browsers say, "can't reach this page"

Q: browsers say, "can't reach this page"

Only happening with this one particular website, and NOT having this problem with any others; just this single one:

Hmm, we can't reach this page.
Try this
Make sure you’ve got the right web address:https://www.hidingthewebsitenameintentionally.com
Refresh the page
Search for what you want

That is when using Edge. Similar type of messages happen when trying to get to the same page in Chrome and in Internet Explorer. I changed the website name, giving a fake one instead of the real one.

My guess is that something is wrong at the website's end and not at my end since I can reach all other sites; just not one particular one. Any good way to check on this? Any other way of testing the vaidness or health of the website?

- Just went to a different computer and tried the website again. Same message, that site can not be reached, refused to connect. The website must have the problem.

Hi,
1. I cannot find a solution for a problem accessing Microsoft forums websites from Windows 10 - IE11 and Edge browsers:
in EDGE - Hmm, we can't reach this page. IE11 this page can't be displayed.
For about a year it worked at least from Edge. Now both cannot access Microsoft forums. All the other sites are accessible.
I am using a corporate proxy. The same sites are accessible from Windows 7 with IE11.
First I blamed our IE GPO with multiple settings. So for a test I placed my machine in Blocked OU (no IE GPO, proxy is set from different GPO).
Everything what I tried didn't help. The question: why just Microsoft forums (no other sites) are not accessible.
Did couple of tests from Windows 7 IE11 machines. The same Microsoft forums are perfectly accessible (all GPOs are applied).
Suddenly, found that one corporate Web App does the same : "This page can't be displayed". On other Windows 7 it does work.
I am out of ideas now... cannot blame anymore our GPO or proxy...
Any advice?
Thanks

I have 2 computers on my home network:
#1 computer can receive email via POP3, can Ping www.sevenforums.com, but can't reach websites via browsers.
#2 computer can reach websites via browsers.

First, via system restore, I restored computer #1 to one earlier time, then another. That didn't solve it.

Second try, I powered down the modem and router and let them sit for 10 minutes before reconnecting power. But, that didn't solve it.

Next, I followed the instructions to upload an image of my IPCONFIG (see attached) and ran FlushDNS.bat as an administrator.

I still cannot browse the internet on #1 computer. Your help will be greatly appreciated!
In case it matters:
Computer #1 is hardwired to router. Runs current Win7 64-bit.
Computer #2 has a wireless connection to router. Runs current Win7 32-bit.

A:NoSurf: Can't reach websites via browsers on 1 of 2 PCs on network.

Could be a proxy setting in IE. See here: How to reset your Internet Explorer proxy settings

Hello
This post is in regards to a website that I'm attempting to access. Within the email there is a highlighted link "Store" where I access a link to purchase my photos.. Clicking on this link Message reads Cannot reach this page, Refresh or Search. Clicking on Refresh nothing happens, click on Search brings up all the connecting websites but each one I try to open they all show the same. Cannot reach this page. This website is the only one that shows that. All others such as My Bank , Kaiser etc all open without incident. I do not understand this .I tried everything I even sent an email to this company about this issue The email could not be sent either , Up until today I have had no problems with this company/website. What happened, and Why? I have Windows 10 Microsoft Edge

A:Cannot Reach this page

1) Right click the link, click on Copy Link, and paste it in the address bar. Does it look like a valid website link?
2) If so, search for, and open, on your computer
iexplore.exe
and paste that link there and try it, does it work?

1. I can access http://www.qmiles.com. On this page you need to enter member number and pin code.
2. Enter any member No and pin code and login
3. Box indicates 'you are about to view pages over a secure connection'. Click OK
4. Requested page does not display. Status bar first indicates 'Opening page https://secure.qmiles.com/FrontPage.jsp', then changes to 'Connecting to 213.130.112.202', and finally 'Done', and displays a page saying 'Page cannot be displayed'

I use windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 and Tiscali broadband. This same problem exists at 4 Tiscali broadband site I have checked in this area, but works OK at an AOL site, and also at 1 Tiscali broadband site a few miles away.
Can you suggest what I should do to be able to view the login page?
This is not a security or firewall problem, as the problem is present even when antivirus and firewall are turned off. As the site is accessible from another site, it does not appear to be a security problem. I can access the secure bank sites.

A:cannot reach a particular web page

I can get to first link but second IP comes as unavailable. Perhaps the page is generated uniquely based on input you provide when logged in and cookies you have on your machine. If you have a bad cookie or temp internet file the page cannot be generated. Try emptying temp internet files and deleting cookies.

I've set Google as my search provider in Edge. If I open a new tab and type where it says: Search or enter web address, I get:

Hmm, we can?t reach this page.

Try this
?Make sure you?ve got the right URL: http://windows%207%20iso%20download
?Refresh the page
?Search for what you want

If I click on the last option, a search opens in Bing.

This is driving me crazy!

A:Edge: Hmm, we cant reach this page?

Does Google look ok as the default search provider in advanced options?

I just tried

Went to Google home page
brought up settings\advanced
clicked the drop down for search box and selected add new
it showed me google was available and I clicked add as default

are these the same steps you took?

I have had this issue so much more often the past week with Edge than my entire time using Windows 10. Is anyone else seeing a increase in this? I cant tell if its a wifi problem (all my other devices using wifi are fine) or a problem caused by a recent update or what, but its so aggravating.

Any tricks or suggestions before I just ditch the Edge browser and rely only on Chrome?

A:Hmmm...cant reach this page

Well after installing Chrome I am also having internet problems. So it's not the Edge browser. Must be a driver. Can someone point me in the right direction to see if my drivers are up to date?

