Directx 9.0c graphic adapters for unknown parts

Q: Directx 9.0c graphic adapters for unknown parts

Okay so i read the thread posted a couple of years ago which is very similar she posted that she bought the sims 2 and in order for it to work you need to have DirectX 9.0c but after downloading it, it still didnt work and after reading posts I figured out that i need a graphics adapter or driver or something but when i do the dxdiag it says that my video card stuff is n/a or blank? I'm frustrated I have the sims2 and I cannot play it which is a waste of a lot of money. someone please help.

A: Directx 9.0c graphic adapters for unknown parts

Chances are your PC or laptop simply does not meet the minimum requirements of the game, apparently the graphics adapter. If possible, you will have to install one that does or get a better PC.

Keep in mind that before buying any game you should read the minimum specs listed on the game box or game website and make sure your PC meets them. If your PC meets the recommended specifications, that would be even better.

I'm guessing you have integrated graphics which is not meeting game requirements. To confirm, try downloading a stand alone program called SIW and run it. It does not have to be installed. Just double click on the siw.exe file and look in the left column for "Video," click on it and see what it will list.

Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a direct X9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate.

This is what pops up on my screen everytime I try to play my Sims 2 game on my computer. Is there any way that you can help me?

A:Problems with DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters

And i'm assuming you've got DX9.0c installed, run DxDiag and post it's version here.
Also, the issue may be the drivers with your video card, so I have a few questions:

I am wondering if you have overlooked uninstalling old video card drivers driver first before installing new drivers?

The sequence should go something like this: uninstall old driver (from Add/Remove Programs), restart, if Windows asks to install a driver, cancel, install new driver
and restart. You don't want to install a graphics driver on top of an old one. Sometimes you have to use programs like Drivercleaner to get rid of all driver files

This sounds like it is most likely an issue with the drivers on your video card. It is possible that at some point in time you installed an older version of drivers ON TOP of your newer version of drivers, then..........updated your video drivers later on.

This creates an unstable driver base for your card. I would recommend creating a file on your desktop and downloading the latest drivers.

Then, un-install your video card and restart your computer. On the restart, your computer will say "new hardware found'. It will search for drivers, then you may install the latest CLEAN version of drivers.

I hope this solves your issue.

I am building a dual Xeon ( 3.06GHZ ) system around an HPxw6000 motherboard but performance will be held back by the onboard rage theatre graphics. The board has no AGP so I'd like to know if anyone has come across a PCIX graphics card. Failing that whats the best PCI graphics card around?
I have a secondary dilemma in that the processors I bought were for a rackmount chassis; they came with a passive 1"copper heatsink.
I have also bought standard Xeon aluminium heatsinks with fans. I was wondering if I should use the copper blocks with the fan if possible.
Thank you in advance for your ideas.

A:PCI or PCI-X graphic adapters

Are you sure about that motherboard having PCI-X? HP themselves don't seem to think so..

It was the first place I thought to look - HP would be happy to sell you some video cards.

A:HELP! SIMS2 CANT FIND DIRECTX 9.0c COMPATIBLE GRAPHICS ADAPTERS!

The Sims 2 has fairly high DirectX 9.0c requirements hence why so many people are confused. You need more than just DirectX 9.0c installed- you must also have a 3d card that supports the minimum levels of DirectX 9.0 acceleration/features used by the game.

The Sims2 absolutely requires:
- HW Acceleration
- HW T&L (Transform & Lighting)

If you have old, obsolete drivers for your 6200, this can cause it to misreport it's features. More likely though is the "TE" version of the card may be a stripped down version of the 6-series, stripping out T&L and other hardware requirements for the game.

Hit this link here:
http://www.srtest.com/referrer/srtest

Select "The Sims 2" and try both the minimum AND recommended. See what flags this test seems to feel you miss. From there, it may simply be you are unable to play it.. especially if you have updated your drivers from NVIDIA's website.

If not, go to your mobo manufacturers wesbsite and download and install all the latest drivers.

I need urgent help.

i was on the internet on my laptop doing the stuff i usually do when my computer screen went completely blank. i was unable to fix it for a while as it had got to the stage where my laptop would turn on but have a completelyblank screen.

i later went for my last hope in re installing windows xp using the disk that came with the laptop.

after the lengthy process i was suprised to see that all my files and basically EVERYTHING was as it should when i was expecting them to all be gone as i had basically restarted my computer to shop state.

everything was fine until i decided to go on the sims 2. i have all the expantion packs and the latest was seasons. however i will just say the sims as it is easier.

the sims 2 screen popped up as usual and then disapeared. instead of the screen going black and then the video etc coming, an error message appeared stating the following...

i was a little confused at what the message was sugesting and first thought i had to download direct x again.

i did this and still the message popped up.

Your video card, or video graphics driver has gone bad. It will likely require a replacement, but you might just try downloading the drivers to another machine then copying them over AFTER removing or disabling the old drivers. If the current driver does not work, go back to a previous driver.
Usually when the download fails, it is because the Mobility 9600 is bad... common among laptops used for a lot of gaming.
It may all hinge on whether your computer has a video graphics port that can be repaired or replaced. Otherwise, your computer has reached the end of its useful product life.

