Pavillion DV4 notebook SSD upgrade not working

Q: Pavillion DV4 notebook SSD upgrade not working

I have tried twice to upgrade my HP Pavillion DV4 notebook to a Samsung 840 Solid State Drive and the two times it only shows a "J" while trying to boot. The first time I used the Migrate OS to SSD option in Minitool Partition Wizard. The second time I used the copy disk option, with the same result. Has any1 been successful in upgrading to a SSD? if so, which application was used? TIA. Manny

Hi, Unfortunately the Nvidia chip is integrated and not an upgradeable component - this is the case for most consumer class notebooks. Regards, DP-K

I recently purchased a 4G upgrade for my Pavillion Sleekbook 15, which currently has one 4G module already installed. The memory was purchased from Crucial: CT4059590 Brand: CrucialForm Factor: SODIMMTotal Capacity: 4GBSpecs: DDR3L PC3L-12800 ? CL=11 ? Unbuffered ? NON-ECC ? DDR3L-1600 ? 1.35V ?Series: CrucialWhen I install the new module (side note: lots of disassembly for a memory upgrade!) and reassemble, the additional 4G is not recognized. I went in again and swapped the positions of the modules, and it still booted fine but only 4G is recognized. Are there any additional settings I need to change to recognize the memory? Is there anything else I may be doing wrong? Thanks.

I was working on the notebook one minute, then it just stopped.    I decided that it might need a new battery which I purchased from Amazon.  It arrived, I installed it, and it booted up.  I assumed it was fixed.  I turned it off and took it to a camera club meeting, tried turning it on, nothing.   So I ordered a new charger cord with Amazon.  It arrived a few days later, plugged it in and it worked,, again.  My Norton security needed upgrading, which took about 1/2 hour.  As soon as that was done, it stopped, again.  I went thru the suggestion of taking the battery out, waiting 10 minutes after unplugging charger, holding the power button for 45 seconds, etc.  Nothing.  Very frustrating! So far I have only spent under $35 for both the battery and charing cord.  I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Hi

4 weeks ago I bought the new HP Pavillion dv957ea notebook which has been giving me a nightmare of a time with numerous bugs. For example I have had to reinstall vista three times!

My problems now are:
1. The HEADPHONE SOCKETS do not work. Only the speakers work. Even when I put a working set of headphones which are the right size, I cannot hear anything through the hearphones. The speakers however keep working as normal, although they should switch off when the headphones are plugged in.
2. I cannot load SKYPE: it says 'skype.exe is not a valid win32 application'.
3. I cannot view ALL folders on windows explorer. For example I cannot see win32 folder. It seems 'sensitive' folders cannot be viewed. Is there a way round that?
4. I cannot print on a network printer. The network printer is hosted by a PC running on windows XP, but my laptop is on Vista. When I try to add a printer, it simply does not recognise the host computer's name. Before with my old PC running on XP I did not have this issue. Any way to fix this?

Many thanks for any help on the above.

Best wishes,

Florian
PS
By the way, I highly recommend NOT buying this laptop. Many problems have popped up for example one of the hard drives is already broken.

I am considering buying this laptop at "Office Depot" today. In your expert opinion, guys, is this a good laptop for basic needs? I just need it for a small business situation. I have Office 2003 software to load on it. A techy friend of mine said I may want more speed on the processor but for $949 w/ rebates I think it's a lot of bang for the buck! Please click on the site below and it should take you to their website with specs on it. Thanks in advance for your input!

