This modem is the HIRO Model H50113, which worked well in Windows Vista and Windows7, but as soon as I upgraded to Windows 10, the new operating system deleted the driver that makes my voice capabilities work on the modem, so it FAILS in voice functions. It is not possible to add that driver back, since the OS kills it like a virus. I noticed the driver I'd used is no longer in the drivers list, and I've heard from HIRO that this is happening MORE and MORE, for those whose Windows 10 version is 1511 IOS Build 1058635. Until Microsoft fixes this, my ability to send and receive voicemail with this modem is DEAD. Microsoft should finalize and update another Windows 10 build, to correct this destructive effect.

A:Upgraded to W10 & VOICE part of my voice/fax modem FAILS. Anyone else?

I wouldn't expect Microsoft to update Windows 10 to resolve an error with third-party hardware. Usually, the hardware vendor would update their drivers to be compatible with Windows.

What drivers were you using? I see that Hiro has Windows 10 drivers for the H50113, but they pre-date the November (1511) update.

Bottom line problems:

Direct Play Voice Setup will not work so I can't use Game Voice...0x80004005 error
Because I was over diligent in registry editing, I am now having IE6.0 crashes because of "nmtracer.dll"
I need to reinstall Dreamweaver MX, Extension Manager, and PCAnywhere because of my work.

On January 25, 2004, I posted to the Microsoft Hardware DirectX General Discussion message board:

"I use Microsoft SideWinder Game Voice 1.5 to chat with fellow gamesters.

The last time I successfully used it to join a chat was January 3, 2004. I had installed and used PCAnywhere on January 2 with no problems, but did end up uninstalling it on January 24. On January 4, I installed Dreamweaver MX and Extension Manager. On January 17, I could not join a chat on Game Voice, nor would the program shut down automatically, I had to force it to close via Task Manager. The next time I tried to launch it, I received an error message that said "Game Voice encountered an error with the speech recognition engine. Please correct the command. If this doesn't work, try reinstalling Game Voice." There is no place to "correct the command" so I uninstalled and reinstalled Game Voice multiple times.

I tried to do a System Restore to January 1, 2, 3, or 4 but it would not work. I uninstalled Dreamweaver MX and Extension Manager. On January 24, I upgraded to DirectX 9.0b. I set a system restore before I upgraded but my system won't go back. I rein... Read more

Basically, whenever someone sends me a voice clip, I can hear the sound perfectly. No added noises, only what the person inputs themselves.

However, when speaking directly with someone (voice chat, video chat), the sound, their voices, everything I hear from them is very static-y and buzzy.
What makes me even more frustrated is that this problem isn't present in a Skype chat... Skype chats work perfectly, and they're just the same as MSN voice chats...

Please help me out, I would be really greatful.

I've hit a dead end on this program. IF you don't know voice changer (just like the name) can change your voice live as it happens. A friend of mine has the same program and when he changes his voice, and talks over the mic, I hear it just fine. No static or anything. Just like it's suppose to.

However when I do it..no. To me, I sound like I'm suppose to. I've tested it by recording myself, playback, ect ect. It seems like its perfect until it leaves my computer. I talk and the playback is perfect, what he hears is static, annoying, not even a language. Very hard for him to understand me. Doesn't matter what program we use or what mic I use. It just doesn't reach him like I hear it.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. -Thanks.

I posted a question several weeks ago - unfortunately though I cannot seem to find it. I asked if anyone knew how to enable PC voice to PC voice conversations through Messenger from a PC behind a home network firewall.

Well, after several weeks of e-mails, questions and answers to and from many people, I have at last found a solution that works and thought I should post to the group.

Firstly, here's a reminder as to what the problem was....

I have 2 XP Home Ed PC's networked and connected via a cable modem to the www through the one machine acting as the internet gateway. I have XP firewall enabled. I can simultaneously send and receive e-mail from both machines, browse the www from both machines, and use Messenger from both machines. I can use Messenger 'Talk' from one networked machine to the other (invited or accepted), I can use Messenger 'Talk' from the internet gateway machine to any of my contacts who has Messenger and a microphone. What I have been unable to do is to instigate or accept a Messenger 'Talk' conversation from the PC on my home network that is no the internet gateway.

