Hi,  The auto rotation setting stopped working some time ago and I'm having troubles trying to restore it.Also the keyboard and mouse pad are not automatically locking when the laptop is in tablet mode.  The auto-rotate mode in "Screen resolution" is on.  This message appears when I open the settings bar on the right side of the screen:   Any idea how to change it? The laptop has been fully updated and restarted.  I've already tried all the suggestions from the previous topics.  Any other possible solution? Thank you!

I have read through numerous posts and questions regarding this issue with no found solution. My computer is relatively brand new and yet I cannot get it allow the screen to rotate. Not only does it not recognize when i fold my computer over but even when I manually go to press tablet mode i cannot press screen rotation. The screen rotation button in the action center is greyed out so I cannot press it at all. I have tried:Going through the control panel and selecting "Allow the screen to auto-rotate"It automatically unselects it after a while and still won't rotate for the short time that it shows it is allowing it. (yes I hit Apply and OK) Going through System Settings: The "Lock rotation of this display" is set to "on" and will not allow me to change it. Going through regedit and setting the screen rotation to "1" Updating and restarting the laptop. Including manually going through HP's website to update Intel's Virtual Button Driver and Graphics Driver. Please help me find a proper solution, I have had an HP before but this laptop is completely ruining my experience with them.

Hi, I bought this laptop a week ago from Amazon. I bought it because it was said that on tablet mode I could use the screen rotation and have it use as a tablet as well. But when it was shipped I found out that screen rotation mode is not working. I tried to upgrade the drivers but I could not encounter a solid solution. Please advise to me on behalf of this issue. RegardsAhmet

Hi @SwaggerPony, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums!  I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion x360 Convertible  and the auto rotate not working correctly. I would make sure all updates have been done on the Notebook first. Restart the Notebook. Here is a link to show you how to configure and disable the screen rotation feature.  In the Device Manager, click the arrow next to Display Adapters. Right-click on Graphics and select Uninstall Driver Software if more than 1 Graphics adapter do 1 at a time. Then restart the Notebook. The Notebook should find and automatically install the updated driver. Please get back to me how this goes. Please click the Thumbs up below to thank me for my efforts!  Thanks

Many attempts to reinstall software and driver with no results. Hot key function will rotate screen, but shaking or flipping device will not.

Hi, I'm having trouble with Windows Hello. When I first purchased my notebook, Windows Hello was working fine, I had set it up correctly and had been using it successfully for a couple of weeks. Now, it's suddenly not working, and when I try to configure it in settings, there's an error that it cannot find the camera. I've been through the support blogs/forums and tried everything I could find, i.e. updating the software drivers, updating bios, restarting, etc. I have no idea how to get it working again. I can still unlock with my pin/password but it's just inconvenient when it was so quick to use Windows Hello before.  If anyone can help that would be fab!  Cheers

I just received my HP ENVY X360 (T5K88AV). I ordered it with the HP Truevision IR HD camera, which according to the HP website, supports Windows Hello. However, I see no option under Settings > Accounts > Sign-In for it. I spent an hour with HP Support Chat and let him remote in to take a look. He said it looked like no IR camera was installed. We tried installing the driver for it with no success. Is there something I am missing? Is the HP IR camera known to work with Hello? Or is there something wrong with my hardware or drivers?

Hello all.
I got an Acer Extensa 5220 laptop with Windows 7 RC and integrated graphic card of Intel. The properties of this graphics don't have the screen rotation option and neither does Windows in the Screen Resolution menu.
I tried to reinstall the system (to RC again and to RTM), downloaded programs such as EEErotate, iRotate, PivotPro; used the Ctrl+Alt+(arrows) combination, upgraded the graphic card to the latest drivers and none of these options worked.
I was wondering if this could be enabled through the Windows Registry Editor.
Could you help me please? I'm open for suggestions.

Hello, Klintonix and welcome to the SevenForums.

Background rotation is not found in Screen Resolution, you have to go to Personalization > Desktop Background. Choose images you want to use and set rotation interval.

