Probook 650 G1 not charging.

Q: Probook 650 G1 not charging.

Hey all, Nice forum and really have found a lot of useful info here but still need help. My 650 G1 started showing Plugged in / Not Charging. I found the following link on HP but when I try to run the SP / BIOS update, it tells me that this update (SP67772) is stepping back from what I currently have on this laptop. Do I do this anyway or is there some other update that needs to be done and I keep my current version? http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c05058319 It was purchased earlier this year and is still under warranty but when I try to do an on-line chat, it tells me that the serial # is not valid but I know it is. Anyway, any help that you all could send my way would be appreciated. Thanks.Frank

Hello! My ProBook 4540s was working fine until a half hour ago, when I unplugged it to move it and then attempted to plug it back in, and it stopped charging.  When plugging in the power cord (that came with the ProBook when I bought it around 18 months ago), the light above the power jack (and no other lights) flashes white 9 times. I've tried following this fix I found on Google: 1. Turn off the notebook2. remove the battery3. remove the charging adapter4. press + hold the power button for 40 seconds5. insert the charging adaptor only6. press the power button and it supposedly continues but I get stuck at this point, because even plugged in, my ProBook won't start up without the battery in also. Is this a know problem/is there a fix for this?

I was recently given a Probook 4310S, it was working fine but it was running Windows XP.So yestaday I installed windows 10.During the Installation Proccess the Laptop  was working fine, it was charging and the battery was holding charge. After I finished installing drivers and everything, I plugged it in because it had low battery, 1 hour later I came back to the laptop and the computer hadn't charged and is saying "13%, Plugged in Not Charging". I have tried other chargers and it is still not charging or charging above 13%. When I plug it in, sometimes the charging LED will come on for a couple of minutes, then it will eventually turn off, another time when I unplugged it, it starts flashing.  Now it thinks it is happy and is charging again, but it has also done this when i was trouble shooting, it will probably stop charging again at 13% Does anyone have any ideas?

I have a customer that ive done a fresh install of windows 10 on a new hard drive for.  On windows 7, there is no issue with battery charging (new battery, new charger)  but when I swap the drive and boot windows 10, the battery reports as plugged in not charging.  Usually around 96%.   If the charger is unplugged, let the battery die down to 5% or so, then plug charger back in, it charges fine, goes to 100%, then after awhile it says the same thing, plugged in not charging.  (which i see as normal, but pretty sure the hp power mgmt software would report it as still plugged in and charging, try explaining to a customer when they see something as what they think is a problem..)There is no hp peak power manager for windows 10, only windows 7 and 8.1.  The windows 7 or 8.1 version will not install on windows 10.  Tried in compatibility mode for every version of windows known to man.  Anyone know if there is an HP version of power management software tuned for windows 10 floating around somewhere, maybe for a different laptop?  Thank you.

My laptop (purchased new July 2015, battery manufacture date May 2015) was working fine and the battery was being charged properly.  Then a couple of months ago my son upgraded to Windows 10.  He had some problems with drivers and not being able to run his programs so he downgraded back to Windows 7.  After that the battery doesn't charge anymore.  The charger is recognized and the laptop runs, but it is not charging the battery.  I suspect it's an internal laptop problem and buying a new battery won't help.  Any thoughts or suggestions to fix this problem?

Hello, I have a HP 4530s with this problem: If I remove and insert the battery while Windows is running, the battery charges for a little while and then stops charging ("Plugged in, not charging). An orange light is blinking near the power connector. If I remove and insert the battery again, it charges for a while and then stops again. If I turn off Windows and disconnect AC power, if the orange light was blonking, it continues blonking (didn't wait to see how long). If I do this enough times, the battery charges to full. When I disconnect the AC power the laptop works normally on the battery (battery capacity is OK). What I have tried:1. removing the battery, disconnecting AC, holding power button for 40s, reconnecting AC, starting Windows, shutting down Windows, inserting the battery.2. Updating the BIOS to the latest version (F60) - this actually helped because previously the battery was not detected at all if removed and inserted until I did #1.

I have an HP ProBook 455 G1 that won't start / boot. All of a sudden, the light next to the power cable was blinking white.  The laptop wouldn't turn on - no lights, no display, no fan activity.   I have tried the recommended hard reset solution already where everything is disconnected, including the battery, and the power button is held for 40 seconds.  This solution does not solve the problem I'm experiencing with this laptop. I've been troubleshooting it for a few days have had no luck. Through reading fourms, some people had similar issue and solved it by disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard. I have tried this and still no luck. I have changed out the following; Memory, Harddrive, Charger, Battery.  Still no luck. If you know anything that I could try or anything that would help, please let me know. Many thanks

i have been using this laptop for 2 years i get it from my friend .

from start it always charges battery upto 56 percent.

and i thought that there is problem in the battery cell and in few months battery backup becomes very short.

