The sound on my notebook works fine until I connect it via HDMI to an HP Pavilion 24xw monitor. Then the audio disappears. If I disconnect it, the audio comes back. I have tried going to the 'Sound' section of the control panel. There are two options:Speakers Realtek High Definition Audio HP 24xwThe default is Speakers Realtek. When I use the test facility my notebook plays the test sound. I have updated to the latest version of the driver. Not sure which exact model you have. It would help to know the specs, but generally g6 models have unimpressive video power. Not every computer can play serious games; not every car is a race car. Nobody wants to spend money on a better computer or a faster car but you get what you pay for.3 more replies

Is there a ssd m.2 slot in the HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ak112nl? Thanks
The Manual shows one: Manual See p. 45. But we have had reports that if you open the laptop there is in fact no M.2 slot and also in some cases that the M.2 port, if there is one, is disabled. Right now I cannot in good conscience advise anyone to attempt the upgrade. If you are an experienced technician and just happen to have an M.2 mSSD 2280 drive sitting around it might be an interesting exercise but I would not tell someone to go invest in such a drive for this model laptop right now. Your best bet is a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.3 more replies
Groet, jvdw
Your notebook suppoprts the following M.2 SSD disks: M.2 SATA-3 (NGFF):?SSD, 256GB, 2280, M.2, SATA-3, TLC?SSD, 128GB, 2280, M.2, SATA-3, TLC?SSD, 128GB, 2280, M.2, SATA-3, Value DRAM-less That means that the one you chose is not compatible with your Gaming notebook's M.2 slot. The Samsung 950 Pro M.2 256 Gb SSD is a newer version and not NGFF. Hi all! I was wondering if I can upgrade my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M (4 GB dedicated DDR3L) with a more powerful GTX 960M (DDR5) AND if my motherboard does support DDR4 ram Thanks a lot Regards
Hi, 1. No you can't replace video card. The series only has 2 options (depending on CPU): Switchable discrete graphics:NVIDIA N16P-GT (GeForce 950M) with up to 4096 MB of dedicated video memory (256Mx16 DDR3 900MHz x 8 PCs, 1GHz bridge to 900MHz) (Skylake-H)NVIDIA N16S-GT (GeForce 940M) with up to 2048 MB of dedicated video memory (256Mx16 DDR3 900MHz x 4 PCs, 1GHz bridge to 900MHz) (Skylake-U) 2. No, it ONLY supports DDR3L RAM. Please note: DDR4 RAM won't fit to DDR3 and DDR3L slots. Regards.2 more replies
Hi, I am looking to upgrade my HP Pavilion 500-214 to run games smoothly. I am looking at upgrading my video card and power supply but, I am unsure on what is compatible with my current motherboard. I am very new to building a gaming pc and was looking for some insite. I was looking at getting a NVidia GTX 750 ti and upgrading to a gold rated power supply probably 600w. My utimate goal is to run games like GTA 5, Fallout 4, The Divison, So on so forth on HIgh or Very High Graphics. Your help would be very much appreciated! Thank you!
@ATSweatt?, welcome to the forum. The best way to determine which video cards will do what you need is, run a search for each game that you want to play for system requirements. This will tell you the Minimum Requirements and the Recommended Requirements. For instance, Fallout 4 shows Minimum - GeForce GTX 550Ti and Recommended - GeForce GTX 780. Since you want to play the games at high or very high settings, the Recommended Requirements would be what you need. I like EVGA products. Their Tech Support (1-888-881-3842) is very good. I suggest contacting them to determine which is the best card for your system and needs. They are the experts on their products. The power supply unit (PSU) is much easier. Any standard ATX PSU will work. I suggest measuring the existing PSU and comparing them to the one that you choose. For either of the video cards above, a 600W PSU would be fine. You should add at least 100W above what the video card needs to run properly. This will give you extra power for peak times. I like Corsair products. A modular PSU is very good for smaller cases. This allows you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary. Now, I have given you a lot of information to consider. I would like you to find the video card and PSU that you want. Then, come back and we will discuss your choices. This is the way... Read more1 more replies

