Recently while using the internet my computer experienced a BSOD which listed the Critical Process Died as the error. Before this happened my computer kept popping up with a message I believe was saying that the display adapter driver crashed and then was recovered. It should also be mentioned that I recently upgraded my system with a new graphics card, after my old one died, and with a new case. That was my first time ever doing something like that, so I wouldn't be surprised if that could be a problem.

Hi Guys/Girls
Please could someone help me, I am having trouble on Win10 with my 3G Modem & the Mobile Partner Software (all versions). When I start Win 10 everything works perfectly, but when I start Mobile Partner (any version) my pc becomes slower and sometimes it doesn't pick up the modem.. other times when I connect it shows I am connected but in the notification area it shows "no internet connection". It also just disconnects for no reason when I am connected. Then .. to top it all off at times - about 3 times a day it crashes and shows the error Critical Process Died Error . This is extremely frustrating and I never had this issue on Win 7. I contacted Huawei/Mobile Partner and they sent met a version of Mobile Partner for Win 10... but I face the same issues with it. Is there any ideas on how to fix this issue?
Please Please ... I am so frustrated.

Hey, I've never actually asked my own question on one of these forums before, but this is becoming a problem that really needs fixing.

I've been able to fix adware problems on my friends', family's and my own computers before with Adwcleaner and it has always worked quite successfully, until I got a Windows 10 computer. Now when I try and run the 'Clean' function, I get the blue screen of death with the words 'Critical Process Died Error', and I haven't found a way to get around it.

Could anyone please help me - is it just an incompatibility with Adwcleaner and Windows 10 or is there a way to fix this?

A:Adwcleaner not working on Windows 10 - Critical Process Died Error

The Adwcleaner works with my Windows 10 you need to install latest version of device drivers.Install all important Windows updates.Update your programs.Open Command Prompt as a administrator and type Sfc /Scannow to repair any damage Windows system files. You can ask help at Windows Crashes, BSOD, and Hangs Help and Support forum.

I just bought a Lenovo Flex 14" and have been getting BSODs out of nowhere, usually after a while of surfing the net.

I thought the ram is flawed so I went back to the store for a new ram and the BSOD problem halted for a week but now it's coming back again.

I have attached the dump log using SR. Hope to get some help here soon! Thank you!

Desktop PC was previously my W8.1 computer.
I had backed up all my data as at 31 Dec 2015 in preparation to upgrade to W10.
I had 3 separate 2TB hard drives in this PC with backups to internal second and third drives.
All three hard drives were partitioned into two 1TB partitions.
All three 2TB hard drives are Samsung HD204UI 2TB models (now all out of warranty period)
This Deshtop PC was then updated to W10 on 4 Jan 2016 (after creating a new restore date in W8.1).
Luckily I also backed up to separate external hard drives.
Now a W10 Desktop PC it died during Critical Update 18 Jan 2016 for "unspecified" error. W10 desktop PC just stopped during this update with following problems;
1. no BSoD - just totally blank dark screen.
2. unable to switch off, or reset or power off via PC.
3. had to turn off power supply after 6 hours (of hoping something will happen).
4. unable to restart PC - BIOS loads - then W10 logo appears (Flashes on) - then PC just hangs. At least it now resets to restart.
5. unable to start into safe mode. or any other variations of safe mode.
6. After some 10+ restarts attempts - now get option to restore to an earlier date - my last W10 restore date was 15 Jan 2016.
7. Restore failed for 15 Jan 2015 due to "unspecified error". Tried again 3 times with same result.
8. Restore failed for same reason on several earlier restore dates ( I make a new one each fortnight).

This desktop came with Windows 7 originally. Then upgraded to Windows 10. Has been working with Windows 10. My friend told me that he saw a message about a driver recently. How can I get this PC to boot? Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

Hello people,

I sure hope someone can help me, because I've spent days on this and I'm very frustrated. I have done lots of searching, and it seems like others with this problem have not found answers either. Or maybe I'm a bad searcher, which I'm not ruling out. My Toshiba laptop with Windows 8 won't run unless it's in Safe Mode. I don't know exactly how or when it started, but it completely freezes shortly after boot. Exactly when it freezes varies, but it's usually within the first 5 minutes. And by freezing, I mean it's 100% nonfunctional. The only way to shut down is by removing the battery, so now I just keep it out.

At this point I won't list all the things I've tried, or tell you all about my computer and OS. I will be more than happy to find any information you may need to help solve this riddle. For now though, I'd like to just tell you the error codes that have come up, with the hope that someone is familiar wit... Read more

Hello.

I bought this laptop 2 days ago, it also came with Windows 8, and yesterday I was thinking about installing Windows 7 or 8, I ended up installing Windows 8, eventhough I don't like it, I installed a bunch of those programs that make it look like Windows 7, and everything was fine, I installed a bunch more software from my old computer and I was just downloading a couple games over-night so I could test how good it really is during today, there was no problem yesterday, at all, and I made it auto-shutdown when the downloads were completed.

Today I start the computer and it starts scanning the disk, I'm like: "Brand new laptop, should be fine", nope, stopped at like 10% (not sure) and restarted, when it restarted it went into this blue screen with a "" and saying something like this: "Look for help with this report: "Critical Process Died"".

