Windows 10 Enterprise - Unable to auto connect to Verizon Mifi

Q: Windows 10 Enterprise - Unable to auto connect to Verizon Mifi

I have a Verizon Mifi Jetpack that I am unable to connect to using Windows 10 Enterprise. If I reimage the same machine with Windows 10 Pro it connects just fine.

When attempting to connect it hangs at "Checking network requirements..." and never returns. Never gives an error and never prompts for a password. If I manually create the network profile for the wireless connection I am able to connect.

Steps tried to resolve issue:

1. Tried switching from 2.4GHz to 5GHz on Mifi
2. Tried switching authentication protocols on Mifi (WPA2 AES, WPA2 TKIP etc..)
3. Tried deploying Windows 10 Enterprise on different machines. Same issue (Surface Book w/ Marvell NIC; Dell Laptop w/ Intel NIC)
4. Tested with updated drivers on the laptop with an Intel NIC.

Any ideas on this one? I've tried doing netmon and netsh traces and procmon traces but I can't seem to spot anything.

Thank you for your time.

A: Windows 10 Enterprise - Unable to auto connect to Verizon Mifi

Forgot to mention. All machines tested (Enterprise and Pro) were running 1607 Anniversary Update with latest cumulative update installed.

To begin with I am not a genius in the network area but I looked at this MIFI demo on the Verizon site and it sounded good to me. In addition, I was surprised at the price and the normal contract which I knew there would be one.

To me this item appears to replace the normal air card and offer substantial uses. I use a air card so my question is was this device designed to do just that, replace 3G air cards, or not.

Your thought please.

A:Verizon MIFI 2200

Yes, the Verizon MIFI 2200 is simply a wireless router with a CDMA WAN connection, and does indeed replace the 3G Aircard.

Just a note before I get into the problem: I have been trying to fix this problem for awhile to no avail, so I'm listing the issue along with ways I have tried to fix it below.

Okay, I have a Verizon 890L 4GLTE MiFi known as the Jetpack. Standard internet connections are great, the 4G LTE is lightning fast, and basic Xbox LIVE play works wonderfully on it. The issue is that the device has a Strict NAT. While this wouldn't be a big issue, I have trouble connecting with a few people on Xbox LIVE. I tried to fix this myself by assigning a static IP address to my Xbox 360 and forwarding ports 3074, 53, 88, and 80 (as is suggested on the Xbox Live tech support page) through the port forwarding option on the MiFi device settings. In the port forwarding settings it asks for IP address, Private port, and port. I put the (static) IP of my Xbox in address field, and put the same number in the private port and port fields (e.g. 3074) and selected the correct protocols for each port (as listed on the Xbox LIVE tech support page).

So basically it looked like this:
Address: Port: 3074 Protocol: TCP/UDP
Address: Port: 53 Protocol: TCP/UDP
Address: Port: 88 Protocol: UDP
Address: Port: 80 Protocol: TCP

Well I tried this, pulled the battery out of the Jetpack and disconnected my Xbox 360 from the wall.... and it didn't change the NAT. I tried changing to a different static IP and changed them on the port forwa... Read more

I participated in Microsoft's LoadFest event in Denver, wherein Windows 7 Ultimate (retail software) was installed (after reformatting the drive) on my Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop. All went well, but I've since discovered a problem with the Verizon MiFi 2200 wireless device and its associated software, VZ Manager (version Yesterday (10-14-09) I spent over an hour on the phone with 3 Verizon techs and was finally told VZ Manager is not compatible with Win 7. It previously worked fine with Vista Home Premium.

This was after updating the MiFi 2200 firmware, and installing all Windows 7 updates, including one for the Broadcom 802.11g adapter built into the laptop.

The MiFI 2200 is recognized by the laptop, but cannot connect to the device wirelessly; it does work normally if the USB cable is connected.

Thanks, Verizon, for being so indifferent to Windows 7's release.

Does anyone have other experiences with Win 7 and the Mifi or Broadcom adapter?

A:Verizon MiFi 2200 and Win 7 Partial Incompatibility

No, but have you tried running it in compatible mode? If you can find the executable, you can right click on it, select "Troubleshoot compatibility," and it may be able to figure out the proper mode.

We recently got a Verizon Mifi 4510L (previously had an AT&T USB Connect 881). We had a problem with the mifi constantly "rebooting" itself (dropping off and then restarting). Verizon replaced the Sim card on the Mifi, and that seems to have resolved that problem. However, my laptop loses the wifi connection (red X on wifi symbol in bottom right corner) approximately 10 times per day. It won't reconnect; I have to reboot the computer (very time-consuming to save what I'm doing, shut all the programs, reboot, restart the programs, etc.). My SysInfo is pasted below. The laptop is a Dell Latitude D620. I have installed the Windows updates and updated the firmware for the Mifi. I might add that our iPad and my husband's Acer netbook (with Windows XP) have no problem staying connected. And my laptop had no problem staying connected to the AT&T air card we had prior to this. I'm wondering if there is some setting that is conflicting or if my internal laptop wifi card is going bad (except I think that would be an all-or-nothing situation; in other words, it would work or it wouldn't and it wouldn't be an intermittent thing). Please help me if you can because I do medical transcription, and it's getting very frustrating having to reboot my computer all the time.