Hi all, I got a new laptop today and font in both chrome and mozzila firefox are way too tiny. My current resolution is 1920x1080, and if I change it to anything less it becomes way lass sharp, and, of course, doesn't fit the screen, and I can't work on that. I have a Windows 10, if that matters. Since this was quite an expensive laptop for me and I use it for work throughout the day, I don't want to constantly have to enlarge the font size with Ctrl and + but I need a permanent solution. Is there any? Thanks in advance for any help, for I'm getting quite desperate! p.s. I don't either like the layout when I change the font size in the settings of the browser itself
Hi Zinky first let me welcome you to HP support forums where we try our best to help people to resolve computer issues. As you posted your font is too small 1080p on the laptop follow the steps below as i provide that will enlarge font sizes. 1. Go to start button click on all apps find Windows System folder and open Control Panel 2. Click on Appearance and Personalization 3. Click on Make text and other items smaller or larger. 4. Configure your settings from that if it still too small you got to magnify it by chrome by 100% to 110 or 120% If this resolved your issue please drop a kudos point and accept the solution to your problem. Purchased "HP Pavilion Laptop-gaming 17t touch" and have now found two specs that are NOT as listed on the HP store website, without even powering it on yet: Display '17.3" diagonal FHD IPS UWVA anti-glare WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080) Touchscreen' is NOT anti-glare--it is highly reflective, so much so that it is unusable in our office environment--it is basically a mirror. Weight is listed as 6.06 lb -- however, I just weighed it, and it is 7.29 lb! That's 1 1/4 pounds or 20% heavier than it is supposed to be. That is a significant difference! Has anyone else purchased this laptop and found this to be the case? Very false advertising. Makes me wonder how realistic the supposed "Up to 9 hours and 30 minutes" of battery life is compared to other similar models.More replies
Good morning, I wanted a certain piece of information about the possibility of replacing the RAM of the notebook model in question, which is a DDR3L with the highest performing DDR4. In fact I noticed that the Chiptest and processor are identical to other notebook models that already come standard with Nuon DDR4. The PIN of DDR4 modules can therefore be adapted to this model that leaves the factory with DDR3L? In fact I love this gaming model especially for HD 2TB not mounting any other notebook with equal performance. Thank youMore replies
Hi, just want to share this problem & solution with others. My laptop will not boot up, without the battery inserted. When I press the power button without the battery, the power light is "on", the screen looked powered up, but it's always black. It will not load Windows or anything. After I inserted the battery, it worked. Reading from the other posts, I think it might be due to static. What happened to me was:- I have the habit of storing the laptop without its battery, to conserve battery power.- I stored my laptop (without battery) inside an Ikea PS metal cabinet.- On top of the metal cabinet is a Samsung LED TV, I watched for like 2 hours.- I think static was created & it static charged the laptop. The solution is (from other post) unplug the cord & battery, then press the power button of the laptop for maybe 20 secs. This discharges the static. Plug the power cord back (still leaving the battery out) & press the power button of the latop, it should boot up.More replies

Grazie

i was inquiring office depot about this desktop and was told that the laptop oveheats when an external monitor is hooked up to it and was wondering why there is a vga port to begin with if thats the issue
Hi, There are few things I would like to say: 1. The machine does not have VGA port. It has ? 2 SuperSpeed USB 3.0? 1 Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0? 1 HDMI? 1 RJ-45 (LAN)? 1 Headphone-out/microphone-in combo jack That HDMI port is for you to connect to an external BIGger monitor for you to enjoy games if you wish. 2. Not true, I connect to external monitors nearly all my laptops . Playing games on a laptop can always cause "overheating", no matter what. Regards.1 more replies
So, I have a fairly new computer (it's less than a year old) that randomly decided not to boot up past the splash screen. I attempt to enter the BIOS, but it still doesn't work, even after waiting 2 hours. Fearful that it's a motherboard problem, I open up the tower and disconnected the hard disk drive. The computer POSTed perfectly without the HDD, which alludes to a HDD malfunction.
I think the HDD may have overheated since Firedog installed a wireless card when we bought the computer, but left a port open, so the fan wasn't really circulating the hot air out. Next time I get a new computer, I'll put the extra cards in myself.
My question is, what are my options? It's a SATA Seagate 500GB HDD; the motherboard obviously has IDE capabilities. If I get a new HDD (assuming that's the issue), how can I recover my operating system (Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit)? I still have the product key on the case of the tower, but that's pretty much it. Is there any way to possibly recover the data on the HDD myself, or will I have to go to a specialty place that has the right hardware (assuming it's even possible).

