I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 15 7559 a month ago. The first week it was amazing with no problems at all.
Then when I was working on it, left it plugged in and left is for a while, then came back to it after 1 hour or so, I noticed that the battery was discharging.
Did not mind it until it went to "plugged in, charging" 0% and it shut off completely.
I tried to turn it on several times and it did not turn on.
Called Dell service center and advised to remove the battery. I cannot remove the battery completely because of the screw type but managed to remove the cables.
I turn it back on and it worked again. But after a few days the probem kept recurring.
Its going like "plugged in, charging" but it is not charging. Or "1 hour 05minutes to full charge" but after an hour it will be "1 hour 40minutes to full charge". I mean what gives.
Have done all that was advised in the internet but not hing is working.
I have done restart task manager, uninstall API, and all that, but the problem is recurring.
BIOS was updated recently also. So is it hardware of software.
Please help for anymore ideas?
Its brand new, it rocks when it is working, but I dont have the patience to kept on checking for hte battery status. It is getting annoying also.
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

Hi, i have an Inspiron 15 7559. Last week my battery was damaged and can't use it anymore, since then I have low fps while gaming (gta v, witcher 3, etc.), I've read there is a kind of throttling when there is no battery, maybe the turbo boost is not being enabled.
Is there a way I can make the laptop work again like before, I can't buy a new battery yet because I live in Peru and is hard to find this battery model.
I have a brand new dell inspiron laptop which was delivered yesterday. First day worked fine. Have woken up this morning and the ac adapter is not charging the battery. I did a diagnostic boot and when scanning the battery the error message read:
I have no idea what has caused this fault and how to get it fixed. Please help, ive had this laptop less than 48 hours.
I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7559 laptop about a week or so ago and several days later realised some odd USB transfer behaviour. Tried all 3 different usb3.0 ports, same problem.
(Bios was updated immediately after cloning hdd to m.2 ssd and all drivers updated.)
(I swapped the 1TB hybrid drive with a Samsung 850EVO and installed an m.2 Samsung 850EVO) (OS and most files on the m.2 drive)
External hard disk: Transfer of large sizes or even a single large file (GoPro video near 4gb) occurred rather erratically (fluctuating between 90+ and 40+ mb/s) and eventually reaching 0mb/s and pausing there for quite awhile before transferring again at fluctuating speeds, sometimes reaching 0 and pausing again. File transfer completes eventually, but after a ridiculously long time.
The same hard disk works fine with my desktop (writes at a steady 90+mb/s)
External ssd: transfers for awhile before reaching 0 and giving an error code. (works fine with my desktop) (error code: 0x8000745D)
Thumb drive: writes fine at 90-100+mb/s, just like my desktop.
Notes: File transfer problems mentioned above were from both the m.2 drive and 2.5mm drive, internal transfer from the m.2 to the 2.5mm Samsung 850EVO ran fine. Samsung Magician installed, problems persist with RAPID either enabled or disabled.
Solutions I've tried but have not made a difference:
Chkdsk /f /r
Booting into safe mode (transfer problems existed even in safe mode)
Uninstalling and reinstalling usb drivers

Hi, I can't seem to get anything higher than 1920x1080 in the list of available resolution options when I connect my Dell U2713HM monitor to my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. I've run this monitor at 2560x1440 on another laptop over HDMI in the past but that was with Windows 8. The Intel HD Graphics 530 Control Panel doesn't offer any resolutions above 1920x1080 for the external monitor and adding custom resolutions results in the error "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". I'm using the same high speed HDMI cable that worked at 2560x1440 with this monitor on my previous laptop. I'm fully up to date on all of the drivers for the laptop.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure what else to try. Could this be a Windows 10 issue? Should I try the standard Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers from the Intel website?
The hardware on the system supports the 2560x1440. It should be a software issue. I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the video card driver from Dell website as these drivers are tested on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the video card.
Press the Windows key and Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
Select the Display adapters listed and right click on it.
Now select properties.
In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
You want to delete the driver click OK.
After the uninstall finishes restart the system. Then reinstall the Intel video card driver for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the video card drivers from Video section onto the system and install it.
Please let me know if this helps.
Why Active State Power Management is not supported on Dell 7559? Any plans to fix this with BIOS update?
In Windows if I do powercfg /energy it reports the following:
Platform Power Management Capabilities:PCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) Disabled
PCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) has been disabled due to a known incompatibility with the hardware in this computer.

Hi, I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 7559, with the 2 year warranty, but the problem is it only has an HDD, and I wanted to install a SSD, and possibly a 8GB DDR3, but my question is will doing this void the warranty, on the bottom of the laptop there is no sticker saying it will.

