Hi Folks,

After I installed the new Mozilla Firefox browser, I've been unable to print. I don't know how that could happen -- I don't see the connection. I tried reinstalling the printer software, but that didn't work.

Do you folks have any idea what could have happened?

Thanks in advance!

hello dear sir
I have the problem with my printers in my office . the printers are HP laser jet 1300 and 2035.
my problems is : After I print a document , printer does not stop and printing white papers until I stop print service or power down the printer.
whenI push ctrl+p  to print ,
some files like shockwave.shd appears in this address." c:\windows\system 32\spooler\printers". and these files never vanished unless i stop the print spooler.
I know that  : The following briefly describes the purpose
of SPL, SHD, and TMP files:

SPL files are the actual spool (print job) files.

TMP files are usually associated with LPR print jobs.

SHD files provide information about which printer the print job was sent to and from
whom the print job came. An SHD file is a "shadow" file that keeps track of what logical printer a (same number) xxxxx.spl file goes to. It also contains the file's order in the queue, the user who sent the file to the printer, and other information.
These files are usually deleted unless the logical printer settings state otherwise.
but these files  never vanished and untils these file were removed manually ,
printer cant print at all.
please help me .

Whenever I print to the shared printer on my Windows 7 desktop, the print job will just sit in the print queue. If I stop and then start the print spooler, the job will print. It happens from an XP laptop. Print jobs sent from the local Windows 7 computer print just fine.
How can i solve this one ? :(

This issue with some particular laptop running windows Xp and windows 7 Home

A:Whenever I print to the shared printer he print job will just sit in the print queue

So, the Windows 7 Desktop has the printer physically attached to it and it's shared?
And the XP laptop is sharing the printer through the network? If I understand you correctly?
If so, on the XP Laptop, go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. Are there any devices with yellow flags? Or Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is there an Unknown Device? Or any listings for the printer? If so, right click it and Uninstall it. Now go to Start/Run and type appwiz.cpl and press enter. In the Add Remove Programs uninstall any drivers or software for the printer. Now,go to Printers and Faxes, and if the printer icons is there, Right click the shared printer icon and Delete it. And Restart the computer. Now when the computer comes back up, go to the printer manufacturers support/download drivers site and type in the model# for the printer and download the driver for the printer for XP and install it. Now, go to Start/Run and type the computer name of the Windows 7 machine (ex) \\ComputerName and press enter. A window should open up with the shared drives on the 7 computer, with the shared printer. Right click the shared printer and choose Connect. This will add the printer to Printers and Faxes again. Right click this printer/Properties and print a Test Page.

I have an HP C5280 printer running wirelessly via a TP Link wireless print server and D Link Di 624 wireless router. I can print successfully from either my desktop (which is connected direct to the D Link router) or either of my laptops (wireless). However, when I select the double-sided print option I get a print error message after re-inserting the odd number pages to print the other side of the paper and then click 'continue'.

Could I resolve this by connecting the printer both direct to the desktop using USB AND leaving it connected via the wireless TP Link print server? This would enable me to print double-sided from my desktop (as I did before when the printer was only connected via the USB desktop port).

Hi, I just purchased an used computer with Windows 7Home Premium x64, this is an HP Slimline s5610f. The problem that I have is with a Brother HL 2040 series printer. It gave me a really hard time to install the drivers that I downloaded from the Brother website I kept getting a "0x00000057" error and "could not find suitable driver for this printer" error. Finally I decided to take the driver folders for this printer from my wife's computer and copied them to my computer and put them in the drivers repository under System32 and was able to install the printer after that with no problems.

The problem that I have right now is that the printer won't print, even though it told me that the driver installation was successful.

1-the print button is grayed out
2-If I click "printer properties" it tells me that the drivers have not been installed and asks if I want to install them.
3-If I install the drivers at this prompt it tells me that the drivers have been successfully installed.
4-Now it lets me access the printer properties but when I click "print test page" either nothing happens or it tells me that it failed to print and access is denied
5-If i close printer properties and try to access it again it tells me that the printer drivers have not been installed.

