Mini 110-3015dx Wireless drivers for XP Pro not working

Q: Mini 110-3015dx Wireless drivers for XP Pro not working

I bought an HP Mini 110-3015dx with Windows 7 starter pre-installed. I have since swapped out the HD and loaded XP Pro onto the mini (by slipstreaming the SATA drivers -- what a pain). Anyway -- I started looking for the drivers for the hardware, and the driver .exe that HP lists for the machine for the WLAN won't work. I run the executable, restart, and nothing -- no new network adapter shows up. I've tried mapping the driver directly to the extracted folder that's created in c:\SWSETUP, but there are no configuration files (only cabs and executables), so I cannot manually add the driver. Does anyone know the chipset and have a link to the drivers so I can manually map them to the unrecognized devices? Or is there some other fix? As much as I like Windows 7, I need XP on this machine. thanks,WLH

A: Mini 110-3015dx Wireless drivers for XP Pro not working

it does this same thing when you upgard to the full windows 7 - even though that is what HP recommends you do. Then HP will tell you to spend $60 for them to fix the problem - becasue this computer is not compatable with anything other than the windows 7 starter - its just a way for HP to make more money once you buy the product.

Did you happen to try the website for the HP Mini? I'm sure you could find a driver somewhere on the site.

Hello!

After reading some similar solutions I feel that this forum is one of the few with members that actually know what they're talking about, so I'm really hopeful that you can help me!!

Recently my dell inspiron 1501 had an onslaught of viruses. A friend was able to retrieve my data and reinstalled windows. However, upon return of the computer a few things aren't working quite right. My main concern is my wireless internet. The 1395 mini card is not detected in device manager and although I installed the driver even the dell wireless utitlity won't work either. There are a few things listed in Other devices with yellow question marks/exclamation points: Base system device, network controller, SM bus controller, and video controller. All of these under properties say the drivers are not installed, but when I try to install drivers from device manager it can't find any. Please help!!!!

Thank you

Hi,

I'm trying to connect a Sony VAIO PCG-GRT100 laptop computer to my network with a mini-PCI Intel 2100 3A 'b' card.

I used to have a Linksys PCMCIA wireless card - and it worked perfectly, but I didn't like having a big thing sticking out of the side. So - I got a mini-PCI card out of a Dell laptop (that I upgraded from just 'b' to a 2200 'b' and 'g' card), and thought I would put it into the Sony.

I installed the drivers, slotted in the card, connected the AUX and MAIN antennae, booted up - the computer recognised the card just fine - shows up in the control panel, and SYSTEM folder, etc.

BUT - when I search for networks I get nothing - "No wireless networks found". The laptop is sitting 4 feet from the router (a Netgear WGR614 by the way), and my other laptop 'see' about 8 network access points normally (I'm in a block of apartments / flats).

So - it appears the 'hardware switch' is turned off on the adaptor. Windows Control Panel / HW can't turn it on - but since this isn't a Centrino laptop - there's no button or switch to turn it on.

WHat can I do - the mini-PCI card is covered in plastic - is there a manual switch I can throw if I strip it off?

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Thanks,
Nikos

Hello

I have a slight problem at the moment, My brothers company have just purchased a new laptop and didnt realise that they were going to have problems running it with some of their job software as it was supplied with Windows 8 on.

They have purchased Windows 7 (so all the systems are the same) but since installing 7 the wireless card no longer works or is recognised.

I have had a look, It appears there are 3 variants of the Network adapter.
Acer Nplify 802.11 b/g/n
- Intel
- Broadcom
- Atheros

Acers website list the laptop as supporting Windows 7 and Windows 8 and have downloadable drivers on the site for 7 & 8 along with 32 and 64 bit versions.

Not being able to work out what card was installed (the Hardware vendor detection tool didnt pick any up) Iproceeded to test the drivers one at a time but cant get the laptop to recognise the card under Windows 7.

After doing a bit of reading I noticed someone had a similar issue that was rectified by installing the Woindows 8 Drivers,

I have tried this, 2 of them would install but one said it wasnt supported under Windows 7 but still no network card detected.

