Unfortunately I see you got no responses. I am having the same issue with 7 GMAIL accounts and have been searching for a fix. There are lots of "fixes" all over the web but none seem to work. It's a highly annoying bug. I find that logging out of WIN 10 then logging back in with your PASSWORD (NOT PIN) helps it for a few days then it returns again.

I'm running it on a Microsoft Surface Pro 4. with the latest WIN10 with all updates. I also have Outlook but for the Tablet this is a much simpler app to work with.

Is it actually Outlook.com [Online/Webmail] and not Microsoft Outlook [part of Office]? Are you opening from a link in Favorites or the Favorites bar? If it's Outlook.com ave you tried typing just outlook.com in the Address bar, pressing Enter then tried logging in again? Could be the stored shortcut is the problem, have seen it happen.

My Windows 10 Email and Calendar app tells me every day at the same time that my Live Account Settings are out of date! Every 24 hours exactly. I have to either go to settings and accounts and log in to my live account through there and then try to sync over and over or manually log in via a browser and then sync and wait or sometimes restart to get it working again. I can't log in through the mail app or use fix or any of that it doesn't work! I tried re adding my account. I'm so sick of doing this every day once a day. Is this some kind of 24 hour security setting somewhere I can change? I can log in to the store app just fine with a form that looks exactly like the one the mail app uses except the mail app always refuses my log in when this settings out of date thing happens. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

I've gone through the write up on solving the problem "Your a/c settings are out of date" available on Microsoft Support Site. On clicking Settings of Mail app-> Manage A/c-> Yahoo a/c, the Yahoo A/c settings opens. There an old password of 16 characters is shown. My current password is 11 characters. I tried to change the Yahoo A/c Settings password to 11 characters several times but failed. I even ran "CCleaner" to remove "Saved Passwords" -> Restarted. No success. I Uninstalled "Mail" App using Windows Powershell & Reinstalled from Windows Store. Still no success. A screen shot of the "Yahoo A/c Setting with 16 character Password" is enclosed.

My calendar in Windows 10 is constantly alerting me that its settings are out of date for 2 accounts. It requests I submit the password to update, which I do, but it never updates and routinely bleeps to tell me I need to update them. This makes the calendar absolutely useless to me (doesn't sync with anything) and is also very annoying.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this please???

When viewing the software downloads page, all of the update dates are newer than the release dates.  And they are all very close to current date (Jun 20).  Running the HP tool doesn't show any update is needed.  So I'm puzzled. Are all these drivers/patches really out of date or is the earlier release date still the correct one.  Surprised that every available update shows close to current date.

A:Update Date does not Match Release Date

Hi: The date you see next to the actual driver exe file is the correct driver date. The 'update' date you see is because HP redesigned the website and had to upload many of the drivers again.

Hi,

Apologies in advance if this is not the right area. I was directed here by a Support Engineer in the

Microsoft Community forum. If this is not the right place, please let me know the best place to post this question.

The question presented on domain PCs after clicking 'Settings  > Change PC Settings > Accounts > Connect to a Microsoft account' is:

Which PC settings from your Microsoft account do you want to sync with your domain account?

The options are:

Start Screen
Appearance
Desktop personalization
Apps (list of apps you've installed)
Passwords (apps, websites, and networks)
App Data
Language Preferences
Ease of Access
Other Windows Settings
Web browser (open tabs, history, and favorites)

What I'm looking for is more information about all these options. For example, what is synced with a domain account when the 'App Data' or 'Other Windows Settings' boxes are checked? Those are very vague descriptions, and I'm trying to figure out
what exactly is synced when these options are selected.

Thanks!

This thread has led me to do some preliminary research into how Windows uses the 'Date' formats available.

   Tip
To access custom date formats go to Control Panel -> Clock, Language, and Region -> Region and Language and click 'Additional Settings...'

Using 'Custom' date formats seems to result in an abnormality with the way applications read the current system date. I've included a couple of examples below...