Just got off the phone with Verizon. They had me push the reset button and I was able to connect to the internet again. I mentioned how slow it takes for pages to load. She said if I have two firewalls running that can happen, then eventually it blocks your internet connection. I have the free Avira and am only using the Windows Firewall. She said the Verizon router has a firewall but it's a low security. So I went on the internet was able to get on some sites, but then others wouldn't connect again, said there is no internet connection. All the lights on the router are on. So far it's still working, but this is what happened before when I lost my connection completely.

I have Windows XP, tried it both on IE 8 and Firefox. The router is an Actiontec MI42WR. The problem was with both my desktop and laptop wired connections.

i've just gotten into Netflix/Hulu streaming video: movies and tv - this is in attempt to get rid of my $84 cable bill (Charter). however, I JUST discovered that streaming tv shows/movies uses up GIANT amount of my 3G mifi verizon allowance...I had never even approached the maximum and after viewing JUST a movie or 2-was getting 'alerts' that id used 50% and then 75% max. (the very next day) in the world do all these people I hear talking abt doing all this streaming afford it! I mean I only watched 2 episodes of tv show and 1 movie (maybe 2)...if I go up to 5G with Verizon, costs another $15...will it be enough?? I'm NOT a heavy user, and see most Netflix as DVD's but with no regular TV, I do like to watch some things occasionally....any advice, better do i decide...are ALL movies HD now...if I get them via imac desktop does that have any impact....NO movies watched on handhelds!! i'm too old!

thanks for any advice!

A:Cost comparison: verizon mifi vs. cable for streaming video

If you want to stream movies and video frequently, then a wireless broadband plan will be expensive. A higher capped cable broadband plan is a much better option. I suspect many people don't realize how much bandwidth streaming consumes but will quickly realize it after their first bill comes in.

I have been unable to connect to internet with verizon dsl for about a week now and today I called verizon and they ran ping tests to 3 different places and I am sending and recieving ok and in the control panel it says that my connection is connected, so the tech had me do some other tests and said that my internet explorer is not working right, is there someway to repair IE 7 like you could with win 98 or can you reinstall over top of the existing program. any help would be appriciated

A:unable to connect with verizon dsl

You can uninstall IE7, and then reinstall it. But try the following first.

(From a JohnWill post)

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

MIFI 2200 works with the USB connected to the computer but, won't transmit to another computer.

It is a desktop. So I put in a wireless card. It will identify that the network is there but, will not access it. Is there a difference between what a desktop wireless card will access and what a laptop or mobile device will talk with.
There seems to be because the MIFI will connect to a Droid and a laptop but, not to the desktop I want it to.

Is there a different card or some kind of USB thingy that I can use to make the two devices talk.

MIFI is a verizon cellular product to connect up to 5 computers.

It will work when plugged in directly but, not when it has to use the wireless card.

The computer I want to connect has a wireless card and will recognize the network but, won't connect. It is a desktop, not a laptop or mobile device.

Thank you for your consideration

Turns out that you can buy a WiFi adapter in a USB plug and play device for a newegg price of 7.99 dollars to a high price of about 150 bucks.

Is there any card that I can put inside the computer so I can make this permanent?

A:MIFI 2200 won't connect

you can use the device in two modes - USB, Wireless

what mode are you using it - should be wireless - you can then connect upto 5 devices to the MiFi with wireless and use the mobile broadband connection - Note your data plan , as it could get expensive

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-CR220E and I can connect wireless to my home router without any issues. I have a Verizon MIFI 4gLTE that I am trying to connect to and it doesn't show in the options for my connections. I have tried to manually input the information for this device and have called Verizon and after trying several different input methods still cannot get the MIFI to show up or connect. My old MIFI hotspot worked as long as it was tethered via USB cord but never showed as a wireless connection either. I tried to update the driver but it says it is up to date. Thanks for any help!

A:Vaio can connect wireless but not to MIFI?

I have a lot of experience with routers in general, but not MIFI itself. I am assuming they have a similar interface to typical routers? It sounds like your computer can access the setup page for the device. Am I correct in this assumption? Is the SSID being broadcast under the wireless settings? If not, you will not see it. What type of security is the device capable of? What security is the adapter you're trying to use configured for? You said that you are manually configuring the device, if so, have you set up a static IP route to the computer?

Let me know and I will continue to try and help you pinpoint the issue.

Verizon tech has yet to get back to me.

The mifi will connect on a laptop (Vista) and a emachines (XP)

Note: I have tried to use the adapter from the xp machine to connect but the same thing happens. I also used the d-link to connect to a netgear router on channel 1, so I know that it will connect.

