Q: Dell Inspiron 7559 Does Not Boot After Win10 Anniversary Update + Antivirus Re-Installation

I have the Dell Inspiron 7559 (non-touch) and was able to install the Windows 10 Anniversary Update today after a long session of sitting though Windows Updates. Everything seemed to work fine, except that I had to uninstall my antivirus (Symantec Endpoint Protection). No biggie, I'll just reinstall it after the update. I think it also said that the Intel WiDi drivers had to be uninstalled as well, which it did automatically, but that was all that happened during that process.
So I attempt to do so, and I was able to install it via the .msi file (the .exe file wouldn't work for some reason), and the computer begins to reboot. Constantly. The laptop would freeze somewhere from when the login screen appears to a couple minutes after that. It would hang for a couple minutes, then reboot. It rebooted enough times for it to go to the Windows 10 recovery options. I just told it to restart so that I could tell it to boot into safe mode on the next bootup (shift-click restart when I got inside Windows). It works, and I then tell it to boot into safe mode.
Now my laptop won't boot at all. It won't go past the Dell logo. I can enter the BIOS and the boot options menu, as well as load the ePSA diagnostics tool and have the tests pass (no errors). But it won't get past the Dell logo after this. It doesn't restart, flash lights or anything like that. Just hangs on the Dell logo.
How can I resolve this issue?

So, after the Anniversary update I have no internet.  Both Wifi and Eithernet show as "Connected - No Internet".  Windows Troubleshooter says I have "A problem with the driver".  I've updated the drivers, I've put old drivers back in and no luck.  I've even tried 3 different USB wifi adapters, with both the supplied drivers and the built in Win10 drivers, and no luck there either. 
I can't go back to an earlier build, the option is not there.  I tried a restore point and the computer f ailed to boot and I had to restore some system files from another Win10 computer using a Linux boot disk.
I'm assuming I can't refresh Windows as I'll still be on the Anniversary Update.
Is there any chance Dell will release updated drivers?  I see that this PC is NOT in their compatibility list.
Is there any known solution to this other than a full recovery from the recovery partition?

Hello,Got the Dell Inspiron 15-7559Standard with 100 gb 2,5 inch HDD.Inserted a Kingston 2.5 inch HDD, works fine.Now days later I also inserted a M.2. Sata SSD. Both Disks work.But when selectign legacy boot and first selecting the second HDD it does not boot up the 2nd HDD. It gives an error message saying boot.msgr is missing.Tried :- Legacy mode, Secure mode on and off- Turning back to Uefi mode with secure mode on and off- Legacy mode and all kidns or boot orders.When I press F12 at startup and go to boot selection and select 2nd HDD, there is no problem, it boots up my 2.5 inch ssd no problem.Now I installed windows also on my M.2. Sata SSD and this one boots up fine in legacy mode. No issues at all. But also now when setting 2nd HDD first it still boots up the m.2. And once again manually selecting the 2nd HDD at startup works fine.I would like to use the 2.5inch ssd as boot device and the M.2. sata as storage.I have my reasons for this lol. :) Can anybody supply me with some advice/help?Thanks in advance!

My problem is ... no, not quite so, my PROBLEM is Windows 10 Anniversary Update gets downloaded, installed and failed again and again. When it goes through Windows Update Center everything goes well but finally after a reboot I get a notification that the system couldn't install the update. No other information or error codes provided. After that Windows Update Center finds the same Anniversary Update and everything goes in circle. I called Microsoft Support three times with different engineers but with the same final result - the problem still unsolved. I used MediaCreationTool utility as well. With this utility the whole process goes well but finally I get popup window that says "Error occurred while installing update". When I tried to reinstall Windows 10 from the image created by MediaCreationTool I got error code 0xd0000034 (finally!!! something I can use to find a solution !!!), but looking through the Internet for this code didn't help to resolve this. Any other updates are installed with no issues. The Problem only with Anniversary Update.

Since I updated my Dell Inspiron to the Windows 10 Anniversary edition I've come up with two problems.

The first was that it the laptop would automatically restart if Shut Down was selected with no possibility of really shutting down. This was solved by turning off the Fast Startup in power options. Now it takes too much time considering I'm using a SSDThe second one is still unresolved and it is that the laptop freezes every time I turn it on at the Dell logo and the only way of making it boot is by closing and opening the lid again. After that it boots normaly. 