Yesterday i bought a new battery for my laptop but it is giving me the same problem which i had with my previous battery.

So this is not battery problem.

Things i have tried

1)Removing battery and uninstalling windows ac adaptor from Device manager.

2)Removing both battery and power Adaptor and pushing the power button for 20 sec if there is any residuel current.

Nothing has worked for me so far.

I would be thankful for your guidance.

Hi...

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. I figured out that my laptop, when being charged or using the Power Outlet, runs at 100% CPU at times, and slows me down when running and working on some open applications. At first I thought I had tons of spyware or even a virus, and even posted a Hijackthis file here. Nothing was found.
I figured out that my cpu runs at 100% when using the power outlet, or when my computer is chargnig. When I unplug the powercord and use the battery life, everything runs GREAT!!!!! my cpu drops to a normal 4-8% usage with multiple applications running. WEIRD huh? Can anyone relate to this ?? Is this and indication that my battery is going bad???? Can someone help me with this or suggest what is going on? I am running windows XP home edition, and have a compac presario 1500 series. Hi,
I have a dell xps 12, bought in 2012. Recently the battery stopped charging. The battery shows 0%, so I have to be plugged in to turn the laptop on. When it is on, the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, charging" but after a day it is still 0%.
Since then I bought a new battery. Just fitted it, but now the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, not charging". Furthermore, when I Fn+F3 to show the battery meter, it says "battery charging diabled". There is no option here to turn battery charging on. Nor is there an option to enable battery charging in BIOS.
BIOS does show battery performing normally, so does the battery meter (Fn+F3). BIOS also shows AC adapter as 45W, which is the original adapter.
Any help is appreciated!

I'm coming through with this issue because I saw so many people (including dell tech support) struggling with this issue before.
The issue is as follows: you connect your laptop to the charger, the charging light goes on, windows says "charging", even the BIOS says charging, and yet, the battery's voltage just keeps going down no matter what you do about it..
Dell tech support usually try to guide you to reset the BIOS battery by removing the main battery and press the power button. but it's not the case here.
The solution I found was a very strange one, changing the RAM slot seemed to solve the issue completely.
Just taking the RAM card from one slot to the other. on one slot it's stopping your laptop from charging, on the other everything is good.
I honestly don't know why that is (and I'm a PC technician myself),  considering the laptop ships with two perfectly good RAM slots, but I thought the solution needs to be out there.
I'm hoping I managed to help some of you, (Even with my less then perfect English) Sapir.

I did: - Update Window- update BIOS ver 1.4.4- BIOS > setting > general Battery Information: health excellent, 80% (Idle), AC Adapter = 45W-Power Management > Primary Battery Charge Configuration: Standard- all step here (www.dell.com/.../SLN296542), except (step 5 & 6).- I ran diognasis test in BIOS: everything passed. Hey,

I just got my computer back from having the motherboard switched out because of another problem, but now my battery will not charge. The light is on and it says it is charging, but it isn't. Should I attempt a gauge reset or something else?

It is a Lenovo y50, which I have had for 3 months. The battery needs to be unscrewed from the back.
Thanks!

A:Says plugged in and charging, but is not charging. Just got motherboard fixed.

If it is not charging maybe the battery is defective.
Did they gave you back the original charger?
Did they install another different motherboard which might use a different charger?
You may need to contact the person who repaired it to find out.

I've had my HP Envy laptop for about 3 months, and yesterday I noticed that when it was plugged in it wasn't charging (the battery icon says "plugged in, not charging"). I turned it off overnight, plugged in, and this morning the battery was fully charged. It only seems to not charge when it is turned on. I have tried removing the battery, turning on, deleting the ACPI-compliant control method battery, turning off, and turning back on again (as advised in other forum responses), but with no joy. At first I thought it could either be a battery issue, but the fact it fully charged overnight whilst off would lead me to believe it's not, and is probably a software / settings issue. For some reason my laptop once stopped charging, I tried a few different outlets at a library and non of them made the laptop start charging again (charging = organge light glowing). I got home, and my outlets there didn't work either. THen after a while I tried an outlet again, and it worked. Then this problem occured one more time (then I fixed it somehow). And the last time it occured  I haven't been able to fix it. Trust me I've tried almost everything, I tried turnign it off taking the battery out and holding the powere button then trying to charge it, I tried waiting for hours, but  have not tried a new charger.  So here is the problem I see: I plug in the charger, and the charging LED does not glow, instead it randomly (it seems random) blinks.  I once left my laptop to do that for hours, and it still didn't even charge. Need Help!