Hi All,I have an Inspiron 15 7000 series (7559) to be exact.Core i7 processor,4 GB RAM,GTX 960M and 1 TB HDD.I have been trying to play GTA V,The Witcher 3 and a few other games but none of them work properly there is so much lag.I have reinstalled windows all NVIDIA drivers and everything is up to date. While playing the game GTA V in this case when it lags my DISK is at 100% in the task manager could that be the issue.I have been so disappointed with this laptop till now.Can anyone please help me with this issue.
( I have contacted dell they have replaced my motherboard which includes the Cpu and Gpu twice but still nothing)
I have a new Dell Inspiron 7559:
I use it for work, mainly translation tools, and also for some ocasional gaming (Witcher 3, Cities skylines, etc.).
So I was thinking on maybe upgrading it a bit, but as I´m on a budget I can only afford upgrading the ram up to 16GB or to buy an SSD of 250GB, what would you suggest to upgrade?, which of both would have more impact on the performance?.
Thank you very much!
If it's running a conventional (or hybrid) hard drive, the SSD will make much more of an overall impact than the memory upgrade.1 more replies
I opened my new Inspiron 7559 today, after updating all the drivers including the NVIDIA one, so I installed league of legends, upon playing the first game, I noticed my FPS was around 130 and would cap around there, I found this odd as the laptop I had returned before this was an older model by Dell and it ran the game completely fine at 215 FPS another thing I noticed is the game would freeze randomly, overall it feels like my laptop isn't keeping up even though it has really good specs, what is the possible issue?
EDIT: Last night the game completely froze and I had to manually turn off my laptop and back on again.
I have the same problem with my Inspiron 15 7559 playing The Division. Game hangs with fans at full speed and laptop won't turn off even when holding down the power button for more than 10 seconds. How do I manually turn off the laptop? It's still running as i type...2 more replies
Just got my computer back from Dell tech support having sent it because of an issue with no audio output device installed and the red x on the toolbar. The computer is in the exact same state as before I sent it with nothing fixed. I've tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times, checked if audio services were running and all of that. Feels like a huge waste of money at this point and is especially disappointing because this computer was actually a gift for someone. Has anyone had this issue with this computer and have it resolved without resorting to an external usb sound driver?
You can diagnose this by performing a system recovery (reset the laptop back to the original factory configuration.) If there is still no audio immediately after recovery, before getting on the internet, then the audio hardware has failed and Dell will have to fix it under the terms of the warranty. In other words they could not say it is a software issue and therefore not covered.
If the recovery does fix it, but the problems recurs after getting on the internet, then probably some Windows Updates-related issue.
Hi All, I recently got a Dell Inspiron 7559. It came with a 8GB Skhynix "hmt41gs6bfr8a-pb no aa 1506" RAM stick. I'd like to upgrade it to 16GB. I thought I had bought the same 8GB RAM model from ebay, but I had received an 8 GB Skhynix "hmt41gs6bfr8a-pb na aa 1511". Are they two completely different models because of their different nomenclature? Can I still use it to upgrade my ram? Thank you
There's only one memory socket on this model, so an 8G isn't going to get you an upgrade. You need a 16G module to upgrade.
These are available, but brace yourself of the price - they're expensive:
(as you can see, going from 8G to 16 causes the price of a module to rise by a factor about five).
My dell inspiron 15 7559 wont shut off, the keyboard stopped working, the mouse and trackpad stopped working and the power button wont shut the computer off. Please advise on how to turn it off.
I suggest you contact Technical Support for assistance in the link below:
If Dell doesn't answer your question then I suggest you( or a very good friend) remove the battery, press the " Power On" button for 20 seconds, install battery, adapter, and then power on the system. Hopefully your computer function well now.
Hello,Got the Dell Inspiron 15-7559Standard with 100 gb 2,5 inch HDD.Inserted a Kingston 2.5 inch HDD, works fine. Now days later I also inserted a M.2. Sata SSD. Both Disks work. But when selectign legacy boot and first selecting the second HDD it does not boot up the 2nd HDD. It gives an error message saying boot.msgr is missing.Tried :- Legacy mode, Secure mode on and off- Turning back to Uefi mode with secure mode on and off- Legacy mode and all kidns or boot orders. When I press F12 at startup and go to boot selection and select 2nd HDD, there is no problem, it boots up my 2.5 inch ssd no problem. Now I installed windows also on my M.2. Sata SSD and this one boots up fine in legacy mode. No issues at all. But also now when setting 2nd HDD first it still boots up the m.2. And once again manually selecting the 2nd HDD at startup works fine.I would like to use the 2.5inch ssd as boot device and the M.2. sata as storage.I have my reasons for this lol. :) Can anybody supply me with some advice/help?Thanks in advance!More replies
Hello, I'm having a small problem with my new Dell laptop.
I can't find the option where I could set my keyboard backlight to stay on constantly. It keeps falling asleep (turning off) after a short period of time. It is really annoying late in the evening as I always have to wake it up. Is there any way I could turn off the automatic sleep mode or atleast prolong it?
Thanks in advance :)
I recently bought inspiron 15 7559 i7 and found that the keyboard is bilingual.
It's little bit hard for me to type as the enter key is really small.
Would it be possible to get another keyboard (with different layout) and replace it?
I have brand new a Dell Inspiron 7559 (Core i5 model) which i received 2 days ago. The inbuilt speakers work fine. But when I plug in my earphones, the is sound only on the left side and a very faint sound on the right one. When I check the left and right sound in the sound properties, both the test sounds appear on the left side only. The earphones I am using are Klipsch R6. And here are no issues with the earphones since they work perfectly with my phone and other Dell Inspiron laptop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I was using my Dell Inspiron 7559 this weekend and suddenly the audio from my headphones quit. I had no problems in the first month I had the laptop, and the audio from the speakers still works fine. When I plug in the headphones the dialog box also doesn't show asking me about the audio device connected to the port. I know the headphones work on my phone, and I've tried deinstalling the Realtek audio driver and using the native driver. Nothing seems to work. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm grateful for any help!
Hello, my dell is getting some issues with its speakers, a kind of popping crackling noise, I've just registered two videos. After updating the bios it seems working better and is not as much as before. Should I rma my laptop or it's a driver issue? This is the first day that I have been using it.

Hello. It's a common problem with that model. See the Choppy/Skipping Audio FAQ for the solutions other owners have found. The 7559 section is the 1st section after the links at the top of the FAQ.