Hi, I recently purchased an HP Envy X360 laptop for Work. The laptop came with Windows 10 Preinstalled. I am trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 and during the install I get a error saying that "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a drive floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note. If the Windows installation media is inthe Cd/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step"  I am trying to do the install via a USB drive. The laptop has 3 USB ports and i believe all of them are 3.0 Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:Unable to do a clean install of Windows 7 on a HP Envy x360 ...

Sadly, you CANNOT install Windows 7 via USB if all you have is USB 3 ports.  Windows 7 does not support USB 3 out of the box.  The way around this is to use DISM to add the USB 3 drivers (most of the time it's Intels drivers).  I actually just did this to downgrade my 15t-ae000 from Windows 10 to Windows 7.  I will be posting a new thread about the couple of driver issues left for that machine next. If you want the steps to make an install that will work with USB3 let me know and I will post the steps (it requires you to make a Windows 7 install image - not too hard). Bryan

What's the difference between the HP Spectre x360 and the HP Envy x360? They both look the same. The only noticeable difference is that HP Spectre x360 has a Radiance Infinity display, while HP Envy x360 has an IPS display. Having the same specs, except for the display, why is the Spectre x360 more expensive than the Envy x360 ? Moreover, I thought that IPS is better than TN, which is my guess that is the technology used for the Radiance Infinity.

A:HP Spectre x360 vs HP Envy x360

Hi, You've got few questions about those products. Well, come to a store and yoy can see the differences. Better still, you can buty 2 machines and compare.  For build quality, the HP Spectre x360 is much better than the Envy x360 you can also find Pavilion x360 - we are talking about SPECS and BUILD here about plastics and metals about wood and gold. Regards.

Hey guys, I'm having trouble with my screen rotation. To start with there was no rotation, no button in the notifications area, and no option in display settings. After reading a few similar threads, I updated my BIOS, and checked my drivers. 3 Human interface drivers weren't functioning, so I uninstalled them and checked for changes and they reinstalled apparently correctly. Now I have the rotate icon (and auto rotate option in display settings), however they are both locked, with no option to unlock them. The screen will rotate manually with ctrl+Alt+ arrow keys, but the auto rotate won't work. I suspect it has something to do with a sensor driver, but as I can't find a sensor driver in Device manager I'm not sure.I hope this makes sense, and I hope yu can help, thx

After one week with my new Lenovo Yoga 3 14 my keyboard stopped working. Sometimes, if i press a button hard enough or if I hold the laptop in a certain position, the keyboard works for a second. What's more, it seems like the device doesn't recognize the mode it is in anymore. Touchscreen always works. Things I have tried so far without any success: Upgrade to Windows 10stopping the ymc serviceBIOS update bacn95ww.exeReinstalling Lenovo Transition softwareRight now I am updating Lenovo Companion but that is the last thing that came to my mind that I can do. Any ideas?

Greetings,Kindly try the following steps :To turn on, or turn off screen rotation, swipe in from the right, select PC Settings and look for the Screen icon. Tap the Screen icon and you will see a vertical slide control for brightness. At the top of the brightness control you will see a rectangle, representing a screen, with a curved arrow at the lower right corner. Tap the rectangle once to lock the screen rotation in the current position, portrait or landscape. The curved arrow will change to a lock. To unlock screen rotation, follow the same procedure, tap the rectangle with the lock and it will change back to the curved arrow. Please update drivers and check if issue persists. If the button has disappeared and issue is not resolved after updating driver, reset the operating system after backing up data. Confirm if this helps.

After Windows 10 upgrade, my laptop appears to be running flawlessly except one major annoyance: the screen no longer auto-rotates when in tablet mode.  This is a convertible PC, so this basically renders tablet mode useless.
Details:
Fully updated system prior to installation of Win10
After upgrade, I updated all of dell's applications, drivers (one exception, see below)*, and bios.
Display settings - "Lock Position" is turned on permanently (greyed out, cannot adjust)
*When I try to upgrade the video driver, it fails because the recommended driver update for my system (July 23rd, 2015) says its older than the current version.
I suspect this is a driver issue.  Should I go ahead and install the older driver?  I know Win10 just rolled out so I expected a few hiccups but I was surprised to find very little info about this issue as of yet.  I use my laptop as a tablet quite frequently, so I would like to find a solution to this problem quickly. Thank you all for your help!

