My hp touchsmart 300 1025 is shutting down unexpectadly. I have had it for a little over a year (out of warranty) and it just started to shut down after a few minutes of use. Not sure if it is an overheating problem or a power supply issue? Anybody with same problem? Suggestions welcome!
Hello, i have a HP TouchSmart computer that i need to reformat badly. I am wondering if reformatting it with any regular vista CD key will lose such features as the touchscreen, wireless mouse & keyboard, built in webcam.
The Original owner of the computer claims it came with its own Vista CD key that he lost.
If the HP restore partition is in good condition (not damaged or malware-ridden), you can perform a re-write of the factory-original hard-disk-image by tapping the F11 as your HP is first powered on, then following the prompts as shown (step-by-step, with screenshots) in the following instructions at the HP support website --- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...=3752240#N1066
Note that you'd first want to move any data that you wish to save off to removable or external media before you run a return to factory original.
Once the factory-original image is restored, you'll have to visit Windows Update to get the Security Updates since the TouchSmart was shipped. You'll want to update the Security software as well (if you need a free alternative, I think "avast! antivirus" is a good choice).
Once the PC is updated and fully protected against malware, you can then create a recovery disk set onto DVDs following the instructions from this HP support webpage --- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...name=c00882383
Having made your own Recovery DVD set allows you the freedom of running the recovery onto a new, blank drive - should you need or wish to upgrade to a new hard drive in the future.
You can, of course, also order Recovery DVDs directly from HP for most models. The price is considerably less than purchasing a Windows license retail. Much less.
Best of luck

My question: Is the TouchSmart tm2 compatible with WIN 10 and what must be accomplished to achieve a successful install? First, a slignt rant.I was successfuly running WIN 10 on my TouchSmart tm2 when I updated a video driver and afterwards could only get a blank screen. Yes, my bad! I paid HP $99 for incident support and their only suggestion was to do a full system recovery & reinstall WIN 7 Pro. Really? You made me pay for that? Since I didn't have the OS disks (it was OEM) I had to pay HP $25 for the media and $15 FOR SECOND DAY DELIVERY ONLY TO HAVE THE MEDIA ARRIVE ON DAY 3. I can't reach anyone at HP to refund the delivery failure. Now support is stating that my computer isn't compatible with WIN 10. If I was successfully running WIN 10, why is it now un compatable?

Upgraded to windows 10 and now unable to use convenient features I've had for years. My touchpad is disabled, so can't just tap the pad to select what I want; my DigitalPersona fingerprint is disabled and in trying to enable it again, it appears to want to trick me to permanently delete my saved fingerprint. Hello, Our TouchSmart PC will no longer turn on. It was working yesterday but today will not turn on. The LED on the back of the computer where the power supply meets the PC is off. When you press the power button the LED light flickers green one time but remains off. The computer does not power up at all. I have tested the power supply with a laptop and it is working. I have also tried another identical powersupply on the PC but the same thing occurs. Thanks

I've got a TouchSmart 610-1280qd desktop. It was working fine until 1 week ago when my home had a power outage. Now, it won't even boot up. No power, nothing. Even the power brick light is out. I bought a replacement power brick and when I plug it in, the green led light on the new brick(the old is blue) immediately goes out and there's still no power. The power button effects no response, nor does any button on the keyboard have any effect. There's just no power to the entire computer. I've tried plugging both the old and new power bricks in and initially, the blue and green lights on each respectively go on, until I plug them into the desktop. Then the lights go out and still no power and no response by pressing the power button or any button on the keyboard. I've also tried plugging in the old and new power bricks without the surge protector. The power bricks lights go on, but as soon as I plug them in, still no power. I've tried different outlets around my house and the power bricks lights go on, but as soon as I plug them into the desktop, no power. I've tried plugging he power bricks into the desktop first, then the outlets, and no power at all either in the desktop. There is no response at any stage where i've pressed the keyboards buttons. The desktop just doesn't have any power at all. Anyone have a problem with this? I really hope it isn't what I think it is and the motherboard is out. &nb... Read more