Here's the simple solution for those who may be experiencing the same problem. Make sure that you have the SSDP Discovery Service and Universal Plug and Play Host services in XP enabled. To do so, go to the Start button, then click Control Panel, go to Administrative Tools (you may need to 'Switch to Classic Mode' on the left side pa... Read more

I recently started having issues with my data/fax/voice modem installed in my XPS-600 after an XP SP3 re-install.

The card is recognized in XP and it's listed in Device Manager (Intel(R) 537EP V9x DF PCI Modem) along with its audio driver (Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device) with no apparent problems indicated. If I open the properties for the Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device it says "This device is working properly." From there I go to the Properties Tab > Audio Devices > Modem Wave Driver > Properties and it says "Driver is enabled and functioning properly".

I've Googled for days to resolve this, with no luck. I can fax with the modem, dial calls and it also interprets caller ID correctly in the app I use (Classic PhoneTools), it's just that the audio features don't work anymore (needed for recording and playing back voicemail messages).

I've downloaded a newer driver and still no luck.

It would be fantastic if someone knows the answer to this one. I'm usually pretty good at sorting this kind of stuff out, but this one has me stumped. Every feature of this modem works but the audio...

Hey, I decided to unravel what I was thinking about software and hardware.

First of all, yes, it's obvious to me and I know how software and hardware work initially being a beginner developer, but I am still a bit confused.

I've heard some say that hardware drivers contain "low-level" function calls. This would mean that, no, the "hardware" doesn't contain function calls, the software written to control the hardware has these function calls within the drivers.

But from what I can gather, hardware having its own native ability to operate on specific instructions regarding written high or lower level code to target machine code and furthermore tasks is false, as all hardware operations are controlled in a, let's say basic sense, by the software and the kernel with the operating system entirely(in the sense that the hardware is controlled by an OS).

So would this mean that hardware accesses software in any which way outside of the instructions through software that initially make use of it, or all hardware is basically just a piece of metal with little intrinsic ability that software code manages, controls, and uses to perform necessary tasks?

To put this as blunt as possible, take the following sentences in to consideration:

I: software controls hardware, so software tells hardware what to do.

II: hardware can control software with out software controlling the hardware.

Personally, I'd say the latter is false in general, but ... Read more

Hi,

I am not too savy when it comes to computers, but I do understand that you want us to run these new programs.

However, can someone tell me how to disable script blocking and where I can find it. I did a search in windows with no result.

Thank :)

A:Re: New instructions

Hello, and welcome to the forums -

Script blocking is typically part of one's AntiVirus protection software, but not all of them have it. If you try to run DDS and it fails to run, that's one likely reason. You'd then need to check your application's interface, and try to find something like a script blocker, and turn it off. Applications such as Norton frequently have a script blocking component.

Dear all,

I followed all of your instructions listed in the sticky'd section. I have run norton anti virus (updated as of today), spybot, ad-aware se, cleanup!, Hijack This and the Hijack This analyzer. Thank you so much for these free/wonderful solutions.

However, even after running through the safe mode instructions for "hijack this" given in another person's thread, and running cleanup! and spybot again, i still have semi-regular popups, the "loading website" popup in particular, as well as desktop shortcuts being created without reason. I have posted my log (again, it has been analyzed by hijack this analyzer.)

i need help figuring out exactly which files i have missed or overlooked (i am a novice... obviously) and need to delete with hijack this, and any other advice you might have to finish off these popups, i would greatly appreciate it. i realize how much time this takes (i've spent better part of six hours over the last two nights... thankfully this is my first real foray into personal computer security issues) so thank you very much in advance.

I have an xp and its gone berserk!Well maybe, anyway,Ive been having problems logging on to the net and when i finally do connect,i can't browse. It blinks me back to my desktop and i have to start all over again.I called my isp server(several times) and they have to walk me back thru the setup proccess before i am able to use this hunk-of-junk for anything. They finally got tired of me calling so they told me it was my equipment that was faulty and that i needed to call their tech support.Which i did do, and they told me if it connects at all in any way to the net its not the equipment and that it may be a virus. So he was sweet enough to copy me that avg (for free) and saved me $45.00.i ran the program and it indeed found a slew of viruses called trojan horses and copied the infected file to a virus vault, but its still doing the same dern thing!!I dont know much about computers but i figure if i start over,it might fix the problem. What do you think, would that do the trick? Thanks a bunch....babbee

A:need instructions

Start fresh.

