Notebook model: 13-u105nl Memory and hdd Upgrade

Q: Notebook model: 13-u105nl Memory and hdd Upgrade

Hello, For the model in Subject, it's possible upgrade the RAM? If yes, what is the max? Is also possible change the HDD to SSD? Thank you.

A: Notebook model: 13-u105nl Memory and hdd Upgrade

The memory is upgradeable to 16 gigs of DDR4-2133 in 2 slots or 2 x 8 gig. It can take an M.2 mSSD drive, but only as an alternative to a regular 2.5 inch hard drive. There is a single bay and port and which drive you install depends on the adapter used. HP has not yet posted a Manual for the 13-u100 series but the Manual for the 13-u000 series is available and shows access to the M.2 slot and memory. Manual See pages 42 and 56. Memory upgrade is particularly challenging as it requires removal of the motherboard. Post back with any questions. If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hi All! Last weekend I updated the memory RAM of my laptop HP ENVY Notebook - 15-k277ca. The machine has 1 module of 8GB by factory, so I've bought another module of 8GB (same Brand and same rate). But the problem is that the machine did not recognize this second module, neither in BIOS nor SO. Currently I'm running Windows 10 Enterprise x64. The weird part is that I've downloaded the CPU-Z, and this software recognizes the two modules. Any idea?  Here are the image of the CPU-Z software (where the memories are recognized)

I have Samsung 4Gb DDR3L 1600Mhz RAM (M471B5173DB0) installed in my laptop - HP 15-r063tu Notebook. I want to upgrade the same with a Corsair 4Gb DDR3L 1600Mhz RAM (CMSO4GX3M1A1600C11), as the exact Samsung RAM is not available and is also about 40% more expensive than the Corsair / Transcend ones. Will my laptop motherboard &/ BIOS accept the above Corsair RAM alongwith the current Samsung one, or do I need to necessarily buy the exact Samsung make & model of RAM ? As the tech specs of the above Samsung & Corsair RAMs match, I assume they should work fine together, but am told that sometimes the motherboard &/ BIOS doesn't allow RAMs of different makes to be installed, even if their specs match. Would help if someone can confirm on this, so I can buy accordingly. Thanks a lot.

My dv6 has gotten severely slow. I am currently running Windows 10, and right now it takes 15-20 minutes to wake it up from sleep and log in. Ive done a lot of cleaning and optimizing, but nothing has gotten better on it. It get's very warm very quickly and the fan always seems to be on high. I am looking to try and upgrade the memory, and maybe the processor (to quad-core) at least if possible to see if the performance will get any better. I can barely do anything on it now because it takes way too long! I do have a 1 TB HDD installed a few years ago and that has been working well, but everyday web browsing, microsoft office products and light photo/video editing once in a while are nearly impossible! I have an HP Pavilion xf125 notebook, and would like to upgrade the memory. It has 384mb now. I don't know how much memory it will hold, or if it's even upgradable anymore since it's so old (2002 I think). The reason I want to upgrade is because it crashes pretty easy. I was thinking more memory would help solve this problem. Any advice would help... but no need to suggest I buy a new computer because I really don't use it all that much to justify the cost of a new one.

I also need a new battery for it, but don't really want to spend a lot... so looking for an inexpensive one. Not sure it's possible to find such a thing anymore. Yes, I have looked on HP's website and they don't have either memory or batteries for it.

Thanks for any helpful advice you can offer.

Currently my notebook has the standard 4GB of memory using the HP provided Hynix HMT451S6AFR8A SoDIMM, 12800 DDR3L-1600, 1.35V. I have been looking to replace it with either Kingston HyperX, HX316LS9IB2_8, DDR3L-1600 (2x4GB) kit or the Crucial Ballistix Sport CT6278900, DDR3L-1600 (2x4GB) kit. Both have 9-9-9 timings. My question is will the memory with lower timings and the density of the chips work on my HP 2000-2d37cl notebook with an AMD A6-5200 CPU? Also I was curious about postings in the forums where persons had lost the Admin or other passwords on theirHP 2000 notebooks or they purchased a used notebook that had a unknown password. They provide the codes from the error on screen and the reply's from techs allowed them to get past this and reset their systems. I hope I never have that problem, however where exactly are the techs getting the codes from? Is there some program or document available that has the code alogrithm? Thank You.

I just attempted to upgrade my memory with a 1GB module from Kingston.

