Q: Specs for the power adapter for a Prodesk/Elitedesk Mini 400...

Hello,I am trying to find the specs for the power adapter for a HP Prodesk/Elitedesk Mini 400/600/800 G1. The part number is L2X04AA#ABA. I found the HP data sheet but that has very little information.I am looking for output voltage and tip dimensions.I am hoping that I can reuse the power adapter from the older HP DC7800 usff PCs but I can determine that only if I find the specs. Anyone out there who can dig up some specs for the HP Desktop Mini Adapter Kit (L2X04AA#ABA). ?

In a hasty move, my power adapter was separated from the OneTouch,
and now I am having difficulty identifying the correct one for my drive.

Often the specs are printed on the exterior of the peripheral as well as the Wall Wart... and that makes matching easy...
But Maxtor did not do this with the drive.
And, I have not been able to complete the process of elimination... (more wall warts than peripherals)

So ... Does anyone here know the specs?
(Voltage, and Amps (or mA), and whether it is positive or negative at the center?)
I have searched in vain with Google... and (maybe I overlooked it, but) could not find it by trying to go to Maxtor...

Again, this is for a Maxtor, OneTouch 4Plus (500GB)
Model STM305004OTA3E5-RK
(External Hard Drive for PC and Mac, USB 2.0 and Firewire)

Thanks in advance!

Found information: :grinthumb
Now I feel dumb... I have searched for weeks for this... and 5 minutes after posting my note, I find it...

Hello Forum, I hope somebody can help. We are trialling the latest HP EliteDesk G2 Mini. I have managed to overcome the issues with drivers for the keyboard and mouse during installation but now I have hit another hurdle. We have a fleet of existing HP 8000/8200/8300 SFF which I have created a USB image for which works fine. If I use this USB on the new G2 Mini it is also working fine on the preinstalled SATA drive (745135-001). If I replace the SATA drive for a Sandisk SSD 120GB it can see the drive when it gets to the stage "Where do you want to install Windows" but there is also an exclamation triangle saying "Windows cannot be installed on this disk. This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the BIOS Menu" So far I have tried formatting the disk to GPT / MBR / NTFS / FAT32 - makes no difference.I have turned off UEFI and turned on legacy. Disabled secure boot. I have tried to install all the drivers from the supplied DVD (copied to USB) when you get the option to load drivers in the Windows setup menu. It loads various drivers but makes no difference. I have tried 3 brand new Sandisk SSD drives but I get the same result. Has anyone come across this? Is there a specific driver or setting I need to make in the BIOS to install Windows on a standard 2.5 SSD? Any help would be much appreciated. Justin

A:HP EliteDesk G2 Mini - SSD

Which Sandisk SSD model is it?They are not all the same. There are a number of different memory types and controllers in use. YOur desktop needs TLC SSD types. Have you not yet contacted Sandisk to ask them if the memory type used for the SSD that you are using is compatible with your PC? Use HP PartSurfer to get the part number fpor the HP SSD to determine which memory type it uses. The spec sheet for the HP Elite Desk G2 Mini does show it is compatible with SSD disks, It even has an M.2 slot for M.2 PCIe SSD drives.Spec sheethttp://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-elitedesk-800-g2-desktop-mini-pc-l1w21av-1 PartSurferhttp://partsurfer.hp.com/

I am trying to get this device imaged with our base Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit image. I am getting the following errors:In Device Manager, the Generic Bluetooth Adapter is throwing the error "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)"In the Event Viewer, under Windows Logs - System, I am seeing the following pop up every 20 seconds or so: "The local Bluetooth adapter has failed in an undetermined manner and will not be used. The driver has been unloaded." EventID is 17 and the Source is BTHUSB.I have tried many different drivers, both from HP and Intel and have applied two different hotfixes (KB982046 and KB980396) based on various other websites recommendations. I have tried the oft-repeated recommendations of disabling/re-enabling; uninstalling/scan for hardware changes & applying drivers; shutting down (unplug) for several minutes and restarting system. Currently, I am only applying the NIC and USB drivers and am still seeing this problem, although I have also applied all drivers with no difference. A couple of questions:Has anyone else seen this and fixed it?Could the USB drivers be the issue? I am using the USB drivers otherwise I cannot use my keyboard/mouse.Any other suggestions?

Hello Keslaa, Have you updated the BIOS firmware and Chipset drivers as well? You can get these from the support site, under drivers and downloads:http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=8741495&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4060 Additionally, in the device manager, I know you've already uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, scanned for hardware changes, rebooted, etc. Have you also tried to "Update the driver software", "browsed computer for driver software" and searched the C:\ drive? I have seen a similar issue before and this resolved the issue for that unit. The computer was looking elsewhere for the driver and did not find the most recent one installed. Hope this helps!

Like the title says, I was trying to find out if the unit will support dual 4K monitors 3840 x 2160 @ 60MHz. The specs seem to suggest this would work. I'm trying to confirm without having 2 4K monitors on hand. Anyone know and/or have any experience with a setup like this?