The problem started from June 2, 2015 about 4 AM (UTC +8:00 Philippine, Manila)

I open my Notebook that morning to check on my e-mails and bills at gmail but it's not powering up. At first I thought that the battery was slightly drained because I saw my sister still using it at midnight. I asked her if she did not plugged in the charger when it is nearly drained but she said she plugged it and it is still full when she shut it down.

It is Li-ion Battery

I tried plugging in the charger to check whether it still has remaining battery. It powered up.
On the taskbar/notifications/running apps it says 8% Available (Plugged In, Charging).
So to check out the problem, I left it turned off charging for about two hours.

Then after two hours it still says 8% Available (Plugged In, Charging)
What the hell is this?! I asked my self.
I installed an app to check the status of the battery (Battery Bar)
Battery Bar says something like this:
Capacity: 2K of 8K mWh (not sure about this)
Charging: 0 mW
Running on AC
7.9% Available
Something like that.

Summary Notes:
1. Does not power up without Charger
2. It detects the Battery saying 8% Available (Plugged In, Charging)
3. Though Plugged In, Charging it does not charge at all because of 0 mW charge rate
4. It turns off when the Charger is plugged out.
5. It still run even without the Battery (when the Charger was plugged in of course, then a red x mark shows in the notification taskbar battery icon)

Thus:
1. The problem is som... Read more

I have Toshiba satellite model C875?7304. The battery indicator on the desktop says that it's charging but the percentage is depleting. This is on a brand-new battery that came with 67% full and a new adapter. When the laptop is off the LED indicator in the front is lit like the battery is charging. However it is not. After leaving it plugged in for a few hours the percentage was the same as when I turned it off. Also the adapter wasn't warm at all. I've tried all Toshibas recommendations removing all power from the laptop and holding the power button down for 30 seconds to a minute. Also removing the battery for the bios and reinserting it. Still that hasn't worked. I removed the laptop battery and the laptop will not power on using AC power only. It's almost like the laptop is only using battery power and the adapter is not charging the battery or keeping the laptop on. Laptops only about a year old. Any suggestions anyone?

A:Toshiba satellite charging but not charging

As the laptop's only a year old the original battery should be fine and not need replacing. Also if it won't run from the AC power only something is wrong. Look for your receipt and if it's still under guarantee take the laptop back.

(plugged in, not charging)
and my battery charge LED indicator is flashing....

I did this Method that I seen here

Battery Charging Is Not Indicated in Vista or Charging LED Does Not Turn On HP Pavilion dv4-1117nr Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

But well, it still didn't go up to 36%

Some say that I could just take the battery off the laptop...
and still use my battery charger...
But I don't wanna risk damaging the charger...
If that happens, I have two things I need to fix
And I don't think I can take it.

A:35% (plugged in, charging) then not charging. :|

Hello and welcome. I read those instructions. and from your post, i can assume that you did those steps correctly and are still having issues. To further trouble shoot this , how bout testing what happens when you are running on battery and the charge is waaaaay low. Plug it in and see if it charges. and if it just charges to the one level of 35% . If this happens after it ( battery ) has been run down to a low power state and only charges to 35% , then to me that would indicate a battery issue. So, with that in mind, let battery run down and then plug it in and report back how far it charges back up to. Also, note how long it takes it to run down to a state where you need to recharge it.

I have a HP Probook 4740s laptop. When the laptop is open (ON) and I plug in the power it shows Plugged in, Charging but it does not charge. The only time it charges in  when I have the laptop closed (cover down). I have run the EUFI and systems diagnostics, uninstalled and re-installed the battery drivers in Device Manager and the battery report is fine but the problem still persists. Anyone ever had this issue kindly assist. I don't have any warranty on the laptop.

My only guess is that you could be using a charger with enough wattage to run the computer but not enough to run the computer AND charge the battery.

Is this the power supply that came with the computer?