Hi....I hope I'm in the right place. Please forgive my being so technologically "handicapped" and for this being such a long one. I'm trying to find out if I need to update my BIOS or not. All of this started because, for no apparent reason, my touch screen stopped working, sometimes dots come/go, popping up all over my screen beginning at startup while the internet, if I go there during this time, appears to take on a life of its own. This is because the mouse pointer does it's own thing, clicking where ever it wants.  Also during these "fits", the Windows icon in the taskbar on my desktop disappears and I have to just hold down on the power button to shut down. (Is that called a "hard reboot"?).Does any of this even pertain to my needing a BIOS update?According to the information I provided, "Software and driver results" from the HP Customer Support website indicated that there is a BIOS update," F.19 Rev.A"for my particular product and model number. According to my System Information, I currently have "Insyde F.18". When I checked on the HP Support Assistant that came with my notebook however, and it says I only need one update which is for the "HP Wireless Button Driver", whatever THAT is.I'm so confused about so much and I hope this makes sense to whomever can help me.  Thank you, in advance, for any advice you can give.Julie

Hi all, this is my first time here, so hopefully i will be able to be successful for what i am here

My problem is with my PC NOT having any SOUND at all!......
The sound symbol on the right hand corner of the screen has an X mark over it and when i move the mouse over it, it says "No audio output device is installed"
This is what i tried to fix from reading all the other similar posts on net .....
-I tried to restore my Pc to an Earliest point or b4 this problem occured and it didn't seem to fix the problem at all.
-I went to the HP software/hardware site to install the audio software and it didn't work either, once the installation was about to complete, it would display a message saying "Installation failed. no MEDIA device is installed for this driver.
- I also read people saying go to Device Manager and update the Audio, sound n so on thing, BUT there is no Such thing as audio, or such similar terms to click on and install/update it.
-so i decided to REFORMAT my PC, maybe that will fix it, I even reformatted the PC BUT STILL NO SOUND!!,
-so i tried to go back to the HP's website to install the audio software and it gave the same message again!

I recently spend alot of money trying to get the fan fixed and new battery, now i dont wanna end spending more on this sound (......I am hoping someone would really help me out and i really appretiate it .........thanks a bunch in advance

I could use some help. I'm running out of warranty and this problem is starting to get worse... maybe unbearable.

I own a HP Pavilion dv2845se. According to my temperature reading program, my cores idle around 55C and typically run at 78-80C unless there is a video playing or a game to which the temp jumps up to around 90C. 95C is the damage point on my AMD processors, so I get a little worried. Needless to say the GPU is always really hot around 80C or higher. Of course the program isn't getting the most accurate readings most likely. but they should be good approximations. I guess I forgot to type the GFX card.... It is a Nvidia MCP67M according to the device manager, but according to the HP specs its a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M. It was purchased about a year ago... so may-june 2008.

I have Windows Vista x64 as my OS so it makes using fan programs really hard since they don't have the signed drivers. So I was looking for a way to just turn on the fans on high all the time. I would really like it to be able to be tied to whether or not I'm plugged in, but that may not be possible. There has to be a way to access the fans; anyway through linux/unbuntu maybe?

I haven't been able to take apart the laptop to possibly clean out the fans. There is a ton of warranty stickers in the way, and the bottom doesn't just pop off easily.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,I was recently given a pavillion dv9821ea laptop which was in bad shape after being infected with a virus. I eventually had to replace the hard drive and at the same time I upgraded the operating system to windows 7 PRO 64bit. I was unable to save nothing from the origonal hard drive, no drivers, HP software etc and since I installed Windows 7, the laptop seems to have several problems including not downloading Windows updates. I connect it to the HP assistant, but this recognises the laptop and only gives me the choice of Windows Vista as the operating system for which to support drivers etc. I wonder if you could help me by letting me know if there is anywhere I can download Windows 7 pro 64bit drivers for this laptop? my wife and I are both disabled and it would make a great difference to me if I could have full use of this laptop. Regards. Gerald

This is a family member's computer and she asked me to help her fix it. It will only stay booted in Safe Mode. When I start the computer, it boots up, stays booted for a few mintues, then the screen goes black and it reboots. This keeps happening unless it is booted in Safe Mode.