I have bought this laptop about 2 months ago. Since i bought it, I have noticed that it's performance is not what i should expect.
I mean, i can be in Google Chrome viewing a page, and in the moment i scroll using my mouse, the laptop like freezes for a milisecond and then continues. Same happens when playing videogames, i can be playing at low/ultra details, 60+ frames per second, but every now and then i get a frame drop and then it goes back to where it was before, it's super annoying and shouldn't be happening.
I always thought it was something with the game, that it was not well optimised but it seems to be the computer.
Things i have done:
1. I reinstalled Windows 10 using the software provided by Microsoft.
2. All my drivers are up to date
What could it be? my laptop specs are:
6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)]NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GDDR58GB Single Channel DDR3L 1600MHz (8GBx1)1TB (5400rpm) Hybrid HDD with 8GB Flash
All these things occur with the laptop plugged or not, it doesn't matter. Gaming, i have used Balanced and High Performance battery mode but i don't see any difference. This has happened to me for example in CS:GO, LoL, World of Warships, etc.
This is a benchmark i did with HDTune: http://imgur.com/a/wf68f
When you are saying that it is stuttering, does it do this all the time or is it something that will be working and then you get a quick stutter and then things return to normal? If this is happening, it's most likely just a point in time where the files that the processor needs to access files haven't been loaded into RAM yet. Your processor then has to wait for the HDD to load the file and continue on from there. Does Google Chrome do this all the time? Again, when it first boots or if there is something that computer has to load on the webpage such as Flash or anything like that, it can cause a temporary delay in the time that it is loading. If it's doing it constantly then it might be something to look at, but once in awhile, it's not uncommon for this to happen during loading. 5400RPM is slowest speeds for HDD and it can cause your computer to have to wait for loading here and there.2 more replies
As the title says how exactly do you achieve this?
I have an ISO Ran RUFUS 2.6
GPT Partition Scheme for UEFI
X Quick Format
X Create a bootable disk using
X Create Extended label and Icon Files
so the next part is the Kicker Dell did a number on their Bios and rather than using standard logic as we have done so many years just setting the boot order to "Boot USB" first, you "Only" have the option to create a "Boot Program"!!! so you select your USB Drive then which ever file you want it to boot I'm Assuming? So I tried selecting Setup, bootmgr.efi, and autorun with no results!
I get the secured boot error crap, turn that off and I get Legacy BIOS (that defeats the entire point) What the hell happened to Win95 Boot Discs and FDISK?
I am so frustrated with this garbage, I found out the hard way with Windows 10 and trying to nuke the SSD and put a clean install of 8.1 on it.
Any directions especially concerning Dell's wonderful BIOS would be appreciated!
Try setting BIOS back to default then press F12 when you boot. Select USB device from the UEFI section of the boot menu.0 more replies
My 7559 laptop is still relatively new but I feel like ever since an update in June it's been acting strange. It froze for no reason and wouldn't shut off when I held the power button. I had to unplug it and let the battery die. When I restarted everything was fine so I ran McAfee got nothing and moved on.
That said, ever since it can't seem to handle sleep mode as well as it use too. I was able to leave it on for a few weeks at a time and now I feel like I have to turn it off daily or it's Memory goes up. It's also frozen once since the initial freeze but that time it actually let me hold the power to turn it off.
I'm fairly certain I'm not the only one experiencing this. I think it's the update that caused it, but I don't really have any proof other than McAfee hasn't found anything. I've been keeping the task manager up to keep an eye out but the only things that are noticeable are System and Compressed memory and McAfee. Well those and Chrome but chrome's always been a hog.
I can deal with it for now, but I'm hoping there will be an update or something to fix it. I'm really just posting to see if anyone else has experienced this or something similar.
There is no need to wait until the battery runs down to turn off a frozen laptop nowadays. Simply hold down the power button until it shuts off. It will take 30-40 seconds.
You can uninstall updates if you think there is a bad update. Open Settings, Update, Advanced Options, View update History, Uninstall updates. Not all updates can be uninstalled but some can. You should also check the Event Viewer for clues as to what might be hanging up the computer.
I have just bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7559 and it just arrived this morning. However, when I try to play any sound the speaker starts to crackle heavily. The only solution that works is plugging in headphones and unplugging them which seems to work. But once you shut down the computer, and turn it back on, this problem still exists. I have already updated the realtek hd audio driver as well as the bios. I would hate to have to return the laptop as it works flawlessly otherwise.
Install latest Realtek driver FROM REALTEK SITE, not from Dell site.
That Realtek driver ll have an advanced option to disable audio power management. That's it.
First things first, Dell Inspiron 1501 NOT 1505. Ok? Now, this computer is pretty used, and long lived somewhat at 3 years, one battery. Last year, it completely accpeted no charge. I am on it, using AC power. I wouldn't mind AC power too much, but the power cord providing AC power, is sooooo mucked up. (will it stay in long enough to post this message???) I COULD buy a new battery (100$!!?!?), yet my dad has no job ATM. Any suggestions? PLEASE!
If the Charger is in bad shape, dell sells the factory replacement charger for $59. here http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&mfgpid=186167&chassisid=8452
I have to date had no problems with this laptop but this problem is trying my patience! I normally have the laptop plugged into full power via socket so its rare I use it by battery alone. However last week battery did run out and i recharged it and it has been operating absolutley fine. However the battery light will not stop flashing amber 4 times then a green flash which holds for a couple seconds. It will continue flashing like this all the time I have it on and plugged into the mains or whether I use it via battery power only. It will still be flashing for a few minutes once I have shut the laptop down completely also. I can not find anything helpful on the web so I really really need your help before I end up throwing it out a window!
Software and security is all up-to-date, and there are no other issues with it - please help!!!
The light should stay solid green until the battery starts to run out then it flashes amber, from what you say it sounds as though one of the cells is faulty and as such isnt charging fully.
I got flickring problem only while playing games in my laptop.
But,i alreday tried lots of way to fix this problems still i can't fix the flicker problem
I changed the power plan to High performance