I researched on the problem and looks like no one is sure about it, some say it's a HD problem, and others say it's something to do with Avast! (which I did install).

One thing is for sure, I won't be keeping Windows 8 after this ._. .

Thanks.

So I went to the store couple hours ago, and they have no clue of what caused it, the guy there said that the HD was "probably" corrupted, now I still have no idea of what caused it, so if anyone has any info on this I'd really appreciate it so I can avoid it and not have to go to the store every couple of days...

Hello guys, I have an Alienware x51 and it's been working great for me for ages until I tried to start it up last week. I got a blue screen and an error cod 2000-0511 and a message saying critical process has died. So I had a quick look online and someone suggested doing "eSPA" and seeing what devices fail. After doing this I've found that my Sys fan is not rotating and fails. But upon inspecting my x51 it doesn't seem to have one. I did get this PC second hand but it's been working absolutely fine for a year when I got it. Anyone got any suggestions or tips on what I should do it would be really helpful.

Cheers Luke.

The download seemed to be OK and then I started to get the first page, then log in page and then a Critical Process Died, we need to collect information then we will restart page. It goes to 100% then restarts and the whole process starts again. I cannot get the start button and the Mobo is UEFI.
I don't know what the critical process is. I have tried to reinstall Win 7 with no luck. I have been to several other forums and this seems to be a big problem.
Anybody know what to do? MS is not a good source, one person recorded a call from an MS tech who wanted money to fix the problem...like extortion...

Hi Guys

I need help. As computers go I am 7 out of 10 a far as knowledge goes so not completely dumb. However, in the last week my computer as far as I am aware has not done any updating apart fro Kaspersky updates. I run windows 8 and for some reason I have had this message Critical process Died and my desktop has completely changed. When windows tries to boot it takes for ever, then once logged in I get 'preparing windows' When I eventually get to a screen it says I am logged in only with a temporary profile and anything I add will be lost when I turn it of. My desktop is totally different?? Its totally useless as it is, I have tried to boot with boot disk nothing happens, I have tried to update windows updates, many drivers all are up to date, I thus think its not HD corruption as I can see files, I can surf etc..once its up and running. so not hardware is it? Any ideas what I can try?

If you want log files please explain what you need and how and I will try and get them to you asap.

Again thanks in advance for any help

A:Critical Process Died

For starters:

At work we start all repairs with a set of diagnostics. Often they find problems that weren't even expected. It's a waste of time to try to fix software on a system that has hardware problems.
Please try these free diagnostics for starters: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
Also, please ensure that you have ALL available Windows Updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Be sure that you run the malware scans in case something has slipped by your Kaspersky.
Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

Today it happened. Restarted socinho and then appeared some BSOD's windows before getting up correctly.

I've tried passing the SFC / SCANNOW, but did not solve the problem.

My computer has been running very slowly these last few days. A minute or so after startup, it becomes slow to respond to commands, programs such as Photoshop are a drag to use, and games (that I could naturally run just fine) show significant stuttering.
Task Manager shows an increasing consumption of memory when idle. It starts at around 1.3 GB (which is fine), and doesn't stop growing until it reaches about 2.30 GB within a few minutes. Cached memory wavers between about 1780 MB -1980 MB.
I am using Windows 7 64-bit on an Intel Core 2 Duo E7300. 4GB RAM. My HDD is split into two drives, C: and D:, with 58/232 GB and 61/232 GB free space respectively. I will give more info on my specs if necessary.
I have used CCleaner to clean out junk and the registry. Running a Malwarebytes scan shows no positives. I don't know what to do next. Has my computer gotten that old overnight?

Hello Everyone!

Recently, my computer started freezing up at startup. It BSODs with the error in the title before making it to the login screen. Up to this point, I have run chkdsk /r /x which took two days and reported no errors and have attempted to run SFC /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=e:\windows\ which gave me the "windows resource protection could not start the repair service". I don't know how to get the scan to work and have already tried to manually start the trustedinstaller service.

Okay so I was using IMVU, Firefox, skype and Utorrent and all of a sudden my Firefox became unresponsive, and a few seconds later I was greeted with the BSOD with the error "Critical Process Died". It had happened earlier in the day as well right after I logged into my PC, so obviously this alerted me, especially because it wasnt even 5 hours after the first time it happened (though I generally consider two BSODs in one day to be alarming.) I looked up the error, even though this isnt the first time Ive encountered it but it happens at least once every 3-4months, sometimes I go longer than that though. Well anyway, I looked it up and someone suggested to boot into safe mode with command prompt and use the command "sfc /scannow" so I did and when it was done it told me that there were some corrupt files and that it couldnt fix all of them. Im wondering as to why that is and also wanted someone to analyze my CBS log because I have pretty much no clue what its saying.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

Uninstall Daemon ToolsDownload the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
Double click the executable to open itClick on the button shown below

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

Troubleshooting a counterfeit installation is useless as it is not known what has been modified to your system.
A counterfeit installation contains heavily modified code which causes the system to behave in unexpected ways.
For this reason, analyzing counterfeit systems is unreliable and most analysts won't try it.
I recommend to install a genuine copy of Windows.
If, after you have installed a genuine copy of Windows, you still get BSOD's we'll be happy to assist you.

