Hey, I cannot update to the latest build of Windows 10. I'm still stuck at build 10240.

Can anyone help me to update without having to reinstall programs, apps etc.?

You do not mention what error you get trying to update. Can you provide your Computer model and  message you get when you try updating to the latest Windows 10 version?
Below is a link that may help you get it installed.

I'm currently running the initial version of Windows 10 and i'm planning to do the november upgrade release soon. However, anybody has an idea if your system will be faster when you do a clean install with the november update instead of an upgrade? (similar to the speed difference when installing the clean initial version instead of upgrading from W7)?

A:Windows 10 November update, fresh install or update

Hi.
The difference of W7 > W10 upgrade vs. W10 clean install is substantial.
The difference of W10 10240 > W10 1511 upgrade vs. clean install is pretty negligible, IMO.

Hi all, really hope someone can help here.
Does anyone know if the ISO for the November update is still available anywhere?
Had major problems with the AU update. Really don't think it was ready for release to be honest :( Windows 10 AU Fonts issue (NexusFont, Suitcase Fusion etc..)
Have since tried on my tablet and run through desktop remote sessions with Microsoft but no joy, and all they have seemed to suggest is that these programs are not compatible with Windows 10. Pretty shocked that it has affected all font management apps I have used across two machines. Really never thought there would be such compatibility issues between 10 and 10 AU.
Anyway seems until anyone acknowledges the problem and stops passing the book, my only option is to revert back to an older release. I have the OEM 10 disk so could go back to the RTM but really would at least want to get back to the November update. The MS rep pretty much said that this wasn't possible via Windows Update as it would be rolled up into 1607 :(
Any help appreciated!

Any help appreciated! November update isn't available through Microsoft websites but you can find the ISO on 3rd party websites hosting the ISO. i hesitate to mention where( i guess you got he hint) but thats where i got he iso to roll back from AU. ;D
why not use the OEM disk and update it to the current build, that will be less resource consuming ;)

I'm having no luck installing KB2977629 (Cumulative Security Update IE11). I repeatedly get the error 8007371B.

SURT installs with no errors. SFC /SCANNOW runs with no errors. I am uploading the requested screenshots and ZIP file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!!!!

PS- well, I WAS uploading. My screencaptures upload great, but my CBS.zip fails with "Server error 500".
My zip file is 9.6mb-- over the 8mb limit. What can I delete from the directory to get under the 8mb limit?

Long story short, my pc is still at build 10240 and whenever i update it on the setting it says up to date.

A:Not Getting November Update 10586

You can download iso from here, double click on it and run setup.exe

Tech Bench

However, you will need to upgrade to new anniversary version soon (Aug 2nd).

If no big deal, I would wait until then and do same.

I went through the process of updating my pc and everything went fine. The system did the updates, it got through all the screens. I got back to the desktop and suddenly I got a BSOD. The BSOD was really bad as BSOD goes, every time the computer would get to the login screen and play the start sound it would crash and give the same blue screen; this happened every time it restarted.

I tried doing a repair and Windows 10 was useless in that respect. Sadly I never set up restore points and had none to go back to. So I did a quick reinstall (option 1 where it saves your files)

After I had finished the quick repair (reset I think) something seemed off, one thing I noticed (small bug bugged me) was when the spinning dots came on during first boot up the screen and keyboard would black out, and when it returned the quality of the spinning dots was not as clean. Updates seemed slow (that might have been normal after a reset) But regardless in the moment I decided to do clean install (remove everything). After finishing I then went and updated all my drivers.

Problem Today : Now the problem is when I first start my computer it crashes, and after it restarts from that BSOD it lets me in fine. It also still has the same bad quality spinning dots (ie bad anti aliasing?) that it did not have prior to that update.

Have you checked your update history? some computers had troubles updating if it failed three times it would not try and install or even show it in updates again.

Hi all,

I've not been able to find a permanent fix for this so thought I'd join up and post on here....