Hi @markdag, Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.I understand that you are looking for information on connecting your Touchsmart All-in-One to a PS4. I am happy to give you a hand with this. The available connections on Touchsmart and All-in-Ones in general vary from model to model. Some have an HDMI port that can be used as an input, and others do not. Looking at the specifications of the model you gave: HP TouchSmart 600-1350a Desktop PC Product Specifications, it shows in one diagram that it could potentially have video inputs, but it is an option. If your system does not have those, then you would not be able to use the display on the All-in-One with your PS4. I hope that helps clarify, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.1 more replies

I have a currently crippled HP touchsmart 300-1003. I replaced a dead hard drive with a new 1TB HDD. I have available to me 2 sets of touchsmart recovery disks, and Windows 7 Bootable USB drive (made with win7 tool). The official recovery CDs do absolutely nothing but tell me MBR IS MISSING PRESS CTRL ALT DEL TO RESTART. The bios lists my new HDD (can tell because size is now 1000GB). I cannot choose USB drive as first boot in bios or boot order (this pc has two different menus for the same function, idky). Is there a bootdisk I can use to fixmbr? Please be so kind to provide a guide to getting a touch computer running from the begininng. All the advice online seems to be for computers that will go to a recovery screen already. If I could do that I wouldn't need the disks, lol. I would like to install the touchsmart software but will settle for any windows at this point. Thanks in advance to anyone that is able to walk me through the process.1 Hour Later: To use MSWIN7 USB Tool, I had to ENABLE BOOT DIAGNOSTIC from BIOS, power on, let the black screen read Configured 01 usb drive, ctrlaltdel, f10 to bios again, disable boot diagnostic screen, save and continue f5, then hit ESC for tiny boot menu at the HP LOGO, pick USB 2.0 as first boot. The tool started windows as Repair (which I followed MSguide for bootsec and /fixmbr, no clue if that fixed mbr tho) and Install Windows 7. I picked install. More updates to come.
hi i would download a hdd utility from the maker of the harddrive ,burn it to cd ,usually instruction on ther sitr on how to do this ,to setup harddrive for first time use,it may just need to be formatted to create that mbr that seems to be missing .
burn it to cd ,usually instruction on ther sitr on how to do this ,,

Hi, I need to purchase a new motherboard for my TouchSmart 610. I've opened up the computer and found that the motherboard installed in the computer is model number DA0ZN8MB6I0 (Part number 648511-001). While trying to find a place to purchase this mother board, I see that is motherboard is fairly expensive. While searhing I also found another motherboard, model number DA0ZN9MB6H0 (Part number 648512-001), which is also used in the TouchSmart 610. Visually this motherboard looks the same at the orignal motherboard and is significanly cheaper. The part numbers differ by only one digit (before the revisoin number, 001), which makes me think that the two motherboards are very similar. Does anyone know if these two motehrboard are compatiable/interchangeable? Where can I get information on the difference between these two motherboards? My motherboard has a built in video cards, does anyone know if the second motehrboard does as well? or will I need to purchase a seperate video card if I were to purchase that motherbaord? Thanks for the help.More replies

My HP Touchsmart has never worked properly, Tons of problem, crashing error message etc etc. Computer was sent to HP for repair but it came back whit the same problem. I have spent hours with HP tech support running scan and making recovery with no succes. Recently I have replaced the hard drive on HP tech support recommendation. it worked for awhile but now it dosen't even boot! I don't want to call HP anymore and I wander if somebody can help me or if I should just give up.
Call HP and ask to talk to a manager, then explain what's happened and the number of times you called and that you've had to send it back and demand that they replace the computer with a new one. All-in-Ones are similar to laptops, the repairs are expensive and parts are hard to get, it's best to get the manufacturer to repair or replace it especially under the warranty.
I am new to the forum but a long time computer tech. I have been to the forum on various occasions for help on fixing different issues. I have to say this is a great community that helps alot of people including myself. I've ran into an issue that I believe is needing some of you guys expertise.
What I have is a touchsmart laptop from HP that the keyboard and the touchpad mouse quit working. I have searched all over the internet looking for answers and came across a few telling me to pull the battery and AC adapter to reset the computer. I've had no luck on this being a solution. I have read that booting the computer with the touchscreen facing out is what causes this issue.
So I've tried pulling the power and the battery then holding the power button in to drain any residual energy left on the CPU. And upon booting the computer keyboard will respond but only for the menu that states for starting Windows normally or in Safe mode. After letting the computer boot completely the keyboard and touchpad quits working altogether. This is booting it up in safe mode or in normal mode. The laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium and I believe that this is my only issue. Any help or ideas on what else to troubleshoot will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I am experiencing with a laptop of series hp touchsmart tx2 !

