HP Envy x360 15t Touchscreen 2-in-1 laptop

Q: HP Envy x360 15t Touchscreen 2-in-1 laptop

I have three questions regarding my HP Envy which I recieved in September, 2016. 1) how do I find the serial number? 2) how do I correct this system error? AccelerometerStexe - System Error. MFC120U.dll is missing. 3) I have an Espon Perfection V300 Photo Scanner, it works perfectly with Windows 7 on my work laptop. I cannot get the scanner with Windows 10 to work. I am connecting the scanner via a USB. The laptop recognizes the scanner and adds it as a device. However, it does not install any drivers to make the connetion between the scanner and the laptop. I have tried multiple times to download the drivers from Epson.com and still does not work. The system is totally up to date and I know the USB works. This is driving me crazy as I need this scanner to work with this laptop.

My Laptop was working fine. It was plugged in as to charge the battery. I went to bed, got up the next day to use my laptop. I pushed the power button and nothing happens. I made sure the battery was seated correctly and also the plug into the laptop and wall. I also tryed diffrent outlets in my home and nothing.

The only thing I ca tell you is that when I press the power button the light next to the power input blinks (3) times and then stops. Nothing more happens. That is all the information I can provide.

So can you please help me find a solution? My warranty has since expired.

Visruth,       I went and looked in the end of the power connector where it connects into the computer, and found the center pin on the power adapter was bent to oneside and this prevented it from seating correctly within the laptop.     I used a flat screw driver from an Eye Glass repair kit and bent it back to the middle.   Vala!     Everything is working fine, computer turned on and battery is charging.     I want to thank you for research and suggestions into my search for answers.    V/R    Scott

I'm just wondering why my new Envy x360 is still in "Processing" after 5 days? When I know it doesn't take that long to test. I also know that by 4:00PM EST it is 4:00-5:00AM the next day in most of China. The only change to the standard build is the UHD display. Since the display is the only real possible change to the standard config then there should be some already built like that. I recently had to take apart my laptop to look to see if the battery was part of a recall.  This was a very difficult process and not one that I was comfortable with, but I wasn't going to pay HP to look at my battery.  Before this, my battery was completely dead so I had to purchase a new battery for $120.   While I had it open, I replaced the battery.  I tried to get everything back together the way it was before I took it apart, but there are about 4 "ribbons" that connect the back of the keyboard to the bottom inside part of the laptop.  Anyway, now my mouse pad or track pad (whatever you call it) on the laptop is not working.  And the lights on the keyboard are not working.  I cannot find a good picture of the inside of the laptop to compare how mine is put together with the proper way.   Had I known I would have to take apart the laptop to replace the battery, I never would have purchased this laptop.  For some reason, the battery died completely less than two years after purchase.  Not happy with the laptop, but can anyone help me????

A graphics driver update installation was prompted today, which I accepted.  Upon completion of the download, my laptop went blank.  It now appears to be a brick. So, how do I get this fixed?  I can't reboot the laptop.  It has power to it, the circular "cursor" that would indicate some kind of installation was taking place, sat there forever, stopped and is now at a blank screen.  I get no further options to do anything else. I don't have a restore disk as there is no optical drive in this laptop.  How do I get my laptop functional again without a screen and operating system with which I can work?  There is no safe mode - there is NO "mode" at all. I wish I could provide more details, but I cannot get device specific information as the laptop is a brick as I said previously. I have information with this new laptop that says I can call HP within the first 90 days for free assistance.  When I do that, it tells me to go online.  Fortunately, the laptop is not my only pc (I am on a desktop pc now for clafication) or I wouldn't be able to do that.  I've tried a few links on the support page which tell me they are not functioning(?). How am I supposed to fix this laptop without tech support that was promised by HP within the first 90 days? Help please.  Thank you.

But when it was shipped I found out that screen rotation mode is not working. I tried to upgrade the drivers but I could not encounter a solid solution. Please advise to me on behalf of this issue. RegardsAhmet

Hello.  I just bought an HP Envy x360 TouchSmart laptop/tablet.  Several times per day, the laptop loses connection with my Wi-Fi router (Netgear WNR2000v3).  Nothing I can do (using Windows troubleshooter, resetting wi-fi adapter) fixes it, with the exception of rebooting the router.  Why I think it's a problem with the HP laptop is because when it loses it's connection to the router, all of the other devices remain connected (phone, other laptop, tv, etc.) I have made sure to update the driver for the wi-fi adapter.  I've rolled it back to rule out that the new driver may be the problem.  Both drivers experience the problem. I've changed my router settings to stay on specific channels instead of using the 'automatic' mode, where it scans for the best channel. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the laptop having a dual-band wi-fi adapter, but am not sure.  I need an answer soon, because if it keeps happening, I'm still within my window of returning the laptop for a refund. By the way, my laptop is running Windows 8.1. Please advise.