I just bought the much hyped VIRGIN MOBILE MIFI 2200 today.
I got serial no. ,password, pin# all setup following simple instructions.
The little router shows up in my network connections.
I connect to MIFI router successfully after typing in the network key.
The signal is strong.

I launch my FIREFOX browser but i cant connect to the internet.
Yahoo, Google, Youtube Or Facebook all say '500 internal server error, problem loading page, Unable to connect'

It keeps sending me to the http://virginmobile.mifi site.
My account is already set up but i went through the setup again just to be sure.

I called Virgin Mobile hotline, they had me try all sorts of things.
Reset the MIFI router, put the router by the window, re-key everything
Turned off my home router to prevent interferences. Nothing worked.
Virgin mobile tech support has no idea what's wrong. They say it's my pc.
They hung up.

I tried different browsers, IE, CHROME, FIREFOX, OPERA nothing works.
In internet explorer, I set Lan Connections to auto detect. No luck.

Note: my regular home WIFI works just fine. I disconnect from my home router
And connect to the MIFI 2200 then that's when i can’t connect to the internet.

Hello all,

this is driving me nuts, also because of the fact that there seems to be no suitable information about that on the net.

I have a computer here that should connect to a WLAN using "WPA2 - Enterprise". For authentication, a computer certificate is used.

If I set the authentication method to "computer authentication" in properties, security settings, the connection is just established fine. However, after a few moments, the connection is terminated and the authentication method is re-set to "user-
or computer authentication".

This causes every connection attempt to fail with the message "A certificate is required for connection to [network name]".

If I then go to the properties of the network connection and set the authentication method to "computer authentication" again, the connection is again established for a few moments - until that setting is again "user- or computer authentication"
and the game starts over from the beginning :(

What is causing that setting to be reverted again and again? Why is my manual configuration not saved?

Thank you very much for all help in advance and kind regards,

I have a new system with a fresh install of Win 10 Enterprise 1607 (x64) that is connected to a domain with a group policy to NOT automatically download and install updates. The existing Win 10 Enterprise 1511 systems display the heading "Some settings are managed by your organization." (in red) on the Windows Update setting page. The new system does not display this heading (on that page.) It doesn't look like there was any problem downloading the group policies. Other setting pages that have this heading with the 1511 installs also have the heading with the 1607 install - just not the Windows Update page.

I do NOT want Win 10 to update itself without my say-so. This group policy was supposed to be maintained and adhered to with Win 10 Enterprise. Any ideas or pointers to references/resources would be greatly appreciated.

Hello guys,

I have just finished my very first computer build and am rather happy with most things.

Unfortunately I am having problems connecting to the internet.

I have a temporary dongle in place and because it's my only option for about a month I kinda need it to work.

When I first connected it I found my connection and I successfully connected, I downloaded Google Chrome and Steam, then unfortunately it randomly stopped working.

Where the strength bar should of been, there was a large red cross, when I found my connection it read "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network." I Googled this and people said delete your connection and reconnect, that didn't work, so then I tried to set my security type to something different or off as recommended in a solved post, the problem persisted.

Now after restarting my computer several times it sometimes rejects my password, or comes up with the "the settings for the network..." and on rare occasions it connects then 5 minutes later comes up wit my original problem.

I have tried resetting my connection details as what is saved on my laptop and mac and they don't work either.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards, Lee.

You don't need that "Verizon" software at all.

Is it a direct connection or wireless? Do you currently have it plugged into your computer?

I have no problems connecting to my email server when I am at my home and connected to the Verizon network through my verizon supplied router but anytime I am away from home and try to connect via a Wi-Fi connection I can't connect to the outgoing mail server. I can receive emails but cannot send.

I have done some troubleshooting and verified that the setup is correct per the Verizon site.

I can ping the outgoing mail server which tells me that I can see it but I am unable to connect to it for some reason.

Does anyone know if you can connect to the verizon outgoing mail server from a non-Verizon connection? I can receive email with no issues it is only sending. I am thinking that this is harder to pervent people from spamming through the Verizon mail server?

The following error is what I receive when trying to connect:

"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'verizon e-mail', Server: '', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number 0x800CCC0F"

It is a major pain in the butt to not be able to send emails if I am not at home. Any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.

I have a 2wire router that I purchased when I had ATT service. I now have Verizon DSL and I can't get it to work. Verizon tells me it's because I don't ahve their router but 2wire says there's no reason that it shouldn't work. When I plug it in, I get green lights on ethernet and internet but my DSL light flashes red. Last night it started flashing green and then going to solid red and the flashing green again. Can anybody help? I really don't want to buy another router if I can use the one I have. Thanks.

A:can't connect to Verizon DSL with 2wire

What's the model of the 2wire router? What brand and model of your current modem?