a simple question......will a HP Pavilion 15-n034sa motherboard fit into a HP Pavilion 15-n083sa ?
help me obi-wan youre my only hope!!
Actually that's a hard question, generally its not possible to install another motherboard, sometimes it is. In this case one is an AMD platform and the other is an Intel platform, there could be tons of differences in mounting holes, physical design, clearance, connectors, heat dissipation requirements, cooling systems, etc. Laptops are not like desktops that use more standardized designs.

I pre-installed windows 7 Home Premium on a new 1TB HDD using my Hp pavilion Slimline before installing the HDD in my new gaming computer build and now it will not boot. First I got a message from microsoft saying something along the lines, "You
have installed a new processor, let microsoft search for a repair or repair it for you or something like that".
I bought the 1TB HDD and windows 7 home premium disc from Amazon as a bundle deal/Sale knowing I had plans of purchasing the rest of the components, (after doing a price comparison first for building my DREAM Gaming computer). Now I already had a

just have a HDD with the OS preinstalled and ready for my build. Well I got the Slimline working fine for a few days, (3 or 4 at best), then the GPU went out again so I removed the HDD from the Slimline, set it aside for my build.

My wife's HP Pavilion has hit the bunk, or so it seems.
It's a four year old laptop, which has been suffering from serious spyware problems for a while. Before it quit, I ran Panda active scan on it, and it detected 200+ malware infections. When I tried cleaning out Temp. Internet files, cookies, etc., IE would freeze and not respond.
Then - the mouse quit on logon. So, I thought, I've had it, time to reformat and reinstall manufacturer software. Which I did, only to find out that on boot-up mouse and keyboard both refused to respond. Not good.
Ran the diagnostic utility, which said something about RAM being set wrong, and then point out some non-specific "board problem".
Does anyone have any idea what this is about, before I reach for my biggest sledge hammer and have some quality time in my backyard with this piece of junk? :suspiciou

I just bought an HP Pavilion and tried to set it up. I could not get the existing monitor to work with the new hard drive. He new Pavilion does not have the same way of connecting the monitor that the old one did. I had to take it apart and put the older machine back in. Why can't I connect my monitor. The plug just won't fit.
Okay, we need more information from you, like... -PC model number (not just Pavilion, but the whole model number as a LOT of Pavilion PCs exist.)-Monitor model number and brand, or pictures of ports on the rear. It sounds like you will need to buy an adaptor which is easy enough to obtain; we just need to know which adaptor to get you.

Right mate do you have all the Quickplay software. If so all you need to do is goto Start, Computer, Devices, Hardware. At the top of the page you will see System Devices. Click it.
You will then see a window just like XP. Hit the hardware tab then scroll down to the USB line.
Once there you should see "USB composite device". Right click on it and choose Enable.
There will be a pause as the device is enabled.
You will then need to scroll up a little and find "imaging devices". Right click on "HP Webcam" and enable it.
That should sort it out. If not let us know.... Hope that helps. Peace

My HP Pavilion 15 automatically intalled the Windows 10 1607 update but it stopped my keyboard working. Oddly it was possible to enter my PIN but then the keyboard no longer worked after the home screen appeared. Using a USB keyboard gave the same result. I removed the update and the keyboard worked again but I assume if I let the 1607 update install again the same problem will happen. I have used the HP Supprt Assistant and installed all the updates but the BIOS update will not go away. It looks like the BIOS update is not supported for this model. The currnt BIOS is F.43 07/29/2016. The latest is F.43 8/15/2016 I tried to make a USB flash drive after identifying my System ID as 2293 but when selecting the BIOS file to install 02293.bin is not listed. The only ones available are 0227D.bin, 02291.bin, 0227A.bin, 02299.bin and 02292.bin. My question is where can I get the BIOS update file to match my Syetm Board ID (2293) and will updating the BIOS enable me to run the Windows 10 1607 update?More replies
I just bought this computer on May 7th. Computer shut itself off and tried to reboot itself. Then reported that there is no hard drive. Now mind you I have been using this computer for over three weeks now. I shut down the system for the night, turned it on the next morning and it worked for about 5 hours. Then shut itself off came back on went into repair mode just to end up saying there was no hard drive. Called HP and spoke with someone I could barely understand. I spent 5 and 1/2 hours on the phone trying to get this to work. She asked if there was any other progams on the computer. I told her nothing but the anti-virus. She decided it was my antivirus that was not compatable. She proceeded to walk me thru the recovery and it still didn't work. So I was told to wait until June 6th for a usb stick system recovery. It will fix the issue. Today June 6th I received the system recovery usb stick, followed instructions and low and behold again there is no hard drive. I spent over $800 on a computer that I can't get to work. Can someone please help me?