I got this laptop recently and ran into an issue when connecting to external displays, in all games I am unable to set my video settings to 60Hz when choosing to project my display to the external screen only. If I duplicate the screen then I have no issue, but I want to be able to close the laptop lid and have 60Hz as an option, otherwise everything shows up as 59Hz which causes stuttering and flickering. The weird thing is that in Windows my refresh rate shows up as 60Hz at 1920x1080 but when launching any game 59Hz is the highest I can go to when set to display as "second screen only" in Windows 10. Please let me know what I could to fix this, and if it is not clear let me know.
Recently I bought the Dell Inspiron 7559 (gaming one).
It has the option to add a SSD drive. I bought a m.2 SSD 256gb drive from Plextor.
See link for the version. The BIOS and Windows both don't recognize the SSD.
I have put it in and out several times. Updated BIOS / Resetted BIOS. It just won't recognize it.
Do I have to tweak any settings in BIOS for the SSD slot to "activate"?
I thought this was a plug and play thing. How can I get this to work?
Note: I also have my HDD still plugged cuz it has everything on it (windows etc).
I want to convert windows to the SSD if it CONNECTS EVER.
Help would be appreciate SOOO MUCH.
Thanks in regards.
That's a PCIe SSD -- this system supports mSATA (SATA 6G), not PCIe. You'll need to exchange the drive for an M.2 SATA/SATA6G version.3 more replies
When I installed windows it automatically found a driver for both the nvidia 960m and intel hd 530. I went to nvidia site and installed the latest drivers even though they warned it may cause instability. When I realized things were going wrong with the screen tearing I immediately uninstalled and installed the correct video drivers from the website here. However I am still having problems with screen tearing horizontally across the whole screen at least with videos playing through steam. At the time of the screen tearing I did have my laptop connected to my 1080p tv via hdmi. Any ideas? Do I need to reinstall windows completely to get rid of the newest nvidia driver I installed?

Hi, I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 7559 for school, my first laptop ever. It took me about 6 months to finally decide on a laptop, and I'm very happy with it...it's beautiful. But, I've had two problems with the display. First, there is some slight yellow discoloration on the right half, not a big deal, just my ocd, probably just some backlight bleed or something. But the big issue is that the screen brightness flickers constantly. I can only really notice it on the lower brightnesses, but I use those so its a problem. I've tried EVERYTHING. Tons of driver fiddling, power option fiddling. I cant tell if it flickers in the bios screen or lcd bist, but I've disabled both NVidia and intel HD graphics drivers and no matter what I do, it still flickers. This makes me think that this Is a hardware issue. If anyone has some insight, I would really appreciate it. Should I send it in for repair, or just wait a bit as I read online somewhere that the lcd backlight needs to "settle in" for it to stop flickering with takes a decent amount of screen on time. Sorry for the long post, but this is my first pc and I'm a little bit picky about the function of my things. Thanks.More replies

Guys I messed up real bad... I saved up money for a year to buy this laptop and finally yesterday ordered it in ebay, and afterwards going through the details I noticed it didn't say that it had the gtx 960m video card but rather intel HD graphics built in. The price is the same as the other versions of the laptop with the gtx on eBay and I just happened to be a complete moron not checking twice as I should've and order this particular version http://www.ebay.com/itm/272181768757?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
My question is does it even exist? Dell 7559 without the gtx 960m? It's the same price as the ones with the gtx video card.
I don't even know what to do...
When you are buying from online Market, you have to double check you are getting an functional complete legit products, and read reviews from many sources before buying a specific products.
In your case, Dell Inspiron 15 7559 was an "Manufacture Refurbished" of returned Inspiron 15 to the factory according to the description.
Thus, read carefully next time, as refurbished are likely "tested" to function as intended. From the page on Ebay you have brought, it might have been a bad buy, so you got rip off for the wrong product if you did not get your refund. Ebay in my view is not too safe, it more of a trade market versus places where you can buys computer officially. Thus this problem is between you and the seller.
PS: Yeah most I15 7559 model should have Geforce 960M graphic as detail here >http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15-7559-laptop/pd?ref=PD_OC<.
While playing CS:GO, my laptop froze and won't shutdown with holding down the power button, had to open up the back panel and pull the battery connector to shut it down. This is the first time it happened, had the laptop since Feb.
Is it related to cpu temperature management? Ambient temperature in my room is kinda high lately would peak to 87 degrees C using HWMonitor from 80 normally.
Any feedback/replies to this post is pretty much appreciated! Just want to know what to avoid to keep it from happening again.
My problem is ... no, not quite so, my PROBLEM is Windows 10 Anniversary Update gets downloaded, installed and failed again and again. When it goes through Windows Update Center everything goes well but finally after a reboot I get a notification that the system couldn't install the update. No other information or error codes provided. After that Windows Update Center finds the same Anniversary Update and everything goes in circle. I called Microsoft Support three times with different engineers but with the same final result - the problem still unsolved. I used MediaCreationTool utility as well. With this utility the whole process goes well but finally I get popup window that says "Error occurred while installing update". When I tried to reinstall Windows 10 from the image created by MediaCreationTool I got error code 0xd0000034 (finally!!! something I can use to find a solution !!!), but looking through the Internet for this code didn't help to resolve this. Any other updates are installed with no issues. The Problem only with Anniversary Update.

