Hi,
I have a big problem with 10 computers of this type (M91p 4518). They're still crashing into BSOD once or twice a week. I'll post dump file down here. My sugestion was that I have to reinstall drivers for my graphic card, but that didn't help. Do you have any idea?? What about BIOS flash?

So, okay, an optional update showed up this morning to remove some broken Lenovo software: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3107998

But this machine I'm typing at is an ancient-ASUS-motherboard machine, not a Lenovo.

Now, in this house there IS a Lenovo laptop (that has yet to be updated, probably, since it's early morning and my daughter carried it into her room so I can't yet get to it...).

Did Microsoft distribute this "Lenovo Fix" optional update to regular nonLenovo PC users?

Or did Microsoft get their database(s) confused and think this aAm machine is a Lenovo machine?

Or what?

I have recently bought seven new computers for a lab at the place that i work at and they are all custom.

These are the specs:
MSI Geforce NX8500GT Video cards
AMD Athalon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor
2 Gigs Patriot DDR2 PC2-6400 Extreme Performance RAM
Western Digital 160 GB Hard Drives
600W OCZ GameXstream PSU
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Montherboards

they all run like a dream except when i install some games on all of them, during the install the computer will just randomly freeze up, mouse and all.

now i'm well aware that sometimes you get bad eggs in hardware (ive already had to return a video card when it died 20 minutes into using it.) but when ALL of the computers have problems, it leads me to believe the problem is in the software.

im baffled, because when a computer freezes, its usually a ram problem so i thought maybe video card drivers. so i tried reinstalling the video card driver from the disk as the one i installed on the model computer before i ghosted the drive was downloaded from the nvidia website. and that seemed to make things a LITTLE better but they still occasionally freeze up just when im installing things or multitasking big time. actually im lying, one of them hasn't frozen once.

so could someone help me out here, i just dont know what could be causing every computer to freeze, the only thing i can think of is power supply but as you can see i have a very decent one and its 600 Watts so i doubt that.

thanks in advance for an... Read more

I recently configured 15 workstations connecting to a Windows Server 2003 Server configured as a Domain Controller. Every day at 5PM, there seems to be a slowdown/freeze when any attempt to access server data is made. There are a few client/server apps on this network and they all behave the same way at 5PM. Some of the workstations have a shortcut to an Excel file on the server. When this shortcut is clicked at (or after 5PM) it generates an error that states the file can't be found and then the shortcut disappears. If the workstation is rebooted, then everything works fine. Sometimes the computer has to be robooted several times before it begins working properly again. Any ideas?

A:Computers freezing on network...

What shows in your event log on the server and clients at 5pm? Also have you run something to monitor processes at any time before 5pm and then again at 5pm to see whats different?

Hi, I have recently just built me own computer, however sometimes when using it, it will be very slow and it will also freeze for about 20 seconds and then work again. Also when you put a disk in to install something it will take about 1 minute to autorun the disk. Does anyone know what could be causing this.
I have had my graphics card replaced, my RAM replaced and my Hard Drive replaced and still no luck, the only things I havnt have replaced are the Motherboard, CPU, PSU and Blu-Ray Drive.

These are my system specs:
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
ASUS P5K Premium Motherboard
BFG GTX280 1GB Graphics Card
OCZ Reaper RAM 8GB 1066
1000w PSU
Intel Q6600 CPU (Manufactured Overclocked)
Samsung Spinpoint F1 Hard Drive 1TB
Pioneer Blu-Ray Disc Drive

Perhaps you should go back to basics and start over... no overclocking... 2 GB of RAM. Reset your system. See how it does, then if it works well, start over, keeping notes as you go.

Hi all, having a really strange issue that is affecting multiple computers all with windows 7 64 bit.

Home computer: Only seems to happen when installing or deleting .exe files... usually when I try and delete them. It is fine doing everything else.. gaming/etc.
Specs:
I5 750 CPU
8 GB DDR3 RAM
Nvidia 560 TI

Work computers (at least 6 different ones, all with different users): If it were only these computers having the issue, I would say lack of RAM... since we run a lot of apps, but since it is happening on my home computer....
Specs:
Intel 2 Duo E7500
4 GB RAM
Nvidia Quadro NVS 450

At work I caught the RAM dropping down to 0 free, where it will normally have around 1 gig - 500 mb free. I haven't been able to catch the ram usage at home when the issue happens... since you can't even CTRL ALT DELETE, I forget the exact message, but it pretty much tells you to just restart your computer manually. Also the internet connection will drop, and firefox will say a script stopped responding.

This seems to have started happening in the last month or two, which leads me to think there was an update that affects how windows 7 is allocating RAM, where it is trying to use too much for the system and draining it.

Since this seems to be affecting so many computers I really expected to see a lot of people having the issue online, but I haven't been able to find anything.

Hopefully some of you have ideas, if you need any more info let me know. Thanks!

A:Multiple computers freezing/slowing down

Forgot to mention, home computer has Vyper antivirus, and I have run all different Malware programs, Search and destroy, Malwarebytes... The computer was built by me.

Work computer...that has all kinds of corporate antivirus things on it, also ran malwarebytes on it. Didn't find anything really bad. They are all Dells.

RAM tester at home came up clean... None have overheating issues.

Hi all,

In our office, we have recently experienced Windows freezing on random computers.
Out of about 50 PCs, approx. 10 PCs repeatedly experienced this freeze and not the others.
Here is what happens...
Users works on Windows, and during lunch, locks their PC and leave the office.
When they return, their PC locks up showing only the desktop.
Sometimes, when you hit ctrl + alt + delete to get the unlock window where you enter your password, it just shows you a grey box sometimes with or without the fields to enter your password and nothing happens.
You have to hard reboot the system to get back to work normally.
For some of these PCs, there is an error prompt stating that windows is low on resources... can't remember exact error.
Has anyone experienced this?

