I notice under my WiFi connection properties there is a tick box to use Intel Connection Settings and a Configure button. What are the advantages (if any) of using this and what are the recommended settings? I'm only sing 2.4GHz WiFi at present.
More repliesDear Friendz, I am using Lenovo Y460 laptop.I was able to switch on WiFi earlier but it is not working now.I think it happened earlier also but somehow by updating relevant drivers the issue fixed (did not remember exactly). Now since few days in my system tray ?Intel ®My WiFi Technology? icon is there and when I click/right click on it all the options are grayed out due to which I could not enable WiFi. But one option ?Open Intel® My WiFi Utility? is allowed to select and when I opened, the profiles option is again grayed out and it is displaying message that ?Network Adapter Not Found?.Then I went to Control Panel---->Devices--->Device Manager--->Network Adapter--->Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN---->and updated the drivers here. Restarted the machine but issue did not fix. Then deleted that Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN from Network Adapters and deleted drivers (C---->Program Files--->Intel---->WiFi---->Drivers)?downloaded from internet and uploaded drivers again (C---->Program Files--->Intel---->WiFi---->Drivers) then restarted the machine again no use. I also updated S32 and S64 in Win7 as I could see one folder name called drivers in C drive.( C---->Drivers--->Intel Wireless WiFi Link Driver--->Win7--->S32, S34 Folders) I am now totally confused?..Lenovo support does not want to help and they are telling to sign up for extending warranty otherwise asking to take this machine to... hi K. Sharath,
From this microsoft article, it looks like the Intel My WiFi technology is not compatible with the Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN card and is only applicable to certain types of Intel Wi-FI adapters.
To turn ON the Wi-Fi capability of the Lenovo Y460, you will need to:
1. Slide the physical wi-fi switch to the ON position
- Link to picture
2. Press Fn+F5 to enable the wireless card (ensure Current Status is set to "ON")
- Link to picture
Note:
The Lenovo Energy Management Driver must be installed for the function keys to work
3. If same problem, boot into the BIOS by pressing F2 on startup and ensure that the WLAN Device is Enabled.

Let me know how it goes.

I'm pretty confused, and I'm hoping someone here can help me. Every time I restart/turn on the computer, the wireless adapter turns on for a couple of seconds then shuts back off.
Then I have to manually press the adapter button for it to turn back on. I reinstalled my Windows and that didnt fix it. The wireless works as it should after I turn it back on.
I checked the power settings, in the properties for the adapter, And i have set it to always be on.
Does anyone know why this might be happening and what I can do to fix it?
I have a "Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN"
Looks like a Windows update solved this...
1 more repliesHello all, I am having issue enabling the 802.11n settings for my WiFi card that is supposed to have N grade (300 Mbps) capabilities. The card standards are 802.11b/g/n. According to Intel's white sheet for the Intel? Centrino? Wireless-N 1000, it should be able to utilize the N grade WiFi speed capabilities. However, I'm not seeing the setting available in the Advanced settings of the driver. The attached screenshot shows that there are only b & g settings available. This is most inconvenient because my internet speed was just upgraded to 105 Mbps & I'd like to at least enjoy a little. I'm not getting anything above 50 Mbps. Is anyone else having this issue?
It's the same for ALL Intel WiFi products. Wireless Mode for Intel is basically using ABG, BG, AG, A, G, and B modes only. (see screenshot)
For Centrino series, there's a menu called "802.11n mode" and from there you can use it to enable or disable WiFi N
For 7260 series, it is called "HT mode" and if you disable that, the NIC will refuse to connect to N network and will operate on G or A.
FYI, there's a difference between what Windows say on the connection rate and the actual rate. The actual rate depends on RF environment, walls between the computer, antenna gain, and power management. The best actual speed you can get is around 40 - 50 % of the speed reported by Windows.
Getting an actual speed of 50 Mbps means that you're already connected to WiFi N. I might guess that the connection rate reported by Windows is probably 144 Mbps. 50 Mbps is close to the maximum actual throughput of 70 - 75 Mbps. You can change the settings on your router to "force" 40 MHz channel width on the 2.4 GHz band and then set the "802.11 Channel width for 2.4 GHz to" "Auto" to allow the adapter to use 40 MHz channel width.
If successful, this should give you 300 Mbps reported connection rate and around 130 - 180 Mbps of actual speed. Therefore, your 100+ Mbps internet speed should be covered provided that your environment has little to none RF interference and the laptop is within line of sight of the router.