That aspect worked with no problem once we selected the option to use your TV on the graphics card control panel. Last night we tried playing PC games (Simple ones like Dinner dash, and online games like ultimate baseball online) and they worked fine. So we moved onto Sims 2 which is a must have around here. And we get the following error.

Another thing suggested was to update my drivers, but when I try and do this I get 'INF error: video driver not found'. I have also tried a repair installation of windows with no results.

I've just installed Sims 2 on an older system that my grandpa gave me, but with a brand new monitor and I know nothing about graphics cards. I keep getting an error saying "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system!"

I would just go in and try to auto update my drivers, but I don't have internet access on that computer--I have to download things from another computer and transfer them over on flash drive or DVD. I have a Dell Dimension L700cx and I believe the graphics card is an Intel 82810E Graphics Controller. My moniter is an HP w17e if that makes any difference.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thank you!

Any of the card produced by Nvidia or ATI in the past two years or so are direct X9 compaitable. given your system specs I would suggest not going for a high end or even midrange card. go for one of the budget models and even then your CPU and ram are going to bottleneck the cards performance.

you need to find out if you have an AGP slot on your motherboard. it is obviously an intel chipset but what model?

if you dont know you can download this free utility to find out.

Your graphic adapter is not compatible with the game. It probably does not house the features that the game needs to run. Unless your processor is at least 2.0ghz, the game won't run. Sorry.

Have you tried removing the devices in Device Manager? You should be able to right-click and select 'Uninstall'

Help!
Today I installed VBox on my Windows Vista (I know) because I need to to try some things out.
Right after my installation was complete and perfectly running, on my host machine the Network Adapters are listed as "unknown" (my interface is in Italian, here they're listed under "sconosciuto" instead of "schede di rete".
Moreover, if I try giving the "getmac" command, it says there's no network adapter.
Then, I decided to try uninstalling the devices, but when I click on the "uninstall" command, a message saying something like "impossible to download the NET installation program. Try contacting the hardware vendor".
I tried the system recover point, but that was useless too.
I even cleaned the register, but it was useless.
The funniest thing is: even though it says all this stuff, the wlan and the lan connection both works.
The thing is I wanted to know my MAC address, but couldn't get it.
What can I do now? Is formatting the only choice? Please, help!
My wlan adapter is: Atheros AR5007EG and the lan is: Marvell Yukon 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller.

Our school currently has 800+ Probook 640 G2s and I've been repairing them but starting to come across a trend. The device won't come on AT ALL. I've replaced motherboard, power button board, tried different battery both in and out, reseated ram and tried the other location, different SSD and power supplies. I've almost built a new one a few times. We sent one off for them to repair at Depot so I could figure out what I'm doing wrong and the repair sheet came back with 3 parts. 845847-601 System Board (I know what this is obviously even if that part number doesn't match anything for the laptop). 846867-001 Hardware, HDD Bracket / Screw / ODD Bracket / Smart846868-001 Hardware, HDD Bracket / Screw / ODD Bracket / Smart The two above parts however I don't know what they are. Our machines have SSDs in them and there's no bracket. It plugs straight into the MB and 1 screw holds it down. I've tried the part searcher and it finds nothing (not even for the system board number). If anyone has any ideas it would be MUCH appreciated.

A:Unknown issue installing DirectX and AutoCAD 2013+

Welcome to Seven Forums JoeCole29. Confirm you have the D3DX9_43.dll in both the C:\windows\System32 and C:\windows\SysWOW64 folders. If it is missing from one, copy it from the other.

You can also download the Directx offline installer if necessary

At my wits-end attempting to locate the issue I'm experiencing.

Problem: No graphics intensive game can be played on my computer ---- BUT everything else is perfect! It starts fast, excel, word, internet, multi-tasking & working, quick-books..........runs absolutely fine. With Windows 7 amazingly fine.

Story: Once a game starts (example: Arma2, The Ship, Star Wars the Force Unleashed) the screen freezes and the monitor, after a few moments, will switch to "No Signal" -- albeit the computer remains 'powered on'. I then hold the power button to shut her down.
Upon a restart the computer is perfectly fine without revealing any errors.
Here's my checklist of where I'm at (going on 2 or 3 months of attempting to solve this):

Power supply - tested on two identical 750W Dell PSUs, happens with both
(Dell XPS 750W Power Supply NG153 N750P-00)

Graphics card - tested on 8800GTX, & two 9800GTX+ - happens on all 3.

Graphics driver - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1)
Provider - Nvidia Driver Date - 5/14/09 Version - 8.15.11.8593
with Windows XP I tested MANY different graphics drivers....to no avail.
At the moment with the fresh install of Windows 7 I am using what was apparently automatically installed onto the fresh hard-drive.
Can't figure out the Nvidia number for it -- but I don't think this is a driver issue upon 3 fresh OS installs and numerous different drivers in the past.