My 6 month old Dell Inspiron 7559 has starting coming apart from around the left side hinge. The keyboard plate is being separated from the bottom chassis and can see inside. Dell support say its damage or wear and tear. Really!. The laptop has been at home and not moved beyond 5 feet for the last 6 months. There is NO damage and even a microscopic inspection will not reveal any damage. Wonder how UK support brushed me off even after sending photos and saying not covered by warranty. Had been a Dell customer for last 12 years and this is my 4th Dell and definitely the last one. Cannot stand a company like thisMore replies
Hi all I recently got the i7 version of this laptop and noticed that the speakers rattle a bit when vocals are being played and the headphone jack makes everything sound like it has REVERB added to it...??? It sounds like I'm in a chamber. I updated everything, anything I can do or no?
1 week now. Anything or should I call? This is terrible.2 more replies
I bought a new Dell Inspiron 15 7000 - 7559 core i7 with touch display about a 4 days ago. I've noticed the screen flickers on low brightness level. (below 30%).
If you have any solution for this please let me know.
I have the Dell Inspiron 7559 (non-touch) and was able to install the Windows 10 Anniversary Update today after a long session of sitting though Windows Updates. Everything seemed to work fine, except that I had to uninstall my antivirus (Symantec Endpoint Protection). No biggie, I'll just reinstall it after the update. I think it also said that the Intel WiDi drivers had to be uninstalled as well, which it did automatically, but that was all that happened during that process.
So I attempt to do so, and I was able to install it via the .msi file (the .exe file wouldn't work for some reason), and the computer begins to reboot. Constantly. The laptop would freeze somewhere from when the login screen appears to a couple minutes after that. It would hang for a couple minutes, then reboot. It rebooted enough times for it to go to the Windows 10 recovery options. I just told it to restart so that I could tell it to boot into safe mode on the next bootup (shift-click restart when I got inside Windows). It works, and I then tell it to boot into safe mode.
Now my laptop won't boot at all. It won't go past the Dell logo. I can enter the BIOS and the boot options menu, as well as load the ePSA diagnostics tool and have the tests pass (no errors). But it won't get past the Dell logo after this. It doesn't restart, flash lights or anything like that. Just hangs on the Dell logo.
How can I resolve this issue?
This is a recent problem I ran into with my new 7559. About a week ago I did a factory reset because the speakers were having a problem, and it worked fine for a couple days. Afterwards it would go into this flickering loop after it would wake up from sleep. This makes it so anytime I'm not using the laptop I basically have to shut it down, which really ***. I've posted a link of what the issue looks like. I ran the dell hardware test and my computer passed, and I also updated my drivers so I don't know what else to do. Thank you to anyone who can shed some light on what's happening.
I have exactly the same problem... :/2 more replies
I have two issues. the first one i have seen it in another post but i didn't see some kind of a solution. I have the latest drivers in my inspiron 7559 and i have this issues:
1) My laptop fans are awake long time after i quit any game. Especially GPU demanding games. If i press the sleep button and i wake it up again fans doesn't awake up again. This is a strange issue. i have the 1.1.7 BIOS version.
2) My laptop for some reason is getting freeze at any situation. Last 2 weeks happened 3 times. One time happened in youtube and the other 2 in EDGE browser, and i couldnt move nothing. Neither the cursor.
I dont have any other problems with my laptop. All seems to be fine. But i dont know with these issues i start to think some negatives thoughts...,
Any help please?
Over the last 2 days I have been having a problem as indicated in the title of this post. The fault has rectified itself 3 times, but again today, it is back to "battery plugged in, not charging." As I am running the laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium; 32 bit) on the adapter without problems, I assume that the adapter itself may not be faulty.
I also have a Dell Inspiron 630M laptop running Windows 7. Can I safely use that adapter with the Vista laptop, without causing damage to the Vista ? If it is safe to do so, and the battery on the Vista starts charging, then it would indicate that the Vista adapter/charger has some kind of fault.
Hoping someone can give me some guidance. Thanks.
If the adapter has the same plug and the same or higher power rating, you can swap them.
Check to see whether the 1545 recognizes the AC adapter or whether it shows unknown (F2 at powerup). If it shows unknown with two different adapters, you have a bad power jack or a bad mainboard.
I bought the laptop mentioned in the title, the Inspiron 17 7559, a little under 3 months ago for school as well as some gaming. A couple days before I spoke with tech support the cpu fan (fan on left side if you're looking at the top of the laptop and are in front of it) began making a horrible grinding/squealing noise.A little background: before going to school, I spent a decade as field technician on both military advanced electronic systems and production-class robotics systems. So I opened the back panel just to glance at the fan, see if maybe there was a glaring physical abnormalities, as the fan was clearly grinding on something and when it kicked into high would be scraping fast and hard enough to produce this noise.
I open the back cover, a screw falls out from its happy little home (which is, needless to say, both Not A Good Thing and Ominously Foreboding), followed by the shorn threading which had come from another screw. Also, three or four screws were VERY loose. Which explained why the case had begun to separate near where the monitor pivots attach to the case. Completely structural screws. I tightened those up a bit, but didn't mess with any screws in the component housing area, as thos can have specific torque settings and such, and overtightening can do real damage. As for the fan, its sitting a millimeter or so lower in its housing than the other, and even the slight spinning it did while I t... Read more
Hello, I'm having trouble with the video, at least 3 times a day I have to reboot the laptop, because the windows of the bar disappears ...
I have tried to unital and install all video drive, windows update... What I can do?
Can someone help me with this problem? So I just received my brand new Dell Inspiron 15 3000 and the battery is not charging. It says it's "Plugged In, Charging" but it never goes up and stays at 0%. At first I thought I just need to plug it in for several hours but it's been 5 hours now and still the battery stays at 0%. I tried running the BIOS Diagnostics just to see if there are problems and there's none. The battery status says everything is running normally and the Battery State says it's Idle. I tried draining the flea power several times, removing and reattaching the battery, but to no avail. I'm getting really frustrated and I'm really close to throwing this laptop back to Dell.
I read somewhere that I have to update the BIOS but it won't update unless the battery is charged at least 10%. Someone also suggested that Windows 8.1 is causing the problem. I haven't even started using this laptop and it's already giving me a *** ton of problems. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks guys! :)
My Dell laptop will charge and operate for several hours off a new 6000 MAh battery but the icon in the tray inidcates that it is always on line power. Although both the CD and floppy drive work when installed in a bay the system not indicate that they are present. I have updated the bios from Dell but that does not help. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Still under warranty, isn't it? Call Dell for a repair trip.
So I bought a Dell Inspiron i7559-2512BLK off Amazon, it's completely new and have been using it for a couple of days onlyI tried to update everything possible, windows updates and drivers as wellNow the problem is, when I game on it, my CPU fries ! it averages between 80-90 and even maxes up to 98-99 !! (Room temperature is not bad .. AC turned on making the room ~25c)My GPU however stays pretty cool, never exceeds 75c at all I don't feel like the fans are actually working hard, cannot hear them, so if there's a way to check for the fans, I would appreciate it (I did test it with the offline diagnosis -F12 Boot- and they passed the test just fine)
And any help in general would be appreciatedPS : the choice of getting it to the service center is not available as it's bought in the US and I'm in the middle east currently
In a recent visit with my sister, I noticed she did not have a battery installed in her Inspiron 600m laptop. After I demonstrated the advantages of having battery power available at times, we ordered a battery from batteries.com which arrived a few days later.
Installed the battery, left it to charges overnight and had the same indications as was present with an older battery. Control Panel/Power Options/Power Meter Tab indicates "No battery Preasent" ????
The battery LED flashes Red-Red-Green ??? the computer definately does NOT operate on battery power.
Any ideas out there????