We have 2 wired pc, and a laptop. The PCs are Acer3100+, 1.8ghz, 1G ram, connected via ethernet to a wildblue modem. I have just installed a Belkin wireless router, model F5D 6231-4, that I bought on ebay. Both pcs will go online, a little slower than before, but my big concern is that when I run a cmd, ipconfig/all, my IP address dosen't match what they say. Belkin says it should be 192.168.1, and I get 70.41.xx.xxx, in this range. They said to configure router, but when I enter that page address, I get the notice of a network error. I don't know enough about this to know if this is a security issue or not! If I manually enter the numbers that Belkin should be , I get the correct address in an ipconfig, but I cannot get to the page, or get online. What have I done wrong!!!!

A:Can't reach Belkin configuration page..is this a problem???

the Belkin default address is 192.168.2.1

you're apparently wired like
modem---(wan)belkin-router(LAN)---yourPCs

the WAN side address will be set by your ISP, not belkin and might well be
70.41.xx.xxx, but none of your PCs will see this using IPCONFIG /ALL --
they will see the LAN side addresses. IPCONFIG will show the DHCP address
given to that specific machine. the LAN side address of the belkin should be
the default above, and thus your PC addresses will default to something like
192.168.2.x.

use one PC to access the router config using your browser http://192.168.2.1/
IF NECESSARY, you can change the default router address and the range of IP
addresses that will be assigned to your PCs.

you should absolutely change the admin password

Hi there.
I recently had a trojan dnschanger on my laptop. I tried using malwarebytes program to remove it several times and then gave up and sent it in to get repaired at a shop in town. They told me there was no infection and sent it back to me. I reran the test and sure enough it was gone. but...

What had originally made me try using malwarebytes to scan ( avg, spybot s&d, and adaware did not find anything) was that my browser was acting strange. When I do a Google search and click on one of the results, it will load a blank page saying 'done' in the bottom corner, then after 5 seconds or so it will then load the page i wanted.

For instance, I click on "hxxp://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank" search result and it puts this:

"hxxp://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&ved=0CAcQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.kioskea.net%2Fforum%2Faffich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank&rct=j&q=browser+loads+blank+page+then+&ei=W6JzS6q_G8PgnAec2vmyCQ&usg=AFQjCNHiczGbtPYRraVBQ_7hGcgLE2f6LQ&as_acct=9dm612l7ldg&cr=s6ar6l7"

into the top bar and sits on the blank,'done' page for 5 or 10 secs then goes to the "hxxp://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank" page after.

It is driving me crazy. This is doing it in firefox 3.5.7 and also in ie 8.0.7600.16385 - (i rarely use ie)

Hello everyone.
I am currently experiencing an error everytime I use my Microsoft Edge. Whenever I try to go to a site, I always end up with this error. The weird thing is, this issue only happens on certain websites (such as Facebook and Yahoo currently) and sometimes with Google. It likes to disconnect me often and I really don't want to have to deal with this issue anymore.

My internet works fine as my laptop (which I'm currently on) and phone can connect to it without issue. I don't know why it doesn't work on my desktop especially since its internet is Ethernet.

I tested this on other browsers to see if it was only on Edge but it turns out that chrome and firefox experience the same issue with different sites as well. For all three, I haven't been able to go on Facebook and Yahoo, and sometimes Google.

I know the problem is from my end because clearly, the sites are up. Is there any way to solve this or has anyone else found a solution to this?

I'm running Windows 10.

I've tried the following:
- ipconfig / flush
- ipconfig / reset
- ipconfig / release
- ipconfig / renew
- clearing caches and browsing history
- a full scan for malware using malwarebytes and windows defender, already removed/quarantined all threats, did this multiple times to ensure there were none left
- reinstallation of chrome and firefox and a reset of edge
- ipv4 - changing preferred and alternate dns address to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4 respectively
- checked to see if a proxy was ... Read more

A:"we can't reach this page" error

Hi. Welcome to TSF.

You mentioned threats were found by Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. Were they actually malware or just PUPs? A broken Internet connection is one of the common after-effects of a malware infection, and post-infection repairs need to be done, assuming all of the infections have been cleared. I advice seeking a clean bill of health from the virus removal section, and after they declare your system free from infections, come back here and we will advice further if the problem isn't cured.

I have thoroughly cleansed my computer with ESET, MalwareBytes, too many to list. I have scoured the logs on HiJack this, downloaded all Win 7 HP updates, reset IE 11 back to 10, back to 11, Chrome and Firefox to defaults. Checked my speeds at speedtest.net but STILL when I click on links such as www.intheswim.com the page usually cannot be displayed, while lower ranking returns will show from a Bing or Google search. Any ideas? please? I even removed all signs of AOL.

Hi!

Have a Windows desktop XP SP2 that until today had no problems connecting to the net, now no matter what browser I use I get the dreaded 'page cannot be displayed' messsage. What makes this weird is I also have another desktop XP plugged into my Bell Canada modem and its connecting just fine, so that tells me its not the modem, plus the problem computer also says in the taskbar that the internet is connected. So I call Bell Canada and spend an hour talking to a tech, and after him trying some things he says it must be my computer, although I could swear I had this issue in the past and they fixed it.So any suggestions? I have had computers die, and modem issues a few times before, but never where a tech says it must be a computer problem, when EVERYTHING else on the computer is working just fine. What kind of problem would keep any web pages from displaying? ANY help with this would be great, my wife is going up the wall not being able to use her computer, which will drive me to the breaking point as well...(lol)

So far I have tried every step found here- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956196

Also when I go to update any program, like Malawarebytes, nothing will update! And I am SURE that I am connected to the net, can anyone help me?