When it was purchased the laptop was able to access the internet using the Wireless card running pre installed Windows 8.

Could anyone help shed some light on a possible fix?

Thanks for reading this (and thanks in advance for any responses)

So last week the wireless adapter stopped working on my wife's 15-g013dx.  The light on the f12 button is red and will not go blue.  I updated Windows 8  last week and it started working again.  I have upgraded to Windows 10, and it still worked for a few days, but it stopped again.  I did a hardware test and it passed all tests.  Also, in Device manager there is no entry for the wireless adapter, I see an Unknown Device now under Other Devices. I wanted to update/reinstall the driver but when i went to the product page on hp.com, and under Software and Drivers it says "We were unable to find any drivers for your product. Drivers may be in development so please check back at a later date or visit the product homepage."   This computer is over a year old, how can the drivers still be in dev? So my question is, how do I re-enable the Wireless Network Card? Bob

A:15-g013dx wireless card not working - no drivers on hp.com

Hi, Bob: It looks like all of the drivers, specs and manuals are missing from the support pages again. This happened earlier in the week too. Another forum member has reported the issue to the forum administrators, who will in turn contact HP, but since I am not employed by, nor do I represent HP, I have no idea how long it will take them to restore the missing data to the support pages. It being the weekend isn't going to help much either. I think something else is wrong though, because if the wireless card was missing a driver, there would be a Network Controller entry along where you see the the Unknown Device listed. The parts list for your notebook indicates that it comes with an Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi adapter. http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=J5T33UA Here is the W10 driver for that card, but I as I wrote, I think you have a bigger problem than that, one that unfortunately, I would not be able to help you with. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71858.exe If you post the hardware ID for the unknown device, I will see if I can find the driver for that too. To find the hardware ID, click on the unknown device in the device manager. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the unknown device window. Now you will see a Property drop down list, and it will be set to device description. Drop down on that list and select the 3rd item (Hardware ID's). Post the... Hello. Recently my IBM ThinkPad T41, running Windows XP, crashed. I installed a clean copy of Windows Vista today, and am in need of new drivers. Everything seems to be intact, except for the drivers concerning Wireless Internet, which is making my laptop unable to detect wifi connections. I've tried various drivers including 7vwv23ww.exe, 6mwv21ww.exe, 7kvu22ww.exe, and PROWin32.exe. But to no avail. The first 2 drivers come from DriversCollection.com, the third from DriversDown.com, and the last from Inte's website. If anyone has encountered, or knows how to fix this problem. Please help. Dear All,

I was wondering if anyone can help before I throw my laptop out the window. I am not tech minded so please forgive if I don't provide full information on my problem.

Laptop - Asus X53U
Wireless Adaptor - Atheros AR9285.
Spare USB Wireless - Edimax

A couple of weeks ago, my wireless connection was getting slower and slower. As one day it decided to get extremely slow, I decided to uninstall the wireless card via device manager and reinstall it. Once this had been completed, the wireless just stopped working. The signal bar came up with zero and had a big red X in it. It works fine with ethernet cable but just won't seem to work as a wifi connector.

I have reinstalled all drivers and everything is enabled. When troubleshooting, it comes up with a possible problem with driver. Once this has been resolved it is then a problem with the network.

The router is fine as I am able to connect on every other device in the house.

I even purchased a USB wifi adaptor in the event of the Wireless card packing in but this is still creating the same problem. I used system restore to roll back the laptop to a time when the wireless worked and it didn't seem to help at all.

If anyone can help, please provide me with step by step instructions.

Many thanks.

Has anyone had experience finding a working driver for a Vostro 3560 laptop?
I've spent close to 8 hours trying to find one, including wiping the laptop and installing drivers in proper order, using the update client through dell, etc.
Every single one gives an error that the installation has failed or the driver is incompatible. This makes no sense because I'm using the drivers dell has recommended both through their update manager and via service tag search.