Note: we have checked the power settings etc and they are not set to hibernate or go into standby

Any ideas is greatly appreciated.

Hello all!

I am new here to the forum and I did read the faq and etiquette stuff. I did also do a few different searches to see if anyone else had posted a similar problem but unfortunately found none.

I have had my Linksys wireless g card since August. It really never got a work out until after September though because I was barely using the laptop then. (a note: I have all Linksys equipment)

I am now running my Dell Latitude C810 laptop and my home built from many parts computer running on the linksys network. Lately I have noticed that my mouse freezes while I am on the internet via the laptop but if I disconnect my wireless card the mouse pops back into motion and everything is cool. Well not too long after this started, my desktop totally froze everytime my AV and Windows Defender would try to access the internet.

Is is possible something in my network is causing this?

I have also had the interesting problem of my desktop (which is wired to the router) is jumping on the wireless network instead. I have limited (okay, VERY limited) network experience.

Any help would be much 'preciated. Thanks!

A:Can my wireless network be the reason for both computers freezing?

>I have also had the interesting problem of my desktop (which is wired to the router)
> is jumping on the wireless network instead.

if it's connected to the same router that supports the WiFi, then this is normal.

To your question re active wireless leading to a freeze; YES.
get the make/model/version numbers for your Linksys (likely WRT54G)
as well as the same info for your wireless adaptors in all systems.

1) get the lates firmware for the router and update it
2) do likewise for each system.

also make sure you are current with Microsoft Updates for all systems.

Hi I have been getting some call lately to fix peoples computers and when I get them I run malware bytes antimalware, ,ccleaner, adaware free 2008, I install avg 8 if needed and run that aswell, spybot search and destroy, i've also been running gmer to check for rootkits. I run each application until it shows up clean (in safemode and normal mode)then I use hijack this to remove some unwanted startup programs and to make sure that nothing is starting up that shouldn't be. (If something looks out of the ordinary I google the program to verify that is is a good program) when that show up clean I finish by trying a couple different online scans and make sure everything is clean there as well. When all programs come up clean I remove them all except avg I usually leave on because alot either don't have and AV or it is soooo out of date that I remove it. Now lately I have been finding that after all that they still are running slow and I don't mean nano second delay I mean like you click on start and five minutes later it pops up. I was thinking dirt or heat issue but processor fans/heatsinks are clean. There is nothing to indicate overheating I ran defrag and chkdsk and still no better. They run fine in safe mode so it almost cant be hardware is there something else I should be running or is there a new rootkit or spyware or something out there that I am missing? If it was one pc I could see it but when I start seeing five or six the same way I start to wonder.

A:Computers freezing or running verrrry slow

Depends on how good their specs can handle AVG. AVG slows down many machines (including mine, it was very noticeable). Try uninstalling AVG.You should also not really be messing with HJT at all unless you know exactly what you are doing. You may have deleted a legit entry by accident and that has caused the major slowdown.Just a question, are you using the Registry Cleaning portion of CCleaner?

For the past couple of months, the mousepad has been really glitchy. It is almost impossible to use now. The cursor keeps freezing and only hitting enter or the fn +f6 key helps is unfreeze temporarily (as in for a couple of minutes). Apart from that, any webpage or file I open, the screen automatically goes to the bottom of it. This is obviously connected to the mouse pad issue somehow. I tried reinstalling the drivers from the Lenovo website and it didn't help. I checked the hardware using the Synaptics Pointing Device Pressure Graph and Moodmap. Everything seems to be working well. This makes me believe it's a software issue. Please help me fix this.

Hi,  I bought a Lenovo Ideapad 300 a few months ago and its been freezing a lot, at first it was once in awhile, every few days and I didn't really notice it all. However it has now started to freeze multiple times a day and I don't understand why. I could be watching a video on YouTube or facebooking friends or on a call on Discord and bang it will freeze, no logic or reason to what I'm doing which would casue it to freeze but it does freeze.  I read someone suggest that Microsoft Edge could be causing the probelm but I don't use Edge, I use chrome for all my major browsing.  When it freezes I have to hard reset my laptop which constantly doing that isn't great.  Could anyone provide any possible insight or help?

I've worked on my neighbors laptop a few times before and never had an issue getting it back up to snuff. Now I'm having a heck of a time getting it to stop freezing and slowing down.

Specs
Windows 8.1 (x64)
Intel i5 Processor
6 GB RAM
1TB HDD

I've run adwarecleaner, jrt, and installed Ccleaner. I also have Avast Free installed which I run concurrently with Malwarebytes.  There are minimal programs on startup; no malicious installed software.  Windows updates and device drivers are up-to-date.

It will run fine for 5 to 10 minutes and then completely bogs down.  The cursor will actually freeze on the screen.  Proccessor usage hardly goes over 50% if ever and memory usage stays below 40% even after running a while.  Chrome and Firefox both crash often enough even after resetting and reinstalling them.

I'm not sure what else to check/do besides a reinstall of windows but I'm hoping I'm just forgetting something obvious.  I'd rather not reinstall if I can help it.

