The problems started ever since a regular windows update and bios update through HP Support Assistant went through. Following those updates, my laptop now stutters and lags every 5-10 seconds whenever I play a game WHILE CHARGING. This was not a problem before the updates. Attempting to solve the problem, I reset my laptop a couple times and started from scratch. I made sure battery settings were at max or balanced. Those haven't worked. The thing is, I can play League Of Legends and other games on high quality on only the battery. Only when it's charging does it begin to stutter and lag. It's been a couple months since this problem came and I have yet to figure out a solution. I am dying at the fact that a 700$+ laptop is making gaming ineffective in comparison to my 6 year laptop.More replies
Hello, My HP Envy x360 15t convertible notebook is displaying an error on the battery icon. It says "12% available (plugged in, not charging)". The battery will charge to 100% if turned off, but will not when in use. I have searched and see many posts with a similar problem, but none of the solutions offered have worked. Here are the fixes I have tried: Uninstall Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and re-startPerformed hard re-set for notebooks with a factory sealed batteryAllowed battery to completely drain, and then re-charge to 100%Within HP Support Assistant:Battery Check - Primary Battery: OKChecked for updates, and installed all Any additional ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Hi @Pink70? ,Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY x360 Convertible PC and issues with the battery charging while plugged in and on. I have checked into this and it would see that is is a power loss issue. Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue. If that does not solve this, please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/Case number and phone number appear. They will be happy to assist you immediately. I need help trying to find a stylus that would work for the HP ENVY x360 m6 Convertible. This was a recent purchase and I chose the 2 in 1 laptop for the versatility to use it as a teaching tool (writing notes in one note). Any suggestions would be appreciated. I do not want the option of a rubber tip generic stylus but would prefer something that has more sensitivity and pressure as I also have a surface pro at school (the envy is my home computer). So, back about a month ago, I purchased an HP Envy x360 from Best Buy. Now I thought the laptop was great and all and it works perfectly fine. However, after moving away to college, I noticed in my dorm that when my room was quiet, I could hear this static/scratching noise coming from the upper right hand corner of my laptop keyboard. Now, at first, I sort of dismissed this and I found this out well past the return policy date for Best Buy. However, this noise eventually started to get really annoying. It constantly disrupts me while I am studying and honestly, for an $800 laptop, I expected something that didn't make a sound like this. Nonetheless, I have tried everything in terms of updating BIOS and drivers and that has lead me to zero success. I am assuming the noise is coming from the hard disk of the laptop although I am not entirely sure. As of right now, I cannot send my laptop in for repair because I need it for school work and having it gone for 7-9 days may be a bit of a problem for me at this time. Is there any alternative ways I could try to solve this issue? And is there any possible explanation as to why my laptop is making this annoying noise? Thank you! My HP ENVY m6-ar000 x360 Convertible PC wireless connection disconnects frequently.
What can I do to resolve this?
Hey Bill, Following our normal wireless troubleshooter is the best way to resolve almost all cases but with this specific model with the AMD processor skipping directly to making sure BIOS is updated to F.06 or newer would be necessary. Hi: It looks like all of the drivers, specs and manuals are missing from the support pages again. This happened earlier in the week too. Hey there, I'm trying to upgrade the memory in my 13-a021nr laptop. I used the crucial memory finder tool, selected my laptop model number, and the results showed a maximum of 16gb, 1866mhz 2x8gb low voltage memory The crucial scanner tool however showed only 1 slot was available, with a maximum capacity of 8gb. CPUZ and Speccy show 2 slots, with mismatched RAM. 1 was the manufacture installed 2gb of PC3L 12800s, the other chip was a 4gb of the same tyepe, from a different manufacturer, with different timings but same frequency. Since the chips were mismatched, the memory was running in single channel mode. So I started thinking, maybe the 2nd chip is soldered to the board.. I figured I would order a 16gb kit, and if there was only 1 slot then so be it. I didn't want to have to open the laptop twice. I heard this APU is severely dependant on having fast memory in order to perform. That's the main reason I decided to do the upgrade since the ram was running at low frequency, loose timings, and single channel, there should be noticeable improvement. I also ordered a 480gb SSD to step things up while I was at it.The SSD installed just fine, the ram however, is giving me issues. It is not running at the 889mhz it is supposed to. Both chips are recognized, the SPID are showing up correctly, but they are running at 665.3 mhz, and still running in single channel mode. I looked into the bios, and saw there were no options ... HP Pavilion x360 m1 Convertible keyboard becomes disabled with screen "flexed" around 360 degrees. A larger monitor is plugged into HDMI port and it works fine. Keyboard works with screen in normal approximately 100 degree postions all the way to flat (180 degrees). But if screen is "flexed" past flat then keyboard becomes disabled. Mouse does work when screen "flexed" or folded. The unit is new with no software additions. The reason for wanting to fold the screen all the way under is that the space available to rest the laptop on is too narrow to accomodate the full size of the unit with the screen folded out to 180 instead of able to be folded underneath the main body/keyboard. How to enable keyboard to work with screen folded all the way around 360 degrees? ThanksMore replies