Hi
I'm running Windows 7 64bit on a new Asus N61v laptop with Atheros networking card. Everything was working fine but lately I've had some problems with the wireless network dropping out. Today my wireless stopped working entirely. I logged on to the quick browser profile I had and the wireless worked fine, but whenever I switched back to my main administrator account the wireless adapter wouldn't enable and kept saying no wireless networks available. The switch on the side did nothing at all, nor did enabling it via networking or the keyboard hotkey. After a while bluetooth stopped working too. I could connect to my router via ethernet cable, and went into device manager to update my drivers. I selected my network card and checked for driver updates via windows. It didn't work. So someone suggested I try system restore. I restored my laptop to June 2nd. It didn't fix the wireless adapter. I went back to device manager to reinstall drivers but I accidently hit "driver rollback", that's when my computer restarted and the BSOD appeared. Now I can only avoid the BSOD by restarting in safe mode WITHOUT networking.

Hello computer comrades!

Once again I have ran into a problem that makes me want to bang my head against the wall over and over. My friend just bought an HP Mini off of someone he knew, and all of the network drivers are missing. My initial solution was to go to www.hp.com, input the model # and/or serial # and download the drivers straight from there. No problem right? Well, I cannot find the model # or serial # of this tiny notebook anywhere! I called HP and they told me that there should be a sticker on the back with both listed there, however, they are not.

I went to www.hp.com to just see if I can guess which model this is, but there are hundreds!

Is there any way I can find out the model # of this HP Mini without this sticker that should be on the bottom?

Thanks,

Charlie

Hi Guys,

I've been trying to get this device to work for hours, and no matter what I do, I keep getting a messege saying the device driver software was not succesfully installed.

Under Bluetooh Peripheral Device, it says no drivers found.

Has anyone successfully installed the Belkin's Mini-BT dongle, and if so, can someone give me a step by step, how-to on how to do so?

On my iPhone, under Bluetooth, it says that I'm connected to the PC, but on the PC, it says that the BT device needs trouble shooting, and it won't allow me to transfer any files to the iPhone.

Really, the primary reason I got the BT dongle was so that I could use the iPhone's 3G service as an internet connection when I'm away from home.

I'd appreciate any help.

Have you been using the system-included drivers, or drivers from an installation disc/download? I'm thinking they're not compatible. Are you on 7 64-bit or 32-bit?

EDIT: I see they work on Vista 32-bit and 64-bit, which means they'll work with both versions of 7. Vista drivers should work with 7.

In the hardware devices list i can see that the network controller, the video controller and the ethernet controller are missing, i tried to install the drivers given at the official website but none of them worked. Please help, i can't connect the computer to the internet! I think that wifi card or internet card, whatever name has, has no drivers installed or they just "dissapeared".

HI.........
I NEED SOME MORE INFORMATION BOUT Mini PCI Wireless....

"""""""""""""""""""Can I use the DLink 520+ (802.11b) PCI card in my i8200?

Yes! DLink makes an inexpensive Wi-Fi wireless networking card for desktop machines (about $50). It is the DLink 520+. Several Inspiron owners reports that it contains a Mini-PCI card inside. You can get at it by removing two screws and the cover.
"""""""""""""""""""""Linksys makes an 802.11g (which is 802.11b compatible) wireless networking card for desktop machines. It is the Linksys WMP54G PCI card. One Inspiron owner reports that it contains a Mini-PCI card inside. You can get at it by removing the metal casing. But you need to use a soldering iron to get the antenna connected.----Is it tru ???
if yes , maybe exist something more fester..???

I have DELL "INSPIRON 8200."
thanks.

A:.....mini PCI wireless....

I have the Dlink 520+ and it's true. Generally you can pick these cards up for around $10-$15 AR. They also support 4X mode for 54mb/s transfer rates. There are 108mb/s cards, but the 54mb/s is about as fast as you'd need. It'll stream video and audio fine, and it's faster than the majority of broadband connections for internet sharing.

It does work at 2.4ghz, so if you have a lot of devices in your home (or a microwave oven between PC's), you may wish to look for a 802.11a card instead of a 802.11b/g card..

Due to hideous misfortune I had to do a clean install of my personal copy of Windows Vista and remove the stock Windows XP from my netbook.

Many drivers were added my Microsoft during Vista installation but I have no adapter drivers for either wireless or ethernet controllers. Under device manager I have no category for Network Adapters but instead those two controllers are listed under "Other Devices".