MS Edge (used rarely!!) has stopped working since the November update has been installed. Oddly it works if I point it directly to a proxy (we use a bluecoat appliance at work) but if I don't, the packets don't even hit our site FWs. If I stop the windows FW service then it works perfectly and the packets(requests) are sent directly to our site FWs as expected and I can see it all on the FW tracker.

IE and chrome are not effected and work fine either way.

Has anyone else come across this? We're not deploying windows 10 right now so it's not causing a major problem, I'm just interested to see if anyone has been able to resolve the problem or has an idea as to what could be the issue. Obviously leaving the windows FW service stopped and disabled is not favourable for when clients are not on the LAN.

Thanks.

Damo.

A:MS Edge not working after November Update

I guess you have already checked that Microsoft Edge is ticked in the allowed apps for Windows Firewall but that would be my first thought.

Has anyone experienced any problems with the above Windows 7 update. On my system (Windows 7 Professional 64bit) it caused a system freeze with a flashing cursor at top left corner. Power button and reset button frozen. After 20 minutes the only way I could get the system back was to pull the mains plug for 10 seconds - it then recovered and installed updates. First problem I have experienced with fairly recent build computer (I7 processor).

Be sure to uncheck the Bing Bar install option.

Seems if you're running the Windows 7 SP1 RC you don't need it, says version is already up to date.

Isn't a newer version. Still same old June package. Not sure why MS shows it as an updated version, maybe just to get you to install Bing bar.

Do you have a Nvidia video card ??

the MS opencl.dll is over-written by the Nvadia opencl.dll

thus the cause of that certain error..

it appears to be the normal results - and until the dll is addressed by MS - it will be the correct result..

Do not worry about that error for now,,

Hi,
I updated my pc 10586.17 with mct, because it failed every time while trying to update from update centre.
After finish to update when boot screen gone, there was nothing just black screen, instead of login screen.

I booted it safe mode with networking, it's fine but I can do nothing in here, just remove vga driver wher i foun ati or amd in programs, system32 etc.. Then reboot it again with normal mode, I saw login screen for a moment then disappeared ):

I tried recovery and found nothing, then tried swipe all data (because I was really tired of that) there was a warning about unable to swipe due to my users directory in different hdd-partition.

I tried lots of time to remove drivers and install new one or without install, every time I've failed, how can I fix it? I cannot use my pc for almost a week.

edit: and is it normal to disappear settings when I click the update and recovery on safe mode?

Hello,

This computer specifically is the only one in my house which is not receiving the November update (Threshold 2 or version 1511, whatever you want to call it)
When checking for updates in Windows Update, it always says it's up to date.

Any reason why this happening?
Two laptops and another desktop (that desktop got upgraded from windows 8 tot windows 10 two days ago and it already has it) did receive the November update, so this issue is not bound to my region not having the update received yet.
I upgraded this PC from windows 7 to 10 back in august, so it is has nothing to do with the 1-month-thingy (not receiving november update because you only upgraded to win10 less than a month ago)
It's running Win10 Home and not Win10 Pro, so it doesn't have that option to postpone updates.
Thank you for your time and effort.

A:November update (1511) not arriving

Can't tell you why it's happening, but can provide a solution:

Greetings,

I have a bunch of questions about this big November 10th Windows Update. I have not been able to get good consolidated answers on-line. Please help:

1.) As Windows 10 Updates automatically, what will I see on the screen when the update is ready to install, if anything?

2.) Will the update install at a time when the user is not using the computer?

3.) Is there any prep work that Windows 10 users need to do?

4.) When should we expect the update?

The KB3081424 have been rolled out today for Windows 10, and it's a Cumulative Update. It'll update a lot of files that are coming out in users' SFC and DISM scans as corrupted. Installing it could fix these files, so I suggest you to install it.Cumulative Update for Windows 10: August 5, 2015This update includes nonsecurity-related changes to enhance the functionality of Windows 10 through new features and improvements.Windows 10 updates are cumulative. Therefore, this package contains all previously-released fixes (see KB 3074683). If you have installed previous updates, only the new fixes that are contained in this package will be downloaded and installed to your computer.