Have you tried to update "Windows Updates" this system using a wired connection?
Which make/model router are you using for this connection?
I have an Insignia 8" tablet that I use to listen to an internet radio station. WiFi connection to my 2Wire 3801HGV router. I have it powered by the AC charger. I have the display to turn off after 5 minutes, never to go into sleep mode when powered by AC. After the 5 minutes the display is turned off, the music continues as expected and will continue for hours. But if I try to do anything I loose my WiFi.
Right after the screen is shut off I can enable it again with a stroke. Then the music stops. I no longer have internet access.
Network settings says I still am connected but somewhere the connection is broken. I disconnect from my router and then try to reconnect and it will not. I get, Checking Network Requirements, Can't connect to this Network. The only way I have been able to get connected is to do a restart.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I have not found any settings that have been useful. All it should be doing is shutting off the screen. Not go into any other sleep or power down state.

please can someone help - thanks
Make sure you have the wireless adapter enabled, it's usually switch on a Toshiba, though it could be a function key sequence.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc
Please respond to all the following steps.
Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?
It would be best if you could post a screen shot of Device Manager with the Network adapters and Other devices sections expanded.
To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.
I'd like to see this as well.
Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework. For machines with no Internet connection, download this NET Framework 3.5 Full Package on another machine and transfer it with removable media to the problem machine.

I upgraded my friends HP laptop to Windows 10. The issue now is I can't enable Wifi. The card is recognized correctly in Device manager and no issues is found with it. It looks like it is fine. However in the Network Settings WLAN is set to "Off" and when I try to turn it on it always jumps right back to off. eg. I can't enable it.
HP is now help as they clearly state any laptop bought prior to specific date in 2013 will not get any driver updates from their side for windows 10. (Guys, never buy HP again please...). And updating through device manager only tells me it's the newest driver available.
The Wifi card i Broadcom 4313GN card. I searched for win 10 drivers but did not find anything. They only offer linux drivers on their homepage...
So can anyone either provide a solution to the issue or link to a win 1' driver for this wifi card?
I had a similar issue were I was stuck in Aeroplane mode on a cleanly installed W10. Turned out I had to uninstall it from the HID's in Device manager. It's worth checking that he's not stuck in it too. Search for drivers in Windows 7, from the HP website and you'll most likely resolve the issue.

4 more repliesHi Guys,
This is Viral. I am using an Acer laptop model ASPIRE 4736 since the last five years. There haven't been much issues with it. except for the battery and thats it. But recently, since last two weeks I noticed that my Wifi would stop blinking after sometime after I start my laptop and then it wouldn't work even when I try to turn on and turn off the Wifi switch(it doesn't respond anything). I tried searching the net for this issue using my office laptop and found that a system restore would help to solve this issue. Since I remembered that I updated Java as well as there was this ad software which got installed and I had unistalled it. So I did a system restore and then when I opened the device manager, I am not able to see intel r wifi link 5100 driver on it. I tried restarting my laptop and did everything and couldn't find the driver(it was there before the system restore). But later on the same day, the driver got installed automatically and the WiFi started working but only for a couple of minutes after the restart and then it stopped. So I did the system restore again to the date when everything was working perfectly and when i did that, again my intel r wifi link 5100 driver is not shown on the device manager(network adapters). I don't if it would automatically get installed or not but its sure that the WiFi issue still be there. So can you please help with this issue?

Hi, Rapidly tapping the ESC key after power on should get you to Startup Menu and from there you can select Computer Setup (bios). If you can't get to the Startup memu using the ESC key then you will need to take a longer route to get into the UEFI settings. Review this procedure. The below image is reflective for the Leeds motherboard in your PC. There is not a lot of differences between the below image and that which Paul had posted. You will need to change the Disable to Enable and then save the settings. The other changes will require Windows 8 Pro or higher and also to enable the function under Turn Windows Features On or Off.