Under HP downloads I found the driver for Qualcomm Mobile Broadband Drivers - Gobi1000 when I went through the process of stating my product ID and OS (Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit). I downloaded it onto my pc, saved it to the flash drive I had to use earlier as a bootable drive to install Vista (knew the lack of native cd/dvd drive would eventually haunt me) and then moved the flash drive to the netbook to run install.

After running the setup a blank 'ms-dos' window popped up, stayed blank and then disappeared. There was no confirmation of success of failure in regards to installation of the driver. But under Device Manager they are still listed under other devices and I am unable to do anything with them.

I downloaded, transported and ran the setups for HP help and support as well as the Wireless Assistant. Both run fine on the Mini. The wireless assistant simply states that Windows has no controllers assigned to find connections to maintain.

I was curious as to whether or not there was something I was missing, the driver was the inco... Read more

My partner and I have a small web-based business. All our records, etc are contained in Excel and Word files. We each have a laptop, and each of us has the data files on our laptop. Whenever one of us changes a file (and saves it to his hard drive), we then have to copy the changed file to the other's computer, so that he'll have the updated file. We also have a third laptop that we use as a 'spare'.

Obviously, there's an easier way, like what's done in most offices using a server and network. We were thinking that it should be relatively simple to set up the spare computer as a 'server', where all the files would be stored. Then each user would call up the file, work with it, and save the updated file back to the 'server', and to his own HDD. And we'd like to do this wireless (all the computers already have wireless cards). But neither of us is that tech-savvy to design such a network

Can someone please tell me what additional hardware and/or software we need, and what will be involved in the installation of this mini-network.

Thanks in advance to all who may respond.

Was a Wireless N Mini-PCI card ever made to replace the Intel 2200BG? If so would it needs a hacked BIOS like the Middleton T-61 no-whitelist one?2. Was a DVD-burner ever made for these, like the Multi-III for the T-61? Thanks!

I did a windows 7 clean install on my HP Mini 210 4051 nr as part of creating a dual boot with Ubuntu. In Linux the internet works fine, but in Windows 7 it does not. In the device manager I see yellow flags over the ethernet and network controllers. Code 28 (My model does have an ethernet port).

Because the machine cannot connect, I downloaded all the related drivers (everything from the network tab) from the HP website for my model with another computer and then put them all in a folder on the Mini's desktop via USB. When I try to install the drivers through the device manager, and direct it to that folder, it says it finds nothing usable.

Here are the IDs

Ethernet Controller
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_338D103C&REV_05

Network Controller
PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_5390&SUBSYS_163610C&REV_00

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

I recently purchased a Compaq Presario desktop with no integrated wifi. So I picked up a usb adapter. The Retail Plus website says the adapter is compatible with Windows 7. However, after I run the setup and plug in the adapter, the drivers do not install. My apartment is wireless only, so I can't connect my desktop to the internet to download drivers. I do have a laptop with wifi, so I tried installing the usb adapter on it. Everything went smoothly and the usb works on the laptop. So I tried putting the drivers on a disc and putting them on the desktop, no luck. I downloaded a package from the Retail Plus website and I still cannot get the drivers to work.

Unfortunately, I am not very computer savvy. Any suggestions to make this work?

A:Replace Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card

Hi, welcome to TechSpot

Since nobody has answered this thread, i will give a generic how-to-guide...
i have no experience with a fujitsu, but if it's like most laptops, there will be an access panel on the bottom of the case. it's usually a just 1 screw then it pulls up and out which will give you access to your mini PCI card.

mini-PCI cards lock in similar to laptop RAM sticks, there will be 2 locking tabs toward the top of the card, release them both at the same time and the card should "pop" up, then simply pull it out. it will be the opposite procedure to instal the new one

hope this helps... good luck

I have one of those micro/mini USB wireless adapters that I'm trying to get working on a reconstituted Win7 HP box. I have a fresh install of Win 7 but have no idea where the driver for the adapter is, so the machine does not see it. I'm not even sure it needs a driver.

