Catalyst Control Center doesn't work after I installed the wrong driver

Q: Catalyst Control Center doesn't work after I installed the wrong driver

Hi, I had some issues with a HDD around this time last year, so I replaced it with a new western digital HDD. I wasn't able to back anything up, so I cloned it instead.

turns out I installed the incorrect driver for my video card and suffered from the BSOD syndrome....

well, I finally got that sorted out, ( I think ) and now I am trying relentlessly to get catalyst pro control center to work properly. Ive read numerous places online that involves editing the Assembly folder, but I have no such keys in there.

when I try and run CCC, it tells me that I am unable to run as I wouldn't be able to change any settings within the app basically. Ive tried uninstalling, installing. trying ATI opposed to AMD- to no anvil.

I know for a fact that I had CCC on this pc, but it almost seems impossible to get up and running, I am very desperate to get this up and running.

thanx in advance

I would like to add a TV/monitor to my system. I have the ATI All In Wonder AIWH3650 graphics card which is supposed to support multiple monitors. I looked this up on the web and found that you need to have Catalyst Control Center installed. Well, it appears on my Start menu but when I click on it nothing happens. Does this mean it is not installed? My goal is to go from S-video out to the TV or other video device. I've done this already with an earlier computer and it works fine. The other computer also has an ATI card and in Display Properties under Advanced it has a Displays tab where you can enable multiple monitors including TVs. The card on that computer is a Radeon 7500.

A:Is Catalyst Control Center installed?

If you look in the Displays tab (with both devices connected) do you see a second monitor showing? You shouldn't need to have the ATI Catalyst Control Center, but if you do, just go to the website, download it, and install it. Give that a try.

I had done a clean install of Windows 10 and was just finishing the tweaking. I like Windows 10.

Yesterday, I had uninstalled AMD CCC and it's driver, downloaded the latest CCC software package, and just installed the drivers. I did not want CCC. All was well yesterday.

Today, I noticed an AMD folder on my C: \root (I had deleted this yesterday after the driver install). I then checked my Start menu and there was CCC. I clicked on it and it loaded. Windows Update history shows it was re-installed this morning...... I had just spent a half hour going through a clean uninstall and then just a driver install. All for naught, as it is now back.

I have lost control of my system. I cannot do a custom installation of a software driver package anymore? As if that wasn't bad enough, the "Programs and Features" program list entry for CCC is not even valid. No uninstall/change ability.

If I were insane and repeated yesterday, I would have to again use the AMD Clean Uninstall Utility to uninstall CCC. No use, as Windows will just install the whole package again.

Is this a known issue for other driver packages/programs too? We just do not have a choice of what gets installed on our system anymore, even if it isn't really a Microsoft Windows Update. Thanks for any replies!

A:Windows Update INSTALLED!!! AMD Catalyst Control Center on it's own.

Did you turn off driver and manufacturer app installation in Windows 10? If you didn't, then Windows 10 is doing exactly what it is designed to do - install the latest hardware drivers and hardware associated apps that are provided to Microsoft by the hardware manufacturer.

Hi
Thanks for reading my post. My problem is this:
I get a warning on startup that says "catalyst control center not supported by driver .... ".
I'm running Vista 32 bit on an Acer laptop that has "up to 1408 mb ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics Hypermemory".

I've tried to download and reinstall the driver but the Radeon HD 3200 never appears in the selection menu.

I am having trouble with my computer. A message pops up that Catalyst control center: host application has stopped working. And my PC will inform me when it is working. So I try to restart but it says that the host application is preventing the computer from restarting even though I know that it is not turned on. The problem is that it slows down my computer and even after I think I have solved it it goes back to not working. The problem has caused me to not being able to use the internet. Also on occasion, when attempting to restart or shut down it took longer than 10 hours (I did not wait for it to complete I then manually shut it down).
i have tried resetting it to a date where my computer functioned fine several times but it only solves the problem for a short period.
my specifications
Hp envy m6
windows 8.1
intel core i5
amd Radeon HD
my driver is a acpi x64

I suggest you find exact model of that "amd Radeon HD" And download last version of driver for that particular GPU. Download Drivers that uninstall old driver (it will offer it when starting driver installation) and install it.

Greetings.