My windows 7 has been unable to completely start up... It has ran the 'Windows Auto-Repair' and i have run the repair console as well... Now this machine will run windows repair and say "windows is unable to auto repair." Thats all i know... I have unplugged all extra hardware... have ran an antivirus scan (before the repair consoles). I just need to know any tips/tricks to make this computer skip the repair part and load windows... I have the W7 disk, but it wont 'boot from disk' even when I select the boot menu option and choose my CD Rom Drive.

If this is useless/not enough information please ask me what you need and I will deliver!

A:Windows 7 Unable to auto Repair...

Upon power on tap the F8 key until you get the Windows boot menu, and see if you can do anything from there.

Assuming that the "W7 disk" is a Windows 7 installation DVD you will not be able to boot it with a CD drive--you need a DVD drive.

All of a sudden, WMP9 won't auto connect (open) when I click on a music or video file. I should say, it opens for about ½ second but immediately shuts down. I have reinstalled. but that didn't help. If I open WMP9 first and then click on a file, WMP9 closes down immediately. I have reviewed the WMP9 options settings, and everything seems to be set the way they always are. Anyone got any suggestions?

A:Windows Media Player 9 won't auto connect

its most probably codec corruption. download this pack: Klite Codec Pack. the latest version is 2.3.2. Its got all the codecs u'll need to play audio and video. Its even got an advanced media player included, which can play almost all audio/video files including DVDs.

Hello, I have recently moved into a new house. This house does not get any cable internet, and I would rather not use DSL as this house is a bit far from the town where the DSL line starts. Satellite internet is not an option either as it does not meet my needs. I do however, get good LTE connection here (<40ms latency) and thought that getting a hotspot from Verizon wouldn't be such a bad idea. I am aware of the somewhat high price of the data. I don't need to much data though. I usually don't watch any Netflix or HD videos at all. So I am set on getting one of those Verizon hotspot devices. Before I get the device I would like to know some things. Can I connect the hotspot device to my computer using the USB? I know the USB is used to charge the device, but could you also use it for giving the connection to a computer? My computer has no internal wifi adapter on the motherboard, and I don't want to use the wifi USB adapter I have because I am afraid that will slow the connection down. And if I can do that, how? Would I need to download a driver to be able to do that? I am able to do that as I have dish satellite internet here for now. I tried to hook up my phone via USB to my computer earlier today and use its hotspot to get a connection that would get me by for now. This didn't work. That concerns me because if I can't hook up my phone hotspot, how can I hook up the Verizon one? Will I need a USB to Ethernet port adapter? Could I hook up a ... Read more

Verizon DSL

I just installed Verizon DSL a month ago and this has occurred about 5 or 6 times....latest was this afternoon.
(I leave my computer running all the time). An hour ago I went to the computer, and wanted to update, (as an example) my Ad-aware....I open Ad-aware, click on "Check for Updates Now" and it freezes, clicking "X" does nothing, even using Task Manager does not close it. Now the same happens with any other Program (Spybot, SpywareGuard, SpywareBlaster, etc)...they simply cannot connect to their servers. This is basically the problem.

Also, I was not able to get IE, Firefox or the MSN Browsers to connect during this, generally speaking, I could not connect to the Internet or Program Servers.

I just got off the phone with Verizon and they say everything looks ok from their end, so they could not come up with a solution except to say that maybe I have "too many Programs running" (does that make sense?), I never had this problem with dialup (that's why I mentioned Verizon in the thread title).

Temporary Fix:
When this happens, I cannot Restart by going to Start>Turn Off Computer>Restart. I get as far as "Restart" then nothing happens. However, if I do a power down using the POWER OFF button on the tower and totally shut off the computer, everything returns to normal upon restarting and the Programs are able to connect.

Hello all!
My friend got a HP Mini 210 from Verizon, I believe a few years ago. It has a sim slot, but there isn't a sim card in it. I don't know if she took it out, or if she never needed one.
It is an HP Mini 210 running Windows 7 Starter.
Apparently she isn't using Verizon anymore, as she recently bought a T-Mobile hot spot instead. She can't get it to connect to the T-Mobile hot spot wifi, and I brought it home, and can't get it to connect to my home wifi either. Well actually it says "Connected" but "No Internet Access." Internet is fine and working well, so that is not the problem.
The Verizon connection is under Dial up and VPN(I think it is broadband), do I need to remove this connection to get the wifi to connect properly? It is not connected to the Verizon connection though. Is it possible that this laptop is "locked" to Verizon the way cell phones are?
The Troubleshooter says "Windows can't communicate with the device or resource. (primary DNS server)
This isn't my computer, so I am hesitant to do anything that I am not sure about. Any help would be awesome!

A:HP Mini from Verizon won't connect to wifi

They probably set a Proxy in the unit, either in Internet Explorer, or in the Registry.  Yes, delete the Verizon connection in Internet Options, in the Connections tab.  Check for a proxy in that same tab.