So, I've had my Inspiron 13 for about a year or so. I've had no real major issues or complaints, including upgrading to Windows 10 and those that I did have were solved with a simple search. After having my laptop for a year, its storage eventually filled up. I used a program called CCleaner to delete any junk files on my system, doing my best to make sure the program didn't delete any files that I needed, or that were necessary to the system. However, my best wasn't good enough as my system lost its functionality to automatically rotate depending on what orientation the system is in (Auto-Rotate). I went to the support page for my model, ran the system diagnostic more times than I can remember, as well as doing a full system scan twice, but all the tests showed that my system had no errors and was up to date. I reinstalled all the drivers on the support page, and uninstalled and reinstalled QuickSet64 and the ST Microelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver, as this thread had suggested the problem may lie there. I also downloaded the Dell "Intel Chipset Driver" as this thread had suggested, verified that QuickSet64 was starting up with my system as this thread had recommended, and disabled the sensor in Device Manager and re-enabled as this thread writer had done, along with updating as many items in Device Manager as I could. I did however notice that I only had one sensor whereas others have seen two, and the numerous t... Read more

My laptop won't automatically rotate when I rotate it. The rotation lock button in the action centre is greyed out so I cannot select it. This is the same in the display settings, I am unable to unlock the rotation lock. I have searched for answers on this and people have advised to select the 'allow auto-rotation' however I cannot find this setting in my control panel. Switching to tablet mode does nothing either. The laptop also does not sense the screen has been rotated around and so the keyboard/mousepad are still active even when the laptop has been moved to a tablet. I am within warranty so will just replace laptop if I can, but want a quick solution for now!

Since the latest Anniversary Update from Microsoft the display on my Spectre x2 tablet no longer auto-rotates when I rotate my tablet. In settings->system->display there is no longer a checkbox for autorotation. Nothing shows up at all. I called customer support and they had me go through the registry to ensure the Autorotate option was enabled: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation The technician from HP customer support tried to find a solution using remote desktop but after about 30 minutes told me there was no solution, that I was the first customer to have this issue since the update, and HP will get back to me once they have resolved the problem. Is anyone else having an issue with auto-rotation since the Windows 10 Anniversary Update?

A:Dell Inspiron 7348 2-in-1 Auto Rotation Stopped Working

Hi danielius16,I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check for issue resolution.
Ensure that the auto-rotate box is checked. Refer to these steps:1. Right click or press and hold on an empty area on your desktop, click/tap on Screen resolution.2. Check the Allow the screen to auto-rotate box, and click/tap on OK
Unlock Screen Auto-Rotation in Charm Settings. Refer to these step:
1. Open the Charms bar, and click/tap on Settings.2. Click/tap on the Screen button.3. Click/tap on the screen icon above the brightness slider to toggle to unlock autorotation.
(A lock symbol appears next to the screen icon when autorotation is locked. The screen will not rotate when you change the orientation of the tablet.  If there’s no lock symbol next to the screen icon, the screen will auto-rotate as you turn the tablet).
You can also check by installing available Windows updates including Optional updates.
Hope this helps you.

Hello,I'm having some trouble with my Envy x360 (m6-w103dx). I like it a lot so far and decided it needed a boost, so I took a Crucial BX100 250GB SSD I had and cloned the HDD that came with the laptop to the SSD. Immediately on boot the laptop says the drive's smart status has an issue/failing (which doesn't seem right, the other PC's I've been trying the SSD on aren't showing the same things, and just this morning the SSD was functioning perfectly fine as the boot drive of an older PC)After that the laptop would say "Boot device not found, Please install an operating system on your hard disk" (3F0).So I figured okay, maybe I botched cloning the HDD. I plugged the SSD back into my desktop and wiped it clean, and prepared a Windows 10 USB installer. While I was doing this, I also put the original HDD back in the laptop to make sure it was still functioning properly and the laptop booted up fine just like it used to.I put the wiped/cleaned SSD back into the laptop. I'm still getting the message about the drive's smart status on boot, and "Boot device not found, Please install an operating system on your hard disk" (3F0). So sounds like I just need to install windows...plugged in the Win 10 USB drive, and set bios to boot USB first. Laptop will randomly feeze to the point it becomes completely unresponsive and requires a hard reset.  This has happened consistently since I've had the laptop. In the last couple month the frequency has rapidly increased.  I have contacted HP Support numerous times and continue to get different answers and the run around each time. - All Windows and BIOS updates are ran- I did a clean reinstall of Windows based on recommendation from the chat session. Then I had one agent tell me it was probably malware and needed to send me a recovery disk, then the next person said it was a bad Microsoft update.  I've done everything asked and I still have a laptop that is constantly freezing, and this is becoming increasingly frustrating. I've noticed this seems to be a common issue with my model of laptop, and wondering if there is a fix for it. Please someone help me out here.