I get the same results with the printer connected locally trough USB or on another computer through the network.

A client is interested in having external networking ports available for printing to internal, XP-attached shared workstation printers.

Basically, they want to print to external IP address 123.123.123.123:8765 and have IIS push that data to a shared printer at someone's workstation. Ideally we would set up six or eight of these, each with a different port on the public IP.

Any suggestions?

Hi there,
OK, here we go. I previously owned a Lexmark Z25 printer and up to a certain point, it was printing ok. Then it abruptly stopped printing any pages. It sounded as if it was getting the signal from the computer, but nothing would print. Rather than buy new cartridges, which would have cost more than a new printer, I bought a Dell 720. Now, the color prints fine, but I cannot get the black to print. The cartridges are just about full with only a small amount out of the black cartridge.

I read somewhere this week that it has something to do with the software. I believe there was a work-around, but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it and I didn't bookmark the page! My other computer is WinXP, but I didn't like XP and the fact that I got hosed on the deal with only 128 RAM - never could track down the guy who sold it to me..Figures. Anyway, I now have a computer with WIN2K. I don't have the software for the Dell printer, but I downloaded the drivers from the Dell site. I do have the software for the Lexmark.

Lately, it seems I've seen Dell and Lexmark being spoken of in the same sentence - are they connected?? A LEXPPS.exe, which is Lexmark corporation, is "listening" according to my Comodo, leading me to believe that Dell and Lexmark have a lot to do with each other.

I'm sure this sounds quite like rambling on my part, but this little problem is driving me crazy right now, and while not really a newbie, I'... Read more

I'm working at an office where when you hit the Print Screen button, it causes a printout in addition to the normal copy to clipboard. I just want to copy to clipboard without wasting toner and paper. It can't be a program on the computer as it's clean with just Windows 8.1

It actually happens on all the machines (whether Windows 7, 8, or 8.1). Is it a program installed on the server? Is it a setting in Windows? How do I stop this behavior?

A:Print Screen button will print to the printer! how to stop

By definition the print screen function only sends the image to the clipboard so if the printer is also involved then something else -- some other software installed on your machine -- is the culprit here.

One way to find out what it is is by unhooking the printer and then watching the screen to see what error messages pop up when trying to use the print screen function.

I'm not sure if this is a Windows situation or something with a program I use called Paint Shop Pro (PSP), but the page has changed that I view when saving a file within PSP. My apologies for posting if it's not windows related, but thought I'd try here first.

When I save a file, the page save dialog box comes up for me to tell it where to save it. It used to be that the page underneath that box would show the files and folders in the right pane, and in the left pane would be the Explore tree showing what's on computer. Now, when I save something in PSP, I only see the files and folders and not the tree.

If I save a Works document, I do see what I'm used to seeing, so that's what made me think it may just be a malfunction of my PSP program.

I have tried to resize the window as it comes up full screen and it will not let me grab any side to resize. The 2 small black arrows show up only on the left-hand side and won't appear on any other side of the page. However, even with that, it just won't budge.

It just started appearing in this format in the past week -- until then, I saw the Explore Tree as well. It's no biggie and I can live with it, but just wondered why it changed and if there was a way to get it back to what I was used to seeing.

They are all connected to the internet via the router.
I have also connected my hp office jet 7310 printer to my router since it has an ethernet port.
how do i make it, so every computer on my network can print from this one printer?
the other thing is since its connected to the router directly, i dont want to have the printer connected to any computer via usb, so can someone please direct me to a tutorial in which all my computers can print from this one printer which is connected to the router via a direct Ethernet cable?

I have one wired computer in a wireless network of 5 other computers. The printer and modem are attached to the wired tower. I have just changed the modem from a Netgear modem to a Belkin wireless modem router but whilst I can print from the tower, I cannot print from any other the other computers.

Where do I start to fix the problem?