Here's the weird thing; I recently plugged the USB wifi thingie into my other box (Win 7 Pro/64) in order to get the PC talking to my smart TV across the room so I could watch Netflix and it came right up fine with no tweaking. I didn't do a thing except reboot. If it needs a driver, it somehow just found it, or does not seem to want one.

On this 2nd box with Pro/64 I can also easily get to the display shown in attachment that shows wireless bars, but on the 1st PC with Win7 Home Prem, going to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing center produces no such display. All it shows is the broadband connection to the cat 5 cable running to my router. It's like the Home Prem system does not support wireless. I did reinstall all drivers from the GByte disc that came with the mobo.

Any ideas?

To get it to reconnect i have to restart but this dose not always work, disable the raido in settings, or unistall driver, or reinstall windows.

so this is what ive tried already

updated the drivers using the MIS Live update tool
Unchecked the box that says "allow computer to turn off device"
Deleted drivers and reinstalled
Deleted windows 7 and reinstalled fresh copy (works for a few days then starts to drop again)
Reinstalled windows 7 and only used the windows 7 driver Not updated it
bought aa new mini card but could not get motherboard to install drivers, i bough it 2nd hand off ebay and it came out of a dell mini notebook
put old card back in and is now working after fresh install for how long i dont know

cant send the laptop back as i bought it off Ebay and it only came with three months warrenty which is now up!

From that and the other stuff you've tried and described I think that the card or motherboard is intermittently defective. If it's the motherboard there's nothing you can do. If it's the card you could replace it with the exact same model or one that you know is supposed to work in that model laptop.

My advice is to keep the USB adapter in your pocket or laptop case and use it when needed.

Hi guys thanks for looking.

I recently bought a dell true mobile 1150 wireless series mini pci card for my laptop along with a pair of antennae to install in my inspiron. It didn't come with any drivers but I managed to download the latest driver and client manager from the dell website. The installation seemed to be fine but I can't seem to detect any wireless networks on it. I shut down the computer last night and when I woke up this morning it was working fine but after I rebooted again It wasn't able to my wireless connection.

I have verified that the radio is turned on and power management seems fine what else could be the cause?

Greetings

I'm checking a mini laptop for a friend and found out that the wireless does not work on it. First I tried checking the button to activate it and it didn't work, even if the indicador says it's off/on it doesn't have an effect on the network adapter. The PC is running Windows 7 32-bit.

I went to HPs driver page and downloaded the driver for the card
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=4210409&lang=en&cc=sg&taskId=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=4166158

I downloaded the Ralink 2011 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter driver and tried reinstalling it. Funny thing is that the installation went smoothly but in the driver details the name of the driver shows the default Windows one, 3.0.0.14 I beleive. Tried again to install the driver since I thought it was a bad download or something but the same results.

I've tried with the Atheros driver but the installer said that since the card is not present no drivers would be installed, so I assume that the model is the Ralink.

So far the network card appears disabled on the network adapter window, and if I try to enable it, it remains disabled.

Anyone knows any other options to get it working or perhaps what should I be looking for?

Thanks for your time.

Hello, I am looking to upgrade my laptop's wireless to wireless AC.  I am looking for a Mini PCI Express wireless AC card that is compatible with my system.  I heard that this laptop is only compatible with certain wireless cards and it will not work with wireless cards from intel.  Is that true??  Thanks.

A:Wireless Mini PCI Express Support for Elitebook 725 G2

I found a random forum post on http://forum.notebookreview.com/ of an owner of J5N82UT (one of the 725 G2 SKUs) who claims Intel AC7260 worked on his/her machine. I see 725 G2 are available from HP with one of the three WiFi options,Broadcom 802.11 a/b/g/n AC (2x2) and Bluetooth® 4.0Broadcom 802.11a/b/g/n (2x2) and Bluetooth® 4.0Atheros 802.11b/g/n (1x1) No Intel options there, but maybe it'll just work. Some(?) models of 725 G3 comes with Intel AC7265 from factory, like mine, but G3 is different from G2.Maybe HP BIOS already whitelists Intel adapters, even if some models aren't offered with them. I doubt HP would say anything one way or another.  You'll just have to try it. Update: I'd ignore the "expert" opinion below if you really want the Intel one.  Even with a little Googling, I see people complaining about Broadcom ones (Dell XPS, for example) and those people being happy with Intel ones after replacing it on their own. Maybe this is the same person who posted on notebookreview.com, but at least that person claims it works with 7260 AC according to this review: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834259147

I'm having the same problem as another user Baduga whose thread is copied below. I did download the driver version 5.60.48.31 for the Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN device which was released February 03, 2010. However, when I try to connect to a secured wireless network it seems to see the router, but just spins and spins with the message "acquiring network address" and it never actually connects.