Hi all,

I still haven't got the November update for windows 10. Ive recently signed up to seek advice. Windows update simply keeps saying the window 10 1511 has failed etc etc, so I tried the media creation tool which does its first step to 100% and then it disappears and im left with a small box that says something happened. Next I download the ISO, and I get to the same point of the process and the same 'something happened' box! Next I thought I would reset my installation but keep my files.........does its thing for about half an hour and windows restarts and loads back up 'there was a problem nothing has been altered'. Is there anything else I can do, I really dont want to back up my system Ive got tons of stuff.

Thanks in advance!

Speccy Update Fixes Windows 10 Issues, Will No Longer Be Removed During November Update Install

Version 1.29.714 comes to address compatibility issues

Speccy is one of the apps that got impacted by compatibility issues when users performed the upgrade from Windows 10 build 10240 (the July RTM version) to the November Update released last month.

But thanks to an update released today, Speccy should now work smoothly on Windows 10 November Update too, so the app will no longer be removed when installing the new update if you are already running the new version.

Speccy 1.29.714 comes with improved support for the latest Intel Skylake and Broadwell processors, but also improves Windows 10 compatibility, so if you?re among those who previously used the app but lost it when installing Threshold 2, this is the version you need.

When I go to power off there is an option to update. I choses to update and restart. The computer configures Window 7 for the update. It restarts and I get a screen that says" Working on updates 0% Don't turn off your PC. This will take a while."
Well for the past hour the percentage remains at 0 percent. I am stuck because this happen last Oct and after 6 hours I had to do a hard boot. I am at a lost. I have an Dell All-in-one touch screen computer.

Thanks

Can someone out there help me with this very annoying problem please?
Today i went to Settings>Security & Update>Check for Updates Now and i keep getting the same message that reads like this: We couldn't connect to the update service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure that you're connected to the internet.
What the hell does that mean? I am most definately connected to the internet and i use fibre broadband.
In Settings i have set my updates to be downloaded automatically and because i am a Windows Insider i have set the speed at which i receive any updates from Slow to Fast.
How can i get the Windows Update working again?
Oh, i have downloaded the Windows Update Repair Tool and run it ok and according to this tool there is nothing wrong with the Windows Update at all! Any idease? Anyone else having the same problem?

Hello!

My test computer (specs follow) is stuck at build 10586.11 I cannot install any cumulative upgrade, they all fail and Windows Update undoes any change to the system. In order to be able to install any other update I have to use the show/hide tool to hide the cumulative updates. I don't know what's wrong. My main computer (see my specs) and several of my friends have no problem upgrading up to 10586.36, but this particular one fails for some reason. I already tried to disable some devices in Device Manager and disable some services and startup applications, nothing worked. So I decided to start this thread and include a log taken by the forum tool in case someone can shed some light to the issue and tell me what to do.

Thank you in advance.

Hi spapakons,

Please remove every crack/bypass on your system in order to proceed.
There are 2 main reasons,
1.

Troubleshooting a system with counterfeit programs is useless as it is not known what has been modified to your system.
A counterfeit program contains heavily modified code which causes the system to behave in unexpected ways.
For this reason, analyzing counterfeit systems is unreliable and most analysts won't try it.

I'm hoping somebody might be able to advise me on an issue I'm having. I'm not the most techy so I'm hoping I can explain it accurately.

It seems to be (from what I have discovered) linked to the Windows 10 Cumulative Updates.

Issue 1 began on the 28/01/16 as soon as Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3124262) was installed

I noticed that there was now a delay of about 30-40 seconds between switching the laptop on and the Windows log in screen appearing. During this time is the annoying rotating circle.
Then once my username and password were entered, there was another longer delay (complete with rotating circle) before taking me to the desktop.

Issue 2 began a few days later when Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3135173) was installed. I no longer had access to the windows start menu (I had to right click) or the Action menu. Issue 1 also persisted.

I did some googling and discovered that these issues may be because of the updates themselves (not installing properly) and found the page for a manual download for (KB3135173)

I'm just wondering if I did the right thing. I uninstalled (manually) both the Cumulative and security Updates for (KB3124262) and (KB3135173) and manually reinstalled (KB3135173) .

