I have bought this laptop with high configuration in Nov 2013, on March 2014 I found the Left Hinge broken, I keep on using for some time then keep using with external monitor, now i wanted to get it fixed, and noone fixing it saying no parts available, please help me to fix it.

Had to take apart my laptop last night. Found the left hinge had broken away from the plastic. Found a number of threads about this exact topic. Would have replied to one of those but it appears they are closed. Need to know where to get a replacement part. If this is the wrong forum please move to the correct one.

The left hinge is broken on my HP Envy 17" Touchsmart notebook.  The bottom plastic casing is also coming away. It is hard to open and close the laptop without causing more problems and I'm worried about the screen cracking.  My local tech service has been trying to source replacement parts, but has found none available. They have identified that this is a common problem with this model, and I see there are hundreds of postings with the same problem.  Please could you help?

My left hinge has recently become visibly broken, with the top keyboard metal casing and the bottom black plastic casing becoming seperated near the hinge. I have also noticed the fan making rattling sounds as if broken pieces from the hinge have entered it. The right hinge also was slightly opening the case but tighting the screw on that side has kept that from reoccuring. Although I put in a new screw into the left hand side from enderneath the case, it has since fallen though into the casing or out completely due to the broken hinge part inside. I have seen many posts on here talking about a similar problem and many have been frustrated with the poor repsonse from HP who haven't wanted to repair the laptops for free in these cases, as this seems to be a design fault. I am no longer under warranty and do not have 100 + to fork out on a laptop which was roughly 800 RRP which is not even 2 years old due to a design fault. Is there any other way of repairing. Also, I had someobody look at this, and they say this can only be repaired with a new top case part number 720570-001.However, this isn't directly sold by HP at the moment, only through resellers and it seems that is roughly 180. Any help on this issue would be much appreciated as I am a student and tutor  and so I rely on this laptop very much and it is vital that it is working without issue at the moment as it is the middle of exam period. Regards,ARIA

 I have the exact same problem that I had been hearing when using the PC for a whie, maybe 6 months or more, but did not actually see the issue until I had to take the case apart to replace a fan that had failed (according to BSOD). What turned out to be the cause of the constant clattering and the fan failure, etc. was the pieces of the base that ,once upon a time, held the fitting that the hinge screws went into. The aggravating thing about this is that I had a Care Pack that had just expired on 8/15 which I feel sure would have covered at least the fan replacement if not the required parts for the hinge. If anything is being done about this issue, please let me know

Kevin, As a direct result of your input, I have since been contacted by Shaun with the Hewlett Packard AMS TCO Escalations Team and it appears that we may have come to an agreeable solution to resolve my broken hinge and destroyed fan issue. Although it is too soon to mark this as Resolved, I am really happy with the degree of ownership that Shaun has taken with my concerns. I do feel that this will come to a positive conclusion and will be sure that Kudos are made to you and Shaun and others as merited. New Parts, including new hinges and top and bottom cover, all received Saturday (overnight shipping included). Many Thanks to you and Shaun for your help. My laptop is a few years old but I have seen that this a chronic problem. The case is coming apart on both sides by the hinges. The hinges now do not work properly. Let me know what I can do!

Hello,  I purchased an HP Envy Touchsmart 15 a little over a year ago. The hinge seems to have come unglued fromt the inside. I read that the HP Envy is prone to this, since the hinge is glued in production as opposed to being fastened with a screw. I'm a graduate student, and I'm unable to use my HP for schoolwork due to the faulty hinge. The computer has been handled carefully, and it's never been dropped. This is my first HP. It was great when it was working; however, a laptop that costs nearly a grand and works only for 1 year due to the construction is extremelhy dissapointing.  I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how it was handled by HP. The left hinge has come adrift and is causing the case to bulge.The laptop is no longer under warranty however this seems to be a very common fault (found after doing some searching)This is my third HP laptop and the first one to give me any trouble at all, so i was unprepared for this problem to present itself.Is there anything that HP can do, considering how prevelant the issue seems to be? Thanx,

