Hello, we have recently purchased several HP Elitebook 1030 G1 notebooks. These come with Windows 10 out of the box, and no discs at all. HP seem to offer a Windows 7 recovery disc via drivers & downloads but this only seems to be for drivers and applications post-Windows 7 install. We still use Windows 7 (Enterprise x64) deploying via SCCM. As the laptop doesn't have a LAN port HP support suggested getting an HP USB-C to Ethernet adapter, but this doesn't seem to help with PXE boot. So moving onwards, I then attempted to do a manual install of Windows 7 x64 via USB. Initially it didn't even boot without turning off secure boot and turning on legacy boot. As the laptop has an M.2 ssd it is not even found by the setup process. I have now gone through adding sata and usb3 drivers via dism to boot+install wim's and also an MS hotfix for NVMe support (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2990941). Unfortunately after all this it is still not able to see the hard drive. Unless I am going blind I cannot see any information about this on HP Support. Has anyone done this on this model notebook or similar (ie M.2 ssd)? Thanks

We have HP EliteBook 820 G3 laptops and I need to create clean Windows 7 pro installation using the shipped OEM SLP - key. The key I don't actually have or the certificates for it as what I understood is the practice. Nevertheless I need to create clean Windows 7 pro installation for the machine and still be able to activate the windows with OEM invisible key shipped with the machine. I don't want any drivers or HP preinstalled software, updates, configurations or HP recovery partitions, or any such things. Is the following only way to prepare for such: https://blog.hqcodeshop.fi/archives/207-Transferring-Windows-7-OEM-license-to-a-new-hard-drive.html Lets assume I need to change the HD for the machine and recover the system without any pre saved certifications or keys. How can I active a clean Windows 7 installation for the machine again? Thanks for any advice.

Hey,

I have the above laptop and have already posted some different threads relating to the same problem however this one is more to give an idea of my progress to date in case I have missed something that is the root cause of all this crap. Here goes,

The machine comes with a 32GB mSSD drive and a 500GB HHD and have various options in the BIOS for using the drives in RAID or ACHP mode (apologies of I have used the incorrect letters but you know what I mean)

When trying to install windows the only drive you are able to install Windows 8.1 too is the 32GB drive which presumably is the mSSD , this is fine and the installation happens super quickly and boots within 10 seconds - once into Windows the 500GB HHD is visual and is empty read for my data etc. The problem lies in the fact that the newly created C drive which windows is installed upon have 2GB of free space which rapidly fills once the updates start to happen. This is something you have very little control over and just happens until you reach a point where the drive is full and the system just "stops".

Now, I thought that perhaps there was some drivers needed to activate some kind of "hand off" between the mSSD and the HHD so that windows always runs quick and smooth but the storage space is balanced however that just doesn't happen. The drivers have been downloaded from the HP site and are the correct ones for the laptop as I have used one of the HP automated tools which scans the machine ... Read more

Hi,

Please guide me how I can get a driver for my brother printer HL -1030 for Windows 7. I called Brother office in Canada and they say this printer is not compatible with Windows 7. Is there any other printer driver I can download and get my printer working.

Thanks in advance.

A:Brother HL-1030 printer driver for Windows 7

You should be able to use the XP drivers and install them in compatibilty mode.

Here's a link to the XP Home/Pro 32-Bit Drivers
Brother Solutions Center: HL-1030: Downloads: Others

To run the installer in compatibility mode:

Right Click Installer > Properties > Compatibility > Select the OS you want. (In this case, XP)

@BocaRay?, welcome to the forum. Here are the Software and Drivers Downloads for the computer for Win 7.  If you haven't done so, you should run HP and Windows Updates, also.  You should use HP Support Assistant to check for HP updates.  The latest version of HPSA is here. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Greetings,  I was wondering what to look for if I wanted to upgrade my 320-1030  in terms of a motherboard and CPU? I was contemplating upgrading the CPU to an A8-3820 on the existing board, but I now am wondering if it is possible to move to a faster CPU (which I am assuming would require a new motherboard  if that is possible).

Hi nmorrisonaz,

Not sure If any malware can do that.

But please do this. Click here to download Hijack This. Run Hijackthis.
Click the "Scan" button when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required. Someone here will be glad to advise you on what to fix.

*Note: When you download Hijack This Do Not download it to a temp folder or to the desktop. Create a permanent folder somewhere like in My Documents and name it Hijack This and put it in that folder.