I have an HP Pavilion Notebook dv8040us (Yeah, I know shoot me already, I've had nothing but problems with the company itself and the computers). Up until recently, I've had NO problems running games like World of Warcraft smoothly and honestly above average. About two months ago for no apparent reason I was forced to reduce all of my games settings (draw distance, terrain detail, etc.) to the lowest possible just to function, as the characters and camera angle moved like they were in a STROBE LIGHT.

First off, this is NOT a problem with the game software itself, although maybe some sort of incompatibility with something that has changed in my computer? The frustrating part is nothing was really changed directly prior to the new problem. To try to fix things myself, I did all the typical idiot-proof solutions. I did a few system recoveries, going all the way back for months. I've done a complete reinstall of windows, to make sure something wasn't just funky. I updated (and downgraded to past versions, just to check) all my drivers for my graphic card and processor. I suspect if it IS a hardware issue, it's one of these two? I did the same for DirectX.

How EXACTLY do I test to see if this is a hardware or software issue? I've been looking around for some sort of benchmark but honestly this is over my head and I'm not sure where to start. Is there any sort of program I can run that will pull out some data that I can post here to be interpreted, o... Read more

I have two issues that I hope you can assist me with.  The first paragraph below is for the first issue.  The second paragraph below is for the second issue.  I appreciate any assistance you could provide.

On 4/2/2016, I placed an order for a new display back cover and a set of hinges in the HP Parts Store.  My HP [personal information removed].  Total order cost = $233.91 in US dollars.  I paid for the parts already via credit card and the parts were delivered to me.  A friend of mine repairs laptops as a full time occupation.  She was planning to help me repair the broken laptop hinge and replace the back cover so part of the replacement hinge would be protected when I transport the computer.  Unfortunately, my friend found out that her sister was diagnosed with terminal cancer after I received the parts from the HP Parts Store.  My friend has been spending lots of time caring for her ill sister and her elderly parents in their 80s.  She is unable to help me repair the right hinge and back cover of my laptop.  The parts have not been touched and they are still in the boxes.  I would like to return the parts and receive a credit applied to my charge account; however the HP return policy states that parts must be returned in 14 days.  The HP Parts Store also charges a restocking fee.  Can you assist with this return transaction?  I would prefer to not pay the restocking fee.

Now, I'm fairly sure (unless my memory fails me), that I only had one of each of these when I bought this computer a little over 60 days ago. 4 of the 47(all identical) 6TO4s are showing the error 31 (failure to load device driver), plus 1x6TO4#6, which I don't think was originally there either, also with error 31. Most of these only showed when I did show hidden devices option in view.

The 20 ISATAP Adapters (again all identical) appear to be functional, plus there is an ISATAP Adapter#11 showing error 31 as well. This was also not there when I got this computer.

I have the feeling that the ones displaying errors are prompting reports of failure, and I'm downloading more of these to try to 'fix' the problem. Either that, or they're reproducing in my system! If this rate keeps up, I'll be overrun with these devices within a year.

What I want to know is, how many of these can I uninstall? I especially want to uninstall the ones showing errors to stop the influx. I've looked in Technet - again - but can find no indication of amounts needed, though I can't imagine I would need a new one for each address found.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Maybe have a look at how many of these things you have?

Okay, so I recently uninstalled all of my wireless network devices, these were a simple Wireless Card which was in a PCI slot and a wireless USB adapter, I uninstalled them from the device manager, and now under "Network Devices" I have about 32 'Microsoft 6to4 adapters' all with the yellow triangle on them, and then also there are 2 Microsoft ISATAP adapters, again with the yellow triangles.

Basically, what has happened and what can I do to resolve this!?

Oh also, when I click on them, they say "This device cannot be started (error code:10)"

And also now, my fast ethernet port has a yellow triangle on it too, but windows cannot find a driver.

Thank you very much,

What flavor are your Lan cards. I never used wireless but found multiple 6to4 and Isatap adapters in my device tree. It was solved by updating my Lan card drivers and deleteing the entries from the device tree. With a new driver I only had entries for each port. (dual Lan card)

So I'm planning on building my new PC and have found a list of all of the parts that I would like to purchase. This will be my first build and wanted to check that A) all these parts are compatible and B) that these are the best parts I can get for the money.

To clarify I will be using the PC for mainly gaming and Photoshop/other design work. The prices below are the best prices I could find online too. (Budget is about £600)
Tower - Antec 900 Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case - £82.99
Power Supply - Corsair 500 Watt CX500 V2 Builder Series 80 Plus Power Supply - £44.98
CPU - Intel Core i5 2500K - £166.97
Motherboard - ASRock Z68 Extreme3 - £100.00
RAM - Patriot G Series ‘Sector 5’ Edition 4GB - £24.49
Graphics card - Sapphire RADEON HD 6850 - £118.40
Hard drive - Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB - £61

Think this all I will need (apart from a disc drive) any other hidden costs/ parts that I am missing out too?

