I recently bought a M.2 SSD and I want to use it as a cache drive. Intels RST requires AHCI mode, I was under the assumption that I was already in AHCI mode but my inability to create any raid volumes through the disk management or have my drives recognized by the RST app says otherwise. There is no option to change my mode from IDE to AHCI in BIOS due to it being locked. How can I work around this?
Look in the device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller, it should say Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller. For your second part of your question, you need at least 2 disk with unallocated areas to make a RAID array. But, saying that I would never setup a software RAID (ie windows) array and the BIOS doesnt support a hardware RAID4 more replies
I'm having some lag with my touchpad, about every 3 seconds. Searched around about this problem and did some updates on the driver.
Even did a factory reset, but same problem.
Anyone having similar problem and fixed it?
Read somewhere that it may have something to do with the Realtek HD audio software/driver??
Using external mouse for the most, but would be nice to have the option to use a functional touchpad from time to time.
Mod's Edit: Additional information added to Subject line for clarity of issue and moved to proper forum.
Have you seen this thread?http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/14107-windows-10-mouse-lagging.htmlThis guy claims that disabling start at boot of Realtek application called FMAPP.exe solved the problem. A lot of people in this thread say that it solved their issue. Can you check if it solves your problem? Let me know when you find out.2 more replies
So I'm planning on buying this model: Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK, but the one I'm looking to buy doesn't have an SSD and doesn't specify which ports are still available, only that it has a 1TB HDD. So I wanted to ask: 1. Does it have a free M.2 port? all models of the Y700-15ISK should have them, or am I wrong? 2. Which type of M.2 SSD does it support? M or B+M? I already sent the same questions to the retailer, but I am still waiting for an answer so thought I'd ask here as well.More replies
Hello, it has been 2 days since i bought a lenovo y700 15isk, Model Name 80NV, MTM 80NV00CNRI and im having big problems with fans, they run very loud with no reason. When i start up the windows 10, for about 5 minutes it stays very quiet, but when i start using for example youtube or facebook ore something that does not need very much processing power the fans kick in immediatly, and never low down any more. It is very frustrating for me because i didnt exept a laptop of this kind to have this issues. I have tried to install all the drivers, but nothing helped.I read somewhere that it might be a bios issue but i dont know how to update this bios.My bios version is CDCN25WW, 9/4/15. Can anyone please help me, can somebody tell me is this bios version the latest one or it need to be updated. Can you tell me how to update the bios. Hey guys!! So yeah, I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK laptop. It's a really cool laptop! And it's a monster in gaming! Also, it's new. I had it with me for about 2 months now. I have no negative comments about this laptop. This laptop was my dream laptop. I always take care of it and made sure it is in top condition. But you see, One day, like 3-4 days ago (sunday), when I got home I turned on my laptop to update my excel table for my expenses, it was bout 90%. After that, I took a nap leaving my laptop still turned on. When I woke up, I saw it was 10% percent. Of course, like any normal person would do, I plugged in the charger. To my suprise, It suddenly turned off by itself right after I plugged in the charger to the wall socket. Thinking that It just got lowbat, it was all right for me. Or so I thought. After that, I noticed that there were no lights that indicate that it is charging in my laptop. Please help!!! It's been 3 or 4 days now and I still can't use it!!! It won't charge, it won't turn on because of the lowbat and I can't fix it.Any ideas?? (i have a background on Electronics Engineering if it matters) i did some analysis. 1. I'm pretty sure that the battery is okay, but of course it's lowbat cause it shutdown at 10%. 2. My charger is perfectly fine. (I tried it on another y700 at a store, also, my laptop does not charge with another y700 charger) 3. I do believe that it is in the hardware because, like I said, the light indicator shou... Hello, I have had my Y700 for 2 months. Right from the start I had the issue where it wouldn't seem to boot up, and I would have to put it to sleep a time or 2 before it would start windows. This problem seems to be solved. However, after installing the windows 10 anniversary update, the laptop will randomly 'freeze'. The keyboard will not respond, but I can still use the mouse. When I try to restart, the screen will go black, and it will not respond at all. I have to force shutdown with power button. After turning back on, it will work for 20-30 min and then do the same thing. I did a total reinstall of windows 10 and have updated bios to the 37, but it is doing the same thing. Lenovo Solutions Center does not detect hardware issues. Can someone please help me? Thanks! Here are my specs:Y700-15ISK TouchBIOS: CDCN37WWRAM: 16GBHD: 256 SSDMore replies