Does anyone here experience install Win XP Pro on HP touchsmart tx2(downgrade from Vista)? I need some advise. thank you.
I would advise you not to install XP on a touchsmart PC. The reasons are as follows.
1. Make sure all of the drivers are available on the HP Support website.
2. Since XP tablet edition is not available in retail, the touch screen won't work.
3. You will have ask HP to give you a OEM version of XP tablet edition (which I don't think they will provide).
If you just want to use it as a non-Touch screen PC. Go you may go ahead only after you have confirmed that the drivers are available.
Post back if you have any more questions.
I was unplugging my power cords and I happened to turn off the power to my HP Touchsmart. Later on when I turned it back on, my HP Touchsmart won't switch on. The lights on the big batter adapter thing is on. The light at the back of the computer indicating that power is reaching the computer is on. However, I just can't turn it on at all. The power button does not light up.I've tried the solutions posted on other threads but nothing has worked. I had just been using my computer the previous day. I suspect that me turning off the main power might have done something.Look forward to getting some solutions.More replies

SNAFU, welcome to the forum. That is quite few dumps! I looked at your four most recent dumps. All have the same error code and are nearly identical.
I recommend that you uninstall Zone Alarm using this uninstall tool: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe. ZA is a documented and well known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Make sure Windows Firewall is turned on.
Error code 7F, UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP.
Usual causes: Memory corruption, Hardware (memory in particular), Installing a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or a failure after installing it, 3rd party firewall, Device drivers, SCSI/network/BIOS updates needed, Improperly seated cards, Incompatible storage devices, Overclocking, Virus scanner, Backup tool, Bad motherboard, Missing Service Pack