Thanks

Hi everyone;

Been having trouble with my AMD Radeon 6800 HD card, I think.

Symptoms:

- Cut to a black screen.
- Alternatively, when enabled "Graphics OverDrive" in "Performance" in Catalyst Control Center, instead of cutting to a black screen, it cuts to a bunch of linear cubes, then black. No error is displayed.
- Sound plays as normal for a few more seconds, but goes wonky after.
- Unresponsive to anything. Cannot Ctrl-Alt-Delete or Alt-Ft. Requires a hard reboot by pressing power button.
- It's considered disconnected to any online services (Vs. when a program crashes sometimes it's still "online" if you don't close the error prompt)

It seems that I can play multiple games at the same time with no problems (For example, Starcraft 2, Tropico 4 and Sims 3 at the same time ), but when I run the MMO Mabinogi, this occurs after an entirely random time. It is not reproduceable. There is no common denominator. I could be killing monsters, or fishing, or just AFKing. It could happen as soon as I start the program, or it can happen 6 hours in.

Doing a quick google search suggests that it is a problem with the card as I found similar issues with another game but no solutions. - Forum - Technical & Account Support - Computer Crashes after random time played. - Path of Exile

Things I've tried but didn't work:

- Reinstallation of the game

I HAVE A SOLUTION!!!!

Well it worked for me anyway.

You need both the 9.0b and 9.0c full versions. both around 30Mb each. Unzip both to respective temp folders. then copy and paste the following from 9.0b to 9.0c:

dxsetup
dsetup32.dll
DSETUP.dll

next you need a direct x uninstaller. i used dx eradicator from majorgeeks.com, bu there are plenty around

once done simply run dxsetup in the 9.0c version (which would be the one you copied before right) and it will install using the files from the folder it is in. and there you go you have installed directx 9.0c.Click to expand...

Thanks!

On running dxdiag, it states that I'm running DirectX 11, which is true. So I go into the registry, and the DirectX version key has the info that I'm quite sure is associated with DirectX 9.0. I tried changing the key (through regedit.exe) to the common 8.1 key in case it would work (so HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\directx\version to 4.08.01.0810 from 4.09.00.0904), yet even so dxdiag still states that I'm running DirectX 11. It surprised me that DirectX 11 had a 9.0 version key, and I know this method worked back in DirectX 9.0, so I'm thinking after 9.0 the version must be communicated in a way other than through the registry. Is there any way I could get my computer to detect DirectX 8.1 even for a short time in place of DirectX 11? Like am I missing a necessary key, or maybe is there a DirectX version synth program?

Thanks

Hello Rudabega, welcome aboard.

The log you uploaded contains four elements beyond repair, as I apparently found.
keymgr.dll ==> non system service
korwbrkr.dll ==> non system service
kerboros.dll ==> non system service
d3d11.dll ==> DirectX Direct3D 11
► For the non system services, I am not very sure which software originated those files in your registry. The best what you can to deal with those is to download and install CCleaner > Run it > Click on the registry tab > scan for issues > fix selected issues.

► For DirectX Direct3D 11, I would say that it is inbuilt in windows. So if SFC is unable to fix it when windows is running, try SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot

► But, for your situation, I would suggest you that a Repair Install would be the best option.

Hello all,

I think I have only seen something like this once and the problem was attributed to damaged RAM. This time around, the RAM seems to be in perfect working condition (tested with Memtest) and the problem still remains. I am starting to wonder if the graphic chip is not having issues. Take a look at the attached photo and tell me your opinions. I ran FurMark yesterday on this notebook for 6 hours and did not see this happen, but the customer insists that this graphic issue still sporadically occurs. The Nvidia graphic drivers are the newest version.

Specs:

Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook NP530U4C-S02DE

Intel Core i5 2537M 1.40 GHz / 8 GB DDR-3 @ 1033 MHz

500GB SATA-II HDD

Intel MH76 Chipset

1 GB Nvidia GeForce GT 620 with Optimus Technology

A:Strange sporadic graphic issues, graphic lock ups (with Pictures)

I think i read somewhere here in fact... that the newest drivers were causing a similar issue, try rolling back the drivers, and check if the newest drivers do support the GT 620. Ask if the customer installed drivers properly, and if the issue started with the install of the drivers. if so, you have the culprit.

Then you could try reinstalling the proper way, or leave it with the old drivers for the mean time.

I now need to make changes to the text of this logo and don't know how to do this. I do not know what program the graphic designer used to create the logo. I need help to make changes to the text of my logo. Which program can I use to make these changes? Please help??

A:Editing a JPEG graphic image designed by Graphic Designer

Editing a rater image (jpeg, gif etc) would involve using an image editor like Photoshop.

On any branding work I have done I've used Illustrator to create a vector image (eg: vector PDF, EPS, AI etc), and then given that and raster versions to the client.

If you upload your logo as an attachment and say how you want to change the text, we can advise you better.

That said, if you can get the original file(s) from the designer it would help as well.