History:
Purchased with Vista; I clean installed Windows 7 Home Premium (I know it's legit, bought it for her myself) when Windows 7 first came out.
When I turned it on, it rebooted so I started it in Safe mode and have tried/found the following problems:
? It had 4 adware programs and one trojan horse; removed those with Malwarebytes. Rescanned with Malwarebytes and MS Security Essentials, came out clean
? Device manager showed two problems - bad drivers for co-processor and bad drivers for Graphics card. installed those drivers and the Device Manager did not show anything wrong. Problem keeps happening.
? Opened BIOS and ran both Hard Drive and Memory Diagnostics; no problems found, Did not make any BIOS changes (I have little experience with BIOS)
? Ran diagnostics with Windows 7 disk; including Repair, Memory Diagnostics; no problems found
? Graphics card is NVIDIA GeFroce 7150M/nforce 630M; reinstalled drivers, didn't help anything
? When the screen saver goes on, there is an error message, "The screen saver can't run because it requires a newer video card or one that's compatable with Direct 3D".

This is an old computer, well out of warranty.

Extremely frustrated I've looked and tried to find a solution to no avail. When the notebook boots up, it gets to the login screen, I wouldn't be able to do anything at that point but I can log in because I have a fingerprint scanner, from there I'm 100% dead in the water. The only way to shut down is to hold down the power button. While the computer is in bootup, I have touchpad/keyboard function, I can escape to boot options, BIOS, repair, etc. and have normal functionality while there but not in safe mode. I have ran SFC with commands several times, chkdsk with commands several times, nothing changes. SFC says it found problems but was not able to fix all of them and the last chkdsk found nothing wrong.

Here are the events leading up to:
* had disk errors and bad sectors in old hard drive (could not repair)
* cloned old hard drive to new hard drive (there were errors but the new hard drive booted and worked for the most part correctly)
* in the process of trying to fix missing setup files for applications and other miscellaneous small issues, I ran troubleshooting, updates, chkdsk, sfc, etc. removed various applications, and added a few, nothing worked. I installed Revo uninstaller to remove Kaspersky Internet Security as it is THE MOST stubborn application to remove I've ever experienced. The reason I mention that is because I went through my computer trying to find the leftover files even after Revo because Kaspersky was still running after re-installing it and uninsta... Read more

A:Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook

If you have (and should have) a USB keyboard and mouse connect them and see if they will work.
Since your file system was already corrupted you cloned the bad files to the new drive.
If the USB devices work you should do a Repair Install.
If that doesn't work do this: Using System Recovery, Factory Reset and Minimized Image Recovery Options HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx Entertainment Notebook PC | HP? Support
From this tut:
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

   Information
On newer models HP Recovery may offer a Minimized OS Recovery option when booting from F11, which retains only the OS, Recovery Manager, HP Support Asst, and HP Wireless LAN. This is as close to a clean reinstall as you can get without doing one yourself.
● If you clean reinstall only to C and leave all other partitions intact, F11 Recovery key should still work later if you need it.
● You can also Extract HP 3rd Party Software from RecovCD.
● Problems with volume control lighting and HP Quick Launch buttons have been dealt with here where you can also get further support.

Hello! This is my first post here, as this is my first issue with this computer. My microphones won't pick up any sound- this computer has two different ones, an integrated one and an outer one, and yet neither work. Troubleshooting only picks up whether they're enabled or not, and I've tried recording after enabling them and disabling them, restarting, etc. I've checked with Beats Audio and they're turned on there as well, and the drivers say they are up to date. Yet nothing is working, when I used to voice recognition test it wouldn't even pick up any outside audio. I should note that the webcam doesn't work as well, because when I bought it, it would disconnect the internal camera often, and when trying to fix it, someone uninstalled the driver or something - though at the time, audio still recorded just fine and I didn't need the webcam. IDT High Definition Audio CODECIntel(R) Display Audio If any other information is needed, please let me know! Hi, recently I purchased a Pavillion 15-bc018nl (X7H34EA#ABZ).I want to upgrade it with a secondary hard drive using the M.2 port (empty) but I was unable to find the right type of M.2 device (Sata or Pcie).According to the "HP Pavilion Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide" these are the possible configurations:  but still I have no clue of what kind of M.2 ssd should I buy...Is the internal M.2 port SATA or PCIe?I have heard also that in some cases the M.2 port is not enabled. So my question is: how can I know if the M.2 port is enabled and which M.2 SSD is compatible with it?  Thanks very much for the help!

