BSOD error when browsing online

Q: BSOD error when browsing online

Hi, I installed a retail version of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on my desktop hard drive about a year ago and it's a dual boot with windows 10. But about the same time that installed the windows I get frequent BSOD errors about every day that I logon to windows. So I really don't know what causes these errors. I pasted my dump files for reference. Please help me if you know what's wrong, thank you..

Hers is a summary of my BSOD error:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x00000116 (0xfffffa800944f010, 0xfffff8800401a1a0, 0xffffffffc0000001, 0x0000000000000003). A dump was saved in: G:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 092616-20872-01.

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
Checkmark the following checkboxes:  List last 10 Event Viewer log  List Installed Programs  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy,  taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.
Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.
After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):
Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot. You will see the following prompt:
Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard
Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

Hello, I have visited this forum many times, however this is my first post. I have never posted to a forum before, so please excuse me if I make an error.

My issue it that I was online browsing Facebook a couple weeks ago when suddenly and with no warning my screen flashed with distorted lines, then went blank, and finally showed me a BSOD error screen with error code 0x0000001E (0x0000000000000010A, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000).

Being as the first time I received a BSOD on this PC (built only 4 months ago), I decided to try rebooting, which worked fine. The next day, the same thing happened again. It randomly occurs without any warning whatsoever and always when I'm online.

I contacted a trusted friend who is knowledgeable about gaming PC's (I am new to gaming PC's and newer PC technology, and he helped me get the parts and build this) and he discovered that the motherboard BIOS version was outdated and couldn't properly run the CPU the way it needed to. I carried out a BIOS update and the computer seemed to run much smoother and the fans were even much quieter. After that was successfully accomplished, I also set up my GPU/APU Crossfire successfully.

Everything seemed OK until a few days after that when I received another BSOD that was totally different than the others. That BSOD Error was 0x000000D1 (0x0000000000000010A, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF88002969OE1)

That second BSOD also said: athrxusb.sys - Address FFFFF... Read more

Hello, I had an old forum which you told me it has been moved to Crashes/BSOD and I have to submit my 2 zip files (SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip + perfmon.zip). I think the errors have to do with Graphic driver or graphic in general, but I'm not sure what exactly my computer does when getting these BSOD errors! So here it is in the attached files. Please tell me if there is anything else you need or I need to do, thank you.

Hello,

Just recently i've been getting a BSOD a few minutes after opening web pages and browsing online.

This only seems to happen i'm online browsing as can play games for hours at a time uninterupted.

it'll take a few minutes to happen with 1st my mouse slowly stuttering to a stop over a few seconds...

Then about after a minute of my desktop being frozen, it'll jump to BSOD saying...

"A clock interrupt was not received on the secondary processor".

I've run my "system mechanic" deep scan and loaded optimized defaults in bios...

Error still happens but not always, hence thankfully being able to do this post.

any assistance / guidance greatly appreciated!!!

Hello Malacai.

Before we suggest anything more, scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs. You need to do it.
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
Windows Defender Offline
Let us know the results. We will go for the further steps after getting those results.

Please see the attached dump file.

PC has had recurring BSOD issues.
All fine after removing AVAST and installing Microsoft Security Essentials.

Tests done: MEMtest 86 (16 passes)
Disk check
Driver Verifier

Tests OK and the Driver Verifier did not bring on a BSOD.

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Code:
MpKslba392ff6 ROOT\LEGACY_MPKSLBA392FF6\0000 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.
This shows a bad install of MSE. I recommend uninstalling and re-install a fresh version: Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Also since you use uTorrent, I would recommend a scan:

Quote:
Do a full scan of your system using: Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Afterwards: Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

If nothing pops up for both of those,

try: Windows Defender Offline

Also possible memory errors. After this please run a RAM - Test with Memtest86+ .

After all these steps are followed, please post back results.

Hello all,

I'm the web dev at a small company, and although I'm not an expert at these sorts of things I'm the go-to person for computer issues. My boss is experiencing a blue screen of death on her HP pavilion 6v6 notebook pc while 'browsing online'.

Here's the info she sent me:

And I've attached the zipped file with the information provided by the diagnostic tool.

Hi i'm new here gotta say nice and organized forum!

Problem started week ago, on windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. screen crashed (black) followed by display driver has crashed and recovered notice while being on the internet chrome/ie/firefox all of them, watching videos either on youtube or mpc.

Did complete re format, upgraded to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit (have 4gb ram).
Got worse, same thing but now followed by BSOD. Doesn't seem to happen when i play games.

Things iv'e tried so far:

- Update graphic drivers to both last stable version and beta, including erasing them completely, using driver sweeper and installing again.
- Uninstalling and getting older version of Flash
- Disable hardware acceleration on flash
- Checked processor temp and graphic card temps everything is normal, nothing overheats, never overclocked

Thanks.