I've tried different power options with no success. Power troubleshooter doesn't detect anything. It also happens with no usb devices attached.
I don't know if it is sofware or hardware related

Any ideas?UPDATE1: I've formatted and installed windows again and the problem persists... so It's definetly hardware or BIOS

Hi, I can't seem to get anything higher than 1920x1080 in the list of available resolution options when I connect my Dell U2713HM monitor to my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. I've run this monitor at 2560x1440 on another laptop over HDMI in the past but that was with Windows 8. The Intel HD Graphics 530 Control Panel doesn't offer any resolutions above 1920x1080 for the external monitor and adding custom resolutions results in the error "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". I'm using the same high speed HDMI cable that worked at 2560x1440 with this monitor on my previous laptop. I'm fully up to date on all of the drivers for the laptop.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure what else to try. Could this be a Windows 10 issue? Should I try the standard Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers from the Intel website?

The hardware on the system supports the 2560x1440. It should be a software issue. I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the video card driver from Dell website as these drivers are tested on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the video card.

Press the Windows key and Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
Select the Display adapters listed and right click on it.
Now select properties.
In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
You want to delete the driver click OK.

After the uninstall finishes restart the system. Then reinstall the Intel video card driver for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the video card drivers from Video section onto the system and install it.

Hi All, I recently got a Dell Inspiron 7559. It came with a 8GB Skhynix "hmt41gs6bfr8a-pb no aa 1506" RAM stick. I'd like to upgrade it to 16GB. I thought I had bought the same 8GB RAM model from ebay, but I had received an 8 GB Skhynix "hmt41gs6bfr8a-pb na aa 1511". Are they two completely different models because of their different nomenclature? Can I still use it to upgrade my ram? Thank you

There's only one memory socket on this model, so an 8G isn't going to get you an upgrade.  You need a 16G module to upgrade.

Hi, i have an Inspiron 15 7559. Last week my battery  was damaged and can't use it anymore, since then I have low fps while gaming (gta v, witcher 3, etc.), I've read there is a kind of throttling when there is no battery, maybe the turbo boost is not being enabled.
Is there a way I can make the laptop work again like before, I can't buy a new battery yet because I live in Peru and is hard to find this battery model.

Hi,
I opened my new Inspiron 7559 today, after updating all the drivers including the NVIDIA one, so I installed league of legends, upon playing the first game, I noticed my FPS was around 130 and would cap around there, I found this odd as the laptop I had returned before this was an older model by Dell and it ran the game completely fine at 215 FPS another thing I noticed is the game would freeze randomly, overall it feels like my laptop isn't keeping up even though it has really good specs, what is the possible issue?

I use it for work, mainly translation tools, and also for some ocasional gaming (Witcher 3, Cities skylines, etc.).
So I was thinking on maybe upgrading it a bit, but as I´m on a budget I can only afford upgrading the ram up to 16GB or to buy an SSD of 250GB, what would you suggest to upgrade?, which of both would have more impact on the performance?.

Just got my computer back from Dell tech support having sent it because of an issue with no audio output device installed and the red x on the toolbar. The computer is in the exact same state as before I sent it with nothing fixed. I've tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times, checked if audio services were running and all of that. Feels like a huge waste of money at this point and is especially disappointing because this computer was actually a gift for someone. Has anyone had this issue with this computer and have it resolved without resorting to an external usb sound driver?

You can diagnose this by performing a system recovery (reset the laptop back to the original factory configuration.) If there is still no audio immediately after recovery, before getting on the internet, then the audio hardware has failed and Dell will have to fix it under the terms of the warranty. In other words they could not say it is a software issue and therefore not covered.
If the recovery does fix it, but the problems recurs after getting on the internet, then probably some Windows Updates-related issue.

Hi All,I have an Inspiron 15 7000 series (7559) to be exact.Core i7 processor,4 GB RAM,GTX 960M and 1 TB HDD.I have been trying to play GTA V,The Witcher 3 and a few other games but none of them work properly there is so much lag.I have reinstalled windows all NVIDIA drivers and everything is up to date.While playing the game GTA V in this case when it lags my DISK is at 100% in the task manager could that be the issue.I have been so disappointed with this laptop till now.Can anyone please help me with this issue.

Hello, I'm having a small problem with my new Dell laptop.
I can't find the option where I could set my keyboard backlight to stay on constantly. It keeps falling asleep (turning off) after a short period of time. It is really annoying late in the evening as I always have to wake it up. Is there any way I could turn off the automatic sleep mode or atleast prolong it?

I have just bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7559 and it just arrived this morning. However, when I try to play any sound the speaker starts to crackle heavily. The only solution that works is plugging in headphones and unplugging them which seems to work. But once you shut down the computer, and turn it back on, this problem still exists. I have already updated the realtek hd audio driver as well as the bios. I would hate to have to return the laptop as it works flawlessly otherwise.