The Notebook has 2 memory bays. 1 memory bay is accessible to the user. I replaced a 256MB module with the new 1GB module. I started the computer up and it booted just fine and pulled up my desktop screen. Then I received the blue screen with a message that Windows was shutting down. I removed the module and re-seated it and tried again. Now it only gets to the Windows screen and then goes to the blue screen. It looked so simple - HELP!!

Where, on the net, can I find a chronology of IBM ThinkPad models, and models by other manufacturers. I have been looking at used notebooks and it is confusing, because I don't know how old the various models are, and that is one good place to start when evaluating used equipment.

I would like to know of any good lists which tell when the various models were developed, i.e., ThinkPad 701C was introduced in March 1995, and had a list price between $3K and $4K, etc.

A:Can I add bluetooth to my hp 15 notebook PC, model 15-g039wm

The most common use of bluetooth is to sync data with a phone which you can do with usb or to attach a bluetooth mouse or keyboard or headset like if you wanted to do Rosetta Stone or something like that. It is not used to network with other computers, usually. If you have never actually used bluetooth I can't see why you need to have it. If you feel you are missing something the really easy way to add bluetooth is with a very cheap usb bluetooth dongle.  $10 on amazon.com The other method would involve removing and replacing the wireless card to install one that does both wi-fi and bluetooth. It would cost maybe $40-50 for the card but is not an easy task on your model of laptop. There is no easy access door and would require fairly complete disassembly and would jeopardize the warranty.  Bluetooth is a premium feature usually not provided at the low end of laptop price points, such as Wal-Mart models.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hi there,

I've recently upgraded from my Satellite Pro M40 to a L650 because the M40 died.
I was wondering if I could use the ram that I put in it, into the L650?

I'm guessing it won't, but thought I'd ask just in case.

Thanks

A:Will RAM from Satellite Pro M40 fit L650 notebook model?

Sorry but I don?t know why this combination. Max RAM on M40 is 2x1GB and I think you have in L650 2x2GB. Right?

It is not logic to me.
I don?t know which L650 do you have exactly but some models can be upgraded up to 8GB so it will be better for you to upgrade L650 with one 4GB RAM. Part number is PA3677U-1M4G.

By the way: there is different bus clock so on new notebook you should use compatible and faster modules only.

Hello, I have a HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC (Model 17-j000eb). I have a HDD disk of 1TB in the primary slot. I have also a second slot. I want to put there an SSD. My only question is, how do I know what type of connection that I have to order? Which things are important to watch out when I order an SSD for this notebook? I will also need an adapter + cable. I assume that the cable to the HDDII port has to be a lot less long then for the HDDI port.I want to do this action because the laptop is going slower and slower. So on the SSD I want to put on the operating system and want to use the HDD as data disk only. Can you help me about this? Thanks in advance

A:Add SSD to HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC (Model 17-j000eb)

Hi, Firstly you need a caddy and cable before you can add. Please check availability from the following site:                http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=498 After that, my suggestion: Clone existing HDD to new SSD, can be same size or smaller (capacity) depending on your existing data/files on HDD now,Swap SSD and HDD. All normal 2.5" SSD's for laptops use same connectors as normal 2.5" HDD's for laptops  Format the old HDD and put it on the second slot/bay.I believe this is a quickest way to get everything works. Regards.

I have the following information on the base of the machine:

TOSIBA Tecra 8200
Model No: PT820E-05WQT-E
Serial No: 61276516G ST820-0

It is a Pentium 3 machine but is it an: A / M / R / S series? Then what model do I select after that please?

Thanks.

A:Tecra 8200 - Which notebook Model number do I have?

Your Tecra is simply Tecra 8200 and there is no other model number.
Drivers you can find on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads but under Product type you must choose option ARCHIVE.

Then you will find option for Tecra 8200.

Good luck!

Hi.  I have a:HP Pavilion g4-1125dx Notebook PCModel #: LW342UA When it was upgraded to windows 10 i lost all USB functionality.  The device manager is using a driver but it isn't functioning properly.  'Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller' and 'Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller' have the yellow exclaimation point with USB symbol next to them.  Under properties it reads: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39){Unable to Load Device Driver}%hs device driver could not be loaded.Error Status was 0x%x When i try to roll back the driver nothing is available.  When i try to update it says i already have the best driver.  I tried windows update and the Driver Easy software but no luck there. I confirmed that i do infact have power getting to the ports (via usb fan :/) so i don't believe it is a hardware problem, especially since it was working prior to upgrade. I know its an older laptop but I Upgraded the CPU to a Phenom II N970 quad core and the darn thing runs so good i hate to give up on her.  Ethernet and Wireless are working properly and there are no other troubled hardware issues. Thanks in advance,Cory