I updated my AMD Catalyst Control Center driver from 13.9 to 14.4. I have a PowerColor Radeon HD 7850 video graphics card. I was wondering if this is a stable driver or should I just stick to the 13.9.

I would get the occasional event 4101 where in my display drivers would stop responding and would recover. Only happens when I'm playing DC Universe Online in windowed mode or even in full screen mode.

I hope the description is clear though. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

A:Is AMD Catalyst Control Center 14.4 a stable driver for Radeon HD 7850

Hi, Welcome to Seven forums.

I am using CCC 14.6 Beta for my 6870 HD and till now got no issues. Infact, gaming performance has never been better.

Make sure you update the drivers properly for your card as well. Always uninstall the old drivers first. Download "Driver Sweeper". This small program removes the bits and peaces of your old drivers. Now you can install the new drivers fresh. Sometimes, installing new drivers over the new ones can cause such crashes.

When I got this laptop I had Catalyst Control Center when I right clicked the desktop, but when I installed a new driver it changed to AMD VISION Control Center. I didn't really notice anything different other than that.

Is it suppose to change like that, did I download the wrong one or have the wrong one in the start? I did the automatic scan and manually put the information in but they gave the same results.

A:AMD VISION Control Center / Catalyst Control Center = Same Thing?

That's their new name for CCC. They probably had to change it because CCC was associated with ATI.

Hi everyone, I keep getting a message (see screenshot) about a control driver but I have the latest and device manager says I have the latest as well .

It's a Asmedia control driver , I even downloaded a program called "Hardware Identify " one of Tweaking.coms new programs and it says all drivers are A OK .

Any ideas

Thanks

A:(Action center) Install your USB control driver but it is installed.

It might be a problem with Asmedia. I have the same issue now and then about my USB drivers, and I have an Asmedia USB controller, too. All of my drivers are fine, as well, and if I try to install the drivers it says they are already there.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. Just ignore it.

GPU driver updated succcessfully but the ATI CCC was without 3D options and others etc. Left with Display Center and Power Supply option. Nth else was there... did the uninstalling from the ATI CCC installer but was not successful. "No Files were detected for the removal"

Did the Control Panel thing and was not successful. Click on Uninstall/Change mouse showed loading icon after that nth happens, Run CCleaner in safe mode and still the same issue. Unable to remove it with CCleaner nor CTRL Panel nor CCC installer. Did try to manually delete files and folders for ATI Technologies on C:Programs Filex86/ATI Technologies. CCC got installed along with your nVidia video driver, but it doesn't have to be running as a startup.
If you wish, you can reinstall it. If not, you can simply disable it as a startup and the error shouldn't be bothering you anymore.

However, since your computer got infected, I suggest, you create new topic in "Am I Infected?" forum, since using system restore will NOT remove any infection.

I have a new Toshiba that came preloaded with a lot of stuff that I will never use.

The Catalyst Control Center is one of them. I tried uninstalling it using the built in uninstall program and during the uninstall it apperared that my pc went into safe mode without a restart. Is that possible?

After the uninstall and the required reboot it still looked like I was in safe mode-enlarged icons and kind of fuzzy. I probably should have just shutdown and restarted but did a system restore and everything came back to normal.

Just wondering if I should try again with a shutdown and restart after uninstall as I can't see me ever using this program.

From what I can understand it gives me a greater control of the graphics end of my pc.

A:Catalyst Control Center

Uninstalling the Catalyst Control Center probably uninstalled the video drivers. If the uninstall doesn't have an options section to allow you to specify which components to uninstall (Usually given a choice of Express or Custom (Un)Install), you'll need to re-install just the video drivers after uninstalling the Catalyst Control Center. If the Toshiba web site doesn't have a download for just the drivers without the Catalyst Control Center, you should be able to get the driver from the ATI web site.

ATI Catalyst 10.2 is the most current version listed for the ATI Radeon 9550.

If I remember correctly though, version 6.5 is the highest version that will install for Windows XP and for that video card.

You also need to have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or newer installed in order to install ATI drivers.

Hi,

Have a new HP PC with a Radeon HD 4650 Graphics card.
64 Bit OS, MS Home Premium.
6 GB memory.
Not sure what kind of on board memory my Radeon Card came with

Had all sorts of error msg's concerning Windows Explorer needing to shut down, with Windows7 re-fixing itself, and then working for another hour or so, when the error msg's would start again.