1 prime example is if you wish to have a more detailed Date on the taskbar which included the day you'd set the following custom date format "ddd dd/mm/yyyy"..

However...The space between the "ddd" and "dd" causes the following abnormalities.

Task Scheduler - Notice the date now has spaces instead of "/"

Same happens in Excel when formatting cells

I also changed them back so as to demonstrate how the default settings work perfectly well.

Task Scheduler - Back to normal

Excel - Back to normal

So as a warning to all who like to use 'Custom' date formats, please be aware that it will alter the way Windows & other apps read the current system date depending on what you've changed & how.

OS

A:Custom Date Settings...Inconcistencies

i've found the system format uses whatever the char. is after the initial ddd as the seperator, if you use

ddd dd/mm/yyyy you get Mon 08 11 2010
ddd, dd/mm/yyyy you get Mon, 08,11,2010

dddd dd/mm/yyyy similarly gives Monday 08 11 2010
dddd, dd/mm/yyyy gives Monday, 08,11,2010

unfortunately ddd/ .... gives Mon/ 08/11/2010.

this messes up the cell formatting, etc in MS office (excel). using a custom format of 'ddd dd/mm/yyyy' rather than a date format works however.

I have tried from the taskbar to reset and from the boot up settings. As soon as i shut down the pc, the next time i boot up it sets itself to 1/1/2005 00.01a m. I have tried to update from the internet time server but each time get an error message saying the last known configuration could not be found.

No. Restore will restore ALL files and settings to a previous state. On the other hand, if you wanted to restore your system files, then you would have to do a repair install.

Your problem seems to be with "Replay Music" and not Windows XP. I would try reinstalling the application.

Every time I press the power button on my computer, my computer boots up the keyboard, mouse, harddrives, etc.
BUT then i get an error message saying that time and date settings are incorrect. I took a picture on this:

I press F1 to enter setup to fix the issue (inside the bios setup):

It restarts then no error message comes up. However when I shut down the computer at night and open it again the next day the error message comes up again?
Any ideas on how to keep the time the same and get rid of the error message.

Now I seemed to really messed up trying to delete Adobe Reader & Acrobat and instead of using their uninstall programs, I used Windows Install Cleaner & well, it left some things behind that is prohibiting me from doing a clean install of Acrobat.

So I was wondering if there was any type of default registry in win7 that allows me to reset the computer to an earlier date before my goof up?

Thanks.

Hi,I don't really use Flash except for when an occasional webpage has something on it, I guess...I just checked and see that I have Flash Version 9,0,28,0. The latest version on the Flash website is 9,0,47,0.1. I thought I read something about there being security vulnerabilities in older versions of Flash? Would this effect me? Should I update to the newest version? (Are there any downsides to updating?) Or am I okay with my current version?2. If I do update, do I need to download/run the Flash uninstaller first? Then download/install the newest version of Flash?3. I'm also wondering what are the best/safest settings to have on each tab of the Flash Settings Manager:http://www.macromedia.com/support/document..._manager02.html(I didn't even realize such a think existed until this morning -- and am wondering if I may have "unsafe" settings currently...)4. I use Firefox, so I don't think I even have Flash installed for IE (so I wasn't going to bother downloading the one for that). But how can I make sure I don't have Flash for IE installed currently?Any help is appreciated -- thanks!

A:Need To Update Flash? What Settings In Settings Manager?