Obtained my new EliteDesk 800 G1mini and was able to access the UEFI when I first started by hitting any key at the prompt and entering the UEFI. Afterwards I went to the HP web site and updated software that required updates, including the Bios to 2.0.7A. Also ran Windows update, installed Symantec security software, turned on TPM associated encryption and other security features required by my employer. Now, whenever I start/restart the computer, within the one or two seconds it says press esc or any key, no matter when I start repeatedly pressing esc, f10 or any key on my USB keyboard the system goes directly to Windows 8.1. I tried shutting off Symantec and encryption. Not sure what else to do to get into the UEFI, esp since the fans are running very load and I'd like to slow them down. Any solution would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, I recently bought a ProDesk 600 G2 Mini which I'm very happy with. However, I can't get the machine to boot from the M.2 NVMe SSD I've installed. There are no problems to use it as a second drive in Windows and also no problems installing Windows on it, but even though I can see it in BIOS and select it to boot from, I only get a "no bootable device" message. Is it possible that such a new machine that has a M.2 port, can't handle booting from a NVMe drive? HP doesn't have any information I can find on this issue, or can someone help me find it? Does anyone know? Best regards, Tommy

A:Booting a ProDesk 600 G2 Mini from a M.2 NVMe SSD?

Can't vouch for consumer class m.2 nvme drives, but HP fully supports HP Turbo Drive G1 (non-nvme) and G2 (nvme) M.2 SSD cards and are configurable as Hard Drive 1 on the Mini, which makes them bootable. It is possible that your SSD has not been properly setup as boot media?

When trying to deploy OS from Windows Deployment Services we are unable to kick off the build as this model doesnt recognise the USB keyboard and mouse. We have seen a similar issue on the EliteDesk 800 G2 SFF but as that model has a PS2 option we can use this as a workaround until the build process completes and injects the correct USB drivers. These mini models don't have any PS2 connections so that option is gone! All other USB ports are USB3 and refuse to work which leaves us unable to kick off the imaging process and install the drivers. Is there a workaround for this issue?

A:HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Mini - USB keyboard & mouse not working ...

I'd assume you already found the excellent info from Paul about there being a way to roll in USB3 drivers to a W7Pro installer build via a method from Intel. Here is that source thread, if you did not find it: Link http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/can-not-install-win... The "restore" builds that HP includes on the original drive or via DVD generally have important drivers custom added in by HP, before they provide that "image" to load from. I would contact HP directly to see if there is an option to purchase a W7Pro version for your specific model. There has been the option to officially downgrade from W8 to W7. This user's forum is not the official conduit for such requests. A nice feature of such builds is that the HP OEM COA is included, and once you create a finalized build to your specific needs you can capture that image and clone it to other of your same-type workstations and that COA will work on them also. I'd personally want the 64-bit version, if available. Of course, check to make sure that all the workstations you clone onto have the legal right to use that COA.

Also there?s no ?Press <ctrl-p> to configure to enter MEBx setup? or similar after BIOS post. The BIOS shows the following information: System BIOS: N23 Ver. 02.09 08/07/2016ME Firmware Version: 11.0.0.1205 I can?t seem to find information about what the hardware requirements for Intel AMT are, besides vPro. Can someone confirm or deny that the EliteDesk 705 G1 desktop mini supports NVMe M.2 drives? I've seen mention that the 800 G1 systems support NVMe drives, but not the 705 series. The quickspecs for this DM says that the M.2 is PCIe X4, but not whether the BIOS supports NVMe. (The 705 G2 DM specs clearly indicate this. I wish the 705 G1 DM specs were a little clearer.)

Hello everyone, I have an issue with my new Elitedesk 800 G2 that i think is related to Wake on Lan. The problem is that I cannot find any such settings in the BIOS settings. Could it be that I am just blind? Description:After shutting down my PC it only remains off for a couple of minutes. It then powers itself on and tries to network boot. Since I dont have anything to boot from on my home network the attempt fails. After that It tries to boot from harddrive but that also fails because it cannot find a harddrive(?). I then have to power cycle the computer to make it boot normally from the harddrive. Once it is on it works flawlessly. I tried upgrading BIOS yesterday but the problem remains.

Power down PC...while it off remove USB wifi adapter....power on PC. When PC has finished booting up, search in the uninstall programs list for any software related Netgear and uninstall it. Reboot and start the process again.

According to the system requirements for that device, it does not support windows 10, which may be you issue.

Hello to all. I am planning on doing my 2nd build (for the wife) and made a few mistakes on the 1st build as I did not consult with this forum before I purchased my hardware and as a result ended upcosting a bit more than I had planned.
This build is only going to be used for surfing, printing occasional photos and craft related media, emails and surfing.
The main aim is a faster Internet surfing machine than that which she is currently using(6yr old single core 1.6MhZAMD,[email protected],wireless G) and to reduce the physical dimensions of case.
Planning on uprading network to N-wireless and have 10Mb cable connection.
I am hoping some experienced builders can look over my possible purchases and comment and advise.
Hopefully I have given enough info and links.
This is all I was planning on getting to achieve my aim at a reasonable price and hopefully some Major Brownie points from the missus.