All you do is boot from the CD. When it asks if you want to repair and to press "R", don't. Continue with the installation just like you were installing for the first time.

You will then get a license agreement and it will ask you to press F8 to agree. Right after that screen, you will see a list of Windows installations that setup found. Read the directions on that page!!!

Delete all the partitions you see and create a new one. Format it NTFS, as the directions on that page will direct you.

If you have any problems booting from CD, set the CD to boot earlier then the hard drive in BIOS setup, or come back for more help.

I have a quick question. I was looking at the instructions on how to use IE Spyad and all of sudden my computer began downloading from intellitype adware and then instead of links on the page I got pop up boxes. I don't remember the popup boxes directing me to other sites before. Am I just overly tired or is this is something you use for this site?

Thanks.

Question regarding User Information, . . . . .Users who have up to now installed an ANSI version of the AviraAntiVir PersonalEdition Classic software pack on a Microsoft WindowsNT, Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP operating system, receive update information when attempting to update. When updating, please proceed as follows: 1. Deinstall the installed version of the Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic. Can anyone tell me exactly what the above # 1 Means ?2. Download a current software pack from the downoad section of the Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic website http://www.free-av.com.3. Install this software pack on your computer.

A:Instructions Question ?

The prefix 'de' means remove completely. So, remove completely the installed version of the Avira AntiVirPersonalEdition Classic.1. Deinstall AVir (6 or 7) *complete*. In some cases you must delete the files of AntiVir manually.Make sure that all services of AVir are stopped and disabled before you delete AVir.2. Delete the contents of all TEMP-Folders of windows.3. Reboot your PC.4. Open the regedit program of windows (Start -> Execute or something like that). Or use a tool like ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com), jv16-PowerTools and so on.5. Delete *all* registry entries which are named as AntiVir and h+bedv.6. Reboot your PC.7. Install again AVir 7.If you have an external firewall (not the firewall of windows xp) make sure that all modules of AVir (inclusive the Internet access of the Updater of AVir) are enabled in these firewalls. Use the server privileges for the AVir-Modules.Now your PC should work proper and the update feature of AVir should work also proper. It seems that a simple registry entry and/or some external firewalls makes the named problems.Updates of AVir (vdf-files) are actual very difficult because all servers delivers at the same time the program and the vdf-updates.You can download the newest vdf-files alone from the homepage from h+b edv or wait a week till the servers works normal again.http://forum.avira.com/thread.php?threadid=1679I hope this answers your question.

Why can't I get Help from this program?

The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows. However, you can download a program that will allow you to view Help created in the Windows Help format.

Hi,

I was getting a phony security message associated with Win32.Zafi.B . Since a Google search took me directly to a thread that was very similar to my problem, I just went ahead and followed instructions meant for user fikol as found here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/f50/...on-347280.html . I downloaded and ran Combofix. My log is appended. As I write, I'm using the Kaspersky online scanner but I'm a long way from done and I need to head home. After reading instructions in the forum, I now realize I should have consulted with someone first on this. :( You may also be able to tell that TrendMicro was not disabled. I couldn't disable it as I didn't know the password (and probably should have waited until I could have found that out... I don't have very good impulse control I'm afraid)

Anyway, how does my log look? Since Fikol was advised to update Java, I did that too--it was way out of date. Could that have been how I got this bug in the first place?