Would like to pose this question and see if any of the group can assist me.
I currently image our new CPU's with a secure image of Windows XP Sp2. Our computers (desktop and laptops) mainly consist of Dell's and images work fine thanks to our information management staff. However, our director has an HP Pavilion dv8000 notebook that I cant get an image to take on it. It just goes into a cycle of choosing safemode or boot normal.
The weird thing is, I have an option at the start of the image to choose "network" or non-network (stand alone) and the stand alone image works fine.
Are they any settings on this HP that I need to turn off or on for the network image to work?
Thanks in advance
We have purchased 5 HP Pavilion 550-132d having a windows 10 OS, we need to downgrade the OS to windows 7 32 bit because we have a system that only run up to win 7 32 bit. But unfortunately upon installing the win 7 32 bit OS, the mouse/keyboard freezes! and general 'hanging' during installation . When we purchased the computers we are expecting that we could install windows 7 without any difficulty since windows 7 is still on the market. Can we have a work around so that we could install win 7 32 bit on those 5 new HP Pavilion 550. We will greatly appreciate immediate response on this. Thank you very much.
Hi, Windows 7 drivers are on the following link: http://support.hp.com/ph-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-500-Desktop-PC-series/8499648/model/8741... My suggestion: download HP Support Assisstant (HPSA) from the above link and install to your machines, After that use HPSA to run Updates and it will fix driver problems for you. HP Pavilion g7 right speaker is non-functional. The issue occurred after unit was dropped. I am absolutely certain it is not driver, software or balance settings etc etc etc... Is it possible that the connection was jarred loose somehow? Both channels work through headphones.
Could be the connection, or something broke like the actual speaker, one of the wires, or the circuit board/adapter/plug for the speaker.
You will need to open it up and a look, no other way around that.

Laptop fell off of bed onto carpet. Video display had blue lines. When touching the monitor it corrected itself. However, later the display wouldn't show. The computer would turn and I could hear the startup sound. Attached to a external monitor and it worked. Then I updated the AMD Graphic Drive and restarted the computer. Won't show on the external monitor and no startup sound. Can hear the fan. Removed the RAM and powered up the computer and heard the mother board beep. What's wrong with my laptop.More replies
Any information that might help will be greatly appreciated.
I have a H,P pavilion 763n with windows xp.
I bought it new but never got a system recovery disk.
It has a secondary hard drive that stores all of the system recovery stuff.
Whenever I had any problems before I have used it and it worked great to totally toast the comp back to how I got it.
The problem that I am having is my son got some kind of bug on it where it wouldn't do anything.
SO, I bought and tried to put in vista but it didn't work so I bought win,XP and it installed so the comp works fairly well but nothing that was installed from H,P isn't there.
The secondary hard drive that has all of the recovery stuff is still there but their is no way to get to it.
What can I do ?
With what I spent on vista and a new xp I could of bought a new cheap comp but I like this one.
It does (or did)everything that I would like it to do but now it don't.
Please help in any way that you can.
Thank you for your time.