Hello All, Frustrated new owner of HP Pavilion x360 - convertible here. Bought this computer about 2 weeks ago. Here are the issues I've been having. 1. Computer goes into sleep mode no matter what minutes setting I've set to (both on battery and plugged in)I've even set everything to never; laptop would still go into sleep mode after 3 to 5 minutes of no-use. 2. Spent 2 to 3 hours with HP rep, whom of which remotely accessed my laptop, downloaded a bios update, installed bios update. After the bios update, we tested the problem byleaving computer untouched for about 5 minutes or so; issue seems to be solved. 3. After step 2, HDMI external monitor not sending signal to monitor. My ext. monitor can't detect a signal. (I actually had problems when I first tried to use an external monitor, had to do several restarts and shutdowns to finally have monitor detect and signal from the laptop.) I know it's not the hdmi cable or monitor, as I've tried inter-switching monitors and cables with my amazon fire TV. And all monitors and cables were okay. 4. Nevertheless, after step 3, I fiddled around and restarted and shutdown the laptop some more times, and somehow the monitor finally detected a signal, and screen works again. 5. BUT HERE WE GO AGAIN...... LAPTOP GOES INTO THE DREADFUL SLEEPMODE after 3 to 5 minutes of idling. This is really frustrating when you're working a a... Read moreMore replies

I have a new 15" HP Sepctre x360 convertible model T6T09UA#ABA that seems to be having issues with wireless logitech mice "sticking" Both the scroll wheel and moving the mouse causes a pause, stick, or jump of the curser or screen while web browsing, using applications, or just moving across the desktop. The built in touch pad scrolls and moves everything smoothly and with perfect precision. I've tried three different models of logitech mice that work well on other laptops and all three exhibited the sticking, jumpy, jerky kind of behavior. It's not a surface/sensor issue because I'm testing with other laptops on the same surface. I even bought HP's bluetooth 4000 mouse and that had the same problem as the logitech mice. How do I get mouse movement/screen scrolling to be as smooth and perfect as using the built in track pad? Making adjustments in the mouse control panel in Windows 10 does nothing for this movement/sticking issue. Anyone else experiencing it on this laptop?More replies

What's the difference between the HP Spectre x360 and the HP Envy x360? They both look the same. The only noticeable difference is that HP Spectre x360 has a Radiance Infinity display, while HP Envy x360 has an IPS display. Having the same specs, except for the display, why is the Spectre x360 more expensive than the Envy x360 ? Moreover, I thought that IPS is better than TN, which is my guess that is the technology used for the Radiance Infinity.
Hi, You've got few questions about those products. Well, come to a store and yoy can see the differences. Better still, you can buty 2 machines and compare. For build quality, the HP Spectre x360 is much better than the Envy x360 you can also find Pavilion x360 - we are talking about SPECS and BUILD here about plastics and metals about wood and gold. I've had my HP Envy laptop for about 3 months, and yesterday I noticed that when it was plugged in it wasn't charging (the battery icon says "plugged in, not charging"). I turned it off overnight, plugged in, and this morning the battery was fully charged. It only seems to not charge when it is turned on. I have tried removing the battery, turning on, deleting the ACPI-compliant control method battery, turning off, and turning back on again (as advised in other forum responses), but with no joy. At first I thought it could either be a battery issue, but the fact it fully charged overnight whilst off would lead me to believe it's not, and is probably a software / settings issue. Any ideas please, I've run out of google search ideas!!

Welcome to the Forums.
When the AC adapter is plugged-in, can you try to:
1. Set the power settings to high performance
2. Under the Change Plan Settings, ensure that the PCI Express Link State Power Management is set to Off and Maximum Processor State to 100%.
Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Let me know your findings.
Hi everyone! I recently had trouble with my new laptop. Seemingly after a routine BIOS and Windows update, games I play lag whenever the AC adapter is plugged in. This did not happen immediately after purchase. When I remove the AC adapter, games do not lag. I have checked the power saving setttings, and putting it on max performance on marginally made the lag better. I still see lag spikes every 5-10 seconds. I would appreciate any help from an expert because I've exhausted all my options in months since getting this laptop. Thank you!More replies
My HP Pavilion x360 2 in 1 (brought in February this year) is plugged in but not charging. I can't remove the battery without opening the back panel which I don't want to do. It's plugged directly into the wall socket with the cable provided with the notebook when it was purchased. Please advise on how to fix the problem. Many thanks