According to the video, it seems to BSOD when the Windows is loading up the files. Did you make the Windows 8 BOOTABLE so that it could be recognized correctly?

As soon as the computer starts up, start pressing F8 real fast so that you get the option of Safe mode. What options do you get there? Do you see an option of "Last Known Good Configuration"? If so, then see if you are able to use that option.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hi, I've been wrestling with this problem for last 2 days and I don't seem to be able to find an answer anywhere hence I'm posting here. Firstly, I can't generate the dumpfile as I can't access windows at all. I can't access it through any boot options including safe mode. The windows either gives BSOD after the logo and white circles going around a few times or recovery environment.I've recently upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 through the microsoft updater. The only major thing I did before this happened was installing the AMD CCC and rebooting, which caused this loop. I actually reinstalled it as switchable graphics wasn't working.Things I've tried - 1. Automatic Repair - doesn't work. txt file in srt folder says the OS version is not compatible even if I use the Windows 10 usb.2. chkdsk /f /r - it fixed a bunch of things, there seemed to be a lot of problems but now it says that there is no problems and no further action is required.3. Fixing and rewriting bcd files - This was the interesting part because my computer some how changed the C:\ to D:\ and created a new C:\. I've reassigned it so that original C:\ is renamed back to C:\ and removed the new C:\ partition which only had the boot files in it and reformed all the bcd files in original C:\4. I can't run sfc /scanow. It doesn't work with any commands I found over the internet.5. Other things I found were that if I tried to reset the computer while keeping the files, it doesn't allow me to do it.Also, I found out t... Read more

Hey guys I'm here because there is a really strange issue going on with my desktop. I've been encountering BSOD Critical_process_died twice in 2 days. What is making me scratch my head is that this issue occur when there is a loud humming noise in my tower/cpu (what ever you call it). Tried searching the source of the noise but it doesn't seem to be the cpu fan or the gpu fan. Also this loud humming noise happens randomly and when it does, my computer starts to hang/lags before the BSOD takes place. Besides that, after a couple of restarts the loud humming noise seems to disappear and the computer works fine again. I do hope someone can help me out or give any ideas as to why there is this strange humming noise and how to fix it.
Thanks!

In the last two weeks my laptop has started intermittently crashing with no clear pattern. I used SFC to replace a corrupted file from an .iso, but I'm still getting crashes and can't make sense of the error codes. I had a secondary HD die on me last month (it had been overheating and crashing the machine while it was running Windows 7), but that was replaced. The primary drive is a 120GB Intel SSD. If some of your could take a look at my .zip file of the dumps I'd appreciate it.NAEARLE-PC-Mon_01_11_2016_222455_85.zip

Hey, as who ever read this all ready know, I got a BSOD issue. I have a "critical process died" error whenever I start my computer. I have tried starting the computer in safe mode without any success and I have also tried to reinstall windows 10, but under the installation I get a massages saying somethinig went wrong, no changes was made and I will be kicked back. So as it is now, I have no idea what I am suppose to do. And I really dont wanna wipe my SSD to fix this if it is anotherway, cause I have some videos and pictures and some other personal stuff that I really wanna keep.
Another think that could be wurf saying is that I did do a windows 10 install some hours before this issue happend. I did the reinstall cause of a problem with a freezing. What happend was that the computer froze, and I just pressed the power button until the computer turned off. Then I started the computer as normal. When I came to my desktop starting to open programms, all the programs I open froze. I couldn't press the start button or anything. So I decided I should reinstall windows. And after the reinstall, everything semed fine. I starting to download my different programs from the web. And at the end, I installed my driver for my gpu. I restarted the pc, and there it was. The BSOS, aka "CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED" error. So if any of u have any idea what I can do to fix this, I will be more then happy!
Btw, if you need more information, just ask and I will fix it !

Do Not Change, leave the Windows Boot Manager as first device.

Boot the DVD from One Boot Menu in UEFI mode.

I only get the BSOD when playing games, not any specific game, but any, sometime i can go a whole week of playing games and have no BSOD at all, and somedays 5 minutes after a game is running it will BSOD everytime, all day long. When I try to Run any game like GW2 Or Inquisition my pc turns into Bluescreen with an error CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED or KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR ..I've already Updated all my drivers and reinstalled all my games, also run chkdsk /f and memtest with no problems.

This is the screen:

Also this is my dump config:
(note that i have windows 8.1, not 7)

Still it doesn't create any File or Folder and when the BSOD happens the blue screen say that its collecting info but it doesn't get off 0% .
It's the same with the critical process died it just goes to the blue screen saying its collecting info but it also doesn't get off 0%.

I'm completely baffled with what to do as the blue screen view hasn't picked up anything and i cant find the dump files.

Hello All

While attempting a system restore (back to a week ago) on 8.1 I've encountered a Critical Process Died

When I try to access System Restore in 'Advanced Options' or 'Refresh your PC' I need to enter my password... but receive a message "The password is incorrect. Try again."

The password I'm using IS correct.

Tried the obvious (caps lock, keyboard layout) and no go.