Hello,

I just did a clean install on my laptop after installing a new SSD. I installed the drivers that I had to install manually, and then I did a Windows update for anything else. After getting everything setup I ran my first Windows Experience Index.

Surprising, the graphics score was only 5.0, but I am almost sure it was higher with the factory installation. I am runnng Aero but with most of the visual effects turned off. I viewed the assessment details and it showed this:

If you notice, the DirectX version is 10. But when I run dxdiag the version number in the report is 11. Here is my configuration, and please let me know if more information is needed. Thank you very much.

HP Pavilion dv7-4285dx
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit made from ISO image: X17-58997.iso
Graphics Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370

A:DXDiag shows DirectX 11 but Windows Experience Index shows DirectX 10

I believe that WinSAT only test for DirectX 10 and 9, not 11. That's why it only shows DirectX 10. If your card fails to do the DirectX 10 test, then WinSAT will only display DirectX 9. Don't worry about it. If DxDiag shows DirectX 11, then your card can support it.

Recently did a reinstall of Windows 7, and ran the assessment. Before the reinstall my graphic score was 7.6, now it dropped to 6.0. Same driver, no new hardware. What can this be?

The graphics card is ATI 4890 1GB, running latest catalyst 9.12

A:My WEI graphic and gaming graphic score just dropped?

36 views with no reply so I'll step in it. You should take the WEI score with a grain of salt. It has proved time and time again not to be a program to take to seriously. Nobody seems to know why it produces erratic scores it just does. I would suggest using a benchmarking program designed specifically for testing graphic capabilities.

Hi All

I have a medion laptop, running  32bit version of Windows 7 ultimate, 160GB Hard Drive & 1Meg Ram. It ran fine for about a year after upgarding from Windows Vista to the above system about a year ago.

All was fine until I installed some Nvidea updates whicxh kind of came as auto/recommenended updates.

Now when I turn the computer on it loasd ok in normal mode but I have 4 small screens running length ways, (left to right) both at log in & once I've logged on which I can just about do.

I have tried the following;
1. unistalling the updates
2 also did a system restore back to before I installed the updates but tha then re-installed the updates.

The computer work fine except for the above it will update with windows etc Nortons all no problem, but I cant see what im doing too well!

Also another thing that happens is that the standy is greyed out & even if I go in settings & try to change this I cant.

Im dont thing the system isnt loading up 4 times...& my other thought is it maybe something to do with screen settings but just a guess...?

I can connect a external H/D & this will work on via the USB port but also get 4 views as per above.

I attach the screen shot, I've been trying for a month to solve this & feel its something relatively simple if someone has the expertise!

Many Thanks in advance!!

Dave

Hi everyone,
I know that my title sounds very odd but this seems to be my problem. Firstly, I cant connect to the internet at all - I cant even try to connect to any networks (the icon in my tray is a disconnected ethernet icon). In addition, when I look at my network adapters folder it is empty, but when I look at my network adapters in device manager I have way too many. They are all suffering from error code 31 (they have an exclamation mark next to them and the drivers cant be loaded), but there really are too many as well. All of my normal adapters are there, but I also have about 20 6to4 adapters which I can't uninstall (I tried using devcon and the microsoft hotfix, but they didn't work). I can, however, disable these adapters, but I can't uninstall them...

So it might be that I have two separate problems; that the no network adapters is one and the overload of 6to4 adapters is another.

If anyone has any solutions it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Some of the games I have seen have the options to select which one to use, dx9 or 10 or 11.

Honestly, I have just a little approximate knowledge of what these do

most of them from experience.

- dx9 runs smoother (just for me i suppose)
- dx10 just adds shinys and i did not really use it. for some reason (in a couple of games i tried) it just hampered performance
- dx11 has tessellation and stuff

most of the search results from search engines primarily advertise gpu manufacturers boasting about how awesome games will look with their new gpus that support the latest directx (with "little" performance loss)

can someone enlighten me on this topic?

A:DirectX 9 to DirectX 11 : Which runs better?

DirectX is about improving multimedia to include games, videos, and audio - DirectX 11

Your DX modes also depends on not only the game, but the video card and OS - see step 6 of my guide here: Tips on Troubleshooting Game Issues.

Also, the higher the DX mode, the harder your system is tasked due to the increased textures (higher resolution) of the game, and this can have a huge impact on frame rates. This is where system build/components comes into play. Example higher end video cards tends to handle DX11 games more easily then mid to low end video cards. Same with system - a higher end system will perform better than a low to mid level system.

With today's systems being much more advanced than their predecessors were when DX9 was released there is somewhat of a "leveling" effect going on here. In other words today's systems are much more powerful and capable of handling more advanced multimedia (including games), and therefore require a more advanced DirectX API (Application Programming Interface). This is the reason for DX11, and the move towards DX12.

Yes, DX11 can task a system, but if the system is relatively new and upper mid level, this shouldn't be a problem. The problem comes in when trying to game with mid to low level systems/video cards. This is where you take a performance hit via frame rates. In this instance your can lower your DX mode, but at the cost of image quality - what most refer to as eye candy.