The only thing I could correlate it with was my attempts to download the ATI/AMD
Catalyst Control Center. I could not do the install, as it would not install.
Some of it may have, though ?

And, like most stories like this, I probably changed other things also in trying to find the cause of the Windows Explorer needing to shut down messages, so am not 100% sure it was due to the ATI Catalyst Control Center or not.

But, I did remove every trace of it I could find, and things seem to be happy now.

Still, I would like to use it.

Was wondering about any experiences you folks have had with the ATI Catalyst Control Center ? Works for you, problems installing or using, caveats, experiences, etc. ?

Thanks, and Happy Holidays,
Bob

Looking for some help as i'm generally stuck with this issue.

Yesterday night my computer crashed, on start-up it could not load past the windows logo.
I started it in safe-mode and tried a previous system restore to no avail.

I then read to uninstall my Intel (R) HD Graphics Family should solve the issue which it did until I restarted my laptop and found myself stuck back at the windows logo.

I did the same thing through safe mode and updated my graphic card drivers
Intel (R) HD Graphics Family ----------------> Intel (R) HD Graphics 3000

Radeon (TM) HD 7690M XT -------------------> ???????????????

The Radeon graphics card has since reverted itself to its original driver (8.882.2.3000)
this is the driver status (Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43))

Also my AMD Catalyst Control Center will not start, and have no idea how to get it working.

As on now my laptop will boot all fine, so no need for safe mode, but I have no idea where to go from here to fix my issue! Any help will be greatly appreciated as I've been causing me the largest headache the last 24 hours

Radeon (TM) HD 7690M XT -------------------> ???????????????

Hi folks,

I've downloaded and installed ATI Catalyst Control Center from several different sources, several times over, and every time I've gotten the same error pertaining to "CLI.exe" and something else which I do not recall... I kind of want ATI Catalyst because I'd like finer control over my video card... I guess my question is why won't it (Catalyst Control Center) install correctly, when the video card driver does?

Thanks,

hey all. i have just installed the catalyst control center 12-2 after downloading from amd site. i have a mobility radeon hd4250 and radeon hd 5650 on my laptop. the problem is after installation went successfully(as said by installer) i ran ccc and it said that:
"no amd graphics driver is installed, or the amd driver is not fuctionning properly. please reinstall the amd driver appropriate for your amd hardware"
i have windows 7 64 bit with amd cpu
i look in device manager and find 2 display adapters as usual:
"AMD M880G with ATI mobility radeon hd 4250"
"ati mobility radeon hd 5650"
what should i do to get ccc running correctly? i already restarted after install

I would say uninstall drivers and rollback to the version before that was working fine until amd releases another new set of drivers that are more stable.

i went to ATI's site, went to Catalyst Control Centre, select my OS (windows vista) then the system bit (32 bit) then my card type (integrated/motherboard) and finally the name of my graphics card (Radeon Xpress 200m).

i select to install drivers and the control centre. Hello

I downloaded a driver for my Radeon HD 4800 on my 64 bit Win7 Optiplex 745 computer to run a program. after downloading it, the program ran slowly, so I decided to get the CCC and overdrive my graphics card. I don't know what the CCC did, (I was unsuccesful at overdriving) but now my computer does a heat-shutdown, where the screen turns black or a pattern of colors, and becomes unresponsive. it has nothing to do with overheating, and even though I did a system restore for getting rid of the CCC because it would die berfore I couldn uninstall didn't help.

So now, I have an over-sensitive Graphics card, and a broken computer. Any help would be nice.

A:Catalyst Control Center Sabotage

Did you use the auto-tune function? At best it's useless, at worst it's dangerous. I had a play with it and it and pushed my core GPU clock from to 625mhz to 755mhz which it considered 'safe'

Your best bet would be to boot into safe mode, uninstall the drivers from within device manager and then run driversweeper to clean all ATI entries/drivers. Driversweeper must be 'run as admin'

Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Reboot normally and then re-install the Catalyst 9.6 drivers.