I'd really appreciate any advice on where to go from here...

Extra info:
- 8.1was installed via update... no disc.
- 'Restore' takes me to the logo screen (stuck there)
- 'Restart' in 'Advanced Options' loops back to the "Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC", with a choice of Shut Down or Advanced Options. Log file: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt
- Computer is an Acer Aspire V5-571P

A:Critical Process Died - won't accept password

Forgot to add... I'm definitely an administrator.

Hi all,

I've been having problems recently with my laptop (Samsung 7 series) freezing. I then get a pop up saying "windows has stopped working", and it either unfreeze after a few minutes or I need to force close it.

This happened again yesterday, and wouldn't unfreeze so I force turned it off. Upon restarting, I got a BSOD with the message "critical_process_died", and the laptop restarted itself, only to BSOD again. Now when I turn it on it goes straight into disk repair for C:, saying it is scanning for and repairing errors. However, even after running overnight it never progressed beyond 9% on this, and now I cannot exit the loop without force closing the laptop - but when I reboot it goes straight back into disk checking.

Obviously I have no clue what has caused this. A recent AVG scan was clean, and I cannot recall an update that happened yesterday. Unfortunately. Unfortunately I cannot load up the laptop to even check anything. Hopefully this is a software issue and I can get it fixed at a tech store, but I'm worried it could be a hardware problem (Internet suggested there was some memory corruption?). Any help would be very much appreciated, I'm a bit panicked about it as I rely on my laptop for all my work!

Thanks in advance..

Hi,

I recently bought a new computer (3 weeks ago). The specs are as follows:

PSU: Corsair RM850X 850W
CPU: i5 -6400
Motherboard: Asus B150M-C
Ram: Crucial DDR4 2133Mhz 16gb (2x8gb)
GPU: Zotac Geforce GTX 970 4GB
SSD: Corsair SSD Force Series LE 240GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
'OS: Windows 10 home

The bluescreen happens quite randomly (or seemingly so). I might be playing wow or browsing youtube..or just browsing email. However, the message is always the same "Critical process died".

So far I have tested the following:
- memtest86+ - 10 passes, no errors
- BurnInTest - no errors and no overheating
- Furmark - ran it for 15-20 mins until the GPU went to like 85C at which point I decided to back off.
- Heaven Benchmark - same as Furmark
- Corsair Toolbox and SSD Life - the SSD was reported as being healthy
- hot cpu tester - no errors found

I must admit..I am quite lost as to what can possibly be the problem here. I did some performance tests with Geekbench3 and UserBenchmark. Both of those tests went pretty well, and I didn't see any parts underperforming. Edit: oh and yes, all drivers are up to date, BIOS is up to date and windows is up to date.

I have attached the BSOD-related zip as per the BSOD-posting guide. Hope that one of you might be able to clue me in here.

Hi all

I recently installed a new ssd into my laptop and installed a fresh installation of windows 10 onto it. When it started up after the install and reached the screen where you setup a user and password the computer froze and I got the message "Critical Process Died". It then did its thing collecting info and restarted and I managed to get into windows. I thought it may have fixed it but then when I started to load up files and software I kept getting the error screen again.

Now I have done another fresh install on windows on the drive and the same thing happened, Right at the user setup screen the error message appeared again.

I have checked the ssd with sfc scannow but it didn't find any errors.

Could someone help me out as I need the laptop for work on Monday!

Thanks in advance

Greetings!

I tend to get a BSOD when working in visual studio, often when doing something requiring heavy processing but occasionally simple things. The BSOD simply says CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. In googling, it seems that might be a driver error. I tried running the verifydriver, following the directions of a windows post I found, which caused the computer to bluescreen before loading windows every time with a driver error that did not specify a specific driver that caused the problem. I'm hoping that will be somewhere in the minidump that should be within the attachment (created by following the posting directions). I was not able to figure out from the minidump what driver might specifically be the problem, if I'm even barking up the right tree about a driver issue in the first place. There doesn't appear to be any minidump from the critical process errors unfortunately.

I've tried to do all I could on my own by searching for processes and answers before posting here. Thanks for the help!!

Whenever I turn computer on, there's a blue screen that says stop code, and then critical process died. I tried restarting with safe mode, but it leads to the same thing. I tried it all, except for recovery media, which I have to order online. I'm not sure if I should get the recovery media. The problem is, my computer used to be Windows 8, until I ungraded it to Win 10. But the recovery media that I'm thinking of ordering is for Windows 8, but not Win 10. Will the Windows 8 recovery kit still work on my Win 10 upgraded desktop?

A:Endless stop code, critical process died

Hi, As the machine has been previously upgraded to 10, a hardware profile ( Digital Entitlement ) will have been recorded by the activation servers. As long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after the upgrade from 8.1, you can just create your own installation media and perform a clean installation as detailed in the guide on the following link.  Note: At the activation screen, select 'I don't have a Product key' - Windows will activate automatically once the installation has completed. http://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-clean-install-windows-10/ Regards, DP-K

Memtest came back good. No errors. Also thought I should mention temps are just fine, nothing going above 50C.