Thanks for any help you can provide, Nick

Hello concubineofcaligvla and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log. There are a couple of items regarding a search re-director so let's fix those while you are here.ImportantFirst, your copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. If it is run from Temporary folders the backups and HijackThis itself could be accidentally deleted if the Temporary folders are cleaned. If it is run from the desktop then the backup files and folders can clutter up the desktop and be accidentally deleted. Please open My ComputerDouble-click on Local Disk (C:)Click on the File menu, point to New and then click on Folder. Name the folder 'HijackThis' or 'HJT'.Unzip to or copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder. Now, start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Hi everyone,
Regretfully I installed i.e. 7 beta 1. I found out how to uninstall it from this website: http://www.lifehacker.com/software/ask-lifehacker/ask-lifehacker-uninstall-internet-explorer-7-162581.php During the course of uninstalling it, there was an error.
Now when I go to ADD/Remove programs, there is no longer an option to remove the IE7 update.
I also tried running:
run %windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.exe
But Spuinst.exe no longer exists in my computer. Instead the folder just has 3 DLL files.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I have been trying to figure this out for weeks.

have a great weekend,

Problems with spyware. How do I run Hijack this and what needs to be posted?

Thanks for your help

A:Need Instructions on Hijack this

Hello turnerc
First try to clean you pc up alittle.
Download / Install /Update / and Run:

SpyBot S&D 1.3
And:
Adaware SE
Check for updates before scanning your computer.

Then....
Download and install: HiJackThis 1.99 .

(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders or Desktop. A good place to make a folder would be in My Documents,as this is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)

Then doubleclick HijackThis.exe, Make sure all Windows and Browsers are closed and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, use "Save Log" button, save the log in a text file, best to save your text file in the same folder as where you put HiJackthis.
Copy and paste your log in the HiJackThis Help Forum. (which is where you are)

***DO NOT TRY TO FIX ANYTHING, MAJOR DAMAGE CAN BE DONE TO YOUR SYSTEM IF THIS TOOL IS USED INCORRECTLY, PLEASE WAIT FOR OUR MODERATORS TO GIVE YOU INSTRUCTIONS***

Always describe your problem. Your description can go a long way to solving/repairing your particular issue.

Question on the preparation instruction set-

Under the Gmer instructions, I do not see the "scan" button. When I run that program, it scans, then pops up the warning which I answer no to. I can then uncheck the boxes as indicated, but from that point, there is no scan button? I cannot get it to scan with those boxes unchecked.

Also, I am running winxp, but I'm running in safe mode because of whatever has attacked my pc. Do these programs (dds and gmer) need to run outside of safe mode?

Thanks for helping me get started down this road to freedom.

Hello pstgh,

Yes, these tools can be run from Safe Mode. You likely can't see the scan button due to the screen resolution while in Safe Mode.

What happens while in Normal Mode?

I was having a google redirect issue that none of my programs could fix. My brother tried to fix my laptop and he ran combofix, and made it worse. He didn't follow any instructions (just ran it) and afterwards I couldn't open anything. Everything I tried (programs or files) came up with an error message saying that the registry keys were marked for deletion.

I found a few threads and the advice given to other people with the same problem was to open in safe mode and run sfc /scannow. I couldn't get into safe mode (windows start up repair launched and then froze...the second time I started windows normally and it worked). I ran sfc /scannow and it seemed to fix the registry key problem. The google redirect issue seems to be gone also.

My question is - now what do I do? Should I follow the instructions and run combofix again? Should I post the log from combofix in the log forum? Or just leave everything alone?

I'm not familiar with combofix but it seems like a pretty powerful tool, and I want to make sure there aren't huge steps I need to take now that it has been run on my pc.

Thank you!

*Using a Compaq laptop with Vista Home Premium.

A:Ran combofix without following instructions...

Let me first quote our quietman7's responseCombofix's disclaimer clearly says it is meant for for private use. The developer did not intend for his tool to be used any other way and it certainly was not intended for those running a computer business or for use in a business/corporate environment. When issues arise due to complex malware infections, possible false detections, problems running ComboFix or with other security tools causing conflicts, experts are usually aware of them and can advise what should or should not be done while providing individual assistance. When false detections are identified, experts have access to the developer and can report them so he can investigate, confirm and make corrections. Those attempting to use ComboFix on their own do not have such information and are at risk when running the tool in an unsupervised environment.Having run ComboFix we need to see that and a DDS log. Please go here....Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9 which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.Skip the GMER step and instead post the ComboFix log you posted earlier.Let me know if that went well.

Hello,
First thing I want to say is that it is great that you are offering this site and help to anyone. There needs to be more people in the world that will help people in need like you are doing.