I am using a Displayport to 3xHDMI adaptor to attenpt this. However I have tried to use a DP to HDMI/VGA adapter as well and it will not allow more than two at once. Even when I add a VGA monitor (connected to the Motherboard) on top of it and it detects all 4 monitors it still tells me that two are disabled and wont allow me to enable extending the destop to any of them. I have used this adapter on two other computers with Radeon and Nvidia graphics without issue. I have updated the intel graphics several times and enabled IGD and Multiple Display Support in the BIOS. None of these things work. More repliesThis may be an unusual request... I came across an Elitebook 8770W at the office that someone had bought and I think removed the nVidia K5000M GPU that was in it. It had never been started up either. I booted it and it went through setup and it works for the most part - but none of the external graphics (DisplayPort/VGA) ports work and the driver that loads is "generic vga" by Microsoft. I run speccy and it says it has a GT216 GPU and the nVidia GPU identifier says it has a NVS 3100M. Not sure either of these are right - and in any case I can't find an HP/nVidia driver that will load and the performance tool rate graphics as a 1.0. I'd like to enable the Intel HD4000 graphics and get a driver for that. Speccy says the CPU is an i-7 3740QM so i think it should have that built in GPU, right ? Is there a switch on the motherboard or something in the BIOS or am looking in the worng place for the drivers ?

welcome to seven forums.
That os compatibility thing is probably there to insure that nothing goes wrong. Im sorry, but it seems like you will need to install vista, update bios, and then install windows 7 again. You can install windows vista on a separate partition, install the bios, and boot from a dvd to delete the vista partition. Afterwards, use the windows 7 repair dvd to swap the bootloader back to windows 7
Hi,
I have a legacy intel pc thats chugging along pretty well. I currently dont have the option to boot from USB. However it seems a later version of the bios solves the problem but I wanted advice before I do anything and also pointers on how to update, if thats the way to go.
Motherboard: Intel D815EEA
BIOS:EA81510A.86A.0031.P07
I downloaded a document from intel which seems to suggest version EA81510A.86A.0051.P11.0051
and above have USB boot enabled from the BIOS.
Should I upgrade and how do i do it?
TIA,
raj
If it's an OEM (brand name) PC, you should only use BIOS updates supplied by that manufacturer (via their website), as those direct from Intel may not be the right one for that board, so you could end up with a non-working PC and no easy way to fix it.

1 more repliesHey all, I'm trying to set up dual monitors on my machine. I've got an ATI X300 Radeon card, and I'm trying to enable the onboard video card on the mobo for the other output. I've done it this way on other systems, so I'm hoping it's doable in this case, but I can't seem to get the onboard card enabled.
It's an Intel D915GSN board, which I've been unable to find a manual for. Intel's site has documentation for 7 different 915G-- boards, but none of them are "SN."
Anyone know offhand how to do this, or where I can find a manual?
Thanks

Is this from a Gateway computer? If so refer to the Gateway manual for yoru system.
But many of these don't allow you chose to enable both at the same time.
The solution to this is to run both monitors off the add-in video card. Most X300's support dual monitors but you may need a DVI to analog VGA convertor for the card.
Hi All,
I have a Satellite Pro P100 P/N PSPA4E-00X00HEN on which I have just installed Windows 7 RC.
I desperately need to run Virtual PC 2007 (other versions won't work) on it but it wants Assisted-Hardware Virtualization enables in the BIOS (Phoenix Technologies V4.70).
I have just updated to the latest BIOS version but it doesn't have the facility to enable AHV in it.
I have checked the processor specifications and it does have the Intel Virtualization Technology facility.
From what I have read up on the internet, although the Processor is capable the manufacturers on the computers/notebooks, in this case Toshiba, program the BIOS to their liking which will either enable or disable certain features.
What I would like to find out is, is there going to be another upgrade to enable Virtualization or is there another way to do it.
Many thanks in advance.
Hi
From my knowledge the usage of Virtual PC 2007 does not require a virtual technology supported by hardware (CPU).
I used Virtual PC and Virtual Machine on PC without the VT capability.
But you are right. The Intel CORE2 DUO T7400(2.16GHZ) CPU supports the VT
http://ark.intel.com/cpu.aspx?groupId=27256
Unfortunately from my knowledge the P100 BIOS does not support the option to enable/disable the VT.
I have a Dell Inspiron 13 - P57G.
One of the most important features of the offered by Intel Skylake mobile CPUs series is Speed Shift, which improves CPU battery and speed performance. However, this featured came disabled on this model current latest BIOS (version 1.08). And there is no setting that allows to enable it. Other laptop manufacturers have this feature enabled in their current line of laptops. Dell support, please provide a BIOS that has this feature enabled or switchable.