(I was running 8.1 before the reinstall) So randomly about a week ago my computer started to bsod out of nowhere saying Critical Prcoess died. Then I started getting Kernal data inpage error. I, of course, googled the issue and there seems to be no solid fix for them. After some fiddlig I seemed to make the bsods stop (could have been luck) and then I was only getting hard locks. No bsod, but everything, including the cursor, was frozen. No ctrl alt del could fix it, it was stuck and required a hard reset. Some thought it was registry errors, others thought it was hardware.

I think I have ruled out software after a reinstall, and still having the issue.

If anyone has any insight to this issue, any input would be great thanks! I've pretty much figured it's something hardware, but I just can't figure out what it is.

So this began happening about a week and a half ago when I was playing both Enter the Gungeon and Half-Life 2 (not at the same time). I would be playing as normal, then switch my weapon, and the last half-second of audio loops for a while and then my computer redirects me to the normal BSOD-thing. (This could very well be related to overheating, but I've already taken measures to reduce heating on my laptop). I've already looked through a few threads for help, but I'm not sure if any of them would have solved my problem. I'm really worried that this is a hardware issue, since I've only had this laptop for two years.

Things I've tried:
Running sfc/scannow (Which yielded corrupt files)Reinstalling windows (Which fixed ^that problem)Installing the latest BIOS and drivers from Dell's websiteRunning CCleanerLooking for bad .dll's or .exe's in BlueScreenView (hal.dll being fixed and ntoskrnl.exe staying around. Notify me if you'd like screenshots.)

Things I haven't tried:
Going through the troubleshooting process in Getting a "whea uncorrectable error" usually while playing games

Any help/advice/solutions would be greatly appreciated. If I've missed anything/need to add more information, please tell me.

Hello Tiss,

You have made a good start!

Please go through the tests you have not yet tried, they are very informative for the 0x124 errors. Take care to do them properly, memory needs testing for eight passes which could take up to 16 hours or more for your amount of memory. Make sure you monitor the core temperatures during the CPU and GPU stress tests and stop if they reach over 85?C. It is useful if you can post screen captures of any of the information you get.

I am trying to help fix a friends computer.  It is suffering from reoccurring BSOD "Critical Process Died"  The screen comes up often after the password is put in during booting up, and randomly while the computer is being used.  The screen pops up and says it is collecting information; although, I am not sure what, and then the computer shuts down and reboots.  I have not been able to fix this problem.

I ran the system file check, malware bytes that removed some malware off the computer, and cleared out temporary files.  I checked for updates, ran a virus check, looked in on the drivers, but didn't see any problems.  Anyway the problem is still present, so I haven't hit the right thing yet.  The computer had gotten wet while walking through the rain one time and it did have some kind of issue with the DVD drive.  Not so sure it isn't a hardware thing, but not positive on how to figure out the problem.  Any help will be appreciated.

We've had our share of BSOD's in the company, most of them were solved by installing the newest drivers from the support site. There are still some laptops however, that get frequent BSOD's (4 a day on average).
The laptop is a Dell E5550, newest drivers & bios update. I've run the command sfc /scannow; after the scan was completed, it showed that there were errors but none could be fixed. I copied the log, so if someone would be kind enough to take a look at it? I'd be much obliged.
Also I don't know if I can run the dism / restorehealth command, because we have our own image on the laptops, and I if I understand correctly this replaces the current image with a default Windows image? Or does it only extract the files needed to repair?

Hi Diirko,

Welcome to the 10forums

Please zip the log (right click > copy > zip) and upload the zip.
If the zip is too large, use a 3rd party uploader (dropbox, google drive, onedrive, etc) to upload the zip and post a link of the shared file here please.

First of all Hi to all me just joined this forum

from last few months I was having prob with my long ago installed windows 8 64 bit first RTM release I think

I was not using it as primary OS so I did not tried to repair it early so yesterday I bot that os up

the main prob is it sometimes bot as normal os and some time bot as windows workspace

I have no clue why it sometimes boot as windows workspace with that starting msg keep ur usb plugged in

so after few attempts i boot it with normal and tried to update windows 8.1 from windows 8 and it show shows you need to install all your update in windows update so I checked updated it was nearly 2GB with 111 IMP update and 1 optional graphic driver update (on board ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics )

and free space left on drive was nearly 3gb so I just run my computer whole night for let it be updated

after next day it won't booting up and stuck on "Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer" loop

after tried sometimes with safe boot

it turned on

after it startup I tried to run windows update troubleshooter and solved 6 prob with it

then I show to left space on drive it was 200 mb then analysed the disk and found winsxs was eating 20 gb space of 39 gb partition so I boot into mini xp via usb and deleted winsxs's all folder

now to have bsod of Critical process died

I found there is MEMORY.dmp file of 3.5 gb

and bluescreenview identify bsod

A:Deleted Winsxs folder now BSOD Critical process died

The Winsxs folder (called SidebySide) is the true container for all your system files.
The ones in the Windows 'System' folder are just hard links to the real files.

Perhaps DISM can restore all these files again - look over the tutorials.

Otherwise you probably need to refresh Windows.

I have a Windows 10 64 bit PC.

it was working fine few days ago.

i then Installed Wampserver latest edition, but before doing this it asked me to manually update ALL the Microsoft VC Redistributables.