My Dell Inspiron 1525 battery died 4 days ago. I am going to buy a new one. If I buy it from Dell it will cost me about $150, but if I buy it from Amazon it will be $50. So do you recommend me to buy it from Amazon, and if I buy it from there is it going to affect my system or the motherboard of the system.
Please help as soon as you can

Is there a way to use a latitude battery in a inspiron. The batteries are the same ratings. I have 3 latitude batteries that I would like to use in a Inspiron.
I put the batteries in but they will not charge.
Go here: http://www.canada-battery.ca/laptop-batteries/dell.htm
Be a detective - check out your model comp and see if the same battery fits it as the Latitude the batteries were for originally.
have not used battery in about eight months. charged it, took to library for wifi, computer guy there worked on it to get it to take the wifi, ok. got home, plugged it in and about hour later used it and the area of computer near the battery was hotter than i ever felt. took out battery and heat gone. library guy said nothing about a hot sensation. (computer is not one on list of exploding batteries!)
upgraded from 512kb to 2gb memory. could that cause it to be hotter? and just curious but not enough to start a new thread: would the memory upgrade have anything to do with the difficulty in getting wifi to work? perfect last summer but today no detectable wifi until the library guru worked his magic.
thanks for your help.

Have an older DELL 4100 with a new battery. New battery because the "old" one would cause the machine to "lock-up". Only way to fix this was to remove battery from bay and run on plug-power. Sort of defeats the Notebook PC thing. New battery does the same thing in the battery bay, but 4100s can take the battery in either bay. When I do this, the machine runs but the mouse is "herky-jerky... basically unusable.

Ok, I wanna see if I get a different answer. My laptop is about a year old and when I went to turn it on yesterday morning it wouldn't turn on without the powerpack plugged in. So I plugged it in and it worked. But the battery light is blinking non-stop(orange warning light). I took out the battery and put it back in and nothing changed. I pushed the battery life button on the bottom of the battery itself and there are 5 lights but only the 1st,middle, and last light, lights up and blinks. What is the problem? Is it a dead battery?