Hello! So i looked up Inspiron 13 P57G and it states its an Inspiron 7347 which came with 4th Gen Intel 4xxx series i3 and i5 processors, not skylake which is 6th gen 6xxx series. Is there a model number on the bottom of your laptop?

Provided you have a WiFi adapter installed in your notebook, you will need to turn on WiFi in your notebook then sign on to an available wireless network. I suggest downloading your user manual and reading up on this subject for more information. If you do not see any wireless networks, you may need to purchase a Wireless Router from your internet service provider. If you do not have a WiFi card in your computer you will need to contact Lenovo directly to purchase a compatible card for your specific notebook.
Also - make sure you have a good anti virus software suite installed before you go online.
Good luck.

Hi Ruben_Palacios ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
First to make sure that Airplane mode (page 6) is not enabled, there is a hotkey on top of the keyboard with an icon of a plane. Check if that would enable your wifi .
Else you can try to set the default of the BIOS ,
Access the BIOS by turning off the laptop and then use the Novo button (item2 page 9) on the left side next to power to turn it on. Novo menu would appear to offer BIOS set up , F9 to load defaults F10 to save and exit .
Load up windows and check if there is a wifi icon at the base of the screen.
Check also on device manager if there is any yellow mark or black down arrow to indicate any need to reinstall drivers from the support website.
Update us how it goes.

Hello, today I was messing around with "Network and sharing Center" when I accidentally clicked something along the lines of 'disable' beside WiFi. Now it is completely gone and I have no idea how to get it back, I have done extensive Google-ing but couldn't find an answer. I am now using a wired ethernet cable instead but I need my wifi back as soon as possible.
Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network and Sharing Center

If anyone could help me on getting it back I would be extremely appreciative, thank you very much.

I have a Dell D400, uses the Intel GM 855 and I'm wondering if can do any hacks to forcibly enable Aero?
Any help would be great, thanks.
Oh, on a side note, I found the little hack for Vista on how you enable it but it doesn't seem to be working for me in Windows 7.
Maybe there is another method?

Is there an easy way to disable my wireless connection so that (a) it does not enable itself after a reboot, and (b) I don't need to implement the complete process to re-enable the wireless?
Under normal circumstances, the re-enable after a reboot is fine. I can disconnect WiFi from the system tray, and it reconnects after reboot.
But sometimes, I might want wireless to remain disabled after reboot. For example, if I'm doing a database restore, and the database starts synching after a reboot (such as Evernote), it could cause problems :-)
At the moment, I simply switch off the router until the database restore is complete.

Just don`t let it connect.