I have not dropped it, spilled anything on it, had it in heat or anything. I need this to be fix asap!

Hi ambowditch.  so, your notebook having issue with no display & caps lock is blink. caps lock blink is actually was an error which is notebook motherboard was try to tell to user.what u need to do is, try to count how many time caps lock is blink.  try do following troubleshooting first before u count the caps lock blink. 1. perform power cycle. remove battery & power adapter. then press & hold power button for 30 sec. then plug in power adapter only and power on the unit. make sure battery is not installed. if you lucky, may be the notebook will start with HP Logo and windows will load as usual. but if not, try to count how many time caps lock is blink. thanks. ghost. Please mark my post as SOLVED if it has resolved your problem. hi, I bought a HP Envy x360 laptop (m6-w103dx) in the US a couple of months ago and today it has just shut down (died) on me and I cannot boot it up. Power cable light is on, so has power, but nothing's happening.I plug in the charger and the orange light turns on and then when I click the power button it blinks white one time then it turns off right away.Any help would be appreciated... Thanks...

A:NEW HP Envy x360 Won't Turn On

If you leave the power adapter plugged in dose the led stay amber? That means it is charging. Your troubleshooting describes a notebook with too low of a battery charge to boot into Windows. Let it charge for an hour or so before trying to power it on.

Hi Michael ,
thanks for the post , Yes you are right it effects other functionality as well , I had seen some other posts/threads also and they reported it as bug in windows and is not resolved yet.
Anyhow thanks for the post i had changed the screen/Form design as we are the manufacturer of the  software but there must be an option to stop this auto maximize option which wont effect other functionality.

Thanks.

I have this HP ENVY x360 - 15-u111dx and I would like to add a SSD to this laptop for the OS to reside on.   According to the HP Support Assistant, it is a product number J9H90UA#ABA.HP Support page for this laptop provides me a link to this maintenance and service guide, http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04513489.  It seems to indicate that it does have the ability to take an SSD in the form factor of "M.2 2280-S3-B-M"  And in the product description, it says in the Internal Expansion section that it has this, "One 2280 M.2 daughter board - optional support for SSD"Used space on the C: drive is 90GB.  The D: (recovery) uses about 30GB.This leaves me with a few questions.1.  Can a SSD be added while keeping the factory 1TB drive installed?2.  Can I migrate the OS (and recovery partition) to that SSD, boot to that SSD, all the while not messing the up the ability to do a system restore/recovery of the OEM Windows 8.1 software provided by HP?I think step 2 will be the trickiest.  If someone knows of a free product to do this, I would welcome that recommendation.  I'll also take recommendations for paid software if no free exists.  Thanks. Edit:  Sorry, I also have a video problem, and must have had that on my mind when I sellected where to post this.  Could a mod move this to the correct forum please?

Hello to everybody. This is my first post in this forum since I've always found an answer to my problems but not this time, so sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section.Yesterday my laptop died and I don't know what happened. I was working as usual, and after lunch, I closed the laptop and took a nap. When I woke up I opened the laptop, pressed the "on" button and it didn't start.I continued to do so. Never started. When I press it three lights turn on: the "on" button itself; the caps lock (white light); and the light with discs (hdd?) which is orange. Those three lights turn on when I push the on button, and all of them beeps once.I searched this forums and everybody suggested hard reset. I can't do a hard reset on this one, the tutorials didnt work.I also called HP Support but they couldnt assist me because my warranty expired 5 days ago (so convenient)I didnt hit the computer or nothing. I live alone so during nap time nothing happenned.Any help? Thanks in advance!!