A:Upgrade M.2 SSD to Pavillion 15-bc018nl

Compatibility is the easy part. From the Service Manual, p. 2 we see that both SATA and PCI-e M.2 drives are supported: Manual Whether the M.2 will work is a guessing game. There is a very long thread here about some of the issues and I don't know if yours is one of the problem models. If you want us to see if your model is being mentioned as one of the ones with the disabled port we can, but the list does not seem to be static.

I tried another sata 3 drive and that also runs as sata 2 so I'm obviously missing something. Does anyone know how I can enable sata iii for this model?

It's that i7 first generation machine and is very finicky about memory. It will take 8 gigs but the proper memory is actually DDR3-1066 also known as PC3-8500.  Memory modules, PC3, 1066-MHz FSB ? 4096-MB 579156-001 http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-2x4GB-DDR3-Laptop-Memory/dp/B001UNI80A/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1464004... If this is the memory you installed: http://www.macmall.com/p/Kingston-DIMM-Memory/product~dpno~13790966~pdp.baadcedd It is high density 4 black blocks per side and there is all kind of documentation of issues with it on your model series.  The memory must have 8 black blocks per side (low density) to play nice with the HP.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I want to upgrade from a HDD to a SSD, is it possible with my notebook and if so which SSD's would be compatible? Is there any read / write speed limitations to consider etc?  here's the link for the my notebooks product specifications I have searched google using many different phrases but haven't been able get any confirmation for this, the best I found was a manual under user guides for the g6-2006ax on the HP website, HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide  that labels the HDD bay a "solid-state drive (SSD)/hard drive bay" (page 25)  but when i continue to read on it only lists various Intel CPU's (page 31)  while my notebook has an AMD A6-4400M CPU, when i read further down the list to the hard drives it list only various HDD's with no mention of SSD's (page 32)  through out the whole .PDF except in the labeling of the HDD bay so this has left me very unsure and confused. If someone could shed some light on this for me it would be greatly appreciated

A:SSD upgrade for Pavillion g6-2006ax

Here is the actual Manual for your laptop: Manual  Just ignore the memory replacement here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYbeBffNjyg You can just replace the mechanical hard drive with a 2.5 inch wide and 7 or 9.5 mm thick laptop SATA SSD. Don't worry about transfer speeds. The newest, fastest ones will downclock to your SATA bus max speed. It will still be lightning fast compared to what you have. Best SSD on the market is a Samsung 850 Evo. It is what I have in my own laptop.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4P02T78963&cm_re=850_evo-_-20-147-373-_-Product You don't need to worry about BIOS settings or anything else. Just treat the SSD as a hard drive. If you get a large enough SSD we can help you just clone the old drive to the SSD or we can walk you through any of several ways to get an operating system, drivers and programs onto the SSD.  if this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

HP Pavillion 8485Z.

I've tried a couple of different things here.

When upgrading from a plain disk (no OS) or when booting from the XP upgrade CD (with or without OS). The application loads some stuff and then proclaims "Setup is starting windows" and there it sits forever.

When launching it from the system with Win98 installed, it tells me that the CD is for upgrade only (in spite of what the written instructions say) and that it can't install because it can't find C:\Windows\WINNT32\Win9xUPG\W95UPG.DLL. Never mind that Win98 doesn't have a WINNT directory.

So what's the next step? Do I create this directory and attempt to find the DLL and copy it to it?

Hello.I would like to upgrade CPU in my Pavillion DV6 1330 ec. Is it possible to change my Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 with Intel Core 2 Duo T9900, Intel Core 2 Extreme X9100 or maybe Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 (quad core) ? Do I have to change cooling system or stock one is sufficient?  My current configuration:CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2,53GHzRAM: 2x2GB DDR3GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GBHDD: Samsung EVO 850 SSDWindows 10 64bit Thanks in advance for answers.