Hope this provides a better u... Read more

A:directx 9 to directx 10 cards

I don't think they can. That's not to say that at some time in the future they won't. I'm sure a company that sells graphics processors wouldn't want a software advance like that to happen. They would lose a lot of sales.

I've tried lots of stuff to try to get this game to work properly but nothing works...PLEASE HELP :)

A:How do I downgrade to Directx 9.0c from Directx 10.1?

DirectX 10 is built into Vista. You don't want to, and shouldn't downgrade, as DirectX 10 is backwards-compatible with 9.
All I can suggest if you're having difficulty with a game is the usual. Check for latest drivers from graphics card manufacturer (not from Windows Update). Tweak advanced settings for your graphics card if they're available. Tweak settings within the game. Check for updates and patches for the game. Contact tech support from the game maker and report the bug (be sure to tell them your exact setup and hardware and software specifications).

I have a DirectX 10, says the System Information. I want to downgrade my DirectX down to DirectX 9, because I want to know if the DirectX is the cause of my game's graphics problem.

Now, I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit System. Would downgrading DirectX be fatal? Would there be unacceptable changes?
If not:
a) Where can I download DirectX 9
b) How can I downgrade DirectX 10
c) How can I install DirectX 9

A:DirectX 10 downgrade to DirectX 9

What you are asking is nearly impossible to do. You can't downgrade your version of DirectX. There will be an option to unistall it, but the information of the version will remain in the regristry. And if you try to erase directx 10 out of the registry you will get trouble. So this is not the option.

To solve your VGA problem I would advice to download an older driver. Maybe that will help.

Good luck, let me know of it works.

First of all:
I don't know too much about computers, so use easy language please.

I have sent in my computer to get repaired and got it back yestersay. Since then i've been trying to get it to work properly again.
I can't play any of the games I used to play before I sent it in to get repaired (for example, Battlefield 3). I can start dota2 but it looks pretty messed up. I can run minecraft though ^^

Anyway, after a lot of questions asked, trying out different stuff and after getting further and further to the end of this problem I've come to this:

My computer shows me that I have an nvidia geforce 7025 nforce 630a graphic card.
Although it says in the computer description that it SHOULD have a AMD HD 6870 1GB GDDR 5.
My screen isn't plugged in the graphic card, since it doesn't recieve anything from there. It is plugged directly to the motherboard.
So, from what I understand the nvidia card is the integrated graphic card or am I totally wrong?

Anyway, the device manager can only find the nvidia card and I cannot run any game smoothly on this computer.
Before I realized this possibility I've tried to download newer drivers for the nvidia card, but it didn't help.

Please help me to get my ADM HD 6870 1GB GDDR 5 to run!
I'm trying to google for solutions, but I'll give this site a shot.
Thanks!

A:Graphic card isn't found. Only finds my integrated graphic card. Help!

first check they havent stolen you GPU
then check that the 4/8pin pci power supply is plugged into the top left of the motherboard.
then check the gpu has power cable(s) plugged in.

I REALLY WILL STOP SURFING PORN NOW

pops up new ie windows (not tabs) that link to random sites, often unknown search engines showing results for last string searched on google, often for other random things (news 6 live, adfat, sals barbershop). seemingly benign.

After some time of this, more serious infections occur, including antivirus soft, many others.

Malabytes will knock out what it brings in, but not kill the initial infection.

have run malabytes in safe mode, safe mode + neworking, and mutiple times after knocking out later more malicious infections in both safe mode and regular. Sometimes picks up a few stragglres, sometimes not. But in all cases I still have the original thing which pops up a new ie window to some odd thing and presumably opens the door for the rest.

Any help greatly appreciated, and, really, despite any other sex life to speak of, sad though that may be, I will leave the porn sites alone after this.

I've been trolling the forums here for a while. Lots of great info but now I actually have an issue where I need some assistance.

When I was booting one day last week I got a nasty BSOD when Windows was trying to load. Then on the next reboot Windows 7 said it couldn't load and needed to do the recovery OS option from the Windows 7 repair on the CD. Well, before trying that I did a cold reboot and it got back into the OS fine so I didn't think much of it. Now, I noticed Ghost shows the C: drive status as "Unavailable" and it can't back it up anymore. It does give me an option to restore from one of my old backups. I'm thinking the MBR got hosed up somehow or something like that. But I'm skeptical to run an MBR repair since I have that 100MB partition on my SSD where my OS resides.

This was about a week ago my Windows 7 started acting up right before the big patch Tuesday. I've been running it for over a year now and it's been solid. When I first set it up I installed it on my SSD (Intel 510 120GB) drive. One of the qualms I had with the install is Windows created a separate boot sector on the disk drive where it stored my boot files. This is known the the "system reserved" operating system files 100MB partition. Apparently the way to avoid this is to use a third party partition tool before doing the windows install. That way it will keep the Boot sector files on the same partition which is how I would of liked it for doing resto... Read more

I had to reformat my computer thanks to a handful of Trojans and of course, I am missing the Ethernet driver to connect. In the past, I had a friend set me up, but he never told me how to do it and he's gone in basic training so I can't ask for his help today.