Hello! I have a fairly new Envy x360 that came with Windows 10 preinstalled.  I do not like Win10, and have learned that many of my programs won't run on Win10.  I want to go back to Win 7 pro, but am not sure the hardware will work with an older OS.  Any recommendations on how to do this (get rid of Win10 and install Win 7)? Thanks in advance for your help!

A:install win7 on envy x360?

Antarcticgecko Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! With notebooks, the primary problem with trying to run a different OS than the one preinstalled is the need for the specialized HP drivers for the specialized hardware that comes in the laptop.  Desktops don't present such difficulties because they tend to use more generic hardware and you can often swap out a piece of hardware if you need to.  Laptops don't provide that flexibility. If you will provide the detailed product number of your laptop, I can check to see if HP provides Win7 drivers for it:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

I am connecting the scanner via a USB. The laptop recognizes the scanner and adds it as a device. However, it does not install any drivers to make the connetion between the scanner and the laptop.  I have tried multiple times to download the drivers from Epson.com and still does not work. The system is totally up to date and I know the USB works.  This is driving me crazy as I need this scanner to work with this laptop.

So the power button on my HP detached from the laptop. Long story short, I was boarding back home and hit a rock and fell forward therefore breaking the corner of the power button and shatter the touchscreen. I was still workin fine, except the fact that the screen was shattered and the power chip was dangling out of the laptop. It survived a few weeks before the power chip fell out. I couldnt find the time to go to a store to see what they could do. the only thing keeping it alive was the charging power but I fell asleep with the laptop on. Lucky me. The laptop was working perfectly. I've had it for some time right now. I have ALOT of important files and documents. I was wondering if there was a short-cut or a way I can get my Laptop on without using the power button. I just want to back-up everything i have in the laptop and make a desicion of getting a new one or fixing this one.

The problems started ever since a regular windows update and bios update through HP Support Assistant went through.  Following those updates, my laptop now stutters and lags every 5-10 seconds whenever I play a game WHILE CHARGING. This was not a problem before the updates. Attempting to solve the problem, I reset my laptop a couple times and started from scratch. I made sure battery settings were at max or balanced.  Those haven't worked. The thing is, I can play League Of Legends and other games on high quality on only the battery. Only when it's charging does it begin to stutter and lag. It's been a couple months since this problem came and I have yet to figure out a solution.  I am dying at the fact that a 700$+ laptop is making gaming ineffective in comparison to my 6 year laptop.

Whenever I use my laptop in my home, pages take an extremely long time to load and sometimes do not connect until 10-25 minutes later.  Videos also work slow.  My brother has a laptop that is an older HP model connected to the same internet connection source and it works considerably faster than mine does.  My laptop functions well on other internet connection sources like at school or in other people's home.   Please help and thank you

I'm interested in the Sony Vaio Flip 15A with i7 Core and Nvidia GeForce 735M. But I also like the HP Envy x360 with Intel HD graphics but no graphics card. I got a few questions...

1) Which one would you buy in general?

2) Which would you buy if you were a casual gamer?

3) Sony stopped making this Vaio 15A. Which laptop is best for availability of parts if you needed to replace parts in the future?

A:Which to Buy? Sony Vaio Flip or HP Envy x360?

Honestly these are stupidly expensive. I would just get a desktop. I know you want a laptop but for gaming, desktop rigs can be less expensive and easier to modify in the future.

If you were to go with one of those I'd choose the HP because of the Graphics card, the better processor, and a ssd. Although the other one is hybrid at 1TB and 16GB flash with 16 GB DDR3 1600 I would rather have the better graphics and processor if I were going to spend a stupid amount of money. I'm not saying you are stupid btw lol. You can always get more RAM, but it is not always easy or even possible to switch out the graphics card or processor. Even though switching out the processor IS possible, if you are not familiar with hardware I would NEVER recommend that.

But yeah if I had to choose it would be the HP