Hello, my dell is getting some issues with its speakers, a kind of popping crackling noise, I've just registered two videos. After updating the bios it seems working better and is not as much as before. Should I rma my laptop or it's a driver issue? This is the first day that I have been using it.

I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 15 7559 a month ago. The first week it was amazing with no problems at all. 
Then when I was working on it, left it plugged in and left is for a while, then came back to it after 1 hour or so, I noticed that the battery was discharging. 
Did not mind it until it went to "plugged in, charging" 0% and it shut off completely. 
I tried to turn it on several times and it did not turn on. 
Called Dell service center and advised to remove the battery. I cannot remove the battery completely because of the screw type but managed to remove the cables. 
I turn it back on and it worked again. But after a few days the probem kept recurring. 
Its going like "plugged in, charging" but it is not charging. Or "1 hour 05minutes to full charge" but after an hour it will be "1 hour 40minutes to full charge". I mean what gives. 
Have done all that was advised in the internet but not hing is working. 
I have done restart task manager, uninstall API, and all that, but the problem is recurring.
BIOS was updated recently also. So is it hardware of software. 
Please help for anymore ideas?
Its brand new, it rocks when it is working, but I dont have the patience to kept on checking for hte battery status. It is getting annoying also.

Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible? 
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.

My 7559 laptop is still relatively new but I feel like ever since an update in June it's been acting strange. It froze for no reason and wouldn't shut off when I held the power button. I had to unplug it and let the battery die. When I restarted everything was fine so I ran McAfee got nothing and moved on.
That said, ever since it can't seem to handle sleep mode as well as it use too. I was able to leave it on for a few weeks at a time and now I feel like I have to turn it off daily or it's Memory goes up. It's also frozen once since the initial freeze but that time it actually let me hold the power to turn it off. 
I'm fairly certain I'm not the only one experiencing this. I think it's the update that caused it, but I don't really have any proof other than McAfee hasn't found anything. I've been keeping the task manager up to keep an eye out but the only things that are noticeable are System and Compressed memory and McAfee. Well those and Chrome but chrome's always been a hog. 
I can deal with it for now, but I'm hoping there will be an update or something to fix it. I'm really just posting to see if anyone else has experienced this or something similar.

There is no need to wait until the battery runs down to turn off a frozen laptop nowadays. Simply hold down the power button until it shuts off. It will take 30-40 seconds.
You can uninstall updates if you think there is a bad update. Open Settings, Update, Advanced Options, View update History, Uninstall updates. Not all updates can be uninstalled but some can. You should also check the Event Viewer for clues as to what might be hanging up the computer.

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7559 laptop about a week or so ago and several days later realised some odd USB transfer behaviour. Tried all 3 different usb3.0 ports, same problem.
(Bios was updated immediately after cloning hdd to m.2 ssd and all drivers updated.)
(I swapped the 1TB hybrid drive with a Samsung 850EVO and installed an m.2 Samsung 850EVO) (OS and most files on the m.2 drive)
External hard disk: Transfer of large sizes or even a single large file (GoPro video near 4gb) occurred rather erratically (fluctuating between 90+ and 40+ mb/s) and eventually reaching 0mb/s and pausing there for quite awhile before transferring again at fluctuating speeds, sometimes reaching 0 and pausing again. File transfer completes eventually, but after a ridiculously long time.
The same hard disk works fine with my desktop (writes at a steady 90+mb/s)

External ssd: transfers for awhile before reaching 0 and giving an error code. (works fine with my desktop) (error code: 0x8000745D)

Thumb drive: writes fine at 90-100+mb/s, just like my desktop.  
Notes: File transfer problems mentioned above were from both the m.2 drive and 2.5mm drive, internal transfer from the m.2 to the 2.5mm Samsung 850EVO ran fine. Samsung Magician installed, problems persist with RAPID either enabled or disabled.
 
Solutions I've tried but have not made a difference:
Chkdsk /f /r
Booting into safe mode (transfer problems existed even in safe mode)
Uninstalling and reinstalling usb drivers

so the next part is the Kicker Dell did a number on their Bios and rather than using standard logic as we have done so many years just setting the boot order to "Boot USB" first, you "Only" have the option to create a "Boot Program"!!! so you select your USB Drive then which ever file you want it to boot I'm Assuming? So I tried selecting Setup, bootmgr.efi, and autorun with no results!

I get the secured boot error crap, turn that off and I get Legacy BIOS (that defeats the entire point) What the hell happened to Win95 Boot Discs and FDISK?

I am so frustrated with this garbage, I found out the hard way with Windows 10 and trying to nuke the SSD and put a clean install of 8.1 on it.