A:I changed the modem now cant print

Check the firewalls. The Netgear and Belkin routers use a different subnet. My guess is the firewall configuration is configured for the old Netgear subnet and is blocking traffic for the Belkin addresses.

Similar to Buzzmonkey thread, the Epson 440 printed fine with win 95. When we upgraded to Win98, all we get is a full set of red LEDs. I've reloaded the drivers, no joy. What do I do next?

A:Epson 440 won't print since changed from Win 95 to Win 98

Hi,

Have you tried re-seating the cartridge? Or testing the printer on another system? Try downloading and installing the latest Win95/98 drivers.

http://support.epson.com/hardware/printer/inkjet/sc440_/index.html

EPSON claims that their Windows 95 drivers are fully compatible with Windows 98, so if upgrading the drivers doesn't work, then you might want to look more closely at the printer itself.

Hope this helps,

I had a Print Server EUSSO that connected with my old deskjet printer (HP deskjet 845c USB) to my knowledge it working fine...

Though I had bought a new printer (HP laserjet 1020 USB) hook it up to a Print Server but to my amazement, I couldn't get it to work (it working fine, if plug direct to PC)... I set it the way I worked with the old deskjet (HP deskjet 845c USB) and I don't see why it didn't work... Or maybe the Print Server do not support the new Printer? I had visit HP support site, and they just didn't give me any good solution...

Note: upon completing the setup and do a test print; I notice there aren't any error messages display... I see a queue of file on the Printer Document Name last for 2 seconds and dissappear, No errors messages...
But if I try to change the port name/number it will display error message upon printing, and the file on the Printer Document Name didn't dissappear either...

I am so curious why it didn't work?
1. I know it not the printer fault
2. Print Server is not malfunction either (unless it not meant to support my new printer)
3. Not the cable either
4. I don't see any wrong doing with my setup, since I got the first one work and running
5. Now I am sitting duck

Any feed back on this issue would gladly be appreciated...

A:Print Server won't print on new printer

Did you install the drivers for your new printer? (Obvious, sorry, but I have to ask) Best bet would be to uninstall all printers and printer software you have and start over from scratch.

The print server doesn't have to support your printer - all it does is take the data sent by your computer and forward it to the USB port. Your printer however has to support the print server. Some printers require a bidirectional connection with the computer and that cannot work over the network.

Does your print server suppirt several types of connection? It could be any combination of LPR, SMB, JetDirect and any proprietary protocols. Try something else than you are using right now.

this is hell,

well that's how i describe my situation now. My company has 2 sites, each site has its own File Servers, in these file servers, i also installed driver for HP LaserJet 5100 for network printing. currently i'm using universal HP driver, directly downloaded from HP.com, and the PostScript Driver, i believe these drivers are the latest updates from HP.com.

now i'm talking about the issues in site B, as site A is working fine, all of my user in Site-B can't save Office 2003 to both of my file servers. the error are:
1. windows delayed write failed and followed by The Disk Is Full and Document not saved.
2. if i save the file to the local computer, then i copy the file to the both of my server, the error will be network path is no longer available.
i also had installed office 2003 SP3 to my client computers, but this does not solve the problem.

further more, now my users in side B can't print to the network printer. the error says 'Out Of Memory', but sometime nothing happened, the printer is in 'Pending' condition, and file that are printed just hang and not responding.

but if i move to Site A, then try to save any 2003 files to file server in site B, no issue, and i can print any file to site B. in the end, i formated the file server in site B, but no luck.

any comment is appreciated.

I finally got windows to update. Everything was great. I changed the settings to "Let me choose..... ". Everything was still great. Then I unticked the box about getting Microsoft Software updates because I didn't think I would need software updates. It flashed a warning at me but I thought it was just about the software so hit OK anyway. I then lost the last two boxes you normally see on that update page. Got them back by installing Silverlight again. Have them ticked again. But now, when I go to the Windows Update page it constantly shows me a big red X. I got to change settings and put it to fully automatic, hit ok... but it won't save that change. It shows me the red X again.