What's the difference between the HP Spectre x360 and the HP Envy x360? They both look the same. The only noticeable difference is that HP Spectre x360 has a Radiance Infinity display, while HP Envy x360 has an IPS display. Having the same specs, except for the display, why is the Spectre x360 more expensive than the Envy x360 ? Moreover, I thought that IPS is better than TN, which is my guess that is the technology used for the Radiance Infinity.

A:HP Spectre x360 vs HP Envy x360

Hi, You've got few questions about those products. Well, come to a store and yoy can see the differences. Better still, you can buty 2 machines and compare.  For build quality, the HP Spectre x360 is much better than the Envy x360 you can also find Pavilion x360 - we are talking about SPECS and BUILD here about plastics and metals about wood and gold. Regards.

The I2C HID Driver has an exclamation point by it, but when i try to fix the driver uninstall or disable it still does not fix the problem. I went through the troubleshooting guide and nothing works. I've also tried through HP Support and still nothing. Very disappointing to have this convertible laptop and not be able to use the main feature o purchased it for because of a technical issue. Please HELP!!!!! Also says there is not pen input for this device which has to be wrong because it is touchscreen capable.

Hi, Received my laptop just over a week ago. love it. Its the i7 with 512gb and 8gb ram. Very quick and no real issues with it. One worrying issue is random however. The bottom inch of the touchscreen randomly stops working. Only way to fix it is to restart the pc. It has no response at all and does nothing. nothing seems to trigger it and it can happen at any point, but it is very frequent. The only other issue i have is with IE on the 200 dpi it seems to want to zoom in all the time on the touch mode. When i put it down to 175% or something it doesnt have this random twitchy zoom all the time. any ideas? Touchscreen needs sorting asap and i have done win updates and hp updates. My worry is i get married this week and going to florida so unable to return laptop as this is coming with me for work.

A:SPECTRE X360 TOUCHSCREEN PROBLEMS

it has started doing it litterally every few minutes now, where as before it was once every so ofter. im not sure if it has always been like this, but it seems i can click the windows key and the bottom inch starts responding again. not ideal at all, but at least it comes back on. Still hugely frustrating !! i need it resolving??

Hello, I just bought a Targus stylus (http://targus.com/us/stylus-for-tablets-and-smartphones-black-amm01tbus) to use with my HP Spectre x360. Unfortunately it doesn't work very well with the touchscreen; I have to press it so hard that the screen wobbles back and forth. I find this strange because it is very sensitive when I use my finger; a light touch is enough. Is there a setting where I can remedy this? I tried Calibrate, but it seemed to only calibrate for location, not sensitivity. Or, would anyone recommend a specific stylus other than the HP Active Stylus? I just want a simple, non-battery-operated stylus to use to draw and take notes without smudging my screen with fingerprints. Thank you,Chuck

Hi, I recenlty purchased a HP Spectre x360 13-4100nn and after two days the touchscreen stopped functioning.I already tryied all the recommended fixes:- drivers, BIOS, OS updates- System recovery + factory reset (http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02638587)- BIOS restore (http://support.hp.com/ee-en/document/c02693833)No effect ! Moreover, the touchscreen doesn't work in BIOS, it doesn't show up in Windows Device Manager, and the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) doesn't detect any "touchscreen" to diagnose, then it is unrelated to the OS.So I suppose it's an "early failure". I also mention that during the drivers update (with HP Assistant) at a certain point a black (text mode) window appeared and tried to update some firmware. It gave a series of errors (something like "step 1... error, step 2... error, step 3 ... error...") at the end the text became all red and "update FAILED ... press ENTER". Unfortunatelly this happened very quick, in a few seconds, and I didn't have time to learn what component/driver had tried to update. I suppose that it tried to update the display with a wrong firmware (?!?). This failed update happened some time before I detected that the touchscreen is not working, that's why I THINK they might be related. What can I do ? Is it possible to restore the initial firmware of the display ? Or it is case of real hardware failure ? I hope a support technician will contact... Read more

