Inspiron 7559 Power Status Light Blinks

Q: Inspiron 7559 Power Status Light Blinks

Just since yesterday my six week old Inspiron 7559 sometimes fails to start and when it does this, the Power and Battery Status Light blinks, two times amber then seven times white, repeats forever. What does this 2/7 blink mean? Is it a clue to what is wrong? The laptop does start sometimes if I hold it at an angle. Makes me think something is not connected properly inside. Any ideas?

A: Inspiron 7559 Power Status Light Blinks

Hi,
System LEDs are not Diagnostic Indicators. I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check for issue resolution.

Switch off the computer.
Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
Remove the battery from the computer.
Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
Then connect back all the peripherals and check for issue resolution.

Also, I would suggest you reseat a few components, like memory, hard drive and optical drive and see if that makes a difference. In the link below punch in the system service tag or express service code and you can access the user manual for removing and reseating components. http://dell.to/18r60nI Please let me know if this helps.

When you press the power button, the power light goes on steady, the HDD indicator blinks once, then the system shuts off. Never get anything on the screen.

Once in a great while, the system will actually boot into Windows and works fine.

The battery is charged, the charger is good.

I have tried removing RAM, HDD and can't get into BIOS even, unless it is one of those off chances the system stays on.

Could it be something is shorting out? I've tried taking out the battery and unplugging it and holding the power button to discharge, but no luck.

A:Dell Inspiron 17R Power Light on, HDD Blinks, then Shuts Off

It sounds like the computer isn't getting past the POST (Power On Self Test) where is looks at all the peripherals to be sure there isn't problem.

You have pulled the hdd and re-seated it, removed the RAM and re-seated it.  But if there is more than one RAM module you should remove one of the two modules (assuming that there are only two) to see if you have a bad module.

Who is the manufacturer of the hdd?

Hi,
I picked up this Alienware 5700 off ebay to hopefully refurbish for my son but I'm new at this and still learning and so this thing has me baffled. The laptop is in pristine condition but shows no signs of life. When I plug in the power supply the green light on the power supply goes from solid green to blinking rapidly to the point you can barely see it. To me that would mean a short somewhere right ? If so where ? Has anyone else ever had experience with something like this ? I just don't want to go buying a new battery for a laptop that maybe fried already. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:No power, no lights but green light on power supply blinks rapidly

Remove the laptops battery and try the AC power only. If the green light does the same, it still could only be a bad AC adapter, or at worst, a shorted laptop motherboard

My computer was down when I came back from lunch and could not get it to come back on.  If I hold the power button down for about 7 seconds it blinks orange but there is not noise from the fan coming on or post beep.  Also the green light on the back is not on either. All of the other equipment sharing the same power strip come on but not the desktop so it is not the power strip.  I also tried to set it up in another office on a completely different circuit and still does the same thing. What should I try next?

A:OptiPlex 790 Wont power on power light blinks amber

Which form factor, desktop, mini-tower, small form, ultra-small form?
From the (desktop) manual: Blinking amber light indicates a problem with the system board.
Are any of the 4 diagnostic LEDs on when it won't boot? ,They're on the front of the PC next to the power button. Look up error codes in the manual.
Possible power supply failure if the green light is off on the back. Can you try a different power cord? What happens if you push the power supply diagnostic button on back of PC next to that (green) power light?

Aloha: Pavilion 17-f001dx (Windows 10) Upon plugging in  the AC Adapter, the laptop power led (White) blinks once, then goes dark.  Pressing the start button, the  Laptop will not boot, and the same LED blinks 3x's. This behaviour applies when the battery is inserted or not.  Also, Hard Reset done with no change.  No other LED (Caps) blinks.  Also verified both sticks of RAM with no errors (used another laptop).  I could not find any reference to this issue.  i have already read the HP guide "Troubleshooting LED Blink Codes..."  Please note, only LED that blinks is the Power LED.  Caps LED does not blink at all.  I have also verified the output of the AC Adapter (voltage only).  The weird thing is this,  every so often when plugging in the laptop, the Power LED will light up (white) and stay lit, then the laptop will boot with no issue.  I have been able to recreate this with the battery inserted or not.  I am at a loss.  Could the Power Jack be intermittent and cause an issue?  Mahalo (thank you ) for any assistance!

Daughter last used laptop on battery power and ran id down completely until computer shut off. She plugged in the power cord and it would not come on when pressing the power button.  Laptop was plugged in overnight and this morning same issue - the power light just blinks five times when you press the power button. This is the same behaviour whether plugged into power or not. I've tried holding down the power button. Tried with battery removed and A/C power, but then no light comes on at all.  I've tried removing the battery and A/C power, holding the power button down for 30 seconds, then install battery and plug in A/C power, but no difference.  I tried a different A/C power adapter and no difference. Any ideas?

