Yoga 3 14" & Yoga 2 Pro Both Laptops Not Turning O...

Q: Yoga 3 14" & Yoga 2 Pro Both Laptops Not Turning O...

So three weeks ago, I was working on my Yoga 3 14" and popped to get a drink, I came back and the screen was blank, I assumed it had gone to sleep, so hit a key to wake it up. Nothing! The laptop was plugged in, so I know it hadn't run out of charge. After sheer panic, I contacted Lenovo, who told me that my warranty was out by a month, and that I could send it to them to diagnose, and they would tell me how much to fix, then it was up to me if they did or not.One I wouldn't be happy about not having my laptop for a couple of weeks minimum, but also it had all my private information on.I turned to good old google, and stumbled across this forum, and somebody with the same problem.Their solution was to unscrew the back case of the laptop (as mentioned above, my warranty was already out), remove the battery cable, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and reconnect the battery cable.I did this, and low and behold it worked. Fantastic!Only for it to happen twice more that week, and approx twice a week since. Then yesterday my brother contacts me saying his laptop has died, just won't turn on. His is the Yoga 2 Pro, I told him to bring it to mine, and I would try what I had to do to mine, to his, low and behold, the same solution worked. Seeing as I wasn't the first person to have this issue, and I'm guessing others have used the solution but not commented, this is obviously a fault with the Yoga range. I'm hoping that Lenovo can address this issue, as I feel a 13 month old laptop should not be having these problems. Please if you are reading this because you are having the same issues, comment on here. I loved this laptop, but now I am panicking very time I go to turn it on.

Hello,I'm having trouble since I recieved my LENOVO ThinkPad Yoga 14 two months ago.It is on guarantee.I've noticed that the master fan keeps starting even if the computer is not working at full capacity. Sometimes, it starts right after windows as finished booting! And it's a brand new computer, Intel i7 CPU and 8GO of RAM!The fan keeps working then even if I'm only surfing on the internet or working on word. It's REALLY annoying. I feel like this is already an old computer by it's blowing. My old computer, a 5 years old Toshiba Satellite, doesn't blow so much.I've searched over the web and found that LENOVO had released a new UEFI Bios that was suposed to fix this problem. I've installed it and nothing changed! The fan kept on turning on for nothing else than a gmail home page.I've already asked about another problem on the ThinkPad Yoga 14. It's about a background noise on the built in speakers. Here's the link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Background-noise-on-ThinkPad-Yoga-14-bu...I'm not having a good experience with this Yoga 14. I was looking for professional quality and it is not.Can someone tell me if they have the same problems? What LENOVO is going to do about it?Thanks.Ludovic.

A:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - The Fan keeps on turning on eve...

Hi ludovicfd Can you please post the full model number of you machine and which Windows version are you using?. For example my TP Yoga 14 is "20DM008UUS" and I didn't experienced those issues.  I'm guessing that your machine fan is blowing too much and making huge noise. In my case I can feel more the hard drive noise than the fan, it is not like the HDD is "that loud", but when you are on a quiet enviroment you can feel it "scrattching". Do you want to try first updating any firmware / BIOS on your machine at the latest level ? After that another alternative will be to try to update the driver for the chipset and power. The basic thing for me is to try to update the drivers and firmware this way:- Windows Update- Lenovo System Update- Lenovo Companionand after that search manually for updates on the Lenovo Support site with your specific model number. Sorry, it is trial and error to see if a driver can fix your issue. If after updating the drivers, you think it is hardware issue you should try to contact Lenovo's Customer Support site Regards

so our yoga 2 13 crashed - due to a bad hard drive.  in looking at the pages and pages of entries on this forum regarding hard drive failures in these machines i find it incredible that Lenovo doesnt do something.  When i called, i was told - too bad, you are out of warranty we wont do anything for you.  My response is that I will never again buy a lenovo product and will go back to Dell - i have Dell laptops that are 11 years old and still running, unlike my just out of warranty $1000 Yoga laptop.  such garbage they put out.

Hi guys, I had a Yoga Pro 2 but I got it replaced by Lenovo under warranty because it was having some major major issues. They sent me a Yoga 900 and I am already noticing problems with its connection to my bluetooth mouse. I used this same bluetooth mouse on my Yoga Pro 2 and it always connected fine without any problems at all but with my Yoga 900 it seems that the mouse will be connected for 5 minutes max and then the Yoga 900 will no longer recognize the mouse. Any help is appreciated, this is very frustrating and I have had been having a lot of problems with Lenovo's devices. Their warranty is great but I am getting tired of so many problems for such expensive machines.