The lap top charging led no longer lights up and the battery doesn't charge. About 1 wk after warranty expired (end of APril) i turned one the laptop and used it for a while when a warning poped up indicating low battery and asked to connect to AC. Once plugged in, I noticed that the led light did not come on nor the power icon indicated AC. Searched this forum and found Re: My HP Spectre 360 laptop crashed suddenly and won't charge.Just before the the battery emptied, I managed to complete the suggestion including hard reset and UEFI hardware test. Which passed. Along the way, I noticed NO beeps or power led blinking. Also, used a multimeter to measured the output of the charger when plugged into AC which showed similar measurements as for another HP charger. Unfortunately this charge's plug won't fit the Specter. The laptop is now unusable. Am hoping someone can help me recover this laptop and my investement. Thanks in advance.More replies
I bought this recently. Everything is fine unless the charging issue. I saw many people have this issue, but mine is little different. 1. I can charge, so AC adapter is fine2. sometime (yes, sometimes), AC cannot charging again (for example, when I wake up, sometimes it is out of battery even though I didn't move laptop)3. if I plug out and plug in AC to nb again, then it charges again. It seems it is a hardware issue. Any solutions? Thank youMore replies

I recently purchased my laptop this past April and it has stopped charging. I thought it was the charger since my guinea pig chewed the mickey mouse cable a bit, so I got a replacement in the mail. However, replacing the cable did not solve the issue. The partially chewed cable worked up until the day I installed Windows 10, coincidentally. I'm just wondering if it's possible that installing Windows 10 could have caused some unkown bug to cause my laptop to stop charging. I really don't think it's the charger since it is brand new. Please can anybody help me? Thank you. P.S. The laptop battery is dead so I cannot turn it on to check drivers or bios.
The exact same thing happened to me. I received a new adapter and power cord from HP, as my Spectre is only 5 weeks old. The new power cord and adapter didn't work and now my laptop won't even turn on. I wish I could help, but I have no idea what to do to fix my own laptop since it won't turn on.9 more replies

Hi @threadfin410?, What email are you using (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo...)? And are you accessing it in an Internet browser? Do you access the same email account on any other devices? When the messages are deleted, can you still find them in your Deleted/Trash folder? Any additional info would be helpful.3 more replies
Hello. I have just bought this notebook and I searching on google i noticed it has an internal M.2 port next to the HDD, and in this hp official manual it mentions M.2 SSS support, but not for this specified model. How do i check compatibility ? (mostly with BIOS). It would be awesome if i could add a SSD without loosing the 1TB hdd. Thank you.More replies

Laptop will randomly feeze to the point it becomes completely unresponsive and requires a hard reset. This has happened consistently since I've had the laptop. In the last couple month the frequency has rapidly increased. I have contacted HP Support numerous times and continue to get different answers and the run around each time. - All Windows and BIOS updates are ran- I did a clean reinstall of Windows based on recommendation from the chat session. Then I had one agent tell me it was probably malware and needed to send me a recovery disk, then the next person said it was a bad Microsoft update. I've done everything asked and I still have a laptop that is constantly freezing, and this is becoming increasingly frustrating. I've noticed this seems to be a common issue with my model of laptop, and wondering if there is a fix for it. Please someone help me out here.More replies