Well, I'm a very basic computer user who accidentally removed ATI Catalyst Control Center from my Windows Vista. I think I manage to reinstall it but when I turned the computer on again the screen looked different. The letters are smaller, everything on the screen is more "grainy" and the whole screen seems more strechted than before. It's not so "eye-friendly" to look at anyomre. I've tried changing some things on the control panel but I'm not quite sure if this is something I should change on the computer itself or in the ATI program. I have a basic computer, on the ATI it says I have a "basic VGA-screencard" and then on "set desktop area to" it says 1024 x 768. I don't know if this has anything to do with my problem. Can anyone help me - does anybody understand my problem? Do I need to reinstall something online or is it just some simple maneuver I don't know about? I hope someone can help a computer-rookie like me!

A:Problem with ATI Catalyst Control Center

I would have to guess that it says standard vga adapter.
That means the video card driver is not installed.
You may have only reinstalled catalyst and not the driver,
or you have the wrong driver for your card.
You can get the proper driver and control center here...
Uninstall the old one before installing.

Hi folks...

Since moving to Win-7 I've only been using the ATI graphics driver.

My video card is a lowly ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT, nothing fancy but suits my needs perfectly well. I don't play games on this PC, it functions as a multi-track audio recorder + Audio mastering and CD/DVD burner.

Do I have anything to gain using the CCC?
I've been sticking with a single monitor while testing Win-7 but would like to add my second monitor, I'm presuming CCC would be required to configure the second monitor.

Catalyst Control Center has for a while been crashing on startup and will 99% of the time crash when any full screen video display is turned on. This more or less started to happen randomly, according to what my wife can recall. She's better than your average person technically, but would not likely know what caused the crashing to happen. I have a feeling that maybe a Windows Update of some sort started the issue, but it's hard to tell. I went to ATI's website to get video card driver updates as well as a CCC software update. That did not resolve the issue. From what I recall she's running Vista Home Basic (I'll check on that) on a Gateway laptop. She only has one GB of RAM, which I plan to upgrade. I'm not sure of the model of Gateway, so I'll try to get that, the video card model and confirm the version of Vista as well.

Any thoughts on what may be causing this? This would be using Firefox 3.0.1, not in IE.

Hi

I am using a Dell Studio 1555 which came with Vista x86, but I have upgraded it to have a Windows 7 Ultimate x86.

Now, I have been using it for last 8 months, which've been great. My studio has an inbuilt mobility ATI Radeon 4570 graphics processor card with 512MB memory. Now all video operations function fine. However I WANT TO INCREASE THE DIGITAL VIBRANCE OF MY LAPTOP SCREEN. Cannot do that without opening some utility like - Catalyst Control center available by AMD.

I noticed it got installed with the latest drivers I got from amd.com, but the catalyst control center doesn't open. I tried following icons from Programs menu

- CCC Wizard
- CCC
- Restart Runtime

Hi there, today i was trying to configure a monitor to work with both my xbox and my pc, i essentially got it working, changed over to my pc and started configuring catalyst control center, i was changing display settings and i think i ticked "if display is not detected switch to tv input"(or something along those lines), i tried switching cables for the computer, it did not work so i plugged back in and the display was bugged. I restarted the machine and it started up as normal until it got to the user profile choice ( I'm on Vista). The screen never came up and just stayed black, my monitor was still detecting an input though. I went into safe mode to see if i could change the setting but the drivers don't start up because it is in safe mode so i cannot start up ccc.exe. So i am stuck in safe mode, is there anyway to edit the setting for ccc.exe?

So, I've searched Google for hours and hours for a solution, tried everything people suggested but none of them worked for me, so I activated Super Geek Mode and went all out to uncover the mystery by myself, fortunately enough I did and thought I would share it with you guys in case somebody needs it.

Just fallow the steps bellow and you'll most likely get your CCC working again:

Step 1:
Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall CCC and everything else with the provided ATI Catalyst Install Manager.

Step 2:
Reboot in Safe Mode.

Step 3:
Run Driver Sweeper and select the AMD box, Analyze, then Clean, make sure you have all the boxes checked.

Step 4:
Reboot again and Reinstall Catalyst Software Suite, ensure that it's the latest version, after the installation's been completed reboot once again.

Step 5:
Go to Start > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on and off, check Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and finally, restart Windows for the last time.

Done!!

Hello,
I removed my old ATI Catalyst control center to install the new version (7.9).
I am using Windows Vista Ultimate, and have a Radeon HD 2600 on a Toshiba duel core computer.