Hi,
I have a Sony Vaio with a switch on the front that turns WIRELESS on/off. Whenever I turn the switch 'off', I get a pop-up box that says something like 'Alert: Wireless has been turned off'. The pop-up also had an option to turn off this notification. I turned off this notification a week ago but now i would like to turn it back on. I have been looking at a lot of settings on my computer but I don't know how to turn it back on.
Does any one know how to turn the notification back on?
Thanks in advance.
Hello and Welcome to 7Forums!
Try Right-Clicking the Taskbar>Properties >Customize(button)> And select the notification from there!
I have a problem, normally I press Fn and F5 to bring up the window to enable/disable Wireless Lan and Bluetooth. But it's suddenly stopped working and I cannot switch on my Wireless Lan. This is on IdeaPad Y580 running Windows 7. 1. When I press Fn F5 no window opens. 2. When I press Fn F6 my track pad is enabled/disabled as normal, although I do not see the notification on screen. 3. When I press the Fn and volume or brightness controls, they work perfectly, but again I do not notification on screen, the bars showing level of volume or brightness. 4. Also the One Touch Recovery and One Key Theater buttons are not working. But the audio Mute button is working. 5. I have uninstalled the Lenovo Energy Management software and reinstalled it but no difference. 6. I have checked the BIOS and Wireless Lan is enabled. 7. I also saw that in Task Manager I cannot see utility.exe running. This is really causing me problems, can anyone suggest a fix? Thanks, Dave.
Solved!
Go to Solution.
Finally fixed it... 1. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Lenovo Energy management Software - No difference. 2. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the Wireless LAN - No difference. 3. I noticed that the OneKey Recovery button wasn't working, so I decided to uninstall and reinstall the OneKey Recovery software...it worked! 4. In Task Manager I can now see that utility.exe is running as below: Now I have no idea why the OneKey Recovery software would affect the Lenovo Wireless Device Settings? But I hope this might help someone else! All the best, Dave.
3 more repliesHi
I'm new to 7 (all my desktops are XP Home).
With XP, the OS just connects automatically to my home wireless network.
However with this netbook, I have to do it manually everytime I reboot - it's a real pain.
Not sure if this OS, hardware or both.
Can anyone advise ?
I've looked at services.msc WiFi service and it's set to automatic already ....
thanks
PS Also, is there a way to get 7 to boot straight to desktop, without having to click on user icon or enter password ?
The reason these 2 are important to me is that this netbook is basically a music server, so when I come in from work etc., I'd like to just power up the netbook then walk off and play stuff via my network (Squeezebox) players

This is my first post here, so please excuse any mistakes I may make. My HP 2000 laptop isn't allowing me to enable my wifi. Okay, I bought a new laptop recently, and I have a problem. Almost every game I try to play says, "AGP is not enabled....", and it tells me its needed for best performance. How do I enable it? I googled it, and I couldnt find anything, so I decided to ask here. My system specs are:
Computer Maker: TOSHIBA
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.70GHz
Memory: 1014MB RAM
Hard Drive: 200 GB
Video Card: Mobile Intel(R) 945GM

From what I've read, you have an onboard graphics card(on your motherboard) I'm not sure if you have just that onboard card, or if you just have another card. If so, you could go into your BIOS(usually delete/f1/f2 at startup, one of those keys) read through it a bit. I know that sometimes there's an 'enable AGP' option, or anything that looks like it.
However, it doesn't look like you have an AGP card in your laptop.
Check that out first though. You might also want to check if you have the correct drivers for your card installed. On a side notenboard cards aren't very good for games, but they might handle a few.

8 more repliesHi, as mentioned on my other problem (system not shutting down correctly) I can't enable ACPI in the BIOS settings. More repliesI've just installed a wireless PCI adaptor (Tenda W322P 11N) in my desktop PC but I can't 'enable' it - every time I double click it starts to enable then stops and leaves it disabled with no warning or error messages.
The system is definitely seeing it as it's listed in Device Manager, and if I bring up Network Connections (using ncpa.cpl) it's listed and shown as disabled. Why would windows stop it from being enabled??
I've tried downloading new drivers from the manufacturers site in case the drivers on the disk were old - no difference. I uninstalled it and removed the drivers and then re-booted so windows would use it's own drivers - no difference.
It seems the system has a problem with it, but surely ONE of the drivers would work if it was a driver problem?
the software driver on their site is up to version 4.
If you are running on the driver off the disk it may be problematic.