Hello, My laptop configuration:OS: Windows 10 64 bits (up-to-date)Model : Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK (80NV)BIOS : CDCN37WW Five days ago the keyboard suddenly stopped to respond (nb : the Num Lock led remained on). I tried to restart Windows but since it could not (stucked on the reboot screen) I pressed the power button and heard a "clack" sound. When I restarted the computer the hard drive made some noices and the fans started to turn at high speed for ~3 seconds.NB : I upgraded to bios CDCN35WW few days before. After the incident I updated to CDCN37WW. Today the problem happened again (keyboard not responding). Before trying to reboot I unpluged and pluged back my mouse (Lenovo gaming mouse). As I expected, it did not function once I pluged it back. I tried to log out before rebooting. At that time Windows crashed and I saw the BSOD for 1 second before the computer shut down and reboot showing the Novo Button Menu (the keyboard was still not responding at this time).I rebooted by pressing the power button, once again some worrysome electrical noices while I was doing so.The computer restarted and once again noices from the hard drive + fans at full speed. Any suggestion ? Are BIOS updates bugged ?Thanks in advance for any help.More replies

Hi basitj ,
I was also waiting for other members to try going beyond 16 GB on this model.
So far, was not able to get a verified working upgrade on this model most likely since it was just released in the market and that it is using DDR4 already.
Seen models that worked from beyond recommended RAM from OEM since memory controller of processor usually exceed whole system max ram. This is due to systemboard limitation and firmware identification set by OEM.
If you can have your company IT group test it or have computer shop to try going beyong 16 GBDDR4 then it's the only time we can decide .
Update us if possible , it would be a good reference for our community.
While playing GPU intensive games I had the feeling that the laptop does not reach its full capabilities.Even while using the recommended GPU settings by NVIDIA for the respective game, the games felt a bit sluggish. So I ran some benchmarks using the program Furmark. It looks like the laptop is programmed to throttle the GPU once the temperature reaches 65-67 °C.Can this be possible? This kinda sucks. I didn't pay for high end hardware just to have it throttled by my system's BIOS or whatever causes this. Moreover the fans don't always seem to run at full capacity before the temperature throttling kicks in.It also does not seem possible to control or monitor the fan speed by a third party program like MSI Afterburner. If this is supposed to be a laptop for gamers it kind of missed the mark here.
Make sure you don't have any power saving features turned on, I know Lenovo has a bunch of Power Management software installed by default. Are you using "Power Saver" power plan in Windows by any chance? I can max out the overclock in Afterburner and game for hours on end at 1337 MHz core, so I'm not having any throttling issues. However I did do a clean install of Windows so I have no Lenovo software running on mine.9 more replies

Hello and welcome,
It may be that nothing is wrong. You laptop may have an "always-on" USB port that can be used for charging external devices.
You might try using another port, or checking BIOS to see if there's an option to turn off that feature.
I'm having trouble finding documentation that addresses this, so the above is just a guess.