Thank you!

A:'Page cannot be displayed' on all browsers

Helllo .

What makes this weird is I also have another desktop XP plugged into my Bell Canada modem and its connecting just fine, so that tells me its not the modem, plus the problem computer also says in the taskbar that the internet is connected.

That corresponds with the assertion that it must be a system problem.

Try uninstalling the network drivers...then reinstalling same, the ones installed in your system could be damaged.

And...verify that the other system actually connects to varying websites, rather than just using webpages already cached. I recently had an issue where on multiple systems one appeared to be connecting while another was getting error messages...upon further checking, neither was actually connecting and the issue was one with the network signal from my ISP (checked the modem light which indicated that the signal was amber/not working for the link/connection (althoughworking for all else).

If you cannot connect successfully...I would expect to be unable to update via the Internet.

Louis

to illustrate i have taken screen grabs of pages that are not displaying correctly regardless of how much you refresh them. i have reinstalled my browsers many times, i have also re installed my windows and i have also tried this on many net connections and it is still there:

I guess these instances have occurred when I was entered to crack founder website. I have avg antivirus, for Searching and killing unable process I used "HijackThis" software. Unfortunately I found more unable process. After fixing these problems and restarting my system, I seen it once again! Is there any software for fixing and repairing registry key and value automatically? Or other decides.

I am looking for something like a browser plugin that would allow me to go to various pages and see how long it takes to load a page with a slow connection (mine is a fast broadband). imageready and fireworks can give me a number/seconds as to how long to load a page, but id like to see it. Any thoughts on this? Anyone?

Hi everyone,
I did a search for this term in the Bleepingcomputer forum "imptestrm.com" and nothing came up so am creating a new post.
When I try load a webpage hosted on hostgator I keep getting a "search and advertising page" that is created from imptestrm.com. When I look at the html source it has imptestrm.com and rmgserving.com in it.

If I go to the same URL using my mobile and not through my ISP or modem/router then it loads the correct web page. Somehow it's being redirected to this imptestrm.com advertising page and I can't find where or how.
Please help me if you can.
Thanks!

Hello, I have had this problem going on for a few weeks now...when i clean out files with CCleaner and try to browse the interet (Firefox, IE7 or Netscape) the page will show up blank....upon further investigation it's not caused by cleaning out the temporary internet files or cache in firefox....i'v narrowed the problem to the System Section in CCleaner. I have avoided using this section after that but now i did a disk defrag with auslogics and im having the same problem..Blank Browser- http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa142/R_bho/blank.jpg I also have the auslogics reportThanks

I have so many small issues and no idea why they happen. This one is interesting. Paint Shop Photo album creates a photo album somewhat automaticlly and I have posted it to my site http://home.comcast.net/~bgjmg/pa/April_7th_2005/index.htm. With my desktop, running xp pro, sp2, norton internet security, wall the propper updates and what not I can't view the thumbnails on the left in that page. No matter what I try. Now on my laptop, xp home, sp2, no norton security (the only big difference) I can view the iamges. Strange. This applies to all my browsers, IE, Maxthon, and Firefox. Any ideas?

I would love to get rid of Norton but you are all saing that it isn't that easy. Small glitches like this get me so frustrated.

One last question, what is the best way to lock my computer's settings so nothing will ever change it, from start up to log off. ( I know that is a little vague but what locks your settigns? )

hi i have had this problem for some time now and i think it is related to windows 8 because i never had this problem in windows 7

while surfing the internet, after gathering a bit of cache my browsers stop displaying pages correctly, refreshing doesnt help, although chrome refreshes and starts working firefox never does, i have to clear the cache to make the stupid thing work, it is very irritating.

to illustrate i have taken screen grabs of pages that are not displaying correctly regardless of how much you refresh them. i have reinstalled my browsers many times, i have also re installed my windows and i have also tried this on many net connections and it is still there:

I hope this is the correct forum in which to post my problem. If not, I apologize.

I just finished this: http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...ger-rtk-3.html
and I was following the directions at the end. I uninstalled combofix, I already was up to date on Windows Updates, and I already had SpywareBlaster installed. I downloaded SpywareGuard, and installed it. As it ran, I got a number of Spybot TeaTimer notices - some I allowed, some I denied.

I had to stop there, and when I came back and started Firefox (2.0.0.11), it won't startup with my homepage. It opens two tabs, one with http://www.weblog.com/Mozilla, and the other with http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.exe. Neither one resolves to anything.

When I check my Options, it says that my homepage is still what it was, and Firefox is set to start with that. But it doesn't. I also opened IE6 and instead of my homepage (which Internet Options shows hasn't changed) it tries to open with http://files/Internet%20Explorer/IEXPLORE.EXE.
When I open Opera, it opens two tabs, one with the correct homepage, and one with http://www.weblog.com/Opera/Opera.exe. In FF and IE, if I click on the "home" icon, I am taken to the correct home page (IE detours to a "cannot find that page" screen, then when home is pressed again, it goes home).

I have deleted all cookies and temp files, and tried to uninstall SpywareGuard (it uninstalled except for two files), and I even tried a System Restore... Read more

Hi,

I'm on a PC running Win 7 x64
I think since installing Game booster 3.2, all my browsers start pages have been changed to
http://www.v9.com/iob/iob_1327016108_280565
I'm not 100% sure that's the reason though.