Not sure if i'm in the right place, but just wanted to see if I could get any help with this problem. I "tried" to turn on my computer the other day and nothing happened, the power light just blinked an amber color with no noise or anything. I know that if it buzzes or makes a sound it can be determined what the problem is, but it does nothing. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Thanks

When I sign out of my user profile on my 2 Acer laptops and then click shut down, the computer goes black indicating that it is shutting down. However, the power light blinks until it shuts down completely. I don't know if it's a hardware issue or what but when hibernation is disabled, it tells you its shutting down and the power light doesn't blink (instead it shuts down normally). This is not a UEFI BIOS, it is a Legacy BIOS therefore it doesn't have the option to enable or to disable fast startup. This occurs on my Acer Aspire 5250 and Acer Aspire 5749 laptops. My Acer desktop doesn't do this, but it has a UEFI BIOS.

Can anyone understand what I am saying?

Also, if someone understands can they please help me with this issue?

A:Power Light blinks before Shutting Down

It could also be the chipset driver. Although, I don't know what version chipset I have.

Hi there,
I have a brand new (2 days old) Inspiron 15 7559. Today I went to turn it on, and it refused to power up. The backlit keyboard came on, and I noticed that the front LED would come on, then after awhile it would start blinking orange.
I've tried it without the battery, just on AC mains; and just on the battery and the result is the same.
I tried looking around for some information but haven't found much related to my issue. Any suggestions or easy fixes? Or is it something that needs to taken into Dell?
Thanks in advance!

My G72 will not start.  I have tried all the tricks for unplugging power cable, battery, holding the button down, etc. I have pulled RAM, verified power to the system board using a voltmeter.... No matter what I try, when I put the battery in and hook it to power, then press the power button, the AC power LED blinks three times.  It does this if the power is not hooked up; it does not do it if the battery's removed (with AC power). I have tried two separate AC adapters, known working ones. I have voltage at the system board, so I don't think it's the power connector.  The system responds only with the 3 blinks when I hit the power switch. What do the three blinks mean? I can find nothing online specific, and it's out of warranty.

I doubt anyone here remembers, but I made a topic here last month regarding a laptop I was attempting to fix. Basically, someone spilt soda over it and tried to repair it, but after that failed he gave it to me and told me that if I could fix it, I could keep it.

At that point, the problem was when I turned it on, the screen would stay black, but I could hear noises and the power light slowly flashed. I noticed that there was no memory in it though, and since the issues seemed to reflect that, I decided to buy some ram and hope that it was going to be my only problem.

Well, unfortunatly, it wasn't. Now the problem has changed that the power light flashes faster than before, but the screen still remains blank.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be?

EDIT: On a second test, it appers that the flashing is the same speed as before. Also, when I attempt to turn it on, the ligh will stay on for a second and I can almost hear the laptop starting up, but that stops when the light begins to blink.

Hey all,

Weird one here. Got myself a new graphics card the other day, upgrading from a Radeon x1650 pro, which died after 4 odd years of good service, to the Radeon HD5450, and everything seems to have gone successful except for since installing it, when I press the power button to boot, the PC's power light will blink 7 times and then boot up normally on the 8th blink.

I was kinda in 2 minds about whether or not to troubleshoot this if I'm honest, but figured I might as well in case it could be causing some kinda damage. I can't see any error's appearing, nothing in event logs, as far as I can tell the PSU should be more than capable, everything seems to be performing as expected, it's just these 8 blinks before the system starts to boot.

I've reseated the memory and Graphics and tried booting with a few non-essential components disconnected, which fixed it for the first boot, but the issue reappeared for every boot after that.

As well as my listed components I've also got a PCI NIC (D-link DGE-528T), wireless KBoard + Mouse, USB Wireless Adapter, a SATA DVD RW and a couple of fans (1x80mm, 1x92mm and 1xLED120mm)

...any ideas?

Cheers,
Sean

Why is the status light only on when the power is attached to the computer ? It is never on when the computer is on so when you turn it off it is very hard to tell if it really shut down!!

A:Inspiron 15 no status light

It is a power and battery-status light only and not a cpu usage light.
According to Inspiron 15 Reference Guide :
" Indicates the power and battery status of the computer.White - Battery is getting charged
Amber - Battery is low or critical.
Off -    Computer is plugged in and the battery is fully charged.
Computer is running on battery and battery has more than 10% charge."

My laptop is less than 2 weeks old and everytime I turn it on, it gives me a bios screen saying it can't detect the power supply. I'm using the 130 watt power supply that came with it. Any ideas on what the issue could be?

A:Inspiron 7559 unable to detect the power supply

Hi Scooch,
I would suggest you to update the BIOS on the computer. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS required onto the system and install it.
http://dell.to/18r60nI
Also, we will need to determine if the issue is with the AC adapter or Battery. We will have to check the status of the adapter in the BIOS; if the adapter is not detected properly the system will continue to receive power but will not charge the battery. Please follow the steps mentioned below to check if the adapter is detected properly.