1. I cant help you with this one but I will say that most companies recommend their newest versions because they usually include security patchs or other updates.2. I'm not a hundred percent clear on what your asking here but you click the link on this site here to download the installer.http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/do...mp;promoid=BIOWWhen it is completely finished downloading, doubleclick the installer icon.Or maybe you were looking specifically for thishttps://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7Its the second one down. This is the flash player firefox add-on from the Mozilla website.*****I just checked the second link, it only redirects you to the first one.3. I would set all of the options you can to ask. That way if a legitimate Flash object is used you can approve it. If you typing an email (for example) and a suspicious flash alert pops up, you can kill it by denying it. (A small popup box will appear each time a flash object is present. Under the storage options it is up to you how much data you allow to be stored on your computer. Hi guys,
My Laptop Inspiron 1525,Windows 7Ultimate,32 bit, started to display an out- of-date error frequently ,When I adjust the date and time  setting in the BIOS ,the problem again appears on the next day.Would anyone suggest a remedy for this problem.
Regards

A:BIOS error(out of date) frequent message

Hi TARMOH,
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? Is the adapter frayed? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
If possible, update / flash the BIOS - http://dell.to/2dcAKFq
Restart and enter BIOS and reset defaults - save and exit and check again. Also, ensure the time in Windows is set to current local time and date.
If the issue is still unresolved, then download the service manual here - http://dell.to/2cEg4VT - and reseat the cmos battery and check.
If it still does not work, then replace the CMOS battery, you would need this part - http://bit.ly/2cOxWuM
If the issue stands unresolved, then you would need to replace the motherboard.
Personally, I would suggest you to invest your money on a new machine than to repair this old system.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Outlook Express 6: When I view my sent items folder, the date & time in the SENT column displays the actual date / time that the message was sent. However, when I open the messasge to forward, print etc., the date displayed in the header changes to the current date & time. How do I fix this?

I've updated the BIOS and set the date and time in the BIOS but it flushes it to null values (00:00 & mm/dd/yyyy) every time it shuts down (no prob. if you just restart). If you hit F1, it boots fine and displays the correct date and time in Windows. Bad CMOS battery? But it's never unplugged... shouldn't it still hold onto that info. so long as it's connected to a power source - or is power completely interrupted when in Shut Down? I've run the full, 5hr. diagnostic in the BIOS and get no errors.

A:Black Screen Message: Time & Date Not Set

Hi there @Scott23, Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that your system is loosing the date and time when you restart the computer. I am happy to give you a hand with this.  It does sound like a CMOS battery issue. When a computer is powered down the CMOS battery is what would maintain the date and time. When the date and time is set, and as long as the system is powered the date and time is not going to reset, but if the battery is bad and the system is powered down or if there is a power flicker, you are likely to lose the date and time.  So looking at the HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Motherboard Specifications, (Laurel-G), they do not mention anything about the battery, but from the photo it appears to be the disk-like item in the lower right. You may want to contact phone support over this if you wish to replace the battery. Please use the following http://www.hp.com/contacthp and create a case for your issue and contact HP. If you live outside the US/Canada, please click the link below to get the contact information for your region. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html Please let me know how that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Hi, I need to have 2 separate OE running on the same PC, and just wanted to confirm the method of doing so, as I don't want to mess up the current set up

To export account settings: Tools>Accounts> Choose account> Export> Save to HD

To import, is it fairly straight forward?

To export saved messages, I believe you locate the store folder and then save.

Seems easy enough but I've had problems in the past with OE so just wanted to check

A:Exporting account settings in OE

Yes that is how you do it
Export
Click on tools and then select accounts from the pull down menu.
Select (single left click) your internet account and then click the Export button
Navigate to where you want to save the settings, enter a name in the filename box (or leave it as it is) and then click the Save button.
Import
First of all open up the Outlook Express program into which you want to import your account settings.
Next, click on tools and then select accounts from the pull down menu.
Click on the Import button and you will be presented with the Import Internet Account
Navigate to the folder where you have saved your exported files and select (left click on) the account you wish to import then simply click the Open button.

Hi all, this is my first post on Seven Forum

This is also my first experience with the security scheme of Windows 7. I'm used to having total ownership in XP, so I started messing with the permissions and ownerships in my account all willy-nilly until - predictably - it's causing all kinds of weird behavior.