I now have access to my Windows start bar and action centre again but the slow start up persists. I'm just hoping I did the right thing. Was it ok to uninstall both the Cumulative and Security upd... Read more

I should also add that when it finally does get to the desktop.....there is yet another delay and spinning small blue circle before apps are launched. There is a cumulative Windows update that appears in each monthly set of updates and if I don't catch it in time it prevents three different Windows 10 systems in my house from booting and I have to use True Image to restore. This has been going on for about 5 months now and I know there are a lot of folks with the same problem. You'd think Microsoft would pull or fix the update. At least two of the systems are are W10 Professional or Ultimate so I've just used gpedit to stop automatic updates (you'd think I would have done this earlier), but the other system isn't and I have to remember to create the images and/or hide the update on the day it comes out. What a Pain!!!Just using the forum to rant

A:Cumulative Update a Real Pain

I really dont understand Microsoft these days:Pushy for people to 10 even when people go through measures to avoid it, and then now to hear that they are even pushing updates that are unwanted once your onto 10 which break systems. WOW.Patio suggested that he has set his updates to notify vs auto for his system(s). I am going to do this for all my systems now. It might be the fix to your problem here too. My situation is that systems on 7, Microsoft is trying to force to 10 and I dont want 10. I have one computer that I took the free Windows 10 upgrade on from 7. And that system is in my closet for someday when I need 10 for some reason I will have a system on 10 and not miss out of the free upgrade. But other systems I want to remain on 7. Some of which clearly do not support 10 due to age of a single-core laptop for example where the Intel Chipset was lucky enough to have Windows 7 driver for integrated video, but of which there is no Windows 10 driver for the GPU so it fails to upgrade to 10. Others I know have have their computers turn into a brick when taking free upgrade and then the system is stuck in a boot loop because there was a malfunction with a driver or something else causing a crash condition boot loop etc.I ended up cloning the drive in my one highly configured Windows 7 system so that if Microsoft somehow tries again to forcefully upgrade me to 10, i should be able to clone the cloned drive back to the master drive. I have the drive that is cloned inside the... Read more

I have been trying for over more than a week to install this update without luck, like so many others it seems!
At the weekend it completely crashed my machine and I couldn't start Windows at all but I was saved by a Reflect image backup.
Now when it downloads the update it winds it back on startup.
I have been trying to follow guidance on the issue but with no luck and now not sure what I have or haven't done!
The machine is a recent rebuild from scratch, free from nasties and sfc reveals no file issues.
I have a second machine of a similar build and that updated without problem.
Can someone please provide me with some structured help.
I don't seem to be getting automatic notifications when I post on this site, any thoughts to resolve that so that I know when a response has been provided? I will keep coming back to check.

Issue 2
.NET Framework assistant for Firefox has the Uninstall button disabled. In the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, the .NET Framework Assistant enables Firefox to use the ClickOnce technology that is included in the .NET Framework. The .NET Framework Assistant is added at the computer level so that its functionality can be used by all users at the computer level instead of at the user level. Therefore, the Uninstall button is unavailable in the Firefox Add-ons menu because standard users are not permitted to uninstall computer level components.

My PC (win 10 pro, 64bit) started a cumulative update at about 9am this morning and it's still cranking.
Is it really necessary to do that during business hours despite my business hours setup is from 8am to 8pm?
I remember, before the anniversary update, the updates started in the evening when I shut down my PC, went through its paces at night and shut the PC down when it was finished. What happened to that?
Thanks,

A:Cumulative update during business hours?

Hi,
1. You can block Windows updates from downloading by various widely published means. The downloads otherwise occur at any time.
2. You can use Active Hours (build 1607) to prevent restarts during a 12 hr period max. You should be able to use 3rd party software to block restarts otherwise (I haven't managed to definitively test that with updates).
3. Pro upwards editions support deferring upgrades (in Settings).

