Ideapad Y510P RAM Upgrade

Q: Ideapad Y510P RAM Upgrade

Hello, for professional purposes I plan to upgrade the existing 8gbof available RAM on my laptop to 12gb or 16gb, depending on price range. I know next to zero about RAM consideration for optimal compability/performance. I uploaded two images of the currently installed RAM cards. There are still 2 slots available, could someone point me to recommended/compatible RAM cards? (If I can order it from amazon, the better). Thank you for the support.?

A:Lenovo Ideapad y510p - memory upgrade

They're RAM sticks, not cards, and they're fairly easy to change out. I would suggest looking for something in the 1866mhz speed, though I think you need lower voltage memory. So I'd get something 1.35v or lower.

Hello, I only found out after purchasing the Y510P laptop that it for some strange reason does not support 5Ghz networks, only 2.4Ghz. This results in me having insanely slow connection every single night around peak hours (7-11pm), and I'm unable to do anything like watching movies, playing games or download stuff. Does anyone know exactly how to upgrade the wireless card on this laptop so it supports 5Ghz networks? Do I have to go out and buy another wireless card, or is it software upgrades like drivers only? I'm not a computer major so a walkthrough would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello guys,  I bought my Lenovo y510p for months ago, tried with several SLI games to run those. They all crash, and returns the screendriver has stopped working. I have the y510p with GT 755m sli. Any solution for this?? If I run without SLI all is working good.

Have you updated your video card drivers with the latest drivers from the Nvidia website?  Have you monitored your GPU temperatures to see if either of your GPUs are overheating?  You can try using GPU-Z to monitor your GPUs while gaming.

Hello.I am the owner Lenovo IdaePad y510p Intel i5 4200m.Not so long ago I bought a i7 processor 4810MQ.Both the i5 4200m and i7 4810MQ work on the Socket G3 also known as RPG 946B/947 or FCPGA 946 but with the difference that the intel i5 4200m has a TDP of 37W and Intel i7 4810MQ has a TDP of 57W.So after update the BIOS to version 3.08 willingly I took up the replacement processor. To my surprise, after an exchange with i5 to i7 4200m 4810MQ laptop will not turn on, for a short time (1 to 3 seconds) shone on the white button "power" but immediately afterwards extinguished.I suspect that it is a voltage input to the processor, but the BIOS is not possible because the feature voltage change is not visible / hidden. I hit it on:https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/3546-lenovo-y410p-y510p-unlocked-bios-wlan-white...but it seems to me such output last resort, and I wanted to ask what to do now.I do not want to believe that the 300W power supply does not could handle the additional 20W per processor. What to do in my Lenovo IdeaPad y510p to use Intel i7 4810MQ?I'm sorry for his handling of English who constantly grind. Thanks!!!

If you mean the factory recovery files try Lenovo for a recovery disc set if available. If you mean for the OS alone just download the MEDIA CREATION TOOL from microsoft which you will use to download the OS installer. As to drivers go to the download site for your unit to download them.

I have a lenovo ideapad y510p and everything was fine until for I thought I'd do the battery reset in the lenovo energy management,at first the battery was dead and laptop wouldnt turn on,,I found one way around this which is that first I take the battery out and then insert the ac adapter, the laptop turns on then I put it in hibernate while I insert battery after which it seems to charge but only after I do these steps, but if I take the adapter out and insert it back in,it would stop charging.this is all because of the lenovo energy management software battery reset.I've uninstalled it but it doesnt work.any suggestions?I'm guessing one of the steps after full charge during the battery reset the battery gets drained where it says "plugged in and not charging" until it reaches zero is the problem.