Hello! I have a TouchSmart 600--an all-in-one with several inputs except one for a second monitor. (On Windows 7). I purchased a VGA - HDMI (AV?) adapter hoping it might work.It did not.Asking for help, or a direction, please. I've searched through several different forum threads similar to mine, but the responses were several years old with no resolution besides perhaps I should have gotten a USB adapter. I've yet to find someone who successfully paired a second monitor. I did get to Display - clicked detect. Nothing was detected. Second monitor (19inch Acer) says no signal. I have just bought one of these damaged. The screen is smashed, there is no HDD, RAM, Battery and Power Supply. It also has bad damage to one corner (been dropped from a huge height by the looks) thus damaging lid, palm rest and base. I know RAM and P/S are not a great cost issue but I'm not sure if it is worth buying a new screen and hdd for it. I paid ?42.00 for laptop as it was part of a job lot, and I see they retail at around ?500-?600. Should I fix it up to sell or keep, or just sell it as it is to see if I can make a slight profit?
Forgot, obviously, not been able to check MOBO on it either yet, no spares to check it.6 more replies
Good Evening, I have a HP Touchsmart TM2-I can supply the specs if you need them- and it has just started to crash at almost every click/action which I take. THis has only happened within the last couple of days and it has been instant, rather than over time. I did a System Restore but this didn't solve the issue. It may ahve been because I had to stop a disk check last week because my laptop battery died but I'm not sure if that would have such a big effect on the laptops performance.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot
That would have a huge effect not finishing a disk check. If you can boot in, Make sure you have your power adapter attached, Go to Start/Search and type CMD Right click the CMD.exe icon in the Search Results and Run As Administrator. In the Command Prompt type chkdsk /R and press enter. Now type a Y and reboot the computer. The Check Disk Utility will try and fix any problems.3 more replies
In my quest to clean out a bunch of unused programs, I found that I have HP TouchSmart Recipe Box.
After researching about this, I decided it just might be something my wife could use; however, everything I have read about it says it is for HP TouchSmart computers.
My desk-top is HP but I don't think it is a TouchSmart.
My question is, must we have a TouchSmart computer to utilize the HP TouchSmart Recipe Box ?
Try these Google searches:
HP Magic Canvas
HP TouchSmart Recipe Box
What exact model of HP do you have? I find it difficult to believe it isn't a touchsmart if it came with the software. It looks like the apps can be used with a keyboard in many cases, though. See review video in your other thread.
I have been dealing with a broken home on my laptop for more than a year. I just searched these forums and found ~70 posts all with the same issue. This seems to be due to poor design that never should have made it past the quality assurance engineers, having a metal hinge screwed into non-reinforced plastic. I find it reprehensible that a premium laptop was made so poorly. I am told by local PC repair shops that it will cost me $400+ to get this fixed. That's 1/3 what I paid for the machine in the first place.I tried calling support and was directed to log onto the support site for assistance, from which I was directed to search the forums. I thought HP made better products than this, but hadn't wanted to put up the money to get one to find out. Then I bit the bullet and got rewarded with a busted hinge on a laptop that spends its days being used by my wife at home, bring opened and closed 2-3 times per day. And now it seems like I'm going to get the runaround to get this fixed, or just have to trash an otherwise great machine due to crappy hinges. I love this laptop as far as performance and hardware specs go but it is a pain to open and close to try and avoid breaking the other hinge and essentially removing the screen.Any guidance on what I can do to get an actual answer or a case submitted to get any useful help?More replies
My HP touchsmart 520 pc is not booting up and I am looking for support. Using a multi tester to test the power adapter the adapter reads 17.30v however when i plug the adapter to the computer the light above the power outlet flashes for a split second and disappears. When I unplug the adapter from the back of the computer and checks voltage it reads 0 v (zero volts) . I have to plug it out of the main source and back in so it reads 17.30v again. Once plugged into the computer it immediately drops to zero. I need help to know the source of my problem if it is the adapter or the computer.More replies
ok guys i really need some help/guidance here. There is so much infomation here that im sincerely overwhelmed... I will give you as much information as I have and hope SOMEONE can help! First, I hope i selected the correct board to write this in. As stated, I have a pavilion touchsmart23 all in one pc. I am NOT at ALL computer saavy so work with me here. I dont know if its 32 bit or not nor do I know if it is imperative to my issue. Here is my problem. My computer works fine 70% of the time. Suddenly the screen will go black and give me a disk boot error message. I cant remember word for word but this is what it saYS: "no boot disk has been detected or boot disk has failed". When this happenes, I have to disconnect the computer from the wall and reconnect and start over. This always fixes it so it leads me to believe it is some sort of glitch. I called HP and they told me to run a system quick and extensive check on the hard drive which i have done. Both passed and no errors reported. Another thing that will happen is that the screen will go dark, (typically after idling and when i return and move the mouse or type on keyboard, the screen never lights up again as its supposed to when it is no longer idling. It stays VERY dark and I can barely makeout the screen. I am not sure why this is happening nor do I know what steps to take from here. I am hoping someone can suggest the next step for me or refer me to a thread that already covers thi... Read more