I don't want to reinstall, instead I'd like to migrate to migrate to Win7's hidden super-administrator account and start using that as my default account. (This computer never hooks up to a network, so I'm not worried about using the super admin account on a daily basis.)

What would be the best way to migrate my account's settings (programs, customizations, etc.) to the admin account, without also transferring the permissions and ownerships?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

On mail app, it shows outlook is out dated settings, click to fix => nothing happen ??
Search for account in settings, select account=> manage => show sign in on Edge, sign in ok, but it doesn't change anything.
Soft reset, hard reset (about/reset, don't erase sd card)=> reboot a tons of times=> nothing change.
The phone can still receive gmail, phone call is ok, it just lost all info thanks to the outlook account failure.

Hi there.

I've installed Windows 8 Pro x64 and created an accout. Although this is an administrator account, the system is always asking for permissions.

Example.
If I do WIN+R and type cmd and in the command prompt window type defrag c: /X I get a message saying that I don't have the privileges. I have to search for cmd, right click and choose Run as administrator.

I've enabled the built in administrator account and now, all apps run as administrator.

I've renamed my Administrator account to some other name.

This is my question.

Is it possible to copy definitions (like start screen) from the original user to the administrator?

thanks,

Hi,
I'm using Sony Vaio laptop with Windows 8.1.
Recently something happened and the screen became black. I tried to recover the original wallpaper but couldn't do it. At the same time the keyboard stopped working.
I discovered that this is connected to the user account. As I had to reinstall the system anyway, I set a new Windows user account with a different name and the laptop started to work properly.
I would like to avoid changing users in case this situation repeats. Could you tell me what I should do (to change in user accoung settings) if I have similar problem in the future?
Thanks in advance.

So i recently build my brother a PC for Christmas and i have installed windows 7 pro on it. its working fine and dandy however when i try to run the next lot of windows updates it tells me that i am up to date, when i know that I'm not. I have run 3 round of windows update and installed something close to 300 updates and not one has failed but when i try to update the next lot it wont let me. I know that i need to update from previous experience and it is still in the original UI from early service pack 1 (it changes slightly with one of the updates) which allows the task bar to be colour customisable. I have run the trouble shooter and everything was fixed and the only error I got was the 0x80070005 error. But i still can't update. Anyone know what it going on here? I've also ran the update readiness tool, and reset the windows update components which didn't work either.

This thing started appearing a few days ago. I don't trust it. It appears when I reboot, and I also see it in the morning after the PC has been idle. (I don't shut it down at night, I log off everything and just the monitor goes to sleep.)
I don't tell it to update anything, I click the X and it goes away for a while. There's also a quick-launch button on the far right that appears to be associated with it. (See screen capture 1).

1. I don't use IE, I use Chrome, but I keep IE installed for trouble-shooting purposes, e.g. to see if a problem is browser specific. I have IE set for automatic updates. (Screen capture 2).

2. I ran Spybot when I first spotted this, it found nothing to be alarmed about. Avira runs every night also, no warnings there either.

3. I've checked the official Microsoft site, it says my version of IE is NOT out of date. (Screen capture 3).

4. I found the program that appears to be the one displaying this message in the list of programs (UpdateAdmin). My first instinct was to uninstall it, but I want to make sure it's not something I need. (Screen capture 4).

So what is this thing? Can I safely uninstall it?

Hi,

Could be malware or it could be one of those 'optional' extras you forgot to untick. Lets see what we can find out about it.

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.

Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2
Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
Copy the contents of the following codebox into the main textfield:

Code:
:folderfind
*UpdateAdmin*

Click the Look button to start the scan.
When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

I have to go out for a couple of hours but will have a look when I get back.

I've set up a limited account on my computer, and when I was testing it out, I noticed that I was able to manipulate the settings to the anti-virus program that's installed. How do I, using my administrator account, prevent the limited account from messing with it? I've hidden as many folders as possible, but the task bar icon is still visible and I can't hide it. And I can't right-click the task bar icon and mess with the security settings that way.