Any directions especially concerning Dell's wonderful BIOS would be appreciated!

Hello,
I have bought this laptop about 2 months ago. Since i bought it, I have noticed that it's performance is not what i should expect.
I mean, i can be in Google Chrome viewing a page, and in the moment i scroll using my mouse, the laptop like freezes for a milisecond and then continues. Same happens when playing videogames, i can be playing at low/ultra details, 60+ frames per second, but every now and then i get a frame drop and then it goes back to where it was before, it's super annoying and shouldn't be happening.
I always thought it was something with the game, that it was not well optimised but it seems to be the computer.
Things i have done:
1. I reinstalled Windows 10 using the software provided by Microsoft.
2. All my drivers are up to date
What could it be? my laptop specs are:
6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)]NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GDDR58GB Single Channel DDR3L 1600MHz (8GBx1)1TB (5400rpm) Hybrid HDD with 8GB Flash
All these things occur with the laptop plugged or not, it doesn't matter. Gaming, i have used Balanced and High Performance battery mode but i don't see any difference. This has happened to me for example in CS:GO, LoL, World of Warships, etc.

When you are saying that it is stuttering, does it do this all the time or is it something that will be working and then you get a quick stutter and then things return to normal?  If this is happening, it's most likely just a point in time where the files that the processor needs to access files haven't been loaded into RAM yet.  Your processor then has to wait for the HDD to load the file and continue on from there.  Does Google Chrome do this all the time?  Again, when it first boots or if there is something that computer has to load on the webpage such as Flash or anything like that, it can cause a temporary delay in the time that it is loading.  If it's doing it constantly then it might be something to look at, but once in awhile, it's not uncommon for this to happen during loading.  5400RPM is slowest speeds for HDD and it can cause your computer to have to wait for loading here and there.

Hey everyone,
I was using my Dell Inspiron 7559 this weekend and suddenly the audio from my headphones quit. I had no problems in the first month I had the laptop, and the audio from the speakers still works fine. When I plug in the headphones the dialog box also doesn't show asking me about the audio device connected to the port. I know the headphones work on my phone, and I've tried deinstalling the Realtek audio driver and using the native driver. Nothing seems to work. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm grateful for any help!

I have brand new a Dell Inspiron 7559 (Core i5 model) which i received 2 days ago.  The inbuilt speakers work fine. But when I plug in my earphones, the is sound only on the left side and a very faint sound on the right one. When I check the left and right sound in the sound properties, both the test sounds appear on the left side only. The earphones I am using are Klipsch R6. And here are no issues with the earphones since they work perfectly with my phone and other Dell Inspiron laptop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

It started with Norton 360: wouldn't update, hasn't updated for 91 days now. I disabled Norton on startup and installed AVG, and now AVG won't update either.

System is bot-free XP Home SP3, approx three months old (i.e. Norton has never updated, even if it's a 90 day trial), I had a bit of trouble with the Automatic Updates (reregistering wups2.dll didn't help) but updated through IE>Windows Update eventually.

Anyone know what might be interfering with these update processes? Any other ideas appreciated!!

Hi, I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 7559 for school, my first laptop ever. It took me about 6 months to finally decide on a laptop, and I'm very happy with it...it's beautiful. But, I've had two problems with the display. First, there is some slight yellow discoloration on the right half, not a big deal, just my ocd, probably just some backlight bleed or something. But the big issue is that the screen brightness flickers constantly. I can only really notice it on the lower brightnesses, but I use those so its a problem. I've tried EVERYTHING. Tons of driver fiddling, power option fiddling. I cant tell if it flickers in the bios screen or lcd bist, but I've disabled both NVidia and intel HD graphics drivers and no matter what I do, it still flickers. This makes me think that this Is a hardware issue. If anyone has some insight, I would really appreciate it. Should I send it in for repair, or just wait a bit as I read online somewhere that the lcd backlight needs to "settle in" for it to stop flickering with takes a decent amount of screen on time. Sorry for the long post, but this is my first pc and I'm a little bit picky about the function of my things. Thanks.

Hello,
I got this laptop recently and ran into an issue when connecting to external displays, in all games I am unable to set my video settings to 60Hz when choosing to project my display to the external screen only. If I duplicate the screen then I have no issue, but I want to be able to close the laptop lid and have 60Hz as an option, otherwise everything shows up as 59Hz which causes stuttering and flickering. The weird thing is that in Windows my refresh rate shows up as 60Hz at 1920x1080 but when launching any game 59Hz is the highest I can go to when set to display as "second screen only" in Windows 10. Please let me know what I could to fix this, and if it is not clear let me know.