Hey guys,
There is a difficulty i am facing recently in my girlfriend's house only(in all other places it works fine).
I have recently established a WiFi connection for her to use on her phone. It worked great the first day. It continues to work perfect on her mobile. On my net book, though, i can not see WiFi access point in her house.
It appears randomly for several minutes, i try to connect, it does not want to and then the access point disappears for some uncertain period of time. From time to time it appears and works fine from than on but disappears again if computer goes to sleeping mode...
Do you have any ideas what could it be?
Val
guys, anybody. please have a look. this is serious for me. thanks....
If my computer is not right next to the router and is idle for a while, the wifi connection drops. I have to "Open Network & Sharing Center", "Change adapter settings", disable and re-enable to reconnect. It's not a router issue since all other devices connect just fine.
Hi: The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if unchecking the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' box on the Power Management tab for the wireless card in the device manager, resolves the problem.
4 more repliesSo. at random times my WIFI gets disabled and when I hover over the symbol it says wifi networks available. When I go into the network list it just goes into a loop that never loads the list.
the none of the network list services can be restarted/stopped/started and in device manager I can not disable/uninstall/re-install my wifi adapter.
The only way to re-enable my wifi is to completely restart my computer with a forced shutdown (hold the power button) because normal methods go into loops that never end.
In the past I did fix it for an extended period of time by downloading the most recent .net Framework, this seemed to solve the problem for months until now.
I've seen many posts on how to disable action center and settings but have no help on how to enable it...! I have a Win 7 Ultimate and a couple of months back, my action center got turned off and the ability to change settings was grayed out too!
I checked first if it was an issue with some new program conflict but found none...
I checked the Group policy for clues but apparently many of the settings related to it are in order as far as my extent of its knowledge goes. Also the service related are active like the security module and action reporting service in the services are all in order too !!!
I have MS Essentials installed so i doubt its a problem with the antivirus.
Any help is appreciated.
I have uploaded the pic and group policy txt file. Please ask if any additional info is needed.
Those text files don't really contain anything.
Have you taken a look at the following information regarding this:
Group Policy Settings for Action Center
How can I turn off messages for certain Action Center items?
How to use Group Policy to turn off the Backup Notification in the Windows 7 Actions Center
I've had experience this problem for a while now on my newly built windows 10 rig. Every few hours, my Wifi simply stops working; the connection is lost. Sometimes it reconnects after a minute or so. Most of the time, I would need to manually disable/enable the wifi adapter in my Network Settings to get it back up again.
It happened with a relatively expensive adapter that I bought not to long ago - Netgear A6210 USB 3.0 dual-band wifi adapter. I found a thread about this issue here. I've not been able to resolve it with any of the tips provided (including downloading a generic 3rd party Mediatek driver). I've used this same adapter without this problem on my older Win7 machine. I thought maybe this adapter "went bad".
So I tried to replace this adapter with an older Wifi adapter made by Rosewill, using older Rosewill drivers. The same issue occurs. (Again, this Rosewill adapter worked perfectly in my Win7 system) So I have a hunch the problem is Windows 10 itself. Does it not place nicely with existing or older wifi adapters on the market? Would I need to buy a new adapter specifically certified for Windows 10?
Anyone have any insights on this would be greatly appreciated.
guys i have a strange problem with my WiFi lately
yesterday the my laptop lost the connection to my WiFi modem and when i tried to search it my laptop not find any WiFi modem but the other device such as: my smartphone detect it normally. but after that, i tried windows troubleshooting and it found that "you've lost your internet connect" and suggest some way to solve this problem, i followed the instruction and voila, my internet connection appear again but next 4 hours, it's dead again, i went to troubleshooting and it worked fine again.
so guys please help me to solve this annoying problem...
thanks before
Okay, it's now 13 Sep 2015 and I went around in circles to figure this out. I saw the same issues, to the point of knowing the driver was installed bu tthe Netgear tools never enable the WNDA3100v2, and one cannot manually enable it either. Also tried a USB A6200 device, with the same results. However, I did make this work, and it's kind of simple in my case. I was running the free Zone Labs Firewall & A/V package. And who's A/V package do they use you ask? Kaspersky! Kaspersky has a known issue with allowing proper installation of Netgear USB wireless adapters. So I followed the recommended guidense of a full uninstall of any Netgear WNDA3100v2 and A6200 drivers and software. Then a full uninstall of Zone Labs tools, reboot the computer, then reinstalled the WNDA3100v2 software. Followed the directions, recognition of the USB WiFi adapter was instant. Changed the device setting for being Enabled to auto connect if wired adapter is not connected, and here we are fully functional.Of course now I need to reinstall Zone Labs software, which according to the write up I read at Zome Labs, it should all just work now.Try this method if nothing else seems to work.
Can't recall your original post just now... But thank you for the workaround you seem to have discovered/executed. It may (as you suggest) help others with a similar/the same problem...