I did all that.

i then had a program called Advanced System Care From IObit. It said it found some optimizations for my PC to speed up booting, hard drive read speed and few other things. I did all this and a registry clean using their software.

I restarted pc. Later i went to play music and found i had no sound. i had not touched the sound drivers. The Windows Audio service was still running, i even restarted it.

I then put pc to sleep. but then it wouldnt fully wake up. While waiting for it i got the first BSOD with a "Critical Process Died"

Next time i started i uninstalled audio drivers and installed original ones from manufacturers dvd. Didnt work. I then tried to update using driver software, it took ages to do then never worked. Then while browsing firefox, pc freezes and i get the same BSOD.

i then went into windows repair mode and used chkdsk /r c: to check c drive it found and fixed few errors.

Restarted and then i got the freezing and bsod again.

tried a few more things like sfc in repair mode cmd.

but then when trying to start it gives BSOD before windows even loads. it says different things unmountable boot volume.. other times something about kernel and bad config.

I used a program called HDD regenator to check the HD it found n... Read more

There doesn't sem to be any rhyme or reason to the BSOD. I could be simply surfing the web using Chrome and it will just shut down on me. After it reboots it boots to the BIOS settings instead of Windows 10. If I unplug the power and remove the battery for a second the next time I boot up it will boot to Windows as normal.

Any ideas?

I have an Envy Notebook purchased in May that shipped from HP with Windows 10 and two hard drives - a SSD C: drive with the OS and a standard hard drive for data. Current OS is Windows 10 Home V. 1511, OS Build 10586.589. The system worked perfectly until last month, when windows automatically attempted to update to the Anniversary Update. That update failed, and ever since the computer has been stuck in the following sequence: - Works perfectly for a period (including utilizing material on the data hard drive). The length of this period has generally increased after the sets of Windows updates released at the end of August and this past week - at present it can sometimes run for a full day before encountering any error.- Without obvious cause, desktop background goes black and the OS begins crashing. Start menu can be opened once, but nothing can be selected, taskbar does not work, shortcuts do not work, internet connection shuts off, Ctrl+Alt+Delete/Escape do not work (produce error messages), running programs remain on screen and responsive for a brief period, various errors messages for background programs (Onedrive, etc.) appear.- Eventually, a BSOD usually appears (if not, the machine is simply frozen and I have to hard reset). The only BSOD that has appeared is "Critical_Process_Died." The collecting information counter never progresses past zero, and the computer attempts to restart. - On the computers own attempt to restart, a black screen boot device ... Read more

I decided to clean install 14295 and now I'm getting random BSODs related to CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. Not even sure if the minidump is being saved since it never reaches 100% on the blue screen.

For what it's worth, I'm on an XPS 15 9550, and I was not getting any blue screens on the non-insider install of Win 10.

Hey everyone,

I've got a fairly fresh install of Windows 10 Pro that is giving me some trouble, on a Lenovo Thinkpad W540. I've been getting BSOD crashes that I have been so far unable to resolve. Lately they seem to be happening when the machine is idle and I'm not watching it, and have been becoming more frequent since a windows update the other day. I was getting Kmode Exception Not Handled (1E) at first, and after running the driver verifier, it was finding that IntelPCC.sys was misbehaving.

I uninstalled that driver (although not completely -- I found it had reinstalled this morning), and found my machine with a Critical Process Died (EF) BSOD when I got to work this morning. As far as I can tell from the logs, they say it's likely caused by ntkrnlmp.exe.

I began running into BSODs when I installed the Lenovo System Update application, and it would BSOD when I started trying to install updates and drivers. I've run Prime95 overnight a few times since then, and have been getting rounding errors after 8 or 9 hours on 1 or 2 out of 8 threads on stock clocks, although a few runs of 10+ Intel Burn Tests have yielded accurate results on extreme.

At this point, I'm really not sure if I'm dealing with a memory issue, or a driver issue, or some other hardware failure. I have uploaded my logs in the hopes that someone here can provide some insight into what might be happening.

Thanks!

I was surfing the net with Firefox just after an update. When suddenly my laptop restarted and started a Startup Repair. I let it run but it still repeated so i tried to do a system restore, but that didn't work either, I even tried to run sfc /scannow which told me to restart my computer. About a year ago I installed a cyber sitter called "iProtectyou" on my son's computer. I decided to uninstall it for him recently because it didn't work, and it only seemed to give him a hassle when he tried to use the internet or play games. When I tried to reinstall it, it would not take the password I used (I could of forgotten it, but I had it written down).

After hours of trying to uninstall it, I went to the internet and Googled how to get rid of cyber sitter's with a forgotten password. Luckily there were several people with the same problem. I downloaded the applications they gave out on the site, and eventually got rid of it. They also had me go to the "Registry Editor" (run: regedit) and screw around in there. The program still shows up in "Programs and Features" but theirs no publisher now, and I still cannot install it. Except now, instead of asking for a password, it just says that their was an error with database.

Now when ever we open up anything, we are swarmed with windows telling us "Crictical Error Occured While Opening Database."

Any help would be great.

I have also run a virus scan with Avira and it did pick up 4 viruses and i removed them but the error still occurs. If someone could help me and give me guidance it'll be much appreciated.