Start the computer by pressing the power button
Press the F2 key 2-3 times you will now be on the BIOS screen.
Under the Main Tab look for the option that says AC Adapter Type If the Adapter Type says Unknown or None with the adapter plugged in.
Reconnect the adapter to the machine and if the status now shows as Unknown then the AC Adapter needs to be replaced.
Also, I would suggest you to run a thorough test on the battery. You can download Support assist from the link below and run the PC CHECKUP on Battery to check for issues
http://dell.to/1hAPOXr

Please let me know the findings.

About once every month, my laptop keyboard will freeze up out of nowhere. It doesn't matter what I'm doing at the moment. However, at the same time, the power button also stops responding. In order to turn off my computer, I have to unscrew the panel under my laptop and unplug the battery cable. After re-plugging the cable in and rebooting, my laptop works fine... until the next time the keyboard fails and I have to do everything described above again.
I have attempted factory resets and system restores but nothing I have done seems to resolve the issue. I suspect that the issue may be related to the actual keyboard's hardware but I am hesitant about opening up my laptop unless it's actually necessary.
Anyone who has experienced this problem or has any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I can post specific specs if needed but here is a screenshot of some of my general specifications: i.gyazo.com/da92a4946a6acafa272ec0811f14c5e3.png

Around once a month, my laptop's keyboard will randomly stop working out of nowhere. It doesn't matter if I am playing a game or just simply browsing Google Chrome. At the same time, the power button stops responding as well. The only way for me to turn off my laptop is to open up the panel under the laptop and pull the battery cable out. After replugging in the battery cable and rebooting, my laptop goes back to normal until a month later when one of these random freezes happens again.
I've tried factory resets and system restores but nothing has solved this problem. I was thinking that the root of the problem being with the actual keyboard's hardware but I am hesitant to open up my laptop unless I'm absolutely sure of the cause.

My Dell Inspiron 1545 has been sitting for a while, and when I went to plug it it and try to use it, it would not turn on. All I got is a pulsing power light like when it's in sleep.
I recently replaced the battery as well as the charger, because the original battery was shot and the charger was in horrible shape. I also replaced the power jack a while back because the pins inside were bent and the laptop got no power.
I had successfully used the laptop for a while after replacing these parts, but now it won't turn on. Whether I'm on battery, AC power, or both, it only flashes/pulses when I press the power button. If I hold the power button, it will shut off.
What's wrong here? I have checked and re-seated both memory modules, also testing both slots and nothing changed.

A:Inspiron 1545 Won't Power On, Pulsing Power Light Like When In Sleep Mode

Hi CARCRAZY98,
Thank you for the update.
Well, when you power on the system, if you hear the fan spinning and the HDD turning on, connect an external monitor and check if there is any display.
Reseat the cmos battery and check when possible. Since the system draws power from the adapter, at this point, I would not suspect the adapter. Also, remove the memory modules and disconnect the HDD and check if the system comes on and beeps - indicating a missing HDD / memory.
As advised in my previous post, if nothing works and the indications do not change, I would suspect the motherboard.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

My Inspiron 15R N5110 won't come on. I've tried both battery and 2 different ac adapters. I've removed the battery, unplugged it, and held the power button for 30 seconds to discharge the system, but it still won't come on.
I took the laptop apart and everything looks alright, but the DC jack was slightly brown on top so I replaced the DC jack board. It still won't work.
I made sure the connections are tight (the DC jack and other USB board) by screwing them down. The only thing that happens that shows any life is when the battery is in. The power button, power indicator light in front, and the little "gears" light blink white for just a moment, then off, about every 5 seconds.

Any ideas? If I have to replace the motherboard, what is the difference between 0G8RW1 and 0VVN1W? I'm not worried about the product key not validating - may even put Windows 8 on it.

My laptop is almost 12 months old.  2 weeks ago the power light (on front of case) started blinking -- 1 white, 4 amber, repeated continuously -- when A/C power cord plugged in and battery has a charge.  Same if I unplug A/C power cord and run only on battery. (Bios show battery is "Normal" and icon tray shows battery is fully charged.)  Power light is constant white when I remove battery and power only with A/C cord. I called Dell Tech Support and they told me that this is not a problem with battery and that my laptop is properly functioning.  Blinking light would seem to indicate otherwise.  I would appreciate any insights that anyone might have, in particular if you have encountered this same problem.  Thank you.

A:Inspiron 1545 Power Light Blinking White/Amber

Hello again
Thank you so much for replying. YES, when I disconnect the battery and only run on A/C power the light stays white.
So, I will have to get a new battery which is quite expensive as I am no longer under warranty. I hardly ever use it, only to move the laptop from one room to the other. I pretty much use it like a "desktop". I have been putting up with the annoying light for a couple of weeks now, sometimes I disconnect the battery just to get rid of the annoyance, but it has been windy/stormy weather here and we are known to have occasional power outages, so I rather keep it in.
Anyways, thank you so much for posting your issue and writing back. I appreciate it

Check out the reset given in the second link at #2, then the screen as per #3. If it is still the same then responses #1 and #2 (first link) suggest possible items that might need replacing. However, without examining the Inspiron it is difficult to be absolutely certain so it could be expensive just buying things in order to find out. This would need to be weighed against invoking the professional who can look at the unit and should be able to give more concrete guidance. Most things can be repaired but it all boils down to cost. Bought my wife this computer for Christmas.  Apparently Dell has combined the power indicator light/hard drive activity light/ and battery status light into one single light on the front edge of computer.  My concern is that the light only comes on briefly when I first plug  in the power supply, then it goes out  and never lights again.  Even when the hard drive is writing or reading the light doesn't come on to show activity.  Is this normal?  I'm concerned as this is one way I've used to determine if things are happening on my computer as they should be.  If  the light is not designed to show hard drive activity when it occurs, what use is it?