Yet, when I look at the GWX panel it shows I have updates set on Automatic (photos attached). So I have no idea what is going on. I"ve tried a few fixes..... did a Windows update trouble shoot thing through Microsoft that said it had fixed 3 issues (don't know what now didn't take a screen shot sorry) and that made the update page look even worse. Now is says I've never updated etc (photo attached). So, is there a way I can revert so tht new saved icons get saved on right-side of the bar?

A:Favorite bar icons changed save order after TH2 update - Help

I've not found a way to change this behaviour but you can drag items to a new position. I think the reason they changed it is because the Favourites bar can fill up and then new items don't appear as they are hidden off to the right side of the bar and you have to click the double arrow (>>) to see them.

Okay, so I have gotten into video editing and recently made a huge family video. . . it was over 4 gigabytes in size so when I tried to transfer it to my external hard drive which was formatted with Fat32 it said it couldn't do it because it was over the 4 gigabyte single file limit. So, I transferred all of my stuff onto my OTHER external hard drive, formatted the FAT32 hard drive with NTFS and transferred everything back to it. Now I can't save any changes to any text documents, word documents. . . and I'm sure the problem will run deeper. Hey, I need some help and hope someone has an idea!

When I attempt to save an .eml file from my webmail provider (very small local provider), it will only save as "All files" and it doesn't have a file type. It will open in Thunderbird, but when I go to print it prints as a .txt file.
I am ashamed to admit it might be my fault - I did some registry fixes when I got this computer and could no longer view my video files because they were saved in an unusual format. In most instances I have no interest in printing a file or a web page in color; thus if I could somehow either convert the color portions to black and white in my computer, or force my printer to print only with black ink regardless of what it sees in terms of color, it would be great. I called the printer manufacturer (Brother) and the rep said that as far as she knew the printer can only print what it sees, you can't compel it to print in b & w. Obviously, if you're copying or faxing you can use "black start", but apparently not when printing--is the Brother rep right? And if so, can the computer be made to strip the image of color so that the printer only sees black and white?

A:how can you print in b & w to save color ink

in internet click on file then print and choose printing preference. you can choose black and white from there. or you can try going to your printer's utility.

i want new print queue feature

thats save the print queue items of last one week,

ie we want to reprint something we goto ex-print queue and print from there

instead of opening the word or any other program and then clicking on the print icon

this way we can reprint the file that we printed from the usb or dvd but didnt save it on our computer

A:save the print queue

Option 2 of this tutorial tell you how to manipulate the print spooler queue - but instead of deleting the entries you could try to copy them. Then you can reset them at a later time.

When I open a file that is located in a passworded, shared directory on our Win 98 file server, make changes to the file and then try to Save As a new file name in same location I get the following error message: The folder (location string of the original opened file) isn't accessible. The folder may be located on an unavailable volume or protected with a password. This just started happening on one of our networked Win 2K machines after loading recent MS Updates from MS. How can I save the new, changed file to the same directory that I opened the original file from?

I uninstalled the latest MS update Rollup1 for SP4. This also solved a major computer slow down that also was encountered after the update. Obviously I'm not impressed with Rollup1 for SP4.

This is a really strange one.

I reinstalled Windows 2000 on my PC last week. Since reinstall, all has been well, until I tried to print a Web page today. Pressing the print button makes the 'Save As' box appear. The only option in the 'Save as type' pulldown is to save the file as a Microsoft Document Imaging Format file.

If I do that, the file saves, but still doesn't print. Pressing Print again just makes the same box reappear. It's impossible to print anything at the moment.

I thought this was just an IE thing at first, but have checked it on a load of other programs, and the fault is happening on all of them - it seems to be a setting within Windows that's gone haywire.

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro with all updates. I've run a virus check on the whole system and - nada.

FWIW, I've taken an HT file...

My printer is connected, printer icon is in tray, and it is recognized by my Belkin router manager-- but when I try to print I get a screen that says 'save the file as an *.xps document'...and it won't print. I don't want to save it - I want it to print.