A:new power supply / PC specs

Well, 400 watts should be plenty, but you also need to consider the amps as well. If I am reading your psu specs correctly, you only had 10a on the 12v line. While your computer isn't a screamer, 10 amps is pretty low. If you live in the USA you can get a decent 350w FSP power supply from Newegg.com for about $35. It will have more than enough power for your rig.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104901

Also, you should always protect your equipment with a surge protector! You may want to check the outlet you have been pluging into and make sure that it is operating correctly.

I am piecing together a computer system, and racked up a few questions about power supplies. You may have seen my thread about memory voltages, but it made sense to me to separate the topics, so here's another thread. While looking at some different psu's, I discovered that some have two or even more 12v "rails." Am I using that term right? I guess my first question is why are there 3.3v, 5v, and 12v ratings? Which one does what? How does the psu decide how to distribute components across multiple 12v lines?

I looked at some pictures of psu labels, and the ratings given are generally:
(1) amperage for each individual 3.3v, 5v, and 12v line, some positives and negatives, and +5Vsb, whatever that is
(2) occasionally the amperage of all 12v lines combined (which isn't a sum of the individual lines [why not?])
(3) power rating in watts for 3.3v and 5v combined
(4) power rating for all 12v combined
(5) power rating for all others combined (negatives and 5Vsb, again, whatever that is)
(6) and power rating for everything combined

Basically, like memory voltages, I want to have a thorough understanding of power supplies. How do I know if a given power supply will handle a certain set of components I want to use. Is there a mathematical way of figuring this? What about SLI? I read a very vague description of power supply requirements for this at nVidia's SLI Zone. Here's perhaps the most useful bit they had for me there:

Hi All,

I have a Seagate 500gb USB drive and I want to be able to connect to it with both of my PCs. So, I bought a Pluscom mini NAS USB adapter. Unfortunately the installation disc was U/S and despite several requests to Pluscom I've got nowhere.
I have connected the adapter to my router via RJ45 cable and I can see the device on both PCs networks. However, every time I try to connect with the USB hdd I am asked for a user and password. I insert the device's admin/admin but it's not what it wants. I insert the router's details, that doesn't work. I insert the respective PC's name/pw, that doesn't work.
Does anyone have any experience with this particular device and can help me, please?

Power Factor Correction (PFC) allows power distribution to operate at its maximum efficiency. There are two types of PFC, Active PFC and Passive PFC. All of our power supplies are either Active PFC Power Supplies or Passive PFC Power Supplies.

Active PFC:
The preferable type of PFC is Active Power Factor Correction (Active PFC) since it provides more efficient power frequency. Because Active PFC uses a circuit to correct power factor, Active PFC is able to generate a theoretical power factor of over 95%. Active Power Factor Correction also markedly diminishes total harmonics, automatically corrects for AC input voltage, and is capable of a full range of input voltage. Since Active PFC is the more complex method of Power Factor Correction, it is more expensive to produce an Active PFC power supply.

Passive PFC:
The most common type of PFC is Passive Power Factor Correction (Passive PFC). Passive PFC uses a capacitive filter at the AC input to correct poor power factor. Passive PFC may be affected when environmental vibration occurs. Passive PFC requries that the AC input voltage be set manually. Passive PFC also does not use the full energy potential of the AC line.

Non-PFC:
Non-PFC power supplies are no longer recommended. In fact, in Europe, power supplies are now required to have either active power factor correction or passive power factor correction.

A:How do I check the specs of my power supply?

If your Dell computer was manufactured after August 1998, it may require the use of a proprietary Dell power supply. Although the Dell power supply looks like a standard ATX, it is a non-standard PSU that cannot be replaced with a standard power supply alone. Because of this design difference your Dell Power Supply may need a Dell to ATX power supply converter in order to be replaced with any standard ATX Quiet Power Supplies.

Pentium 4 Dell Models that do not require a power supply adapter:
Dell Dimension 4300, 4400, 4700, 8200, 8300, OptiPlex GX 400

Pentium 4 Dell Models that are not compatible with this power supply adapter:
Dell Dimension 8100
http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/std/sku=dellconverter
open the case from the side
Remove 4 screws on the back of the power supply
Unplug everything from the power supply

Reverse the process your done. No real big deal. just make sure you know the power supply you purchase will work with a dell or the adapter you but with the power supply will work as well.

How do I find out the output of my current ps??
Look at the lable on the power supply it will tell you.

Also whats involved in replacing the cooling fan yourself?
Depends on what fan you are speaking of? the case fan? not much just remove it and replace. if your speaking of the cpu? a little more in depth, the stock heatsink+fan usally work and no reason to change unless overclocking.

I have a Intel dual band WiFi adapter mini pci express : http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/dual-band-wireless-ac-7260-bluetooth.html

I recently bought a mini pci express to pci-e adapter that had 3 antennas from ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121134056059?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I installed them mini pci-e into the pcie with one problem which i think doesn't matter: the intel mini pci-e does not reach the top screw holes of the adapter but the antenna wires are still connected to it. I then placed the pcie adapter into a pcie slot on the motherboard of my pc.