Baduga, below, also had this problem once the drivers were updated. He reported the fix was by following the instructions on HP customer service page that flavallee linked earlier. It turns out my password was missing from the association page of the wireless network connection.

Dell Netbook / XP sp3. Bought from a colleague - wireless connection worked both at his home and WIFI at a coffeee shop [saw it]. Have tried it in two homes - one with Roadrunner cable, the other with AT&T DSL. In both cases, the ethernet cable [through different routers] works and wireless works on my Toshiba notebook.

I have done ipconfig release/renew, there are no flags in Device Manager, the wireless icon says there is a good connection, it's set to automatically detect settings. ping shows the ip address. However, the diagnostic for XP reports the following: "Could not get proxy settings via the Automatic Proxy Configuration mechanism. This computer has the following default gateway entry[ies]: 0.0.0.0
There is no default gateway entry"
Please advise what I should try next. Thanks, Cory

I would like to upgrade the wireless card (Broadcom 802.11 g) to an N card, dual band if possible. My question is; what is the right card and part number? I believe the HP Mini 5103 card will work in the 2102, but I am not certain of this capability. Does anyone know the best wireless adapter card to swap out? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi, Have you heard WiFi whitelist in BIOS ? I don't know the model/product of your HP Mini 2102 but I believe this series came out around 2010. The chance to upgrade wifi card for machines which were built before mid 2014 is from very, very, very slim to none. Regards.

Hi! My AR5BXB63 wireless card in My MSI VR630 just failed. I'm thinking of purchasing a different mode, one which supports wireless n mode, like this.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/802-11n-Int...908?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a0b96f4ec
My question is, that will this work in my laptop? I think it will, becasuse as far as I know, PCIE is a universal interface and it should support anything I plug into it whith the same interface. Though it is mentioned on the ebay page that it will only work with certain chipsets. Who is right then? Also, there is a wifi enable/disable button on my notebook, will that work? Or is that button the reason why this wireless card won't work with any chipset?
Thanks in advance.

A:Mini PCIE wireless card compatibility

PCI-e IS universal, it will work with every MB, but your OS has to have drivers for it. Either built in, on the manufacturers website, or on windows update (I have Win 8 and it had no drivers for mine, so I had to use my power line adapter to supply internet to my computer for windows update to get the driver). So what I am saying is as long as you have a wired internet connection to use as an alternative then you should be fine.

Hi, I am having a problem with my dell wireless lan minicard which is intergrated into my dell inspiron laptop.

I have been searching the internet and i have found some information on increasing the power output of the card. I am wanting to increase the power output of the card, not the router for various issues.

I found some information regarding hacking into the HAL, some part of the firmware in network cards that can contain the power output information.
If someone can provide me with a guide on doing that it will be appreciated.

Also, if anyone knows any third party software, or firmware that can increase the power output of my dell wireless mini card it will be appreciated.

Please don't reply with information regarding the router as i have been searching the internet all day to increase the power output of my wireless card and found most of the information regarding the router which i dont want.

Thanks.

Hello
I just bought a Compaq Mini that uses Windows 7. I'm attempting to connect to my router using wireless but I get an error saying "Possible network security key mismatch". I am using Verizon FiOS. I am certain I typed in the correct WEP key, because it's printed right on the router. My desktop also runs Windows 7, but uses a Netgear wireless USB adapter and works fine. I was also able to successfully connect to an unsecure wireless network and through ethernet with the netbook. After googling, I found someone suggesting disabling Internet Protocol Version 6, but the problem still persists, so I enabled it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, I'm having an issue with my ever so brilliant IBM Thinkpad T42p, only it's not so brilliant at the moment as it has a wireless issue. WPA2-PSK is the standard for wireless security as I believe, my T42p was made in early 2005 and the adapter hasn't really been properly updated to support this security type. I have tried custom drivers to the latest drivers.