I ran a search for 'xps' and the list came up with XPS Viewer and XPS Viewer Manifest. Both are located in C:\Windows\system32\xpsviewer. This has been after I downloaded something to scan my drivers for outdated ones. When I discovered that you have to buy the software I uninstalled it. I never had the problem before that.

It is on my Dell laptop, running XP Home Edition.

1) connect to the internet
Then choose from a list of internet service providers

From there you can choose one if you want to buy their

2) Set Up my Connection Manually
Then connect using broadband connection
Then type in the name of your ISP and it will give you

I could not take the next steps as they would mess up

I have Word '97 running on a Dell XPS D300. The problem is I can't get Word to print anything. I can print from Excel, Outlook Express, Explorer, etc. but not Word. Also, when I click on any of the save buttons such as Save As or Save I also get nothing which is what I get when I click on the print icon or from the File menu. This happened all of a sudden.
The last thing I did was change some stuff in OE to open a browser window when I clicked on a link. AEfiedler recommended a link to go to where I could change this in Explorer but I don't know or doubt that that would have affected anything in Word>
Please help!!

A:{RESOLVED} Word '97 won't print or save.

Hi. Have you run a search? I know I've put the steps to troubleshooting Word 97 and Word 2000 in here. Try searching the MS Office forum for the word "troubleshoot".

Anyway, close Word, find the file(s) on your PC called normal.dot and rename it (them) to abnormal.dot.

Relaunch Word. That should fix it. If not, email [email protected] for instructions to do just that. No subject or message required--it comes through auto-reply. Helps with a lot of problems.

Let me know if neither of these help you. I've got more.

This is happening right when I click File - Print, before I even see the print window with different printers, etc. I have all updates installed and using the latest version of chrome. Also I feel like this other problenm could be part of it. I cannot get any external 'path' windows to show up. When I try to add an attachment in gmail, the window to choose that attachment never comes. This happens in IE, firefox, and chrome. This also happens for example when running the CCleaner registry scanner and trying to save the backup of the registry, nothing comes up asking where to save, therfore I can't save it. This happens in everything (trying to upload pictures, etc.)

Nothing changes when running in safe mode.

As the topic says, windows had a forced reboot approx a week ago, and after the restart my Google Chrome changed fonts and the save window looks like it's from Windows 98.  Also when you start up chrome there looks like a box covering the tabs, minimize, maximize, and close buttons.  Once you highlight the covered items the box goes away.

I've tried running many cleaners, Malwarebytes, Spybot Search and Destroy, AVG, Microsoft Security Essentials, tdsskiller, hitman pro, roguekiller, iexplore, adwcleaner, and ccleaner.  Also I have spywareblaster installed as well. All were run both in regular, and safe modes with and without networking.  Nothing major was found.  I even tried uninstalling chrome completely and wiping the registry keys and such from the system and fully putting in a clean install, but it's still there.  I've tried using firefox and internet explorer to see if they look off too and they don't.  I'll attach a photo comparing chrome, internet explorer, and firefox save windows.

Therefore I need the help of you guys and gals who know more about registry keys and such than I do.

hi all,

Going wind7 soon. Want to copy folder lists and files/contents in window explorer and print them out, then compare with the folders etc on my external HD backup to make sure whats there and if I need to save anything else.

Is there a software that will do this, or way to copy/paste or something similar?

suppose there could be print screens or snip tools but that sounds like a lot of extra work.

thanks,

Msongs

A:copy/save & print folders lists?

Well, it's probably not the easiest way to do it, but you can go to any Windows Explorer list in Windows Explorer and do a Prt Sc (or in my case Fn key + Prt Sc). Then paste the image into WordPad and save it as a Word doc. Note though, that when you do this step, it appears to "save" in Rich Text Format, but when you try to open the Word doc, you may have to do a Save as, into RTF again.
Then, when you go back into Windows Explorer to access the file, strangely, the image you printed is saved as a folder, and within the folder is the Word doc in which the image is actually printed.