Hi, I just recently got an Envy All-in-One Touchsmart; it is a super machine and so far, so good. The 10-point touch is really cool, but there are many instances when I would like to be able to use a pen in order to be more precise in my pointing or to "mark up" a document. I know Microsoft Office has the "inking" feature because I use it on my Laptop with a "pen" while I am traveling and have found it invaluable -- and, by the way this laptop is both touch and pen enabled. I tried to enable "pen" by going to the Control Panel feature that is says says Pen and Touch, but when you do so, it is only for Touch. How can I make it so that it both touch and pen enabled? If that is all possible, what type of "pen" do I need? Thank you very much
Hi AIResnick, A stylus used on a capacitive touch screen basically just takes the place of your finger, so enabling touch on the computer will enable pen input as well. But it can't just be any pen or stylus, the material at the tip has to be something that will register as touch on the screen, and not scratch it. I read your other post and I understand you're looking for a finer-tipped stylus, rather than the ubiquitous blunt-ended, eraser-type stylus pens. That limits your options quite a bit, because I believe the larger surface area is part of what makes those pens work on capacitive screens. (Other types of touch screens can use other styles of stylus, including pointy-tipped ones in some cases.) I've heard good things about the Jot Pro from Adonit. I haven't tried it, so I can't speak from experience. The design seems clever--it looks like they attached a clear, flat disc to the tip of a metal pen, so you can see precisely where you're writing with the point of the pen, but the clear disc provides enough surface area for the touch to register, and prevents damage to your screen from the sharp pen point. I hope that helps.4 more replies
Hello I have a touchsmart 300 and it has no sound from the speakers or headphone jack. I have tried the troubleshoot thing and it dont recognize anything wrong with them. please help. ive tried updating the driver and it says it is updated. so lost. thanks.
Did your pc have working sound when new?
Check the volume level, it's easy to turn it right down or mute it.
Check if the speakers are selected by going to the speaker icon in tray near the current time.
Right click on speaker icon, choose 'playback devices'.
A new box appears, with a speaker and it should have a green tick over it.
Right click on the icon and choose the option 'test', you should hear audio tones.
If you don't have a green tick, right click on icon and choose 'enable'.

I have no idea what happened but today my touchsmart window is all messed up...the large icons (IE. Calander, Music, Photos, Weather, etc) all have the wrong symbol/smaller icon on the upper right corner (for instance, Music has the photo icon but the large Photo icon is missing...there are 2 calendars, one has headphones and the correct date, the other just says loading but has the correct smaller calendar icon), etc...
Any ideas on how to correct this?? I'm so frustrated with this Vista TouchSmart!!

currently i have become frustrated with the general slowness that my computer seems to go through on a daily basis. even a simple, low detail, low memory usage game (minecraft) runs at 4-6 fps, with the most dumbed down settings that i can put it at. Now my question is, how easy, or on the other end complicated, would it be to upgrade the current cpu (Intel Core 2 Duo T6400) to something much more powerful. Considering this computer is a very much compacted unit, with no seperate tower housing the hardware, I imagine it wouldnt be quite the simplest of tasks. Also, a general list of compatible cpus would be nice as well.
Thank you for your time people,
I need to replace the power supply in my Hp touchsmart and cannot find instructions on how to go about it... The main issue is the location and how to unmount the psu? Any help is welcome or if you know of a website with step by step instructions and diagrams even better...
How do you know the power supply is the problem? Does it even have a power supply? It wouldn't be a standard form factor one. I would think it would have an AC adapter instead.
My fan is working but it doesn't have the power that it used to. I tried cleaing it with air but that didn't help. I can't into the laptop to actually take the fan out and clean it like that either. There is nothing that pops up and tells me that it is not working, it just heats up a lot. How do I fix this?More replies

I tried the yogi tech support, but looks like they operate from India or elsewhere, and they priority is squeeze money out from you as much is possible. I don't mind to pay for services , of course nothing is free, but in simple question what do I need to buy and what kind of parts ( I gave them all info about my PC, operating system, hard drive , everything) instead of explaining what do I need , they would send tech to my home to take a look at my PC and then he would tell me what I need to buy, and that would cost me $150 , and then the sales pitch started that I need to subscribe they services for yearly fee, and it would cost me less to send the technician
I tried to Google it, but there is not much info as well. All I found out I need to buy some kind of card and attach it to my hard drive, which is very easy. But everywhere was mentioned that I need to have... Read more

Anyone know 1) if I can and 2) how I can blow out the dust from inside my HP Touchsmart PC? I've always cleaned the dust out of my old computer but with this all-in-one PC I'm not sure if I can. Will it void a warranty? What are my options? Thanks!