I already looked at each browser's start page options and they have not been changed, so it is happening elsewhere.
I uninstalled Game booster with Revo uninstaller.
I ran CCleaner, Malwarebytes anti-malware, and superantispyware and cleaned everything.
I don't know what else I can do.

I also check to see if any extensions were added , but I couldn't see any suspect addons.

here's a screenshot of my google chrome options:

any help appreciated, in the meantime I'm going to restart the computer.

Hello,

Since Sunday, my PC has been acting weird:
- Google Chrome does not load any page, it just tells me that the page is not responding and asks to either wait or kill the page. Choosing "kill" does not do anything and the page does not load however long I wait.
- Firefox stops responding invariably when going to a new page. This lasts for maybe 3-5 minutes. The same for IE.
- I cannot download any .exe file. Something about my settings not allowing me, other files like doc works fine though.
- Some plugins can no longer load_flash, shockwave.

I have tried several software_tdsskiller and dr. web cure-it. I also have Comodo but none of these have found anything. I have tried malwarebyte's anti-malware and it did pick up something, PUP.StartUpManager. Removing it has not changed anything.

Then after removing all the virus`s. I can no longer access it in Firefox or IE. I am running out of ideas . Please help asap. been trying to help for the last 3 hours

She`s tried winsock fix. Which did not do anything apparently. Do you think reinstalling it would do anything? i really doubt it.

Thanks in advance

A:Internet on. Browsers cannot display page

Log on as an administrator, go Start > Run and type: "cmd". In the window that appears type: "netsh winsock reset". When the program is finished, you will receive the message: "Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog. You must restart the machine in order to complete the reset." Close the command box and reboot your computer.Go Start > Run > type: "cmd" In the window that appears type: "ipconfig /flushdns". Close the command box.Go Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. Right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and and choose Properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item. Select the radio button that says "Obtain DNS servers automatically". Reboot.Warning: Some Internet Service Providers need specific DNS settings. You need to make sure that you know if such DNS settings are required before you make this change.

Hello,

I am having trouble accessing the internet and think I may have a Trojan, please help !

I can get connected to the internet but whichever site I try to connect to I get the same web page -
"Great Success! Apache is working on your cPanel and WHM server"
Followed by a page of information.

I contacted Apache and they think I may be infected, I am not a customer of theirs.

I use Norton Internet security and contacted them but they cannot help me as I am unable to access their help page which would allow them to help me remotely, I cannot access any other web page, even in safe mode with networking.
Their only solution was to take the laptop to a "Level 2 technician"

Would like to solve the problem without taking into town, which is an hour away.

Any ideas please ?

Thank you

Hello everyone. Hope you can help me.

I am having a problem on my lap top computer. It is running Vista. It was running fine this morning. I was on a website I had been on for quite a while and the Firefox browser closed. Never had this happen before.

Now, whether I am on IE or Firefox and I try to go to any other web site after my home page loads, it gives the following error:

Quote:

Firefox has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I have run scans with Malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware, and McAfee. It doesn't show any problem.

I am able to get e-mails so I know the internet is working.

Thanks

Hello,

I need help trying to figure out why all three of my web browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Fire Fox, and Internet Explorer) will not load certain content on the same website.

Here's the thing, I home school my daughter and there's a particular website that I have to log into to view the curriculum. Well yesterday I went to log in and I was not able to access any of the course information on my personal laptop. I called tech support through the school but they are not able to help me but to liability issues because it is my personal computer. My daughter has a laptop that the school provided and she is not having the same issue. That's how I know it is my pc. I asked tech support can they give me an idea what it may be and he said since I am having the same problem on all my web browser that most likely it is an issus with java. I updated my java to see if that will work and it didn't. I tried to access the information on the webpage again today and still the same problem.

I can't remember doing anything new to my computer so I am not sure where to pinpoint the problem. When I log into the school web page the content that won't load just gives an error message saying "error loading content."

My operating system is windows xp and I am not sure what other information you may need. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Try completely uninstalling Java through add or remove programs. Then re-install and reboot, see if this fixes your problem. I've no idea if it will work, but it's definitely worth a shot. Also, try downloading Ccleaner. (Google is your friend). Run it, and try to view the webpage again.

I have had a problem with one particular website that I go to frequently not displaying properly. Text overlaps, pictures don't display, everything looks scrambled. I also notice the problem with my Yahoo home page. It's not as bad as the other website, but doesn't look quite right. This just started a few days ago. The main browser that I use is IE9 and this is the one that I started noticing the problem on, but I have since tried Chrome, Opera, and Firefox with the same results. I have deleted temporary internet files and cookies on IE. I reinstalled Java, and Flash but it hasn't made a difference. I have Windows Vista. Is there something else that I could try? Any help would be appreciated.

Both Firefox and Chrome are either redirecting or hanging with a blank page. I assume it would be a waste of time to try IE.

When I try to play a video on Vimeo I always get a hanging blank page. When I go to The Area at Autodesk.com I always get a blank page. However, I can play videos on YouTube. Various other pages without embedded video are also causing a hanging blank page.

Clicking links on a web page frequent results in a redirect. This includes links from a Google search.

Iv gotten a pesky worm or some spam program and than had it removed with another program that searched it and got rid of it nicely. I tried both Explorer and FireFox.

A:Browsers wont load page but everything else connects

No difference.
I did not have System Restore On during infection and removal. Plus during removal it was suggested to keep i toff, so System Restore wouldn't play much of a part here since I dought itl have a previous good time to restore to.