When I installed windows it automatically found a driver for both the nvidia 960m and intel hd 530.  I went to nvidia site and installed the latest drivers even though they warned it may cause instability. When  I realized things were going wrong with the screen tearing I immediately uninstalled and installed the correct video drivers from the website here.   However I am still having problems with screen tearing horizontally across the whole screen at least with videos playing through steam.  At the time of the screen tearing I did have my laptop connected to my 1080p tv via hdmi.  Any ideas?  Do I need to reinstall windows completely to get rid of the newest nvidia driver I installed?

Hello,
Recently I bought the Dell Inspiron 7559 (gaming one).
It has the option to add a SSD drive. I bought a m.2 SSD 256gb drive from Plextor.
See link for the version. The BIOS and Windows both don't recognize the SSD.
I have put it in and out several times. Updated BIOS / Resetted BIOS. It just won't recognize it.
Do I have to tweak any settings in BIOS for the SSD slot to "activate"?
I thought this was a plug and play thing. How can I get this to work?
Note: I also have my HDD still plugged cuz it has everything on it (windows etc).
I want to convert windows to the SSD if it CONNECTS EVER.

Guys I messed up real bad... I saved up money for a year to buy this laptop and finally yesterday ordered it in ebay, and afterwards going through the details I noticed it didn't say that it had the gtx 960m video card but rather intel HD graphics built in. In your case, Dell Inspiron 15 7559 was an "Manufacture Refurbished" of returned Inspiron 15 to the factory according to the description.
Thus, read carefully next time, as refurbished are likely "tested" to function as intended. From the page on Ebay you have brought, it might have been a bad buy, so you got rip off for the wrong product if you did not get your refund. Ebay in my view is not too safe, it more of a trade market  versus places where you can buys computer officially. Thus this problem is between you and the seller.

While playing CS:GO, my laptop froze and won't shutdown with holding down the power button, had to open up the back panel and pull the battery connector to shut it down. This is the first time it happened, had the laptop since Feb.
Is it related to cpu temperature management? Ambient temperature in my room is kinda high lately would peak to 87 degrees C using HWMonitor from 80 normally.
Any feedback/replies to this post is pretty much appreciated! Just want to know what to avoid to keep it from happening again.

Dell has decided to abandon a lot of its customer base with its decision to not support the Win10 Anniversary update (1607). I have an XPS 8300 that is not supported. I suppose the only recourse for those of us who are to be treated this way is to abandon Dell as a supplier. No issue with my HP laptops (with older technology) or with my HP desktop.

I just bought this Inspiron 15 7559, used.  The previous owner says it was working perfectly when he sent it to me.
When I received it (Oct 24), it would not boot up.  I'd press the power button, and the power button and keyboard backlight would come on, and a fan would come on for about 2 seconds and then stop, but that was it.  Also, the status light would alternate flashing white a few times, then amber.  We took the battery and memory out, and did a power reset.  Replaced the memory and plugged in the AC adapter, and the computer started up.  So we put the battery back in, and everything was good.
Less than a week later (Oct 30), I was using the computer, just checking Facebook and email and such, and the screen went crazy and froze up.  All I could do was do a force shutdown.  But when I tried to turn it back on, it was doing the same thing it did when I received it.  We tried what we did before, removing battery and memory and resetting power and all that, but it still will not come on.  I ran the LCD BIST test, and the screen did come on and flash different colors, so I know the screen itself still works.
The laptop is still under warranty, so I could send it in.  Or, the person I got it from said they'd give me my money back if they had to.  I just wanted to find out if it was something I could possibly fix myself, before having to send it off for who knows how long, or returning it to the previous ow... Alicia.You will need to wait for the warranty to transfer before you can send it in for repairs. The transfer could take 2-4 weeks to get the warranty transferred to your name. You can take the battery out,remove the power adapater and hold the power button down for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Put the battery back in and turn it on. If that does not work it will  need to be repaired under the warranty.

My 6 month old Dell Inspiron 7559 has starting coming apart from around the left side hinge. The keyboard plate is being separated from the bottom chassis and can see inside. Dell support say its damage or wear and tear. Really!. The laptop has been at home and not moved beyond 5 feet for the last 6 months. There is NO damage and even a microscopic inspection will not reveal any damage. Wonder how UK support brushed me off even after sending photos and saying not covered by warranty. (1) Somehow my System Restore was set to Disabled and all of my restore points are now gone and

(2) All of my Microsoft Update History is also missing.

Could the update be the cause of both?