Hi Everyone.
My boyfriend's office just moved and at the new office they now have verizon fios as their internet provider. He hooks his laptop into the wall outlet and cannot get onto the interent. It says the page cannot be found. Everyone else in the office can get the internet and his wall jack was tested saying that the internet is being received. I looked at his settings and everything looks normal. The network conncections says the lan line is connected, enabled, and firewalled. I hit repair but still no internet page displays. I have a 2wire router that I had set up so I could use my laptop anywhere without being on a line. That was with ATT service. Now I've moved and have Verizon DSL. I thought I would just plug in the 2wire router but no, it won't work. My Belkin card says it's connected. The router says all green lights, but the internet won't connect.

However, when I put their crummy little lanyard router on (one line, ethernet cable, etc.) it works fine.

I tried running the ethernet cable through the 2Wire - NO CIGAR.

So, I'm stuck sitting in this seat with a 2 foot line to get on the internet. Verizon wants me to buy their (same) router before they will help me trouble shoot. That is so wrong! HELP?

Hello, recently my computer showed a windows security alert in the right hand side of the task bar. It said that windows automatic update was turned off. I clicked onto the windows security center and it would not let me turn auto update on. A message will sometimes pop up that says something like: "Windows is unable to turn on automatic updates please go the the control panal, click on system and turn them on from there." This message does not appear every time. When I click control panel>Performance/Maintenance>system>auto update, I apply the change and hit OK but nothing happens after that. The modem is Westell Wirespeed C90-36R516.

I bought a Linksys Wireless-G SRX200 router. Configured the TCP/IP to DHCP for Windows XP to obtain IP address automatically. Set the DSL PPoE username and password. Set the router password. Setup complete.

I am unable to connect to Verizon, just times out. I have to reconnect the ethernet directly to my laptop to gain connectivity.

When I open ether access manager I get signal strength shown in the access manager but when I try to connect to the network it fails.  The error that I'm getting says that it's not been activated so I contacted Verizon support on this issue two time and each time I was forwarded to then next level of tech support but each time it get the same results.  No connection.  I'm hoping that someone has run into this issue already and has an answer or can make some suggestions. thanks

How do I get my verizon usb mobile modem to work with my wireless router? My router is a Belkin N150. Thanks in advance

A:Verizon USB Modem to Connect to Belkin Router

Moving your thread to the networking forum, and I have edited the title for better results.
Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc Right click the devmgmt icon in the search results and Run As Administrator. In the Device Manager, under Network Adapters, is your Verizon Modem listed? or does it have a Yellow flag next to it? If the later, then you need to install the driver for it. If there are no flags and it is listed. Are you using the Verizon software to manage the wireless connection or the Windows software? Either way, you should have a Wireless icon in your system tray by the clock. Here you double click it to Show Available Wireless Networks. Does your Belkin Router show up? Can you try and connect to it? Do you have a wireless passphrase you need to type in?
Download the Wifi Inspector to test your wireless adapter and your routers signal.

We just got an Asus EEE netbook that has Windows 7 Starter edition on it.

An annoying problem with it is that even after setting our home wifi as the Home wifi connection, and I seem to remember also specifying that it should connect automatically in some dialog box during first-time setup, it defaults to needing to be manually connected every time. And there is no option anywhere to be found to set it for Auto. So I can not reset it to auto. There is no option available to do it anywhere that I can find.

To vent just a little: how could such a really obvious flaw like this go out to market? OK that's a rhetorical question. Of course a NETbook ought to be able to have its wifi set to connect automatically. It looks to me like some overzealous programmer has written in a non-overrideable default setting of 'manual connect' on this. Thanks, guy.

I searched online for a solution to this and could not find anything. There was one set of instructions I did find that supposedly pertained to both Vista and Win 7, but I hit a dead end because a folder it told me to go to (WLANServices) did not exist in this Win7 Starter version I have.

Also if anyone has the name and address of the programmer, that would be good too. I have a bag of something I want to mail to him.

thanks for any help

We had FIOS installed on Monday, and though all our regular devices connected just fine to it, my HP CP1525nw Color Wifi Laser printer will not. I have the M1424WR Rev I ActionTec router from Verizon.

Have run the HP setup utility for the printer numerous times and it only completed the first time. But after entering my credentials for the new network, it failed on me. And ever since then I cannot get it to complete the setup. It fails on me every time. In order to run the setup for wifi, I connect a USB cable from my printer to my XPS 17. But no matter, it doesn't work. Also tried connecting an Ethernet cable from the printer to one of the ports on the router but nothing happened. Also looked at my router settings, but could see no place to update anything related to the printer.

So I turn to the tech support guy site, because after scouring manuals and HP forums, I am no closer to figuring this out and right now my printer is an expensive paperweight. Yeah, I guess that I could use the USB connection but that doesn't seem to work either.

All I know is that the printer is giving me a 169.xx address, which is not on my subnet. It needs to be 192.168 something.