I have Recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 2. 11.6 inch screen Laptop. With N 3530 processor. I am having problems with it freezing up and it makes a horrible loud buzzing sound. No buttons respond, mouse won't function and touch screen does not respond. I've been experiencing a lot of weird quirks with my Yoga 2, and I'm not sure whether Windows 8.1, my specific combination or drivers, or a hardware issue is to blame.  The most consistent, and annoying issue, is the laptop constantly freezes after putting it to sleep.  It is almost transparent -- I never see the blue screen, because I've already closed the laptop.  I just open it up, the Lenovo logo pops up, and it turns out my computer has rebooted.  The windows event log confirms that a critical error has occurred. I've performed a factory reset and it still occurs.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

A:Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Freezing after sleep

Hi,I have the same problem with my yoga 2 pro. I've tried to find solutions but none of them work for me. My best guess is that the new hardware have compatibility issues with windows 8.1. My spec is i7 4500 8GB RAM 256GB SSDBTW, you can avoid this frustration by disable Sleep mode. I use Hybernate mode for both my power botton and lid-close actions. Setting are in Power Options.I hope Lenovo take this seriously, it's a shame that we have to experience all this. Don't they care about branding?

Hi. I'm having the following warning: The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\SYSTEM\0001 I have a Lenovo H50 Desktop (Win 10) and last night or early this morning something happened to my PC as when I went to use it, I did see the power light still on (screen was in power saver mode, but when I clicked on any key or on the mouse, nothing was happening and the PC was apparantly unresponsive (or in some sort of "hibernation") and I had to basically hold down the power button until the PC shut off. I then powered it back on but still nothing happened. So, before I started to freak out (I got this PC in December so not that long ago), I again held down the power button to force shutoff then I unplugged the PC for a minute or two, then plugged back in and powered the PC back on. At least this time it booted up, but it seemed to come up to the "lock screen" rather than the usual main login screen - again as if it was in some sort of strange sleep or hibernation mode with someone logged in.. I then confirmed this by choosing to restart the system and it did give a warning that some users may lose information..blah blah, but I chose to do the fresh restart anyway. After the restart, it booted up normally to the main login screen.  I did look in the event viewer but did NOT see any Critical events in the past hr or 24 hrs, a few Errors (none that I could see that explained the freeze) but saw these Warnings: ?  Is something occasio... Hello,I have a Lenovo z50-75 which just lately has been prone to crashing. This crash freezes my laptop and displays coloured lines all over my screen, forcing a hard shutdown by holding the power button. This crash will happen whenever I update the graphics card drivers, usually during the process. This crash can also happen randomly as shown in the attached picture where I had just installed a clean version of windows 10 and processed to reinstall my steam games, but oh no bam it crashed. I am running latest AMD drivers, using drivers from the lenovo website will crash still. I cannot perform any tasks on this laptop without it crashing, watching videos or playing games usually ends in a crash. I need a working laptop for university next month, not one that crashes every hour or so.

Hello 8-forums.

I'm posting on behalf of my little brother since he isn't the sharpest when it comes to computers. Today his computer started freezing and crashing out of nowhere at completely random times. I couldn't pinpoint an activity he was doing which might have caused it.

On top of that a pop-up kept coming up on his screen about his screen driver having crashed and has been restored. I happen to have the same laptop and I've had this problem for a week or 2 too, but nothing happens when it shows up on my screen (unlike his, where it crashes the computer). His screen now also has blue matrix-like lines all over his screen as a result of todays crashes.

I asked him to send the Zip-file from the DM log collector tool. He only had a BSoD once and he didn't notice the error code. The rest were freezes (forced to restart) and crashes (no BSoD screen).

Hope you can help find a solution to my brothers problem.
Regards Jens and Walther

I purchase 2 of these desktops at the same time and have been experiencing random lock-ups on both of them over the last few months. I have updated the BIOS, done all Windows updates and have just recently upgraded them both to Windows 10......but the freezing is still evident. I would say that on average one of the 2 desktops freezes every 3-4 days and there is no pattern to what the computer is doing when it decides to lock up. When the lock-up occurs I am still able to see the screen but the mouse and keyboard inputs no longer register and I'm unable to change the Caps Lock status on the keyboard either. The only way to restore service is to either hold down the power button for 5 seconds or unplug the base unit. I have seen a few others who have posted online with similar issues but no mention of a resolution.

I have a K450e that I purchased in June and that I love but ever since WIN 10 was installed it locks up -- the keyboard and mouse do not work, there is no way to get a response from the system.  The only thing I can do then is power the machine off the hard way. HELP!  Help!

Hi,I have problems with my recently bought laptop - Lenovo Y700-15 i5. Sometimes it freezes - I can only move mouse, but clicking and taping on the keyboard causes nothing on Windows 10. Reinstalling Windows didn't help. I've also installed Ubuntu OS - still freezes, however from time to time I can access the HDD partition (which is empty) with mouse but can't access SSD one still. Right after rebooting OS using the Power button BIOS almost always (always on Windows, sometimes on Ubuntu) doesn't see my SSD disk. I have to restart laptop several times. What do you think - is this a software, driver issue or hardware problem?CPU: i5 6300HQGraphic: Geforce GTX960MRAM: 8GB DDR4SSD: Plextor PX-128M7VGThanks in advance!

Hey guys, strange problem, unit started freezing before it could go the desktop so I did a system restore and now can easily get to the desktop but first issue is that the owner always had to enter his password to enter windows, now that doesn''t happen, when booted the system will go straight to windows. Also rightlicking on the main folders such as My Pictures My Documents e.t.c doesn't work so I am guessing it's a permissions issue. I looked at the Folder Options but not seeing anything there regarding permissions, I want to advise the owner to backup all files first before I should proceed to do anything but since I can't copy and paste that won't work, any ideas please?