The latest drivers crash the OS for several minutes and fail to install, even when digitally signed and the custom drivers work a treat on WEP and other network security types not the modern standard though. Changing my wireless security type isn't an option, any ideas? Windows 7 works superb with the drivers but I prefer XP on this laptop as it can only handle so much and its aging. So I would need XP drivers on an quite frankly an ancient mini pci IBM Wireless card that supports modern WPA2-PSK.

If it's too much trouble I am just going to rip one out of my HP laptop but I prefer not to.

Again, any suggestions?

Thanks

A:IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II WPA2-PSK issue.

No one?

Anyway, it worked on some routers and failed upon others so I decided to bite the bullet and swap the cards from my other laptop.

It works great now, its an Intel something... and connects properly due to better and updated drivers. Interestingly the Thinkpad has all its original parts and the bios reported the CPU, Intel Pentium M and now I have replaced the card it's made it a Centrino (Intel branded chipset groups, Wifi, cpu and whatnot).

For anyone who owns a thinkpad and wish to check the parts list visit ThinkWiki. It maybe for Linux but hardware wise it applies to any OS and does give info on Windows anyway

I have a Toshiba TE2100 laptop with wirless card built-in. The laptop also have at the left side a switch that allows to turn ON or OFF the wireless function. The computer also have a front red light that should flash when the wireless is activated. My computer is attached to a wireless network based on a wireless router LINKSYS 802.11g WUSB54G. The computer runs under Windos XP professional SP3
The problem is as follow:
When I start using Internet I would expect the wireless adapater (Mini PCI card built in ) worked just identifying my network and I would be able to search through internet, but unfortunately nothing happen: the front red light is not flashing when the wireless switch in the left is turned ON
Woking around with possible solutions:
I went to device manager and the device is hidden, so I have to use the view option to reach it, then I tried to update the driver, and the driver wizard just says that the device is working properly. Once I update the driver, it says windows did not find a better driver that the one installed.
Questions:
Should I do something else? Do I missing something in order to activate the wireles card?.

Thank you in advance. Any help it will be graetly appreciated

Hi, Just installed a PCI (e x1) Wireless card and Windows Vista (64bit, all latest updates) will not detect it. I have tried it in 2 PCIe x1 slots (my mobo has 2 of these) and I get the same problem in both. I have the latest drivers for the device.

Interestingly, when the power is off and I plug the card in a light shows on the card. As soon as I turn my PC on, the light goes out and doesn't come back.

The wireless card is an ABIT WLP-01 card.

Is this a problem with the mobo/bios or with vista? I'm out of ideas so I'm hoping someone out there can shed some light.

Thanks for reading.

Hello I just got a brand new X1 Carbon. I would like to use it with a large (27 in) Dell screen. This screen has a dedicated DP, and I connected it to the mini DP of the X1. I could not get it to work: the X1 does not identify the screen, and the screen displays a message "no display port cable". I used another cable, still does not work. I know that the screen DP is OK, since I am using it with my older laptop (Lenovo X220), and I get a perfect high-resolution display. Also, I know that the mini DP on the X1 is not completely "dead", since when I connect it to the screen HDMI entry with a dedicated mini DP to HDMI connector, it works OK. I followed the instructions in the user manual re updating the monitor driver, etc. The problem still exists. I will appreciate any help with this problem, Thanks Ben

My HP Compaq Mini 730EO came shipped with Windows Home.
So I installed Windows 7 RC, and almost everything works except for the webcam, and I can't seem to find any drivers.

There aren't any drivers on HP's website, I can't find any lying around the net because I don't know what to search for. "Compaq Mini webcam driver"? That really give me anything usefull.

My webcam show up in device manager as "Webcam-101", but when I try to update the driver software from there, it sais: "The install class is not present or is invalid"... Seems like it wants me to connect the webcam first like every other webcam softare I've tried. hmmm.. Kinda hard when it's manufactured into the top of my screen.