Major version upgrades like this change so much functionality, they often have to reset various settings to default so that they are in a known good state. Unfortunately, many have complained about the System Restore option being reset to Disabled (this is the Windows default).

As for your previous restore points, that's to be expected. You can't restore to a previous restore point on a previous OS version. All the baseline files are different, and you would be restoring settings for the old OS if you were to somehow be able to restore it.

Think of it like a Bookmark or favorite, but they've moved the location to a different URL. Restoring the old favorite only points you to somewhere that doesn't exist anymore.

As for #2, your update history is gone because again, it's a fresh OS, and previous updates are all integrated into the OS now, not patches. Those old updates don't apply to the new OS anymore.

I'm so impressed by this little notebook, so I wanted to see if anyone else is still using the old S12 ?Bought mine in the end of 2009 and I've used it "almost" every day since. It only rested for a year or so, when I bought a used G550. (The G550 is giving up, so it will be replaced today)When Windows 10 became available for free, I revived the little sucker and yesterday I loaded the Anniversary Update.Took a while, okay no... double that three times So... how am I using my S12 today ?It's only use is as a network music player. I made Win10 as small as possible and have Spotify and the media player Winyl.External sound card is Sound Blaster X-Fi HD which is connected to my amplifier Some Creative software is also installed, Firefox, Anti Virus, Defragment Tool and a Cleaner + some inevitable stuff.C:\ is only 16.5 Gb. Oh yes, I'm connecting remotely to it with Teamviewer, so that is installed as well.Digital Audiophiles would probably recommend Server 2012 or similar, but this works perfect for me  Any other S12 out there alive and kicking ?

I Have been using IE 11 since its inception; no real complaints (until now) and since I'm used to it I dread having to change. Since the Windows Anniversary Update IE 11 is a total nightmare. I may as well just throw my laptop away since I can't do anything on it. Yahoo Mail does not recognize IE11 anymore since the update ( I had to adjust the compatibility view settings in order to be able to keep the latest version of Yahoo Mail); of course it took me several day to find this fix after hours of researching the internet!). I downloaded the Win10 US english x64 ISO (which has both Pro and Home in it) off links mentioned on official MS windows blog, where you go to "Get Windows 10" link then download the media creation tool to get the ISO.
My question is: what's the checksum (SHA-1 and/or SHA-256) of the ISO created/downloaded by the tool? It does not match the SHA-1 checksum mentioned on MSDN website so I'm guessing (hoping) the ISO may be updated since then.
The values I'm getting are as follows - can anyone else confirm?

This is the 3rd major upgrade/update and each time I have had to re-install printer, drivers, etc. All steps have been taken again this time, with tech support and on my own. Documents are sitting in the print queue, but my printer will not print them.

Woke up to my computer updating to windows 10 anniversary update, thought ok whatever. after starting a game and alt tabbing out to do a few things. i get back in and notice the screen is frozen but the game is still running, you can still interact with everything and hit the pause menu but the screen is still showing a frozen image. Does this for every game

Hi everyone,
I want to exchange the HDD in my Inspiron 7559 with a normal SATA SSD (I have a Crucial MX300 750 GB).
I did that, and when I'm starting the PC now, the screen stays black, although the light on the power button turns on. To clarify, I can't enter the BIOS, I don't see the DELL logo, the screen just turns, and stays, black. After switching back to the original HDD, the system behaves normally.
First I figured that the laptop required some files on the HDD to start, so I reinstalled the original HDD and cloned it via the Crucial cloning software. That didn't help, the screen still stays perfectly black.
I tried detaching power-adapter and all USB devices, to no avail.
What can I do here? I don't want to keep using the original HDD until Amazon finally has my M.2 SSD in stock. I already updated the BIOS to 1.1.8, after which I was able to boot from the SSD ONCE, after the next reboot the problem was back.
I'd appreciate your help!

This is a recent problem I ran into with my new 7559. About a week ago I did a factory reset because the speakers were having a problem, and it worked fine for a couple days. Afterwards it would go into this flickering loop after it would wake up from sleep. This makes it so anytime I'm not using the laptop I basically have to shut it down, which really ***. I've posted a link of what the issue looks like. I ran the dell hardware test and my computer passed, and I also updated my drivers so I don't know what else to do. Thank you to anyone who can shed some light on what's happening.

Checking update history shows no errors, just the update waiting to be installed.
Here's what happens: update goes all the way through to the end, then it hangs with a black screen with the little dots going round and will sit like that for as long as I'll let it. There's no hard drive activity during this period.
When I eventually get bored of waiting, I do a hard reboot and the previous version is reinstated.
Any ideas how to move on from this?