A:Screen tears followed by BSOD playing videos, youtube, online browsing

Hi,

Unfortunately the installation is non-genuine.
The Key is that of an Acer/Gateway/Packard Bell pre-installed computer - and the motherboard is a retail one by Gigabyte.

The best course of action is to:Purchase a legitimate Windows 7 licence.
Format the HDD.
Reinstall Windows and activate.

Hello BeepBoop and welcome to Seven Forums. I will try to help you with your problem, but it won't be easy to figure it out. I have run every one of your dump files and they provided no specific problem. They just cited a generic 0X124 error. That is a generic hardware error and no information was given as to what component it is.

Code:

Hello!

My Dell Inspiron just started giving me some issues this morning. It generated a BSOD error 124 and force closed everything, restarting with the "Windows has encountered an unexpected error" message upon restart. I ran a test on the hard drive, RAM and CPU and everything came back fine, at least according to the tests. HDMonitor is telling me that everything is running in normal temperature limits too.

I haven't had a crash since I was having NVidia driver issues back in December once I put my NVidia GeForce 560Ti into my computer and resolved those crashes by using the 314.22 driver. Nothing bad since then until this morning. I'm at a loss on what might be going on.

I really appreciate any help I can get. Requested logs and files are attached below. My thanks!

Today I got 2 BSOD errors in pretty close succession. I wasnt doing anything out of the ordinary. I had few applications open (notepad++, chrome mainly and some background programs). Normally I would dismiss a BSOD as they dont happen very often, but that fact that this happened twice in a row is making me a bit paranoid.

Im not exactly sure what the first error was, but the details of the second time is below.

Got this laptop 2 weeks ago and have not stopped getting BSOD. I've been trying to use solutions from previous posts from the forum but haven't solved it yet. Ran the RAM test, scanned hard drive and no problem found. Windows Update haven't found any new drivers for my hardware (although I haven't gone to each individual piece of hardware and made sure the drivers are updated. But it's a new laptop, everything should be updated!) No overclocking of any hardware.

Anyone have any idea what's wrong with my laptop?

I've been getting regular BSOD with the same error (0x00000124). Not only while playing games, even when browsing with only one tab open with nothing but Spotify running in the background. Even while I'm sleeping and my computer is idle.

A little history behind this..

After my Zalman ZD1225BTR Cpu fan went to sh*t I was the stuck with the Stock Cooling from Intel which at the time worked fine. I was running BF3 on ultra with no problem.
I started getting problems some time after this with overheating, I realized that and moved past it and set my GPU to default setting (Was OC'ed via Catalyst) and turned of OC Genie (which is the integrated OC in my motherboard) . Now it was just as stable as before.

Then I started getting these 0x124 BSOD's.. Have no idea why or exactly when it started but I'm getting frustrated.

A friend of mine who works at an IT Support office said it was most likely my RAM. Even with my cooling problems..

Speaking of cooling problems..:
1. My CPU is at 66 Celsius degrees while typing this. (Rarely goes below 63 degrees)
2. My GPU is at 50 Celsius degrees, also while typing this.

I'm no expert but I think that the BSOD I have might get more regular if I do not replace the stock cooling on my CPU, which is being resolved within the next 7 days (Corsair H60 Watercooling is on its way)

So really, I just wanted to check with you guys before using alot of money on a computer that might die anyway.

And please, if I have messed up in... Read more

Hi guys,

On the first day I experienced this BSOD issue, it was while gaming. On the 2nd day, I experienced it while playing League of Legends first, and then 2 more times while just using Skype video chat and web browsing. On the second day, it happened 3 times in a span of about 45 mins, all about 20-30 mins after restarting the computer from the previous BSOD.

The error is 0xd1, and driver_irql_not_less_or_equal.

My dump file however, is about 200MB, which apparently is over the 8MB limit on this forum.

Would some kind soul direct me how to get help for this issue ASAP? I'm afraid my computer will permanently fizzle and die if I keep using it and it keeps BSODing.

PS I have to use this laptop for school because it's the only one I have now.

PS I've also just updated my GT650M driver so it's not likely to be caused by that issue.

I've used Bluescreenview to examine some of the crashes, and the common programs between all of these crashes is NETIO.SYS and ntoskrnl.exe.

I also see ndis.sys once and igdkmd64.sys twice throughout these 4 crashes.