hi, I bought a HP Envy x360 laptop (m6-w103dx) in the US a couple of months ago and today it has just shut down (died) on me and I cannot boot it up. If you leave the power adapter plugged in dose the led stay amber? That means it is charging. Your troubleshooting describes a notebook with too low of a battery charge to boot into Windows. Let it charge for an hour or so before trying to power it on.5 more replies
Hello,I'm having some trouble with my Envy x360 (m6-w103dx). I like it a lot so far and decided it needed a boost, so I took a Crucial BX100 250GB SSD I had and cloned the HDD that came with the laptop to the SSD. Immediately on boot the laptop says the drive's smart status has an issue/failing (which doesn't seem right, the other PC's I've been trying the SSD on aren't showing the same things, and just this morning the SSD was functioning perfectly fine as the boot drive of an older PC)After that the laptop would say "Boot device not found, Please install an operating system on your hard disk" (3F0).So I figured okay, maybe I botched cloning the HDD. I plugged the SSD back into my desktop and wiped it clean, and prepared a Windows 10 USB installer. While I was doing this, I also put the original HDD back in the laptop to make sure it was still functioning properly and the laptop booted up fine just like it used to.I put the wiped/cleaned SSD back into the laptop. I'm still getting the message about the drive's smart status on boot, and "Boot device not found, Please install an operating system on your hard disk" (3F0). So sounds like I just need to install windows...plugged in the Win 10 USB drive, and set bios to boot USB first. After that Windows 10 installer came up just like it normally does but there were no drives detected. I'm pretty stuck at this point. I've tried cloning, wiping the drive and initializing it as MBR, and again wiping it and trying... Read moreMore replies
Hello, I have an Envy x360 15t-w000 purchased a little over a year ago. Product number K8Q06AV. I recently cracked my screen and am having trouble locating a digitizer. I do not need an LCD, just the digitizer. Could you possible tell me where I could purchase one? Thank you!
This looks like one or both of these may be the correct part. HP's Manual: Manual provides no part number for the digitizer and glass. I would suggest pulling the screen and disassembling down to the glass and digitizer and compare to the pictures in the auctions: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Envy-x360-15t-15t-w100-Touch-Screen-Glass-with-digitizer-Assembly-15-6-Ne... http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Envy-x360-15t-15t-w000-Touch-Screen-Glass-with-digitizer-Assembly-15-6-Ne... Hi, I'm having trouble with Windows Hello. When I first purchased my notebook, Windows Hello was working fine, I had set it up correctly and had been using it successfully for a couple of weeks. Now, it's suddenly not working, and when I try to configure it in settings, there's an error that it cannot find the camera. I've been through the support blogs/forums and tried everything I could find, i.e. updating the software drivers, updating bios, restarting, etc. I have no idea how to get it working again. I can still unlock with my pin/password but it's just inconvenient when it was so quick to use Windows Hello before. If anyone can help that would be fab! CheersMore replies
I have a brand new Envy x360 that I've had about a week. The power will turn on but there is no display, no HDD activity and lights on the cap locks and mute will not turn on. I've tried a hard reboot, held the power button down for up to 30 seconds to shut it off. I've connected it to an external monitor via the hdmi port, and i've disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes, connected AC power. Still not display, no bios post and no HDD activity light. At this point I'm guessing the motherboard failed. Are there any other troubleshooting suggestions or should I return it to the store I got it at (Costco) for a replacement?More replies

I have not dropped it, spilled anything on it, had it in heat or anything. I need this to be fix asap!
Hi ambowditch. so, your notebook having issue with no display & caps lock is blink. caps lock blink is actually was an error which is notebook motherboard was try to tell to user.what u need to do is, try to count how many time caps lock is blink. try do following troubleshooting first before u count the caps lock blink. 1. perform power cycle. remove battery & power adapter. then press & hold power button for 30 sec. then plug in power adapter only and power on the unit. make sure battery is not installed. if you lucky, may be the notebook will start with HP Logo and windows will load as usual. but if not, try to count how many time caps lock is blink. thanks. ghost. I've had this HP Envy for a little over a year now, and shortly after having it the keyboard backlight just stopped working. It didn't really bother me until recently, as now I find that I'm in situations where the backlight would be handy. I've tried restoring the BIOS to the default, and I've tried updating the BIOS. The designated backlight key also does not work anymore, but its alternate fn command (f5) works.More replies

I just received my HP ENVY X360 (T5K88AV). I ordered it with the HP Truevision IR HD camera, which according to the HP website, supports Windows Hello. However, I see no option under Settings > Accounts > Sign-In for it. I spent an hour with HP Support Chat and let him remote in to take a look. He said it looked like no IR camera was installed. We tried installing the driver for it with no success. Is there something I am missing? Is the HP IR camera known to work with Hello? Or is there something wrong with my hardware or drivers?

I have this HP ENVY x360 - 15-u111dx and I would like to add a SSD to this laptop for the OS to reside on. According to the HP Support Assistant, it is a product number J9H90UA#ABA.HP Support page for this laptop provides me a link to this maintenance and service guide, http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04513489. It seems to indicate that it does have the ability to take an SSD in the form factor of "M.2 2280-S3-B-M" And in the product description, it says in the Internal Expansion section that it has this, "One 2280 M.2 daughter board - optional support for SSD"Used space on the C: drive is 90GB. The D: (recovery) uses about 30GB.This leaves me with a few questions.1. Can a SSD be added while keeping the factory 1TB drive installed?2. Can I migrate the OS (and recovery partition) to that SSD, boot to that SSD, all the while not messing the up the ability to do a system restore/recovery of the OEM Windows 8.1 software provided by HP?I think step 2 will be the trickiest. If someone knows of a free product to do this, I would welcome that recommendation. I'll also take recommendations for paid software if no free exists. Thanks. Edit: Sorry, I also have a video problem, and must have had that on my mind when I sellected where to post this. Could a mod move this to the correct forum please?
Hey @bob151?,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! This is a great place to find solutions and help from our community! I understand you have some inquiries about upgrading your HP Envy x360. I'd be happy to help with that. From what I could find in the service manual, it looks like your Notebook only supports single drive configuration. It does support up to a 256 GB SSD however, I'm not see a way to add an extra drive for booting. Hope this helps. Please keep me posted.