Hello

From the CBS log it looks as if the repair was to an opencl.dll file which is not related to a windows update but usually to do with graphics cards such as nVidia cards which change the opencl.dll file.

Have you still got problems trying to install KB3124263? Quite often these problems sort themselves out after a day or two.

Windows 10 Pro x64 laptop had updates set to automatically download and then notify. (Still using v. 1511 build 10586 due to continuing reported issues with 1607.) No problems with any updates prior to Oct 2016.

Oct 11 cumulative update KB3192441 apparently failed and gave notice it would "automatically retry later". Download failed again on Oct 12, 13 and 14. Went to Microsoft Update Catalog and downloaded/installed KB3192441 without any apparent issues. But when I opened Settings > Update & security, I saw a brand new notice that "Some settings are managed by your organization" (see screenshot.)

Q1: Why did this happen?

Q2: How do I regain full control over future updates since this laptop is not part of an "organization"?

NOTE: I tried modifying Windows Update settings using this tutorial. No effect on removing the "Some settings are managed by your organization" notice.

I also tried using three System Restore Points and two System Images all made prior to Oct 11. They did not have any success in removing the notice. It reappeared as soon as I clicked the "Check for updates" button.

(BTW, going thru the Microsoft Update Catalog resulted in a download of 1.03GB and took almost 6 hours to complete. I understand that MS wants people to have all released updates but this cumulative concept really stinks. End of rant.)

Here's how to install balky Windows 10 cumulative patch KB 318986

I'm seeing posts all over the web from folks trying to install the latest Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) cumulative update. KB 3189866 is supposed to bring Windows 10 AU to build 14393.187, but reports say the installer gets stuck at 45 percent, 48 percent, 95 percent, and various other points along the way.

The problem's widespread, and Microsoft has known about it since shortly after the patch dropped. Since it's a cumulative update, there's no easy solution.

Microsoft will certainly figure out what's blocking the patch, but in order to fix it the company will have to release a new cumulative update. Unless it can find a magic way to modify a released cumulative update, the only solution is a new cumulative update that absolves the sins of the original. That's one of the big problems with these massive, one-way "as a service" patches. It's also a totally predictable problem, as I've been saying for almost two years.

If you're faced with this issue, be of good cheer: There's an easy solution. Some suggest th... Read more

Microsoft is rolling out the first cumulative package of non-security-focused updates and fixes for Windows 10 one week after the company began making available to users the release-to-manufacturing (RTM) version of the operating system.

Referred to by some company watchers as "Service Release 1," the actual update package is officially known as KB3081424. (Thanks to The Verge's Tom Warren for a pointer to the KB.)

There's not a lot of information so far about what's in today's update, which Microsoft is delivering via Windows Update. The KB page says the following:"This update includes non-security-related changes to enhance the functionality of Windows 10 through new features and improvements.Windows 10 updates are cumulative. Therefore, this package contains all previously-released fixes (see KB 3074683). I need a trick to start the whole process from scratch I think

I had that also with this update.
So here is what I did to get over it.
I restarted it then ran the Disc Clean Up app
Which cleared all traces from the Disc
Then let it download and install, which took some time
Then it installed to 30% then Restarted then finished at 100%
Which again sat there for some time then flashed up it had finished and now running all ok on all my systems
Hope that may hopefully help you with your problem
Let us know how you get on

Hi friends,
This the first time am having an issues with the update center.
the rest of updates from today (Office 16) were fine.
Once again when am trying to install KB3124263 - am stuck at Getting Windows ready after performing Windows update.
the only way to get rid of it (after 30 min) is to press the RESET button.

Tried sfc /scannow => CBS.Log

A:KB3124263 - Cumulative Update Failed to Install

Hi there

after applying the latest cumulative updates IE11 is now broken on my system (W10 pro X-64)..

Often the Main (home page) of a site works but as soon as you link to other links in the site garbled text often appears.

Here's an example from BBC website. Main news page opens but link to a story and :

One can partly fix by pressing F12 and setting IE compatibility to IE10 or IE9.

A remote code execution vulnerability in a component of Outlook Express could allow an attacker who sent a Windows Address Book file to a user of an affected system to take complete control of the system.