When turning on the computer my windows 7 recognized 4 drivers and installed them all. From memory i know one was a USB composite driver and the remaining 3 were USB input devices? This confused me immensely. I dont know what to do next to be honest. Obviously its not working properly and furthermore, the USB composite driver is under the 'Universal seriel bus controllers' group in device manager; with the other three under 'Human interface devices'.

Now, i received a cord with the mini pci-e to pci-e which plugs into the side of the adapter (you can see this slot in the photos of the ebay link above but the actual cord is not in the photos). I did not attach this cord as i do not know where it goes on the motherboard. I have attached the photo of the cord- the white end goes into the... Read more

I recently purchased a Compaq Presario desktop with no integrated wifi. So I picked up a usb adapter. The Retail Plus website says the adapter is compatible with Windows 7. However, after I run the setup and plug in the adapter, the drivers do not install. My apartment is wireless only, so I can't connect my desktop to the internet to download drivers. I do have a laptop with wifi, so I tried installing the usb adapter on it. Everything went smoothly and the usb works on the laptop. So I tried putting the drivers on a disc and putting them on the desktop, no luck. I downloaded a package from the Retail Plus website and I still cannot get the drivers to work.

Unfortunately, I am not very computer savvy. Any suggestions to make this work?

I have one of those micro/mini USB wireless adapters that I'm trying to get working on a reconstituted Win7 HP box. I have a fresh install of Win 7 but have no idea where the driver for the adapter is, so the machine does not see it. I'm not even sure it needs a driver.

Here's the weird thing; I recently plugged the USB wifi thingie into my other box (Win 7 Pro/64) in order to get the PC talking to my smart TV across the room so I could watch Netflix and it came right up fine with no tweaking. I didn't do a thing except reboot. If it needs a driver, it somehow just found it, or does not seem to want one.

On this 2nd box with Pro/64 I can also easily get to the display shown in attachment that shows wireless bars, but on the 1st PC with Win7 Home Prem, going to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing center produces no such display. All it shows is the broadband connection to the cat 5 cable running to my router. It's like the Home Prem system does not support wireless. I did reinstall all drivers from the GByte disc that came with the mobo.

Any ideas?

I left a mouse adapter inside the USB port of my HP Mini laptop. I never used the mouse, but kept it in there just incase. Never gave me any problems until i noticed a burning smell coming from the case. I started receiving tooltips in the corner that the adapter wasn't being recognized, and so i reached to pull it out and discovered it was very hot.. after pulling, it had split into two parts.

How this did happen? The way it was built, the case never gets enough cooling.. but it doesn't seem normal for heat to have gone straight to the port like that either, other components should have melted way before that.

Hi All
Attached is a picture of a Mini Disc Adapter and after a long search I am having problems trying to find out who sells them, because my main computer has a slot instead of a draw to load dvd/cd's into it does not take the little mini cd's that often come with hardware purchased with software to put on your computer.
I have to load it on to the other computer, copy all that is on the disc and put it on my external drive then transfer it to the main computer.
I know I could set it up to transfer from one computer to another but I don't want to have two computers on to do one job
if anyone knows where I can buy these, on line or at a physical store, (does not matter what country) could you pass that info on, much appreciated

I have a mini pcie mSATA card that I want to use for a desktop of mine. Kingston sm200s3 60GB

I believe there are only 2 options.
1. SATA > SATA adapter > mSATA card
2. PCIe slot > PCI adapter > mSATA card.

As far as 2. goes; I have found a card that fits into a PCIe slot which has an input for the mSATA card.

I know that this is not the ideal way to hook up the card but I don't see any more options.

Which is there better way to go or what am I missing?

A:Mini PCIe and adapter VS. SATA

Whatever has an mSATA interface for it will work.

From here SSD Kingston 60GB SM200S3/60G mSATA p/ Ultrabook,tablet - Atera Inform?tica

its a SATA 3 device, so for optimal performance you should use something that can guarantee enough bandwith to not bottleneck it.

PCIe bandwith depends from number of lanes used (a x1 card has one lane, a x2 card has two and so on) and the PCIe revision/version of both devices. The panel on the right here gives all speeds https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express so just multiply that by the number of lanes the card has and you will find out its bandwith. SATA 3 has 6 GB/s of theoretical max bandwith, although actual transfer speed does not go above 1 GB/s afaik.

This Mini PCIe PCI E mSATA Intel Samsung SSD SATA 3 III Adapter Card with Case | eBay

this SATA III Dual Port to mSATA X 2 w/ PCI-e Bracket | MSATA-2XS3-BKT

are examples of what you listed as 1, and stuff I would orient myself towards if my mobo had SATA 3 connectors already. Because... hey, why waste PCIe slots for that?