Hello, I have had my laptop for over 2 years now. I have really been taking a great care of it and I have been more than satisfied with it until this week. One of the hinges suddenly cracked open. I did not drop it nor did I cause the damage. It really worries me that the hinge practically broke by itself and it seems as it is a common problem. I cannot close my laptop and I am afraid that my screen will get damaged if I don't get it fixed asap. And I really need my laptop for college and for work. I would love to hear from HP team on how to solve this problem quickly. The left hinge and the plastic began to separate from eachother, and now its so bad that the fan has apparantly stopped working. Will HP fix this problem? If not, I will definitely be looking at a mac or something that wont break just from average use of a laptop.

Hello, I bought this HP ENVY m6-n015dx Notebook PC   laptop in November 2014. Just two months back when I was in india laptop hinge broke for no reason at all. It was not dropped nor manhandled in any way. In India NO HP service centers were ready to service this laptop as this was purchased in USA. The left Hinge is pulling the upper portion of my wife's computer off , as the very heavy touchscreen applied too much torque to the notebook case . I have read in the forums that is is a very common issue with this model. My il-laws bought the same computer for my wife and her brother, and the same thing has happened to both computers. Is there any way this can be fixed? I have seen in the forums than many other people have this same problem, but I have not seen anyone post anything about any solutions to it. Any assistance or advice would be appreciated.

As you said this is a common problem with HP Envy's. I pulled apart my laptop to replace the fan in it and having the same problem as you j decided to take a look at it. What it was was a broken Skrew Hole (Sorry I'm having a mind blank) but where the skrew connects to the motherboard has been broken. This is a small peice of plastic. There is no real way of fixing this however there is actually a skrew right beside that one. Apart from when your moving the screen and the look of it, it woint damage your computer and nothing will come falling off it e.g screen, surround. I'm sorry but that's all the information/advice I can offer

Very frustrated with this...I opened the laptop gently as I would always do  and the hinge on the left side of the laptop just snapped and popped out of the plastic monitor frame.  The design of the hinges are just terrible and i can now see how they work because the case has been damaged just from opening and closing the laptop.  I can now see inside the whole left side of the case.  To top it off I have already invested considerable time into upgrading the OS to Windows 10 and customizing and installing software on this laptop. I cannot close my laptop entirely since the screen closes on an incorrect angle. Since I am out of warranty, is there any way to fix this problem? After reading several posts, it seems to be a common problem with the envy models.

The right hinge broke on my ENVY m6. Now the left one is about to go. The waranty is up and I have noticed that this is a common problem with this product. I should hope that there has been a recall on this. HP should at least repair the issue free of charge (waranty or no waranty). I take great care of my things and my computer is no exception. Please give me advice on this one. I am extremely disappointed at this point.

After two years of use the left Hinge on my HP Envy broke.  Where does one get it fixed and is it fixable?  It seems to interfer with the usage if one moves the lid back and forth.  Is it connected to hardware that will evenutally shut my computer down?  I would rather be able to take it a part and put a replacement hinge instead of sending it away?

The left hinge of my Envy 15 has broken for no obvious reason.  It started about a week ago and is getting worse. The case near the hinge is now opening up and today a screw fell out.  It's no longer under warranty, but it looks like this is a common problem.  Can I get this fixed through HP?

The left Hinge on my HP Envy has become loose; this poses a problem when opening/closing the lid as it grinds against the casing.  I've had a lot of difficulty navigating HP's Customer support website.  I travel a lot with this laptop and despite treating it with great care the hinge has come loose/broken (from what I understand has become a common problem).  I am out of the warranty and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a few repair options.  I like HP, I find this whole issue disheartening.   Thank you for any help you can give.

My left hinge is broken I am guessing by reading other complaints? I have had this laptop for a little over a year and have never mishandled it in and kind of way. Now it will not turn on because it is saying problems with the fan because everytime I open it the bottom pops off. I tried to email HP but they would not reply because my warranty was up August 15th. I was wondering how much it would cost for HP to fix it? Or the Geek Squad with Best Buy? I need it fixed as soon as possible! It is my school laptop.