So one of the Civilian guys i work with has an HP Pavilion Touchsmart with Windows 8 installed and he overheard me talking to someone about my ability to wipe a computer and clean-install windows 7. He asked if i could do it on his new HP since he basically refuses to use it because of 8 and can't take it back...I've done a lil bit of research about this PC and i guess it wasnt offered in a 7 variant (at least i cant find it) and i read a few articles about downgrading only being possible on Windows 8 *PRO* machines.
I've tried the conventional boot from flash drive with Windows 7 install files, and try to install but it says it cannot do it because the partition style is GPT...and i have no earthly clue what that is...it's new to me. I've wiped and clean installed windows 7 on countless computers now...even one that had windows 8 on it that was an HP...but for some reason this one is extra tricky.
Any body have any Tips or Tricks, links or anything that can help guide in the right direction to getting 8 off this thing and putting 7 on it? It has to be possible...like i said, i've done countless computers now and havent failed yet...but this one has me scratching my head...HARD!!!
EDIT: Wanted to post up the exact product specs for future use

I am considering getting the subject desktop for myself on my 83rd birthday (in a couple of weeks).
I have had a Touchsmart IQ506 (It has Win 7 Home Premium, 64-bit -- the same as the 1070) for a few years and am well pleased EXCEPT -- a couple of months ago out cable provider went to all-digital. The TV tuner on my 506 is analog, so I have to fiddle with a digital adapter box.
I like to record movies from the Turner Classic Movie Channel, especially those directed by the uncle after whom I was named.
My question is: Will the remote control, for MS Media Center, which came with the 506 work with the subject computer?
I would ask HP, but their web site is too confusing for me to find out how. I can download manuals and drivers, but I can't see how to ask them that question.
If anyone can answer my question directly, I would appreciate that -- if not, can someone give me instructions for asking it directly of HP?
Problem solved, I bought it!
I've had my Touchsmart for 2 or 3 years now and have always used it with Google Photos (Picasa) to edit and upload. I initially used a Canon EOS 400D and a couple of years ago upgraded to a 7D. All have been working fine.
Last week I returned from holiday with around 1,000 photos on my camera and plugged the cable from my Touchsmart into the camera as normal, but, it didn't recognise the camera. It did make the little noise that a device makes when plugging something into a USB port, but would not see the camera. I looked in device manager to see if any flags were showing ofr USB issues, none were.
I restarted the Touchsmart, still the same. I removed the two external HDD's so that the camera was the only thing connected, still the same , I tried the cable from the camera in all 6 USB ports, the same. I tried another cable, the same. I then tried a card reader with the CF card in it, initially the same. Then I had odd problems with the PC recognising it as an external drive but showing some odd characters in the view, but as soon as I tried to access it the drive disappeared.
I looked to see if there was a specific driver for the 7D but there was not, so I downloaded the Canon EOS utility s/w and tried to see if that recognised the camera but it didn't.
I then popped the CF card back into the camera to find that the camera was now showing the card as blank; you can imagine how I felt thinking that I'd lost 7 days of holiday photos! I tried it back on the Touchsmart a... Read more
Hello and welcome botty mate have you tried using a different cable to plug the camera into the machine. Now I ask because maybe the port/s you are plugging it into may not be making very good contact at the connection.
The other suggestion I might make is to use an adaptor to plug that card into the machine much the same way as I do with the SD cards I use with my cameras. this would avoid having to lug the camera in at all and avoid anything glitches that are or maybe going on between camera and machine.
From experience most of the large manufacturers ie HP and as recently with myself - Asus the support is pretty weak if and when you can get through.
Just for the record a Google shows me this type of card is now quite old and I am sure an SD one would be better if it fits because as you say as soon as you plug that card into the machine it goes blank for what reason I am not sure.
Now you could try running these just in case the Windows system is out of whack
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2
now if those do no good then run these - just in case because at very least they will eliminate a few things and take no time to run

Hello everyone. I have a so called hybrid laptop HP Pavilion Touchsmart 11-n010dx. It has Windows 8.1 pre installed and I don't like it that much. So I decided to downgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and faced some problems. I've done Windows installation plenty of times before and that is the first time when it's so tricky. First of all the laptop doesn't have an optical drive so I'm using a flash drive. I set UEFI BIOS to a necessary settings (disabled Secure Boot, enabled Legacy Support). I'm using a 2.0 USB port so that is not a problem. The problem is while installing a message shows up that I need a CD/DVD driver. I made some research and decided that I need motherboard or chipset drivers. I tried it - no result. I think I've tried everything but maybe you guys can help me. Thank you in advance and I hope you'll have some ideas concerning my issue.