Hello,I'd like to ask, if any of Y700 user faced same or similar problem, with orange/yellowish shade/tint on the screen?Problem started 3 months ago, it was a really hot weather outside, computer was working fine, and then after a few moments it appeard. I doub't that it was me, who damaged a screen, because i'm really gentle, when using it.I bought a notebook at the beginning of this year. It is still on a warranty. I already tried send on a warranty to a serivce for repair ( i think, company is called MEDION (at least for lenovo devices bought in Poland), but they send it back, with a reason that "they couldn't achive same problem in their test enviroment" which is really strange, because problem appears everytime notebook is working. Any suggestion what i can do? Should i send it back again on the warranty, hoping that this time, they will be able to see a defect? What was the root cause of a problem? I don't won't to leave it like that, because notebook wasn't cheap, and except a screen issue, notebook is amazing. But it is really hard and annoying to use it like that.Attached screens, look at the bottom right corner. Orange shade is most intense in this place. Hello, I have the Y700 Touch-15ISK Laptop (ideapad) which I received as a replacement for my last Lenovo which could not be fixed by Lenovo Support. Since I received this as a replacement, my warranty only lasted a month (the residual from my initial warranty). Now, I have only had it for a few months and it has had many instances of the blue screen of death with my computer suddenly needing a restart. I do not have warranty anymore so I am reaching out to you all. The hardware scan says the Mathmatical Operations Test on my Intel (HD) Graphics 550 card failed. I got the result code: WVC007002-UL7VFK. I could not find any information about this code online. Through the Lenovo website I tried to update my Intel driver by downloading the one the website recommended for my computer after I entered my Serial # (I think it was Intel VGA) and after it downloaded I got a warning saying: "Error: The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer. Setup will exit." Regarding the blue screen of death, there have been several different error messages, but the one that comes the most often is "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE". The most recent blue screen message was "Stop Code: SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION; What failed: igdkmd64.sys" I am not sure if these problems are related, but it seems the most important issue is the graphics driver since I use a lot o... Hi, I've been experiencing this throttling issue for the past month now ( I've had this laptop since January). The fps drop from 170 to 60 for a couple of seconds and go back up to the initial value. I've had this issue a couple of times before but it would fix itself after restart (usually had it when I wake the laptop from sleep and immediately load CS:GO). Now, I notice that this happens everytime I start playing and the temp goes above 69 degrees - I used to play with 170-200fps before with GPU temps surpassing 80 degrees with no fps drops at all. This is really frustrating, especially when knowing that my brother has no FPS drops using my 5 year old Lenovo Y570 with geforce GT 555m...Is there any way to fix this? I mean the gaming experience, as stated above was fine until a week ago, when I started getting these FPS drops, so that means that this issue can actually be fixed. Specs are Intel Core i7-6700HQGTX960M 4GB12 GB DDR4256GB SSD ( CS:GO is on the SSD if that matters)I use Speedfan to check the temps. CS:GO is using the nvidia gpu, and the gpu is se to performance, power saving is disabled i am using balanced performance and set all advanced settings to maximum performance.More replies
Hello All, I have several issues with my Y700-15ISK. I have the latest BIOS (CDCN35NWW or something from 2016/03/29) (in EUFI mode). The latest one, before all BIOS updates in connection with Y700 15ISKi disappeared from the Lenovo sites. I mostly use the latop with an external monitor via HDMI. Sometimes (I could not find a rule when) it starts to display red dots over the screen. If it is 3D graphics it moves along with the texture. You can see screenshots in the link below. The second problem is that the display goes black at random times and then it comes back after a 1-2 seconds. It is like when you change the resolution. The 3rd problem is when the BIOS is in EUFI mode sometimes I get a VGA error 43 in the Windows Device Manager. The system tells me that it had problems with the device and disabled it completely. The solution for this is to reset the BIOS back to factory defaults and reconfigure it to the desired state. This is jus ta workaround because this problem can occur also totally random. I've tested my external display with my other laptop Lenovo T440s with DisplayPort to HDMI converter and the same HDMI cable. Never experienced any problems. Tried Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 64 bit systems and all the Chipset, and VGA drivers which came out since then (provided by both Lenovo and Nvidia). Hello, I recently bought a Lenovo Y700-15ISK with i5 6300HQ, Geforce GTX 960, 1 TB WD HDD (No SSD). I really like this laptop. But there are some serious issues that I don't know how to fix. First of all, I have installed Windows 10 Home edition. I disabled all the windows 10 problems, that were eating my memory, hdd. But I still find my computer quite slow when working... I expected it to be a beast. Actually it takes about 90 seconds to boot Windows 10. It's not normal... I saw worse laptops boot much faster... And the programs: When I double click My computer it takes like 3-4 seconds to open it. The second time I double click it it's much faster. Right click also lags. Opening chrome takes like 5 to 10 seconds. And when I install programs, install from ISO files, copy files I can't do anything else. The laptop lags a lot, sometimes freezes. But games like GTA, Fifa work fine - no lag in high graphics. I've done a lot of things, reinstalled the windows - nothing helps. Is this normal? Do I need a SSD for windows 10 or what?.... Or do I need to install windwos 10 as UEFI? But I read that there is not a big difference. The HDD has no errors, checked it many times, the transfer speeds are good. The next thing, I decided to go to Windows 7 64 bit on this notebook. The good old windows that I always liked. I installed it. And... I also have problems... I recently bought this laptop and I have two problems:1. Especially when the screen is black, there is a green light on the upper part of the screen. I don't know what causes it maybe a led or something is installed badly (it's a 5 cm² area). Should I take it back and ask for a new one?2. This problem is related to scaling. When it is set to 100%, everything is small but crystal clear. When at 150%, everything looks normal but some apps like Steam, BitTorrent... are blurry like they were just zoomed on. Reinstalling windows and drivers should solve this? Simply reinstalling drivers didn't help. Thanks!
I don't know anything about your first problem (it may be a hardware problem), but I do know something about the second. Some programs (Steam, for example) aren't made for high-dpi screens. for these programs that appear blurry, right click on their icon (on the desktop), and click properties. Under the compatibility tab, check "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings". This should work after you restart the program.4 more replies