A:User account permission settings

Robwood,

The problem is more with your Internet Security software than with Vista. If you make the files for the Internet Security software inaccessible to a limited user - that software might not work properly for that user. Most Internet Security software (i.e. Norton, McAfee) allows you to install parental controls and give you the ability to control WHAT Windows users can or cannot do (including the manipulation of the software's settings).

What Internet Security Software are you using? Have you installed parental controls? Did you install the software while logged in as "Administrator"?

Let me know and I can probably offer more assistance.

Running 3 PCs on Windows 7 Pro 64, and I am attempting to get caught up on security. Have been running on a password protected Admin account using Private Firewall and 360 TS but with UAC turned off. I would like to experiment with a limited rights account with UAC on, so I am looking for input on how to set up the account and UAC for this.

I have many programs already installed. Is this going to be a problem? Also, is this going to be a problem for a-v/firewall programs already installed? Will, for example, a-v or Private Firewall have problems? Also, what about program settings? Can I change them running in a limited rights account?

As far as Windows 7 (specifically compared to 8.1/10) goes, is this real security punch so to speak? I particularly want to limit the ability of cypto viruses from being an issue, but I also would like protection for my personal files from alteration/encryption. Curious about whether most malware can get around UAC and limited rights.

Any input valued highly!

A:Limited Rights Account and UAC settings

Using a standard (limited rights) account can improve the security of your system against malware - it really depends on the situation, for example, what the malware on your system is trying to do.

Normally, security software starts up one way or another as the system is booting (usually through a device driver which would come together with a windows service). They also avoid having User Account Control prompts after the user logs in, whilst keeping administrator (or SYSTEM) rights on their processes. This means, even if you are using a standard account on Windows, the security software should still function correctly without requiring User Account Control consent all the time. Although, I should point out that there are less advanced or matured security products out there which will not function properly without the required privileges, nor have the ability to work like the bigger security products and sort themselves out without requiring regular User Account Control consent from the user.

If you wish to install or tamper with the installation of existing security software, usually this will require administrator rights. For example, if you wanted to install Avast Antivirus you would require administrator rights (since the installer would wish to do things which more desired rights are required to do due to windows security - such as install device drivers, drop in protected directories like Program Files, etc).

I installed an APC battery backup yesterday along with the required software. Now every time I boot up, the message about "do I want this program to make changes to your computer" comes up. I have the software installed in my startup folder so don't know why I have to see this at each boot up. Any way to disarm this message? I know the notification area on user accounts control settings probably would do it but not sure if I should change that setting. Thanks.

Hello Patriceltic, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Yeah, I have the same issue with APC PowerChute doing this.

You could use the tutorial below to create a elevated task shortcut to run the C:\Program Files (x86)\APC\APC PowerChute Personal Edition\Display.exe file without a UAV prompt.Elevated Program Shortcut without UAC Prompt - Create
Afterwards, you can use this elevated task shortcut with step 15 in the tutorial below to setup a separate task to run at startup?Task - Create to Run a Program at Startup and Log On
When finished, delete APC UPS Status from the Startup folder in the Start Menu. This will only not give a UAC prompt for administrator accounts though.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I purchased a new Dell 1764 Win 7 Professional about 2-weeks ago and have been learning how to use Win 7 - I consider myself an old XP guy!

I was in the windows explorer to see who was listed inder the Users directory where I found a directory with my name on it. I double clicked and noted the contents of the directory was the same as in XP. I clicked on the Local Settings directory (I temporarily turned off the "hide protected operating system files" option to see if contents was the same) and got a message that access was denied. I was told by a tech that this was normal in Win 7 in order to stop people from changing options, etc. which could cause problems.

My question is this - was the tech correct by saying it was locked for protection? If the answer is yes, then who can access the directory? (I have system administrator rights.