Hi, I'm trying to find out just how much memory I can add to my laptop, it's Inspiron 17 model 3737, it has Kingston PC3L 12800S, 1600 MHz, 204 Pin, 4 GB install from dell and I was wanting to add 8 more GB to laptop to make it 12 GB, in reading thru some things on the computer it says it can support up to 16 GB of memory. But after reading in some of the forums people are saying that you can only add 4 more GB of memory.
I would hope some one out there can help me and tell me that yes 16GB is right, and just adding 8BG to have 12GB is fine,
Thanks
Ben

A:17R LAPTOP MODEL 3737 MEMORY

Hello, well I did some checking and to me it seemed I could add more than up to just have a total of 8GB of memory, so I ordered 1 stick of Kingston PC3L 12800, 1600 of memory the same brand of the 4GB memory the Dell 17r model 3737 came with, I wanted to stick with the same brand,So for the heck of it ordered and installed and well low and behold when I went in and checked system it is showing that I have 12GB of memory. So what it says of what I read on the computer was right, I can go up to 16GB if need be. But I think 12GB is more than enough memory for what I'm using my computer for, most web, and 2010 Office loaded like a champ with no problems. And is Duel Channel DDR3L SODIMM. So if anyone else is looking to up grade their memory look into your system and it will tell you.
But 30YEAREXPERT Thank you anyway for trying to help me and I do appreciate you time and help.

A:B590 - Memory for Lenovo Model 59410449

Hi AC2000 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Based on the product specification for this model , memory :
8GB max7 / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3, non-parity, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets; * System automatically clocks down for processors with 1333MHz memory controller

This is the recommended Max memory supported for your model eventhou some processors can handle more (example : 15- 4310U handling 16 GB) since certain consideration are maintained by the systemboard and BIOS for full functionality and avoid non essential upgrades for users.

Your 6 GB ram probably have 2GB and 4 GB (PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3) at the moment so you can simply match the a similar 4GB to max it to 8GB and be able to use dual channel synch for faster communication and transfer.

Hope this helped answer your query.
Update us what works best for you.

Hello, I own a Pavilion 15-n070sw (no longer under warranty) and was wondering about upgrading my hdd drive to ssd. However I noticed some users reporting compatibility problems between this model and ssd drive (+ there is no option to set AHCI mode in BIOS settings..). Since I don't want to invest money in a drive I won't be able to use, I wanted to double check here - will this model support a ssd drive? Many thanks in advance for clearing that up for me! M

A:Is it possible to upgrade hard drive in this model?

Yes it absolutely will accept an SSD. There is no need to mess with the BIOS as the only setting for storage controller is ahci. You could not set it to anything else if you wanted to. Windows 7 and higher will simply enable TRIM and NCQ which is what you need for SSD optimization. A lot of tutorials out there come from an earlier era when it was more difficult to get an SSD working. Here is the Service Manual: Manual Pages 63-70 are the "how to" for removing the top cover and replacing the hard drive with a SATA 2.5 inch SSD. I can recommend a Samsung 850 Evo as the best consumer SSD, but many others are good and you can shop for a deal.  The trick to this is planning in advance how you will reinstall Windows clean or clone or install from a Windows system image backup. All are viable options but have their own procedures and pitfalls. We can help with that.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I want a lan driver for window 7 for my desktop, as its getting hanged while working online,,but I could not find any drivers to download in hp website

A:software upgrade not found for my model

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome! I just checked and indeed there is a driver for LAN available - it can be downloaded from here >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/Compaq-Presario-SG3000-Desktop-PC-series/3746749/mod... as well as other drivers. The problem is that the driver is listed under Windows Vista and might not work on Windows 7. Problem is your computer is a bit old. Officially, your computer does not support Windows 7 - only Windows Vista. This means that there are no certified drivers available for Windows 7 or newer, only for Vista. It is recommended that you use Windows Vista on this computer.  Another options you may have :1) If you want, you can try with newer OS such as Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 - they may have drivers built-in2) You may try to install the Win Vista driver on Windows 7 - but no guarantee it will work fine3) You can consider using GNU/Linux based operating system instead of Windows. http://www.whylinuxisbetter.net/ . You can try Ubuntu or Linux Mint4) If you decide to stick to Windows 7, you can provide me with the hardware ID of the LAN network adapter and I might be able to find some appropriate driver for the LAN card (but no guarantee). Here is how you can provide it >> http://www.wikihow.com/Find-Hardware-ID  Let me know which option you choose. Looking forward to your reply!