Yet again, I'm here with a problem. Not the same that I got when I had avast! antivirus. Today I just uninstalled avast! antivirus, because it made the computer get THREAD STUCK IN DEVICE DRIVER problems. Until now it was disabled. But when I uninstalled AVAST it just started even more problems. When I am loading a game and browsing the internet sometimes I get THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER problems. It is very annoying, because I got a lot of mods for that game, so I watch videos until it loads. When I looked through the BSOD files in BlueScreenView, all the BSODs have the same file error: atikmdag.sys and dxgkrnl.sys Please help.

Also why does VMWare Workstation pro disable my internet? I currently don't have it installed, but when I install I lose my internet connection?

Hello, I just got a BSOD issue this morning around 1PM. That's the first time it happened and it was right as I was watching something on youtube, and I believe it might be related from what I've already read about BSODs and the programs I've run in order to find out where the problem is.

I also know that all of my drivers seem to be updated, and the program "bluescreenviewer" apparently points to the "ntoskrnl.exe" driver as the culprit, though I've read it's unrelated. The same program also mentioned "error 0x00000050", though I have no idea what that means.
Attached with my post are the zip files with the dump file. My computer from france, so I hope it does not make it more difficult to understand the dump file.
I thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,
I ran into three BSODs yesterday. I was not taxing my system very heavily when they occurred (I was doing things like browsing the web and editing word documents, as I described in the subject heading).

I have attached the results of the SF diagnostic tool. I changed my advanced system settings to create minidump files, but I cannot find any of those files.

The BSOD passed very quickly (my settings were set to restart immediately upon a crash), but if I remember correctly, "fltmgr.sys" was listed on the screen.

Here are the Bugcheck values for the crashes that I found using the event viewer (if they are helpful):

A:BSOD while web browsing, error message: fltmgr.sys(?)

Hello James and welcome to Seven Forums.

Fltmgr.sys is a Windows driver and an essential part of the operating system. I'd try restoring your computer to a date/time prior to the first BSOD using a system restore point.

System Restore

Then I'd run a system file checker scan to look for damaged or corrupt system files. Run it from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

For a better analysis of the problem it would really help to have the dump files.

What i do with my pc is usually watching movies, watching streaming, browsing, and playing games.
BSOD sometimes happens while im browsing internet/ streaming /youtubing.
Never BSOD on playing games or watching offline movies.

I use a a program to see the minidump dmp file and ntoskrnl.exe always popping up as the culprit.

BSOD has been happening around 5 times in the span of around 1.5 months.

I attached the zip file below, let me know if you need anymore information.

SUMMARY:
Two nights ago I was playing Dragon Age Origins via Steam when out of nowhere my game froze up, made a buzzing noise, and BSOD (STOP Error 0x00000124). I had to manually restart as it did not do so automatically at the time. After the restart I was unable to reach the desktop as I was constantly hit with the BSOD. I turned off my computer and hoped that everything will be normal in the morning.

In the morning, the problem was still the same but I was at least presented with the option of the Windows Recovery Diagnostic tool. Upon reaching the desktop I discovered that my antivirus, avast! free anti-virus, had been deleted. This was done perhaps by the Windows Recovery tool. I thought everything was fixed, installed avast! Internet Security, and when I was again hit with the BSOD while browsing. Thinking avast! was the culprit I deleted it and tested my theory by playing Dragon Age again. I was able to play for a time, no more than 30 minutes before I was hit with another BSOD. The longest I have been able to play that game has been no more than an hour without error since the problem started.

Currently, I am able to immediately reach the desktop without any problems however the BSOD is still present. While browsing Facebook the other night, watching a Youtube video this morning, and even as recently as signing up to this forum to post this.

Someone had suggested that the problem sounds like my computer is overheating. That may be likely as I used to have my fan se... Read more

The only lead I can find on such a driver is in your start up programs.

I have been receiving a BSOD System_Service_Exception for the past few weeks. I tried to do some troubleshooting on my own, and realized that AVG was clashing with my other AV, so I uninstalled AVG and the crashes became less frequent. Now my computer is acting up again, though the cause must be different as AVG is no longer on my system.

The crash frequently occurs when I am on my web browser, Chrome and Firefox on separate occasions. In fact, my computer suffered a BSOD no more than 40m ago while I was checking my e-mail. The system blames afd.sys on the previous two occasions. I've already spent a lot of time trying to figure it out, and decided it was time to ask for help.

OS: Win7 Professional 64-bit, OEM

Age (hardware): 22months old

Age OS: I have never re-installed, but I have restored to factory settings a few times. The latest restore was completed 6-7 days ago.

I have packaged my system health report, Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2, and my minidump folder (though I think it may be redundant; please let me know if it is).

Thank you for your time.

EDIT: my system health report says that there is my AV isn't detected, and that if I have one installed I should let action center know to stop checking. Action center detect my AV perfectly fine though, so I don't really know what that problem is, and I'm not sure if this information is relevant but I figured I should say something. Thanks again.