Hi there, I'm having an issue with my ever so brilliant IBM Thinkpad T42p, only it's not so brilliant at the moment as it has a wireless issue. WPA2-PSK is the standard for wireless security as I believe, my T42p was made in early 2005 and the adapter hasn't really been properly updated to support this security type. I have tried custom drivers to the latest drivers.

The latest drivers crash the OS for several minutes and fail to install, even when digitally signed and the custom drivers work a treat on WEP and other network security types not the modern standard though. Changing my wireless security type isn't an option, any ideas? Windows 7 works superb with the drivers but I prefer XP on this laptop as it can only handle so much and its aging. So I would need XP drivers on an quite frankly an ancient mini pci IBM Wireless card that supports modern WPA2-PSK.

If it's too much trouble I am just going to rip one out of my HP laptop but I prefer not to.

Again, any suggestions?

Thanks

A:IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II WPA2-PSK issue.

No one?

Anyway, it worked on some routers and failed upon others so I decided to bite the bullet and swap the cards from my other laptop.

It works great now, its an Intel something... and connects properly due to better and updated drivers. Interestingly the Thinkpad has all its original parts and the bios reported the CPU, Intel Pentium M and now I have replaced the card it's made it a Centrino (Intel branded chipset groups, Wifi, cpu and whatnot).

For anyone who owns a thinkpad and wish to check the parts list visit ThinkWiki. It maybe for Linux but hardware wise it applies to any OS and does give info on Windows anyway

Hi,

I just acquired a Belkin mini to use with my headphones.

Step 1 is to install the BT adapter. on the support website, it says that because I use Windows 8, I shouldn't have anything to install.

But things don't happen like they're supposed to. it seems that when I plug the USB adapter, something happens but then nothing else. So I install anyway the setup program on the CD. again when installation is over, nothing happens, no desktop icon, no special tray icon.
At this point I should point out that my ACER predator desktop PC has an inbuilt Bluetooth device... but for some reason it too can't seem to connecto to headphones, hence the purchase of the belkin adapter. So in my tray, there already was a bluetooth icon.

So what I did, was check the device manager to see if it recognized hardware. And apparently there is a problem, but this is where my skills end and where I hope to get some help from you guys.

Howdy - Recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1012 mini with an Atheros AR9285 802.11 b/g/n wireless adapter. Hi guys,
I'm going bananas! Here's the scoop. I have a desktop & Dell 1520 laptop running thru a Netgear 2000 router/modem. The problem is with the laptop. I've set up the router wireless with wpa-psk security with the ethernet cable & everything works fine when I disconnect the cable. When I shut down for a night, laptop & router both off, then turn everything on the next day it connects wirelessly & all is fine. Here's the problem. If I leave everything on & let the laptop go into standby & then hit the switch to bring it out of standby, sometimes it connects OK & other time NO!!! When it disconnects & I attempt to re-connect the process with the card utility it assumes it is set for WEP, WHICH IT IS NOT!! & is asking for the appropriate password of either exactly 8 or 13 letters. Incidently the passphrase has 12 letters in it, but it's set for wpa-psk not wep! I've rechecked the router settings & thats what they are so it must be with the adapter.
I figure it's got to be a setting somewhere on the adapter but I haven't a clue.Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help will be appreciated.
Ben

The problem is that network connections don't always work after Standby/Sleep/Hibernate. Make sure you have the latest correct driver for the adapter. There's not much else you can do except try another adapter.

When I have that issue my workaround is to switch the wireless off (if integrated) or disconnect before Standby or Hibernation.

I have an IBM T40 Thinkpad that has a built-in Intel Pro Wireless 2100 LAN 3B Mini PCI adapter. A while back, after trying to set up a router, and monkeying with settings, I found I could no longer connect. The OEM-installed IBM Access Connections was no help, and Windows tells me it cannot configure the adapter/connections. At first I thought the card was defective, but 2 new ones have the same results. I've been using a USB adapter, but would like to get the built-in working again. My friend thought I could remove IBM Access Connections and install different software to operate the adapter.

Two questions:
1.Does this sound feasible?
2.Can someone recommend some software (preferably freeware)?

This is how Dell shipped the computer with the 2100. However, the Installation Guide for the new adapter (2200BG) indicates that the black cable should be connected to Main and the grey to Aux. How would I know which connection configuration is correct? Thanks.

P.S. I don't know if this is of any relevance, but the Intel PRO Wireless 2200BG adapter appears to be intended for HP computers. Due to hideous misfortune I had to do a clean install of my personal copy of Windows Vista and remove the stock Windows XP from my netbook.

Many drivers were added my Microsoft during Vista installation but I have no adapter drivers for either wireless or ethernet controllers. Under device manager I have no category for Network Adapters but instead those two controllers are listed under "Other Devices".

Under HP downloads I found the driver for Qualcomm Mobile Broadband Drivers - Gobi1000 when I went through the process of stating my product ID and OS (Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit). I downloaded it onto my pc, saved it to the flash drive I had to use earlier as a bootable drive to install Vista (knew the lack of native cd/dvd drive would eventually haunt me) and then moved the flash drive to the netbook to run install.