A:Pavillion DV6 1330 ec CPU upgrade

Here is the Service manual:  Manual Intel® Core?2 Duo T9900 3.06-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz front side bus (FSB)Intel® Core?2 Duo T9800 2.93-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz front side bus (FSB)Intel Core2 Duo T9600 2.80-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB Those are your upgrade options and any of the above would be a major improvement. The T9800 and T9900 in particular are extremely strong. Equal to most 2d gen Core i5 processors in my opinion. The market knows that, however, and those processors tend to be hard to find and pricey. The T9600 is only a little less powerful and much more widely available and cheaper. The "X" model processors are a no-go.  let us know if you need more help.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I'll put it simply. When I bought my current PC I didn't intend to use it for gaming at all, so I just bought a basic off the shelf PC. I kind of always assumed I could just upgrade it myself later on if I really wanted to.

On a whim I decided to root out the old 6800 Ultra from my last computer and put in in my current PC which just runs integrated GeForce 9100. Figured even an out of date card is better then nothing right?

Turns out there's no where even to plug the damn thing into when I cracked open my PC

Now I'm not wildly tech savy, so maybe technology has just changed more then I realized and modern chip sets are just smaller then my Ultra. I googled around a bunch though and while I couldn't find much about my system in particular I did learn that there are HP packages out there that you can't really upgrade at all

So I was hoping someone who knows what they're talking about might be able to help me out here. Is my PC pretty much "what it is" or can I upgrade it in some way? Or did I just choose poorly when I bought this computer? (ugh, and to think I was going to build a PC from scratch, for the first time, before my last computer kind of exploded and I decided to just rush out and buy a shelf box so that's I'd have something on short notice)

A:Is it possible to upgrade the GPU on a HP Pavillion a6702f PC?

The specs show that it has a pci-e 16x slot for a video card.
Yes, technically it is possible however you have other issues to address;

1 Power supply. Big box systems like dell, hp, etc ship with a pw supply that is just enough to power the system as shipped. There is very little left for any upgrades that use more power ie video card.

2 Cooling. A gaming card is going to generate heat. You need to make sure your case has adequate cooling.

FWIW big box systems are not really upgradeable in any real sense. You can install more ram or maybe a larger hard drive however if you want to install a gaming card or more modern cpu, you are usually out of luck.

Here is the link to your specs. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...ry&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=ca&lang=en&product=3872323

I have just recieved my HP Pavillion 15t-bc000 in the mail today. I have an old DV6 that died and it has extra RAM that I put in it that I want to put into my new Pavillion. However, I have no idea how to do it. My old DV6 has a panel on the bottom that you can unscrew in order to easily access the RAM, wireless card, and hard drive. My new 15t-bc000 does not seem to have such a cover on the bottom. In fact, there isn't any cover on the bottom at all. It appears that I have to somehow revove the entire bottom shell just to get to the RAM or to remove the battery if I ever had to do so, but I'm not sure if that's even possible. Can I not put in more RAM into my new computer?

A:HP pavillion 15t-bc000 RAM upgrade

Hi, The first thing to consider is that the hardware change may affect the warranty on your new laptop, the second is that 15t-bc000 uses specified memory is not compatible with the dv6 laptop RAM. Manualhttp://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05117922

I recently purchased a new HDD, a WD EZEX Sata3 to install in my HP Pavillion m9162 but drivers are dated around 2006 and it's got Core 2 Quad CPU with Vista32bit Home Premium. Will it support this HDD? Or should I try installing Win 7 onto my current drive or should I get an alternative HDD?

Can it be achieved? When I tried to load my copy of Windows 7 with sp1 OEM onto the WD it gave me the following msg: Windows Setup could not configure Windows on this computers hardware.