I found a great file on the web, (fully legal to download & so appreciated) - 1 workbook, has Data sht (very simple short list) has Form sht with print module/macro in it referencing indirect data pull from Data sht to populate Form sheet. It works great EXCEPT - it only has options to Print Preview and Print out. I need to somehow save each newly "merged" sheet (i.e. one form for each record in the Data file) saved as a New Spreadsheet named from cell G78 which is in the range on the Form sht. I have worked on this for days and just can't get it to work right.... Ideally, I would like to almost Print Preview the "merged" form, and save each "previewed" sheet as it's own workbook named as shown in the example file. I have it working enought that after the ActiveSheet.PrintPreview it will save the Workbook to a new file, but I don't want the whole workbook, just the active sheet range B7:BH to B79:H79. Probably very simple for anyone but me.. Currently I have to manually type every single order for each record in the Data table ! I so appreciate any help - even if it's just point me in the right direction. Thank you so much

I work with Corel Draw several hours a day: versions 8 and 10. If I work with regular vector images, there is hardly ever a problem. Whenever importing image files: jpg, tif, etc., there is a 50-50 chance that the program will crash either when printing or when saving. On a save, the entire file is wiped out. The images imported are clean and not high res. Contacted Corel and they've only given me "generic" answers and information: really lame for a large company. Upgraded the version 8 to .369, but no difference. PC's are both over GHz in processing speed, LOTS of DDR RAM and work well with Illustrator and Photoshop. Only Corel gives us problems. I am using similar code to this thread:
http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/175786-word-form-required-fields.html
but instead of required on print, I have fields to be required before saving and printing.

To accomplish on save I used the same code except for the Title line of code:
Public Sub wordApp_DocumentBeforeSave(ByVal Doc As Document, SaveAsUI As Boolean, Cancel As Boolean)Click to expand...

I am using a 2003 Word Document Template.

My question is, I have a custom calendar userform that seems to break the field requiremens whenever the calendar pops up (I have a macro set to run on entry on certain date fields).

Is there any way to work around this? I can post up some sample code as necessary.

Hi

I've got Vista Ultimate 32bit installed and a Brother MFC-9045CDN printer.

I've installed the printer driver twice (is supported) one for b&w printing, one for color printing. The user does not have permissions to manage the printer and therefore cannot change the properties.

Unfortunately when I change the properties using the Administrator account they are still not changed when the user accesses the printer. They are only changed for the Administrator.

How can I change the printer properties for all users by using the Administrator?

Hi,

I'm experiencing lots of pain with Internet Explorer 7 under Vista Home Premium x64. Any help/pointers would be appreciated.

Ever since I got my new AMD Quad-core PC 3 months ago, I have been struggling with the IE7 that it came pre-installed. Everytime I try to save a webpage, the Save As dialog window would pop up (which is normal), but after I type a filename and hit Save, an error will pop up saying that "The webpage could not be saved to the selected location." , no matter where that location is (any folder). For the longest time, I thought it was something do to with the webpage security stuff. However, when I use my other PC running XP, I can save any webpage to any location with no problem.

Whenever I want to print by clinking on the Print icon, another error message will pop up saying "Missing C:\temp\temp2\???????". The ?????? is whatever temperary filename. The C:\temp\temp2 is my personal temp folder (I didn't use the windows default temp folder).

I can print normally with no problem from any other applications, so it's not my printer driver not installed properly. The same problem happens everytime I try to print.

So there, I cannot print and cannot save any webpages that I want to keep a record of. After lots of researching (with no actual solution), I found out it's because of the Windows jscript error. I thought if that's the case, upgrading IE may help, so I upgraded to the latest IE8 beta 2 (the stable one). But no, it didn'... Read more

Now, I have a new question. I don't like the new IE8. Is there a way to uninstall it and revert back to IE7?

A:Excel 2003 save double sided print output

You can save printer settings for most printers. If it is a work printer you might not be able to though. Within the "Print" (CTRL-P) properties dialog box try clicking on a button called "preferences." Usually somewhere in here you can save what they call a "profile" via a button. I hate to be so vague but each printer has different preferences.