I tried following instructions in other threads in here so I wouldn't have to bug you guys, but they don't seem to work for my system. One said to Turn off "Restore System" by right clicking on My Computer and going to Properties->System Restore, but I don't have that option in Properties.

I have Windows 2000 Pro and I have that damn "MxTarget" spyware and something called "StopPop" that reapears everytime I reboot my computer and run AdAware 6.0. I've downloaded HijackThis and run it. Here are my logs.

A:I Followed The Instructions - There's Still 1 Spyware

Hi A_fine_Mess & Welcome to BleepingcomputerWe'll need to move HiJackThis.exe out of a temporary directory and into a directory of its own, preferably C:\HJT (creating the folder if necessary). The reason behind this is that HJT creates backups of every "fix" we do in the folder it's running in. If we happen to "fix" something and need it later on, there is a very good chance that, by that time, that TEMP directory could be purged and our backups would be lost. If you need a detailed tutorial or just a better explanation as to why, please Look HerePlease move HJT to its own directory and repost your log. Thanks

I am sure this has been answered and for double posting I am sorry. I am on a friends laptop and surfing for answers has been hard.
I am trying to follow the instructions for the xp antivirus removal. I downloaded the fixncr onto my flash drive, opened it on my infected computer, it said are you sure you want to add the information to the registry, i said yes. After about 1 second it saysit was successfully added.

So then I tried to open IE so I could come to the instructions and run the rkill, but I can't open IE. It will let me open my homepage but when I try to come to ANY internet page it says threat detected and I can't continue.

I am sure I missed a step but I cant find it. Thanks for any help.

I tried saving to my flash drive directly this time and still no luck. It feels like I am missing a step or something.

Hello

I have just tried to remove virusprotectpro following the instructions on this site. It seems to have worked, but I am not 100% sure because what I had seemed to be different to what the instructions expected.

I used the manual process as I could not get into safe mode originally.

When I double-clicked FixVPP, Notepad opened. It didn't ask me anything.

The file I had was nuqjici.

When I tried Add or Remove Programs, Virusprotectpro was not listed so could not be uninstalled.

When running SmitfraudFix, I selected 2 and let it go. After less than a minute, it reported it could not clean a file because it was in use. I did not know whether it had continued to clean the rest of the disk or had stopped because of the error.

After it had finished, there was no red screen as described.

Does all this sound normal, or is there something screwy going on with this machine?

David

It is always a good idea to run Super Antispyware to remove other infections that accompany the Smitfraud malware.Install Super Antispyware. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds. http://www.superantispyware.com/You can post a Hijack This log to verify you are malware free.Post a Hijack This log in the Hijack This Forum by following the directions in the link below. Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Double click on HijackThis.exe to run the program.

i have told the bios in this old HP to startup using the cdrom, then the floppy. when i bootup with windows xp cd it looks like it checks it, but the setup screen for xp doesnt come up.

i have also tried booting with the windows startup disk, but that doesnt seem to be working either. it just loads xp and goes straight to desktop. i need to really format this pc as it needs it desperately...any ideas what i need to

A:bios not following instructions

Check that both your floppy and CD work in the first place.
Try this from within Windows.
Are you sure you SAVED the settings in BIOS after your changes?
Go to www.bootdisk.com and get the file to make a W98SE OEM bootfloppy.
Set BIOS to start from floppy first, boot from it, and select Start with CD-ROM support.
Then use FDISK first to change your partition(s) if needed.
Otherwise at the A:\> prompt type in format c: /u and hit enter.

I read that you should have adaware on your PC and configured in such a way. I did so. I also already had spybot, and I downloaded the new CWS shredder. I rebooted in safe mode so I could run these programs, but I could only find spybot, so that's all I was able to run. I did run McAfee's program in safe mode though. If the RC1 that you have is a .iso file, roughly 2.5 GB, that's all you need.

No reason to 'unpack' the iso.

Since you already have ImgBurn, you might want to look here:

What Write Speed do I use to burn W7?

You doin' 32 or 64?

You do not need to use dban unless you intend to pass device to anybody else. See tutorials section for step by setp guides to clean install windows 10.