I recently updated my Lenono Ideapad Y510P to Windows 10, and after a couple of weeks, I started having this wierd problem with my sound. For some reasons, I always had 2 sound outputs, 1 actually being my speaker, and the other being a random "fictional" speaker. However the fictional speaker was set as default to play some of programs, for an example Counter Strike, which resulted in me not being able to hear what was going on in CS. I tried to deactive the "fictional" speaker in the playback options, but for some reason I couldn't deactive it .. So of course, I uninstalled my drivers, and tried reinstalling. However, my big problem now is, I can't install the driver again. I tried both downloading the driver from your website, downloading the Realtek Audio Driver specifically for my computer (however it was for Windows 8.1, no newer version), and I tried downloading the driver from Realteks own website for Windows 10. Both did in fact start the installation, but after saying "You need to restart in order for the driver to work (or something like that)", nothing happened. I didn't have the driver, nor the Realtek program and worst of all, my sound still isen't working .. Is this a virus, or am I just missing something really important? I hope someone's able to help me! And i hope I posted this in the right forum, if not, someone please move it to the right one

From about 3 weeks ago, my Lenovo Y510p (GT 750M Sli, purchased in 2013) started to make this weird grinding/buzzing sound at random times on the CPU side of the fan. It was barely noticeable if I had headphones on at first, but starting from the second week the noise and vibration of it grew louder. After doing some research for possible fixes, I have tried the method openining Energy Management and running the Dust Removal feature to temporary solve the problem. However, that method only worked for about a week, and starting from the third week the buzzing remains very consistent even after I run Dust Removal several times. Does anyone here know what is the problem exactly? I know for other models, people have been able to solve the problem by updating their BIO driver provided by the website. But all Y510p users seen to have that problem early enough to just get a refund or send it back for exchange/repairment using their then still active warranty. I would like to know if there's any way that I can fix this without having to spend money for the fix when it is proven it is the company side issue since even fresh new purchases of the same model ran into the same exact problem within days.

Hello.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p and it has erratic BSOD behavior, usually after sleep mode, but not always. Would love to get to the bottom of it and appreciate any help you can provide!

I've attached the necessary file as per the BSOD posting instructions.

Thanks,
Alexander

A:BSOD on Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p, after sleep mode usually

Only 48 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 60 to 80 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available.

The memory dumps blame usbccgp.sys, but MSINFO32 lists ks.sys (kernel streaming of video driver)
And this seems to happen during a power down event (such as power off/hibernate/sleep/etc)

Finally, what applications do you delay using Startup Delayer?
What USB devices do you have connected?

I'm concerned about your version of Diskkeeper as it dates from Jan 2013 - well before Win8.1 was released.
Can you update it? If not, please uninstall it while we're troubleshooting.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

You may not find an update for this one, if so, just leave it be:

This has been an exhausting day! I've been trying to figure this out for quite awhile.

To start, I'll post some information.

My webcam was working fine yesterday! I tried doing a system reboot to the the week before that and alas the issue prevailed. My internal webcam is not being registered by my laptop!

So the solution that seemed obvious enough was to check my drivers, update them if necessary. Which I ended up doing. Alas, the issue prevailed.

Checking the device status, I received the error "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." The device is currently registered as 'Unknown device' as I uninstalled the driver. I was receiving the same error when I did have the original drivers though.
Looking up what the error means, it meant that the device was disconnected. I'm not entirely sure how this could happen though with an internal laptop. I also need to get a new copy of the drivers (Which don't seem to be registering the device upon installation).

Anyway any help would be appreciated as this has become a huge headache for me, and i just want to skype with my friend!

A:Need help with internal webcam drivers for Lenovo Ideapad y510p.

It might be that the webcam has failed if everything else has been tried.you can take it somewhere and have it looked at but im not even sure they can be fixed when they go. it might be cheaper just to get an external webcam such as a logitech.

Hi,  My ~3 year old ideapad purchased from Newegg seems to have gone south. I have Windows 8.1 installed. Last night I shut it off to bring it to class and when I got to class and tried to boot up, it wouldn't finish starting up, would sit at the logo screen for about 30 seconds before shutting down and starting over. The fans power up like it is going to start. It repeats this loop indefinitely. I tried holding the reset button next to the charger port and still nothing.  Suggestions?  Thanks