After the PC tries the start up repair, select advanced options. From there you should be able to access CMD.

Once you get CMD open run this command. sfc /scannow -This will scan the integrity of all protected system files and repairs the system files if needed.

Hello.

I'm not sure what nasty I have. In normal mode, I get three critical error messages like below with different file numbers.

---------------
Critical Error!
Windows was unable to save all the components for the file \System32\496A8300. The file is corrupted or unreadable. The error may be caused by a PC hardware problem.
-------------

I have a black screen, can run nothing, cannot access files, cannot connect to the internet.

In safe mode, I can get the files to display and can access a CD and external hard drive, but still cannot access the internet.

I used a laptop to transfer DeFogger, DDS, and GMER. I ran Defogger, obtained DDS logs, but twice GMER caused a stop screen error: RQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and dumped the memory - had to reboot.

Previously, I had run rkill, TDSS, and MBAM. Once, the TDSS log indicated it had stopped C:\WINDOWS\system32\grpcon.exe - I believe it was the third time I ran it. Otherwise I get zero files terminated. I cannot run MBAM. I get run-time error '53' mbamnet. I tried using randmbam.exe, but was still unsuccessful after 10 attempts.

I get locked up in safe mode and have to turn off the computer and restart the whole process. This morning, I missed the safe mode tap and when starting up in normal, Spybot popped up and stated it had terminated a file called win32.zbot.

Thank you for any help you can give me. I'm stumped on this one. I've been working with it for two days now and can&#... Read more

A few days ago, I encountered a virus on a webpage. My Avast antivirus warned me of it and that was that ? I thought it had been taken care of. Later that night, my HP laptop showed a blue screen and showed ?CRITCIAL_PROCESS_DIED?. Since then, my computer goes to that blue screen again and then sometimes shows a black screen that says ?Boot Device Not Found. Please install an operating system on your hard disk. Hard Disk (3F0)?. But after I manually turn my laptop on and off, it?ll take some time starting up (I?ll see the blue screen a few times in the process), but my laptop will work fine again for a little while until the whole process happens again. Can this be fixed?
I appreciate any and all help ? thanks!

Hi

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Login on your usual account.

Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection

The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

I got another call from my Dad today. After cleaning his computer completely last month with help from BleepingComputer.com there is another problem so I went to check it out. I can't believe it.

Now on startup a fake system scan runs with many warning of I/O errors and critical hard drive problems. It tries to take you to file-recovery-system.com to buy something. Obviously it is a virus/hijack. I searched on the web for fixes and was able to use RKill.exe to at least stop the process and the warnings. I tried to install MBAM but the install failed twice, I get a permission denied warning. I tried to install after restarting in safe mode, but had the same access denied at the end of the install.

Computer is Windows 7. I am posting from my clean computer since the browser redirects on his computer make it almost impossible.

Current issue is this>

I press the power button and the fan spins for maybe half a second and then stops - nothing else happens at all. No beeps, no sound, nothing. It's just dead.

Leading up to this was this sequence of events>

My pc was crashing out due to overheating.
It seemed to be that he thermal paste needed re applying.
So I bought thermal paste - followed the regular steps to apply etc, re-fitted the fan.

Powered on machine.
Saw usual start up screens with press del for setup etc.
Then> CPU fan error, press F1 to resume.
(The fan was spinning)
Pressed F1
It seemed as though star up was going to continue but instead screen went blank with just a flashing curser in top right corner.

Tried several re-starts.
Changed connection on CPU fan.
Same issue kept happening, exactly the same.

Went to bios and changed fan boot thing (can't think what it's called) to ignore.

Re-started.
Fan spinning. (no cpu fan error message)
Regulr boot process kicked in
Screen blank, then > Error loading Operating System.

Checked all internal wires etc. Unplugged unnecessary stuff like dvd sata cable etc. Replaced HDD sata cable with new Sata cable.

Re-started.

Not sure if this is posted in the right place but here goes... Last week my computer died on me. Basically what happened is we had a power outage due to a storm, the desktop had been left on (usually left it on because I work from home), and when I woke up the pc was off because of the power outage. I went to press the power button, nothing happened.

The power button issue has been an ongoing one for the past couple of months. If I were to completely unplug the pc and then plug it back in, it would take me a couple of tries pressing the power button before it would turn on and start to boot up. This time the power never came back on.

So here's my issue: The pc had a 360 gig hard drive and I had quite a bit of stuff on there that I would desperately like to be able to recover. I had been planning on sending it in to be worked on and never got around to it, and had begun taking files off of the pc but left quite a lot on there as I was still using it and had procrastinated sending it in. The pc had some other issues prior to the power button problem.

I bought an external usb case on the advice of someone I know, and removed the hard drive from my pc. Turns out I bought the wrong size case (too small), so while I could plug it into the case, it was otherwise useless. When I did plug it in, the power button came on but nothing happened. My laptop, which is what I plugged it into, did not read the hard drive at all. I don't know if this is because it was the wrong ... Read more

Well I was using my computer like normal and then left it. When I came back it was locked up and I had to restart it. When it came up the second HDD I have with all my data files windows is showing but I had it titled "DATA(Z)" now its just "local disk(Z)". When I try to open it a window pops up saying the drive is not formated would I like to format it now? My guess is the File table has been messed up when the computer locked up. What are some methods that I can do to find out what went wrong with this drive?