If a user is logged on with administrative user rights, an attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less affected than users who operate with administrative user rights.

Affected Components:

• Outlook Express 5.5 Service Pack 2 on Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
• Outlook Express 6 Service Pack 1 when installed on Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
• Outlook Express 6 on Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2

From Softpedia

Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 cumulative update for systems running the Anniversary Update (1607), but the company hasn?t provided any release notes, so it?s hard to tell what exactly it?s improving.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB3199209 is now available for download via Windows Update, and Microsoft isn?t saying a single thing about it, even though interest in such updates has been fairly big lately. There?s no KB page just yet, and the Windows 10 update history page hasn?t received an update, so there?s absolutely no info on it.

But even so, users are strongly recommended to download and install this new cumulative update, and until now, there are no reports of failed installs or any other issues experienced after deploying it. But as always, it could take a while until more users get to install it, so we?ll be keeping an eye out on reports to see if there?s something wrong with it.

Botched cumulative updates
The latest cumulative updates released by Microsoft have caused problems on quite a lot of computers, and in most of the cases, they failed to install with error messages that said almost nothing about what went wrong. Microsoft investigated all these complaints and released fixes, but even so, there are users who?re still unable to install cumulative updates.

In the case of KB3199209, Microsoft might be trying to fix issues that users have been reporting with previous cumulative updates, as the download size is quit... Read more

Hi All,

I've been looking around the Internet for a solution to "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3147458)" failing to update; and while there are a multitude of success stories out there, none of the solutions worked for me.

In researching an unrelated issue, it occurred to me that I may have a customization that might be interfering with this update, and the (now mandatory...sigh) Windows Update process:

I have moved my \Users directory to a custom location using a junction (a symbolic link/shortcut).

There are many (unsupported) ways to do this, and a quick Google shows that a multitude of people are not happy with the standard "Users folder lives on the system disk and you can move libraries/directories using the System Settings" solution provided by Microsoft. This is especially common for folks who boot from an SSD, but have tons and tons of large files which wouldn't fit on that SSD; especially if you anticipate the need to create new user accounts but don't want to write a script or hand-configure each new account to move the directories to the secondary volume via the available System Settings.

My method (as found online) was to robocopy my initial Users folder just after a clean install of Windows 10, and then create a junction at C:\Users which pointed to D:\Users (which is my large HDD).

This causes a problem with some updates when they need to make adjustments to files stored within \Users.

Ive tried every possible guide and solution I could find, including applying the update from a full offline installer, nothing works.

One of the 8 updates was - "Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems" I uninstalled IE11 because it messed up my weather desktop gadget, and I didn't plan on using IE11.

I tried the standalone installer for the failed updated and got the "this update is not applicable to your computer" message. The only thing I can think of doing now is using system restore and trying to install the updates again. My antivirus was not disabled during the installation of the updates. Should I disable it? It's Patch Tuesday, and that means software updates for all. New cumulative updates are rolling out for Windows 10 PCs, tablets, and phones, bringing the build number to 10586.318.

It's available for everyone, including non-Insiders as well as Insiders that are using the Release Preview ring. This update skips over the last one - build 10586.240 for PCs and 10586.242 for Mobile - which shipped to the Release Preview ring, but never to Production.

As with most cumulative updates, there are no new features. Instead, the new build focuses on fixes and stability improvements.

Here's what's new in build 10586.318 for PCs:

Improved reliability in a number of areas including Cortana, Bluetooth, Shell, Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Edge, Miracast, and USB.
Fixed memory leak that occurs when opening a portable document format (PDF) form multiple times.
Fixed issues with text alignment for right to left languages in Internet Explorer 11 and Microsoft Edge.
Fixed issue that affected Bluetooth function when a PC resumes from sleep.
Fixed issue where user accounts weren't locked out after a number of failed sign in attempts.
Fixed issue with revised daylight saving time.
Fixed issue that sometimes corrupts CompactFlash cards inserted into a card reader.
Fixed issue that caused recorded video to be lost when answering an incoming call on some phones.