For my y700 laptop, I recently formatted the os disk and reinstalled windows 10. But before I could do updates, and at random intervals, the cursor moves to the middle of the screen and the computer freezes. I can't get any drivers because the computer freezes before it can finish installing. Any solutions?

Hello,

I recently renewed a rattling fan in my E220s. Since then I get permanent freezes every time, starting from ca. 5 to 40 minutes on. I checked with Sandra, and to my understanding no temperature sensor shows anything abnormal.

Since the thermal pad on the chip to the left from the CPU (northbridge?) seemed worn, I renewed it also with a 1 mm 7W pad. After dismantling again it does seem not the whole (but no less than 80%) of the chip's surface is hard pressed to the pad. I understand it's all the screws that keep the structure tight, but I have no more ideas on how it can be wrongly fit - or improved. Please note I have dismantled the laptop including the fan assembly several times before, without any noticeable issues. Yes I do use thermal grease/spread for the CPU.

Many thanks in advance,

lenovo yoga 3 pro 1370, 10 months old, upgraded to W10 Sept 2015, installed new drivers for W10, latest BIOS (a6cn58ww), all W10 updates installed. Here is the problem: since a couple of weeks, the system freezes when I move the screen (but only pulling it towards me) when the Broadcom 802.11ac is enabled. If I disable the Broadcom Network adapter in the device manager everything is fine and can move my screen without problems. Once I enable it BOOM ! I have posted this on other forum, and was able to get some relief (for 24h...) by doing the following: 1) I uninstalled the Broadcom driver and also checked the box ?delete the driver software for this device?2) I double clicked on the latest driver (4abe02af) and followed the instructions3) BUT at a certain point during the re-installation it asked me if I wanted to ?uninstall? the driver which I found strange as I had already uninstalled it from the device manager, so I clicked yes and it said ?uninstall complete? or something similar4) Out of curiosity I launched again the installation of new driver, and this time it installed without asking me whether I would uninstall it5) Rebooted the system, the problem disappeared for about 24h, then re-surface and still on.  So I am now facing again the old problem. I have tried all of the above for a couple of time but no avail. I have been adivced to restore the system to an earlier point but this means I will have to reinstall ... Read more

One suggestion..... I'm wondering after you straightened out the driver problem if Windows 10 didn't automatically reinstall the problem driver back again.  Windows 10 is good for giving driver updates whether you want them or not.  Try turning off the auto driver updates, reinstall the new driver and then see if that makes a difference.  This article will explain how to stop the auto updates of drivers......

Hi all!

This is my first time posting here, and I tried to look through some of the past threads but none of them were quite like the problem I've been having. Here are the specs for my laptop which was purchased just earlier this month, first off:

The problem I've been having is this: Lately, for the past 2-3 days or so, my wifi adapter would suddenly die-- meaning I can't connect to my home router or anyone else's, and when I try to use Windows' "Troubleshoot problems" feature, it would always get stuck at either "looking for problems with connectivity" or "resetting your wifi adapter". When I try to go into the advance settings to manually disable/enable my wifi adapter for myself, it would never actually work. When I try to click on the icon in the system tray, nothing would happen and it wouldn't pop up with the list of available networks like usual.

At this point, the only thing I can do is restart or shut down my laptop, but sometimes even that doesn't go throu... Read more

Recently my computer has been occasionally freezing while I've been browsing online. It doesn't actually get to the point of BSOD but programs will stop working and I eventually won't be able to close or open anything, including task manager.

I tried running CHKDSK to see if that could fix things, (it has crashed since then unfortuantely), doing so somehow filled up my hard drive. I went from having around 700 GB free to only having a couple hundred MBs free. I tried this two more times.

I've attached the dump log as requested as well as the three logs of the CHKDSK that I found in event viewer.

Thanks!

Hi all,

I bought a Lenovo G555 laptop in new condition, and it can't be more than two years old. For quite some time, it's had several annoying problems. Most notably, it occasionally completely freezes; this can occur while using it, or when opening the lid after it has not been in use. The second issue is that the time it takes to boot up is no less than 20 to 30 minutes. This occurs whether the computer is restarted or booted up after being off.

Here are the remedies I have already tried:

-Restoring to factory condition (several times)
-Daily antivirus scans (full scans once a week) with the most up to date virus definitions (I use avast! and nothing is detected)
-Full Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware scans with the most up to date definitions (no malware found)

I do not have an extreme amount of software installed, as I think I'm pretty careful about what I install on my PCs.

On top of this, beginning today, Windows is now reporting there is a problem with the battery and it needs to be replaced, but the problems described above began long before this happened.

I don't know if this makes any difference, but this PC is nearly always plugged in, as we only unplug it to take it elsewhere on fairly rare occasions.

Your help would greatly be appreciated.

A:Incredibly Long Boot Times and Freezing on Lenovo Laptop

I don't know if this makes any difference, but this PC is nearly always plugged in, as we only unplug it to take it elsewhere on fairly rare occasionsThe battery depletion came from here obviously. Has it ever been clean internally? Run a hardware diagnostic test for the hard drive and RAM stick if the laptop came with a built-in testing one to check for any errors.

Hello and welcome Baxter mate some more in depth specs please as that model Googles up as a laptop.
If you use this and find out what the motherboard is it would help a bit more

Using HW Info general components

DownloadHW Info and pick the right bit version - HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download - (copy andpaste this site into the search bar) If you do not need the running informationin the smaller right hand panel close it. In the left hand window click on the+ for the individual device groupings and they will open out to the variouscomponents.