Is there something wrong with my laptop? Whenever i plug in the internet cable to my laptop in order to connect to the internet, the DSL light won't stop blinking. Therefore, i can't stay connected to the internet. Nothing wrong with the cable cause I can stay connected w/o any blinks when using my desktop. Is there something that keeps making it this way. And also my laptop is clean from any virus, spyware, adware, trojan so thats not the problem.

I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate to my new PC (was XP before) and I noticed that the HDD light blinks every second even if the PC's idle. Is that a normal behavior for Windows 7?

A:HDD light blinks every second.

In the early days, yes.

Windows 7 uses Superfetch to quickly learn which are your favourite programs and this task plus indexing means there will be a lot of hard drive chatter, which of course is more noticeable when your computer is idling.

Give it a few days and things will quieten down.

A friend of mines computer starts, but his green monitor light blinks on and off.(he uses a CRT). Any suggestions?

A:Monitor light blinks on and off

The light blinks green? Or orange?
Usually a blinking light means no signal. Meaning the PC is not sending a signal out the video card, meaning something on the PC is trashed.

Easiest thing to do is test the monitor real quick on another PC that IS working. If the monitor works, then something is wrong with the PC. And you'll have to troubleshoot it from there.

But this will get you started. Chances are good it's not the monitor that is the problem.

New problem...

My hard drive light blinks every second or two, and is accompanied by the 'reading hard drive' sound.

Why is this?

More importantly - can any of you please help me fix it (i.e., stop it from blinking / reading the drive every second or two)?

Many thanks.

Larry

A:My hard drive light blinks every second or two..

Hi

simple fix...turn off the computer

no seriously, even though you arent using the computer , it is still working away, reading and writing to the drive, windows doesnt stop just because you arent using it.

There are many processes running on the average computer and its these that are using the drive.

Hey I'm really after some help here, my problem is as follows:

I bought a new Alienware M17x laptop from Dell a few days ago and my internet connection is fine (so it seems), however i have bumped into this issue that i simply cannot get my head around.

When i try to log into the game WoW on my laptop (which is connected wirelessly to the router) my DSL light blinks red and disconnects me, its very frustrating. The only thing i think it could be is something to do with a packet overflow?

Ive checked the connections and rebooted my modem, I'm really on my last leg here, i have no idea whats wrong with it.

I played WoW on my old desktop PC on the same connection for almost 2 years and this problem occured very rarely, but it did happen a few times, but on the laptop it happens on a good 80% of my logins. I can't understand why the changing of the computers would cause an issue, so i guess it has to be the router itself?

I have a Bigpond router and the gateway is a 2701HGV-W. My internet speed is 8mb and i am not capped. The router supports wireless connections and i am running windows 7 on a virus free brand new laptop.

Please somebody help me, or post if u have the same issue. Cheers.

A:DSL light blinks red when logging into WoW (plz help, desperate)

Given that the router apparently disconnects, I'd try these two steps. It appears that the router is disconnecting. The other possibility would be an ISP issue with the connection, but I'd try this first.

Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

what it could be? some one is using my internet? or ?

A:DSL Modem's LAN light blinks most of the time

Well, the first thing to do is to make sure your wireless is secure. If you use WPA/WPA2 encryption with a strong random key, that will do the job.

FWIW, my lights are constantly blinking too, even though there is no activity. That happens with my Verizon FiOS now, as well as my old Comcast account.

So I just purchased a refurbished Thinkpad Yoga, and all was great for a little while. Then I decided to shut it down and set it aside for a few minutes. After coming back, it now refuses to even POST. I tried every power cycle I could think of, in various combinations, and browsed several forums. In the end I found no functional solution. Current Status: System responds in no way other than the 'i' light (in the Thinkpad logo) blinking three times when the charger is connected, or the same when the reset button is pressed while the charger is still connected. Nothing else illicits any sort of beep, light, or otherwise. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks and regards.

I have a feeling you had opened up the back cover to fiddle around with the components (be it a change of SSD or the 3g/4g modem). the symptoms you described sounds exactly like a disconnect MB cable. you can try to open up the back cover, and around the left side, you will see a cable labelled "MB". secure it properly, and the computer should be responsive now.

Yea, this happens sometimes, but it happened to me 3 TIMES today. The DSL Light Slowly Blinks Green on my Modem/Router (I don't know the difference) and the Internet light goes out and I lose internet connection. It lasts 5 minutes to 5 hours, it varies. My router/modem is an Actiontec GT724WG with TDS Telecom ISP. Powerlight always stays solid.