I've gotten overly confused with various solutions to get Win7 to load and in the end have held off doing anything until I'm absolutely certain. My current HDD is RAID Seagate Barracuda with Sata RAID Controller and has been frequently showing blue/black screens leading me to believe it's struggling.

Any advice in clear easy to understand older laywoman's language welcomed heartily. I mostly use my Tosh lappie but would like to keep this desktop running if I can.

Was updating the software on my HP Pavillion dv6000 limited use laptop and found that there was a BIOS update available for it.  Since the current BIOS version on the laptop was F.22 and HP had BIOS version F.5A available since October 2014, I decided to download and update.  The BIOS update utility ran to completion without errors, starting at block 16 traversing backwards to block 1.  Once, complete it justdown the laptop.  But when I powered up the laptop, all lights illumination, the screen stays dark, no disk activity and no more laptop. Just a big paper weight now.  Any one have any Idea on how to revert the BIOS back, or just I just consider that I just lost a good working laptop?

I'm using a TASCAM external USB connected audio interface to connect guitars, mics, etc, to my Pavillion 500 for recording purposes. The USB connection provides line-in to the PC (and my DAW software), and allows simultaneous line-out for playback and monitoring - my speakers are connected to the TASCAM interface, not the speaker outputs from the PC. This process worked well using the standard installed integrated CODECs that came with the PC. However, the CODECs on the PC are proving to be "underpowered" and can't support the recording software I'm using, without causing latency/delay problems. So I've recently upgraded the PC by installing a Soundblaster PCIE soundcard - however, now the USB audio connections to the external interface are not recognised and line-in and line-out connections can only be achieved by using the jack plugs on the new sound card - which works, but is not what I'm after. Is there anything I can do to get the USB connection to the "soundcard" back - is this a configuration issue, a PC issue or a Soundcard issue ? Any ideas?

A:Pavillion 500 upgrade to sound card

Hi @bassman,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! From your description your issue is related to linking connecting to the Soundblaster audio card you installed using a USB interface to your TASCAM device. I am happy to help you with this. In answer to your question, I would advise you try the support forums both for your new Soundblaster card and probably your TASCAM device as well to see if there is some specific configuration required to link the two. TASCAM Support  - tascam.com/supportCREATIVE Worldwide Support - support.creative.com I hope that helps, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Hi, I tried to upgrade my Pavillion Desktop a67744uk from Windows Vista to Windows10 and got the orange and white screen of death after startup. The Win10 install did not even start - it just stopped with the cursor blinking on the screen. I contacted Microsoft and they stated that this HP model cannot be upgraded to Windows10 because HP have not released the correct drivers. Can anyone confirm whether this is correct? I am running with 8Gb memory (upgraded from 4Gb) and have upgraded the original disk to solid state so the desktop is running Vista (64-bit) very well and it is fast. However the applications are no longer supported and I need to upgrade to Windows10. Any advice on what to do? Thanks, Stephen

Hi all.  I've been cleaning and updating my granddaughter's desktop PC.  This model uses an Asus P5BW-LA rev 1.05 MB (HP/Compaq name: Buckeye-GL8E), an Intel E6300 CPU with 4x1GB of PC2-6400 RAM and is running a 64-bit Windows 10 Pro installation. I thought I would upgrade the CPU while I was at it and bought a used E6700 which is part of the same Intel product line with all the same specs, except for the clock speed being faster.  The rated FSB on both chips is 1066 and HP's documentations says it should work: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00748726 However -- there's always a however isn't there -- the E6700 won't boot into BIOS.  No beep codes or any other indication, just never brings up the boot screen.  I've reset CMOS, tried faster RAM and tried slower RAM but none of those things make any difference.  I checked to see if there was a later/updated BIOS but it appears there was only ever one produced, v3.17, and that's what is currently installed. Does anyone know if there is some technical limitation -- like CPU model being hard coded in BIOS or some such thing -- that keeps this from working or have I likely purchased a bad cpu chip? Thanks in advance for your help. HowardResmond, WA

Hey guys,

I somehow got roped into doing a CPU upgrade for my dad's Hp Pavilion a6719f desktop. I looked up the specs here and was told that my MoBo was a Pegatron M2N78-LA model that could support up to an AMD Phenom X4 9850 Quad Core. So I purchased exactly that, part number HD9850XAJ4BGH.