Like the title says, I've been getting BSODs with PFN_LIST_CORRUPT error 0x0000004e (0x000000000099). The last one was in ntoskrnl.exe and rassstp.sys (at least that's what is in red in BlueScreenViewer). I have attached the minidump file and the DM Log colletor from the BSOD Posting Instructions. If there is anything else needed please tell me and I'll try to upload it. My system specs are at my profile I think.

BSOD has been happening since I built my pc. Sometimes it happens and BSODS 4x times a day and sometimes it doesn't happen for weeks! I've been doing some research and downloading programs (BlueScreenView, WhoCrashed) -> problem is occuring from ntoskrnl.exe.

I am able to boot and browse and play around on my computer, but it all of sudden crashes. I'd also like to note that I did try "auto overclocking" by using the ASUS AI Suite III, but after doing I undid it, not entirely sure if I did or did not though . Any help is appreciated .

It's been going on since I've had my PC. I had it built with all new parts from someone who I consider trusted (If I can't find a Fix here they will help me).
It happens mainly while playing games, anything from League of Legends to The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.
It seems to happen at random intervals just more often while playing games. It says there is either a hardware or software error, I have yet to copy down everything but I don't think there was an error code.
Seeing as It's happened since I've had the computer (At first I thought it was driver problems but after updating I've realized otherwise). This eliminates the possibility of anything that I can remove physically or uninstall from the PC that may fix it (That I know of).
It didn't happen while under stress tests by who built it for me, if that's of any help.

A:BSOD playing any game, sometimes while browsing. No specific error (?)

Yeah, doesn't seem to happen when the computer is idle. However it does happen while I'm browsing the web or such as earlier when I was about to beat CLOP...
I got the stop code this time 0x00000101 Others were listed in (___) but my pc shut off before I got to record them.

After nearly six hours with Alienware tech support for the past two weeks and a graphic card replacement, the BSOD error 0x00000116 still persists. I'm at a loss and at my wits' end.

Here are my basic system specs:
- Windows 7 x64
- Original OS installed
- An OEM

- I bought the machine last year, January 2011.
- Not sure how to determine the age of my hardware. I bought the machine in January 2011 and reinstalled the OS in the same month.

Also, I'm not sure if it's important to note, but I notice that after a BSOD (0x00000116), the PhysX Confingure in my NVIDIA Control Panel reverts back to a single card (I have dual GeForce GTX 460) and the SLI option is missing. I suspect it is SLI-related, but I could be wrong.

Attached is the zipped file containing the BSOD dump and system health report.

Please help!

Many thanks...

A:BSOD during gaming and internet browsing, error 0x00000116

STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting is worth looking into. I also remember someone else having a similar problem who removed the bridge between the cards. Obviously that is not the best solution as it reduces the performance with having two cards, but it might be worth checking to see if it stops the crashes. Then you could determine if it is the SLI causing the problem.

Hi there,

Lately, i've been receiving a lot of these blue screen errors, especially when browsing the internet (ie YouTube etc.), but not during playing games. Could someone please help me out here? it's driving me crazy.

I've attached multiple dump files, looking at the dump files it seems like ntoskml.exe is being problematic? There is also the occasional nVidia driver issue. I really don't know what to do though.

I have attached the minidump files relevant in the zip.

Please rerun the file collection app as the one that you've uploaded is incomplete (let it run for at least 15 minutes or until the app itself says that it's done): Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

Out of 6 memory dumps there were 5 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers) - and older systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

Your BIOS dates from 2008. I had a laptop with a 2008 BIOS and I spent weeks troubleshooting Windows 8 on it. I even brought it on a trip to Microsoft to get help there. Eventually I had to admit that it just wasn't compatible w/Win8. I downgraded it to Win7 and it's been fine ever since.

I would suggest sticking with Win7 on this system. If you choose to st... Read more

Hello all! I'll try to format this post as best I can since I believe I'll be posting all relevant information. If you want to skip straight to the dump files of system crashes go straight to the bottom of the post.

Detailed Description of Problem(s)

I've gotten alot of BSOD errors lately that I believe stem from drivers due to my frankenrig set-up going on. The most recent errors are: 0x000000c4 (Device driver attempting to corrupt the system), IRQL, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION and one Memory_Pool_Corrupt.

I would often get the SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION BSOD when I was attempting to update my GPU (Nvidia GeForce GT 730) driver before updating any other drivers on a fresh Windows 7 build. After I updated my core computer drivers first, I was able to install my GPU driver with no problem/BSOD.

Then my errors started occurring while playing Rust and World of Warcraft with a variety of different errors. The most prominent being IRQL BSOD message.