I have the same problem as many others on the forum-the left side hinge broke in normal usage.   The laptop is out of warranty by 8 months.  I called HP support and was informed there is no recall.  This is my wife's latpop that she uses for many hours each day.   Is there any assistance available from HP?  I am sure this is a manufacturing defect. Regards,

Some time ago, I noticed my left hinge wasn't working correctly. I began to split the computer apart while opening and closing. I've seen this is a pretty wide-spread issue with this model and i'd like to know what can be done. I've just been keeping it open, as to not make it completley unusable, but that's not a real solution.Thanks for your help!

Bought my expensive laptop in 2014 and just over a year the left hinge started breaking. Its a sparingly used laptop and now seems to pull away at the bottom panel if I try to open or close the display . The left hinge is prying the bottom panel.I am worried the laptop will break if I try using it anymore. Never been dropped and was taken good care of.Did not expect HP to give way so easily when other laptops much cheaper dont have this basic hinge issue. At this point I am terribly disappointed with HP but need to get it fixed. Please help.

I've got a HP Envy 17 J171sa touchsmart laptop. It is just 2 months out of the the 2 year warranty and now the left hinge is making a cracking noise when opening and pushes the bottom of the casing open. This laptop has already had to go back under warranty twice, once when it was 2 months old for a new motherboard and then 5 months ago a white spot appeared on the bottom left side of the screen and had to have a replacement screen, now this. I expected better quality from HP especially when it was nearly 1,000 to purchase the laptop. I've looked after this laptop and been very careful with it, only opened and closed once a day and would not expect this to happen. Very disappointed.

Had this laptop for 1 year and 5 months, the other day my left hinge just started poping out when I open and close it. It looks and sounds bad, though I can pop it back in, I have a bad feeling it's going to get worse and the other side may start. Of course my warranty just expired 5 months ago, and I've heard other reports of this so I hope I can get this fixed for free since it seems to be a HP design flaw. I use my laptop as a desktop really so I use the HDMI and only used the actual screena  few times, I lift is just enough to hit the power button, but this still happened. I'm not sure how to go about this since HP keeps trying to charge people for this fix. Thanks!

HI:  I saw one topic in the forum about complaining this type of laptop left hinge broken issue, many customers like me had same problem. i bought my laptop from microsoft store directly almost 3 years ago, my wife used it at home without moving most of time  and not opening/closing quite offten, just 2 months ago, my wife changed job and needed to carry the laptop between home and office, then only 2 months past, this laptop was broken on left higne, she was really connerced laptop would not work anymore one day when opening it.  what a bad hardware quality it is! based on many people had same issue, almost for sure, it belongs to kind of design or product defective, should be recalled.  i post pictures to show where issue is and my laptop info. hopefully i could be treated as HP customer thanksym3017

I bought HP over Acer, Lenovo and Asus because i believed that the one thing that HP offers each time, is exquisite build quality. However, today I was met with a nasty surprise. The left hinge (one near the power button) has seemingly come undone, as if on its own.  Surprised as I was, I contacted technical support. Surprise Surprise, my warranty information is wrong. Ive lost out on half an years warranty services.  FLASH BACK: DUBAI - Notebook bought on the 3rd of Feb, 13 - High hopes.SKIP TO PRESENT: INDIA - Broken hinge and warranty lost. So I took a deep breath, and opened up the trusty HPSA again, informing the specialist about my "mistaken date of purchase" (note, I am in India at the time). I am informed by the technician that i have to "contact the HP tech assistance in UAE to rectify the issue." STRIKE ONE. So, everyone knows how "good" the waranty services in India are. I remember having an old all in one HP printer. The printer malfunctioned, so we took it to the closest "Authorised" HP service centre. The first day we went, we werent given any "service". I bought my envy j115tx 15" touchsmart end of Aug 2014 . Its nearly 4 months old and recently the left hinge on my laptop has dropped out of position and has pushed the back casing of the laptop out, disrupting one of the fans.It has not been dropped. I noticed it had become creeky when opening the lid of the laptop, I can see the back casing popping out when opening the the lid and the Kensington lock is out of alignment (as it pops down with the back casing) Been using HP servers at work and recomended but this is my first HP product for personal use and the hinge design seems to be a serious flaw here. Need a solution guys... have read similar posts about same issue..whats going on?