A:User account - Local Settings

Hello Pierre,

Yes, he was correct. The faded shortcut protected OS folders are actually only "junction points" to the actual folder instead, and are not real folders. They are used for backwards compatibility for older XP type applications that still reference them by default instead of the newer default locations in Vista and Windows 7 now. They redirect the older application to the new Vista and Windows 7 locations instead.
Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hello all....

I'm just wondering what all of you are running (if at all) your UAC at? Post and let us know.

I have mine set at "full"; slider all the way up. I've seen from experience over at x64 that it's a bad idea to operate with it disabled...
People that (supposedly...) know what they're doing getting infected!

Just curious.

I have a problem with OE. Each time I log on and check for mail, I don't receive any, even though I know some has been sent to my inbox. A way around this is to go into Tools and Accounts and remove my Account Settings and then add them again. Then the email comes through. I have tried disabling McAfee Spamkiller and this still does not resolve the issue. Having to remove and add the settings each time I log on is a pain of course.....any ideas how to resolve this?
Thanks in anticipation.

Update - 9/8/15

Fixed by reinstalling Windows fresh (Again).

I think the problem was caused by installing Windows linked with my Microsoft account and then switching that to a local user. My Microsoft account was registered for the insider program so perhaps I was receiving the fast updates and switching to a local account put me on slow updates which got Windows Update muddled in the confusion.

Original Post

Windows Update appears to be stuck/broken. It displays this loading animation even when left alone for an entire day (See screenshot). All the other panels such as Windows Defender will display their available options, it is only Windows Update that will not show.

This is a clean install of Windows 10 Home.

I have made some alterations to the service configuration, disabling what I had been advised as unnecessary services. I have reverted as many of those changes as I could remember but it is a possibility that one of those changes caused this.

Background Intelligent Transfer service is "Running" and set to "Automatic (Delayed Start)".
Windows Update service is "Running" and set to "Manual (Trigger Start)".

8 Aug 15 - Edit: I have cross referenced services with another computer with an unaltered fresh install of Windows 10 Home. No difference in service configuration was found.

Internet connectivity is stable. Network profile is "Public". No alterations have been made to the default network configuration.

I have done exactly the same fixes as you - to no avail. Nothing works. I am surprised by a lack of response by Microsoft. In addition to not being able to update, i cannot update the definitions for Windows Defender. This issue has definitely something to do with BITS.

Just posting as a warning to others (and to vent my annoyance a bit)

I always set up my Windows update settings to "check and notify but don't download and install unless I tell you to" to prevent HDD thrashing, performance downgrading at the worst possible times and annoying "oh, you need to restart" notifications.

All working fine... but yesterday I notice some random and annoying HDD thrashing, bit later on the windows update restart notification wants to restart the computer ... what ?

It turns out my update settings had been reset to "automatically download and install (recommended)" without my knowledge and express permission. I was not amused .

And no, nobody else but me has access to the computer, much less someone who knows from where the windows update settings can be modified. And I doubt any malware/virus would be interested in keeping my windows up to date automatically.

Don't know what exact update caused it, but I know I will disable all windows updates if this happens again.

this is one of those Windows 8 [and Windows 10 now] "features" that drives me and a lot of other people nuts.
Why is it that I get different "answers", different results, different behavior, from the Control Panel "Windows Update" utility vs the PC Settings "Windows Update" utility? [And why does the latter throw an error when I press the Windows Key?] ?

dumb... I look in Control Panel/Windows Update and, for instance, will have "ready to install" a few updates - nice, clean, ready to go. I look in the Windows 8 [multi-step, slow, cumbersome] Windows Update and I have "check now"... hit the check now button, spin/spin/spin, may or may not get a response. Pressing the Windows Key to return to the relative tranquility of my desktop and it throws an error from 'Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library' "Runtime Error Program: C:\Windows\ImmersiveControlPanel\SystemSettings.exe" This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. I prefer the control panel versions too, just right click action center flag icon choose Open Windows Update and away we go. What nerves me with the immersive version is looking at the history, it's much easier to read in the control panel version. I guess that's why the registry hack came out so quick in 10TP.