I might be able to pull some well hidden driver out of the "hidden" partition.. But how do I do that?

So.. Any suggestions to how I can get the little green diode on the right side of my webcam to light up?

After days of searching, I kinda gave up and came here instead. My external hard drive, about 1 year old, stopped working again... When it is plugged into the computer, explorer.exe will hang until I unplugged it. I need help in taking my files out from my external hard drive.

A:Samsung S1 Mini 200GB not working

Inside the casing of the external is a standard 1.8" hard drive. It has standard SATA Power and SATA Data ports.

The casing has an interface adapter built in. One side plugs into the standard SATA ports, the other side is the USB port you use.s
If this adapter is not making good contact with the standard SATA ports you can get these issues. Sometimes you can slightly push and twist the adapter while connected and get it to make good contact temporarily.

You should also try another USB cable to check that it is not something simple like that. Also try other USB ports from your PC.

If you have to give up on the external drive (and it's not still under warranty) you can remove the actual hard drive from the casing and hook it up to the SATA connectors inside a PC just like any other internal hard disk drive.
Doing this may allow you to access all your files directly, or if necessary use data recovery software.
If the drive does not work connected directly it may be damaged or defective.

Let us know.

EDIT: 1.8" drives actually use a Micro-SATA connector, not a standard connector. To hook the drive up to a PC you may need to use a Micro SATA to SATA adapter like this one:

Hi, i've recently started to use my old hp mini for the first time in about 4 years. I have switched the 1GB of ram to 2GB and upgraded the operating system to the newest version of windows 10 (32-bit) to date. Everything is working slow, but ok. My problem is that the speakers are not putting out sound and if I plug headphones in the jack they too do not work. If I look in "playback devices" and play audio it says that sound is playing but no sound is coming out of the speakers. Also, if I plug headphones in they don't even show up in "playback devices". I've done the automatic driver update check and they all say up to date. Any help would be appreciated,       Thanks.

Hi, new to the site today. Bit frustrated, my sister got a new laptop, the one Im using to post this, and connected straight away to my home wireless, and can also view surrounding connections, (neighbours) etc.

I cant. Its a problem with my mini-card it says "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device." However, I clicked to get updated drivers and it said I already had the advanced one?

I called technical support for Dell and because my warranty has expired they want £29 to pay for this solution.

If anyone can help I would very much appreciate it.

Well recently i been having a massive downturn in wireless speed, at the regular my speed would be 54mbps but now it would fluctuate down to 1.0mbps which i must say is extremely frustrating for skype calls and gaming. I tried the dell website to see if i could update my card and through windows update however dell doesn't support my laptop anymore. I don't get whats wrong i tried dns changes, messing with the adapter settings but nothing would work. I tried a different wireless adapter and it worked fine. So could it be that the adapter is failing or do i need a new driver for that particular hardware.

Hi guys,
I'm going bananas! Here's the scoop. I have a desktop & Dell 1520 laptop running thru a Netgear 2000 router/modem. The problem is with the laptop. I've set up the router wireless with wpa-psk security with the ethernet cable & everything works fine when I disconnect the cable. When I shut down for a night, laptop & router both off, then turn everything on the next day it connects wirelessly & all is fine. Here's the problem. If I leave everything on & let the laptop go into standby & then hit the switch to bring it out of standby, sometimes it connects OK & other time NO!!! When it disconnects & I attempt to re-connect the process with the card utility it assumes it is set for WEP, WHICH IT IS NOT!! & is asking for the appropriate password of either exactly 8 or 13 letters. Incidently the passphrase has 12 letters in it, but it's set for wpa-psk not wep! I've rechecked the router settings & thats what they are so it must be with the adapter.
I figure it's got to be a setting somewhere on the adapter but I haven't a clue.Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help will be appreciated.
Ben

A:Dell wireless 1505 adapter mini-card

The problem is that network connections don't always work after Standby/Sleep/Hibernate. Make sure you have the latest correct driver for the adapter. There's not much else you can do except try another adapter.

When I have that issue my workaround is to switch the wireless off (if integrated) or disconnect before Standby or Hibernation.