Both my Win10 machines updated themselves to the anniversary update over the weekend, and now both are exhibiting an annoying problem.
In Windows Explorer, the network entry in the left hand pane used to be able to display a list of machines on my home network if I clicked on the expand arrow beside it. Since the update however that seems to be broken, the list there doesn't show up any more if you click to expand.
Selecting the Network tag itself still brings up the summary screen in the main right hand pane showing the machines on the network, and all machines are accessible by directly typing their names in the bar at the top (\\devicenamehere for example).
Has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone know if there is a fix that can be done to re-enable the functionality (I presume as the expansion arrow is still there that the list should still be accessible and this isn't a removed feature)?

I have an HP Envy 15 laptop running Win 10, and a few days ago the sound just cut out. I've tried the usual reinstallation of both the IDT HD audio driver and the generic Windows audio driver, as well as finding the latest drivers on the HP website, to no avail. On the occasional restart, I have sound briefly upon boot for about 10 seconds, then it disappears. There seem to be other effects too: volume control in the taskbar seems to be very slow and laggy to respond to mouse clicks, and the control panel sound window also lags. When I test the speakers in the control panel, the volume bars light up as usual, and troubleshooting seems to indicate nothing wrong with my audio, despite there being no sound.

Really frustrated as there seems to be nothing else I can do, anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I didn't have a choice to update to the anniversary update. Following the update - the screen doesn't always refresh very well - sometimes there is gobblygook when switching windows.I have a 2560x1440 display.

Hello. I have a Dell Inspiron 7559 and yesterday the Dell Update application notified me of a BIOS update. I didn't think it could be so much of a problem (unfortunately) so I run the update and followed the on screen instruction. I don't know if the update went through or not, but after that whenever I try to boot Windows I am greeted by a "MEMORY MANAGEMENT" BSOD.
I have tried flashing different BIOS versions (every single one found on the Dell support page for my machine) and while the update goes well it doesn't solve the problem. I have also tried to reinstall Windows and I am able to get it to boot if I choose the 32 bit installation but only 1.89GB out of 8GB are usable. If I choose the 64bit installation (the one I had originally) I can't even get to the desktop. Dell Diagnostic tool finds no error and neither Memtest86 (4 passes run, now I am trying with 10). Any idea how I could solve this problem? Thank you in advance

I have two issues. the first one i have seen it in another post but i didn't see some kind of a solution. I have the latest drivers in my inspiron 7559 and i have this issues:
1)  My laptop fans are awake long time after i quit any game. Especially GPU demanding games.  If i press the sleep button and i wake it up again fans doesn't awake up again. This is a strange issue. i have the 1.1.7 BIOS version.
2) My laptop for some reason is getting freeze at any situation. Last 2 weeks happened 3 times. One time happened in youtube and the other 2 in EDGE browser, and i couldnt move nothing. Neither the cursor.
I dont have any other problems with my laptop. All seems to be fine. But i dont know with these issues  i start to think some negatives thoughts...,
Any help please?

After the Windows 10 Anniversary Update was installed on my Windows 10 Pro, .RDP files won't open. Remote Desktop still works if you open it manually and enter in the server info. But my saved .RDP files won't open. Also, right clicking on them and selecting edit also does not work. Nothing happens. I even opened Remote Desktop connection, entered in the server info manually and clicked Save As. That shortcut also won't work. Any ideas on what's wrong? Thanks.

I bought the laptop mentioned in the title, the Inspiron 17 7559, a little under 3 months ago for school as well as some gaming.  A couple days before I spoke with tech support the cpu fan (fan on left side if you're looking at the top of the laptop and are in front of it) began making a horrible grinding/squealing noise.A little background: before going to school, I spent a decade as field technician on both military advanced electronic systems and production-class robotics systems.  So I opened the back panel just to glance at the fan, see if maybe there was a glaring physical abnormalities, as  the fan was clearly grinding on something and when it kicked into high would be scraping fast and hard enough to produce this noise.
I open the back cover, a screw falls out from its happy little home (which is, needless to say, both Not A Good Thing and Ominously Foreboding), followed by the shorn threading which had come from another screw.  Also, three or four  screws were VERY loose.  Which explained why the case had begun to separate near where the monitor pivots attach to the case.  Completely structural screws.  I tightened those up a bit, but didn't mess with any screws in the component housing area, as thos can have specific torque settings and such, and overtightening can do real damage.  As for the fan, its sitting a millimeter or so lower in its housing than the other, and even the slight spinning it did while I t... We're on 4G LTE/Verizon unlimited plan as our internet(only real option for us). Even tho it's "Unlimited' I guess now theyu are canceling acct's for going over 100GB per month, so I'm ultra paranoid now about exceeding this cap. I have 4 kids, and in total we have 9 pc's in our home, 8 of which run Win 10. With the recent anniversary update, it was going to be a 3+GB download for each of the Win10 pc's which would have been over 24+ GB of data just in windows updates. So I figured out how to put the updates on "hold" via metered connection. My question is if I download the win10 anniversary at work, and use the media creation tool, is that effectively a NEW OS being installed and keeping previous files similar to how computers updating from Win8.1 to 10? Is it possible to install onto a clean HD the Anniversary update using a Win10 key?