My 4540s recently has problems with battery charging. When I plug in, on the taskbar it says : "Plugged in, charging", however it is not charging. It is not going above 0%. I followed the steps that are here like uninstalling "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" and then removing battery, holding power button for a minute and then putting back battery and turning notebook on. But it was useless. My laptop still not charging. Please help me with this issue.

Sorry if im in the totally wrong area, first time post.

My laptop:
Dell m1730
Vista
4gig Ram

So my Dell M1730 one day decides to stop charging and then slowly looses its power until it goes dead, I have had this issue once before, so as I did before I let the laptop sit there for a couple of hours then plugged the power back in and it worked again. But now whilst im on it, it is always detecting the charger then not recognizing it and so on, until eventually it just stops detecting it and goes flat, and I have to wait a couple of hours before I can try again. I have checked the part that goes into the laptop, as in opened it and checked it, there was no obvious damage. So I have no idea whats wrong, Could it be the mother board? Why is it working if I leave it for a while?

Thank you in advance.

A:Randomly Charging Then Not Charging.

I also forgot to add that its my laptop, its not taking power, my battery is alright.

Dual graphics in laptop HP ProBook 455 G1Hello! I have a problem. I have laptop HP probook 455 G1 with dual graphics. integrated( AMD Radeon HD 7640G)+  discrete (AMD Radeon HD 8750M). I want to install the latest drivers. but what do I do if the discrete supports them, and integration - no.? And how to properly install the driver? Thanks

A:HP Probook 455 G1

Install the AMD driver that is available at the HP Support portal. (If there is not one available, leave the driver installation as it is, unless you mind that it stops working.) It contains the AMD and Intel driver. Do not install the Intel driver seperately. If you do install it seperately, the switchable  grapgics function will no longer operate as expected.

There has to be some sort of program that has been configured to start up the laptop after having been turned off x amount of time or at a certain time, I would also have a close look at the BIOS as wake on LAN or a similar setting may cause this as well.

Hey guys, I recently bought ProBook 450 G3 with i3 Skylake processor and 256GB SSD. Dont get me wrong, it is well crafted machine, but one thing gets on my nerves. Due tu specs, I did expect almost complete silence. However, when I am broswing, or even doinn simple things in Office, the fan countinously goes very loudly on and off, for a short period of time (5 sec.) without any reason. The notebooks temperature in that situation is around 40C, but I believe it is not the main factor, since not always when the laptop is over 40C fan kicks in. I mean, it is irregular and I am not able to pinpoint the cause, mainly because there may not be any. As the fan noise is very hearable, it makes working on this laptop in quiet enviroment kind of annoying. I have to add that all drivers and BIOS updated and no obstales are near the vent.  I also tried various power plans etc. Basically all to minimize that behaviour but it still occurs.  Any idea how to solve this is more than appreciated. Thanks in advance!

How i can configure to go 5.1 ?

A:5.1 on hp probook 4720s

On many systems, two channel stereo is all that is available. It can be hardware limitations and with a laptop there isn't much you can do.

I can't find anything on HP or other sites to confirm just stereo, but if that is all you are getting I suspect that is it. This is sold as a "business" laptop so it may not have all the Media features a "non business" or "consumer" model may have.

So yesterday I opened my Probook 4540s, and it was at 0% charge (The OS literaly displayed that), which was weird. I tried playing with it a little, I've connected it to a charger, and it did not detect it - and eventually the probook shut down.At this moment the laptop won't turn on, and my guess is it's either the power brick, or the motherboard. I tried replacing the power cable connected to the brick but it didn't quite help. When the power cord is connected to the laptop, the LED blinks each second, but its a weird blink, like not on\off, it's turning on, blinking, turning on, blinking etc, but the laptop isn't charged, it wont start with either the battery connected or without it. Tried hard resetting, didnt work either.Does that sound like more of a motherboard issue? If so, what could I do to fix it? Should it be expensive?