I did all of the pre-HJT log instructions (patches, virus scan, ad-aware/Spybot/AVG Spyware all with tailored instructions, and a Panda active scan) to get my HJT log as clean as I can make it before I use up your time.

PC performance is slightly better, but still something is gobbling up a LOT of its process power. I am convinced I have a virus or trojan or something.

Could someone please take a look at this log and let me know what they see and/or what I can remove? I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks in advance!

I even ran SpyBot Search and Destroy on my PC, and I still have this Total Security mess on my computer. What the heck? Can anyone help me?Hello solaraslices,While we understand your frustration at having to wait, please note that Bleeping Computer deals with several hundred requests for assistance such as yours on a daily basis. As a result, our backlog is quite large, as are other comparable sites that help others with malware issues. Athough our HJT Team members work on hundreds of requests each day, they are all volunteers who work logs when they can and are able to do so. No one is paid by Bleeping Computer for their assistance to our members.Further, our malware removal staff is comprised of team members with various levels of skill and expertise to deal with thousands of malware variants, some more complex than others. Although we try to take DDS/HJT logs in order (starting with the oldest), it is often the skill level of the particular helper and sometimes the operating system that dictates which logs get selected first. Some infections are more complicated than others and require a higher skill level to remove. Without that skill level attempted removal could result in disastrous results. In other instances, the helper may not be familiar with the operating system that you are using, since they use another. In either case, you wouldn't want someone to assist you who is not familiar with your issue and attempt to fix it, would you?We ask that once you have posted yo... Read more

Hello. When I restart my computer it takes forever at the "Shutting Down" Windows 7 Screen... and then I receive a BSOD with a memory dump at the bottom and the error code "BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER" at the top... Also whenever I plug in my iPod touch it restarts windows explorer. Or when I right click a desktop icon it does the same thing. After I unplug my iPod, if I plug it back in (or anything else like a flash drive) my computer will do nothing... it won't recognize it until I restart my computer. These problems have persisted and are very annoying, any help would be appreciated.

? OS - Windows 7 Ultimate x86

? Video Card - XFX GeForce 8600 GT 256MB DDR3
? MotherBoard - Foxconn 571M
? Power Supply - brand & wattage - Onia 600W PSU

FYI I am aware that I have no Anti Virus and my on board HDAudio is not working. I removed my Anti Virus and will be installing one again soon, I know I don't have a virus. And I have a sound card installed so I don't need on board. (The problem was there before I did either of these things.)

**NOTE** I could not get the jsgriff2 output because I have my user folder on a different hard drive than my OS, and the jsgriff.exe doesnt seem to like that. I typed all of my system information into a text document instead and included that... hope it works..!?

Anyways...

My system only has BSOD'd twice since I put it together in January of last year. Nothing really "triggers" it. It actually BSOD'd both times while I was away from keyboard.

The PERFMON contains some missing drivers, that would be the USB 3.0 Drivers that I am not installing because they don't work well with my specific keyboard and mouse.

Thank you! Any help is greatly appreciated!

I Followed the instructions on this website (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-antivirus-vista-2010) and everything progressed very normally. When i was done with the malwarebytes scan and removed all of the infected files Malwarebytes asked me to restart my computer to apply the changes so i said yes. That was the last time my computer worked. Now durring the boot screen i get the blue screen of death. I dont have the Windows Vista Instal disk to repair the computer (the version is home premium and all i had was ultimate) when I tried the ultimate version of windows vista cd to boot and repair from, it found a problem but couldnt fix it.Looking at the log the root cause was unkown bugcheck called bugcheck7e and the window repair failed because of the error code 0x490I really dont know if that information helps but i hope it does.I think what I am looking for is maybe an ISO of widows vista home premium because maybe the different versions caused my windows repair to fail but I could really use some help

I read as many entries here as I could find and followed the directions. following are the actions I took;
ran adaware 6 latest version, ran CWS latest version,
ran HJT and deleted all files on your delete list,
followed the HKEY_current_user\software\microsoft\searchassistant\ACMru\5603 and deleted winshow.dll and sys.reg (actually I found this one in HKEY classe I think) but I did find both and deleted them after after i checked show hidden files and unchecked hide protected OS files.
Also from other help threads, I unchecked ieDLL from the MSCONFIG start up.