The removal program I used was Smitfraudfix.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic58415.html
The infection was "SpyGuard" that was installed through ActiveX maybe or Explorer at least from some website.
So Im not sure if its Port 80 or what thats blocked...
Just browsing wont load pages, cuz its waiting for a reply...
Other connections seem fine.
I un-installed MCAfee's SecurityCentre Firewall and no help.

So I've had my PC up at my parents house all week while I was staying with them on vacation, the Thing worked great the whole time. Then I come home, hook it up, and about 2 hours into my being home with the PC running and online. Firefox (Latest Update) started taking me back to google. Continually, also It was taking me back to one of my bookmarked forum sites. I've noticed though, that if I'm typing something, it usually waits untill I stop typing, and between the time I stop typing and am looking to click somewhere or press enter, the page just reloads. I am using Windows XP, with the latest updates installed. and I've tried uninstalling firefox and re-installing it. I've changed the homepage. and it just goes to whatever I set as the homepage. and when I have my ethernet cable not hooked up it doesn't seem to happen as much. but it has opened on its own 2 times while I was Offline. I've tried scanning with AVAST, and it found nothing, I'm about 3/4 through my spybot scan, and so far its found nothing.

anyone have any idea how I can fix this? if I use IE it does the same thing, just reloads my home page. But IE has never opened on its own. I looked through my Processes in my task manager, and theres nothing I dont usually see in there either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. right now I'm stuck using this old school IBM thinkpad thats extremely slow.

Hi,

I've been having trouble loading Web pages on my netbook the last week or so. When I type in an address, the page will start to load. But then it crawls along for 10-15 sec until the tabs show the page is ready. Navigating within a site the load time won't be quite as slow, but if I click an external link the sluggish load returns. The problem happens on both wired and wireless connections. My connection is100Mbps through ATT Uverse. Other computers don't have trouble with speed though. So there must be an issue in my system.

At first, I wondered if it might be a virus; so, I checked it out at Malwarebytes. The only things they found was a possible Trojan host file, which we deleted. I uninstalled AVG Antivirus and Spybot S&D and replaced them with MS Security Essentials to save on program memory. Then I updated the LAN and wireless network drivers. I tried updating the graphics driver too. However, none of it made any difference

I'm at the end of my rope in solving out the problem. I looked at some other posts and tried the suggestions. They didn't help much though .

If someone could please help me figure out a solution, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hello.as the title says when using a browser other than the one i am currently on(using comodo dragon) most webpages other than youtube will not load unless i reload the page like 30 times or so.really getting frustrating and annoying and was thinking it was virus or malware related.I read somewhere it's possible to get a DNS infection of some sort and i think that may be it.It has to be something router related as it affects every computer in the house and even affects my ipod touch as well.Is there anyway you can help me figure this out and fix it please? *Edit*Put it here in case it requires a log of some sort.Move the post if needed

Hi. A few days ago I noticed pages were taking longer to load than normal. Have checked download speed and it seems to be close (13Mbps) to connection speed (15Mbps). I run CCleaner regularly and have removed everything that Malwarebytes, Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware picked up, but still got the slow page load times.

Any help with identifying the problem would be very much appreciated. Logs attached as per instructions.

I am posting this for my wife who has a brand new computer. I am not sure what she has installed as far as spyware- and antivirus goes, but it has gotten to the point that it doesn't matter what browsers she uses; sooner or later, regardless of what she is doing, the page will refresh and send her back to the start page. Another tidbit of information is that even when she is not at the computer, her start page (www.google.com) will pop up in a new window. Also, my wife is running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit. She's been behind on her Windows-updates. It's weird because last night I was trying to log in to this forum on her computer and her browsers, both IE and Firefox, would send me back to the start page. When I tried to click the back-button, it took me back to the start page again.

We have run Spybot, Ad-Aware and several antivirus runs with Avira and it has not remedied a thing. We did, however, change the start page to a non-search engine and this seems to have cleared the issue up. However, I want to be absolutely sure that we're home free.

Everytime I try to load a page it fails to connect until I hit refresh and then it's ok. What I know:
Not the browser, tried Chrome, Firefox, Torch (And IE just for shits and giggles) but no dice with any one of them.
Not the modem, other systems on this network work fine.
Not the hardware. Prior to a format on this PC everything was O.K. and then it wasn't, I ain't an onion in terms of computer hardware and I'm quite positive nothing went wrong there.
It could be the OS, hopefully not, but this issue cropped up ever since I formatted in the hopes of cleaning up the system a bit from crap. I moved to Windows 8.1 now.
It could be the driver. I tried downloading new ones for my mobo - Asus Sabertooth x58 but they don't seem to work, I did use a generic one however so maybe that's the issue.
It could be the settings somehow - Trying ipconfig /flushdns - works, but ipconfig /renew doesn't.

CMD Error on ipconfig /renew: The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation.

Ethernet adapter Ethernet should be the connection I'm using. I have set this connection as manual in the hopes of eliminated the DHCP but no luck solving it.

I have no clue what Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface is about, I'm assuming it's something new to Win8.1 Pro or w/e

My wifes laptop has degraded in performance drastically. Browsers lock up and crash constantly (used most for online activities and storage for her embroidery designs/machine). We run malwarebytes constantly and it comes up clean every time. We reboot, and it is pretty much the same. We lose wireless connection constantly. I've went through the help guide on here about a slow PC is not necessarily malware. Followed all the steps and it remains the same. Searching on the RKill logs, I see many referrences to ZEROACCESS, so I was directed to post logs here. I hope these help:

Hi All.
I hope somebody has a cheap solution for me. I have a Canon Pixma MP530 printer - excellent machine. But it has no network support or slot for a card. Now it has to move 10meters away from the PC, so the USB connection is beyond limits.
Is there a way I can get around this without spending a lot of money?
Any suggestions much appreciated.
Cheers.