Bought this computer at the first week of August.  Set it up and used it for 3 weeks.  Enjoyed the flexibility of the convertible funtion and regularly used the touch and active stylus features.   Then the touch screen and stylus functions stopped working. After multiple attempts to reactivate the features (i.e., restart, new pen battery, software updates) I contacted HP support.  My assumption was that the hardware was bad, the screen had failed in some way, because the software didn't even recongize the touch ability any more.  HP support ran me through the standard solutions, so again restart, etc.  Then they wanted to reset Windows, revert back to the shipped version of the software, erasing all my files, apps, and software that I had migrated from my old computer.  That computer had been recycled at this point.  So I would be left to start over.  My feel was that it was a hardware issue, so why go through the pain of having to reset up the machine.  After some coaxing by the rep, I relented and reset windows.  No help.  The software still could not recognize touch or pen functionality.  Next step was to send the machine in for repair.  They told me it would take 14 days.  That seemed like a long time to go without a computer.  I asked for a replacement machine.  The computer was only 3 weeks old.  They refused.  And no compensation was offered for my lost time. N... Hey guys, please help. I'm sort of panicking. The touchscreen and pen worked perfect after initial setup. However, I was experiencing pen pressure problems and decided to download a different driver from here:http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Spectre-13-x360-Convertible-PC-Series/7527520/mod...The driver I downloaded was the HP Active Pen Control Software 0.0.0.11 Rev.A, which I failed to notice hasn't been updated since Dec 19, 2015. Upon installing and restarting, my touch screen and pen input no longer work at all.I am pretty sure this is not a hardware issue seeing as the hardware worked perfect until I installed this. I tried loading a restore point and then factory resetting, which was probably the worst thing I could do. Before I did the factory reset, the Pen and Touch devices were hidden, but listed in the Device Manager under HID (human interface devices). Now, they are not there even if I show hidden devices.Instead, there is only an Unknown Device listed under Other Devices. When I view its properties, it says"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."ACPI\VEN_HPQ&DEV_6007 is the Hardware ID, which I believe to be the touch screen since it wasnt there until I factory reset. I tried the component test and there was no "touch screen test" option,There are also no more pen/touch options listed in the Contro... By this i mean there is an invisible line about 1.5 inches from the left margin of the screen on which suddenly a lot of touch marks appear and the screen starts taking these bizarre inputs. Then so many things open on the screen interrupting my work. I even tried to turn off and then on the touchscreen. But this problem has persisted. WHat could be the possible cause for this? is the screen defective? What should I do? Should i send back the laptop or is there any driver etc whose installation might help me in troubleshooting this issue. Thank you in advance.Foxstar

So I paid to have a diagnostic done to find that my system board was bad. I want to send back to HP to have repaired or to get an estimate bug can't ever get support. When I do get someone in support they seem to think that if I pay $69 they can fix over the phone? I love this computer an it kills me to see it sit. I bought a second HP Envy in July 2016, online from Best Buy.  It was intended as a backup for the first one that got repaired.  I'm a DJ so I need to make sure I have a backup  if the first one fails.  I loaded it with the music and lyrics pretty much right after it arrived, and put it away.  Just this past week I purchased the Microsoft Office 365 Suite, and so I went to put it on to this laptop.  That's when I discovered that there are a number of significant problems with it:

It won't even play the music files (?)
It runs VERY slowly - booting up, navigating the internet, anything you do takes a long time
I tried putting Microsoft Office 365 on it (purchased the suite at Best Buy) and it won't allow me to complete the final step
On one of the re-boots I tried, suddenly the entire desktop changed, and a new wallpaper appeared with the 'ASUS' logo in the bottom right.  As soon as I saw that, I knew something was seriously wrong - there is no way that should happen!
The last reboot I tried, I couldn't even connect to the internet.

I would like to have this laptop replaced with a new one - preferably the same kind, an HP ... Read more

@Avious_Avi, Thanks for posting. Personally, since you mentioned the touchscreen worked before Windows 8.1, I would do a Windows refresh: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03538721 You can also try updating the drivers of the product to try and get that functionality back.

Well the service from HP just gets worse. Not only did they not repair my touchscreen the first time it failed, they have made me wait a week for an uplift of the computer so that it can go for a second attempt to repair it and having waited a week for this uplift, taken a precious day's holiday and sat in all day waiting for them to come for it they have not turn up to collect it. They did not have the decency to let me know they were not actually coming.  When I phoned to find out what was going on they said they would have to arrange for the courier to come back but he did not come in the first place. So now I have to wait even longer for  the repairand take a second day's holiday to be here.  I have been patient, gave them one chance already to have it repaired. Agreed to a second repair which HP are clearly not taking seriously and are wasting my precious time.  This is an appauling service. I think it is time to escalate a complaint and get a refund.