First step is to check with your ISP to see if they are having problems.

Likely a failed hard drive. Still under warranty? Call Dell to replace.
Some owners have trouble if they converted from WXP Pro to VISTA Home Premium witht the free update disc. In which case, you have to reinstall WXP first.

a little bit of background first. i no longer have a battery for my laptop. i can only use it when the adapter is plugged into it. yesterday i tried turning it on, but it doesnt. this morning i tried turning it on again and it turned on, for a few seconds then it died. after a few frustrating tries, i noticed that the AC adapter light would blink on and off, like it wasnt supplying power to my laptop. and because my laptop no longer has a battery, it dies. i tried to plug the adapter to another socket because i thought it was a grounded socket issue, but the same thing happens. a friend of mine suggested that it may be the radeon video card that i had got somehow fried or overheated or something, so we tried uninstalling it(yes, there was a time it stayed on long enough for me to log in and uninstall my video card). sometimes it would take 5 seconds for the AC adapter light to blink and die, sometimes it takes 5 minutes or so. after uninstalling my video card, the same thing still happens. when i turn it on, sometimes it only takes a couple of seconds before it dies. sometimes, even if i dont turn it on, the AC adapter light would go on and off, like there was something disrupting the flow of electricity from my socket to my AC adapter to my laptop that causes the light to blink on and off very fast. could it be a power supply issue?

Just purchased a Lenovo Yoga 2 13" about 3 weeks ago. I like the PC, but I have an issue. I was using it last night and I shut it down and left it to charge. Today when I went to turn it on the battery light blinks 3 times (1 second on, 1 second off x 3) and that's it. It won't boot at all. Have tried holding the power button for 3 - 30 seconds and pressing the reset button but all I get is the 3 blinks of the battery light (no power button light at all). Is there anything I can do? Hard reset button combo or anything like that to try? Thanks.

I have an 8 month sleekbook 15-b040sl running Windows 8 that never gave me any problem so far. Today without me changing anything (I didn't even plugged off the notebook from the AC) the ac adapter light (the one that turns orange when the battery is under charge) started blinking white with the pc turned off. Btw the battery is connected.I turned on the PC and the light is still blinking white, but so far the PC seems to be operating correctly without any error message or anomaly. I'm still worried about this flashing light though, so I wonder if there's something I can do to solve this issue, or at least understand what caused it, and if I should send it to the techincal assistance. Thanks in advance for the help EDIT:: I doubt this may help but just in case.the white light flashes once each second, but removing the power cord while the laptop is alimented by the battery and switched off, causes the light to stay on for 35 seconds and off for 25 seconds. If I turn on the laptop with battery without ac cord it starts blinking again once each second

A:Sleekbook 15-b040sl :: AC adapter light blinks white

Hello  @Iaaf , Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand the power input light on your notebook has been acting funky lately.  I took a look at your products user guide and found the following information on the power adapter light:White: The AC adapter is connected and the battery is charged.Blinking white: The battery has reached a low battery level.Amber: The AC adapter is connected and the battery is charging.Off: The computer is using DC power. If the notebook is running on battery power and is not charging the adapter light will blink white. If the adapter blinks white while the adapter is connected this could be a sign that the adapter is not charging the battery. Have you noticed if the battery icon in your taskbar shows the battery is charging or not?  You may need to perform a hard reset:Turn off the notebook.Disconnect the AC adapter.Remove the battery.Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.Reconnect the battery.Reconnect the AC adapter.Power on the notebook. You may also want to test and calibrate your battery. You can see information on doing this here: Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 8). Let me know if this helps!  -Edited to add battery test and calibration document.

I'm trying to get this Compaq Presario CQ62 laptop to start. I get a black screen with the cap lock light blinking when I turn it on. Occasionally it starts up normally but then returns to no start with the above described problem. I have removed the memory and the hard drive and reset them. Tried each memory stick individually in each memory location. I removed the battery and held the power button down. Several times I tried it and let the battery discharge while it was trying to start, then when the battery was dead, I plugged in the power and it started. I then removed the battery and started it 3 or 4 times and all was well. The next time, no start. I really could use some suggestions as I'm starting to pull my hair out and I don't have much left.

I just bought the highest spec Inspiron - 8gb ram, 4k display, ssd+hdd & I got few issues.

Firstly, the problem with the track pad. Right out of the box the *** track pad was glitchy. The left click wouldn't register all the time, and the track-pad it self has so much play. I get this is their cheaper line, but can anyone else confirm this same build quality? And if they have the same problem with the left click. Right click registers 100% of the time.

Secondly, my windows boots really quick. But there is this weird freaking lag I feel. If I put my laptop on sleep or shut the lid and continue from where I left off every single folder I open is so slow. And regardless of restarting my pc or not, maximizing or minimizing windows has this stutter feel to it. Like the windows fall behind...