After running the setup a blank 'ms-dos' window popped up, stayed blank and then disappeared. There was no confirmation of success of failure in regards to installation of the driver. But under Device Manager they are still listed under other devices and I am unable to do anything with them.

I downloaded, transported and ran the setups for HP help and support as well as the Wireless Assistant. Both run fine on the Mini. The wireless assistant simply states that Windows has no controllers assigned to find connections to maintain.

Unfortunately, at my school you need a dual band wireless adapter in order to connect to the internet. With my current laptop, there are certain requirements it must meet in order for it to work.
it must be a full height card. An adapter will not work as the antenna wires won't go that far.
It needs to have 2 antenna ports. I have found a few ones which fit all the other specifications, but they appear to have 3 ports.
Obviously it must be PCIe-mini and dual band, as stated in the title
Does anyone know what one to get, or even if there is one that meets those specifications?

A:buying laptop PCIe mini dual band adapter

Your post is confusing for a few reasons:
Laptops do not have expansion slots, PCIe or otherwise. Everything is expanded through the external ports.
Very few laptops are made with dual band adapters right now. It is curious that a school would require something that is only available on top end laptops.
Wires? Network connectivity is done through CAT5 or 6 Ethernet wiring or wirelessly.
Dual band refers to the frequency of the wireless signal: 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
The antennas on a wireless device correspond to the channels that the wireless signal is sent out on. 2 antennae do not equal dual band.
Full height or half height cards are only configurations. The configuration of a card has nothing to do with performance. Where are you going to put a full height card for desktop PC in a laptop?
PCIe-mini makes a little more sense, but contradicts the earlier need for a full height card. These are opposites.
Perhaps it would be better to explain what you are trying to do.

My phone is a Toshiba Portege G710. It has a mini usb port and mini usb headphones work with it. But will this adapter work even though they say it's for Motorola? In other words:
Are the connectors used for audio the same on all USB plugs?
(After all, it's called "Universal Serial Bus")

Thanks for replying, I'd really appreciate it.

A:mini usb to headphone jack adapter compatible with every cell phone?

even though it says USB, when it comes to cell phones they are not wired all the same. I would look for an adapter made specificall for Toshiba Cell phones. The manufacturer of the one that lists it is for Motorola Phone may also manufacture one for your phone.

My laptop will no longer turn on. When the AC adapter is plugged in, the LED light is white indicating power is arriving at the laptop. However, nothing happens when I push the power button. Troubleshooting steps I have completed already include: Hard reset (several times including after each step below)Tried starting without the batteryRemoved all removable components and reseated themRemoved all removable components as well as bottom cover. Cleaned with compressed air. Put everything back.Nothing appears wrong and nothing happened between the last time it turned on and this time that I am aware of. The laptop is out of warranty, and I am pretty handy with computers. Is there anything that can be suggested short of a hardware replacement that would help get this resolved? TIA

The tips I got with this Kensington 33197 power adapter have numbers stenciled on them like N3, N5, N19, etc. The tips sold on their web site make no mention of the "N" numbers and have numbers like K20059, K20050, etc. and there is no cross reference.

You can also see a complete reference for "N" numbers to all the laptops they support at the above link. Again, no mention of the numbers Kensington uses on their site.

I need a cross reference for these kinds of numbers.

Kensington referred me to their telephone tech support; but, there is a language or cultural barrier that prevents their understanding what I need.

Does anyone know of such a reference?

I have an IBM Thinkpad with a High Rate Wireless mini PCI adapter III radio inside. My router is a D-Link DI-524. I'm currently connected through an ethernet cable (DSL).
I have a separate computer connected to the router as the main connection. (I do file and print sharing, but i doubt that effects the problem I'm having.) This laptop (the one with the problem) occasionally connects to the same router through an ethernet cable, but should also be able to connect wirelessly.
The problem now is that my wireless connection does not show up (or rarely shows up) as an available network on my list of available networks. If it does, it's intermittent as to whether I can connect to it. For a while it seemed as though it could only connect to the wireless network if it was also connected by cable. If I can connect it lasts less than a few minutes, before the network disappears as an available network.
At the same time, my neighbors' networks do show up as available. They are protected, so I can't see if I can actually connect through them. I brought in a separate laptop which didn't have any problems connecting through my wireless. Furthermore, I borrowed a wireless usb adapter and was able to see and connect to my wireless and this computer that way. I'd rather not have to use an external advice though if possible.
These problems all started when I installed AVG (firewall and virus protection) about a month and a half ago. I've gone back an... Read more

I just purchased in many PC in a really cool metal case. when I got home I realized that system did not have any kind of fan and I figured this was alright because of its size. later I noticed that the system was very hot (touched w hand). I opened the case and noticed there was the ystem fan pins on the motherboard so I grabbed of the many that I had lying around indused sugru to attachet to the top inside of the case. so far it works really good and everything is fine. but also have these two smaller fans that fit perfectly into beside cutouts of the case and I think would look really cool and also provide further cooling. so I have both fans in the spa so I want them, but I'm not sure what the best route to take and it comes down to power in them neither of them has any plastic suck it on the end of the wires but both have just wires. what my best option would be to strip the wires back a little bit, and cut out little strip to Windows bare wire on the main sys fan's cables, and solder these to them? Would there be enough power provided for the 3 fans? Amy guidance and advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I have been searching for some time for a mini atx power supply
for my moneual htpc case and can't seem to find them anywhere.