My computer was unable to upgrade to windows 7. I am using a compaq presario notebook PC. The boot device ( CD ) does not work, the system recovery does not work and there is no "repair my computer" on the F8 option. I tried safe mode and it does the same thing as start windows normally. It will say Setup is starting services and after 10 seconds it will auto restart.

Also, is there a way to load the windows.old files?

A:Unable to upgrade windows 7, starting services auto-restart

You can install Windows 7 from a flash drive if your computer supports it. If not, why not replace the optical drive so you have one that works?

If you do not have a Windows 7 installation DVD, you can download a legal copy with SP1 integrated from here: Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River.
Make sure you get the same version you have, Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate and 32 or 64 bit. Note that Basic or Starter is not available.

You can now use the downloaded .iso file to create a bootable flash drive using Universal USB Installer ? Easy as 1 2 3.

Simply start it, select Windows 7 from the drop down menu, point to the downloaded .iso and your flash drive, and your off.

I am a Verizon FIOS user, have been for about 2 years. I have multiple Verizon emails accounts which up until about 3 months ago I never had any problems downloading/uploading msgs via OUTLOOK EXPRESS on my PCs.

Starting November of last year however, I constantly get "stuck" trying to connect to any/some/all of my Verizon mailboxes via either OUTLOOK EXPRESS or via a program called MAILWASHER.

Both MAILWASHER and OE used to be able to connect to the Verizon mail server and initiate downloads/uploads to my accounts in seconds. Now however, almost every time I try to connect to get my mail, one or several of the mailboxes gets stuck and times out. Sometimes they all work fine. Most of the time one or another get stuck. So I have to keep stopping then reinitiating the mail connections to eventually get my mail, over and over again.

Note that I have 2 different PCs with the exact same problem. Also that I have a Yahoo business mail account also defined for both OE and MAILWASHER and that account NEVER has a problem - it is only with trying to download the Verizon emails.

Whatever the problem is it appears to be related to Verizon FIOS itself or their mail servers. I have asked Verizon for help and it was a complete waste of time. I have also posted on a FIOS related forum (back in November) but have still not been able to figure this out, although someone else there said they were having the same problem.

I'm using Vista 32bit, if thats any help

Well, I'd start by double checking that all your vent info info is correct, port # and password. If you have another machine, try connecting on that to see if its a local problem. There could be a population cap on your vent server, I'd ask the admin that.

If you can connect on the other machine, then I'd try reinstalling vent on your main machine, I've had file corruptions before that gave me the same issue.

for sometime now adware has taken control of my firewall and I have tried different firewalls with the same problems, have tried zone alarm suite, window live one care and I now have trendmicro 2007 suite installed. Something takes contol of the firewall and opens ports that i'm not able to close. To try and solve this problem I have done reformats and reinstalls of my operating system but the problem remains. I have tried adware, spybolt dearch and destroy, superspyware, avg antispyware and rootkit removers. Before posting this I tried adware again but I get a system error 1810 when I try to use it. I have also had a problem with spybot. When I installed it with trend micro my computer started to run really slow and I understand there is some problem with running the two together. I have also spent hours with trend online tecs and hp but they have not been of any help. I have a hp computer with windows xp home edition and I have Installed all microsoft updates. I can only hope there is someone who can help with these problems. as usual, i popped in the disc for my MS office 2007 to install things after a reformat. however, halfway during installation, this message popped up.since then it's been the same message whenever i try to reinstall it. i borrowed MS office 2003 from my friend too, but the same message actually popped up. how do i circumvent this? initially i thought it was the comodo defense blocking it from changing protected files, but even after disabling it, it didn't work.

I dowloaded and installed Office 2007 Enterprise 2 days ago (with a crack serial # that doesn't allow me to register the product anyway!) So now I want to delete it and go back to my 2000 version (I have a legal copy of this one!). So I went to control pannel and started the delete but I get an error message that a file is missing or corrupted and I should re-install. When I try to re install, I get the same message!!!
I can't I delete it!
Please help!

A:unable to delete office 2007 Enterprise!

Installing pirated copies of software carries a risk. Aside from the inability to remove Office 2007, you may also be infected with viruses and spyware. I would suggest formatting your system.

I am unsure if I have a virus, but I've been unable to update Symantec Endpoint Enterprise.  Unfortunately, I don't know how long this problem has been going on, since I've been out of town, and returned to find two of my family computers seem to be having problems.
On this computer, Symantec Endpoint Enterprise has not been updated since July.  I tried uninstalling it, and reinstalling the program, but am still unable to update.  I haven't noticed any other problems with this computer, but my wife's computer seems to be having all kinds of problems (more to follow on that one later), so I'm concerned.
I'm using Firefox as a browser and Windows XP (service pack 3) 32 bit OS.

Hi there,

Need advise on how to install the following applications without admin rights:
1) iTunes
2) MSN Messenger
3) Skype
4) Freeware PrimoPDF

Why are some application/software can be install without admin rights? The above are harmless applications.