A:How to copy, save, print email message content on desktop

Which email package are you using; how do you access your emails?Meanwhile... Presuming you can access and read the content OK..., simply highlight, select/copy the content to a Word document or other similar text application. Give a it a suitable name save it either to the desktop - better still to a specific folder... - and you're done.Incidentally I wouldn't dump loads of email files (or otherwise) onto the desktop itself; rather create a folder within "MyDocuments folder" and store them all there. The less you have on your desktop itself the better; less clutter and also doesn't use up RAM resources either... Although nowadays RAM aspect is likely less an issue than in the distant days of low/small RAM installations.

Hi guys,

My MIL printed her Avon invoice to a Quicken PDF printer??? And now she can't switch it back. I don't remember well enough to talk her through it and she needs it pretty bad. She's 80 and doesn't really understand what has happened and she lives a long way from here. Can someone give me a play by play to restore her HP Printer? In the control panel it shows two printers one is a PDF and the other is her HP. The HP shows "Not Ready". It has been too long for me and I don't have an XP machine here at the house to look at. I just thought I could have her delete the PDF printer but everytime she prints her Avon stuff, it will probably happen again. She says she has tried to print numerous things today and they just keep going to a queue.

Thanks,
Andy

Having moved a bunch of shared printers from one server to another, I need to change the local printer paths on all workstations - is this something that can be done at a command line, and therefore scripted and placed into a batch file/login script?

I rather think it's going to have to be done with something like VBScript or WSH (about which I know nothing!) but if anyone has any ideas, I'd be pleased to hear them.

Thanks.

Hello,

My printer worked fine up until a few days ago. It is an HP B210a setup over the network with it's own IP address. My roommate started printing on it without asking me. He said it was an "accident" but I'm not sure how that could be the case. Anyways, I tried searching for a solution, like a password and in my haste I changed the permissions without thinking first. I made ChaCha(admin), me, have full permission and denied everyone else. Boom, printer no longer showed up in devices and printers. Spent all day yesterday installing and uninstalling the drivers. Used HP's troubleshooting utilities to no avail. When my roommate came home and turned on his computer a few days later, the print jobs I had sent started printing through his computer. He removed the device from his computer but that didn't help either.

The printer shows up under Device Manager>Imaging Devices but not under Devices and Printers. HP's diagnostic utility comes up with 2 errors, the first is that the driver is conflicting which makes no sense since I am downloading the driver straight from their website, using their software, and two it shows the printer as offline. I've used the recommended software etc., to try to do a fresh install. The printer shows up when you go to print something but as offline. Did my roommate hijack my printer or did I mess up by changing the permissions to only me. Why, as the admin, can I not see/communicate with my printer? Is there a way to set the permiss... You need to provide more details about your printer issues.

Why hasn't Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 been upgraded to Service Pack 2 which was released in May 2009?

You're using that computer with a very outdated operating system.

It will print if I use F8 and use Command Prompt Only.
It will print using dir >>lpt1 in a Dos Prompt window

I have a netgear router from comcast and I have my printer running through it. My wife has a laptop and it uses the same router. Her computer is connected to the internet and prints perfectly. My desktop is connected to the internet with no problem but all of a sudden I can not print. I printed yesterday with no problem. I have restarted everything and I hooked up a new ethernet cable from the router to the printer - no luck. Comcast is less than helpful and wants me to pay for troubleshooting on their router. Any ideas what happened?

I have had my printer for about 2 1/2 years and it has been great until about 2 weeks ago. I can make copies but if I try to print from my computer it gets to 55% and then stops and it doesn't print. At the beginning of September it was printing fine, but for the past two weeks I can not get it to print anything. I have tried updating, uninstalling and reinstalling, and restarting the computer, even took it for a long truck ride home to consult with my mom and it still didn't help. Can please help me? I am a college student who has a lot of homework and papers to print and really need my printer to be working.