I'm having trouble very similar to the guy who started this thread:

http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?t=220791

I would just follow the advice given in that one, except I saw that some of the advice was based upon the specifics of his problem. So I think maybe I should post some of the same info he did and see what everyone has to say. In the next couple of posts I will put the information he was asked to post.

In addition to not being able to connect to symantec.com, I'm having some other problems as well. I have gone for quite some time without updating my virus definitions, because it just wouldn't work. Recently I found a way to get new virus definitions (in Norton AV) via a server at my college. Once I did and ran an scan, Norton found 1133 instances of viruses on my machine. As soon as I saw some of the names that came up, I headed for Symantec.com to download any fixes they might have had. That's when I noticed the connection problem. Additionally, if I leave my computer sitting for a while (30 minutes or so) when I come back nothing works. I have what appears to be a normal desktop sitting there, but when I click the start menu I discover it's [empty]. None of my quicklaunch buttons work either. I suspect this might be the effects of a different virus than the one that's blocking me from connecting to symantec.com. So the gist is: I'm going to need help in the process of cleaning all these buggers of my computer, so this thr... Read more

As of last week I can't access a site anymore. The site in question is www.sythe.org. I'm in frequent contact with the admin and I'm assured that I'm on no firewall list or anything of the likes. I'm using wireless on my laptop. My desktop computer which is upstairs uses the same internet but it's connected to the modem, it can load the site as usual, yet I get this error when I try to load it from this laptop: Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT). When I ping the website I get 100% loss from the packets sent along with "general failure". I've tried different browsers, checked my firewall, turned off antivirus etc but still can't go on to the site like I used to. I called a friend up who has the same ISP as me and he can load it just fine too. I can still view the website using proxies but I could face problems if I log onto my moderator account using it. I really need some help please.

For the last 4 or 5 days I've not been able to connect to several sites including: Microsoft.com, windows update (and several other MS related sites,) iwon.com and connections to a number of sites have slowed to a crawl.

This is occurring on two computers
1. XP Pro SP2
2. 2k Pro SP4

I have a third computer running 2000 Server with no problems connecting to any site.

The XP SP2 upgrade was over a month ago and I've had no problems related to that other than my computer slowing down a bit.

What really throws me is this occurring on two different computers using different O/S's. I've checked the IE security settings tab and the advanced tab on all three machines (they are all set to default)

Note: I've been running MS Antispyware on these two machines for several weeks with no problems. I also run Spybot on the 2k machine.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Howdy! For quite awhile now, I haven't been able to reach any sourceforge pages - and there are many. There doesn't appear to be a problem at their site, at least nothing shows up through a search - Googling only turns up user problems with settings etc.. My WinME, while hateful and all the rest, has never shown a problem accessing a website - just any sourceforge product page. It's the same story with our other WinXP PC as well. What a mystery! Firefox is my browser, I modified settings to "Autodetect proxy settings" after a forum recommendation, but no joy. If this is a firewall issue, it's odd that this is the only group of sites that I can't reach. Any suggestions for browser settings or info about sourceforge?

Hello. Recently, my Windows 8 has been working fine, but when I woke up this morning, I was not able to access the Internet. It has been int he same spot for the last few days and Internet was perfect, but this morning, it would not connect to any. Basically, it won't even list any. I know I'm not too far away and I'm sure it's still working because:

1) My father and sister are using it.

2) I've gone to two different houses with different internet, nothing changed.
I've been trying to fix it since 7 this morning and I feel like I'm going to just burst into tears of frustration. My audio is also not working, but I care more of getting the Internet working. And my computer will not allow me to turn on Windows Security Center.
I hope someone can fix this, and if they do, I will be seriously grateful. Thanks much, sincerely, Heather.

I can't reach the website: http://www.allaboutjazz.com

My browsers just time out ( IE8 & Firefox 3.6.8 ). The only way I have found to fix this problem is to use custom network settings with Selective Ack disabled. I recently did a clean install of Win XP and left the default network settings, which I thought would remedy the problem. There is no blocking in place that I'm aware of (browser, firewall, etc.) Tracert is successful. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have:
Win XP SP3
Comodo 4.1.15
Avast 5.0.594
Linksys WCG200-CC gateway provided by Comcast

I made LAN of my PC and laptop using 1 additional Network adapter in my PC and connecting them both with CAT5 Cross-over cable. I manually stated IP's in Network TCP/IP connection configuration, respectively 192.168.0.1 for my PC and 192.168.0.2 for my laptop.
Problem begins here - i can ping from PC to laptop and receive response, connect to it and see shared folders/printers. But when i try to ping from laptop to PC, all i get is - Request timed out. Any other connections is impossible from laptop to PC impossible also. Although in Connection Status window, i can see how my PC receive pinging's packets. Both computers firewalls are off.

P.S. - cant explain this but - when i change ends of cable between computers, my laptops "ping -t" for PC, gets responded 4 times and continues getting timing out after.

I applaud your trouble shooting. Most people never think of switching the cable like that.

The result makes the cable a top suspect.

For some reason, I am unable to reach Ann Coulter - Official Home Page on my computer. It's been several weeks since I was last able to visit the site. The problem happens in every browser I have, including recent or current versions of Firefox, IE, Opera and Chrome. I can reach any other website I try to get to just fine. I never used to have any trouble reaching that website until about a month ago. No one else uses this computer and I live alone.