I'm using a HP TouchSmart 610 and my wireless keyboard (original copy that comes along when I bought the desktop) suddenly stopped working.
I've researched for various solutions online and I found out that I'm suppose to have a wireless receiver. However, I can't seem to find it on my desktop. I'm quite sure I didn't pluck it out or anything of that sort, is it possible that the receiver is in-built?
Anyway I've tried the following:
1. Replacing the batteries
2. Taking the batteries out and putting it back in again
3. Hold the 'connect' button for 5-10 seconds
Those didn't work for me and I'm hoping that I could find a solution here.
Thanks in advance!
p.s hope I'm posting this in the right forum.
how many batteries does the keyboard have 2 or 4
also the spring is that connecting correctly to the battery - so make sure that the batteries are all connected and touching the spring and positive bit of metal
Usually the touchsmart comes with a receiver USB device
have you tried removing that and refitting
do you have a wireless mouse and is that working OK

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to ask,
I have a new HP Touchsmart 15t Laptop. It works well except I notice that the shift key can't seem to keep up with me when I let go. For example sometimes when typing I end up with:
THank you. HEllo. The SHift key sometimes won't de-activate fast enough when I want to type the next letter.
I thought maybe it is just a matter of me getting used to the keyboard, but after a month or so the problem still comes up. I was wondering if there is some program that can alter the response sensitivity of specific keys.

Greetings, I have owned this laptop for over 2 years and have encountered many problems which have required me to open up my laptop and remove debree/dust from the interior. My last adventure included removing the fan and heatsink from the inside, but when I assembled the laptop back together it will not start up. When plugged in the white led light still shows next the the charger socket, but the power button will not light up after several tries. The fan does not start to spin either. I have tried the hold the power for 1 minute idea, but it does not change anything.I have 3 possible conclusion that are very unlikly to me.1. I worked on carpet and had static electrickery! My 8-year old HP Touchsmart (a fantastic machine) is running extremely slow.
I can't say that it happened suddenly - more like slower and slower over time.
We upgraded to Windows 7 Professional several years ago and it has run fine for several years.
Right now it's on the verge of what can be considered usable - my spouse mainly uses it for reading email in the browser but it is painfully slow.
I have run Malwarebytes but couldn't see any serious security issues.
I'm hoping that you guys can guide us through at least a cursory review of possibly unneeded things that might be slowing the machine down.
I have a attached a basic snippet from the control panel System Info screen.
Thanks in advance for your help and time.
We'll attempt to follow instructions carefully and will not attempt any other steps/remedies in the mean time.

It's been a while since I bought the HP Touchsmart 600-1350. Recently I took it out and restore it to its oringinal state. However, It's still kind of slow so I decide to do a little research about upgrading this fossil. So far, I noticed that the i3 m370 cpu @2.40GHz can be upgraded, so does RAM (4GB to 8GB with Win 7 64 bit). What about the graphics? This HP Touchsmart 600-1350 has a intel HD graphic which has only 64MB. I saw a lot people are saying that GT 230M can be installed since there is a PCIe (MXM 2.0) socket available. Is that true? do I need to install cooling as well, or just plug it in and play? Is there any other model of graphic cards that are compatible? ThanksMore replies
So I want to upgrade my RAM on the 320-1030. The specs page says "Two 200-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM sockets".It also says "Supports DDR3 SO-DIMMs" and specifically "PC3 10600 (1333 MHz)" and "PC3 12800 (1600 MHz)". Yet more HP contradictions (lies?)1) The parts page lists the item pre-installed is 572293-D88, a 204-pin item. See here, here, here, here, and here.2) Using the automated systems for major RAM sellers all indicate 204-pin RAM will work on the 320-1030. Crucial.comNewegg.com What gives?!?
Hi: I do not believe there is any such thing as a 200 Pin DDR3 SODIMM, so HP's reference to that is incorrect. A DDR2 SODIMM memory module is 200 pin, and a DDR3 SODIMM is 204 pin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SO-DIMM Paul9 more replies