Today, however I tried to mass update the remaining drivers and I would consistently get "Device Driver attempting to corrupt the system" BSOD at least twice or three times an hour. I managed to get into Safe Mode and update drivers and my system has been surprisingly docile since I did that. I do plan to run a memtest in a bit while I sleep and update the results.

I am leaning towards a RAM issue but we'll see what the memtest turns up.

EDIT 2: Despite the consistent BSOD's that happened last night it seems me updating m... Read more

Hello all,

i am in dire need of some help with my pc. I am experiencing numerous BSOD issues. It started out whilst gaming with Battlefield 3 but is now happening all the time weather it be browsing the internet or just doing nothing. (If it helps firefox is crashing all the time). the computer is 10 months old and ran fine up until recently.

I have had page fault, memory management, NTFS fault, bad pool, system exception.

I have reviewed the forums and tried all the usual fixes, which goes along these lines:-

I used memtestx86 on my ram and found i had a dead stick so i purchased new 2 x 2G OZ 1333mhz, tested them for 20hrs and when they tested fine replaced the old sticks. Great i thought sorted, alas no.

I removed AVG as one of the dmp files indicated it was that. nope

carried out a chkdsk / r which showed no errors

I removed all my nvidea drivers as they were being indicated but no its now worse than ever.

I have attached the minidump files i have had over the past two days.

Any and all help is appreciated (also if you need anymore info ill try my best)

Cheers Steve

Having online issues. When I first get online, dialup-IE 6, everything seems to run pretty smoothly. Gradually it takes longer and longer to go from page to page, longer to open anything, online games gradually become unstable, my screen may "flash" on and then back on again, as if refreshing. When I check out the Task Manager in XP, I notice that Internet Explorer 6 is up way over 100k in virtual memory use, although it starts out low when initially started.
I am not that computer literate, learning as I go and cannot figure this out. I have ran Adaware, Spybot, Avast Anti-Virus scans all showing nothing there.
Can anyone help me with this? I only have 128k ram and know that is an issue. A new computer in the future just not possible right now.
Thanx so much for any help as I greatly appreciate this...this problem is driving me nutz!! Thanx

These crashes were caused by memory corruption (probably a driver). Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

Hello and welcome to TSF

There are some things you should know:

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files.

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

Thank you in advance for helping me resolve my issue... I am actually writing this post & pasting the HiJackThIs log below from my mac... on my left is my brother's computer which he needs to get back TOMORROW and is counting on me. I was so hoping his slow-mo problems were hardware-based--- slow/stalling and VERY quirky and usually virtually (literally i guess) impossible to access web pages... But it has a solid connection @ my place, and even so... 80% of the time browser pages will NOT load--S'pecially IE's.
I have spent most of this evening TRYING to follow the well mapped out prelim instructions posted from your tech staff... but just being able to d'load HijackT was a major accomplishment... FORGET about updating windows.. it just hangs on the progress bar.
I did my best to remove misc EXTRA anti-virus remnants... and I achieved the best performance (if you can call it that) after disabling some start-ups.
I NEED YOUUUUUU...The thought of him retrieving his desktop Dell ---running XP-Home (service pack 2) --- in this condition --- is H o r r o r ifying!

I keep getting the BSOD, with the same error code, and always showing tcpip.sys as the problem. I haven't analyzed the errors bit by bit, so I don't know if there are any differences. I have gotten these now on 7/16, 7/27, and 8/13. After one of the first two, I did a restore to about a week or two earlier. Since the second one, I have updated all drivers. I've run multiple virus scans and found nothing. After this most recent error, I double checked my drivers related to networking and get the message that they are current. Since the last error, I've run a check of the hard drive and memtest (7 cycles), and found no errors. Also ran yet another virus scan and found nothing. I've even checked for updates for my router, and there are none available. I use a wireless connection. I've been using facebook every time (and probably have at least one other tab open), but I also have no problems 99% of the time in the same circumstances. The other tabs open are never the same. Not sure what else to try to resolve this. I tried to fill in my computer specs, but there are several I'm not sure of.

Thanks in advance for help.

um, hello, this is the first post of mine here, so please go easy on me
to the main point, i recently re-installed my windows into Windows 7 x64 and currently having a few times BSOD while playing TERA online, which is never happened before (using Windows 7 x86).