Hello there. I have a few questions regarding the recent release of BIOS update with version number CDCN37WW. Currently my BIOS is on version CDCN35WW. I was about to install it yesterday but did not because of several reasons. I read the instruction saying that I should put the BIOS settings at its default settings before installing the CDCN37WW update and there lies my problem. I bought the 15ISK version with 1TB HDD. A month ago I bought a 128GB SSD and did a clean install of Windows 10 on my new SSD. After booting into Windows 10 on my SSD in Legacy Mode, I format the partition in the 1TB HDD which houses my default installation of Windows 10 (the pre-installed Windows 10 by Lenovo). I did not completely wipe the HDD altogether and thus I still have the partitions created by Lenovo. The main issue that is stopping me from installing the update is my BIOS settiings. In BIOS boot submenu, I have it set to Legacy and then Legacy First so that it detects my SSD. UEFI does not detect my SSD. Default settings sets UEFI instead of Legacy. In conclusion, I cannot install the BIOS update even if I wanted to because I won't be able to boot into Windows 10 on my SSD once I change BIOS settings to default because UEFI (default settings is set to UEFI) does not detect my SSD. My questions are: -1. Does anyone have any solution or workaround to this problem ?2. Is it really compulsory to set the BIOS settings back default ? Or is it just a "... Read moreMore replies

Hi y70015ISKm2SSD ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
What you can initially try is to disable fast boot under shutdown settings > advanced power options.
If same issue continue to disable "allow hybrid sleep" either from same advance power settings or from cmd as administrator using powercfg -h off to disable hibernation if needed.

Just got this laptop 2 months ago via amazon. I am a DJ and use Serato DJ software. I have only played 1 party with the new laptop. I am running windows 7 and windows 10 (difference partitions) Today I decided to build the overviews of my music collection. The software uses all 8 cores (8 songs at a time) to build them. I had the laptop running for about 2 hours. Everything was running fine. I even have the laptop slightly elavated in the back to get extra air flow. All of sudden the laptop shut off. I noticed that the charge light on the front of the laptop was no longer while. Power brick was pretty hot which seems normal for the intense core usage. Called tech support and went through some tech support, have to call back since there database was down. I suspect something on the laptop motherboard or memory etc went toast. This is my first Lenovo laptop ever. I have been a Dell guy for over 10 years, never ever had any hardware issues in 4 other laptops. What can I expect from Lenovo warranty service? Anyone have any other thoughts on what the heck could have happened. This is probably the most intense I have run the laptop. DJ with the software isn't as intense as building overviews. Think of it as rendering.More replies