About two weeks ago I bought an HP Probook 4710s. Everything was fine until about 2-3 days ago. I was playing a game on my computer when it randomly turned off. I tried powering it back on and it shut off within two seconds. It felt a little hot so I went to bed and it worked fine the next day. The next day I didn't play any games and I was just using it normally, (browser, yahoo and aol messanger) and it shut off again. It didn't feel as hot this time. Finally, this morning I was watching TV and put down laptop to get a drink and when I got back a minute later my computer had shut off. This time it was not very hot at all. I've been googling things but haven't really been able to find any answers. I don't know if it is a hardware issue, or lack of updates of some sort, or If i got a bug that makes my computer think it's overheating and shut down. It's pretty annoying since I JUST got this computer. Any information in the right direction is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, So i have a problem with my HP ProBook 4320s, it won't turn on. Here's whats happening when i try to turn it on. When i have the battery in without the recharger and i try to turn it on, the orange LED light for the recharger blinks 8 times and same when i have battery in with recharger plugged in. Note, the orange LED light should stay on when recharger is plugged in and it's recharging the laptop. Now, when i have the battery out and the recharge plugged. The orange LED light doesn't even turn on at all.  Now here's what i have done. I did a hard reset, which i unplugged the recharger and removed the battery from the laptop. I then held down the power button for 60 seconds and after that i plugged in the recharger without the battery and attempted to turn on the laptop. Nothing happens and the oranged LED light doesn't turn on. I then left the recharger plugged in and this time inserted the battery. The laptop still won't turn on but the orange LED light blinks 8 times. Now i've tried this with 2 different recharger and same result above. I can confirm that the 2 recharger is working because the 2 recharger works with my other HP laptop, meaning it was able to recharge my other HP laptop.  My other HP laptop also shares the same recharger as the HP ProBook 4320s by the way.  What i've also done is, i've opened the HP ProBook laptop, took out the RAM and reinserted the RAM and tried the above and same result. Hi,I've twice had to exchange a Probook 450 G3, for additional reasons also (faulty power connector), so have had experience with 3 units altogether. All 3 had the same issue, the fan would kick in too often, a few instances a minute, making an up and down whirring sound which was very annoying and distracting. The strange thing is that the fan would kick in when the CPU usage was minimal, <5%, web browsing is the most taxing thing I do, no gaming or intense graphic applications.Never had an issue like this with any other laptop/computer, it's basically brand new so no possibility of dust, too hot environment etc. My 8 year old Dell laptop with much more inferior specs handles these activities easily with infrequent fan noise/activity.The laptop is not getting noticeably hot for the fan to turn on and off so often. Is the G3 so heat inefficient that the CPU gets too hot very easily, or is the fan's thermal sensor temp. range too low and the fan is kicking in unnecessarily? I've updated the BIOS and chipset and already contacted HP support who want me to send it to them, but I explained that this issue happened on all 3 units, revealing that the model design/components could be at fault.Would appreciate any insight/explanation for this.

I've seen other people complaining about the same issue, so I'm not alone: ProBook 450 G3 - Fan going on & off for no reason Fan making a wavy sound / HP ProBook 430 G3 Laptop's cooling fun speeds up speeds down constantly fan noise HP probook 430 G2 - fan noise probook 450 g2 cooling fan

Hi,I've twice had to exchange a Probook 450 G3, for additional reasons also (faulty power connector), so have had experience with 3 units altogether. Hello to everyone! I've got such a problem: my laptop is HP ProBook 430 g2, the battery is broken and I'd like to purchase a new one but I couldn't find it on HP Store. Perhaps I'm looking for it in the wrong place. Could you please help me find it?

Hey, this Is my first time posting probably ever in any forum.  Im not a genius when it comes to computers, but I more than get buy.  I have a home studio that I have had for almost 4 years now.  I bought my laptop new for this purpose also 4 years ago.  I needed firewire and couldn't quite afford a macbook or imac plus I am familiar with windows OS.  I could of went with a hub of some sort but my desktops were already full of stuff.  Anyways I bought the HP Probook 6465b after the store owner swearing it would function just as good as a macbook. IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE!  I guess simply for the fact of not going with an intel chip.  My Question, Is there an upgrade im unaware of or a part or two I can buy to fix these issues cheaper than a used macbook or laptop on windows garaunteed to functionas needed?

Ok, so we have decided to try a newer modle of the hp ProBooks not knowing that they cannot connect to the preivious docking stations we had purchased. After research we have found they work with the port replicator(usb3.0 HP)all seemed well until i get a service ticket inquiring about the freezing issues, After checking the drivers and more recent version of the bios still no dice. I had opened the laptop(we keep them closed initally-obviously lol for the docks) and the laptop it self was unresponcive, ctrl alt del did nothing nor did the curser move.- I am running the ProBook 450 G3 no hardware changes- most recent updates and drivers- Windows 10- HP Port Replicator is new and functioning- 1 pissed off employee

It is hard to tell from your comments where your issue is at this time. In terms of the usb 3.0 dock, i believe it requires displaylink drivers, which should be available as a softpaq from HP. Did you install them on your laptop?