First BSOD happened with error code 0x0000003b, and i try to resolve it myself by reading a similar thread here. From what i read the problem is caused by graphic driver, some of programs like MSI Afterburner and OC then i removed the program as the suggestion said, restore the default system, run disk check, executing command line sfc /scannow, also update the graphic driver.

i thought everything is back to normal again, then suddenly approximately an hour, another BSOD come with code 0x0000007e when i was playing TERA, and that make me desperate and post here.

please help me to resolve this problem, thank you for your time and attention

It does indeed seem to have the latest driver so lets do some stress testing to make sure that the problem does not lie in the GPU its self, or that it is not over heating:

Furmark:
FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net

Quote:
FurMark Setup:
- If you have more than one GPU, select Multi-GPU during setup
- In the Run mode box, select "Stability Test" and "Log GPU Temperature" (BurnIn test in newer versions).
Click "Go" to start the test
- Run the test until the GPU temperature maxes out - or until you start having problems (whichever comes first).
- Click "Quit" to exit

Keep an eye on the temperatures, and report them here if they go above 80c then chances are there is a heat issue, if the test simply causes a crash like you have been experiencing, then it may be a problem with the GPU simply having a hardware level error.

If the Furmark test goes alright try running OCCT , start from the second part of the tutorial to tes... Read more

I've had my Dell Studio 1737 from Best Buy for a few months and it's been great.
However, I've been getting this 'blue screen of death' several times over the last two days.

http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=drbd3b&s=3

I have yet to find much information on my particular situation online.

Nothing has been recently installed (iTunes a few weeks ago). More than half the hard drive is empty. Plenty of space! The driver were updated the day I bought the system with no problems. Updating the BIOS didn't help.

This is driving me crazy!!!! I just want to have my computer back! Can anyone help me?

A:BSOD! 0X0000007E error and I can't find much info online (Pic included)

omg! me too. Its driving me crazy as to why this is happening. Its the 28th here in Korea and I noticed it yesterday. Woke up to my laptop having restarted overnight, it said there was a windows update. It blue screened after a skype conversation so I uninstalled it. I ran avg, ad-aware and even ccleaner to try and see if I had caught a virus. Nothing came up other than some tracker cookies which i got rid of. I've read other forums about the 0x0000007e error but they don't seem to apply in this case. I couldn't catch the error in time to write it all down but mine matches your picture.

I haven't installed any programs lately other than the adaware and ccleaner as a result of the blue screen. My laptop is a sony vaio sr and i've only had it for about a month. Can someone help?? Thank you

Sudden BSoD while playing an online game in my 2 year old laptop. Then after the computer restarts and prompted to choose to run the windows normally or repair. After choosing the run normally, I got BSoD again. Not sure if it is really one since I don't see the error code. Then the computer restarts. Then, prompted again and chose run normally and it happened again. For the third time, now the Windows started normally.

Hey guys,
I've been getting BSODs seemingly randomly but it occurs mostly when i'm watching videos which require divx I think. That is what i've noticed, anyway, it does happen at other times and the BSOD says this IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and this driver seems to cause it ntoskrnl.exe at this address ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0.

At first I thought it was related to some "files" that I had on my laptop but I used Eraser with the 35 pass erasure method and it still happens. Although, that did clear up another issue I was having which was that after a few hours of use or putting my laptop to sleep it would freeze to a point where i had to hard re-boot. I have defraged my laptop since then and the fragmentation is less than 1% .

Many of us on the forums actually do not recommend automated optimization tools for Windows 7. Windows 7 does a much better job of handling its own optimization than its predecessors did. We especially do not recommend registry cleaning as an "optimization" step because automated registry cleaning causes more harm to the registry than it actually repairs.

In the future, if you need help optimizing Windows 7, please post a thread in Performance & Maintenance - Windows 7 Forums or follow the tutorial enclosed in that forum to Optimize Windows 7.

Recommend removing your ASUS utilities through Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Uninstall a program. They can provide software interfaces with the hardware for overclocking, and even when the overclock is not enabled, that interface can cause instability. They are also not needed for the system to function properly and may reduce system resources.

Analysis:Your crashes were DirectX/graphics card related. DirectX comes installed with Windows, so this may indicate Windows corruption. It may also be that you have corrupted drivers or a graphics card hardware problem.
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Recently I have been getting crashes while playing games. The screen will go black and the sound will lag and then it will crash. This does not persist outside of gaming. Crashes usually happen about 5-10 minutes within the session. I've updated my video driver and directx and ran a few passes with the windows RAM test with no errors. I've also reset my computer to factory conditions and instead of a "ntoskrnl.exe" driver crash the dump files now says its "hal.dll" issue. I downloaded software from western digital to test my hard drive and nothing came up. I'm at a loss here. Any suggestions?