A:Lenovo Yoga 900 Bluetooth keeps turning off by its...

Similar problem here.  Yoga 900 just a couple of months old, and I decided to try a bluetooth mouse.  It connected and worked just fine for a couple of minutes and then stopped.  Windows still says the mouse is paired and connected, but it doesnt work.  Turn bluetooth off, turn mouse off, remove mouse from bluetooth devices, re pair mouse and it works for a couple of minutes and then stops.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  I'm hoping this is a Windows problem and not a Lenovo problem, but if anyone finds a solution I would love to hear it.

Hi! I got this laptop december 2014, it worked nice until one day it decided not to turn on, instead of this, the laptop shows sleep-mode behaviour (blinking keyboard, black screen) but without waking up. It initiates randomly, key-combination doesn't work, nor pushing windows key. Additionally, if I turn off by pressing the power button and try to turn on again, it keeps to be in sleeping mode. If is turned off again and the one key recovery is pushed, nothing happens, same sleep-mode reaction. I contacted technnical assistance in Spain, they were really kind and quick taking the call. As suggested I restored the system to fabric condicions (when I got my laptop turned on and through the windows 8.1 menu restoring to initial configuration option). It seemed to solve the problem but just for few re-starts. After using the computer about 10 times (I mean, turning off and turning on the laptop), the same problem appeared. I called again technnical assistance, today they are picking up my laptop at home because I'm still warranty covered, I hope to get my 1600? laptop working well again soon. Just wanted to share this situation with other lenovo users who can be in the same situation. In my case, I'm not using this laptop as a primary computer, that's maybe why it took so long to detect/appear this problem. I already tested updating bios, drivers, energy configuration... Nothing worked up to date. I found another person having the same issue (http://community.sp... Read more

It sounds like a hardware failure to me. Though not comforting to you, this is the first report of this type of failure I've seen and the 3 pro has been out quite a while. I hope you get a favorable resolution!

I have a ThinkPad Yoga (Type 20CD) that recently began experiencing a major issue. I was using as usual when it gave me the windows 10 blue screen and told me it was restarting. Upon restarting, it was only able to launch to the boot manager, and when I tried to start normally, it noted that my Hard Drive was not found. I figured it was a seating issue, as I've had those before with the cables for the trackpad, so I opened the bottom and reseated the drive. After doing so, the computer will not power back on. When I press the power button, the ThinkPad logo light comes on for around 3-4 seconds, but then dies. No other sound is made, the fans do not come on, and nothing is displayed on screen. I have tried several suggested fixes (holding the power button for 30 seconds while disconnected from AC power, pressing the emergency reset button, etc) but to no avail. Since this is my primary computer for work and school, I am really looking to get this fixed asap, so any solutions I can do myself would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, I have an almost 2-year Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Ideapad, and recently I lost the original charger, so I started using an Innergie universal charger which never really worked that well to begin with. Anyway, the other day, I came home from work and plugged it in to charge overnight, and didn't need it until yesterday. When I went to use it yesterday, the only response I could get from it was the light by the power button to turn on, and even then only when it was plugged into the universal charger. I didn't get any other lights - no keyboard lights, just the white light from the power button and constant white charging light with an occasional orange blink.  Then it took a while to get it to turn off. I took it to Best Buy, but the guy at the Geek Squad wasn't very helpful, and I was very reluctant to just send away my computer before I actually knew what the problem was.  I was going to try taking a look inside the computer, but I couldn't get all the screws out because I did not have the proper screwdriver.  Does anyone know what the problem might be or a possible solution? I really can't afford to not have a laptop, and I really can't afford super high repair fees.

Hello All, I have an issue with my YOGA 700 laptop when logged in multiple accounts simultaneously. Whenever an account is left logged on and the user is switched as opposed to logging off, the cpu usage ramps up very high with several RUNDLL32 processes being the culprit. I have checked the RUNDLL32 processes with Process Explorer and the command line are as follows:C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\EnableAutoRotation.dll,RunCustomMonitor The directory is as follows: C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\ The only solution I have found is restarting the laptop. The problems comes back when again more than one user is logged in. Also, the rundll32 processes only run high cpu on one account at a time and there doesn't seem to be a preference for a specific account, all of them are plagued one at a time with the problem. Disabling the Yoga Mode Control service is a fix but that breaks the mode control which is essential in this laptop. I have tried installing all the available software on the Software page foor the YOGA 700. The rundll32 processes drain the battery very fast and I can't always log off other users when they have apps open!  I have posted a screenshot of process explorer showing 2 rundll32.exe processes using 25% cpu usage each. However, sometimes up to 4 rundll32.exe processes open up and they use combined 100% cpu usage, which makes the laptop run very hot and slow. In t... Read more