I know I have the right money to build a solid performing one, one that can run games on high quality too. The only problem is, I don't know which parts to buy. I do know how to build it however. I would like some help selecting parts from you. One final point, I will want it for doing other stuff, not demanding just practical uses like searching and making documents etc. Thanks so much!

Hi, I hope someone out there can shed a little light on this situation as it's doing my nut in!

We have a network with 3 Windows 2003 servers and workstations all with XP. When the users log in a script runs which maps network drives and pushes printer connections etc. Also we have several group policies set which restrict pupils and staff in certain ways. Nothing drastic though. Just 'Cant see certain Control Pannel Items etc'.

Now all was working perfectly until a couple of weeks ago 2 staff members came to me and said "I can't get on the interenet or e-mail". I had a look and when they logged in on their normal computer it seemed to log in fine but then receieved a couple of "Cannot perform this action due to restrictions on effect on this computer" messages. This message also appears when they try to click on the Internet for example. On closer inspection it has run the scripts ok because I have the shared drives and printers. But the virus scanner which is sophos in our case hasn't loaded (it comes down from the server), also there is no All Programs in the start menu, or shut down.

If I log off and check the event viewer I have event 1030 there which refers to an error with group policy.

Now the most annoying problem is it appears completly random with it's timing. Usually a shut down and restart of the computer fixes it. Moving to another computer can also fix it. It dosent always do it on the same computers, other peolpe can log on to ... Read more

I am totally obsessed with downloading music, but awhile ago I attemped to download an upgrade to the basic Kazaa system. Once I had fully downloaded the upgrade I went to click on Kazaa and a message popped up saying," You have uninstalled a part of Kazaa needed to run and to close and reinstall." (I believe it was called error 1030, I'm not positive though) Anyway, I uninstalled Kazaa and reinstalled several times and the same message keeps appearing.I checked to make sure I had all the needed componets to run Kazaa aswell. I can't figure out what to do. I tried other music sources but I can't find one I like as much as Kazaa. If you know what I should do please HELP!!

A:Kazaa Error 1030, any adivse?

What I would do is:

1. Use a spyware scanner to delete all the spyware that comes with the Kazaa download
2. uninstall Kazaa using the JV16 power tool
3. Do a file search for Kazaa and delete all of the files that are found.
4. Backup the registry
5. Use Jv16 power tool to clean the registry.
6. If you want to and are brave enough, do a manual search for useless Kazaa keys in the registry (be sure to have a backup if you do this)
Reinstall the latest Kazzaa with all of its Spyware. (Perhaps you might want to try Kazaa Lite)

First up, hello everyone.

I have XP computers connected to a SBS2003R2 domain that is posting 1030 Userenv errors in the eventlog. I've not checked them all but three of them definitely are, so we can presume they all are.

Through Userenv.log, I've wiggled it down to two variants of:

USERENV(314.480) 21:50:37:892 ProcessGPO: CheckFilterAcess failed for <CN={C94DA5DA-A892-44ED-B77D-618A143ED5CC},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=[domainname],DC=local>. Filter not found

Followed by many of the following that correlate with the eventlog errors:

USERENV(318.868) 09:47:24:929 ProcessGPOs: GetGPOInfo failed.

My question is - whereto from here? OUs, GPO and the such is on the edge of my knowledge. It seems that if I can find what GPO is failing, I'm there.

A:Eventlog 1030 and userenv GetGPOInfo failed

I noticed my wireless 1030 is acting strange after getting BSOD(not the cause of Wireless but it was solved)and now I'm experiencing some problems, here are the issue. I'm worried if it is the NIC card

A:I'm having wireless Issues with the Intel 1030,Turning off by itself

It almost sounds like a nic driver issue. Have you updated it recently? Try to update, or roll-back if update did not work.
Replacing your nic should not be to hard depending on your device. Usually the nic is the easiest of the add-on boards to get to. But, I really don't think it's the nic. Were you changing, installing, updating anything with your hardware, operating system when this happened? If driver update/rollback doesn't work, try a system restore if feasible.

These event just started appearing a day or two ago, but they continue to repeat every 5 minutes:

Event 1030:
Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the event log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine that describes the reason for this.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Event 1058:
Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=bbpi-pdc,DC=billsblue,DC=com. The file must be present at the location <\\bbpi-pdc.billsblue.com\sysvol\bbpi-pdc.billsblue.com\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini>. (Windows cannot find the network path. Verify that the network path is correct and the destination computer is not busy or turned off. If Windows still cannot find the network path, contact your network administrator. ). Group Policy processing aborted.
They occur exactly every five minutes, and always in this order. I searched for the gpt.ini file it's looking for and found it.