I will have Windows XP HOME installed when I get the cash.

What I need is help figuring out where to look to find the model number to install the correct driver. I have tried the HP website and it does not work; My driver is built into the motherboard.

I currently have Windows XP Professional for English Students, it's my father's OS

Custom built by HP or a friend? See if you can tell us the model of the motherboard. Give us any name or numbers you find

I've just installed Windows 10 and experimented with the Groove music player. It finds all the songs but they are tagged Unknown Artist and Unknown Album. The songs appear fine in iTunes with the correct details and album art.

I reset Groove and made it scan the music directories again but the problem remains. Any solutions?

I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 on a 500 Gig hard drive with 3 partitions. The problem is I marked one of the partitions, not Drive C, as "active" by mistake.I done a Command Prompt to make it "inactive", but when I started the system up again it wouldn't boot.I used the Vista disk for the recovery process, but I got a message "Operating system unknown on (unknown) local disk" i tried fixing the problem with a command prompt "bootrec/fix boot" ,but nothing happened. When I look at the info in Command Prompt it doesn't show the disk partitions, just Disk 0.Also I can't repair because no Disks are listed to be repaired. If I look at the drive in "My Computer" it is full with a file system marked as "Raw" and it wants me to format the drive.I used "Recover My Files" software and it shows some of the documents that are on the drive, but doesn't show any recovery.I looked at some internet post about the message I got and partition and boot problems like I have, but at this point I don't to try any else to make it worse.I would do a reinstall ,but on one of the drives I have some stuff that wasn't backed up.I never thought about backing it up because it wasn't on the C drive.Any help to solve this problem would be appreciated. ..........Kumpie

A:Operating system (unknown) on unknown local disk

Welcome!

Try marking the C partition as active again, using the Windows method in my post here.

Then run Startup Repair from the repair disc. Hopefully it will see your installation.

Do these things supply enough juice? In my search I expected to find a molex adapter to add a 4-pin to the 20. I'm having some heavy-duty stability issues. Can I get an adapter or swap out the PSU?

A:20 -> 24 pin adapters

According to the listed specs for this power supply at newegg it has a 20 plus 4 connector for the motherboard. What else do you need?

Some power supplies have a 24 pin connector and some have the 20 plus 4 pin connector.

I recently bought a usb backplate adapter and wondered if a simular thing is avaliable with ps2 ports?

basically I want to add ps2 ports to a pc that has none

A:ps2 adapters

Sort of, that is if your motherboard supports it.

If you have a newer at motherboard it may have an onboard connector that allows you to attach an ATX form card, that gives you a ps/2 port and an infared and some other items.

As for the PS/2 keyboard connector you just need an AT-PS/2 keyboard adapter.

Cheers

When I use my ac adapter to run my dell notebook it gets really hot. I have replaced one adapter already. Is there a problem in plugging into a wall outlet and running the laptop? Should I remove the laptop battery first? Is this a hardware problem?

A:ac adapters

Hi mcklaw,

and welcome to TSG, I run a Toshiba laptop and the ac power supply gets pretty hot on that too. I dont think its a hardware fault, but how hot is it getting? Have you tried speaking to Dell about it, it may just be the norm. Ive recently purchased a Sharp laptop and you could fry an egg on its ac power supply after a couple of hours.

Kind Regards

khayman.

Hello,

I have been looking on ebay for a IBM thinkpad, and i was wondering if my ac adapter from my dell inspiorn 3500 would work with the thinkpad T23, should the ports match.

A:AC adapters

No. They will NOT match. And no, the voltage and amperage is different. You want a 16V 4.5A power adapter which you can find for cheap on eBay if you are patient.
The amperage is the critical component.
But the plug and socket definitely will not match. I have one of each on my lap as we speak, just to be sure.
The Dell is usually 90 Watt, 3.5 Amp, 20 V, or sometimes 90 Watt, 4.5 A, 20 V.

My parents have Windows 98 SE
I was away on vacation and god only knows what they did to their computer.
The internet does not work.
When we try to log on an error message comes up that say's:

E 0115: The program failed to locate a suitable adapter to make a connection. If you are using a USB DSL modem make sure the cable is plugged into your computer. It appears that you need to install an adapter into your computer. Refer to Windows Network Help Guide (which seems to be missing in action)

Another time I tried to log on it said: E 0049 failed to discover network adapters.

When I went into System Properties everything had a plus sign next to it except Network Adapters, Dial-Up-Adapter, Efficient Networks P.P.P.O.E Adapter (NTSP3) and Exsisting Ndis 2 Driver.

My parents only have one computer in their house.
Does anyone know what the problem is? and how I a can try to help them?
Like I said the net does not work at all and they are freaking because they are addicts.

Thank you very much,
Kathie

A:adapters?