Thanks,
Kyle

My internet stopped working tonight, so I restarted it. When it restart it went directly to Startup Repair, it wasn't able to automatically fix anything. I've tried restarting it and even removed the hardrive and it does the same thing. I can't get past the startup repair screen. It is more or less shutdown and restart, contact the administrator or your computer provider. The "root cause" seems to be the following:

Boot critical file C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\uolbyzn.sys is corrupt

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I am running on Vista Home Basic

A:Need Help:Boot Critical File C

Hello,

This is very strange. Normally from this position we would insert the Windows CD, boot to the Recovery Console and we would send you a list of commands to copy back the file from your Vista DVD. However, I do not have this file on my working Vista Home Premium, and searching Google comes up with not a single hit. It is a bit strange for a virus, but I suppose it could be. It is not any normal System file, or any normal file of any program. It is not even showing up in manual virus removal websites. Also, have you tried Safe Mode and Last Known Good Configuration?

But I don't know what it is. Last night, I was trying to discharge my battery to see how much life it has left. It shut down suddenly, and I thought it was normal, so I plugged in power and left it off so it could charge. This morning, when I turned it on, it took me to the Windows Error Recovery page, and now there's a minidump. The message given to me upon log in was "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown". Something of that sort. Does anyone know if that was supposed to happen?

A:Laptop died with an error

The dump file is a STOP 0x124 error - that's a hardware error that's reported to Windows by your CPU.
Since you were trying to drain your battery I wouldn't be too concerned about it - and would wait to see if you get another under normal operating conditions.

I recently have been getting the Error message Windows has encountered a critical error and will close in one minute.
I do not have the Brazilian financial Active X control that became corrupted, or if I do, I cannot find it. I have Vista 32-bit on an Acer Aspire laptop. This message comes up after I login and I can either access the Internet via Safe mode w/Networking, or do a System Restore, at which time the laptop works for about two or three times and then the error message comes back.
Do I have a bug? Please help!!!!

A:Error Message 0x80070005 critical error - windows will close in one minute

I followed the preparation guide and when I tried to run dds.scr, the black screen came up really fast and then disappeared and nothing ever came up. When I tried to run RootRepeal.exe, I was able to tell it to scan, but then I never received a report. When I tried to run it again, it said that I didn't have permission, and when I tried to delete it, it said the same thing! I am the administrator...I have Vista 32bit and I am getting the error code 0x80070005 windows has encountered a critical error and will now close. I run system restore to get it to stop, but that only works a few times, and then I get the error message again.
What do I do now??

Sup guys, every time i turn on my PC or restart it jumps to Windows is loading file and then starts doing start up repair and later on it would show me error log:

Root cause found:
Boot critical file C:\\ci.dll is corrupt

And then it would say:

Repair action:
Repair the file

What should i do?

A:Boot Critical File c:\\ci.dll Corrupted - HELP!

Another one?

There have been a few of these lately.

CI checks for unsigned drivers and checks that various system files haven’t been mucked about with by any nasties.

Suggest you try running sfc SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot

Try a malware scan from a bootable a/v Avira AntiVir Rescue System - Download

If necessary replace ci.dll from another source e.g installation dvd.

Quick background: I've been an IT admin for a major university for the past 12 years managing 300+ Windows and Mac user machines. So, this likely isn't your average network connectivity/name resolution/permissions/firewall issue.

I have an important user's Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit) machine that cannot connect to any windows file shares (Known good ones on multiple servers). At this point I would have normally just wiped the Windows install out and reinstalled but the user apparently has had this issue for many months (Possibly since May) and hadn't noticed. This resulted in his home directory being stuck in an offline state and all of his modifications are "stuck" on this laptop.

To further complicate things, before I knew the extent of the problem, I removed it from our domain and whatever issue is plaguing this windows install also is preventing me from being able to re-add it to the domain. Therefore I cannot login as the user with the cached offline files at the moment.

Here's what works:
-DNS name resolution
-NetBIOS/WINS name resolution
-Pinging the machines with the shared volumes
-Web access

Here's what doesn't work:
-Accessing any file shares. After about 30 seconds the error says "Windows cannot access \\servername\share"
-Accessing local file shares (i.e. \\127.0.0.1\c$ ...\temp, etc.). I get the same error here.
-The network troubleshooter doesn't find any problems.

The above behavior is the same whether conne... Read more

A:Critical file sharing issue

Well, couldn't get the file share access thing worked out but I did some experimenting on another Win7 machine and figured out how to get another user's offline files back (Assuming you have admin rights).

Here's what I did:
-Disable offline files
-Navigate to c:\windows\csc
-Take ownership of the directory and all sub directories
-Assign your account full control permissions
-Copy the files you want out of there

This sounds relatively simple but I was very paranoid about messing up the files in the process. Windows XP used to keep offline files in some sort of convaluted/compressed format that was not really usable on its own. Apparently they changed this is Win 7 and that's a good thing.