Hi everyone, I am writting to ask you about embedded SSD that is plugged in mentioned in topic notebook. I see this laptop on many websites with 240GB SSD in but I can not find any information about this disk. I understand that many companies put disks in by their own but then they write what type it is (for example samsung evo etc.). This 240 GB SSD looks like Lenovo service. If anyone has some information about it please answer. Thank you for ur support, PeterMore replies

So I bought Lenovo Ideapad 700-15isk with GTX 950M 2GB DDR3 a couple weeks ago and whenever I try to play a game (any game, even from year 2009), my GPU starts overheating and when it reaches ~83C, it automatically downclocks itself to 405mhz. I tried to install drivers from scratch, both from OM and from Nvidia, and that didn't help me. I've also gone through a clean installation of Win 10, that didn't help either.Any help would be greatly appreciated.More replies
My battery seems to charge very slowly when connected to AC and when I unplug I lose power in less than 20 minutes and the diagnostic says battery is in "Fair" condition and only charging at 41.38% of its original full charge capacity. When I called customer service since I am still under warranty, they just said I could send in the laptop for repair which takes about 7 business days or go to a Best Buy for the GeekSquad to repair. I went to Best Buy, but the Geek Squad said they would have to send it off for 13 days so none of this was helpful as this is my only laptop and I need it daily so to send it off for 7 business days would be difficult. Are there any other options for repair that reduce the time significantly? I can't believe Lenovo doesn't offer overnight shipping to expedite the processMore replies
I did a crucial.com system scan and they said i can upgrade my ram to 20gb. is this really true? i figured the max is usualy 16 for a laptop like this but if it is really 20gb then that's cool. Good morning. Before I purchase anything, I would like someone more knowledgeable to confirm that all of the items below are compatible with one another.* Laptop: Lenovo Y700 Touch-15ISKModel: 80NW000PUSRetailer: Best BuyBest Buy Link: http://goo.gl/V8HnQs* RAM (two choices): (1) DIMM, M471A5143DB0-CPB D/25nm/4Gbx8(2) DIMM, M471A1G43DB0-CPB D/25nm/4Gbx8- (2) confuses me because on Amazon it says 8Gb/512Mx64. Is it a single high-capacity stick? If so, should I buy that one or two low-capacity ones? Notably, the Lenovo Hardware Maintenance Manual states that it should read 4Gbx8, not 8Gb.* SSD: Samsung MZVLV512HCJH, 512GB, M.2 (PCIe)Amazon Link: https://goo.gl/Uak1e8Lastly, I don't want to purchase and install a new OS; instead, I'd like to transfer the pre-installed HDD one onto the M.2. Hello. I have had my Ideapad 300 for several months now and I really love it except for one thing, the trackpad. Due to where my hand and fingers naturally sit, there is a spot on the trackpad that shows a little more wear than the area around it. In this picture ( http://imgur.com/bJovhqL ), you can see that there is an oval shaped region that looks a little different. The problem I am having is that several times a day (up to several times per hour), the trackpad goes nuts. It doesn'ttrack my finger correctly and performs multi-finger actions even though I'm just using one finger. It jitters around the screen if I try to use it, and I just have to wait for it to self-correct by staying off of it for up to 30 seconds. If I look at the trackpad icon on the bottom right of the taskbar while it's messing up, the trackpad is registering multiple fingers. I'll use one finger, and the icon will display 1 finger, 2 fingers, 3 fingers, 1, 2, 1, 3, 4, etc. Like I said, I just have to wait it out for it to go away. And on one occasion, I noticed that even if I hovered my finger above the trackpad without actually touching it, it would still register fingers, like it was being super super sensitive or something. I've tried everything reasonable to fix it, tweaking the settings, uninstalling and reinstalling the trackpad, updating the drivers, using the OEM drivers, and nothing works. It's getting very annoying, and ... Read moreMore replies
Hello All! I have just gotten the Lenovo Ideapad 500-15ISK and have been experiencing Hardware Scan Fail within the "Mathematical Operations Test" of my Intel HD Graphics 520. I have checked support and other forums which have addressed this issue, but all these solutions have not worked for me. I read that this is a false positive and that updating the VGA would help, which I have done, but does not fix the solution. Could anyone please help me find a solution to my problem. Thanks.
I had this problem also with my same model 1 week old laptop. Tech support found a different driver on the Intel website that corrected the problem. But, I also am experiencing another odd and random problem that others have discussed which is a pop up window in lower left corner of screen that says the Intel Graphics display stopped working and Windows is trying to repair it.9 more replies