Hey, I know there are already a few topics with the same subject, however none have the exact same situation as mine as most are US based. I too have a powerful Lenovo Y510P SLI with a Intel Centrino N2230 wifi card. I am buying a new router for my student room and since I want to buy things that can last for a few years, opted for a wifi AC router (probably an Asus one). But, this laptop won't support it... I looked in the technical maintaince manual to find which wifi cards are supported for the Y510P, there is one Wifi AC card for the Y410P, but according to various posts will also work in the Y510P as they share the same BIOS whitelist. I don't want to flash the BIOS with a custom modded one which removes the whitelist. (I flashed a desktop Asus motherboard to run OSX, went great, runs well, but I can't experiment with this laptop, need it for university.). So I Googled and Ebayed the partnumer and this one came up: Ebay Link, which says "Only for Lenovo/IBM laptops such as Y510P" should be fine right? Only thing is it is 40 USD, Dutch customs will charge 21% on top of it so that makes 48 USD, and the Dutch postal office will charge anywhere between 15-20 USD for paperwork for importing goods. So that makes an total of 68 USD... so that almost doubles the cost of the upgrade...  I used the FRU number for this card: WLAN, WiFi AC+BT4.0, Ltn BCM4352+20702 2x2AC+BT4.0 HMC which is 20200381, and put in the search engine in the "part number" ... Further I started to get random BSOD's always  giving new driver errors. So finally switched back to Win 8.1.Does anyone has a workaround for this so that I can upgrade to Win 10, as I think 31 July is the last date  for upgrading to Win 10 from Win 8.1, or stick with Win 8..1.Appreciate any help regarding this.

I purchased my Y510P back in Q2 2014, it was already on Win 8 when I purchased it. Everything was working fine even after the  SLI issue with  Win 8.1 which was fixed through a BIOS update that was available here in their product support page. During that time I worked more on other things and didnt really notice anything about the GPU and its update. I was able to update my laptop to Win 10 (back in Q4 2015) and I'm currently unsure if it already installed the anniversary update. Recently, I tried some few games and noticed that the second GPU seems not be working during any games I've launched. I ran Unigine Heaven Benchmark and seems that the SLI is detected, checked the device manager both hardwares are detected, and updated to the latest GPU driver. But still seems to be not working. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hopefully this'll help some people thinking of upgrading . NOTE: Some people are having issues with wireless cards after upgrading. I'm not sure of solution yet, but I would recommend predownloading the Windows 10 drivers from Intel's website before the upgrade. - So far drivers have not solved issue. Not sure of solution yet. Everything went smoothly for me. All fiels, programs, drivers, and settings transferred from my Windows 7 install to Windows 10 (and also from 8.1 to 10 on my Dell, so I assum it'll work on a Lenovo too). Upgrade process was painless and took about 20 minutes. Only temporary issue was video drivers, but that got solved later. Make sure you check for updates in Windows Update right after you upgrade; there's a day one patch they put out and it fixes quite alot of bugs (1GB of them actually). This fixed any driver issues I had and made my screen resolution normal, as it was previously running 800x600 or something, so don't freak out if your screen look weird at first. It automatically changes your default programs though, so if you use Chrome or Firefox you'll need to change it back to that from the new Edge browser. Otherwise, most settings were imported. So far I have found nothing that is incompatible with Windows 10 on my computer; however, beware that you will need to reinstall your anti-virus when Windows prompts you, as it is uninstalled prior to the upgrade. Doesn't cause any issues though and your computer is not at risk ... Read more

As of now, I will prefer to stay with Win 8.1 due to several mods ( i have applied) and the stability that it has for playing games.

Hello, I'm new to Lenovo and I'm about to buy one of the Y510P (59373392) with single graphics and the 1TB version. The last question I've got is whether it is possible to install an additional SSD via the DVD slot-in. I don't need the DVD drive, so it would be wonderful to install a 128GB or 256GB SSD. I've read some topics and saw that the motherboard doesn't have a mSATA connection but it must have a NGFF connection if I'm right. Since I'm not very experienced with laptops, here are a few more questions 1) If it is possible to install an additional SSD, what products are available?2) Where do I get the UltraBay adapter?3) Would it then be possible to make the SSD the bootable drive? Thanks in advance!

http://hddcaddy.com/en/lenovo-ibm-hdd-caddy/432-lenovo-ideapad-y510p-hdd-caddy.html

But the SSD you can use here is a 2.5 SSD not the msata one.
  this kind :
       http://www.crucial.com/store/ssd.aspx

ODD can be set as primary boot and should be able to boot windows from it.
BIOS has to be set to legacy.