It appears that I've blocked that one site but I'm darned if I can figure out how.

Here's what I've tried so far:
1. Run Avast Free Antivirus with the latest version of the program and definitions. Results: no threats found with either the quick scan or the full scan.
2 Run Malware Bytes with the latest definitions. Results: Results: two threats found and removed but I still can't reach the Coulter website.
3. Checked my Hosts file. Results: nothing there is blocking any website.
4. Checked my router settings. Can't see any blocks there.
5. Had other people try to access the site; they were successful.
6. Googled and found one other forum where someone was having the same problem with respect to the Coulter website. But his problem apparently went away two weeks ago. He didn't indicate if he had done anything to make it go away.
7. Checked the Windows Event logs but can't see anything there reflecting my problem.

Can anyone suggest anything else I can check?

Hi folks, I was a dumbass and got "Internet Antivirus Pro" . I folowed your guide and on a friends pc I got a remover for "Secure Antivirus Pro" It seemed to do the trick and I got rid of the malware but now I can get to any site except this one. I was on internet explorer and firefox. I finally just downloaded google chrome and I was able to use bleepingcomp.
Have I still got some bug in there somewhere? After I used the virus remove tool I bought AVG 8.5 Internet Security Pack and loaded it up. Anyone got any ideas

Let's see if there are any remnants left over messing with your HOSTS file or other settings. Some types of malware will disable MBAM and other security tools. If MBAM will not install, try renaming it.Before saving any of your security programs, rename them first. For example, before you save Malwarebytes', rename it to something like MBblah.exe and then click on Save and save it to your desktop. Same thing after you install it. Before running it, rename the main executable file first

Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file and change the .exe extension to .bat, .com, .pif, or .scr and then double-click on it to run.

If after installation, MBAM will not run, open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in Program Files, right-click on mbam.exe and change the .exe as noted above. Then double-click on it to run..Another work around is by not using the mouse to install it, Just use the arrow keys, tab, and enter keys. ~ Courtesy of boopmePlease download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. Since yesterday, I have been unable to reach IMDb using either Firefox 2.0.0.14 or IE 7. I am also unable to reach Bleeping Computer. I am able to reach IMDb via their numeric IP address and am also able to go to the site using its DNS on my cell phone's browser. Bleeping Computer cannot be reached from either the computer or phone.

I checked my Hosts file and neither site is listed there.

My ISP is XO/Concentric dialup.

Thank you.

I have a Compaq iPaq wireless router. My desktop computer is connected to port 1 and my laptop uses a wireless nic. The router is connected to a cable modem connecting to the Optimum Online service. Until a few days ago everything worked well. Now, neither box can reach the Internet. I have rebooted all devices, refreshed all IP addresses, all to no avail. The desktop machine can connect to the 'Net directly through the cable modem and the laptop can connect through my office wireless network. The only conclusion I can reach is that the wireless router has problems. The LED for WAN is lit as well as the Internet LED and port 1 LED.

Hello guys.

I've recently ordered the Zalman FS-C77 Fatal1ty CPU Cooler for my motherboard (check specs, I do not remember the name ). It's supported with the 1156, I have the i5 2400k, I've heard CPU Coolers with the 1156 support, also fits in the 1155. In the box, follows a little extra box for the Clip Supporter for socket 1156/775. It showed how I could install the Clip for my type of socket. No problems there.
It did only show how I install the clip, not how I install the "rest", as in the CPU Cooler. So I just thought, as this little extra tutorial would work for 1156/755, I'd just continue on the actual manual where it explains how to install for 775. Why? Because the extra tutorial show for 1156 (mine), and for 775 (is also on the main manual). Can you follow?
So I continued on the main manual, and it said I should put the S-grips on the Cooler. Cool, no problem. I should also put "bolts", which are screws, down in the grips. So we're having two grips, and two screws in the grip holes - on the cooler. I said I should screw the screws (bolts) in the Clip Support, as I installed earlier.

The problem is that the Bolts could not reach the Clip Support. I attached some pictures of the manuals.

Update: It seems like it's on purpose that it has to be hard, lol.

SPCR • View topic - Zalman CNPS7000-alcu - How to get short screws to connect?
EDIT: I FIXED IT! It seems like I was forced to pull the screws down really hard. It obviously wants close contact with the CPU. Only a little drama happened.

I have registered a domain name from company x like 2 years ago and have bought hosting from ipage yesterday. I have requested a transfer of registrar from x to ipage too. I am in Turkey by the way. The problem is, people in ipage customer support, a friend in Egypt can access my website, while nobody in Turkey can access it, with different ISPs

When I use openDns or google dns, I can open ipage without problem but when I use my ISP's dns, I can not open ipage too. My guess is, ipage is in my ISP's blacklist but that can be bypassed by DNS change.

What is it that causes ipage to be opened by DNS change but my own website only through a proxy ?
In what way an ISP or government block a domain other than DNS ?

The domain in question is : www.breezeofanatolia.com

I recently got a new job and therefor my ISP changed from Cybercity to Fullrate (this is in Denmark).

With cybercity i just took my LAN cable from the non-wireless router, also known as ZyXEL Prestige 2602R-61 that the ISP provided and everything worked.