Got it in today and dropped it into the MoBo expecting that to be it, but no go. Booting up gave me an black screen that says "Error: Unsupported CPU Installed" followed by a shutdown.

So after some web searching I heard that TDP could be the issue but from what I gather I have the 125W TDP model of CPU and my MoBo can handle that as well? Next check I made was this forum that said I should update the BIOS. So I went here and downloaded and ran the update as per the instructions on that site.

The computer rebooted and I get nothing now, backlit screen and then a 2-short, 1-long beeping pattern that repeats 5 times followed up by 8 quick beeps in a row. Now looking here at HP beep codes, I'm told that both of those mean a video card issue.

So here's the kicker, I have no videocard installed aside from the already integrated video card on the MoBo. The only upgrades I have ever done to this was drop in a WiFi card and a secondary DVD drive.

If anyone can please help point me in the right direction on fixing this I would be very greatful. I've tried to put as much detail into this post as possible but please let me know if I left anything important out. Th... Read more

Has anyone got any instructions for sorting this out? the laptop I'm using is a HP Pavillion DV6-6b50sa which normally uses IDT Audio.

Installing audio drivers aren't my forte so if anyone could help then it'd be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

If anyone else has the same problem with IDT Audio - go to the 'SWSetup' folder (accessible from the C: drive), then 'Audio' then run IDT. It will ask you to restart - restart then when you log back on, sound will work through headphones too

First and most obvious is a driver issue. Please go into device manager and look to see if you webcam driver is installed and working
Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If y our driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

Product: L0T64UA#ABA Hello, I have had my Hp Pavilion 15 for a year and a half and I recently discovered a problem while watching Youtube.  I was viewing some music videos and my Function Keys along with the Volume and Brightness keys have stopped working.   I have barely touched settings.  I listen to a lot of music and work on some digital editing on the laptop and if you could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I upgraded to Windows 10 and the touchpad worked at first, but now has stopped completely. There is no light on, but the system diagnostics and device manager say it is working. Have checked that is not coinflicting with external mouse and the driver is up to date. Help!Mark

I uninstalled the driver and restarted the computer, this made the system re-install the driver (19.2.4) and now works!!! The wonders of technology.

Three days ago my wife's HP Pavillon computer just stopped working, it will not turn on at all. I made the obligatory call to HP support, spoke to at least three people who I could barely understand, gave each one all of my personal details, told each of them the same story and of course they all that it is out of warranty. I am going to replace the mother board;

SHould I use a different model number for enhanced operation?
Should I change the processor to a faster one?
Are there any other things that is should consider regarding my problem or the repair of the same?
also what about a replacement guide, will it come with the Mother board?

My operating system is WIndows XP home

Thanks

Hello.  I have a HP Pavillion 500-314.  It runs on Windows 10.  My audio was working fine until I was forced to reset the computer after my computer went into a "Preparing Automatic Repair" loop.  After I reset the computer, there was an "x" next to the little speaker icon in the lower right hand corner.  When I hover my mouse over the speaker icon, it says "No speakers or headphones are plugged in".  This is driving me crazy as the other posts regarding the IDT High Definition Audio have not worked.   I would greatly appreciate a speedy response.  Thank you for your time.-Shayna Ghram-Kaiser

A:IDT High Definition Audio not working (HP Pavillion 500-314)

Hi: Since I don't know what other posts you read regarding this matter, what works for most forum members is to install the W8.1 IDT audio driver from your PC's support and driver page. This package provides the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio for supported desktop models that are running a supported operating system. - Provides the audio driver release for supported desktop models and operating systems. File name: sp65946.exe If you have already done that and it didn't resolve the problem, unfortunately I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

My hard disk stopped working after making some abnormal sound while i was working in my laptop. Lateron it was found that the motor of the hard disk was disturbing. Can i replace that motor because i want to recover my all important datas within that hard disk. Please suggest some solution.