At the mounting face it is 5"X3.5"
One screw hole is offset along the small side rather than the long side like atx.
I have a microatx in it right now,but would like to get one that mounts properly
and close up that gap.
Need something that is 400 wat+ and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Anyone seen these anywhere?
The case is out of production, doesn't have a model number and isn't
listed at the moneual site any more.
I don't have the old supply any more.
It got sand in it from a dust storm and went out,so I tossed it.

Got a store-bought Gateway SX-2800 model which is a mini-tower. Upgrading the video card, and as a result I am also upgrading the power supply.

Being a mini-tower, will it definitely need a specialized power supply, or will a standard PSU work?

If it needs a specialized PSU where do you suggest getting them and how - would I take the dimensions of my PSU and then talk to a manufacturer? Or would buying a new case along with a standard PSU be cheaper?

There is a (strong) chance that this thumb drive was damaged by the water event.

You took a significant chance of damaging the computers by plugging it in to either of them.

If I were you,
I would start doing hardware diagnostics to make sure that the USB ports are not damaged!

AND...
Someone else may know a safe way to try to access and retrieve data, but I don't .
I would be inclined to just wirte off the drive (including contents) as a loss.

That's my 2-cents worth, free of charge, for what its worth.

This is a common problem (I see lots of posts)
The problem source is the [Dell] AC adapter. PA-21 Family, 65W, P/N: NX061. It is made in China.
I have an XPS M1330. Using Dell after warranty service, replaced the Mother Board twice, replaced the battery twice, replaced the AC adapter twice - not fixing it.
Turns out the power warning message is very informative. It states "Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or greater for best system performance". So, I plugged in my Dell 95W adapter - WOW Problem Solved.
A lab test of my new Dell 65W AC adapter shows it to be 64.6 watts. If this unit gets hot (like after several hours of use), it may not put out the full 65 watts - the system may not recognize the adapter, it may power the system ok, but won't charge the battery.
These units burn out after only a few months of use. Their cables are too fragile. If Dell's or their supplier's Quality Control can't produce a reliable 65W product - I found seveal "Made In USA" universal adapters.

A:AC Adapter - Alert - "AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined"

Well my solution was simple.
I just removed the battery pack and powered up my notebook. Then I turned off the notebook replaced the battery pack and VOILA. The error message was gone.

I have a HP Mini computer and live in a country that has 110 volts coming out of the wall outlets. I plan to go to an Asian country that probably has 220 volts in the hotel. I don't want to "fry" my computer and so I bought a Remington Model TL-265 International Converter and Adaptor Kit. Unfortunately, the instructions indicate that the converter should "...never (be used) with products containing electronic circuity, i.e. computers stereos, and many digital products...." Can anyone suggest a good converter/adaptor that I can use with my HP Mini computer (and an iPod)? Thanks for any and all suggestions.

A:Power Converter for Mini HP Computer:

Most laptop power supplies will function fro 90 to 240 volts. (read the label on the adapter) All you have to do is get the 240 volt power cord, of an adapter plug. If it is a desktop check the back, most have a 120/240 volt switch, and again you need the 240 volt power cord or adapter.

Hello. I have an HP Stream Mini Desktop 200-010 that will not power on again after it turned itself off while it was idle. No power light, no fan movement, no beep codes. Things I already tried: 1. I replaced the original AC power adapter with a new one. It still does not power on so we can probably rule out a defective AC adapter brick and cable. 2. Held down the power button with the AC cable and other cables unplugged from the computer to discharge the power as stated on the HP support page. It did not fix it. 3. Opened the computer up and checked all the cables inside. This is not quite like a traditional desktop PC, so the only cables I saw in there were to connect the WLAN/Bluetooth card to the antenna on the top and a small cable for the speaker for beep codes. 4. Tried 3different power outlets around the house so a faulty power outlet shouldn't be the case. Is there any other troubleshooting I can try to fix this problem? It is already outside of the 1 year warranty. Normally I would know what to do to fix a problem if it could actually power on but I feel so helpless when it can't even power on to give me beep codes or anything to work with. Thank you in advance!

I have a new Samsung U70 USB Monitor.

It comes with a split USB cable that the manual tells me is needed to be plugged into TWO usb ports on my laptop. This is because it is powered via USB and needs the "extra power" i.e. two usb connections.

However, the cable was too short to reach two USB ports (they are on either side of laptop).

So i managed to install the driver with only one usb plugged in anyway. It also now powers up (and seems to work fine) with just one USB plugged in.

Could i damage it this way? Is it getting full power (maximum results) using one USB? Anything that could go wrong?