I have changed the setting to performance vs visual. I have updated the bios as per Tech support, updated the video card & windows; I still get this really bad lag. I have windows 10 on pc, and I want to know how to fix this issue. I would also like to know if anyone else is experiencing this stuff. And apparently my in home warranty only covers track pad but not the software side of it. The sales person did a poor job at explaining the warranty side by saying everything is covered with in home warranty.

$1600. was it worth it. We will see in 2 weeks. Help

Recently my laptop screen started to go black randomly. I think that the issue started after one of the Dell Updates. What's interesting in never happens during gaming, only when using a browser, Word, etc or left idle. When it happens the laptop is completely unrensponsive the only thing I can do is to hold the power button to turn off the laptop. Also when the screen goes black it seems like the backlight it's still on. I tried already tried to update both GPU's drivers, BIOS drivers, reseted BIOS to default settings and change power settings to maximum but it still happens.

A:Inspiron 15 7559

Hi HAMSTERSKY,
Seems like you have tried most possible steps to resolve the issue. What is the current OS installed on the machine? Are there any bluescreens or system crashes?
Connect an external monitor and test the system.
Create a new admin account and test - http://bit.ly/1JoFhcw - link for windows 10
Try reinstalling the video drivers from the vendor site - Intel - http://intel.ly/1Py9EoB and http://www.geforce.com/ for nvidia driver for your specific OS.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
If the system is under warranty, write me a private conversation with the service tag, your name and email address.
Keep us updated.

Hi, I have a question that's not directly related to the original post but it also has to do with the Inspiron 7559. I've owned mine for ~3 mo. Two days ago it installed an NVIDIA driver update. Last night a game I was playing suddenly froze and I had to force quit, but after I restarted the game (at which time my internet browsers were also open but they were only displaying gmail and another simple website with no multimedia playing), the computer completely froze. Mouse didn't work, and ctrl-alt-delete didn't work. I finally tried to force shutdown the laptop by holding the power button for a long time, but that also didn't work, which was worrying. This laptop has an internal battery, so I couldn't just remove the battery to force a shutdown. I ended up unplugging the external power and letting the laptop run its battery out so that it shut itself down.
This only happened once, and the laptop turned on ok this morning, but I'm worried that if a similar situation happens again, I wouldn't have any other options if the power button doesn't work like it's supposed to.

A:RE: Inspiron 15 7559

Hi GYDELLCOMM,
Are there any bluescreens / system crashes? Does the system overheat? What is the current OS installed on the system?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/24WBGxK
If the system tends to work fine, create a system restore point, so you could always restore the system back to a functional state if any SW issue is caused.
If the issue reoccurs at any point, then
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
Create a new local admin account and check - http://bit.ly/1JoFhcw
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - leave the system in BIOS environment with the adapter plugged in and check if the system freezes at any point. There is a system clock in BIOS that keeps ticking - if the system freezes at any point, then the system clock would have frozen.
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.
P.S. I have moved your thread to a new post as it is a different issue to the original post on the old thread.

My contention is that the sales dept. original misunderstood their product and sold me a machine that does not perform the function requested.  They misrepresented the product.
I had the Laptop for 2 weeks before i started having issue with display drivers,  was email tech supports for another 2 weeks before i was able to get any type of help. While on the phone i was asking question about this laptop, and the Tech Support told me i never should have bought this.. its made to do the type of graphic design work i do.
So i immediately called customer care, they wouldnt return my laptop cause i missed my widow by 3 days, Even though it was i was with Tech support for almost 3  1/2 weeks of setting up times to get my laptop looked at, in which Dell missed the schedule appointments  2x..
Sale reps are not educated on the product and shouldnt be selling with proper education..
now im stuck in limbo waiting for a tech to come change out my mother board, honestly as soon as its fixed its going to ebay..

When we purchased this laptop, I tried to verify with Dell Support what ssd would fit before the laptop arrived so we could order and have it I hand. I was told the m.2 2280 ssd format was correct and ordered the Samsung 850 EVO. After both arrived, I went to install the ssd and the slot was not the same as the layout of the ssd - it only had one notch vs. two for the Samsung 850. I did some research and found out it the mobo was designed for the pcie m.2 ssd. So I sent back the 850 and ordered the Samsung 950 PRO. I installed it and nothing - could not get the laptop to recognize the ssd no matter what. SO here it is, about 8 months later and I still have a $200 ssd doing nothing. Anyone have any ideas? We'd love to put the operating system on the ssd and use the 1 TB hybrid for everything else!

A:m.2 format ssd for an inspiron 15 7559

This model supports SATA 6G SSDs  -- not PCIe or NVMe drives.
When you installed the Evo card, did you check to make sure the system was setup (F2 at powerup) for AHCI mode - NOT RAID mode (which likely was the default when the system arrived)?