Microsoft has just rolled out a new cumulative update for PCs running Windows 10 preview builds, so if you?re not part of the Insider program, you?re not going to see it.

What?s odd with this update is that it takes the version number to Windows 10 14393.82, which the exact same version that another cumulative update released by the company earlier this week brought. In fact, Microsoft even says that if you have the old update running on your computer, you?re not going to see the new one, which is kind of weird, given the fact that it also includes an exclusive change.

Microsoft explains that this new update brings the same fixes as the previous one, with just one exception, but because you can?t see it, you?re not going be able to get this improvement - the chances are that it?ll be part of another cumulative update planned for the next weeks, so you should receive it anyway at some point in the near future.

?We have released Cumulative Update (KB3176934) to Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14393 on PCs which will bring the build number to 14393.82. This Cumulative Update includes the same fixes as KB3176932 but with an additional fix: Improved download size optimization of updates,? Microsoft explains.

Could be released to retail users soon

What?s also interesting is that these cumulative updates are currently available for insiders only, so retailer users are very likely to get them in the coming weeks when all the testing is completed.

Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB3197954 Fails to Install as Well

Windows 10 cumulative updates are certainly pretty helpful for the majority of users running Microsoft?s latest OS version, but at the same time, they are turning into sort of nightmare for others who can?t simply install them successfully.

Issues with Windows 10 cumulative updates have been around for a while, and Microsoft has tried to fix them on several occasions, but for some reason, they keep coming back pretty much in the same form.

KB3197954 makes no exception, and after being pushed to Windows 10 users last week, it appears that it fails to install on a number of machines due to a cause that?s yet to be determined.

More than just installation issues
Posts on Microsoft?s Community forums are pointing towards various problems experienced with cumulative update KB3197954, including system freezes, but in most of the cases, it?s the typical ?failing to install? issue that makes it impossible for some users to deploy the patch on their computers.

?Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3197954) keeps failing to install on my system. Hiya

Sticking this one in here, for a week

This is two fold:

A vulnerability exists in ISA Server 2000 because of the way that it handles malformed HTTP requests. An attacker could exploit the vulnerability by constructing a malicious HTTP request that could potentially allow an attacker to poison the cache of the affected ISA server. As a result, the attacker could either bypass content restrictions and access content that they would normally not have access to or they could cause users to be directed to unexpected content. Additionally, an attacker could use this in combination with a separate Cross Site Scripting vulnerability to obtain sensitive information such as logon credentials.

An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists in ISA Server 2000 that could allow an attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability to create a NetBIOS connection with an ISA Server by utilizing the NetBIOS (all) predefined packet filter. The attacker would be limited to services that use the NetBIOS protocol running on the affected ISA Server.

Affected Software:

• Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 Service Pack 2
Note The following software programs include ISA Server 2000. Customers who use these software programs should install the provided ISA Server 2000 security update.
• Microsoft Small Business Server 2000

http://news.softpedia.com/news/wind...b3193494-also-failing-to-install-508542.shtml

Microsoft has recently released Windows 10 cumulative update KB3193494 in order to bring the KB3189866 saga to an end, but it turns out that there are users who are experiencing issues with this new patch as well.

Some of those who were offered the new cumulative update are reporting problems when attempting to install it, and the way it happens looks very similar to what others have experienced in the past.

In most of the cases, the cumulative update fails to install, and it simply rolls back before getting users back to the desktop. The update is then reoffered and redownloaded before the system is once again rebooted to attempt the install.

Users who couldn?t install the original KB3189866 update were confident that this new one fixes the problems, so they rushed to install it.

?I have already read some issues with this update and that you should install the offline updater. It has the same problem. Microsoft released KB3193494 to resolve the download issue, so I tried again. Still the same problem,? one of them explains on Microsoft?s Community forums.

Post-installation problems

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 cumulative update KB3194496 for computers running 1607 last week, but as we reported recently, there are plenty of users out there who are experiencing problems when trying to install it.