Hi, i have my left hinge broken. it all of a sudden started geting harder to open the laptop and in 2-3 days when i pused the screen upwords its jut broke. i would liek to know how i can get this repaired. i also noticed that the left side of the laptop is heating up so badly. As has happened with many other people, the left hinge on my laptop is breaking loose.  I just dumped out a bunch of loose plastic chips that were rattling around inside.  I have to hold the bottom half of the case closed to keep the hinge from prying the case open when closing the laptop.  The right hinge seems OK so far.  I assume I need to get this fixed...

First, I LOVE Hp laptops!!! Being the one that buys all the Electronics for my household.  We currently we have five, everyone has a HP laptop. But my HP ENVY TouchSmart 17-j140us  The hinge just snaps and pops every time you open the laptop and now the case Is coming apart no mater how carefully I try to  Open It   I paid over $1000 for a glorified paperweight.  Its only 18 months old!!!!! Help my left hinge is broken like so many others and I'm out of warranty! I just spent 2 hours on the phone with HP only to discover I will be charged $220!! It's clearly a design error since it's happened to literally hundreds of others with this computer! There needs to be a recall it's not fair to have to pay for something that I've never dropped, etc. I've also read where some have gotten theirs repaired free of charge without being covered under warranty

My HP has had a hinge failure.  I purchased it less than a year ago and it has been giving my problems for a few months now. When you open or close the lid, the bottom casing literally splits apart. There is some broken plastic piece inside. I would really hope there is a resolution for this? Thanks,  Laceb

Hi, I have a HP envy 17-j141na which still has extended warranty cover. The left hinge internal mountinghas just crumbled inside the case and the bottom cover has come away. I have just found out this seems to be a common problem.What do I need to do to get the hinge repaired? The left hinge on my My Envy 6-1019NR sleekbook snapped and is now broken. The hinge is now sticking outside of the bezel. All I did was just open my laptop like I normally do and the hinge snapped. I didn't drop it. This is very frustrating because I've had this laptop for 3-4 years and I've been opening it up as normal. What's also frustrating is reading from previous forum posts (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Frustrated-with-HP-Envy-6-1001T...), this was a bad design issue that has affected many other customers. What can I do to get this fixed? I don't think I should pay $60 to fix a design flaw issue to 'cut corners,' and my warranty expired.

My wife's Envy m7-n109dx touchscreen laptop has a broken hinge on the left side.  Just happened on 9/21/16.  Product # is M1W11UA#ABA.  I have the same model but no issues yet.  She takes great care of it because of the cost. Never been dropped or mishandled.    She went to open the cover and heard an unusual creak and when she closed it she heard a snap.  We bought ours on 2/8/16 so still under warranty.  Any one else have the same issue?  Online research shows that other models of Envy laptops having the same issue.

I have had the same situation again actually. It did come off whilst it was in warranty and HP fixed it somehow. Now, again it has come off from the same place. Not sure how to fix it? What all does it need to be fixed? I understood from different sources that I need back cover and some sort of front panel. Please guide me. Thanks.

I loved HP computers for their latest components and I have multiple computers in different sizes. But this Envy 15-J151NR is really bad design and broke the left hinge off the base enclosure causing the enclosure to raise up and cause gap between enclosure and top cover! Hinge on the display side is holding fine, I bought this notebook in MAY 2014 and it is out of warranty! I would appreciate and continue my love to HP computers, if HP can offer to replace the base enclosure at no cost! Hope HP support can respond ASAP since this issue needs to be covered via some sort of recall to compensate the design flaw!