Now I have fullrate - it is exactly the same router (ZyXEL Prestige 2602R-61) - but when i plug in the WRT54GC i cannot acces the internet.

i researched a little and found a guide on their forum saying that:
"If you wish to connect your own wireless router together with the ZyXEL standard router, then there are multiple ways to do this.
The easiest way to do this is to configure your wireless router as an "access point"

1.
Connect a cable from your computer to your wireless router.

2.
Log into your wireless router (see the manual for your model for more information on this), and set its LAN IP-address to 192.168.1.2."
this i did and now i can no longer reach the wrt54gc ... not on 192.168.1.2 or the good old 192.168.1.1

i tried resetting, but it seem like it died or something ... i need to reach it somehow ... what do i do?

EDIT: Still dont understand what happened, but all of a sudden - after 2 and a half hour ... it chose to show itself again ...

A:Linksys WRT54GC out of reach

If all you did was change the LAN address of the secondary router you have two Dhcp servers running on your network and you will have, at best, random problems. Here's the full nine yards.

JohnWill's procedure for configuring a secondary router as a switch and, optionally, wireless access point follows.

Connecting two SOHO broadband routers together.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. Leave the WAN port unconnected!

Im having trouble connecting to the internet. My modem is working fine, my computer says it has full connectivity to the internet and I can see my ip address, but when i try to open internet explorer at the bottom it says "finding site: so and so" and after a while it says its cannot reach server. I called charter to see if they could help me out and they had me do all this things and they checked my modem connection and everything and said everything was fine. When i tried to ping myself it came back with no reply. When i try to renew my ip address it tells me it cannot be completed. The charter people mentioned it might be my network card that is unable to connect to my modem, but i just dont know anymore. I use a windows xp.

Please help. any would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, yes. Laptops are frequently 62 to 69 degrees. See them every day in our shops. Some do run a degree or three higher with linux for some reason.

Hi all, I got weird problem. One day both of my browser (IE7 and Firefox 2.011) can't reach internet. I am using winXP. Other computer connected to the same router works just fine.

I can't even go to my router login page with that computer (IE said address not valid while firefox displays some error that I don't understand). I can ping the router, I can ping other computer in network, I can share files to/from other computer, my network can see this computer and this computer can see other network just fine. I even can ping www[dot]yahoo[dot]com (sorry I am not allowed to post links yet, my first post) which proves nothing is really wrong and that it should see internet just fine. Try to change port in the router but same thing happen. Internet just crawl and sometime does not work at all.

I have run anti spyware and anti rootkit both say negative. I also run antivirus and it seems OK. Antivirus update seems run just fine. It just weird that it happen to both browser at the same time.

Any idea? Thanks in advance!

Solved, sorry all, I tried HideIP platinum and when I uninstalled, it leave proxy address on both firefox and IE.

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to setup a Print Server remotely - and the challenge that I am facing is that the Print Server is on a different sub-net (by default) than the main network.

The main network consists of the I.P. addresses: 192.168.174.0 to 192.168.174.254

The Print Server has a default I.P. address of: 192.168.0.10

Fortunately the remote location is using a Netgear SRXN3205 which supports Lan Multi-Homing.

I have added the address 192.168.0.1 to the router (as shown below) -

I have remote access to a Windows 7 computer, and I have tried adding a Static Route to it in order to reach the Print Server -

I have tried both of the following -

route add 192.168.0.10 mask 255.255.255.255 192.168.0.1

(above uses the Routers LAN Multi-Homing feature)

route add 192.168.0.10 mask 255.255.255.255 192.168.174.254

(above uses the Routers standard I.P. address)

** Can't reach the print server either through ping or a web browser with either of the above commands ***

If anybody has any suggestions on how I can reach the config page of the Print Server (TP-Link TL-PS110U) they will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Davo

My Disk Usage and CPU columns of the task manager randomly jump up to 99% or even sometimes 100% which is unresponsive. This seems to happen more often when I run programs such as a malware scanner or League of Legends. My FPS in League stays around 1 when I do try to play and I'm assuming this is a related issue. I'm currently reading through other threads with similar issues but I thought I'd post my own for better results. Would it help if I included a screen shot of the task manager window?

PC1 can see PC2, and copy files from it, but cannot reach the internet.

I have already tried ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, ipconfig /flushdns, netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt, netsh winsock reset catalog, disable+enable adapter, set IP addresses manually, set IP addresses automatically, MSFixit 50199, winsockfix, and dropping firewalls. Hey guys, I have a bad case of the Blue screen of death. At first I was only receiving the registry error(0x00000051) when I attempted to boot safe mode. I eventually fixed that using a program called safekeyrepair or something like that. But now I get the bsod when trying to enter safe mode or normal windows.

So I decided screw it I'll try to use the directory recovery mode and just repair or reinstall. But that mode produces the same bsod. So then I tried using my windows xp cd from another computer and when that loads it says it can't find a hard drive, which is bs because I've run a hdd diagnostics program and it spent an hour scanning a hard drive I'm sure of it. The error I received from the diagnostics scan was Error code 0000: Read verification failed.

That's about all I can think of, can anyone help?! Thanks for looking!

Hi,

I've got two machines on the network here that can't reach eachother.
One is an XP Pro machine, and the other is our W2K Exchange server, and they can't even ping eachother!
Both machines can ping everybody else, and everybody else can ping both machines. Everything is working fine on both machines except for going between the two.
I took the XP Pro and gave it a different, static ip address, but no luck.
Rebooting and doing the same did nothing also.
I moved the XP Pro onto a completely different switch, but no luck.
The names for eachother are resolving beautifully on both machins, but still nothing's happening between them.
Even machines from a different subnet can reach them with no problem.
Has anybody come across this before? Any ideas of what might be causing this?
I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling TCP/IP on the XP machine, but I don't have high hopes for it.

Any thoughts period would be welcome.

Thank ye's...