Hi I just built my computer about a month and a half ago and made sure my hardware was secured tightly and properly onto the mother board. I updated all of the drivers for the PC to the best of my knowledge due to receiving BSOD in the beginning partly because the drivers were not up to date. After the driver updates everything is working great from playing games and the usual day to day use of the PC. But when I started streaming two windows of online videos from either youtube or any other video site, thats when it started to give me the BSOD. But it was sporadic and not crashing with every single video playback. It would crash on some videos and not on others. I did some research and found a software called bluescreenview which captures the BSOD codes and this was what I found: hal.dll+12a3b. I don't understand what this code means because based on my research it could be multiple factors. Please help me. Thank you.

- OS: Windows 7 64bit
- OS was full retail
- Age of the system is about two months old now.
- Age of the OS installation is about two months old.

Other hardware specs:
CPU: Intel i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz
8 Gigs of RAM

A:BSOD playing youtube or any online video streams error hal.dll+12a3b

All of them are the HAL for Windows reporting that your CPU has detected an internal failure. Given the strong consistency for these errors (they're all identical with the same cpu cache bank referenced), I'm afraid your CPU has most likely kicked the bucket.

Before you proceed on anything, if you have your system overclocked in any way, shape or fashion, reset to factory defaults. It's good sense that despite previous success with overclocking, if a system starts getting unstable, the first thing one should blame is the overclocking and reset as a result. Even if it isn't, it can easily be returned to its previous settings.

Anyways, I have sometimes seen software bugs arise that would cause this, and even once I seen a video card cause this problem (how, I have absolutely no clue). First of all, if you have any software that came with your motherboard besides the drivers, uninstall them. I've found they are very buggy as well as gimmicky, and strangely they have usually caused WHEA errors like this, making it appear the hardware is at fault. Second, update your BIOS if you haven't already, as that can potentially cause this. Lastly, run MemtestCL on your video card. Note that since you have an ATI card, you'll need to download and install the ATI APP SDK first, as it requires OpenCL.

Those should cover any potential edge cases that could create these WHEA errors. However, my opinion would be that this is certain hardware (CPU). The causes mentioned previously have the pot... Read more

I've been on a DSL connection for some time now (almost a year), but around a few days ago, my connection speed for browsing the internet became extremely slow, staying around 500 bytes - 2Kbps. It would also take web pages a few refreshes to load completely. I use Opera as my main browser, but IE and Firefox are just as slow. However, my online games and bittorrent client are as fast as before... (This is Winodws XP SP2)

When I download a file on any internet browser, the file would download @ around 1kbps for a few seconds before the transfer rate goes to 0kbps, but there arent any error messages.

The other computers connected to the router don't seem to have anything wrong and their speed is the same as before.

These are the programs I installed around the time my internet slowed down:

.net framework 1.1 -which is now uninstalled
Norton Internet Security 2005 (w/ antivirus) - also now uninstalled

I have not touched any of my internet settings before this started happening

I have scanned my computer w/ Norton antivirus, AVG and various spyware cleaners all with the latest definitions and found nothing...

WTF is wrong with my connection??? Its PPPoe (at least that's what it says when it connects to the internet)

I can still play online games and use my bittorrent client without a hitch (same ping & dl/ul rates as before).

Probably due to those crashes you changed the GPU? The crashes of 24.04.2013 onwards are indicating to ATI GPU. This is also a very known issue, but a worst one. Let us discuss.

It is a bugcheck inherent with the ATI drivers. Universal. We dont know why it happens (AMD keeps it private). But we may try to troubleshoot.

Have you updated the display driver in between? If so, roll back to the earlier driver that worked good there.
Device Manager - Roll Back Driver

If not, uninstall the ATI/AMD display driver in Control Panel > Programs and features. Then follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

When done, download an earlier version of display driver from AMD Graphics Drivers & Software . Dont install CCC.

Does it work? If not, better you RMA the ATI GPU, as it is a new one.

On a serious side note, using two real time protection programs are harmful.

Hello all.

So I did a format a few days ago. Installed basic programs and drivers. Today I had two BSOD's out of nowhere just browsing or doing whatever, nothing heavy loading.

Unfortunately I was not able to read the error, but I do know it said something about "driver framework". Obviously I have some malicious driver, I lack a driver of something or there is a driver causing trouble.

I suspect it might be motioninjoy driver because I've heard negative comments about it so I uninstalled it after the second BSOD.

Thank you for your time

I get a sporadic BSOD when browsing [Firefox] - by sporadic I mean it can be as short as 2 days, or as long as 2 weeks between events. Most recent BSOD was about 2 hours ago.

BSOD shows DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and references NETIO.SYS.

Did a memory scan and found no issues.

I got the impression from a few people that own the same laptop that it was most likely the driver for the Realtek Wireless, so I recently updated all drivers [wireless, i/o, audio, video, etc] to no avail.

I attached an SF Diagnostic zip.

Welcome to Seven Forums.