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

I'm just wondering if it's possible. I've been told by some people that you can't change that stuff on Laptops. The current specs have my Display Driver crashing no matter which one I use(Please don't try to tell me how to fix this issue because I'm past the point of trying). So I'm trying to figure out if I can upgrade my CPU, thanks!

Hi, I am going to buy a used Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 15.6". The modelnr is 80NV00JWMX It has the following spesifications: Intel Core i5-6300HQ, Nvidia GTX 960M 2GB, 8 GB DDR4 RAM, 1 TB HDD (maybe a 8 GB flash drive). I have never owned a Lenovo, just several other brands. Will it be possible to upgrade this model with a SSD, and still have the 1 TB HDD? I am thinking of a M.2 Solid State Drive.  I am going to pick up the Lenovo later today. I just wanted to clarify this before I am picking it up.

Hello All, I have just bought Ideapad 300S-14ISK last month. It came with 4GB RAM only and I found it way too slow even for simple task like browsing the web using a few Firefox tabs. I am thinking to upgrade the RAM to 16 GB to get a better performance. Using CPU-Z tool, I found that my notebooks has Samsung 4 GB DDR3L 1600Mhz single rank unbuffered non-ECC module with CAS Latency 11-11-11-28.  At the moment, I am interested in getting RAM from Corsair 16 GB kit (2 x 8 GB). They have at least two products:- Value Select, with CAS Latency 11-11-11-28- Vengeance, with CAS Latency 9-9-9-24 My question is, can I use the Corsair Vengeance in Ideapad 300? Will it run and able to take the benefit of using high performance memory modules?

Does anyone know if the Intel 7260HMW 802.11ac mPCI-e card is on the whitelist for the u530. Information on this isn't just scarce... it's nonexistent. I bought this laptop with the intention of upgrading the network card and had never heard of this "whitelist" thing before until I started actively researching the process. Anyway, my system has the 7260bgn 802.11n card. It's an okay card, but I'd like to be able to upgrade eventually. Hopefully Lenovo has tested the ac version of this card already and put it on the whitelist. Does anyone know?

A:IdeaPad u530 upgrade to 802.11ac

Even though the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 isn't on the whitelist, you can purchase the Lenovo version of the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC with the FRU P/N: 04W3814 Here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-wireless-AC-7260-7260HMW-wifi-bluetooth-4-0-adapter-Lenovo-04W3814-/19...You might have a better chance of getting that card to work. No need to waste time buying the generic 7260.HMW since it won't work.

AGHammer wrote:Hey guys, Would anyone know if I can upgrade my laptop with dual 8 gb rams with 1600 mhz speed (G.Skill 2x8GB DDR3 1600Mhz SODIMM). Help would be appreciated! Thank youOne thing I'm sure of is that the memory will be dictated by the processor installed. Since you have not indicated the processor used I can't give you much detail. If you base it only on the specs you can only use 2 sticks or module with a max rating of 1333 Mhz each depending on the processor. As to the other specs details you have to locate the specs of the processor that you are using in the intel site. There you will know whether you can use 1600 Mhz plus other details. One thing for sure is that the max that you can use is 16 GB only if the processor allows it since you can't find a 16 GB module in the market to achieve 32 GB per processor spec.

A:Options to upgrade IdeaPad 700 battery?

Hi Lazy,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

As per the datasheet, your laptop comes with 4 Cell 60 WHr. The IdeaPad Y700 (Y700-15ISK) has 5 hours of battery life. This laptop has great battery life by gaming laptop standards. However, do not expect it to last a good portion of the day without having to be plugged in.The laptop is compactible to replace battery if it Lenovo battery from 4 cell to 6 cell.