I was talking with my friend and she told me to up update my laptop to the the Anniversary update. But, when I go into my update settings, it tells me that Windows is up to date, and I can confirm that I don't already have the Anniversary update. I did perform the "check for updates" option but it still came with the same result.

I tried searching online but there was no luck. Hoping an expert could help me solve why my laptop is not letting be update.

A:Windows is up to date, but I don't have the Anniversary Update

I think Microsoft were gradually upgrading computers in phases, rather than all at once, so perhaps they haven't enabled yours yet. That said, they were supposed to be doing new hardware, and I notice my really old laptop (upgraded all the way from XP bit-by-bit) updated itself when I switched it on this week.

You can force it to upgrade if you like - see this tutorial: Windows 10 - Upgrade Installation
Step 4 links to the Microsoft website which contains a link to start the upgrade; alternatively you can download the ISO installer using later steps in that tutorial.

A word of caution - if Microsoft haven't enabled your machine yet, there may be good reason.
If you want to upgrade yourself I would take the opportunity to make a backup image (I use Macrium Reflect but other tools are available) before starting an upgrade.

You should still be getting security patches and updates and if I'm honest there isn't much in the Anniversary Update which makes it a 'must have' for me, so the other option is to wait a little longer.

Hi,
My Windows 10 Home 64-bit automatic updates work well.
My Windows version 1511, which I think is out of date. There have been many improvements.
and I want to the anniversary update which will upgrade the Window version to 1607.

However, when I downloaded and run the filename(windows10update9252.exe), which is the anniversary update file name, which will install the version number 1607

When run the 'Windows10Upgrade9252', I found this "Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant" was installed and lunched. When I checked the 'Windows 10 upgrade Assistant', I found it took about two hours and still its progress percent says 9%.(screen shot below) I think it will take ten hours to be complete. How big is the Windows update to upgrade Windows to the version number 1607. I am afraid that that update file size is 4 GB which is as big as the whole Windows 10 installation file. My Internet Speed is 512Kbps

Do you recommend I can let it complete whatever it took or I can get the "Windows 10" up to date with the Media Creation Tool( i.e. downloading another latest version of Windows 10 with Media Creation Tool)

A:Get up to date with the MediaCreationTool or get Anniversary Update

Hi, each major build upgrade is the size of a complete Windows installation.
I recommend you download it manually. Why? Then you can create a physical boot medium, which is useful if you need it for either recovery purposes, accessing files from outside Windows avoiding permissions issues (it's one way to do it), or an in-place repair install.

Further, if you need to make more than one attempt to upgrade- or use it for more than on PC- you save downloads.

Hello - I made an account just to ask this question...

My Time & Date on my laptop is stuck, and I can't update windows at all.
I get an error that says "Windows cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running."
So I installed Microsoft Fixit and the problem found was "Some security settings are missing or have been changed"
Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you in advance...

I have a spreadsheat that I periodically update, and in the lower left hand corner I manually type the date that the information is updated. Is there a macro or such that will automatically update the date when the spreadhseat is opened?

A:Auto update the date in Excel

Do you want the macro to change the date when the workbook is opened or everytime it is saved?

There are two events you can choose from to place the macro. Both events are in the workbook Module. With the Workbook open, press ALT + F11 to bring up the Visual Basic editor. On the left side of the editor window you will see your project explorer. Find the item called ThisWorkbook and double click it. This will bring up a blank workbook module. Just copy and paste either of the two code modules below. Just change the destination location of the date which I have made "A33" in the code. The first code is for the Before_Save event and the second is for the Workbook_Open event.
Code:

Private Sub Workbook_BeforeSave(ByVal SaveAsUI As Boolean, Cancel As Boolean)
Range("A33").value = Date
End Sub
or

Code:

Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Range("A33").value = Date

End Sub