Go onopening out further until you get to the device itself. click on it and it willhighlight. In the right hand window there will be a very detailed descriptionof that device as in brand, speeds model number etc etc These are very detailedand are just what is needed for searching for drivers etc.

See my picfor an example - in this I have opened out one my components and then highlighted one of the one you need andyou can see the detail.
But I want you to open Motherboard

PS I did mean to add please see this for posting back pics of the screen

I have 3 computers at work set up on a local network and connected to a router. My internet connection is DSL. I have no problems accessing websites, ftp servers, and other types of servers. I can ping other IP addresses as well. At home, I have one computer with DSL also. I can access everything from this computer as well.

Here is my problem: I have an ftp server and a hotline set up at work. Other people can access both servers with no problems. I cannot access it from my home computer (nor can I ping my router). I then set up an ftp server and a hotline server at. Again, other people can access them, but I cannot from work. Also, I cannot ping my home IP from work (I can ping others just fine).

Could somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I really would like to get this problem resolved.

THANKS!!!

A:Work Computers Cannot Access Home Computers

Are the home and work PC's set up on a WAN through your ISP or are they just on the Internet? Are you trying to connect from the PC's behind the router? Sounds like it is using some kind of network address translation that the other ends FTP doesn't accept. Look at the log on your FTP client for a clue as to why it's not connecting. Don't use IE for an FTP client because it has no log you can read. Use something like WS_FTP

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

My son accidentally got his leg caught in the cord of his laptop when he got up and the laptop  fell approximately 2 feet to the tile floor.  It boots up but stays on the Lenovo splash screen.  If I go into the BIOS and select System Recovery it goes through the "Loading files..." process, the Lenovo splash screen appears with the dots going in a circle but, then after about 2 minutes of that the screen just goes black.  If I tilt the screen forward or back I can tell it is still backlit just with nothing to display.  Anything we can try?

Hello everyone, Since about five days ago, everytime I turn on my laptop, it starts normally. It goes into the black-background lenovo startup with a white loading symbol. Then, after maybe 5 rotations of the dots in the loading symbol, it freezes. It does not progress into starting up. At this point, I usually turn off my laptop by holding the power button. If I don't turn it off myself, it turns off automatically a few minutes later.  Every 2 or 3 times I turn on my computer, instead of the loading symbol, it turns into a "Preparing Automatic Repair" mode. I have seen the loading symbol for this mode but then it disappears and nothing happens and it turns off automatically after ten minutes or so. I've seen the same solution that help others with the same problem which is to take out the DVD from the laptop. I did this and my problem has not changed.  edit: g500 to g505

I just bought my Lenovo ideapad 700 for a week now.

Previously I had the dust removal option in the Lenovo Quick Optimizer widget on taskbar.

After I turned it on, the option never existed anymore in the quick widget and even in Lenovo Companion app itself.

Would really love to see this feature again in my new laptop.

Hello, I need help on my Lenovo Companion app with it's dust removal option.

Hello, I have a new T530 with Windows 8 OS. I am having trouble using the integrated camera. It functions neither in the Windows camera app nor in Skype. In both cases I get a picture with a gray background and a camera with a line through it. In Device manager, the camera does appear, is enabled, and the drivers are up to date. After looking through other threads, I tried checking whether the camera was plugged in and indeed it was. When using Skype and I set the camera to on (Skype did detect the camera), I still got the gray no camera image, but the green light on the camera itself turned on.I also tried using Fn+F6 to check settings. Lenovo settings opens, but the when I click the camera settings Icon, the screen loads a blank page that says "Camera" in the top right and has a back button (left pointing arrow) in the top left hand corner. The back button does not seem to work and I must change the window to something else in order to exit/close settings.I tried manually installing both camera drivers and "power management" ("energy management"?) drivers. Neither of this solved either of these issues. Please help me to resolve this problem. Thank you.

Hi, euterpenc

I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date in the system. The current BIOS for your system is 2.07 and can be found here. Also, I would ensure that the chipset drivers are up to date, and those can be found here.

Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes
Adam

Hi,
I have 2 lonovo laptops, R50e running on windowsXP, and Z460 running on windows7.

The screen of R50e is spoilt but I have some personal datas inside the harddisk.

If I take out the harddisk from R50e and put it in Z460, are there any problems, do I need to do some setup after putting in the harddisk from R50e to Z460.

Thanks

A:can I swop harddisk from lenovo r50e to lenovo Z460

Yes, you do need to do a repair install.
On the very first boot with the new disk you should boot from the install CD/DVD and do a repair install.
This is assuming that you want to be able to use the XP.
If all you want to do is get at the data then you could use it in an external caddy from Windows 7

New low in customer service. Had a Lenovo tech here to do a warranty replacement of the display on my laptop and he left it in much worse shape than he found it and gave us a scare as an added bonus. He was yelling and clearly kicking things around out of frustration several times while he was here and then just left. I had debated asking him to leave but was honestly afraid to engage him, but having him just leave was really odd. Called the cops to be sure it was documented and to see if there was anything else we should do. And while that was all odd enough, then I called Lenovo to see what they would do to sort this out and all they can do is escalate me for a call from a supervisor in 2-3 business days.  Got an email yesterday saying they would get back to me in one business day and then tonight got this gem from escalated support: Subject: 02554745 [ ref:_00D30V2Wu._5001412BHaF:ref ] Hello Mr FreemanThis is regarding your Lenovo computer and the recent onsite service for your unit. My g580 ran out of battery while using it, and now it gets stuck on the lenovo logo. I tried a different hard drive which changed nothing, I've tested both hard drives on a different computer and they both work. However when I boot the laptop with no harddrive it will get past the logo go to a screen saying something about an unplugged cable then reset and get stuck on a blank screen.   If I plug in my windows recovery usb drive( and no harddrive) the the machine will boot normally and go to the windows installation screen. So any ideas on why a working harddrive would stop the system from booting? Also I've tried the whole taking out the battery unplugging it holding down the power key and then plugging it back in thing, did nothing.