I downloaded the newest ATI CCC, the file is 7-9_vista32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_52447.exe.
I have extracted it, and the installer will pop up. However it won't install the control center.
It will only install the Catalyst Install Manager. I tried installing with the indivdual device drivers and control center separately, with the same result.

When I try to install and choose the "custom" option, it presents a list of "component selection". The only things in the list are:
ATI Catalyst Install Manager
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
Free Games Offer, Desktop Shortcut
Catalyst Registration
Free Games Offer, STEAM
There is no "Catalyst Control Center" option listed. I can't get the control center or the device drivers to install.
This is driving me insane, any help?

Thanks

Catalyst Control Center affects more than just games, but you do not need CCC installed. You can just use the display driver.

Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM

* Select Display Driver Only

To uninstall CCC (and the video driver) go to add/remove programs and uninstall "ATI Catalyst Install manger".

Once removed (it may require a reboot) simply install the display drivers only.

Yesterday I reinstalled Windows 7 on my notebook PC. I had to use a Microsoft installation disk because unfortunately, serious errors resulted after I installed from the HP recovery program. Consequently the HP drivers that were installed automatically with the recovery program weren't installed on my system. I had to install several of them from the HP support site. I got everything to work except for the Touch volume control, or the Volume Scroll Zone as referred to by HP in the service guide. This is the device located just above the keyboard that increases or decreases speaker volume when you drag you finger on it. I installed the Quick Launch button driver but that only applied to the mouse and pointer touchpad. I looked at the devices listed in my startup configuration. I saw the synaptics pointing device and the HP quick launch buttons listed. So is the IDT PC audio driver.  What am I missing? Where I can I find it to activate the touch volume control?

Well the CCC or Catalyst Control Center is your graphics card control and adjustment software. So the name isn't exactly right unless that's been changed or its only a small module of the CCC.
Is there anything in the tray that has a ATI symbol or if you right click on the desktop do you see a Catalyst Control Center line in the context menu or in the Start/Programs list?

If you find it in one of those places you can see if it will start or if you get some more error messages.

When I wanted to install 14.9. there was no other option to install but just AMD Catalyst Install Manager.
I decided to install 14.4. version back, but this time in 14.4. version were no other options than AMD Catalyst Install Manager aswell.
I tried everything! I unistalled completly AMD drivers, completly unistalled Intel drivers, did several times everything, and because nothing worked, I reinstalled windows thinking this has to solve all problems.
But nothing was solved. I still have problems AMD ATI driver (no matter which version) shows me just AMD Catalyst Install Manager option to install.

Please provide more specs about your system. What graphics card, what version of Catalyst, what computer, etc.?

Anyway, I'd follow this 3-step recipe:

(1) uninstall CCC using Control Panel -> uninstall programs -> select AMD Catalyst Install Manager, right-click and select "change". Wait for the dialog to initialize, select NEXT to proceed. You should then get a window from Catalyst Install Manager with the "uninstall manager" radio button pre-selected.

Push NEXT, and on the next window select CUSTOM and push NEXT to get the Customized Uninstall window. You'll then get a new window with the currently installed features of Catalyst (which you selected or defaulted when you last installed Catalyst driver package), all currently un-checked. Select the "AMD Catalyst Control Center" box and push NEXT.

Follow the rest of the dialog process, and re-boot.

(2) When you come up from re-boot, you should no longer have Catalyst Control Center installed.

Then follow the steps enumerated in this post of the "Catalyst Control Center will not open/install" thread in this forum, to clean anything residual from the Registry and folders on C.

(3) Finally, (and this is the final step in the sequence described in (2) above), re-install Catalyst Control Center from the folder in which you last installed the driver package, going down into the expanded folders and run SETUP.EXE. Take the "custom" install approach, and when present... Read more

Hi I tried to set up my windows 7 but it said that my ATI catalyst control center is incompatible with windows 7. what should i do? Also i cant get rid of it because it is used for my graphics card.

A:Cant install windows 7 due to catalyst control center??

Uninstall your current video driver and the catalyst control center. 7 very likely has a built in driver for your video card anyway. Also, for what it's worth, the catalyst control center is an optional component - you don't need to have it installed.