A:Unable to install iTunes to my vista enterprise

Seeing as you are using vista enterprise, that laptop/pc may not be yours. Either way, you need admin rights so that the software will install and register itself so to speak in the registry properly and to ensure malware can be blocked by UAC when you have an option to install software.

I usually use the internet in 3 locations on my laptop and till a few days back the laptop would connect fine to all 3 wifi networks. However, out of the blue my laptop stopped connecting to the wifi at location A and B, and still connects fine at location C. Other laptops and phones still connect fine to the wifi at location A and B, there's been no change in the software on my laptop since before the problem and I've run a system restore too to back when it was working, with no luck. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter driver, also cleared my saved network locations and tried to connect again. Any other suggestions?

I've been looking all over the internet for help, and decided to make my own post!

I am trying to connect my vista enterprise 64-bit desktop to my XP laptop via a cross-over cable. Now, my vista-enterprise is not connected to any internet, only to this single cross-over cable. And my xp-laptop is connected to the internet via a wireless connection.

I tried everything, made a internet gateway with 'set up a home or small office network', tried rouletting with IP-adresses for AGES! I tried everything. I think I really need a step-by-step clear guide that tells me what to do, every step of the road.

Anyway, my laptops' things seem perfectly well connected. It just seems to work on the laptop side. However on the desktop side it keeps saying 'Unindentified Network', tried EVERYTHING for hours.

Now if I disable internet here, or the gateway, it reloads on the desktop too, trying to search a new network. I played with every network setting on both machines. Perhaps I should start it all over. I really need help.

I'm not that good with computers, so I'd need a step-by-step guide as to what to do, from scratch, exactly.

Guys, thanks it advance <3

Hi -
I know many people have had this problem, but I need help. I had to reformat my hard drive, and after that, I haven't been able to connect to my home network, though I can connect to other networks. Every time I try to connect, it just says "Unable to connect" (I can't even enter in the password). When I click on troubleshoot, it just says that it can't find the problem. Any ideas??

A:Windows 7 unable to connect

Well, the normal recommendations are to unplug both your router and modem for 30-60 seconds. Plug the modem back in and wait until all the normal lights are lit with no blinking. Then plug your router back in. If that does not work you can reset your router to the factory defaults by pushing the rest button which should be on the back or bottom of the router.

Is this VPS located on a Windows Server? Are you running Windows 8 Pro version?

Are you running any type of third party anti virus software on this machine?

The directions for connecting to a VPN with Windows 8 may be helpful.

May be as simple as a driver. type device manger in search. Go to the network tab. Is you device listed? does it have a yellow triangle on it? are there any other "unknown" device with yellow on them?

If your device is not listed, or has a yellow triangle on it you need to install the driver. Go to the MFR website and download it.

So I've been using this computer to connect wirelessly to a router in another part of the house for the past few months. Then one day, I started getting this 'Windows was unable to connect to SSID' error message.
I've tried the below :-
Disabled and enabled the wireless adapter. No effect.
Switched to a wireless adapters of another brand and model. Worked for a while and then the same error message popped up.
Turned the router off and on. No effect.
Formatted and reinstalled windows. Worked for a while and then the same error message came up.
Tried looking for updated adapter drivers but there's only one driver on the manufacturer's website so that wasn't the cause.
Tried the ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew. No effect.
Tried the netsh commands. No effect too.
My system had had no hardware changes at all so what could be the problem. Please help because I sure wouldn't want to spend unnecessary money buying a new router or applying for another line.
A screen capture of my ipconfig /all results is over here.

Laptop or desktop?

Are there other SSIDs that you can connect to just as a test? Perhaps ask a neighbor.

Hey all,

Since today I can't connect to the modem with my desktop pc(windows 7 x64). I get APIPA as IP adress(169.254.*.*).

this is how my connection looks like. I got only modem & switch between my connection to the internet. edit: without the fileserver
I've checked the following things with my other PC(=notebook windows 7 x86): modem, switch, cable and my network card and everything did work fine.
note: I did use the same cable as I was using for the desktop PC to be sure that the cableline was fine.

edit:I made the next tests with my desktop PC.

Then done the next ones without success:system restore(1 week)
winsock fix
reinstalling the networkcard
giving static IP adress

My network card settings are the same for the both PC, set to automatically obtain IP address and DNS server addresses

Your desktop IP configuration is
Subnet Mask:
Default Gateway: none

Your notebook's IP configuration is
Subnet mask:
Default Gateway:
DHCP server:

You have not given the IPCONFIG/ALL of your file server which could be your Gateway, DHCP server and DNS server.

Your notebook is getting the IP configuration from the wireless Access Point which is fine. These values may not be applicable to your desktop as it is directly connected to the switch.

If your file server is configured as DHCP server, and your desktop's IP configuration is set to automatically obtain IP address and DNS server addresses, then your desktop will get these values from your server.

Otherwise you have to manually set the values for IP address, Default Gateway, DNS server to get internet on your desktop.