I don't really have any group policies in place, just basic users and computers. Nothing fancy. And I'm afraid I don't quite understand AD enough to just 'experiment' until I make these error go away.

Any ideas and/or guidance would be welcome.... thanks

A:Event 1030 & 1058, repeating. Guidance?

One possibility:
As per Microsoft: "This behavior may occur if the following conditions are true: your Windows XP-based computer is a member of a domain, and the Microsoft Distributed File System (DFS) client is turned off (disabled). To resolve this issue, turn on (enable) the DFS client". See M314494 to find out how to do this. Also check M810907 for a hotfix.

The video card in my Pavilion h8-1030 died and I need to find a replacement. If possible, I'd like to upgrade the card at the same time to the best possible card that would work on this system, within on total $350 budget. Being overly optimistic and with a big dose of wishful thinking I had actually ordered a MSO GeForce GTX 970 , but before it arrived I read that it will not work as teh BIOS version cannot be upgraded to version 8. So I am sending that card back as soon as it arrives. I am unable to buy a whole new computer at this time, so I'm going to have to settle for a new GPU (and PSU if needed). I don't game but I do use Adobe CC 2015 applications, mostly photoshop adn lightroom but ocasionally also premiere and in-design. Before failing the old card was struggling with certian photoshop functions and video editing was slow and frustrating. This is why I would like to upgrade the GPU. Motherboard H-RS880-uATX (Aloe)Processor AMD Phenom II X6 1090TMemory 10 GBBIOS, American Megatrends Inc. 6.12 Is there a list of compatible GPUs? Thank you ever so much for your help.

A:what Video Card upgrades are possible for Pavilion h8-1030?

Hi, The version 6 BIOS in your PC is not compatible with many of the newer graphics cards.  You will need to use an older legacy graphics card in your PC.  The processor and memory in your PC are more than sufficient for most use. I suggest that you look for a NVIDIA GTX 660 for around $226 new on Amazon. You can find the GTX 660 on eBAY for a lot less.  You will also need to replace the power supply. The Corsair CX650m should be around $55 after rebate.

hello, first off i have scanned with adaware pro se, spybot, and h2, also mcafee antivirus and a couple of online scanners--this is what remains

i have some pesky files burrowed into my pooter, i am pretty sure the files in the temp folder are bad....but when i search for the executable, all i can find are prefetch files....i think the prefetch files are generating the temp files...

i have used msconfig to stop some files from statring, and that has stopped an error screen that displayed this message at start up everytime:

rundll egdhtml-1030 dll error

i reactivated them in msconfig for this logfile...

also- whenever i turn on the computer, it frezzes up after booting to windows, i found that killing all the rundll32.exe files make it able to run again!!!!!!

so they must be bad, too...

here is my log, thank you very much for any help!!

It's a Hp Elitebook Folio 9470m. With 250Gb SSD and 8Gb RAM (upgraded), i7, Windows 10 (Upgraded from 8).
It was sent to service at HP for heating and broken ethernet port. As it came back, we found the ethernet is still not working and the problem was that the only account on it was a guest account. So we had to reset the Windows 10 from sign screen (Sign in Screen>Shift+Power>Restart>troubleshoot>Reset this pc). After that it gave the administrative account and the ethernet also worked finally but in 5 minutes, a BSOD happened (Critical process died). And since then the laptop is giving the infamous HP error -

Boot Device not found
Hard disk error (3F0)
Please install an OS on your harddisk.
Press F2 for System Diagnosis.

A quick check showed the RAMs are good. But the hdd check showed not smart tool installed. (Well obviously it can't find the hdd at the first place).

Tried changing the UEFI mode to Legacy as advised in numerous sources online, and also tried UEFI Hybrid and UEFI Native but no progress. Can't open and replug the ssd as we don't have the necessary equipments to do that right now. Also can't reset the BIOS to defaults because Hp's instruction is not matching with their own BIOS. This card supports 802.11n. Obviously... it's right in the name, plus device manager>network adapters>Intel Centrino>Advanced tab clearly shows n enabled.

But can anyone take a second to tell me, if you know, why when I run the command netsh wlan show drivers, "radio types supported" shows only b and g, and NOT 802.11n ??? Confusing to me.

Hello,

I'm having a strange problem. Intel released new drivers to update from version 15.11 to 16.11. I downloaded them from Intel website, ran install, success. When I go into Device Manager to check on the driver version, I see it is still 15.11. I have tried a number of things, including deleting the drivers from the Device Manager and running the install again. However, in this case Windows 8 automatically installs even older drivers, version 14, dated 2011. I'd like to try the new drivers because it takes very long for the net to comeback after I wake up my laptop. Version 15.11 was installed by Windows Update, those drivers are dated January 2014.

Hello,

I sent my computer in for repairs a while back and now the wireless card won't work. It can't find any signals unless I plug in the one from my desktop. I went to computer/properties/device manager and saw that the wireless card (Intel (R) Centrino (R) Wireless-N 1030) has a yellow "!" next to it. The properties tab says, "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)".

I have tried searching for new drivers automatically but it says they are up to date. I downloaded the latest drivers directly from Intel and tried to manually update them but it said that the drivers are up to date again. This problem occurs whenever I update my computer. I did a system restore and it worked fine for about a month, but once it updated it did the same thing again. There is no restore point to go to this time, so I'm stuck.

Anyone know what I should do?

Thanks

I have a relatively new (few months) laptop of my own running Win7 x64 with an "Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030" wireless network adapter. For some reason, I have serious problems connecting to most wireless networks. On my home network there are rarely problems, but when I attempt to any other network (college, or public hotspot, or neighbor's open wireless) there are often issues.

By "issues" I mean: when I first attempt to connect to the network in question, I'm usually able to connect to the first few sites I try to access, but usually after a second or a minute or a few minutes of normal connectivity, I'm suddenly unable to access anything. The browser's response is that DNS lookup has failed; when I record an IP address (via ping-command prompt) and type it in manually after this point, the browser's response is that "##.##..." is taking too long to respond, etc..." No other program is able to connect either. I have tried setting different DNS servers but it has had no visible effect. At this point, the only thing I can do to reconnect is to either wait a long time for the connection to reestablish itself (which can take an hour or more and isn't guaranteed) or to go to Device Manager and disable and reenable the wireless adapter, which then *sometimes* allows me to reconnect for a few seconds or a minute or an hour before connectivity breaks again. When the connection fails, Windows displays the computer ... Read more

A:Unreliable connectivity - Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030

I had the same issue too. My GF's laptop has a 1030 wireless NIC and it had all sorts of issues connecting to the APs in my house. It would work fine with her Linksys wireless router and my Sprint MiFi. But had connectivity/performance problems when connecting to either of my Netgear APs (WG102 and WNDAP350) along with my PC W 620 wireless controller with AP 105 and AP 125 access points. Updating the drivers helped the problem somewhat, but we were still experiencing dropped packets or extremely high latency when connected. Upon a suggestion from one of my coworkers, I tried adjusting the performance/power settings in Windows and that seemed to have fixed the problem. The laptop has been running fine ever since.

Hello, Wireless functionality was lost on my HP Pavillion dv7t-6c00 laptop when I upgraded to Windows 10. Here's what I have in my laptop now: Manufacturer: Intel CorporationDescription: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030Driver version: 15.11.0.8 I've read some support threads on this topic and it seems that this wireless card is not supported by Intel in Windows 10. I've also read that one suggestion is to replace the wireless card with an Intel Advanced-N 6230 wireless card. I tried to replace the wireless card prior to upgrading to Windows 10 with an Intel Advanced-N 6230 wireless card but the wireless card I purchased seemed incompatible with the laptop, as it gave me a Halted screen when I started up the laptop.  So my frustration is I would gladly and easily replace the wireless card but I can't keep purchasing cards that are incompatible with the laptop. What are my options?  Is there a specific/guarenteed HP Laptop compatible part number that I can purchase?   Even better, is there a link to where I can purchase a card that will definitely work? Thank you ver much,Chris

I used a copy of windows 7 professional to wipe the system because I was giving it away. I have the operating system up but can not access the network card to access the internet. I've downloaded the drivers on the software page but get the message that the file is not compatible with the system. I see the recovery disk I can order, but was hoping to find an image of the recovery disk that I can download and burn to a disk myself. Overnight ordering still has a statement about it taking 2 days to process first. Is there another area online that I can get the recovery disk downloaded? Serial number: 3CR2160C7B Thanks in advance.

There is a list on pp 6 and 7 of the following manual:           http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03099448.pdf You can use USB wireless adapter, this will cost you one USB port       http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/c/technology/networking/wireless-usb-adapters     (Note: much cheaper from other countries). Regards.

A:Elitebook 840 G3 can't install Windows Enterprise?

Found the solution!! After talking to HP Elitesupport, I found out that Intel removed USB 2.0 chipset support from theie Skylake chipset.  Meaning that normal USB installs for windows will not work.    Microsoft Windows ISO doesn't have the native USB 3.0 drivers either.   So you have to add the USB 3.0 drivers into the Windows ISO.    Intel came through on tihs one too.  They have a utility that does all the work for you.   https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility Run this and point to your USB Installation media and shazamm!!

When will the windows 10 upgrade become available for the 8460p (and 8560p)? There are no windows 10 drivers listed at all for this series and Im guessing thats why the upgrade isnt enabled. I'm thinking of forcing it and finding the drivers myself. Anybody with any experience of this?

A:Elitebook 8460p Windows 10 drivers.. when?

Ditto on this request.  I've been fighting a restarting issue where the screen blinks just as Windows 10 is booting up after the upgrade.   I had to do a clean install and encountered the same situation after I installed the Windows 8.1 64 hotkeys drivers (since Windows 10 drivers/software don't exist).  I had the presence of mind to create a Restore point for each item I loaded.  The J-Micron driver for SD card reader, the 3D drive protection sensor, the Intel Active Management Technology (shows up as PCI Serial port) and the fingerprint reader - all do not get recognized by Windows 10.  I have used the 8.1 drivers for SD card reader and fingerprint reader.  I can't find similar 8.1 drivers for the other two. (I don't need the 3D sensor as I've converted to SSD's, and the Intel function is for remote administration). Given that the hotkeys prove catostrophic, I'm hesitant to try any others.  (I believe the problem is with the auto brightness function that comes with the hotkeys.  Other fn keys work without this installation:  the sleep button, the up/down volume, num lk, prt sc). Windows 10 does make this old laptop sing.  It is fast.  But I'm worried something burried deep in the machine will come along and scuttle all the work I will need to put into it.

The past few days my computer has worked fine.  I've had it plugged in constantly and used it for nearly 4 hrs straight yesterday.   Today, I took it to school and plugged it in in their power strip tables.  It started up, but after abotu 3 minutes it shut off.  I pressed the on button.  No sucess.  I unplugged and replugged the cord.  Still no success.  I decided to move to a different table.  I plugged it in, but it shut off one more after around 3 minutes.  I unpluged the battery charger cord.  I plugged it in again.  I unplugged both ends ofthe cord.  I waited about 2 minutes, and pluggedi t back in.  Nothing worked.  I unplugged the cord form itself.  No success.  I took the battery out of the laptop and plugged it in.  Nothing.  It wouldn't turn on.  I put the battery back in.  As you can guess, there was no success.  I moved to a different table and plugged the cord into the wall this time.  Now it has been going for about 10-15 minutes.   I'm afraid this might happen again, though, or I might not be able to access the wall.  Any suggestions of how to prevent this, or ideas as to what the problem could be? Thanks!

A:8530p elitebook where are the windows 8 drivers

Hi: This is a consumer to consumer forum, so your ranting is only being seen by other HP consumers, not HP. From my understanding, HP will not be providing any W8 drivers for notebooks made before 2011, which the 8530p was (introduced in late 2008). I had no problem installing W8 on my 6930p which is the 14" screen model of yours. Everything worked using the drivers that came with W8, and the few W7 drivers I needed such as AMT.  All devices are installed in the device manager. MIne does not have a webcam, and I don't use the security software, but if you want to use the security software you can probably use the W8 protect tools software from an 8570p. I don't use a docking station, so I don't know what issues you are having with that. In any event, you will be on your own to sort it out, or reinstall W7. Paul

Hi: Intel removed USB 2.0 chipset support from the Skylake chipset.  This means that that normal USB or DVD installs for windows 7 will not work.    The Microsoft Windows 7 ISO doesn't have the native USB 3.0 drivers either.   So you have to add the USB 3.0 drivers into the Windows ISO.    Intel came through on this one.  They have a utility that does all the work for you.   https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility Run the above utility and point to your USB Installation media and windows 7 should install. There is a readme on the above link for instructions on how to convert your DVD into a bootable usb installation flash drive.