I am guessing that there are some bad cells in the battery, If its a year old try ringing Dell direct and ask them, it may still be a warrantied item.
However if you bought it second hand then Dell wont deal with it and your only course is to buy a new battery.
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop that is about 3 years old. Recently, the battery will only charge to 35%. It then will stop charging though it remains plugged in. I have tried letting the battery die completely and recharging it. Again, it will charge, but only to 35%. Is this indicative of the battery being old?
See this link:
The battery charging light is flashing orange and green which according to the helpfile means that 'the battery is too hot to start charging'. I have switched the machine off for half an hour - it is definitely cold, but this light continues to flash and the battery will not charge. The laptop is about 8 months old and battery use has been fairly light.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
it sounds like a defective battery. if the laptop is only about 8 months old then it should still be under warranty. you should contact dell about the problem and get a replacement battery.
Well while running Dell's maintenance software it showed that my battery was failing hmm. I have never used the laptop w/o it being plugged into the Ac charger and when used probably under a hour a day. It was new in 2013.
Does anyone know how Dell determines how the status of a battery is? Perhaps its just how old the battery is? I doubt that Dell's software actually has a Volt/Amp load tested built into the laptop??
With that all said if I do have to buy a battery who would handle the best bang for the buck? I see that the prices are all over the place ;-)
Hi i have a Dell Inspiron 1100 that i use as a secondary computer. Just recently i formatted the hard drive and re-installed windows. It was fine for a while, and it still is, but recently the battery light flashes as if it is ultra low... Green, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, green. It only is supposed to do this if it is really low battery. i can't even tell if it is charging cause that light sequence never stops. your help is appreciated!
oh by the way the battery is fine... i have a cheap 4000 mAh battery that will last about an hour.
I have a Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop. I suddenly started getting a message that my previously fully charged battery was not and was dangerously low. Unclear if the problem was battery or machine or both, I substitued a charged battery from my aunt's Inspiron 2500 (compatible) and put the dubious battery in her unit to charge. next morning the old battery was still not charged, the fresh one did not work in my laptop, and when returned to her laptop now read 14% and charging (apparently discharged in my laptop overnight).
I don't want to buy a new battery if the problem is the laptop. how do I figure out the source of the problem & the solution?
Sounds like your AC/charge cord has seen better days...either that or the pin connector for AC on the lappy is bent damaged.
Well my girlfriend has a Dell inspiron e1505 and she told me that she has been having a major problem with it for awhile. Her battery will a lot of the time refuse to charge, meaning right when she unplugs it, it shuts off. However, sometimes it will charge, but when it does this it last for an hour and half. But most of the times it does not do this. She has told me she looked up the problem and many people experience this problem and that even if you buy a new battery it still will happen. She has yet to ever replace her battery and i know she has had it for more then a year now. But before i go out and buy a battery for her what do you guys think could be wrong with it?
The battery !
Hi there, my sister has a Dell Inspiron (3521), which she bought brand new about 2 years ago. About 3 months ago her battery stopped working, as soon as the power adapter came out, or was unplugged, the laptop would instantly shut off. She bought a new battery but had the same problem.
She took it to one of those computer repair shops and was charged lmost £200 and it's the same now as when she put it in.
When I switch it on I get a warning saying: Warning: The battery cannot be identified. The system will be unable to charge this battery.
The battery is the same as the one that was in it when she bought it, so I doubt that that is the problem.
Could it be a driver problem or something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a Dell and can say I have left it on for long periods of time, sometimes until the power is drained and it shuts down. Recently I have noticed the power slowing down as I have fully charged it multiple times. It used to max out at 2 hours but has slowly made it's way to 20 minutes. I also found myself recentlyangling the AC cord in the back to keep a steady charge. The cord became harder to connect over time as well. Before you know it my CPU was dead but my AC power cord remained green. Is there a chance my battery is dead and needs replaced or I need a better AC pwer cord Connection. Or could it be something worse?
The DC Jack (where you plug in the AC adapter) may be broken inside the laptop. The battery may also be worn out
After a year, my DELL INSPIRON 600m battery does not charge. The battery indicator flashes red. I found out that my battery is one of the product recalled so I purchased new one from Dell. I got it last week, installed it but I still had the same problem. My laptop still run with AC so I don't think there's a problem with the charger. Can somebody help me with my problem?
My name is Rick and I work with Todd who posted above. Sounds like the part of the motherboard that connects to the battery may be bad. If the system is working on AC power but not battery, and you are using a new battery. Most likely your motherboard will need to be replaced. You can check to see if your system is still covered by putting the service tag here:
I have had my dell inspiron e1505 for about 4 years now. I have gone through two batteries, but actually currently have the original battery back in my computer because it lasted longer than the replacement.
However, my computer will no longer charge the battery....
My friend has the exact same computer so I have done a few tests...
For help in communication here is some annotation:
Power cord A
Power cord B
I put my battery A in her computer B...and her computer B charged my battery A with her power cord B, but not with my power cord A.
I tried to use her power cord B on my computer A, but my battery A still would not charge...
I put her battery B, into my computer A, but it would not charge with EITHER power cord A or B....
So...I think I have come to a conclusion that something is broke inside my computer....
Is there something on the motherboard that chatges that battery?
Or, could it possibly be something easier to fix...
I am a student studying abroad in Rome right now, and computer parts aren't really readily available....

My Dell Inspiron 6000 wont run on it's battery. The battery says it's charged, and 100%. The battery charge indicator on the battery is 100%. I've checked the power cord and it will run the laptop without the battery connected. However when the A/C power is disconnected and the laptop jumps to battery power, it immediately dies. I've checked and updated the BIOS, and everything checks out...any suggestions would be helpful.