Note: I don't want to uninstall the Intel ProSet WiFi Client Software from my System. I just want to Disable the Services.

disable the unwanted services (make them manual)
& enable the required services and save the settings .
............................
I wish I were right
Let me start by explaining what led to my problem.
I work for an electric utility, and we issue Panasonic Toughbook laptops to our linemen containing our mobile mapping and AVL (Automatic Vehicle Locating) software. They are all running Windows XP Professional SP3. Our AVL software requires an internet and VPN connection to our AVL server at the office (we currently use Verizon Air Cards and the Cisco VPN client to achieve this). Since implementing this, we have found that Cisco VPN and the Verizon Air Cards do not work well when the wifi network adapters are turned on (or enabled). When they are turned off (disabled) everything works nicely. We can't just disable the wifi NIC's and call it good either because our user's need the faster wifi connections to perform database syncs in the mornings (via hotspots inside each garage bay). Once they are all synced up and out of range of our wireless network, the wifi NIC's are no longer needed. Since the wifi NIC's and Air Cards don't get along, we have been having our users turn the NIC's off using a hardware switch on the Toughbooks cassis. However, some of our older models (CF-29's to be exact) do not have these hardware switches. Our solution was to create two batch files and place them on the users' desktops; one that turns the wifi NIC on, and one that turns it off.
This brings you up to my current problem...

5 more repliesHi,I have a new Aspire ES 13 (ES1-331-P4C1) with Windows 10. I can connect to my wifi-router and access the internet, but the connection randomly drops after a couple of minutes. I can reconnect (sometimes), after running the windows troubleshooter. The wifi-chip is a broadcom BCM43142. It seems, that there's an issue with the driver and/or Windows 10. Wifi works perfectly on Ubuntu-Linux booted from USB. Here's what I've already tried:- reboot of router- turn off all the energy-saving stuff in the device-manager- uninstall old drivers- install new drivers from the Acer site- install all windows updates- install driver in compatibility-mode (windows 7)- reset windows 10 (delete everything and reinstall windows from recovery) The question really is, if this is a known problem with the driver or the OS. If so, then I could install Windows 7. But I'm very close to sending the laptop back, because I really don't want to waste my time fixing a newly bought, preconfigured laptop. Thanks in advance
I had similar problem with ES15. It started by dropping wifi after about one hour of use, then got worse...Also was plagued with the infamous "red x" over the network icon down in tray at bottom. After slight improvement when I updated the firmware (it was out of date), problem degraded to point that I could not connect at all, even with re-booting. Finally, even no internet with ethernet! Problem finally solved by doing the following: press "control/alt/delete" all at once, select "Task Manager",click "Services Tab" at top, click "status" tab on line just below the tabs: this will re-sort the services alphabetically together according to their status's (ie running, stopped)...click again on status until all the services in the top of the list you are seeing all say "stopped". Carefully begin going down the list top to end of services that are stopped, any stopped service that contains a reference to network, connection, connectivity, discovery,x-box,wireless, LAN, WAN, homegroup,:click on it (memorize the service name), right click on it: select "open services" find that service in the alphabetical list,(notice the descriptions here are very detailed now) RIGHT CLICK IT, select "Properties" select "Start", If startup type is not "Automatic", select "Automatic", click apply. Go back to the previous services page, continue down the list from previous service (that you just changed) and find the next one, repeat above steps. It may be fast... Read more
3 more repliesIm just wondering as to the settings for best 'performance' NOT graphical quality.
these are the settings:
asyncronous flip: on/off
tripple buffering: on/off
flipping policy: flip/blit
depth buffer bit depth: 16bit depth buffer/24bit depth buffer/deffault
force S3TC texture compression: on/off
force XFT! texture compression: on/off
driver memory footprint: high/normal/low
texture colour depth: desktop colour depth/16 bit per texel/ 32 bit per texel
anisotropic filtering: off/on/ application control
Thanks.
every thing off and 16bit
but its going to look like crap and your going to lose comparability with some programs so I WOULD NOT ADVISE IT AT ALL!!!!
I'm having trouble getting connected to my internet. I'm not techy and getting lost in trying to find a solution. I am with talk talk and even there repair tool is failing.
I have switched off my pc and network router and have switched all on again but still not connecting. I have a belkin G plus mimo usb network adaptor which is flashing green. The messages i seem to get are:
with talk talk repair tool: network device unbound, network adaptor needs communications protocol.
through windows when i try to repair: TCP/IP is not ebale for the connections.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