New laptop arrived today.
First boot no issues, second boot, error message which locked the system as follows:
"Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 353.82 stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
Whole system froze, left it for thirty minutes then had to turn off using the power button, and the same thing happened again, restarted, system ran tests, this time it booted okay, so downloaded latest Nvidia drives and updated the system, all on the system fine, then it rebooted and I got a BSOD that it was impossible to recover from the system basically just rebooted on to the same screen on a regular basis this one is
"DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION", google sends up some many potential answers, finally got in to the advanced system menu and rebooted into safe mode, removed 960M from device manager and then rebooted, no issues.
Ten minutes later, BSOD as above.

Resetting windows and it is buggered, still have the DPC_Watchdog_Violation.
Anything we can do about this or it is just a return and refund?

Hi,
I've had the Dell Inspiron 15 7559 4k laptop since around January 2016 and I've had a lot of blue screen errors. It's always the 'whea_uncorrectable_error' blue screen that I get.
It mostly happens when I'm in the middle of using a program like Gamemaker, Photoshop or Maya and even when browsing in Chrome, but it's never once happened while playing a game, so I thought it might of had something to do with the Intel graphics, which I changed the drivers multiple times and nothing changed.
Most recently, the laptop has been giving me a critical error (shown in Dell's Support Assist) while going to Sleep or Hibernate mode. I noticed it when I had closed the lid for it to go to Sleep mode, about 2 hours later, once it automatically goes to Hibernate mode, the laptop would just switch off. I noticed this because when I switched it back on, I would have to switch the numlock back on to enter my password and none of my programs were still loaded. I checked Support Assist and another Critical Error had popped up, but with no error report.
I've tried reseting the BIOS, but nothing changed apart from the function key was reset - I've never needed to change anything in the BIOS. All drivers and the BIOS is up to date. I also switched off Fast-boot as it was one of the many things I read that might help the issue, but didn't. This was a clean install onto the M.2 drive I bought, but also did a full reset via the Windows setup thing, to... Read more

I just bought this Inspiron 15 7559, used.  The previous owner says it was working perfectly when he sent it to me.
When I received it (Oct 24), it would not boot up.  I'd press the power button, and the power button and keyboard backlight would come on, and a fan would come on for about 2 seconds and then stop, but that was it.  Also, the status light would alternate flashing white a few times, then amber.  We took the battery and memory out, and did a power reset.  Replaced the memory and plugged in the AC adapter, and the computer started up.  So we put the battery back in, and everything was good.
Less than a week later (Oct 30), I was using the computer, just checking Facebook and email and such, and the screen went crazy and froze up.  All I could do was do a force shutdown.  But when I tried to turn it back on, it was doing the same thing it did when I received it.  We tried what we did before, removing battery and memory and resetting power and all that, but it still will not come on.  I ran the LCD BIST test, and the screen did come on and flash different colors, so I know the screen itself still works.
The laptop is still under warranty, so I could send it in.  Or, the person I got it from said they'd give me my money back if they had to.  I just wanted to find out if it was something I could possibly fix myself, before having to send it off for who knows how long, or returning it to the previous ow... A:Inspiron 7559 - Will not Boot up

Alicia. You will need to wait for the warranty to transfer before you can send it in for repairs. The transfer could take 2-4 weeks to get the warranty transferred to your name. You can take the battery out, remove the power adapater and hold the power button down for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Put the battery back in and turn it on. If that does not work it will  need to be repaired under the warranty.

Hello.

So i received my laptop and decided to install some games on it. I had some issues in one of them and a friend of mine suggest my  to do a Factory reset and when it was doing it i received an error message. I had to do it with a flash drive. I downloaded the ISO file from Microsoft.

I then went to the Dell Support Page. Is there any other driver i need to download and install? i selected scan device & download automotically. I downloaded gForce Experience separately.

I saw an option called PC diagnostic, i wanted to run it. I selected all the devices/hardware on the list.
Is it normal that it lasted 6 hours and something?

Another thing. During some stages of the test, my CPU & Memory usage were on or above 90% (i only had 4 Windows of Microsoft Edge)

Where is the HDD located? is it normal to get hot/warm on the left bottom side? (left side of the touch pad)
Thank you so much

I bought this laptop exactly one month ago, and I haven't had a single problem until today. I was in the middle of typing when my keyboard suddenly stopped working. I went to restart the driver, but nothing worked, so I decided to just shut down the computer and wait it out. The laptop started shutting down, with the screen off and everything, however after a while the fan was still gently going, indicating it was still on, and the light on the power button was still on as another indicator that it was STILL on. Holding down the power button doesn't shut the computer off no matter how long I press it, and it just won't turn off or on, as if it's stuck trying to turn off but can't completely. The keyboard is, I assume, still not working, so maybe the power button is also broken.
Windows 10 automatically updated about 4 days ago for me, but I hadn't had any problem with it. The laptop has been working perfectly until today. I desperately can't afford to lose my files, is there a way to fix this/has this happened before with a solution? I could try taking the battery out as well but I don't think I have the proper equipment to take out the torx screws around the battery.

A:ERROR 220 - Failed at power status check! Status =...