Wipe your PC, do a clean install and then install Catalyst. Why do you need to remove it?

Hi, as the title states, I can't install CCC to my ASUS AH3650 Graphics Card (AGP). Downloaded the drivers from ASUS's home page and everything installs correctly except CCC. I get an error that only tells me that it failed the installation of this component. Then it tells me to restart my computer. When I do, the drivers and other apps installed with them work properly. Trying to install only CCC also fails. When I uninstalled everything ATI related it managed to install it once but it still wasn't working. Task manager shows the CCC.exe and MOM.exe working for a couple of seconds and then they just close. I even tried installing drivers from ATI homepage but the same thing happens... Is there any way to make it work?

computer specs:
Intel D845PESV Desktop Board
Intel Pentium 4 HT 2,8GHz
Asus AH3650 (captain obvious...) 512mb
768mb DDRAM
Windows XP Professional

Hey, so trying to play need for speed, the game had black corners around it, it wasn't in full screen, so i decided to go to CCC and tried messing around with it's settings perhaps i could get the Full screen back and noticed that i had so many options/settings missing in it, like it wasn't as same as it was in windows 7, below is screen shots of it and my driver, and if anyone experienced that before and got a solution, please pass it to me, i also tried uninstalling it and the AMD RADEON 6300M Driver and cleaning the AMD reg files and re-installing it but nothing seems to work.

A:Catalyst Control Center missing options

Bean in the same boat with a 3850 video card, although on a desktop. Had to find "amd_catalyst_12.6_legacy_win8" drivers and those were to only ones with which CCC would work with it's full options. I gather you have a laptop there, see if the its manufacturer hase something more compatible. For your information, I too have to run Need for Speed in a window with black frame but don't think CCC has anything to set for this case. Resolution and screen refresh on the NfS is just to low.

Everytime I turn on mny laptop, the following message appears:

The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your ATI graphics driver, or enable your ATI adapter using the Displays Manager.

I have an ATI Radeon HD 3470 Graphics Card 256MB.

I've tried uninstalling the driver on Device Manager and then detecting it again but the same error still pops up when I restart. Not sure how the enabling of the ATI adapter works on Displays Manager, help please?

Guys Catalyst Control Center is nowhere to be found in my PC

Please tell me where is the CCC executable so that I can run it manually.

I just want to know the folder in which it is .Please help.

A:How to find Catalyst Control Center manually?

There is actually a known problem where you install CCC and it doesn't run right.
You may want to look at this and see if you have the policy mentioned showing up. If it does you'll probably need to follow the other instructions there to get it to properly install for you.

There's actually two ways to try and go about this, I'll leave them both for you.

Just wanted to give folks a "heads-up" on a problem I've encountered with older Catalyst Center and Windows 7. Installed an older version of the suite (v6.1) because that's the latest my XP-era video card would support.

Got a popup after that complaining about compatibility and shutdown resulted in BSOD.

OK, so went into Control Panel and unistalled CCC. Still get the BSOD.

Went into Control Panel again and tried to uninstall the remaining ATI stuff. Nothing happens.

OK, tried to correct with System Restore. Claims it can't do that due to filesystem errors. Rebooted ran chkdsk, fixed the errors. Restarted, tried again -- same refusal. Same BSOD on shutdown.

Looks like the only "fix" is a complete reinstall. <Sigh>

So ... if you have an older version of ATI drivers you need to install, don't install the CCC. Instead, just expand the drivers and install them separately.

Course, that might faile, too. Haven't done the complete reinstall, followed by the driver reinstall, to find out yet.

A:ATI Catalyst Control Center crashes Windows 7

Hello Mark,

If you uninstall the driver, do you still get a BSOD? If you remove the CCC, you might leave the display driver itself installed, and that might still cause the BSOD. Also, I'd recommend you to try some custom drivers, such as Omega. These might fix the problems.

Good luck!

Several weeks ago I got a 7970 for the build I'm working on, for the first week or two in Catalyst Control options I had the settings to change Aliasing etc, however now everything is gone, it's as if I'm using a non-recognized card with the CC Center still installed.

I am updated to all of the latest drivers, I tried re-installing from the disc along with restoring the factory settings in CCC, it fixed it for about 5 minutes, but it went back to normal.

Check attachments for a picture of the problem.