I do tech support for my 90-year-old mother-in-law and I've learned the first thing to check is Start>Log Off. If it's blank after "Log off," click on it and log back on using whatever user name they've been using. Most of the time when my mother-in-law loses her internet connection, it's because she hit Log Off instead of Shut Down and then it logged her back onto that "blank" user account...and all settings were gone.

If that's not it, it sounds like the network card got uninstalled. If they're on broadband (DSL or cable) they need a network card. So the first step is to reinstall the network adapter.

I have the Olympus E-10. Great camera. Except, I am looking for something I don't think is out there.

I have two lenses for the E-10, the WCON-08B (wide angle), and the TCON 14B.

My question is can I attach the wide angle to the teleconverter with stepup/down rings? If so where do I buy them. I searched high and low for them. Can't find them.

A:E-10 Adapters

I think you want a bit of optical impossibility here....

I think some focal length issues, coupled with field issues come into play.

A conversion lens on a conversion lens on a lens .... I somehow don't think so?

I would uninstall them, reboot and see what comes back. Some of them may be due to software you installed.

Hi - I have a 2009 custom built system, essential specs:

W7 x64 Home Premium
Motherboard Gigabyte UD3R-SLI 6GB RAm
Intel i7 920 X58
2 available "PCI" slots

I'm not that great with the technicalities of computer "innards" these days - I haven't kept up for the past few years - so forgive me if the answers to these questions seem obvious to the enlightened!

I was recently given a USB 3 Samsung S2 640GB portable HDD, and figured I might as well add USB 3 capability to my system to take advantage of its potential speed. A bit of googling eventually referred me to the GA-USB 3 (Gigabyte) adapter, which I hope/assume would work with what I have, but I want to be sure. To establish that, my questions are:

Given my system, what type of USB 3 adapter do I need to be looking for? I have no idea if my PCI slots are PCIE or not, nor how to find out - various spec utilities just say "PCI". Can I assume that the slots are PCIE? If not ...

On the basis of the above, can I slot in a USB 3 PCIE adapter - was thinking of the GA-USB 3 (Gigabyte) but am wary of buying the wrong thing.

Any suggestions as to my best path to upgrade?

All gently given advice gratefully anticipated.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1. I ran HijackThis as you do and saw the following line which I removed.
Internet Settings, ProxyServer = 127.0.0.1:19876When running DDS in the dds.txt file I found these settings which may be unrelated but I cannot explain them.TCP: Interfaces\{5D969EFE-1A71-4BC0-950C-B6214B4FC1DD} : DHCPNameServer = 88.82.13.60 88.82.13.60When I found these items I ran CCleaner just to lighten the amount I needed to scan. Then I ran ComboFix and Malwarebytes Antimalware and found nothing. I then used GMER and removed a virtual cdrom that had been sitting on my computer long after Deamon Tools had been removed.
It is the proxy server that worries me. Doing a quick search of it there does seem to be a Trojan keylogger that will listen on that port.

Hello,
Ive a little bit of an issue with my internet lately. i have a little cousin thats staying over for christmas and he 'accidently' turned my pc off. when i turned it back on it went into startup repair did its bussines but then wouldnt connect to the internet. I opened device manager and under the Networking Adapters tab all the subtabs had a yello "!" sign beside them and in properties it said This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31).
i fixed my sweex wireless adpater by clicking on "update drivers" "search my computer" and " let me pick form list of device drivers on my computer" it worked for half of the "!" marks but for all the WAN miniports such as :
- Wan miniport (ip)
- Wan miniport (ipv6)
- Wan miniport (l2tp)
- Wan miniport (networking monitor)
- Wan miniport (PPPOE)
- Wan miniport (PPTP)

and microsoft torredo tunneling port it says "windows encountered a problem installin the driver software for your device". i can now go on internet but stuff like Windows live messanger wont connect :/

Please help

Thanks in advance

A:Networking adapters

I suggest you go to your motherboard manufacturer's website, download the NIC/LAN drivers and reinstall them unless you already have the motherboard driver CD.

I suspect your cousin did a bit more than merely turning the PC off accidentally but that's neither here nor there.

I want to build a new computer and one of the motherboards I am considering for a dual core intel is an intel motherboard in "mini-ATX" form factor.

Some of the cases I like are other form factors such as extended ATX and I was wondering if there are adapters available to put a small motherboard into a large case that is not built for the small board?

If so, where do you get them?

Thanks

A:Motherboard adapters?

You don't need any adaptors. Any ATX style case will support smaller type ATX boards, just not bigger sized boards.

A few days ago my computer managed to get a virus...well something happened that set my anti-virus blocking everything it needed to run properly. Whatever it was that happened resulted in me having to format my hard-drive and re-instal my opperating system (Windows Vista Premium x64 bit). Everything seems to be fine other than the fact that in Device Adapters it seems to be showing up that my Standard VGA Graphics Adaptor has an error (Code 10). Tried reinstalling Vista again but the same problem occured again.

Although I'm not a complete novice to computers I'm not that savvy with them either therfore after much googling I'm struggling to find anything that will actually fix the problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.