Thanks in advance.

You are taking risks.

That panel consumes 4.5 watts, and the limit of one modern USB port is approximately 2.5watts, I would use both.

USB 5 volts at 500 milliamps = approx 2.5 watts.

It should support office.

It is important to note that Windows 7 Starter still includes only a subset of the features offered in the higher editions of Windows 7 such as Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional and above. Windows 7 Starter does not include:

•Aero Glass, meaning you can only use the “Windows Basic” or other opaque themes. It also means you do not get Taskbar Previews or Aero Peek.
•Personalization features for changing desktop backgrounds, window colors, or sound schemes.

Hey all,
I've got a Mini 9, Inspiron 910 with some issues. I had a 3 cell battery pack that wouldn't charge anymore around 2 months after the warranty expired. I purchased a 6 cell battery that was compatible in another Mini 9 I had, but would not work in this particular one. I flashed the BIOS to the latest and greatest (A05 or A06), and found no change. I then proceeded to try and downgrade to A00 to see if that would work.
Where the first flash was successful, the second downgrade flash started, then the screen went blank. Power was supplied via a UPS and the power cord or power buttons were not touched. Now the Mini 9 will not power on. I don't have a battery in it, and it's plugged in with a known working charger. No LED's light up and it simply won't power on. I've pretty much accepted that this is a paper weight at this point, but is there anything I can try? I've had it unplugged and without battery for a week, and that didn't do anything.
Thanks in advance,Spectrum

A:Inspiron Mini 910 BIOS Flash - Now won't power on

There are two options- have the BIOS chip removed and flashed externally or replace the system board. Either procedure is likely to cost almost as much as a replacement netbook - so is likely not worth the expenditure.

Hey guys,

My computer was working fine at home, and I had to move it into school. So, I put the computer in the car and brought it to school. There wasn't any sort of bump or anything that could've damaged the computer, but for some reason the computer won't start up.

When I push the power button, all the fans (including CPU) start up, the LEDs of the computer turn on and everything looks good for about 2 seconds, then the computer shuts down. I tried unplugging peripherals from the power supply, and nothing seemed to work until I decided to unplug the Mini ATX power cable (the four pin cable that plugs directly into the mobo, correct me if this isn't the mini ATX cable), and then it stayed on for awhile. Of course, since that cable wasn't in, my video card wasn't powered, so there wasn't much that happened.

Is this a motherboard short or a power supply short? I don't have another power supply handy to try and fix it, and I was hoping I could get a response as to what is most likely the culprit here.

Thanks in advance.

As my post says I need the specs of both drives, paticularly the type of termination (active, etc). (I am definately NOT a SCSI savvy person)

Heres my problem I have a proprietary graphics computer that uses standard SCSI hard drives up to about 340mb for saving images. It is compatible with most Quantum LPS/Prodrive and Conner drives, especially the 120mb and 270mb versions.
Anyway I got a large number of IBM WDS3160's due to the lack of the latter and they do not work properly.

With the ibm drives I have problems with line noise and detection.

What is the difference (electronically) between an IBM WDS-3160 and a Conner 30100 drive? Is there any way I can get the IBM drive to function similarly to a Conner 30100?

Please note that I am only using one drive in the system.

Thanx for any help

A:Need IBM WDS-3160 specs and Conner cp30100 specs major trouble

I believe I've found a difference between the two drives, it seems that the conner unit automatically enables SCSI parity and the ibm drive makes no mention of it.
Do any of you think this could be the issue? If so how would I enable parity on the ibm drive?

Thanx

Hello Everyone!
Ive been facing a peculiar problem with my Dell inspiron mini 270 of late. Its power light wont go off even after I switch off the laptop thus indicating that it is still being charged! What is even more strange is that in such a state I cannot restart my laptop until after the power light goes off on its own after a few hours. After repeated attempts, I have come to understand that this indicates that now the battery is discharged. Now when I put the power adaptor on and switch on the laptop, it starts. This effectively means that every time I charge the battery and switch off the laptop after some work, I HAVE to wait till the battery is completely discharged to start the laptop again. Guys, guys, I am at my wits end and have extremely close to tearing off my few remaining strands of hair. Any clues anyone?

I bought this back in October, upgraded the BIOS almost immediately and since then it has been very reliable in everyday use (now on Windows 10, 1511). However, during that period there has been the same power issue two or three times. While used on a laptop on battery power it shuts down completely for no apparent reason and cannot be switched on again with the power button. If then connected to the charger the switch operates normally and the PC reboots. The battery monitor shows the tablet at 2% (which should trigger a shutdown when used as a tablet) but the keyboard at ~ 100%.

This suggests to me a specific bug in the firmware or driver which is triggered by a particular set of circumstances, e.g. the battery switchover point happens to coincide with a timed change to sleep mode. Its annoying because apart from a possible loss of work it means I need to carry the charger even though the batteries will last all day.

Two questions. Has anyone else experienced this or seen it reported? Is there a simple way to inform Toshiba in the hope (!) that it might be added to a list of bugs to investigate?
