtek website, but no use. And yeah when i play any video on internet the video is lagging in seconds also the sound, but when i am playing a movie file on pc using vlc player the video is not lagging only the sound is lagging. aswell when i am surfing the internet and the audio is playing it is lagging very much as i surf or open any web page or elles if there are flash ads on that website it is lagging.

Can someone tell me is this a problem because of installing a new ram, or what elles?

When I play a DVD using InterVideo WinDVD the volume level fluctuates. This only happens when playing a DVD, the volume is consistent when playing a CD.
This leads me to believe the problem is with the InterVideo WinDVD player.
I have looked for driver updates, but none available. I tried to use both Real Player, and Window Media Player. When I try to use these two players, I get a pop-up warning that says:
(DVD is not enabled for this player. Click (ok) to use InterVideo WinDVD player for playback.)
I tried to make the fore mentioned players as the default players, but I don't seem to be able to do that. It's like InterVideo is somehow blocking a change.
InterVideo came with my laptop so I don't want to uninstall it, it does not appear they offer a free version, but I would like to disable it and try another player to see if that eliminates my audio issues. The DVD's play just fine on other equipment.
Any thoughts.

Hello all,

I run Windows XP Pro SP 3. I have WMP installed. I recently had a new 160GB hard drive i and a combination CD/DV burner player installed. Nero 7 essentials is also installed.

Since this developement. when I attempt to play a DVD in WMP 11 there is no sound or audio. I have checked whether the correct speakers have been sellected ie. stereo speakers and all other requirements are correct. There are no MPEG 2 codecs installed on my system. I had that checked as well and none are installed. I am minded that I may require MPEG 2 codec or an AC3 filter. I don't know about these things so my questions are:-

1. How do I download and install the MPEG 2 codec?
2. How do I download and install the AC3 Filter?
3. Where can I find them?
4. What are their functions?

I am grateful for any answers to the above questions and/or your comments and suggestions with a view to solving the problem.

Please note that I am new to all of this and layman's language will be appreciated.

Thanking you in advance for your kind consideration.

Bassy2

A:No Audio in WMP 11 When Playing DVWs

Hi there! Here is the AC3 Filter download page. I use the filter as well and it works well! AC3Filter is a high quality free audio decoder and processor filter. It allows media players to playback movies with AC3 and DTS audio tracks. Also it can process any audio track, much of processing options allows to adjust the sound in almost any way. Here is Stinky's MPEG-2 Codec which allow you to play MP2 audio files that are written in to a video! The audio files are written in to the tracks because of the different compressing techniques used in technology. In other words, these codecs are used to help play the audio that is written in to the videos.

My computer has been attacked by many different kinds of virus these few days, like trojans, FBI malware. I have cleared all of those by using my antivirus software except the audio ads playing in background. I have been following the instructions of the post in this link: http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/890285-audio-ads-playing-background.html

I disabled all the antivirus software realtime protection and ran the ComboFix already, but I couldn't find the combofix report. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks
