I have the ENVY x360 model m6-aq103dx. I bought it because I was told it is compatible with the HP active PEN. I bought the pen and tried it, it didn't work. I called HP for the TENTH time to ask about the compatibility and set up. I was told the active STYLUS would work, so I bought the stylus. It doesn't work either. The packages list which computers the pen and stylus are compatible with; none of which list the ENVY x360. I would understand if the HP "techs" had told me that my computer is not compatible but instead they say "it may be if it has the right digitizers/driver/capability/etc." So do I need a different computer or is there a way to make this one communicate with either of the writing tools I have bought??More replies

I recently purchased the Spectre x360 (13-4003dx) along with the Bamboo Stylus feel Carbon. Unforunately, the stylus was not compatiable with the Spectre and I had to return it (after reaching out their customer support). I still want an Active Pen/Stylus for my Spectre to take precise notes with OneNote and I want to know which stylus/pen are compatibile with the Spectre (e.g. if the HP Active Pen J4R51AA#ABL is compatiable). Thanks!

Two days ago, I bought at Best Buy a Surface stylus and found out that it comes with battery and need to setup HP Stream x360 Bluetooth in order to have it work.
The stylus pen blinks when powered on. Setup of HP Stream Bluetooth took some time, then finally I was able to get a message that Bluetooth was able to recognize device.
At Best Buy, the staff said it works with Microsoft OneNote. I never used OneNote. It came bundled with Microsoft Office. I tested it out Surfce Laptop - Surface Stylus on OneNote and it works--fine lines, soft to the touch, bold lines also...
What else could it be, if HP Stream x360 is not able to detect a stylus pen?
-Damaged stylus pen
-Software for the stylus
-What the distance for Bluetooth
I also bought a stylus thinking that it's just a mouse touch pad. The one with an eraser. The eraser works, but I need to do some fine pen work and not blotches or when you used an empty air can to spray paint look.
It;s frustrating to find all these things and still have no stylus to use. If I am able to get the Surface Stylus to work, I wonder how long can I work until the battery goes dead.
I am currently using a mouse with Infrared, a USB connector and it's cordless for three years now.

I received my HP Spectre x360 - 13t-4200 CTO one week ago as well as a new HP Active Stylus. I purchased both directly from HP. I have tried four times with tech support to help me get the stylus to work. Despite being assured that the stylus in indeed compatible with this laptop, they have not gotten it to work. The only solution they have come up with is to reset the computer to factory settings wiping out everything I have spent hours doing to migrate to this new laptop. In asking them what doing the reset will resolve, they do not know, but that is the fallback answer. I have received so much conflicting and silly information from tech support staff who actually are not famililar at all with the problem. They have updated the Intel video drivers and attempted to install firmware for the 15" Spectre but still no success. Does anybody know the steps to getting the stylus setup? Thanks very much.More replies

Hello, I cant find a clear answer on what choices I have for a stylus that I can use for my laptop, the HP Envy x360 m6-aq005dx. Can someone help me by creating a list of compatible styluses? So I've been researching for a few months now but have still to no avail found a viable solution/answer anywhere I looked. I have been looking for a stylus to use with my laptop which is a 2-in-1 so I figured it should be able to use one. But if possibly I would really love it to be pressure sensistive so I can draw in Photoshop with ease. It doesn't seem that any pen has been actually tested on this device though: all the Wacom ones haven't been tested, some say the HP Active Stylus may work but everyone commenting have the Hp Spectre so I would like to have a definitive answer if someone wouldn't mind helping.More replies

Like so many posters here, I am now a among the ranks of those complainants that active pen Stylus will NOT work with this model. HP. Is there a simple answer, a a clear declarative sentence, for this reported problem by many, many buyers? Frustrating things more is a call to tech support. 1st call:. " I can confirm no pen Stylus will work with your model.". Then, "Checking further literature, only three models of touchscreen HP computers are compatible with a stylus". Next call to tech support on a hunch no two answers will be same. This time, "Oh, yes. I can confirm all touchscreen models are compatible with pen sylus". Me:. Are you sure. Second tech: "Yes, I assure you". Me: "Can you explain why the first tech stated none are compatible then found documentation that only three were and mine was not one of them?" Answer:. "No, don't worry. It is compatible". Me: "When "Pen and Touch menu is accessed in control panel, only provision shosing as active is 'touch', not pen. Does this mean drivers are needed or not activated unless stylus contacts the screen". Answer, "Yes". Me: "Which is it". Answer:. "Both". Hello, I've been using the Dell Active Stylus (750-AAGN) with my HP Spectre x360 for the past few months and it had been working great. Recently, the stylus stopped working, despite having new batteries in. I changed the batteries and still it did not work. It was the most bizzare thing, as it literally just cut out while I was writing and did not show any signs that it was defective beforehand. On top of that, I checked my laptop with an old Active Stylus that my laptop had always been able to recognize, but could not write with it because of a faulty tip on it, and my laptop did not recognize that pen as well. This leads me to believe that there is something wrong with my laptop (hopefully I am wrong about that). My laptop is fully updated and I checked for driver updates on the HP page for my laptop pertaining to stylus, but could not find something. PLZ HELP.

Hi Brian, HP Envy x360 Touchscreen Notebook has Capacitive screen, that means it responds to electro discharge when we touch the screen bare handed. So the Notebook screen will not repond/bare minimum respond to Pressure Sensitive HP Active Stylus as it works on the principle of Resistive where you have to apply little pressure. So You can check with a Capacitive Stylus as most of the Smart Phones has*. ****Click the White thumb to say thanks********Please mark Accept As Solution if it solves your problem********I am an HP Employee****

What's the difference between the HP Spectre x360 and the HP Envy x360? They both look the same. The only noticeable difference is that HP Spectre x360 has a Radiance Infinity display, while HP Envy x360 has an IPS display. Having the same specs, except for the display, why is the Spectre x360 more expensive than the Envy x360 ? Moreover, I thought that IPS is better than TN, which is my guess that is the technology used for the Radiance Infinity.
Hi, You've got few questions about those products. Well, come to a store and yoy can see the differences. Better still, you can buty 2 machines and compare. Hi, just ordered the Spectre x360 after a lot of googling around about it's active pen support. I haven't been able to find the official "HP Active Stylus" in my country (Norway), which I've read quite a bit of negativity about anyways, however I found one named "HP Pro Tablet Active Pen" (K8P73AA) which according to a reply by an HP employee in an older thread (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Spectre-x360-Active-Pen-Stylus-C...) is supposedly supported by the Synpatics digitizer in the x360. The official documentation however, has no mention of this. I've also read an overwhelming amount of feedback that a recent firmware update disabled the support for the Dell stylus which many apparently found success in, so this is another reason I am uncertain. Could this update have disabled the support for the other HP styluses as well? Before i go out and spend a lot of money on this pen I was wondering whether someone has tried the HP Pro Tablet Active Pen themselves on the x360, or whether any HP employee could confirm this compatibility. Again, this is the black stylus (K8P73AA) (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/tablets/product-detail.html?oid=7530365) im looking at, not the silver/white one found here: http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-active-penThe lack of synaptics-supported styluses (and documentation thereof) was almost a real deal-breaker for me since im going... Hello I am having alot of trouble finding good advice and a list of compatible devices for my X360. After reading alot of forum posts I purchased the Dell Active Pen PN556w which was said to work with the laptop and be excellent. I have bought it and it does not work. I have purchased two HP Active Stylus Pens, the first from Best Buy and the second from HP.com. Unfortunately I have not been able to get either to work with my HP Pavillion 360 13" Windows 10 laptop. The symptoms are as follows: I pop the battery into the pen and move the pen towards the screen and . . . nothing. Nothing happens. This pen is also supposed to have the ability to magnetically attach to the laptop screen but that doesnt happen either. I does not show up in the Bluetooth devices as well. I took the pen into Best Buy and had their tech support guy look at it and their diagnosis was that it was a bad pen. All they could do was refund my money as THEY NO LONGER SELL THAT PEN! GRRR. So I logged on to the HP site and chatted with one of their sales reps to confirm this pen is compatible with my PC before placing another order, however I am still getting exactly the same results, which are a BIG FAT NOTHING. The PC does not recognize it at all. What is even more frustrating is that I cant even call anyone beause the tech support line does not recognize the pen's product code. I hope someone call tell me what I am doing wrong because I do long this pen and would like to use it. Please adviseMore replies

I have an HP Active Stylus Pen to use with my Spectre 360. How do I get it to work?More replies
I have a Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 Touchscreen laptop. I wish to know whether a Dell Active Stylus would work with my laptop, which currently runs the latest version of Windows 10.
If YES, would I be able to effectively draw / write using this Stylus.
If NO, please suggest Styli that works best with this laptop.
I really need help with this because I use my computer and stylus for class. For the last week, my HP Active Stylus has not worked with my HP Spectre x360. The touch screen works, I've updated everything based on what the HP support assistant said, I have replaced the battery in the pen, and my computer still does not recognize the pen at all. I've been searching other messages for help but I can't find anything. So someone please tell me what to do to get my pen working on my computer again. Thank youMore replies

I bought a Dell Active Stylus for my HP Spectre x360 13 inch model because of the generally better reviews than the HP Active pen. When the pen first arrived I had some trouble using it but it started working just fine after about 10 minutes of struggle. I used it two times after that without any trouble. But a week after that when I tried again, it just stopped working. The pen is not recognized by my laptop at all.For the 15 inch model, there is a 'Touchscreen Controller Firmware Update' available on the HP website that says ' Provides active pen support'. But no similar firmware update available for 13 inch model.I am not even sure what happened here since everything was working fine and now it's not. A firmware update would be a probable way to fix it.Any ideas?More replies

I have a HP Spectre x360 15t and my Active Stylus will not work. I have read a few articles stating that this is an issue with Windows 10. I spent some time updating the BIOS and the pen still does not work. Is there any driver or update coming out soon for this pen to function like it did with 8.1 on 10??
You should check for driver update or missing driver through hp support assistant or through hp support website( link below). I saw the Aspire Active Stylus V (Part# NP.STY1A.005) in the Acer store and wanted to buy it to use with the Acer R13 (R7-372T-77LE) laptop, since the R7-372T is listed as compatibale for this stylus. I am wondering if anyone has this stylus or has more information than what is one the product page. Does it work well enough to take good handwritten notes?Does the Active Stylus V have palm rejection (so that I can set my wrist on the screen while using the stylus)? What technology does the Active Stylus V use, is it synaptics, N-trig or Wacom? What is the difference between the Active Stylus V and the Active Stylus II (tech wise)?

I currently own the HP x360 and I have been searching the internet for an active stylus that will work on my computer that has palm rejection. I first ordered the Dell Active Pen PN556W because I read online it was better than the HP Active Stylus. I had to send it back though because it would not work with my computer. The customer service rep that sold me the stylus said it would work with my computer but later when I called back, I discovered it only works with Dell computers. I then picked up the Wacom Bamboo Omni from Best Buy. The stylus works but it doesn't have the features I want such as palm rejection and pressure sensitivity. I am also having a problem when the stylus is not picking up all the lines I write. It said on the box it was for iPhones and Androids so that may be the reason why it doesn't work well with my computer. I am not faulting the pen for that issue. I finally ordered the HP Active Stylus. I received the stylus today and I am having issues with it. The tip of the stylus does not write on my screen, but I am able to write on the screen with the butt of the stylus. I called support about this issue and they told me that I could either pay for support or send the stylus back. I tried calling to send the stylus back and the line was closed. I don't like HP's business practices, so I will not be buying another product from them again. It is ridiculous&nbs... Read more

Can anyone help me out with printing to my Epson Stylus Pro 7000 from windows 7 64 bit?
There is no Vista or windows 7 driver available so I have tried running the XP driver in compatibility mode but I don't think it likes the 64 bit OS.
Is there a generic print driver that might work? Any suggesgions would be great!
Welcome to windows seven forum: Unfortunately it looks like your going to be in the market for a new printer. How old is your printer? I only ask since I see drivers going back to win 95. The XP driver is dated 12/10/01. Fabe8 more replies

I see that it is listed as a highlighted feature on the Spectre x360, but nothing listed here besides that it is a touch screen. I bought an Aspire R7-317T a few months ago, and it came with the acer acive stylus. I used it initially, and then didn't use it for about 2 months. When I have gone to use it now, the point of the pen registers on screen with both touching and hovering, but doesn't actually complete the action - so I can't write or use the mouse capabilities for it. How do I fix this?
Have you tried changing the battery, and then run the calibration using the Tablet PC Setting tools in the Control panel6 more replies
Hello, I just bought new Inspiron 7359 with Active Stylus because "SALES REP SAYS IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH ANY DELL COMPUTER WITH TOUCH SCREEN."
These screenshots are the proof of chatting with customer rep. ( Apparently, I do not have original conversation, so I chat with other reps again)
I was really exited about active stylus because I saw this review:
Apparently, it is not working at all.
First, I though I received the active stylus, which is dead on arrive.
So, I went to Bestbuy with this stylus. It worked fine with Venue 11 and 8. (NOT INSPIRON SERIES)
Also, my device manager does not have "HID COMPLIANT TOUCH PEN" or some digitizer drivers too.
Of course, I talked to technical support rep, and she told me that my computer is INCOMPATIBLE with the active stylus. ( I do not understand how this guy also said inspiron 13 7000 is compatiable. Link to the forum: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19614567
Does anybody have exactly same problem with me?
How did you solve it?
Should I just talked to rep to return this?
I am very disappointed with Dell.
Exactly the same problem here, watched the same review, read the same forum post and even confirmed compatibility in Dell Chat! Also spoke to Tech who says it is incompatible and advised to contact Customer Care, so I am also unresolved atm.
Really needed a decent pen for Photoshop use, so yeah, I'm a little disappointed too and would like a solution.

I have a new hp pavilion x360 15-bk010nr and am tying to get a hp active stylus to work. Anybody no if this is a waste of time? ThanksMore replies
I was reccomended somewhere in the community about the Acer Aspire Active stylus should work with the Aspire R5-571T (or R15). Everything downloaded properly, but when attempting to download the Setup Wizard for the driver that claims to work with devices with Windows 10 pre-installed (which, in my opinion should include the R15 considering the Aspire 13 as well as Switch 10 + 11 are compatible) it simply would prompt me to uninstall it as soon as the content was downloaded onto my computer. My only other option was to cancel, which would prompt an error message. My next step was to attempt to use Setup.exe file which prompted me to code the driver myself...? Is there anything that I can do about this? Whether it be copying and editing the code to work on this system, or just.. anything? Because I'm pretty upset considering it's 1080, it's brightness measures at 310 nits, and it apparently can display 109 percent of the sRGB spectrum, and the whole reason I bought this laptop is because I was told it would be perfect for art (I'm a student). Any advice is appreciatedMore replies

Hi @threadfin410?, What email are you using (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo...)? And are you accessing it in an Internet browser? Do you access the same email account on any other devices? When the messages are deleted, can you still find them in your Deleted/Trash folder? Any additional info would be helpful.3 more replies
Hello. I have just bought this notebook and I searching on google i noticed it has an internal M.2 port next to the HDD, and in this hp official manual it mentions M.2 SSS support, but not for this specified model. How do i check compatibility ? (mostly with BIOS). It would be awesome if i could add a SSD without loosing the 1TB hdd. Thank you.More replies

I just purchased the HP spectre 360 (15 inch screen) with 16 GB and I7 process. I purchased the active stylus stylet actif pen. The directions say you simply put the pen to the screen press or tap and it will begin working. Well it hasn't. I have googled everything, the driver is installed, I calibrated the screen. My finger works to write, but the pen does nothing. What can i do to trouble shoot the issue? Yes, before anyone thinks i am a complete moron, I purchased a new battery.

It should be an easy thing to do. Contact HP Sales with my computer information, order the accessory I would like to purchase. Turns out, not easy at all. So I'm asking here: does anyone know of an Active Pen that will work with the Spectre x360? I just purchase a HP Spectre x360 and the HP Active pen from Best Buy. Great laptop but I have noticed that I need to press VERY hard before the pen responds. If I don't press hard, then pen strokes appear very light. When I cross H's or T's the cross doesn't register. If i put the laptop in Tablet mode, then I can get the letters to appear as expected. But when Writing on the screen in regular "laptop" mode or "Tent mode", the letters appear as "chicken" scratch I didn't find any settings for adjusting the Pen's Sensitivity in windows or one note. I would prefer that the pen behave more like a finger. Just more precise.
I've heard better review for the Dell Active Stylus (the one with aluminum top half). It has worked great for me and I heard it has better sensitivity.9 more replies
Hi, I'm having trouble with Windows Hello. When I first purchased my notebook, Windows Hello was working fine, I had set it up correctly and had been using it successfully for a couple of weeks. Now, it's suddenly not working, and when I try to configure it in settings, there's an error that it cannot find the camera. I've been through the support blogs/forums and tried everything I could find, i.e. updating the software drivers, updating bios, restarting, etc. I have no idea how to get it working again. I can still unlock with my pin/password but it's just inconvenient when it was so quick to use Windows Hello before. If anyone can help that would be fab! CheersMore replies