My dell inspiron 1520 says no battery detected . and i also noticed that the fan is not working.the problem happened just 4 days ago.when my laptop was totally dischharged 2 times in a row. Then first it didnt charge more than 40%.then increases a little bit to 43%.and today when i was using it on battery power and it showed warning that 11 min left i shut it down .when i restarted with AC power critical battery charge led was blinking and showing only 29% charged and charging. but the charge remained 29%.and now it is showing no battery detected.if i disconnect the AC charger the laptop immediately turns off. My laptop is abt 18 months old but never gave any problem before. i opened the battery and again reattached it .but nothing changed.my warranty was 1 year. . can someone tell me what to do??
edit: i have noticed that bios is loading very slowly sometimes at startup now.
sounds like the battery has failed, 18 months isnt bad in the world of laptops.
I have a Inspiron Ultrabook 14z which was giving me a battery backup of 5+Hrs about 2 weeks back. I did not use the laptop for 2 weeks and today the laptop is not turning on. When I plugged in the adapter and tried there is a black screen with an error "The battery has permanently failed..." The system is just out of warranty but it is hardly used for 100 hrs.
Dell service center said they would need about INR 1.5k to look into the matter. INR 7k to replace the battery and if things did not work, then another INR 14k to replace the motherboard and see if it helps.
Anyone has a smarter idea? Please help me out.
Good day, Thanks for writing to us.
The battery removal in the machine is a little complicated.
When you get the message The battery has permanently failed, does it gives you an option to press f1 or f2 ?? If yes press f1 to continue boot up.
Do you have another adapter to try?
When the machine stays blank , are you able to toggle caps or num lock (do they respond?).
Also you can try power up the machine with 1 memory at a time (if there are two), to rule out memory issues.
If you wish to try remove the battery , you can watch this video for instructions ..
Please bear in mind , any damages during the battery removal process Dell will not be responsible. Its at your discretion to remove the battery and power on the machine without it.
I have been using my Inspiron 1300 for several years with no problems. Just recently, I had to leave an application running when I went to bed. The computer was on battery power and at some point must have died. In the morning when I plugged the adapter in it came on with the battery status lamp giving groups of 5 orange flashes ie 5 flashes - pause - 5 flashes etc. The battery would not recharge. The computer still worked fine from the adapter. I searched the internet and could not find a matching circumstance, nor reason for this failure. So I purchased a new 6-cell battery. The new battery works fine (though I don't think the life is as good as the old one was when new). However I have a new problem.
I now tend to use the computer on battery until it is low and then recharge it. (I got this method from an internet search, that it is better for overall battery life)). So this is the sequence of events.
I use the computer for a session until the battery icon on the screen is on its last third. I then plug in the charger. The computer may still be on, or I might switch it off. In either case, when I return later the status light is continuously flashing orange. If I now switch on the computer the battery icon indicates full charge. If I remove the adapter, wait a few seconds and then plug it in again, the status light blinks green once every 7 seconds or so.
Any ideas of what is going on?
Im running Windows Vista. The original battery wouldnt hold charge and could only use while AC adaptor was plugged in. Since then I bought a non original replacement battery and the system does not recognise it. I have tried closing the UAC and downloading the BIOS off Dell Support but for some reason the battery is still not charging and the battery indicator flashes from red to green.... On start up it displays that it does not recognise the battery and to continue have to hit the f1 key. I have also tried reseating the battery but to no avail. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Does anyone know where I can find a manual showing how to open a Dell Inspiron 4150 and replace the CMOS battery? And - I see batteries sold without the battery connector. Is the original connector reusable? Is it soldered to the battery leads?
Try this link:
right guys hi again
new problem for you this time
ive recently had the iamfamous.dll virus on my laptop and it had deleted many files including startup files
i got my dad to fix it and now it is working fine
im not that good with computers but do have some knowledge in them.
i am using a dell inspiron 1300 and in the bottom right corner where the date and time is, there should be a battery icon telling me how much i have left, this isnt there and is replaced by an 'on ac power' icon. even when i unplug the charger the icon remains there.
i desperately need the battery icon again and don't know what to do, i am running xp professional and have been through the control panel and power options and cant find a solution.
if anyone can give me some advice or point me in the right direction please post
You might be able to handle it yourself by going to the Dell support site, entering your Service Tag number, then downloading and installing the latest BIOS, and all of the drivers, one at a time. You will not need all of the downloads as some are for other configurations, but the computer will decide what it needs. One of those downloads will likely fix the problem you report.
I recently bought a new battery, thinking my old one which was a refurbished battery just packed up as it was on the way out. When i put new battery in the power meter reads 52%. The battery is not charging however! When the power plug is pulled out the battery light does not come on! The battery is a brand new 9cell, so im sure it is not the battery. I suspect this is why refurbished battery died, or has it? Any thoughts suggestions would be appreciated as im not so savvy at the tech stuff!
The computer has been running abit slower recently after upgrading memory 3 months ago to 2gb, so wondering if its caught something! I have avast protection. Cheers for ya help!

My laptop won't power on. When I press the power button the yellow power light flashes for a second & then nothing. Someone told me that it might be the CMOS battery since I've never replaced it. If any knows I would like to know where it is located & what exactly is involved with replacing it. I have removed every screw on the bottom but can only open halfway. I don't know what is preventing it to open. Hope someone can help. If it sounds like a serious problem then it might not be worth fixing. Thanx

I bought a new battery for my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. It is a 9 cell battery (supposedly) and it charges fine....shows 99% charged and 5 hours usage on power meter when fully charged. It works great for about 3 hours usage and then just shut down (no warnings shown). When I put onto mains power, it shows it is 28% charged and has around 1 and a half hours usage left but will not "use this last bit of power". It will not operate computer at this until i recharge it again and it seems fine again until the same thing happens. Any ideas on actions?
Even though the battery is new you might have a bad battery. not charging fully or at least showing there is charge left but in reality isnt might be a sign for you to go and get a replacement. also make sure you are using name brands and not a knock off ...ex. Dell needs an actual certified Dell battery ...not a dell compatible...although these compatibles are cheaper they cause the problems such as you are describing.
My Dell has been acting up pretty recently (6 months old and still under warranty), and the battery does not charge past 80%. Once it get's near the 80% charge, it immediately fills up to 100%.
I've remembered using the laptop for more than 6 hours under moderate use but now it barely lasts 2 hours.
Please give me some advice because I'm really dependent on this laptop.
You have 6 or 8 cells battery. If 6 it's normall. Should work about 2-max 3 hours when new. On 8 cells could work till 5 h.
Producers give only 6 months of warranty on bateries
This might be a stupid question but does the cmos battery imbedded in the mobo of my Inspiron 7500 as stressed out by Dell Tech support?
I have stripped it down to pc card heat sink attached to mobo attached to bottom casing and I still couldn't find any exposed battery that I could pull out and replace.
Thanks in advance!
many CMOS batteries in laptops are hard connected. You need it professionally replaced.
Hey all, I have someones laptop that I cannot seem to get working.
Heres the scenario:
When plugged into the wall the computer works fine, and the battery shows that it is charging and is at 99%.
If I unplug it the computer will not boot up at all, even with the battery saying its fully charged in windows AND the LED indecator on the battery itself saying that it is full.
Now I read that some of these batteries have been recalled due to a defect, so im wondering:
A: Give me some suggestions on what I can do to get the battery working.
B: Try to get the battery replaced by dell via the recall, I checked the number on the battery and it qualifies for the recall, so this may be my whole problem. Clicky here for the link for recall
Anyways hope to hear from someone, im off to work so I'll check this tonight have a good day!
If your battery qualifies for the recall, DO IT!!!! And if the battery is displaying 99% when plugged in, and not moving up to 100% after 5-10 mins, then there is definately something wrong with the battery. You may want to run the battery calibration utility, which may reset that, but I would still go through with the recall and get a brand new battery....