One of the screws that holds my HP Envy 17 - j013cl laptop casing together no longer attaches to anything. It appears that the screw was once attached to a plastic fitting, but now that fitting is broken and the pieces of plastic are loose inside the laptop. When I open the laptop, the casing pulls apart near the hinge. I purchased the factory refurbished laptop in January of this year. How can the laptop be repaired? One source told me that they would have to replace the entire cover ... IF they could find one.  Is this repair covered under warranty? I just found a topic for the same issue with the dv7 "dv7 Left hinge pulling case apart? What the heck!".  It appears that HP have some real widespread problems with the left hinge of their laptop casings!

It appears that this is a common hardware problem for over two years, based on  the posts.  This is my son's laptop for college, so we have now had to swap out our home Hp Pavilion laptop with him.  We purchased a two year HP warranty, and it just recently expired.  This is our family's seventh HP desktop or laptop.  How is HP dealing with this issue?

Last year while my daughter was at school she started reporting to me that her HP Envy Touchsmart 15" laptop's case was pulling apart at the corners.  Then she started reporting hearing rattling noises inside the case, then the fan stopped working.   I called HP support, and was told by one person the laptop was under warranty, but that wouldn't be covered because of normal wear and tear.  I called back later and then was told the laptop was not under warranty.  I called back several times, and got a variety of answers all of which added up to between $300 and $500 for repairs on a laptop that I spent $700 on! When she came home for a break from school, I took apart the laptop and removed the debries from the fan (I had purchased a replacement fan which I didn't need) and the laptop stopped overheating.  Next I tackled the hinge problem which by this time had progressed to be both hinges.  The weak plastic connections on the bottom were in bad shape, cracked and peices missing.  So (being the brain surgeon I am ) I decided to use epoxy to more firmly affix the hinges to the case.  That fix has now failed. I have seen and posted on other threads that this type of failure is (despite what HP support says) fairly common in the whole line of HP consumer grade laptops!  Before this, I had mainly used HP business grade laptops and had thought that the quality there would also be in the consumer grade laptops.  My... Bought Envy in December 2014.  At about 19 months I noticed the hinge was not working right and I found a small screw which fell out.  The hinge has gotten worse over the last month or so even though I  have been careful with it. I am the only user.  I saw many other posts about hinge problems on the envy.  Is Hp doing anything about this problem?  I believe its only a one year warrenty.  Am I SOL because of this?

Hello!I bought my computer about 11 months ago for college and the past month it has been having some weird cracking noises when opening/closing the lid. A friend of mine told me to watch out since he had the same computer and it had broken off. I noticed today that theroght hinge is actually starting to come out and the base of the computer is also getting loose. This is very strange since I barely move my computer from the desk since it is so big, plus I have a smaller one that I use to take to classes so I don't mess with this one for stuff that is unnecessary. Hi HP Team, This is the second time that my hinge has malfunctioned. My HP Envy was sent in for repair a year ago under warranty, and now warranty is up and the same problem has occured. I notice many people have had problems like this with similar models. I'd like to know whether I'd need to pay to have it fixed again, despite it being the same problem that was supposed to be fixed. Hello,  I have noticed that my right screw connecting the hinge of my screen and base of the laptop has come loose after a while now. I tried to tighten it but it won't. I read a few articles with people of the same laptop series and it made me think that whether this is a manufacturer's defect or not.  There is also a piece which, by my guess, has broken off and is now loose inside the body of the keyboard as I can hear it when I move my laptop around.  Is there a way to get this repaired at a repair centre? Or a better and more precise diagnostic, as I am just basing this on what I have read and my guess as an engineer. Thank you!