HELP!.
For the life of me I cannot get this great "thought" to work "any more"!
I bought a Dell studio 1569 from Best Buy. LOVE THE PC but one of the selling points was the intel Mywifi utility. It worked for a while and is seems like windows update got out in front of the Intel updates and it has never worked since.
I have updated all the drivers for it and for windows. I have bought new receivers but the bottom line is that when the utility is chosen, I either get "No supported Intel wireless adapter found" or I get " Intel My WiFi Technology not enabled. Restart the computer and try again."...........................believe me, I've restarted....
Don't worry, I'm not overly hopeful after reading a number of internet responses but I thought I'd try.
Thank you everyone in advance for any light you can shed.
Regards,
SoCalFalcon
Does the Intel adapter appear as "OK" under Network adapters in Device Manager? Is the installed driver the latest from Dell's web site?
Does anybody know when Intel is going to release Windows 7 Pro/Wireless and WiFi Link drivers?
Did you try Windows Update or the Vista x64 drivers? I don't have any issues getting various Intel wireless cards working with Windows 7. One of Windows 7's best achievements is that driver support for it is already in place, for the most part...unlike Vista's release.
1 more repliesHi
I was playing with my laptop vga settings in its settings panel. vga is Intel HD graphics 4400.
I changed some default settings for movie mode enhancing colors and such stuff. The new settings are used very good by windows media player but VLC is not using them, and is showing dull colors.
What settings i need to manage in VLC for this?
Attached below are the images. One is VLC screenshot and other in WMP screenshot.
I have always wondered what I could do to improve graphic performance for mostly gaming but also overall.
My notebook's graphic card is a Intel GMA X3100 (GM965 Express/384MB), Windows Vista would use 128MB, but Windows 7 uses only 64MB for AERO. My driver is 8.15.10.64.1825 (June 2009) and I want to know if I can change the settings in OpenGL to improve stuff:
The options provided are as follows:
1: Asynchronous Flip: Off [Off/On]
2: Triple Buffering: Default [Default/Off/On]
3: Flipping Policy: Flip [Flip/Blit]
4: Depth Buffer Bit Depth: Default [Default/16 Bit Depth Buffer/24 Bit Depth Buffer]
5: Force S3TC Texture Compression: Off [Off/On]
6: Force FXT1 Texture Compression: Off [Off/On]
7: Driver Memory Footprint: Normal [Normal/Low/High]
8: Texture Color Depth: Desktop Color Depth [Desktop Color Depth/16 Bits per Texel/32 Bits per Texel]
9: Anisotropic Filtering: Application Control [Application Control/Off/On]
Could someone please point me in the right direction.
Intel settings guide
1.on
2.off
3.Apparently if you run fullscreen flip is your only choice.
4.default
5.off
6.off
7.normal
8.Desktop Color Depth
9.off
Do you even have any games that use OpenGL?.
Can you help me enable the USB printer port on my
Windows 98?
Thanks, Elaine in Dallas
When you start up the system you should see a message "press key to enter setup" usually the delete/F1/F2/F10 key are the most common. Once you enter setup, look through the menu's until you find the option to enable/disable usb, set it to enabled, save, and exit. If enabled windows should recongize the port on the reboot and will probably ask for your windows cd to load drivers from
Hi guys,
Would really appreciate some help here as I am getting the run-around from ISP, Microsoft and Compaq.
I have a Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium Compaq Presario that I have put downstairs and am trying to connect to the internet via a Netcomm NP545 USB stick. The USB stick worked fine on my old computer which ran XP but it won't work on the Vista model.
The USB stick is compatible with my version of Vista, the problem is that when I go to the network settings and it shows my wireless connection, it is disabled. If I click enable it goes on to say enabling...enabled but it remains disabled.
The USB stick works on my other two computers one running XP, the other running Windows 7. And am at a total loss as to what could be preventing it from working.
Anyone have any ideas?
When I try to set up the wireless connection and it doesn't find one, the diagnosis is
"RT73 USB wireless Lan card is experiencing driver or hardware issues"
Hello & welcome,
I think you are being pointed in the right direction you just need to go there: -
NP545: NetComm
What antivirus & firewall are you using?