I did all these things and rebooted and searchv was back. I re did everything that was reinstalled and here is the HJT log.

I don't understand what to do at this part on this website: http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108334

Delete the contents of the Temp directory.

Choose one of the following methods to delete the contents of the Temp directory.

Note: Do not delete the Temp directory itself. Delete only the files and folders in the directory.

Using a MS-DOS Command
Click Start > Run.
Type deltree /y temp_directory_location\*.*. For example:
deltree /y C:\Windows\Temp\*.*
temp_directory_location is the location of the Temp directory.

A:Trouble with Instructions

A Far easier way to clear out the temp directory would be from my computer

Like so:

1)Open up My Computer.

2)Open C: Local Disk (You may have renamed it, but it will still be C:)

3)Find the Folder Named Temp, or, in some cases, Tmp.

3b) If you cant find it, Try looking in the windows Folder (Ignore the warning not to modify system files, in this case, the Temp Directory doesn't count.)

4) After you have located this folder, open it.

5) Go to Edit, then Select all.

6)Then, before you delete anything, check to make sure there are no .sys Files. these are important Windows files.

7) Hit Delete!

8) And finally, empty your recycle bin.

Hope that helped!

Hi!Below please see my original post and boopme's response. Basically - my bro ran combofix without any prep/instructions and I'm trying to finish it up the right way.I attached the three documents boopme requested and skipped the GMER step completely. Thanks for your help! I really appreciate anyone taking the time to look at this.yonsterr Posted Today, 11:27 AM Hi everyone!I was having a google redirect issue that none of my programs could fix. My brother tried to fix my laptop and he ran combofix, and made it worse. He didn't follow any instructions (just ran it) and afterwards I couldn't open anything. Everything I tried (programs or files) came up with an error message saying that the registry keys were marked for deletion.I found a few threads and the advice given to other people with the same problem was to open in safe mode and run sfc /scannow. I couldn't get into safe mode (windows start up repair launched and then froze...the second time I started windows normally and it worked). I ran sfc /scannow and it seemed to fix the registry key problem. The google redirect issue seems to be gone also.My question is - now what do I do? Should I follow the instructions and run combofix again? Should I post the log from combofix in the log forum? Or just leave everything alone?I'm not familiar with combofix but it seems like a pretty powerful tool, and I want to make sure there aren't huge steps I need to take now that it has been run on ... I also trid to download a video from the web and it is now in my media player and when I try to drag that into WMM a window pops up telling me I need some kind of codec? This is all new to me, so speak a da English.

Hello,

A co-worker asked me if I had ever gotten the following error: “Instructions at 0x7e41b4c0 referenced memory at 0x7e411880e. Memory cannot be written.” I have not seen the PC so I don’t have a wealth of information here. She said it does this when she is shutting down. My first thought would be the obvious, a memory issue. However, I can’t exactly go to her home and troubleshoot this issue due to a geographical limitation. She also doesn’t have quite the expertise for me to explain how to run MemTest to her. Anyone know if this is a simple fix that I can draft up a solution tutorial for her, or is this a bigger issue that requires actual physical contact with said PC? Thanks a ton!

P.S. She is running Windows XP, but I am not sure which service pack, though I assume at least 2.

A:Instructions at... Memory cannot be written

The error is usually caused by an application failure, not by memory. The bar at the top of the error window should show the application name. Also, have her look in Event Viewer under Application or System for a red "X" error that ocurred at the same time.

1. One such instruction in the article is this: "Check the Config.nt and Autoexec.nt files in the SystemRoot%\System32 folder for non-standard settings."

Question: How does one know or learn what the standard settings are?

2. A 2nd. instruction reads: "Use a REM statement to remark out all entries except the following default entries."

Question: How, exactly, do I use a REM statement to remark out entries?

I am so sorry but I am not sure about the DDS part of the instructions for submitting a log for analysis. If I have already scanned on the Hijack This site, do I still need to do the DDS scan or do you assume that a scan has not yet been done?