Hi, I bought the Idepad Z710 model with 16 gb of ram (default) and the seller told me that the notebook has 4 memory slots ram and upgrade is possible up to 32gb. I install and run the CPU-Z program to collect hardware information and the program confirmed that the laptop has 4 slots. I opened the notebook but I identified only 2 slots for memory ram. I wonder if the laptop really has 4 memory slots ram and upgrade to 32GB is possible. Additional information: the CPU is the Intel I7 47700MQ. Thanks in advance!

Good Evening,I've reviewed the previous threads and have not seen a concise answer to this question; which m.2 SSDs are compatable with the Y700-14ISK Lenovo Ideapad? I've got the stock 5400 500GB HDD in there now and am keen on upgrading it right away with an SSD in either 2.5" or m.2 configuration.I've referenced the HMM and am torn between either going to the Samsung Evo 850 (Sata III) or the Samsung SM951 (PCIe) based. Been reading about the pros and cons of going from PM851 to SM951 and the cost difference, and performance difference, sounds impressive. Would really appreciate some guidance if any prior customers have successfully installed either of these m.2 models in their Y700-14ISK ideapads and if it's difficult to clone the existing HDD to the blank m.2 (remember, this version of the Y700-14ISK does not have an optical drive). Many thanks for your time and consideration,Mongoose

I have a lenovo ideapad y500 with a 1366x768 screen, and I am looking to pop open the screen, and replace the panel with a 1920x1080 screen. Assuming that I purchase another 15.6 inch screen (size of the original screen), is this possible? A model of the y500 is sold with a 1080p display, and the graphics card in my model is more than capable of outputting such a resolution. I was just wondering if there is a chance that the connections between my laptop and new screen would not match as I do not know if there is some sort of standard port with screens. Thanks!

A:Screen upgrade lenovo ideapad y500

You would need to find out the exact model of the 1080p screen was that was sold with that model and order the same one or compatible replacement model. Laptop screens are not universally interchangeable and you can't just buy any screen and connect it.

Hello everybody! I am interested in buying the new Gaming Laptop Lenovo ideapad Y700-15ACZ in the TOP version with FX-8800P and 4GB R9-M385X. As I have seen, first offers come only having the 1TB WD slim hdd. So time to find out which will be the best M.2 SSD to add nearby. For this need to clarify first if the M.2 port is connected to the SATA III of the FX-8800P's internal southbridge only or if it has connection to PCIe lanes. The HMM https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_y700-15acz_hmm_201508.pdf tells on page 26 there is PCI Express Gen3 and SATA Gen3. For the hdd is written SATA III as note and for the ssd it is NGFF which means the same like you write M.2, so it is unclear. Btw - there are NO DDR4 ports on that model yet. On page 64 you find some oem M.2 ssd models that Lenovo offers to add. Those are SATA3 models like LiteOn CV-1 and Samsung PM871 with keys for "B+M". But this also doesn't mean anything more than might be badder choices. Have a look at the mainboard on page 48. You can see that the M.2 connector has only key M (right side) which means PCIe 3.0 (cpu) + SATA whereas key B (left side) would mean PCIe 2.0 (southbridge) + SATA. That M key port would allow to put in ssd cards like the Samsung SM951MZ-HPV (AHCI) model which might be the fastest using AHCI+PCIe or even the newest model Samsung SSD 950 pro which uses PCIe 3.0+NVMe only. But if there exists only a SATA III connection, the key should be "B only" instea... Read more

Hello everyone, posting this here as well just in case...So just the other day I (finally) upgraded my Lenovo Ideapad Z510 from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. So far, I'm pretty happy about it, so I'm definitely not regretting it, but there is one thing that it's starting to frustrate me. Basically, when the computer is idle, the screen doesn't turn off after the set amount of time (I have it at 5 minutes on battery, 10 minutes if connected to the AC charger), and the laptop doesn't go to sleep either (it should do so after 10 minutes on battery, 30 minutes with the AC charger). It's really annoying, and I can't figure out why. I have tried to change the settings, disable apps and programs and such, but nothing has solved the problem so far. After looking it up on google, I read about people who had this issue and apparently it was caused by some USB gaming controller connected to the computer. I have no such thing though, the only USB device I have plugged in is my wireless mouse (Logitech). I did try to remove it in case that was the problem, but unfortunately nothing changed: when inactive, the computer still doesn't turn off the screen nor it goes to sleep. I have noticed that if I leave it idle for a while, say 1 or 2 minutes, at one point the brightness decreases slightly for, like, less than a second, and then it goes back to normal, as if someone touched the mouse to "wake up" the laptop (but clearly no one touched anything). Did this ha... The reason the memory slots are not mentioned in the manual is because there are no memory slots available.  The Ideapad 100s product line comes with the memory soldered directly to the motherboard so it is not socketed and can not be upgraded.  Sorry!