Hi Azadkv,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that your G500 Laptop is not booting to Windows and hanging at Lenovo Logo and the issue persists even after performing Flee-Power step. Hence, I suggest to perform BIOS reset and check if the issue persists. Below are the steps to perform BIOS reset:

To access BIOS menu turn OFF the Laptop and press the NOVO button located beside power button.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now click on ?F10? Key to save the changes that are done in BIOS, the computer will automatically restart.

Do post us back if the issue persists.

Best Regards

Using Windows 10 version 1511 and all updates.  Used the Lenovo System Update and everything has been updated.  I wanted to turn on the built-in camera on my Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 530, the F5 key, and it came up with a message saying, "This key combination opens the Lenovo Settings Program. You do not have the Lenovo Settings Program installed on your computer. To launch the program using this key combination, install the program first." I went and downloaded the Thinkpad Settings Dependency for Windows 10, restarted the laptop and it still doesn't work. Even the Lenovo System Update program has it and I also downloaded it.  I restarted the laptop again and it still doesn't work. I then went to install the Lenovo Settings App on the Windows store and it doesn't look like the right one plus it still didn't work. My other problem is with the Lenovo Companion App from the Windows Store.  It worked before but now it ask to "Please install or update the Lenovo System Interface Driver for full functionality of Companion, then restart the app after installation."  I have installed the Lenovo System Interface Driver multiple times and it still popped up that message.  Yes, I have restarted the laptop and Companion.   Is there a reason why these issues are happening and how to fix it?  Thank you in advance.

So my problem is as the title says.. Well it started when I opened my laptop from sleep mode then it was hanging up and then it suddenly turned blue with sad face.. I didn't read the problem clearly but i remember it saying a problem about "kernel_????_????"..

I tried to hard reset my laptop cause it was taking so much time then it ended up stuck on the logo... Now I'm the one with the blue sad face...

Hope you guys can help me as soon as possible., thanks in advance..

A:lenovo flex 15 is stuck on lenovo logo

Right, you mentioned it turned blue with a sad face, that is a Blue Screen of Death (or proper term is Kernel bugcheck) which indicates something has gone wrong.

I got stuck in the Windows 8 update loop and had to restore my computer to factory settings. When this happened to me a year ago I just updated to windows 10 and had no problems. So I got out of the windows 8 update loop by restoring to factory settings then downloading windows 10. Windows 10 installed then restarted my computer. Now my computer is stuck on the Lenovo screen with no loading circle or cursor and I cannot access BIOS.Here's a list of the things I tried:Ctrl + Alt + DelF1, F4, F8 - Repeatedly tapping and HoldingRemoving and replacing batteryTurning on with only AC cable and no batteryRemoving DVD driveTurning it on upside downRemoving AC cord and battery, holding power button for 15 seconds-30seconds - 40seconds and replacing power and turning onRemoving and replacing RAM And right now I unplugged it from AC power and I'm trying to drain the battery. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know. I'm a college student my life basically depends on my laptop. This did not happen when I upgraded to windows 10 last year and i still have the same computer.

A question my husband just posed. We share a computer room - me on a desktop hooked into a cable modem - hubby on a laptop just going wireless! He asked me if I thought my computer could affect his laptop even though we are not hooked together. Is that possible???? I know that phones or other things can affect computers (?) right or am I off base with that? Thanks for any info. Pip

A:Computers affecting Computers

depends on what kind of "effect" we are talking about, usually, if one computer is wireless, then you have a wireless router, and your pc, though not wireless, would still be connected to that same router. So, in that sense, they are a little "connected" to each other. But it would be important to know what kind effect he is worried about

Hi all,

Have been having some frustrating issues with my system recently. It all started when my system started freezing with strange patterns showing up on the monitor. I thought it must have been my video card and took it back to the computer shop to test it. They agreed the video card was faulty and sent it off for warranty. In the mean time I purchased a new low-end card and the system worked fine for about a week.

I then started to get the same issues again. I returned the system again and was told there was nothing wrong with this card. They spun some crap about the card not being powerful enough to run photoshop (which is where I spend most of my time) and convinced me to upgrade to a higher-end card, which I did.

Unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem and I continued to have problems. I returned the system yet again for a week or so. They tested it (with their HD and fresh install of vista) and said they didnt have any problems.

I picked the system up and used it without problems for around a week or so when the problems started to occur yet again. At the moment the system is freezing, freezing with a strange pattern on the screen (see attached jpgs) (looping audio), restarting, blue-screening (ecache.sys, IRQL not less or equal to, etc). It freezes during vista loading but sometimes makes it to the main OS environment.

I've tried reinstalling vista on a different drive and get exactly the same problems. It freezes and restarts during vista setup so... Read more

I recently built my first PC three days ago...
Specs:
i7 bloomfield 960 processor
4x4 vengeance ram
crosair hx850 PSU
evga x58 ftw3 mobo
hd 6870 radeon graphics xfx

When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both... (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.

any advice would be appreciated if not I will bring to a repair shop and have them sort it out.

A:Newly built computer random freezing and freezing on starting windows

Hello Skytri and welcome to Seven Forums. My usual disclaimer: I'm not at expert at anything.