Hello,

I have a freshly installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my HP EliteBook 8540w laptop that is causing a huge amount of BSODs. I installed the OS personally only a couple of days ago using a retail Windows 7 DVD and downloading the very latest drivers from the HP site.

This laptop model (HP EliteBook 8540w) has a well known history of having an unstable Windows 7 video driver and in fact also my previous installation was unstable but previously I only experienced crashes that the OS managed without any BSOD ever occuring while now I'm having continuous BSODs.

It seems that a recent (automatic) installation of DirectX drivers caused constant BSODs during OS startup and I had to restore a previous stable version of the installation to be able to log back into the OS.

I have a couple of minidumps I'm attaching here.

Hello All  I've upgraded a friends Elitebook 850 G3 from the stock mechanical HD to a Corsair SSD.  All drivers are installed and the machine is running great, with the exception of the Wirelss Button.  When pressed the button activates/deactivates Bluetooth, instead of connecting/disconnecting the local wireless network as it did before.  I have looked for the Wireless Button Driver but can only find it for Windows 8 & 10. The system originally came with Win7 Pro 64-Bit installed and the button worked as described above.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks Paul

I acquired my work laptop from a former employer on the condition that the drive was completely wiped (no recovery partion or anything) and so I need to do a completely clean install. I have installed Windows 8.1 successfully from an external USB DVD. The system boots but many device drivers are missing, including both wireless and wired networking. From the HP web site I downloaded device drivers for this machine/OS combination. These downloaded files are .exe files. I put them on a USB stick so that I could transfer them to the laptop. I thought I would install them as follows: In windows device manager, identify network device, right-click, select "install driver", point windows at the directory containing the downloaded .exe files. This does not work. Windows does not recognise the .exe files as drivers. Q1: Am I supposed to execute each of these .exe files (ie, will that install the drivers, and will windows then figure out that they are present? Q2: Which of the 2.3GBytes of drivers do I need to install? If I install the network drivers will Windows be able to "look on the internet" and find all the other missing drivers? Q3: Is there some way of getting an OEM install disk that makes this whole process less painful? thanks in advance for any help and advice.

A:I can not find drivers for Windows 10 hp elitebook 2540p

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome ! Officially, your computer does not support Windows 10 as it is an old model. Only supported are Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7.>> http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=4138317 Windows 10 was not even created when Windows 10 arrived.Although not officially supported ,if you plan to install and test with Win 10, you can post the hardware IDs of the missing hardware and someone might be able to find some for you (but no guarantee). Instructions >> http://www.wikihow.com/Find-Hardware-ID Personally, I'd recommend you enjoy this computer with Windows 7. You have a wonderful notebook with excellent hardware configuration and nice operating system that will be supported by 2020. Fixing something that works usually breaks it

Hi folks! After the Aniversary Update of Windows 10 I have problems with my sound card. There are two sound cards listet by the device manager. The first one is "Conexant ISST Audio" and the second one "Intel High Definition Audio". I don't know wether this was the case before the update. I just recognized this after the update when I had the sound problems. Anyway, on one boot up the sound works on the other boot it doesn't work. It seems that Windows chooses the sound card every time when it start. Sometimes it takes the wrong sound card. I tried to uninstall both sound cards and reinstalling them. On the HP website there's a driver for the Conexant card bot no driver for the Intel High Definition Audio card. Windows 10 itself doesn't find a driver for this sound card. I also tried to reinstall other drivers, for instance chipset drivers. But unfortunately it didn't help. I also tried to deactivate the Intel High Definition Audio, but also without success. What else can I try? I don't want to reinstall Windows. There must be a solution without doing that. Any Ideas? Here's a screenshot of my device manager, maybe it helps: If you need any further Information, please let me know. Best regards,ty

Hello, I have an HP EliteBook 8530p that was doing fine until my boyfriend closed it whille I was in the process of downloading a music program. Now when I cut it on it says Windows failed to start it might be a recent hardware or software change. So it tells me to run start-up repair which I did for 4 days straight with no results.I can pull up all of my installed repair software but I cant get into safe mode and when I did that chk thing it said everytjing was ok except for a code 50.all my lights, fan, and hard drive are working.I bought it refurbished and it was already upgraded from Vista 2 WIN7 home premium.I have tried to get into my BIOS but it keeps asking for a password and I never eveb set one up.It says there are no recovery points or images to restore to and I dont have a Win7 disc but do have the license key on my notebook.Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cant afford any replacements.Thank you.