Thanks,
Katie

I have the HP 5550, and I also have a Lexmark printer. The Lexmark prints OK. When I try to make a file print to the HP, it tells me THE FILE DID NOT PRINT, and it put it in a holding file. What have I done so far?

I have disconnected the HP, and removed the HP software that was in the computer. I put
in the CD that came with the printer, and I plug in the computer when told to do so. I go thru the start-up process as requested by the CD, locating this printer at LPT1.
It works mechanically on start up with the print heads moving and returning to the proper place.

I thought the CD might have been corrupted, so I got another, but the same sequence happens again.

You mention you have 2 printers how are they physically hooked up to the PC? You mention LPT1 are both hooked up via parallel port? Is one LPT and one USB?

I added a printer,it seems that the printer works and the software is on the computer but nothing prints. I bought a Belkin USB parallel printer adapter cable and it says to update the USB software. Any ideas on how to do this? I have windows XP and an Epson Stylus Color 850 printer. I been unable to find the software

A:My printer don't print.

I assume that your printer has a LPT port only and that you want to convert it to a USB port? If your computer has an LPT port on it then I suggest that you try and get it running with that first. Then put the LPT to USB cable in, install the drivers for that cable, and give it another go.

My printer won't print any documents on my pc.I know its working as i have tried it on my lab top. I have uninstalled my print driver reinstalled and updated. In the document window the print status is that it is printing but nothing happens. My printer is online. I have rebooted, disconnected, checked cables and nothing works. I have also reinstalled the port even though it said there were no conflicts and it was working properly (although had a previous drive problem with my cd drive when the computer said it was working properly when it was'nt, when i replaced the cd drive with a new one it worked). Can my cmputer tell me my port is working when it is'nt, how can i check this?

Please advise

Yes it can.

How is the printer connected to the PC? When you install the drivers/software, does the installation complete properly?

Grandma -

When you attempt to print, what is the name of the printer that comes up in the printer dialog box?

Is it Microsoft XPs Document writer?

If so, check in your Devices and Printers app from the start menu or control panel. If you see a green check box next to the XPS printer, than that has been set as your default. Right click the picture of the printer you want to use and select "Set as default printer".

Hopefully this is a stupid question and it's easy to answer, but for some reason my printer won't print. It is a "Lexmark Z43". The power light on is constantly blinking and I don't know why, and that may be the problem. And even when I unplug and plug back in the printer, it goes back to blinking and I cannot turn it off.

This may be part of the problem for it not printing. The printer is connected properly and everything, and I've tried every other port, and still, it doesn't do anything. Can anybody please give me a suggestion on what to do to solve this problem? Thanks!

A:My printer won't print!

I've only ever had HPs, but if there are two buttons on your printer, press the one that isn't the power button.

Perhaps you should consult the manual?

Hi

I've spent the last 3 hours trying to get a brand new Epson SX515W all-in-one ink jet to print wirelessly from a Win 7 64 bit PC on my network at home.

Printer installation prompted me to download 64bit drivers from Epson, which I did and have installed.

Installation completed without any warnings but I can not get the printer to print wirelessly from the Win7 PC via my D-Link ADSL router. I can't even get it to produce a test print and in the network map the line between the printer and the wireless network SSID is shown as a broken line.

However, The printer is being recognised in the router management console as a connected DHCP client with the expected automatically assigned IP address and I can ping the printer from the Win 7 machine. The wi-fi LED on the printer is on.

I can connect to the printer wirelessly using Epson Net Config and any settings are transmitted to the printer and are included in the network settings test print so the wi-fi connection appears to be working. I have even changed the Workgroup name to the correct non default one in case this is a reason for it not to be recognised.

The printer works fine using the same driver when connected directly to the Win 7 Pc via a USB cable so I'm fairly sure it's not a driver problem.

What I also do not understand is that although I can't print, I can scan when the machine is connected wirelessly, but only using the basic scanner interface, not Epson Scan, which is only available... Read more