A:My HP PAVILLION D5 hard disk motor not working

craj4u Sorry, NO -- you can not replace the motor in a hard drive. While you COULD have that done at a commercial drive repair facility, prices will start around $1000 USD! I know because I had a drive fail a while back and that's the cheapest price I could find. The drive has to be disassembled in a clean-room environment -- and those cost a lot to maintain. You would need to replace the drive, and if it will not spin up anymore, then sorry, there is no way to recover data from the drive other than using the commercial drive repair facilities. Good Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on my post to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================================================================

Hi, I own a hp pavillion dv6 7050ca notebook and the touchpad is working but the disable/enable function on the top left corner, gestures, etc is not... The only way to get the functions working is to go to the mouse settings and right when it pops up, the functions work...but right after I shutdown, restart, hibernate, the functions stop working again..my brother has the exact same laptop and doesn't have this problem..we have the same device version(snynaptics pointing device driver version 8.1) and I also checked my msconfig to make sure synaptics is enabled on both startup and services..pls help me! Keep in mind the touchpad still works..just not the gestures and disable/enable square on top left corner of touchpad. And I also tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver but still no luck..any help will be very much appreciated!

I have just opened the box on my new HP Pavillion X2. Windows 10 has set up successfully. When I try to open Microsoft Mobile Word and Excel (that come bundled) they crash after opening for a couple of seconds. The applications fire up and then just shut down! I bought this for an urgent business trip so need to get these apps working asap.

I have checked the forums and was unable to find a viable solution for my model and operating system (most posts are from 2013 and before). I got my laptop as Windows 8.1 and the light worked fine. I did the free upgrade to WIndows 10 and the Mute light stopped working.  Since then I have reformated my system to be Full windows 10 (not an upgraded) and still do not have the mute light.  I have tried upgrading my HD Audio drivers (AMD) and still no go.  Any ideas? Here is my system info: Product name:HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PCProduct number:G6R25UA#ABLBIOS:F.43-08/19/2015Keyboard revision:90.41Total memory:8.00 GBProcessor name:AMD A10-5745M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics Regards,Matthew

Hi,

I am servicing a HP dv1300 laptop and a portion of the keyboard produces nothing. I have tried many things but can't understand why the keyboard dose not work as a basic BIOS standard unless its a mainboard problem.

That was my conclusion.......I would like to be wrong about that.

The Laptop was purchased in the US.

Can't do much with it without the keyboard and I have tried an external keyboard........same result......I have dissconnected and reconnected the keyboard to no avail.

Any tips on this.........Thank you

Hello,

New to the Tech forum boards but I am having a problem with my HP Pavillion dv6t. The hard drive went bad so I installed a new Seagate 1TB internal hard drive in the notebook. Starts up fine and then it says that "No bootable device found"---insert disk press any key. The disc is in the cd rom, I went into the BIOS enabled the CD/ROM boot option. I also went into the Boot option menu and tried selecting the internal cd/dvd rom drive option and I went into the actual boot order screen and adjusted the boot order so it read the cd-rom drive first then the hard drive. I also am using the HP Application and Driver recovery DVD. I am not sure if the disc is bad or cd drive is bad. The other thought is that because it is a brand new hard drive there is no information on it for the drivers so maybe the computer is not processing the information. If anyone has knowledge of this issue or any ideas that can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank You

I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit in my laptop. I also installed Digita persona fingerprint software along with other drivers and software. No error message is shown. Just a window is coming with a blue bar showing it is being installed. That's it. I can also see it as installed in the control panel. But nothing more happens. The fingerprint reader is not detecting fingerprint. What can be the reason for this problem and how can I solve this?