So i've never really had any problems with my Ideapead, until I noticed during some applications (mostly gaming) the memory is getting absolutely rinsed. This is when I noticed I was only running the standard 8gb memory (in the form of two seperate 4gb boards). I then replaced the two standard boards with two seperate 8gb each boards that I had lying around. Compatability wise I assume they should work as they are both DDR3, but after installation the laptop absolutely refuses to boot any further than the Lenovo splash screen. After putting the old memory back in it all goes back to working normally. Ok, I realize that Windows 10 is not supported on this laptop at the moment.  The question I have is WILL it eventually be supported?  Will there be new drivers for the intermittent wifi issue?   As of now, I'm using the last driver that Lenovo published for the Broadcom 802.11n.  It's version 6.30.223.256 I recall there was a similar issue when Windows went from 8 to 8.1 and then it was resolved.   Any help with keeping my wifi consistently connected would be greatly appreciated.  Are there any 3rd party drivers that might work? The rest of Windows 10 seems to be working well and I'd hate to roll back to 8.1 only to lose the new system if new drivers/solutions are going to be offered.

Hi

I got a 2nd hand Lenovo Ideapad 100S. It came with Win10 installed but had someone elses profile and data.
(I am not sure if it originally had Win8.1 when it was shipped, there is no rollback option anymore)

My preference is to wipe the current installation completely by downloading Win10 and installing a clean copy off USB.

I also usually prefer to delete all partitions, including recovery because future reinstallations can be done from scratch via USB. (I don't need the option of reinstalling from recovery partitions , the extra space is more important)

I see a warning in the user guide however .....
"Do not delete or modify the Recovery Partition on a WIMBoot-enabled computer. If the Recovery Partition is deleted or modified, you may not be able to restore Windows to the factory status. For computer models on which WIMBoot is enabled, deleting the Recovery Partition may cause Windows to fail to start. How can I determine whether the Windows running on my computer is WIMBoot enabled? WIMBoot technology is normally enabled on copies of Windows 10 Update running on SSD (or eMMC) -only computer models."

What is the best way to do this?

Install a clean copy and remove the partition by booting off a USB, or should I not do this?

settings > Recovery > advanced startup > Reinstall from USB

A:Ideapad 100s - Win10 clean installation on ideapad...

 Hi larrens ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It's a good thing you posted first before proceeding with any clean installation.
Not sure what the Machine Number is to verify the details and specifications of your system.

But if you have a pc with a Windows Image Boot (or WIMBoot) you may not want to choose a clean installation.
This new deployment of installation is compressing part of a big OS file so that you can have an operating system that can only take small spaces intended for small storages (SSD).

Best option to wipe out previous owners profile is a have a fresh out of the box image is using the Puch button Factory reset (Novo key similar to Item 7 page 1). Simply shutdown the system and use the button to turn on, System Recovery option would provide One key recovery from initial backup to do it.

WIM boot are usually created thru OEM depot authorized by Microsoft . DIY for WIMboot maybe a bit complicated.

Hope this answered your query.

I installed Windows 10 last year and had to uninstall it due to wi-fi connectivity dropping.   Searching the internet, this seemed to be a frequent problem and Lenova did not support Windows 10 for the Y510P and did not provide drivers. I really liked windows 10 and would love to go back to it.    Is anyone running it, and how did you resolve the wi-fi connectivity issue?    I see on the Lenova Website they still don't list Windows 10 for this model.    Too bad.  Makes me really dislike Lenova products when they don't support OS upgrades.