Windows retrieved an update recently to update the firmware on the edge 2 laptops. Mine has been doing this same exact thing, however, each time at restart my battery has been below "the threshold" of 25 or 30% battery, I forget which. Next time you get a full charge, restart the computer instead of shutting it down, and hopefully should do the trick.

So I've been having some serious issues with poor performance on my Inspiron 15 7559.  It's really any one thing, most of my interactions are bad.  When I try to play videos from sites besides YouTube or Netflix I get a very stuttery playback.  It also loads pages slowly as well on chrome and firefox.  I've had Dell reimage the drive with Windows, and have had the motherboard already replaced due to a separate issue with the speaker.  Have anyone else encountered these issues?  After spending $1200 on a laptop I would expect much better performance (at least equal with my 3 year old Alienware, which has an older generation processor yet is super smooth).

I've had my Dell Inspiron 7559 since Christmas Eve 2015 and I have the 4K touchscreen i7 6700HQ 16GB Ram GTX 960M 4GB VRAM, 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD and I want to start with the minor issue about some pixels being blurry and the wrong color, I painted a single free form white line on paint on a black background and inspecting the pixels closely I saw that some pixels were turning green despite being supposed to appear white.
And sometimes automatically the screen adapts its lighting depending on what range of pixel color takes up the most space, for example resizing  a steam window (dark) will affect the overall mood of the screen slightly changing the color of other windows, especially noticeable with white windows.

My main complaint is this: I've had lots of trouble with audio.
I've read that there were static y pop noises on many models, I get that too, then I noticed I was unable to record with stereo mix while headphone/earphones were plugged in the jack output back in january 2016, I haven't tested if I still have the issue right now because another problem came up which made me avoid recording on the laptop altogether
When recording with stereo mix, even with dell audio maxx enhancements disabled, only the low frequencies are recorded, be it with Windows store's voice recorder or audacity, and I've compared the spectra of a recording I made with the 7559 laptop's stereo mix and that of my other pc's recording and for the 7559 the spectru... Hi Everyone,
I have a new Dell Inspiron 7559:
I use it for work, mainly translation tools, and also for some ocasional gaming (Witcher 3, Cities skylines, etc.).
So I was thinking on maybe upgrading it a bit, but as I´m on a budget I can only afford upgrading the ram up to 16GB or to buy an SSD of 250GB, what would you suggest to upgrade?, which of both would have more impact on the performance?.
Thank you very much!

A:Upgrade Dell Inspiron 7559

If it's running a conventional (or hybrid) hard drive, the SSD will make much more of an overall impact than the memory upgrade.

Hey all,
I cant get the laptop to boot.
On powering up, i will go to either to the Dell SupportAssist (?) and tells
"Memory Errors Detected. Limit Exceeded. Additional Errors will not be resolved"
Location: BANK 0, ChannelA-DIMM0
Error Code : 2000-0122
Validation : 118143

or it gets to win10 BSOD (BAD_POOL_HEADER mostly)
Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Hi guys,
My external mic - a JBL synchros e40bt which works great in other computers - doesn't work with the Inspiron 15 7559-A20 that I bought today, even after updating drivers, checking Dell's Audio software, selecting "this is a microphone" option when plugging in, running Dell's diagnostic program, checking if "Realtek" is showing by the device name, etc.
Can you please help? Such a bad experience with such an expensive computer.
Thank you so much

Hello. I am not familiar with JBL synchros e40bt so I googled it. It appears to be a bluetooth headset device, so I am wondering which laptop port you are plugging it into.

Do the headphones work okay with the headset, but just the mic is not working?

Hello.
Why Active State Power Management is not supported on Dell 7559? Any plans to fix this with BIOS update?
In Windows if I do powercfg /energy it reports the following:
Platform Power Management Capabilities:PCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) Disabled
PCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) has been disabled due to a known incompatibility with the hardware in this computer.

My Inspiron 7559 is an i7 model, with an added 8GB RAM stick.Since the past week, games which used to run at 60 fps are now running at below 30 fps (Witcher 3 used to give me 50fps and now gives me 15-20fps).
I have already tried the following:
1) Disabling Game DVR in the Xbox app
2) Doing a clean install of  all drivers available on Nvidia's website
3) Installing all the above drivers after deleting the old one using Display Driver Uninstaller
4) Installing the driver available on Dell's website
5) Checking all the settings in the Nvidia Control Panel
As it sits now, the laptop is running on driver version 368.71 from Dell's support page.
Also, Here is what I've noticed:
If I launch a game immediately after installing the graphics driver, it performs at its actual 60fps level. However, 15-20 seconds into any game, the game crashes with no "XXXXXX Stopped working" dialog box. If I launch the game again, it then gives me the horribly low fps. This isn't specific to any game. The Crew, Rocket league, Witcher 3, Battlefield 4, Project CARS, you name it.
I am now at my wit's end on how to solve this problem.
Please help.

I suggest you contact Technical Support for assistance in the link below:

If Dell doesn't answer your question then I suggest you( or a very good friend) remove the battery, press the " Power On" button for 20 seconds, install battery, adapter, and then power on the system. Hopefully your computer function well now.