it looks like another friend dropped off a computer that is completely messed up. its a hp pavilion 6640 or somthing like that. my friend claims it has upgraded memory but i know it came with at least 64mb. it came with win 98 on it, then was upgraded to millenium but dragged ****. i tried putting ubuntu 5.10 and 6.10( whatever the newest discs are) but it didnt work, then it made sense when i found out the specs of the machine. so is there a user friendly linux or a way to crack win 98 se? the box dosent have a "key" sticker on it so no 98 se key.
It should run ubuntu. I had a lower spec'd Pavilion with a P2 300 in it that came with 48 megs of ram. I upgraded the ram and had Mandrake 7 running on it fine.
I was having some issues with my laptop being slow and randomly shutting down applications that were open. I scanned for viruses thinking that could be the cause, but none were found. I then decided to just do a total reset and erase literally everything on there. The reset got to around 62% and then it said it failed. Now my laptop will not completely turn on. It just goes to a black screen with the HP logo and then back to a black screen. Every once in a while an error screen pops up with a message saying something like CMOS checksum error. I have tried resetting it with the power button but it haven't worked. Does anyone know how to fix this? It's only a couple months old and I really don't want to buy a new one!More replies
I am trying to fix my granddaughter computer hp pavilion dv4-1514dx, I did reinstall windows 7 and I have al kinds of errors:
After the reinstallation of windows 7, I have this message: ?No bootable device-Insert boot disk and press any key?
When I shut the computer and reboot again I get this message:
Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows in this computer, restart the installation.?
Then I restart again and this is what happens:
Application close [info] NO HDD
Hard drive test ok
Some times the computer restarts ok but then ask for administrator password
Administrator password is Clear in the bios set up
Can you help?
It sounds like something went wrong during the Windows re-installation. Since it sounds like you have installation media and this is a fresh install anyway, the first thing I would do is try installing again from the Installation DVD.12 more replies

hey, i've had a hp detachable pavilion x2 for a week or so, it came with 8.1 on it and i wasn't going to upgrade to 10 but thought sod it and upgraded earlier and now my mouse touchpad randomly stops working, the mouse pointer disappears and the keybooard stops working, i have to use an on screen keyboard and use the touch screen to get around
it says it is a ELAN touchpad, i've spent over an hour now googling this issue. all signs are pointing to it being a driver issue after a windows 10 upgrade yet i haven't seen an actual fix anywhere. can anyone point me to a link of the driver that i need please before i throw this thing into the street
elan say to contact manufacturer yet HP have nothing on their website unless i have completely missed something obvious. please help
If you go to the linked HP page and enter your product number, you should be able to find the HP drivers for your touchpad: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp/
If there are no Win10 drivers, then you should not have upgraded to Win10, because not every HP machine running Win8.1 is upgradeable to Win10 without problems. You could have checked the compatibility on the HP site prior to the upgrade.
I have been trying to help a friend update or correct her winxp on her HP pavilion 520w
I have a copy of my winxp cd from my dell system however I dont have the product key
code to use it. So I have tried repeatedly to reset her computer to boot from her cdrom without success. I even posted here last week and someone suggested to tap the delete
key when rebooting to change the boot sequence. I wasnt able to get it to work.
However I did accidently discover that tapping F10 brings up the Recover system on her computer. Not knowing exactly for sure if I could just correct her winxp with recoverying the whole system I turned off the computer to stop it. I have 3 questions
1) Can anyone tell me if the Recovery System on this HP model allows you to correct a current copy of your windows without reformatting?
2) Can anyone tell me how to set this HP model to reboot from the CD-rom?
3) How do I access the bios to change the boot sequence?

Where do I find HP PC tools so that I might perform HP PC SYSTEM RECOVERY ?
I've tried doing a SYSTEM RESTORE from the SYSTEM TOOLS menu and it goes through the process and then restarts only to say that it failed. Any advise would be refreshing!

My Hp says this, what do I do ,?? Hp Battery alert The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low. For optimal performance , this battery may need to be replaced primary < internal > battery ( 601) please help me me I work from home and no computer is not good lol.. Than you in advance
Hi, The error 'Primary (internal) Battery (601)' does indicate that your notebooks main battery ( not the cmos battery as the error tends to suggest ) is showing signs of wear and you may want to consider replacing it - the 601 error typically occurs when the storage capacity has fallen below 25% of its original value. Further information on this can be found on the following HP document. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443470 This is a warranty item, so if your notebook is still covered, contact HP and arrange to have it replaced - If needed, you can check your warranty status Here. If you live in the US, contact HP Here. If you are in another part of the world, start Here. Regards, DP-K1 more replies