So, my y510p is having really anoying problem.  Sometimes computer works fine (really rarely) but usually it just doesnt start. I need to press powerbutton atleast 50 times until it finally start, and when it starts the screen is just blinking black and keys are blinking too, the problem becoming more general when it gets "cold" (Cold = normal indoor temperature 22 celsius) it also takes ages to get windows screen I have already visited warranty with my laptop and it was there 1.5 months, and they changed keyboard (why?!?!) and send it back, they said that they run some tests without any problems. Then i got my computer back, NOTHING CHANGED, same problems and all, what should i do?!  I have already soft-reseted, reseted bios and reseted whole system, nothing works!  Could you please be in touch with the store i bought it from, because I want my money back for not-working laptop worth 1200e in my country. They said that i need to send my computer back to warranty, for another 1.5 month journey (what is over what they promised, they said 10-15 workdays)  PLEASE HELP ME! anything but not another warranty trip! I also have very good video of the problem if you want me to send it to you.  My model is the one with 750M and 24gb ssd cache.

A:Overclocking GPU and CPU in y510p

If you use the Intel Xtreme Tuning utility you can adjust the multipliers but that is all. The CPU already runs way to hot (and throttles as a result) so overclocking it will only make it worse. I did the opposite and undervolted mine so not only does it run cooler but it doesn't throttle anymore so it actually runs faster then a stock one.

Hi Mustafa_mah  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the machine number ? Check on the machine number from the sticker or check it from here ,just keep your serial number confidential.

The same Parts look up page would also gave you the parts listing. Reference guide on disassembly on page 59 of the hardware manual similar to page 86 item 5.

5 VIQY1 Thermal Module(Y510p) part number 90202747

Using the part number may be able to help you search with the compatible parts as also indicated on the look up page by calling tech support and have you transffered to the parts sales department. This article discuss options to purchase FRU parts including quickpick option  or  other third party resellers .

Hello, My Lenovo (end 2013 model) is dead. When I push the power button, nothing happens. I have checked the power supply - it is OK. Black screen, nothing happens. I have tried to connet to external screen. Nothing.Since I have seen that there are many postings regarding similar issue, is there a Lenovo action to fix this?

Okay here are the details:Windows 10 HomeIdeapad Y510P, only a few years oldworks perfectly finebattery at 0%, plugged-in not chargingoriginal battery and power cordsI can't remember how to get this message to pop up again, but I remember it saying something along the lines of 'Lenovo does not support batteries they didn't make so we are going to pretend you don't have one in'. I have the same battery and charger that came with the computer. I've tried messing with the settings and taking the battery out and putting it back in. I've been to the BIOs screen and looked around. I've searched through forms and everything. I'm about to just buy a new battery for it and see if that fixes it. But I'd like to know what happened so I can prevent it from happening again. Did the battery just get too old and decide to die on me? It's been very frustrating.

My battery keeps jumping from 40% to 7% within a matter of minutes. I tried resetting my battery but the battery won't go to 100% charged to be able to reset it (it only charges to 99%). How do I fix my batter if I cannot fully charge the battery and then fully discharge the battery?

My Lenovo Y510p isnt working, Im on my phone but ill show a video of whats happenning: https://youtu.be/d1nhfJ3PUZ0So my laptop will only turn on for a few seconds before shutting back off and then trying tobshut back off. I cant go into bios, it still crashes after a few seconds. Also a weird thing is itll be stuck in that restarting loop until i plug my charger in and then it just wont turn on at all? It first happened a few months ago but i took it to the shop and they said i was working just fine. Worked for another month, and then did it again, and then it lasted yet another month now doing thia again. The same thing every time. I had it worling yesterday, somehow it just started spontaneously working, and then after shutting it off today it started to loop again. I dont know whats wrong with it??

Hey Guys,  I am lost. I got my new GT750m5, removed the DVD, added the new card and nothing. I tried reinstalling the Nvidia drivers and nothing. IT doesn't even show up in the device manager. I even have the new 170w power adapter plugged in and the power management set to performance. Any ideas?  I also tried uninstalling the Intel display driver, then the Nvidia display driver and then I tried just installing the Nvidia driver (both the provided lenovo Nvidia driver and the newest 331.65). I keep getting errors about needing an intel driver installed first. Suggestions?