As I can see the default gateway entry for the desktop is empty.

So please open the network adapter's properties on your desktop and check the above values.

If they are set manually you have to obtain the default gateway IP and DNS server IP from your fileserver and enter in the network card IP configuration.

Or you can make the IP configuration to get these values automatically from DHCP server on your LAN.

If you have a system admin check these with him. He should be able to help you out.

Hi, I realise that this problem has been asked many times over the Internet, however I am at my wits end over this problem.
I would like to have Windows 10, but I have downloaded it four times, and each time I am unable to connect to the Internet, either by WiFi or Ethernet cable. I have Windows 7 Home, Premium, 64bit. with a Generic Desktop. Each time I have upgraded to 10, I have had to revert back to Windows 7.
I have tried all the suggestions on Microsoft. and Google Search, without any success. I have purchased new Wireless adapter Cards, and USB wireless Adapters. I have no idea now, as to what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have searched and tried many suggestions over the last 3 - 4 months, without any success. When I revert back to Windows 7 Home Premium, all works fine again, without any problems.

A:Unable to Connect to Internet with Windows 10

Hello, you might have a basic low level driver incompatibility. Not all PCs work well with Win 10. I can't tell how old your PC is, and you'd be in the best position to assess that. For example, some laptops sold with Win 7 simply cannot be upgraded to '10.

Suggest you research the compatibility of your MBO and see if there's a record of anyone else with experience of it.

I received an update yesterday morning from MS and then had trouble with the machine booting and connecting. Finally after 10 or 15 minutes of a black screen it booted and then I was able to connect to the internet. It connected all day yesterday and then last night I lost the connection again.

I rebooted this morning - and once again it takes 10 minutes for everything to load but then once loaded will not connect to the internet. I have another desktop running through the same router so I know the connection is good.

I'd appreciate any help!

That last update seems to have caused alot of problems.
Use System restore to a pint of time before you instaled the update, or
Wait for Microsoft to launch a bug-fixing update

This all started after I reset the router putting in new pass code.I'm using same name of the old SSID

When you click on the wireless network connection on the name of my SSID on connect it saying.

Getting information from SSID. ( this sounds like good thing that windows 7 can see the router and talk to it)

Type in the network key. ( same thing looks like windows 7 can see the router and talk to it)

I type in the network key and OK.

Than it is saying windows was unable to connect to SSID name.

I have set up other computers and it can connect, but this one computer running windows 7 cannot. I have the pass code down on paper and other computers can connect!! So wrong pass code is not the case.

The only thing I can think of is is computers using the old profile or my network card may need to be reset.

When I open networking sharing center and click on manage wireless networks, I removed the old profiles in the list!! But I'm not sure if there is still some kind of conflict or the old setting still there some where.

Well because I'm using the same SSID despite the router reset and new pass code I'm not sure why I cannot connect unless the windows 7 thinks I'm connecting to the old SSID.

I tried to restart the computer and no change.

A:Windows was unable to connect to SSID

Force the system to forget that SSD and then reboot.
Now look for it again and enter the passphrase.

Hello, I'm having some wifi issues. In the past few weeks I've only been able to use the internet on my laptop when connected via ethernet, despite having used the same wireless, router, laptop, etc perfectly fine for years!
When I first start up my laptop, I can see the list of my available connections. I press connect for my usual home router and then it will say "Windows was unable to connect to blahblahblah". And then the list will have a red cross and claim no connections are available.
If I press troubleshoot problem, Windows Network Diagnostics says to "investigate router or access point issues", which involves turning the device off (done this several times). When I select "check to see if problem is fixed", it thinks for a bit then says "Windows cannot resolve your wireless connectivity issue".
Please can you help?

A:Windows unable to connect to Wifi

Welcome to BC. !
Have you Reset the router ?....this usually involves inserting the end of a paperclip into a tiny hole located on the router the name of the router and it will show you where that hole is.
The word Reset should be written directly above/beside the hole.
To do this, press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds. NOTE: Resetting your router to its default factory settings will also reset your router's password. The router's default password is “admin” as for the username, just leave the field blank.

I am unable to connect to windows update in any form. I have tried using the Windows Update program and the microsoft update website. When i use the Windows Update program, it detects that there are updates to be installed, but when i try to download them it never connects. I have left the laptop on overnight to see if it was just a slow or lagging connection, but when i awoke in the morning it was still at 0%. The microsoft update website pulls up as internet explorer cannot display webpage. I have put all of the windows addresses as trusted zones, and I have tried disabling my virus scanner, i have run trend micro HijackThis and Housecall, spybot search and destroy, and Mcafee's virus scanner (not that i expected anything productive out of that last one). My windows copy is legit. Any help would be greatly appreciated!Edit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum at the suggestion of another staff member. ~ Animal

Very common problem but with many possible solutions, some of which are covered in the link below. It seems that 3G connection and using a proxy can cause this problem. If you look to the right in the link below there are more links to the same problem.