I have a few of this model in our comapny and we have upgraded a few of them to Windows 10. All the ones that were upgraded can no longer get wifi. They all worked perfectly in Windows 7 but as soon as 10 is installed they stop working. The confusing part is the wireless driver is there and says it is working properly. I have tried every network driver from HP's site and none of them make it work. I tried a BIOS Update and that didn't fix anything either. There wireless button that is usually next to airplane mode isn't even there.  Hitting the wi-fi button on the keyboard only turns off bluetooth and nothing else. I went into services, and the WLAN Autoconfig servies wasn't turned on and was set to manual. Turning it back on and setting it to automatic. That made the wifi button next to airplane mode show up finally, but its greyed out and you can't do anything with it. In the Network Connections panel the Wi-Fi shows up as a connection, but says not connected but shows green like it is ready to connect using the Broadcom 43224AGN 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 Wi-fi Adapter. Since this has happened to every model I figured it must be known issue somewhere but can't find a six still.  Please help!

Hi All,  I have an EliteBook 840 G1 with a docking station. When I have the laptop connected to the docking station the network is fine.  If I leave the laptop connected to the docking station, turn the laptop off and then undock it, and then turn it back on, once the laptop has logged on, it runs incredibly slow, and the CPU has a 100% usage. If I then reconnect it to the docking station or connect a wired network connection to it, it suddenly starts working normally again and CPU usage drops to a normal amount of usage.  So it's a wired network issue. Can I fix this? No I don't seem to be able to.  I can only find A temporary fix, which is to uncheck LAN/WLAN switching. This is not ideal as we need to switch to LAN when docked to access certain shared drives. Things I have tried:  Updating Network driversUpdating Docking station driversUpdating BIOsUninstalling Network drivers and reinstalling them Disabling network card and re-enabling it Updating the Windows 7 image Turning LAN/WLAN switching on and off (restarting in between)Updating Various other drivers that were long shots at fixing the issue.  Any ideas? other than turning off LAN/WLAN switching?

Hello Everyone, We have a Folio 1040 G1 running Windows 7 (64-Bit) and the mouse pad has stopped working in windows. If I boot into the BIOS then the mouse pad works there. So I've uninstalled and re-installed the Synaptics software/drivers (sp75235.exe)   and still no luck. Does the synaptics rely on other Windows 7 components that I may have to repair/reinstall? Thanks in advance.

A:EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 - Mouse Pad not working in Windows 7...

Although if could be a h/w issue, you mention the touchpad works within the BIOS to point around the menus. I would encourage you to run HP SDM (www.hp.com/go/sdm) and update all hardware drivers and BIOS (BIOS needs to be done by itself). That should help with your issue.  Do not install any other software suggested by SDM unless you know you use that particular tool

I just updated to Windows 10 (from Windows 8.1) and noticed that the built-in mouse buttons (the ones just below the spacebar) started working really erratically. When held down, they act likethey are been pressed down repeatedly like 10 times per second.  This of course could be a hardware issue, but they have been working OK for 2.5 years now and it would be quite of a coincidense if they would somehow break at the same moment when I install Windows 10. To demonstrate, I attached an image showing continuous lines drawn in MS paint while holding the mouse buttons down. The ones drawn with the built-in mouse keys are dotted, while other lines drawn with an external mouse are solid lines.  See image here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2130481/hpmousebuttonstutter.png  Interesting thing is that this behavior seems to be a bit random. Sometimes I am able to draw a solid line also with the built-in keys. The other built-in keys (just below the touch pad) seem to work ok, as does the touchpad itself. I downloaded and installed the latest driver from hp.com (sp72041.exe, version 19.0.12.0, date 11.6.2015), but it did not fix the issue. This is very annoying and makes it pretty much impossible to use my laptop without an external USB mouse. Maybe the touchpad driver is incompatible with Windows 10? Please let me know if you need any more details about my setup.

A:HP Elitebook 8570w, built-in mouse key stutter (Windows 10)

Update: I installed Synaptics driver version 19.0.19.1 from their site, the problem was still there. I still get dotted line and using the mouse is impossible.   HP: are you aware of this problem and are you working on this with Synaptics? I can use the mouse buttons OK if I uninstall the synaptics driver, but then I get another annoyance: the base of my thumbs accidentally hit the touchpad causing unintended clicks because without the Synaptics driver I cannot disable the touch pad!