I'm wondering if there isn't a RAM problem. Perhaps one of the sticks wasn't seated properly, etc. You could open Resource Monitor > Memory tab and make sure all RAM is being recognized. Make sure Installed = 16384MB and the Available + Cached + Hardware Reserved is the same amount. (You are using 16GB total, correct?)

Resource Monitor

If Memtest freezes you could try a quick check for a bad RAM module. Install one stick in Slot # 1 (or whichever slot the mobo manual says to use.) Run the computer to test for freezes. Test each of the remaining sticks one at a time. If all 4 sticks work you might want to go through these troubleshooting guides. They are time consuming but many people have been able to isolate their computer problems.

Hi there!
I have a usb soundcard which worked perfectly a while ago, but since some time this strange bug is causing trouble. Sound suddenly stops, and the VU meter in control panel stays at the same position - as if the sampling point of audio is stuck. Problem is
temporarily solved by disabling then re-enabling the soundcard.
I tried looking in the logbooks for relating events but I can't find any event which may cause this, as there is nothing happening at the same time as an audio freeze - or there must be a big delay of writing events to logbook.
I don't know what kind of data you need to help me solve this, but I'm happy to supply it!

Thanks in advance :)

Hello - I could do with some advice, I think.

Some basics first:

Dell Inspiron 1525 with 3GB RAM, running Vista

Recently I've had problems where my laptop has frozen during normal operation - nothing fancy, just surfing etc. It sometimes doesn't shut down properly either.

I have been using the radialpoint safecare software that Virgin Media supply in the UK as part of their broadband package. For a few months now the anti spy and anti virus s/w have failed to load, so I have relied on MSE. As I say, some problems have started to appear.

MSE told me that on 15/11/2010 i had a trojandownloader which was removed.

Some pals advised I would be better trying Malwarebytes or Avast. I tried the former and on scanning it stuck while looking at wklnhst.dat (something to do wth MS Works I think). I had to power off and on. It did a chkdsk which came up with a number of actions that looked like it was trying to fix something (sorry). I rand MBAM again and it got further then froze while looking at msvcr80.dll.

Power off/on again.

OK, then I tried avast, which seemed to get about 38% through then froze.
Power off/on again.

SOmeone suggested rkill would kill any trojan processes that might be causing a problem - t did knock off a couple of things (one by sun and another by ms). Malwarebytes again - crashed as before.

Struggling now!

Welcome any advice at all.

Cheers
Steve

A:Vista not closing properly/freezing - Malwarebytes/Avast freezing

Can you try running MBAM in Safe Mode?

You can get to safe mode via hitting F8 just after the BIOS Post screen/Dell Splash Logo.

Hello,

I'm going to post two different scenarios that happens when my computer needs a hard restart
My computer freezes completely (literally no movement on the screen or anything, it's not slow it's frozen). And an extremely loud buzzing sound comes out of my headphones or speakers. The same thing as above except without the loud buzzing noise.

I saw that this happened to someone else who had both the speakers and the headphones plugged in at the same time. However, scenario #2 just happened to me 10 minutes ago even though I only had my headphones plugged in.

I built this computer six months ago and it's the first computer I've ever built. I assume it's a driver issue but I can't really pinpoint the problem since no BSOD appears on the screen and I have no higher computer knowledge.

I'm attaching the zip file required.

Thanks,

A:Random Computer Freezing - Need to hard restart after freezing No BSOD

Wow, this sounds like the same thing that happened to a friend of mine when his hard drive was failing. Replaced the drive and the freezes went away. Even the buzzing noise.

Also you may need to look at what drivers you may have just install/updated.

Hoping you don't have any failing hardware "Motherboard, video card, etc". Those are expensive

Three Computers on a home network.
Desktop in Office (Windows 7) . Wife's Laptop (Windows 7). My laptop ( Vista unfortunately). Norton Security Suite and all three. I have a network setup and a Homegroup established.

Everything was setup and working so that I could share files between all three. My wife was able to open a desktop file make changes and save it back to the desktop computer.

All of that changed. Now we get a message when trying to save the file. "You do not have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission".

I have given the entire "MY Documents" sharing permission to everyone.

I have checked everything. I have looked over all kinds of forums and nothing has worked.

I am to the point of doing a complete reinstall of Windows 7 on my Desktop. I have spent tens of hours on this.

Any ideas?

A:Networked Computers - can't save files on networked Computers

Disable Norton on the Desktop, see if that fixes it. If not try disabling it on the other computers.

Do this only for testing. Re-enable when done. If it fixes the problem then you need to look at Norton to see how to allow access from the other computers.

Hello, I'm having an issue with my computer.

My computer has started to restart/freeze up on me. The thing is, it has graphical issues once it freezes/tries to reboot. I get all these lines through the screen, graphical glitches when trying to go through the BIOS, etc. The computer isn't too slow, it isn't acting strange, the only thing that is wrong is the obvious freezing/restarting with graphical lines and glitches once it freezes.

My video card has been going out for a long time(I share a computer with a few people and they seem to think the video card is ok, but I have always seen small glitches in graphics here and there), so I am thinking maybe this might be a problem, given the graphical glitches, the horizontal lines going through the screen once it freezes.

When it hits the BIOS, it sometimes shows these same lines with the screen going mostly black.

System specs are:

CPU - Core 2 Duo, speed I don't remember.

Video Card - Geforce 7900 GT 512mb

Ram - 2GB DDR2

Motherboard - Asus, P5N-E SLI

I got this computer a few years back and I am not one to keep updated with specs or talk about them often, so I have forgotten the speed of the CPU and I do not know if I am missing information for you guys.