I've read in the forum that someone got their laptop repaired at NO COST?? Even after lapse of warranty? Wow, what did you do to convince HP to do this? I have sent several requests and complaints and a HP rep phoned to ask about it then told me to pay $300.00 for the repair. I do believe a substandard quality back cover which undoubtedly costs very cheaply to make is a good trade of for keeping customers. But it seems HP is more concerned about making money once and not considering about after sales and follow up sales. They certainly lost me and I was considering buying the Spectre but not anymore. BTW I checked an online supplier for the back cover and it sells for $35.00 from China but I prefer to do the repairs myself.

The left hinge of the laptop is causing the bottom case to pop off. Whenever I open the notebook, the black bottom portion of the laptop separates from the top grey portion, exposing the inside of the laptop. When I close the laptop, the bottom case snaps back into place.I have had this laptop for over three years, with no other issue. Is there anything HP can do to resolve this hardware problem? Thanks

My left display hinge is also acting up and the left corner seems to be coming apart from the force being applied by the hinge especially as the display is hinged down to its closed position.  I've been suspecting something was weird for some time now but recently I'm afraid it will break soon, what can be done?  My laptop is out of warranty (bought from Costco) but otherwise is in perfect condition and I use it daily.  It is crazy this is happening.

Hello I have a V series laptop, V5-571-53334G50Makk to be specific and since recently the left hinge was loose and whenever I open the laptop, it was wide open(kept on increasing as I tilt the screen) now the gap has widened. Both hinges on my HP Envy m6 have broken. The computer is about 5 months out of warranty. I am very disappointed in the quality of this product. The hinges should never break down in such a short time.   Reading through the many posts on this hinge problem I think HP should have a recall on all the defective hinges and make things right.

He arranged for someone from customer support to phone me about the broken hinges on my computer.  The very next day HP sent me a box to ship my computer to there service department. Two day later my computer was on it way back to me fully repaired free of charge. Now that's fantastic service and second to none. That's product support. Thanks HP.

I know it's a shot in the dark, but I'm hoping someone can offer me some help. I've had my HP Envy for about 2 years and I've always been very careful with it, but last year one the hinges started to pop out. I was still under warranty and was able to have it fixed for free and everything was great. Now, just over a year later, the same hinge has broken again. I don't have the money to fix it and it's at the point where I can't open the laptop because the hinge caused the bottom of the computer to separate. This seems to be a really common problem with the HP Envy and it seems like HP should have some way to fix this (for less than the $350 I was quoted at my local store). Anybody?

Sadly, I've also joined the ranks of the HP broken hinge crowd. I purchased a refurbished HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1014nr. At that time I had litttle hesitation with the purchase due to what I thought was a great reputation for HP laptops. This laptop was handled with care and with pride. It was a great little machine, puchased to support my school classes. Of course a while after the 90 day warranty was up the first hinge popped loose. Handling the laptop thereafter with kids gloves unfortunately didnt prevent the remaining hinge from seperating as well. Some internet research quickly revealed that this is a widespread HP design defect and is very common in HP laptops. Shame on me for doing my due diligence prior to my purchase. The laptop now functions solely as a desktop with the screen propped up against the wall. It is far too fragile to consider even closing the screen and using it in the intended manner. I do think the machine is a great little laptop aside from this major design issue and with school now back in session I'm open to suggestions. Any recommendations on a cheap and effective repair?

Hello. I have owned my HP ENVY m6 laptop for over 2 years now so obviously my warranty has expired. About 2 months ago or so, I noticed that the right hinge on my laptop was raised so I inspected it and then pushed it down. This has continued every time I close the laptop with me pushing down the hinge. The plastic covering for the monitor also bends every time I close the laptop. These issues seemed to be fairly minor at the time. Tonight, on 9/12/15, when i went to close the laptop, the hinge completely gave way, broke off, and collapsed. The left side seems to still be intact. I have noticed that on the inside of the bottom right corner of the monitor, a metal piece has been separated from the other side of the monitor. I suspect that this metal piece is what has more or less held the hinge in place for the 2+ months that it has been broken. In other words, when the metal piece gave way, so too did the already broken hinge. The HP ENVY m6 laptop still seems to be in working order other than the broken hinge. Though this means that I cannot bring it anywhere at present. The ability to transport my laptop is very important to me as I am currently in college and I take much of my notes on my laptop I was wondering if there is anyway to have technical support on my laptop? I have noticed that broken hinges are a very common issue with the HP ENVY m6 (possibly a manufacturing error) and would like to see it resolved as soon as possible. Thank you