Also, I haven't overclocked anything, I don't overclock and have no intention to do so.

A:Catalyst Control Center - Sapphire 7970

Uninstall CCC via Windows Control Panel then download & install the Catalyst Software Suite (that's the drivers & CCC combined in the same package) for your Sapphire 7970 from the Sapphire Support Download Centre here: http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/downloads/download_index.aspx?psn=0006&lid=1

I had to recently refresh Windows 8.1 so I had to go re-download AMD Catalyst Control Center. When I did this, I opened it up and there is only around two category settings which are "Performance" and "Power" and this is with "Advance settings" turned on. I use to have around 7 categories of settings to mess around with. If I recall, one was called "VGA Display Settings" and it let me position my screen, which I direly need.

Where did all the other settings go?

A:AMD Catalyst Control Center does not show settings?

I encountered the same problem with Windows 8 when I made the "mistake" of installing AMD CCC using the standard approach -- by running the installer. What I found that worked was using Device Manager to reinstall the drivers and pointing it at the directory on C:\AMD\Support\<downloaded-file-name\Packages\Drivers\Display\W8_INF\

When I installed that way, I had the full set of options previously available in Win7.

I'm using Win 7 64 bit on a Dell XPS 8300 with an AMD Radeon X6700 graphics card. At the start of my problem the Catalyst Control Center (CCC) appeared on my all programs list in Start with a red x. The app would not start, no error message(s). I went to Control Panel and the uninstall/repair for the CCC. It ran and said repair successful. However, the CCC would not open. I went to the AMD site and it had a way to check whether I had the latest driver and I do. I searched on the web for solutions and tried the one that talks about public key tokens. When I followed the instructions in safe mode (by the way I can no longer activate safe mode with the F8 key since this mess began, I use MSCONFIG.EXE, Boot Tab) I checked for the public key tokens identified in the solution and did not find them.

Using the above mentioned solution involved uninstalling CCC and I did this after going to the AMD site and downloading the version for Win 7 64 bit so I could reinstall. When I reinstalled there was no listing in the Start all programs list for CCC. I went to the directory for ATI and tried several setup.exe files to no avail. One did bring up an install/uninstall application that I tried and told me I had no components of CCC on my system. So I went to Control Panel uninstall again and tried to uninstall CCC. It would not work. I get the message: The application failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect. Use sxstrace.exe for more details. I ... Read more

Hello jblaker. Welcome to Seven Forums. Could you tell us when this problem started to occur? If so, have you tried restoring the system to a time before the problem started to occur?
Also, we don't recommend "cleaning the registry" here. It can, very ofter, do more harm than good.

Description of problem: Ati Catalyst Control Center will not open or install in windows 7.

Resolution follows:
Preparation:
Note - As with anything that makes changes to your system it is suggested you create a restore point before proceeding. System Restore Point - Create
Before beginning:
First thing we are going to do is download the latest amd/ati driver and catalyst package and save it to your desktop for easy access later. http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx the link provided there will direct you to the proper download for your hardware.

Once this is done
Remove your ATI software normally through programs and features in the Control Panel using the Catalyst Install Manager (CIM). (Also called AMD Catalyst Install Manager)

Reboot the system in Safe Mode (F8) and do the following:

1 - Delete all ATI folders in C:\programs files and C:\programs files (x86) as well as the temp ati folder usually located at c:\ati

2 - Go to C:\Windows\assembly and sort by "Public Key Token". Locate the following Public Key Token "90ba9c70f846762e" Usually there are only two entries. However, there can be many just be careful here we are only deleting/uninstalling entries tagged with the "90ba9c70f846762e" token. (if deletion will not work right click and uninstall)

3 - deleting these policies in safe mode may result in a permissions error. The entries will only show up in systems affected by this issue.

A:Fix - Catalyst Control Center - CCC - will not open/install

Funny you should post this now. I was trying to help someone earlier who had issues with CCC. Post here.... CCC doesnt work anymore

Anyway we couldn't get solved here so I referred him to rage3d. I'll link to this post in his thread. Maybe your info can help him should he return.

BTW I just looked for that token in the location specified and noticed I don't have it. On the other hand I have/had no issues with CCC. Not sure what to make of it though. Maybe it's put there when there's an issue??? Just FYI.

Thanks