Hello,I'm having some trouble with my Envy x360 (m6-w103dx). I like it a lot so far and decided it needed a boost, so I took a Crucial BX100 250GB SSD I had and cloned the HDD that came with the laptop to the SSD. Immediately on boot the laptop says the drive's smart status has an issue/failing (which doesn't seem right, the other PC's I've been trying the SSD on aren't showing the same things, and just this morning the SSD was functioning perfectly fine as the boot drive of an older PC)After that the laptop would say "Boot device not found, Please install an operating system on your hard disk" (3F0).So I figured okay, maybe I botched cloning the HDD. I plugged the SSD back into my desktop and wiped it clean, and prepared a Windows 10 USB installer. While I was doing this, I also put the original HDD back in the laptop to make sure it was still functioning properly and the laptop booted up fine just like it used to.I put the wiped/cleaned SSD back into the laptop. I'm still getting the message about the drive's smart status on boot, and "Boot device not found, Please install an operating system on your hard disk" (3F0). So sounds like I just need to install windows...plugged in the Win 10 USB drive, and set bios to boot USB first. After that Windows 10 installer came up just like it normally does but there were no drives detected. I'm pretty stuck at this point. I've tried cloning, wiping the drive and initializing it as MBR, and again wiping it and trying... Read more

Hi ambowditch.  so, your notebook having issue with no display & caps lock is blink. caps lock blink is actually was an error which is notebook motherboard was try to tell to user.what u need to do is, try to count how many time caps lock is blink.  try do following troubleshooting first before u count the caps lock blink. 1. perform power cycle. remove battery & power adapter. then press & hold power button for 30 sec. then plug in power adapter only and power on the unit. make sure battery is not installed. if you lucky, may be the notebook will start with HP Logo and windows will load as usual. but if not, try to count how many time caps lock is blink. thanks. ghost. Please mark my post as SOLVED if it has resolved your problem. I have a brand new Envy x360 that I've had about a week. The power will turn on but there is no display, no HDD activity and lights on the cap locks and mute will not turn on. I've tried a hard reboot, held the power button down for up to 30 seconds to shut it off. I've connected it to an external monitor via the hdmi port, and i've disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes, connected AC power. Still not display, no bios post and no HDD activity light. At this point I'm guessing the motherboard failed. Are there any other troubleshooting suggestions or should I return it to the store I got it at (Costco) for a replacement?

Laptop will randomly feeze to the point it becomes completely unresponsive and requires a hard reset.  This has happened consistently since I've had the laptop. In the last couple month the frequency has rapidly increased.  I have contacted HP Support numerous times and continue to get different answers and the run around each time. - All Windows and BIOS updates are ran- I did a clean reinstall of Windows based on recommendation from the chat session. Then I had one agent tell me it was probably malware and needed to send me a recovery disk, then the next person said it was a bad Microsoft update.  I've done everything asked and I still have a laptop that is constantly freezing, and this is becoming increasingly frustrating. I've noticed this seems to be a common issue with my model of laptop, and wondering if there is a fix for it. Please someone help me out here.

Morning all, Long time reader, first time poster. I have an HP ENVY Touchsmart 15-j004sa (Windows 8) which won't boot following the most recent BIOS update.  The laptop will power up, but the screen remains black.  The power light remains on, but the screen, CAPS LOCK and WIFI buttons remains unresponsive and don't seem to flash an eroor code.  The sound of the HDD can be heard on boot up, as can the fans. I have attempted a  BIOS recovery using WIndows+B on turning on using a straight copy of the previous BIOS and a full recovery image, as well as all steps contained in this article.  In every instance the screen remains black and there seems to be no progressing from this point. I'm at a bit of a loss where to go from here, but I'm not quite ready to surrender.  I can see a few people have had similar problems with other models, but none so far with this one. If anyone has any suggestions or guidance I'd be extremely grateful. Chalky

So I've been researching for a few months now but have still to no avail found a viable solution/answer anywhere I looked. I have been looking for a stylus to use with my laptop which is a 2-in-1 so I figured it should be able to use one. But if possibly I would really love it to be pressure sensistive so I can draw in Photoshop with ease. It doesn't seem that any pen has been actually tested on this device though: all the Wacom ones haven't been tested, some say the HP Active Stylus may work but everyone commenting have the Hp Spectre so I would like to have a definitive answer if someone wouldn't mind helping.