Hi. We are currently having problems after upgrading 3 laptops to Windows 10 Enterprise (clean install). All the 3 models are Elitebook 850 G1 with Intel and AMD graphics cards, notebook has modelnr: H5G42EA#ABN. When the laptop booted from a HP 2013 ultraslim docking the Intel graphics card is reporting error 43, which means that when the user moves the laptop out of the docking station the monitor on the laptop is blank.I noticed today if I boot the laptop out of the docking there is no error with the graphics card (no error 43). I have tried uninstalling both graphic cards, installing the newest drivers from HP, from intel and AMD, tried older drivers from HP but no matter what we try it still boots with error 43 in the docking. Any suggestions for this error? RegardsAleksanderIT Consultant

I've seen this issue on two separate HP EliteBook 840 G1 laptops now, it's the same build, but different methods of installing Windows 10.The first was a straight 8.1 to 10 upgrade so there were a lot of variables to throw in there with preinstalled software/drivers and such. The second is a 100% fresh build. Clean install of Windows 10 x64 Enterprise.Installed each HP driver in recommended order.Installed all Windows 10 updates. I have 2 HP LV2311 monitors and an HP slim dock.840 G1 has the AMD Radeon HD 8750M as well as the Intel HD graphics. If I dock the laptop and power it on the 2 screens will work normally. If I undock the laptop while powered on and open the lid the laptop's display will never come on. I've tried to put it to sleep and wake it up, it does not work.  The only way to get the laptop screen to work is to do a complete shutdown by forcing the laptop's power off.  Once it's off I can power it back on and the laptop's display works properly. It works the same way the other way as well.If I have the laptop display on and then dock the laptop, the dual displays never display anything.  If I shut the lid without powering it down and put the laptop to sleep, the displays never turn on.  If I wake it up, the displays to not function.  Again the only solution to get the dual monitors to work once docked is to power the laptop down entirely and then turn the laptop back on.The laptop, dock and graphics are obviously not working... Hello! I purchased a refurbished elitebook 8440p with pre-installed windows 7, 8GB of RAM, 2.40 GHz processor.  I continued to refuse the windows 10 upgrade when it constantly popped up, and then one day I turned on the computer and it upgraded anyway without permission. Ever since the upgrade, if I shut down my computer, or try to put it in sleep or hibernate, when I go to wake it up or turn it on, I always get a blank screen. I generally have to turn it on and off several times before any start up screen will appear. Then half the time, when I do get a start up screen, my cursor is stuck at the top of the page and only moves left or right anytime I try to move it around. So, I have to turn off and on again until a new screen appears. I have investigated how to remove windows 10 and reinstall windows 7. I am past the 10 day or 30 day period. The media creation tool asks for the product key which I type in from the sticker on the bottom of the laptop, but won't let me go past the verification process saying to contact the manufacturer for help.  Apparently there may be specific drivers or something that were removed when it upgraded and the media tool doesn't want to allow me to create anything to let me do a clean reinstall of windows 7. I tried to find an f11 factory reset option after pressing esc at the start up screen. There was no option to do so. The best I could do was "reset" the computer, but it only took it bac... Read more

Hi, I am looking for help. I have a HP Elitebook 8440p that I recently upgraded to windows 10.  I also did a bios update from F50 to F60. All hardware drivers are found and installed. There are no errors in the hardware management window and everything is peachy. Today however, I discovered that my wifi isn't working. The wifi button seems to work, the little light goes from orange to blue and then my blue-tooth is working fine (I connected with my phone in a jiffy).  If I go to my network center and click the adapters, the wifi tile has a red cross and is not connected. When I click to connect, it sends me to the windows 10 network GUI with the wifi button. I tried to turn it on but it will not. It stubbornly refuses to turn on. The adapter in question is a Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN, I uninstalled it, en grabbed the latest driver from the Intel support site. But nothing changed. I tried to bridge the network adapter, and I tried to let windows10 do a troubleshooting run, and windows keeps insisting I should "turn on the wifi button" on the laptop, but it's already turned on, and blue, and the blue-tooth works. Since the laptop says all drivers are fine, and the wifi led on the keyboard works as advertised, I am kinda stumped why it refuses to work. Do I need some kind of driver for the wifi button? Any advice is welcome, thanks for your time. Transjuicer.