It depends. If the notebook is an Intel platform model then the maximum installed memory  is 16GB.If the notebook is an AMD platform model, then the maximum  amount of installed memory is 8GB. The steps to access the memory module slot(s) are in the following manual on page 56.http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04513798 For a successful upgrade, only use guaranteed compatible, lifetime warrantied memory modules from a major memory manufacturer. Install the modules in pairs of identical modules, except as specified in the following two sentences. The Intel platform model has one customer accessible memory module slot. The Intel platform models have two  customer accessible memory module slots.

I'm trying to add RAM to my laptop and I saw a video on youtube which made it look easy. One of the steps included running a cmd with administrator wich I was unable to do. I ran the cmd, but not with administrator, so the attempt was incomplete. I gave up for a few days. I've renewed my attempt. I searched the question in my subject and found a comment about the exact model number on the HP service tag. I found 3 different numbers on the laptop (that I thought might be model numbers). There is a number above the top right corner of the screen which reads: HP Pavilion dv6000. There are 4 sets of numbers on the HP service tag. I believe that the first top number on the service tag is the exact model number that he mentioned which is - Product: HP Pavilion dv6500. Then there is the serial number s/n: and the p/n: numer and the service tag number which is dv6648se. Am I correct? If you have any easy ways for me to add RAM or memory please let me know.

A:I have a touch smart PC model IQ526. Can I upgrade to Window...

Joe30339 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!Personally, I would advise AGAINST doing the Upgrade.  Why? Because HP does not supply any Win10 drivers for your PC, and if you force the Upgrade, you will then be relegated to generic drivers that Microsoft supplies. While those MIGHT work, if any do not, then you're stuck with hardware that will not fully function, as the HP drivers needed for that hardware simply do not exist. However, if you are determined to press forward, you can protect yourself from upgrade and recovery problems if, BEFORE you do the Upgrade, you consider using a third-party imaging/restoration application like Macrium Reflect to image off your machine so you can easily restore it if anything doesn't work. Macrium Reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or entire drives: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx What I recommend is the following:1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR)2) Run MR and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition(s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB stick3) Use the option to create a boot USB stick or CD My experience is that MR, when using the High Compression option, typically can compress the saved image file to about 50% of the USED space in the OS partition. This means if you have an 80GB OS partition, and 40GB is used, MR only needs about 20GB to store the ima... Read more

A:Satellite Pro A300 - RAM upgrade from older A200 model

Hi xosman,

According the information you posted it seems that the other module from Satellite A200 has the same specifications so if your notebook works with this module it?s no problem I think.

Satellite A200 and A300 using the same DDR2 memory modules so changing the RAM is no problem.

I have the above PC and was hoping to increase the Ram size from 2gig to 4 gig.
I had a fruitless chat with Sony tech support (as usual) and they inform me that 2gig is the max for my machine.
The mobo has 4 ram slots 184pin config and at the moment is carrying 4 x 512m memory sticks type PC3200U and was hoping to fit 4x 1gig type PC3200U sticks. Unfortuately the PC takes for ever to boot with 4 x 1gig sticks in.
Can anyone advise if this machine is at its max of 2gig or can the BIOS be pursuaded to see 4gig?

Hopefully I can workout the new 4 x 1gig sticks config, if not I will have to return them to the supplier. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm new to owning this All In One Dell, and while it has a quad core processor, I have noticed that it is lacking in the graphics department.  I know this unit is quite slim, and am not sure of one's ability to open it up and upgrade specific components inside of it.  It comes with an AMD Radeon R4 integrated graphics card, so my question is if there is any way to buy a better card to put inside of it.  Thank you in advance!

I got a Sony Vaio for some show (I'm a keyboardist), that I need to make into a DAW.
It currently has 4GB RAM, and has space for one more stick.

But I need to know which model is the laptop in order to buy the appropriate stick.
So how do I check that?

A:Solved: Sony Vaio laptop. Want to upgrade RAM. How do I check which model is the lapt

It's usually printed on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop, it's generally also located in the BIOS, and on many Sony's it's also marked on the top or on the screen of the laptop as well. As an example it would look like VGN-FE11H. Occasionally Sony will have two separate model numbers for a single product, so you may want to check all those places if the first one you find doesn't yield any result.

OR, the better option if you want to ensure you buy quality compatible RAM is to use an online scanner, Crucial has their System Scanner that will scan your computer, identify it, and list their compatible RAM for it: http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx

I have just bought some new memory, 2 x 1 gig, inserted it and ran the test. I get one error in the Stride38 test. Address expected is different to the one returned.