Welcome to Lenovo Community!
1) Shut down the computer.
2) With the battery in (but AC adapter removed), attempt to turn on the computer by holding down the power button for 30 sec. This should not turn on the computer.
3) Remove the battery.
4) Again, attempt to turn on the computer (AC adapter not plugged in) by holding down the power button for 30 sec. This should not turn on the computer either.
5) Replace battery, plug in the AC adapter, and turn on the computer. The battery should begin charging.
I hope the above information helps.

I have lately been encountering some problems in which my lenovo laptop's screen would completely freeze up with no response to inputs afterwards. An intense buzzing sound can be heard from my headphones when this happens. this usually happens when i am gaming and requires me to force shut down but I do not recall this happening before. any ideas of what's wrong?
Well first of I would run a disk check since it has been hanging, Right click on Start, select Command Prompt (Admin) and in the command windows type: chkdsk /f Press Enter and type Y to schedule the scan for the next boot, and then restart the system. Once that is complete I would check for an updated video driver at support.lenvo.com Does it only occur on a particular game, or just any game? If just one game, have you checked the game boards for anyone else having that issue? Also check to make sure your laptops vents are clear of dust, and use a Vacuum to clean them if needed.1 more replies
When my laptop is plugged in, I have my power-saver setting set so that the display turns off in 15 minutes. When I return to my desk and hit any key, move the mouse, or whatever, it takes anywhere from 6 to 10 or 12 seconds for the display to turn on again. Is this normal? The display on my prior Lenovo (G580) would turn on instantaneously, so I was surprised that it's been taking so long on my new laptop. Thank you.More replies

Hi everyone, I really hope someone can help me. I bought an Ideapad (300-15ISK - Machine Type 80Q7) about two weeks ago, and I just ran an LSC hardware scan. The laptop passed everything except the SMART drive self-test. I received a warning there and the result code: WHD01V000-UL7CLI I don't know if this makes a difference, but when I press the power button to switch the laptop on, it makes this little weird noise that sounds like a "spark" or "static." The laptop is under a one-year warranty, so I'm sure I can get it replaced if this is a serious problem. Thanks for any and all advice!More replies
Single clicking with my external mouse works fine -- except for in one particular program. But it's not an issue with the program, because if I use the touchpad buttons, single click works fine. And it's not the mouse, because I've tried three different mice, all with the same result. Even when a Lenovo tech rep took over my computer and single clicked within that program, it didn't work until he clicked several times. I've talked to several other people (including tech support for the program), and no one else is having this issue. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks in advance....More replies

how to install windows 7 on this. Here's what i've done: I've used both the Windows 7 DVD and i created a bootable USB wiith it (UEFI Boot). They work. I disabled the security in the bios, so i could work with UEFI, but when i boot the machine with either, the windows 7 loading screen happens, then it freezes on the Starting Windows animated logo. I can get no further. When i set the bios to boot in legacy mode it gets past that part, but then asks me for a driver. I've downloaded all of the windows 7 64 bit drivers on the Y700-15ISK driver page, but none of them seem to be the driver that windows is looking for. Right now i'm a little at the end of my rope on this. Any help would be appreciated.More replies