Solutions I have tried:

Overheating - I used air to filter out all dust/dirt that might be there to harm the computer, I have plenty of fans in there, etc.

Any and all help will be appreciated, Thank you.

A:Solved: Computer Freezing/freezing/graphical glitchs

If you're getting graphical 'glitches' while in bios, that's usually a good sign that your graphics card is having issues - however, I have seen this happen with faulty ram. I'd recommend reseating the cards (ensure your computer is off and unplugged whilst doing so) and see if that helps

It is possible that the programs you listed have missed a nasty piece of malware.

Issue: Computer started freezing after a complete factory recovery.

Gateway GT5405E Refurbished
2.8 GHz Intel Pentium D Processor 820
2 Gigs of Ram
Vista Home Premium 32bit

Ok so the computer started freezing after a factory recovery I had Dualboot of Vista HP 32bit and Ubuntu 10.04. Well I decided I didn't want Ubuntu 10.04 on my computer anymore so I went to Google and downloaded EasyBCD to rewrite the bootloader. After the rewrite I restarted the computer let the computer load up restarted the computer and put in the recovery disc. I did a Factory Recovery as I said. Well after that I noticed I don't see Gateway Splash screen where it says hit F1 F2 or whatever to enter setup. Didn't really pay any attention to that so I'm on my computer after the recovery and went away to do something. I came back to my computer after how ever long and noticed the computer was frozen. Well at least the keyboard of mouse would not work.

Keyboard is PS/2
Mouse is USB

(I knew keyboard wasn't working because when I pressed num lock the light just stayed on)

So after a hard restart in which HDD check didn't come up but it did give the windows didn't shutdown correct screen and gave a choice between normal or safe mode. Anyway I did some looking 3 days straight found out turn off screen saver and screen turning off in power settings. So I did well the problem seemed to go away. Or at least it seemed like it did. I just wasn't leaving the computer idle for longer than 15 mi... Read more

A:Freezing, White Screen, Idles Causing Freezing

I don't think this is a blue screen of death problem, but hey it sucks to have a broken computer. Defragment the computer. load any CDs that came with your hardware. Did u update everything? (drivers and anything else that can be updated, just for updating sake). And just to be thorough, did u install any other software before it started freezing? Make sure your hard drive is not completely full. Test the memory by running Windows Memory Diagnostic just by typing it into search. I've read where it was recommended to turn off any IM service as it lowers security and slows down the system. As well, make sure you don't have a lot of things running at once, and make sure you don't have too many items running at startup. Windows defender > tools > startup programs (do this before installing new anti-virus protection, as that turns defender off. If u need to, temporarily turn defender back on just to list the startup programs), and see if too many programs are loading early and if you even want them to load at all. too many currently running and startup programs can slow down your system.

Check if you have a virus. If you don't have an anti-virus, recommend Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes. Check and make sure device manager does not list any non-updated drivers. If your computer cannot handle some aspects of vista like its theme, high display settings, and windows features that take up a lot of resources, turn as much as you can off so that they do not slow yo... A:Computer Freezing; Slowing Down. But mostly freezing. I have my HiJackThis! Log File.

I don't see anything in your log or your description of your problem to come to the conclusion that your problem is malware related. When there is malware present there will always be other internet related symptoms like popups or a browser hijack etc...

I will advise you to uninstall Microsoft Anti-Spyware as the version you have is very old and no longer supported. It in now called Windows Defender.

Here are some routine maintenance practices that you should do on a regular basis to keep your machine running efficiently. Go through this now and see if it helps:

Disk Cleanup:

http://www.theeldergeek.com/disk_cleanup_utility.htm

Defrag your HD:

http://artsweb.bham.ac.uk/artsit/Info/Guides/GoodPractice/defrag-win2kxp.htm

Run chkdsk:

To use Chkdsk, click Start and My Computer. Right-click the hard drive you want to check, and click Properties. Select the Tools tab and click Check Now. Check both boxes. Click Start. You'll get a message that the computer must be rebooted to run a complete check. Click Yes and reboot. Chkdsk will take awhile, so run it when you don't need to use the computer for something else.

Remove unnecessary startups

This should be done through the System Configuration Utility. Go to Start > Run and type in msconfig.
Click OK or hit the Enter key.

Click on the "Startup" tab and remove the check by the items that you have determined are unnecessary. Click "Apply" then "Close"

You will be prompted to ... Read more

I have 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium on an HP Compaq CQ5210f. More system details at the bottom. This problem happened twice in mid April, and now twice again in early May, both within days of each other.

The only thing that remains consistent is that I'm playing a 3D game with audio on, the winamp program. Completely different games each and every time, though, some far more gentle on the video card than others. The screen would freeze up and so would the audio, and my keyboard/mouse don't respond at all. I resort to doing a hard reset with the computer power button.

Each time, when I log in again, explorer.exe is frozen. the taskbar appears, but nothing on the desktop, and after a couple seconds it all freezes up, with the busy mouse symbol when I highlight taskbar. I can still move mouse around though.

I can do ctrl+alt+delete at this point at least. Restarting explorer.exe doesn't work, so I try logging out in that menu, which does work, although slowly.

I've tried scanning for virus and also a system restore to earlier point, no difference.

The only solution so far has been to simply log in safe mode - which DOES work by the way - and create a new account from scratch.

Last time I cut/paste almost everything between old account and new, this time I will only do basics like save games and documents/music/video.

Can anyone please explain or help me understand why this is happening? I'd hate to have to keep restarting a new account... Read more