Found a possible fix (workaraound) of the famous screen flicker problem. I've tried all of the proposed fixes found anywhere on the web and nothing worked for more than 5 minutes. I also sent it to be serviced, came back even worse. The screen would go crazy when showing high contrast images with a lot of black. The flicker was most prominent when testing the pixel-walk(inversion) on this website:http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/inversion.phpIf you have the same problem, try applying pressure on the LCD frame in one of the corners. In my case the flicker went away. I put a piece of fabric between the plastic and the metal LCD frame and after some fiddling I managed to find a sweet spot with no flicker. My laptop is y510p with 755M SLI and FullHD screen.Try at your own risk!Cheers

A:y510p screen flicker FIX!

Ok, I have an update. The flickering can be fixed with a bit of DIY. There's a band cable attaching the display circuit to the metal frame holding the LCD. This band is glued with some sort of conductive glue that goes bad over time, messing up the electronics somehow, I guess preventing the capacitors from discharging properly, dunno.Try and make your own conductive band, I made mine using aluminum tape, it works very well. No flicker noticeable for over a week.Once again, try at your own risk.

I have a Lenovo Y510p. My warranty expired over a year ago, but my screen recently broke. I've tried to repair it myself, but it still won't display properly. Every time I call Lenovo I get a message to "schedule a callback," and every time I go to schedule a callback the web site tells me I'm out of warranty and won't allow me to schedule a callback. Is there a way I can schedule a repair through Lenovo?

I have seen this laptop getting around 250fps in most of the maps in CS GO, but still I am getting only 124fps in every map with low settings. Can any of you guys suggest any tips to correct this?  Thanks in advance  EDIT: Does installing the OS on the 24 GB SSD affect the gaming performance in any way? My SSD got damaged and there is no SSD in it currently. The is only the HDD.

Power cycling is the best way I can describe it. Approximately once a day, my y510p will power cycle all of its USB ports simultaneously, this is the two USB 3.0 ports as well as the USB 2.0 port (which makes things even stranger considering they are on separate controllers). I will lose connection to all devices (for me an external hard drive, USB 3.0 dock, and USB 2.0 mouse) and they will all come up again a moment later as just being plugged in. It is not the same time of day each day. My drivers are up to date. This occurred under Windows 8.1 64-bit and Windows 10 64-bit. There is also no correlation to whether there is a lot of data moving through the ports or if they are just idle.

Hello there, I have had my IdeaPad Y510p Laptop - 59369999 for 2 years without any problems, until today.  I started watching a video & everything froze for a good 5 minutes.  I held the power button until my laptop shut down, when I turned it on it said "scanning and repairing drive c". It started up normally, I gave it time, moved the mouse once everything had loaded & it froze again. Then the screen went blank with the cursor working, then the cursor dissappeared. Does anyone know of this is a simple fix? Thank you!

A:Y510P Freezing After Start Up

My guess is that the hard drive is dying.  If it will start, try getting a copy of CrystalDiskInfo (free),  Otherwise, see if you can hook up the drive to another machine to test it and to get as much as you can off of it.

So I have a Lenovo Y510P IdeaPad, I upgraded it to Windows 10 last December and wanted to downgrade it back to Windows 8/8.1 due to some issues that many said are due to the fact that the model doesn't really support Windows 10 thus I experience the problems. However, since it has been more than a month from the upgrade, I can't just roll it back to previous OS and am wondering if there is any way I can find out what my original product key for the pre-activated Windows 8 so I can perform a clean reinstall with it.

A:Y510P - Downgrading to Windows 8/8.1

If windows came pre-installed on your laptop, the key might be on its certificate of authenticity. Alternatively, you can obtain the key using third party softwares like ProduKey. It'll display the currently activated key on your system.

Also I was wondering if I can install a M.2 SSD. My laptop is still in warranty, I didn't open it. If yes, is worthy for daily use to sell my Sandisk ssd for a M2 ssd? Thanks!