Left hinge y the power button is broken and causing issues.  It actually sometimes prevents my laptop from starting.  I have to shut the lid.  press the bottom base cover and keyboard back together and then carefully open the lid and try and start it.  Lots of folks in this forum seem to be having the issue.  How can it be fixed?

My envy notebook hinge is broken becuase HP has poor design. I need to get this fixed but it seems I cant contact HP other than on this message board because it is out of warranty and I have to pay to call them! HP needs to do a better job standing behind their products, this is likely the last time I get an HP.

This laptop is well looked after, kept on a table and never dropped in any way. The hinge on the left hand side has broken for a second time in just over 1 year. this seems to be a design fault and very common on these forums.Is it possible for you to repair or replace this laptop as it does not seem fit for purpose?Many thanks

Hi, i am having a problem with my HP envy laptop. The hinge has forced the bottom cover to separate leaving a gap between the back cover and the rest of the chassis. Can you please help resolve? Hi, I'm having the broken hinge problem, the right hinge cracked out. The warranty is out... However I would like to have the plastic bezel part, if it's still possible, for the screen so I could replace it. The screen (LCD) is still intact but the bezel is falling apart... Thank You,Yaroslav

I have an HP Envy M6 notebook (purchased in January 2013). I have the exact same problem that dozens of other people have had: the right hinge on my notebook has broken somehow. The casing threatens to separate from the screen if I don't hold the two together when I close the laptop. I do not believe this to have occurred due to any fault of mine, as several others have had the same issue. I am quite sure my warranty has expired, but I don't care about that. I think HP should do something to fix my computer, or to give me a different one, as I would not have bought this computer had I known how poorly built it was. Thank you for your help. Sincerely,Alex Kaczmarek

Purchased 20 of these in 2014 for our library. Hinge is broken on one. I see that many owners have had this issue. Is HP offering any support for this problem?

Hi, the left hinge cracked out of nowhere, problem is I have no idea how to repair it without spending more money than my laptop is worth. I've also seen that this is a common problem among HP Envy m6 laptops. Has HP offered any kind of recall on this manufacturer defect? I bought my notebook at best buy 4 years ago so I am no longer under warranty. Please help me with this, this computer is my only one and I cannot afford for the problem to get worse.

 My HP Envy's hinge is detaching as the casing is cracking open. I have never dropped it or damaged it any manner. Everything else works perfectly. I have barely had my computer over a year now which is not a long time and this seems to be a very popular problem. I will have to pay to get this fixed due to a manufacturing problem and being a college student that is definitely not in my budget especially with the precaution I take with this laptop. I love this product and so far I have had a great HP experience. I would hope HP is going to back their product!

I'm having the problem with my left hinge.  The hinge started to crack out of nowhere and the lid screen did not close properly.  I've been trying to find a fix for this for months and the problem is I have no idea how to repair it without spending a LOT of money.  The monitor still works but in the beginning when the hinge started cracking I stopped closing the lid all together.  It seems as if hp hp should address this issue because it seems to be quite common as I came across this when I googled this problem. I am always very careful with my laptop as I rely on it for word processing.

I have had my Envy for about four years now - obviously the warranty is gone. I bought it from Best Buy. It has worked perfectly normal. I have never had an issue, the keys dont stick, it looks brand new. I take very good care of it and have been pleased with the product. Today I closed it after I was finished with it and the hinge completely broke loose and the bottom plate of the computer cracked. How could this happen with no damage and no issues? I have tried to contact HP but can not get through to anyone but a computer. Clearly this is an issue with this product and was wondering who I contact at HP for help? Thank you!