While this isn?t surprising at all given the fact that similar issues were spotted with many other cumulative updates, Microsoft has already confirmed that it?s investigating reports and that a fix is on its way.

Fortunately, someone on the Microsoft Community forums has found a workaround for this problem in order to successfully install the cumulative update on any Windows 10 computer.

The workaround
What you need to do is to fire up File Explorer and delete the entire folder at the following location (administrator privileges are needed, so make sure you are logged in with an admin account):

Code:
C: > Windows > System32 > Tasks > Microsoft > XblGameSave
After that, launch the Registry Editor by typing regedit.exe in the Start menu and delete the following registry key ? once again, administrator privileges are needed to do this:

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > WindowsNT > CurrentVersion > Schedule > TaskCache > Tree > Microsoft > XblGameSave
According to users who have already tried this, all you need to do next is to launch Windows Update once again and try to download and instal... Read more

A:How to Fix Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB3194496 Installation Issues

Also, if you have completely uninstalled (deleted) XBox and all associated items from your system, then KB3194496 will not install.

To get KB1394496 to install, you have to completely re-install XBox - and not forget to install all associated items.

There is a DISM re-install package method for advanced users, and then for everyone else there is a clean install of Windows 10.

Don't you just love it... ?

The better solution is to disable Windows Update service and only re-enable it to install any cumulative updates -- after waiting for at least two months for a "fixed" cumulative update.

Don't be one of Microsoft's guinea pigs...

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 8 (KB2838727) isn't working very well on my laptop.
On installing this, after rebooting I'm a stuck on blue screen saying that the PC has encountered an error and needs to restart. It also shows an error code like 0xc000021a. While that message is displayed, a percentage meter goes to 100 and the PC is automatically rebooted.

Then it tries to diagnose and repair but fails and says that the PC could not be repaired and a Srt log file is saved.

Then the only thing which saves me is going to the Advanced Options within that recovery mode and restoring a system point.
Can someone help me on this? What exactly in this update is crashing my PC?

I had opened a similar thread in the BSODs category of the website, but now that I have realized that it's more related to a Windows Update I'm opening a thread here.

Thanks.

Regards,
Abhishek Sharma

After repeated problems with the update failing I did a clean install and installed kb3200970 manually from the windows catalogue and it shows as an installed update. Windows automatic updates wants to download and install it again. Is this really necessary? Any way to make it stop???

Microsoft officials say the latest Windows 10 cumulative update fixes problems some users were having with Windows Store. What else is in it? We have no idea.

The newest cumulative update is KB3081438. The Microsoft Support page says nothing about the specific features and fixes that are new to this update beyond "This update includes improvements to enhance the functionality of Windows 10."

Any update with a vague description like that should be considered suspicious. If I were offered an update worded like that for my windows 8.1 machine I would definitely refuse it, if they won't say what it is for it is either not important or not pleasant. Remember that this is the sort of language which was the wording used for the KB page of kb3035583 when it was first released (it's page has been updated since to give a more accurate description of what it does, but when that update first came out it's page was all vague like that).

The only thing I've seen on this so far is you might have users on your computer who no longer exist. Delete them and try updating again.

After (finally) installing the latest released Cumulative update on my HP Pavilion dv7, Bluetooth no longer functions properly. Playing Music via Bluetooth to my Beatbox Portable is now "choppy" sounding - behaving like my Laptop is too far away for the Bluetooth connection. Even when I lay my Laptop next to the Device, it still doesn't function properly. Prior to the install of this latest release it was flawless - up to 100 feet away. Now cant use it at all. I note the date of the INTEL BLUETOOTH DRIVER is 3/2016 -- so looks like it was updated in this latest W10 update.

Anybody else? If no known fix I guess I'll have to back out this update, if possible, because I REALLY need this Bluetooth to function properly.

My laptop downloaded and installed the latest major Windows 10 update this morning (took several hours!), and now my screen resolution has changed - the icons and text are all way too big. There are no system restore points available, so I cannot revert to earlier working version. If I go into settings and select display, I am only offered two possibile resolutions, and neither of these is suitable. What can I do?