Also, in regards to future small weekly updates, I remember I could download Windows 7 and I believe 8.1 updates onto a usb stick and take them home to deploy. I haven't seen this with Win10 in my searches. Is it still possible to download these updates for Win10 to a memory device for multiple computer deployment?

I have a Dell inspiron 2320 64 bit all in one desktop. Originally with win7.

I downloaded the new win10 update two days ago. When the computer restarted to apply to new update, the icons and text were too large. When I went into settings to adjust the size, windows prompted me to sign out and sign back to adjust the size to back to normal. I clicked sign out.

When the sign in screen appeared, it instantly started flashing between a bright pink screen with the date and time, a picture of the beach, and the new win10 blue logo screen. In the middle of all these flashing screens was the facial recognition sign in program. Could not click on anything.

I had disabled the facial recognition when I first bought the desktop and I had assumed it was enabled during the update and was maybe causing issues. So, I did a forced restart, f2, and changed the admin password. I had hoped that this would disable the facial recognition and stop the flashing screens. Didn't work.

I tried running diagnostics through the f12 menu. Everything was ok but problem not fixed.

I called Microsoft. I was instructed to go into safe mode with networking but when I tried, I was given a bright blue error screen that stated my PC had encountered an error and would restart. Error listed as "bad_system_config_info"

Tried to restore the PC to the original win7 build but another error message stated the PC was unable to return the the previous build.

I noticed recently my taskbar, sound, and notifications not working after a while using Win 10 Anniversary Update. I installed latest drivers and also the latest Bios update but hasn't helped. I even created a Windows 10 media creation USB tool and did a fresh install. I also went to Dell site and created their Windows 10 install tool and performed the same clean install. Got the same issues with freezing. I'm glad I kept my desktop PC running Windows 7 or I would be rather mad right now. How in the world can one update mess up so much? This seems to be a major issue with PC's that received the Anniversary Update.

To uninstall the Anniversary Update:

Method 1: Using the Recovery Console

Restart your PC. When you get to the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key down while you selectPower > Restart.
After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options> Go back to the previous build.  If you don’t see this option, try Method 2.

Hello,

I just bought the new i5 7200U Inspiron 500 laptop with the Intel HD 620 GPU about three days ago.
It all worked fantastic until I opted to install the latest windows 10 anniversary update.
After that windows reports that my resolution is still 1080p, but application like google earth and photoshop report that my resolution is below the minimum required.
The quality of the text is not as good either, the resolution to me looks like it is 1024 x 768 or lower.

Does anyone have any idea why this has happened / Does anyone know a solution?

I have just done a clean install of Windows 10 on my Dell Inspiron 15R-7520 and the USB card reader was not working. When i checked Device Manager it showed a device listed as USB2.0-CRW was not installed. Windows was unable to find a suitable driver so i installed "Dell SupportAssist for PCs and Tablets" from http://www.dell.com/support/contents...support-center.
I then ran Dell SupportAssist and on its startup window/home page the Drivers and Downloads tile showed an update was available for Realtek USB Card Reader so i installed it and the USB card reader is now working.
NB. when you start Dell SupportAssist it does a scan of your system so you have to wait a minute or 2 before all items/info are available on its startup page.

I've tried to do with Windows 10 Anniversary update on my Inspiron 2350, but each time I try, it tells me it can't proceed because of a video error.  I've gone to the 2350 page and I've done all the driver updates there were to install but that didn't fix the problem.  Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

any help or explanation to a symptom like this ?
pushed power button then over night, the battery is completely drained, also no boot, repeatable.
shutdown the machine but no goes into sleep mode, the battery is safe without overnight drained issue, but still some leakage about 10% overnight. The battery report generation mechanism has wrong ? or really the PC hardware fault ? or Win10 bug ?!

Turn off Fast Startup. Under Windows 10, your computer does not totally shut down with Fast Startup on. It can actually be running processes when you think it is "shut down". If you leave it off AC power for any length of time, it can drain your battery. With Fast Startup off, your computer will boot slightly slower, but it should not make a big difference.