First, we want to make sure the computer is saving your dump files. Go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Startup and Recovery [Settings] Make sure that "Write Debugging Information" is set to Small Memory Dump (256kb) if it is not already.Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Next, make sure that the folder C:\Windows\Minidump exists. If not, create it (allow permission if asked). Make sure any dumps you want to analyze, whether yours or others', are in this folder. You can ZIP/RAR the files and send them to someone else to analyze as well.

Norton is a frequent cause of BSOD's.

Please
remove it using its removal tool from here: Uninstallers (removal tools) for common antivirus software - ESET Knowledgebase

We recommended Microsoft Security Essentials

from a strict BSOD perspective.

Is most compatible & provides best stability compared to other antivirus app/Internet Security Software. Microsoft Security Essentials, Free antivirus for windows
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Hello mikeyboy212.

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Scan the system for possible virus infection.
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
Windows Defender Offline
Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any, following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Also, upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Hello, I've gotten a BSOD a few times now, mostly browsing web, 2 times it was when watching youtube video. Last time I posted here ESET was behind BSODs. A while ago I've bought a new wireless mouse and got a BSOD a few minutes after using it so I figured it was the suspect, I uninstalled the program for the mouse but maybe the driver was left over?

A:BSOD browsing web again

Posting a reply as I've done a system reinstall I was planning for quite some time, but already got 2 BSODs after it. First happened just after I reinstalled OS and was doing some standard tweaking getting windows to my linking, it seems like it was a different bugcheck than any before though. Next one just a while ago, again while watching a youtube video. I find it hard to believe it's just a coincidence with 4th BSOD happening with youtube playing. One thing worth noting is that I don't even have Flash installed yet so it can't be the culprit, I was using the html5 youtube player all along.

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads

Third party antivirus software may be involved, remove Avast.

Old drivers, should be updated:
swivspnt.sys - Sierra Wireless Virtual Serial Port driver - https://www.sierrawireless.com/Support/Downloads.aspx
Asmmap64.sys - ATK Hotkey ATK0101 ACPI UTILITY driver - ASUS - Notebooks- ASUS K43SJ (Located in utilities)

Your system is out of date. Please run Windows Updates and install All updates including Service Pack 1

I was in chrome typing in a password while Outlook 2007 was archiving messages and i got the BSOD, first time with this computer while i was using it. Apparently it happened overnight two days ago because i had the message that windows recovered from an unexpected shutdown. I am attaching the SF Diag Tool folder. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I updated my versions of Spyware Doctor on 11/10/2011 and Registry Mechanic on 11/08/2011. Thank you in advance.

Probably either Trend Micro or PCTools. I would remove both at least to test and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials

The most recent crash was Related to vwififlt.sys Virtual WiFi Filter Driver from Microsoft Corporation. It is causing the TCPIP.sys driver to crash.

The earlier ones are related to various things but several point to tcpi.sys

I would run a system file check to verify the OS drivers.

Could someone help me identify and fix the cause of this recent BSOD? I was browsing a forum on Firefox when it happened. I can't remember any other recent problems, except for maybe a bit of lag.

(Oh, and occasionally my wifi would mysteriously stop working. I just assumed that this was my ISP's fault, but I could be wrong. Choosing to repair the network connection and/or waiting a few minutes before connecting again fixed this issue whenever it came up. It hasn't come up very often, though.)

Maybe my laptop just overheated? The fan seemed to get louder around the time my computer crashed.

This is the error message I copied from the blue screen:

I copied from that:

Hi Guys,

Had a BSOD while the only app running was chrome. Three instances.

1. iGoogle
2. A Chrome Gmail App.
3. The active instance a chrome app pointing to Fictionwise eBooks: Free eBooks, eBooks for your iPhone, BlackBerry, Android device, Symbian Mobile Phone, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Palm handheld, PC, Mac and more!

My first BSOD for 6 months. The previous was due to a non compatible app.

Other info:

1. sfc /scannow ran clean.
2. Had a disk marked dirty last week. Checkdisk ran clean.

Crash reports attached. Hopefully nothing sinister.

Hi kado897.

STOP 0x0000003B: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory

Your latest dump file lists ntkrnlmp.exe as the probable cause. This is a Windows System file and for it to be the cause of your crash is highly unlikely.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.

As a Priority:

Norton is known to be a cause of BSOD's on Windows 7 systems. I suggest that you uninstall Norton using the Norton Removal Tool ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe in Safe Mode. Download Blue Screen friendly Microsoft Security Essentials as its replacement. Make sure Windows firewall is enabled!

Outdated Drivers. Update: You have many outdated drivers. I'd make my first ports of call to be my O.E.M. and Mobo Mfr's. support sites for updates, before using links provided.