I know which chip it is, should I send it back, or is this 1 error acceptable for the system?

Thanks for your response

I have just bought 4GB memory to add to my Hewlett Packard HP15 TS Notebook but I can't find a video showing exactly how to do it. The ones I've seen so far look as if you have practically take the laptop to bits to install, but they are not my model. Where can I find a video which will clearly show it? Is it just the back removal that's needed for my model. Thank you.

A:add memory to HP 15 TS Notebook

The bad news is the memory modules are next to the CPU so you are going to have to take the keyboard off to renew memory.

Bought new notebook a month ago. Went to update windows 10 with ANNIVERSARY UPDATE and told by computer there is not enough memory to do it. There is nothing stored on computer to delete to gain memory!  What can I do to get more memory? Thank You

A:new notebook does not have enough memory

Hi, The following link shows specs of your computer:     http://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04941651 Probably you are talking about storage (ie HDD), not memory (ie RAM). It is a very basic computer, buy then forget, not upgradable in many ways. My suggestion: use the SD card to download files to it, then install from (not to) there. Regards.

Greetings to All:

I have a 5-year old notebook (Dell). It is still behaving well, but because it only has 64MB of RAM, there are some new applications that it will not run. Also, it takes forever to download some large files.

My questions are:

1) Is it even possible to add memory to a notebook PC?

2) If it is possible, would I see significant improvement, re running larger applications and/or faster downloads?

3) (Assuming that the answers to 1 & 2 are "yes"), How much memory should I add? 256? 512?

Thanking you very much in advance.

WillyT

Hello to all,

I have HP4530s laptop with core i-5 CPU-2410M with 4 GB RAM and Radeon Graphics.

In basic System information I see this:
Installed RAM 4GB (2.69 Usable). Does this mean that some of the RAM memory is shared for VGA or not?

How to check whether RAM memory is used for VGA and how much memory is available for VGA??

Thank you

A:Checking VGA memory on notebook

I'm assuming you have a HP ProBook 4530s laptop that's running Windows 7.

Right-click an empty space on the screen, then click "Personalize", then click "Display" - or - go to Control Panel - Display.

Click "Adjust resolution" or "Change display settings, then click "Advanced settings".

Select the "Adapter" tab.

The amount of dedicated and shared RAM for the display device will be listed.

------------------------------------------------------

That model laptop supports up to 8 GB of DDR3 PC3-10600 RAM.

If it's running the 64-bit version of Windows 7, you might consider adding more RAM.

8 GB (4 GB X 2)

Is it possible , can this notebook have this amount of memory.

Hey everyone! My paw says you guys sure know your stuff !!! I've got a Gateway MX8711 laptop with an FSB of 533mhz. I would like to upgrade the memory. Already has 1GB in two slots (2X512). I want to purchase a 1GB for one slot and holdover a 512mb already installed. Totalling 1.5GB.
The best I can make out, is that the memory already installed is DDR2 at 533MHz PC2-4200, 200p SODIMM. A local big box store has 1GB DDR II PC2-5300 (appears to be 667mhz) for $45.

I've got 2 question areas . First:

1. Can/Should I use the PC2-5300 in the laptop?
2. If so, can I/should I mix it with the PC2-4200?

I don't want to screw the computer up.

Second:
Can I install the modules myself of go pro?
Any help is really appreciated!!

I have a home built ASUS A7N8X2 Deluxe MoBo with an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ CPU. I upgraded Win XP Pro to VISTA Ultimate with no problems other than upgrading a few drivers. It went smoothly. At the time I had 1 GB in one of 3 available slots. I attempted to add 2 GB more to occupy all 3 slots. This produced a reboot after POST as VISTA started. I rotated the the modules through all slots and finally realized that when I went beyond 2 GB it produced a reboot. During post it tests 3 GB and the BIOS displays 3 GB. I have 512MB of RAM on the video card. Any suggestions ?? I am running the latest BIOS and if I remove one GB the machine boots and runs great... ???? Ron

I recently purchased a HP-1d60us. It currently has an a4-3320m APU. I was looking around and found that you can upgrade the APU (which makes since because it is just a CPU, which are interchangeable), but I can't find ANY website that sells amd APS, I have found intel mobile CPUS, but no AMD. Does AMD not sell their APU's by themselves? Could someone point me in the right direction, give me a link, or just tell me AMD doesn't sell their mobile APU's.