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

A:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Any help / direction would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, we got 2x Try-and-Buy Lenovo Yoga Tablet Laptops (an X1 Yoga and a Yoga 260) to evaluate their suitability for our company, since we intend to upgrade several of our employees laptops. However, ever since we got the devices we noticed on both of them frequent issues with the display and waking from sleep. Very often the laptops won't wake up properly with the screen staying black. In those cases the display-backlight seems to turn on, and I assume the system is running somehow in the background. Putting the computer to sleep again (e.g. by closing the lid) makes the computer wake up properly on the second attempt. Different error in the same category is when a video is running and the laptop is connected to AC - plugging out the AC cord made the screen go black while the media content's sound kept playing. All drivers were updated to the newest version via Lenovo System Update 5.07.0029. Any ideas? I also tried to open a support ticket, but Lenovo wanted to send and install a new display (!). Apparently, that seems like a driver/software issue?! Best regards

The major differences I see, looking at: http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Lenovo_Yoga_900_13_inch are: the SK2 has Intel Iris HD 540 graphics, slightly different CPUs and PCIe SSDs.

Regarding driver updates, there's a feature in Lenovo Companion that assists with that.

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

My laptops, hp dv4000, had stopped getting on AC power (charger was fine), so I had it examined by the local repairman and he said that "charging I.C." is damaged and need to be replaced. I had him change the I.C. When it got repaired and I went to take it back, it stopped running on battery (at his shop), upon which he said
that the damaged I.C. on the last boot had damaged the battery too and now battery is dead (so I have ordered a new battery, which will arrive in some days).
Now when I had taken it back home, it worked fine when I watched a movie (for 2 hrs), but then when I closed the movie and started reading a pdf it turned off in 5 mins.
Then I carried a self-examination and found that it works fine when it is on high power consumption (or probably at high CPU usage) like watching movies or songs, but it turns off (as if power is cut) whenever placed idle or used lowly like reading e-books or using word or things that require less CPU usage.
The battery is currently taken off (I had the repairman repair the battery so I didn't have it now to check if it works fine with battery.)
Its not heating up (physically), the HWmonitor report is posted below. Please, any help would be appreciated. Had the repairman cheated and done something wrong. Before repair, everything was like for more that two years. please help!!!!
Note: I found the area around charger port relatively much hotter than the whole laptop.

A:Laptops turning off by itself

HWMonitor would give a readout on the battery but you don't have it. I think that you'll just have to wait for the replacement battery and see how things go after that.

hi,

Im having a problem with my laptops wireless capability; it worked fine, until i tried a hardwried connection (i went over to this center and tried one and it didn't work, so i unplugged it).

Now, I can't connect to any wireless networks unless i do the windows network troubleshooter, which it tells me my laptops wireless capability is turned off; I then have to click on the option to turn wireless capability back on..

I have tried playing in change adapter settings in Network Connections, but nothing is working.. I have tried disabling the LAC and wireless adapter but nothing is working..

I also notice under Local Area Connection that is says "Network cable unplugged". Also in one of the tables of the windows network troubleshooter it shows Network cable unplugged and wireless capability is turned off.. Is my laptop trying to find the hardwire connection all the time so it turns off wireless? How can i fix this :3

A:laptops wireless capability keeps turning off..

I also notice under Local Area Connection that is says "Network cable unplugged".Click to expand...

That's normal and accurate unless you have a cable plugged in. If you do have a cable plugged in probably the NIC or cable is defective. Although it's possible that the ethernet was turned off to save power.

I assume that you are using an integrated wireless adapter. What kind of wireless switch do you have, and is it turned on? Do you also have a utility that can switch the wireless on or off? If so, is it saying "on"?

Hello, Which third party SSD's could be installed in the new Yoga 700-14ISK? Is a 2.5 inch 7mm SSd compatible? or only 5mm is supported? Thanks

A:Yoga 700 SSD

5mm SSD's aren't that easy to find, especially in 512GB or 1TB sizes. I think i'm going to buy a Yoga 700 aswell and get a 512GB mSATA with an adapter instead of trying to squeze a 7mm in there

You're looking for a clear laptop skin. Several online companies will offer either a custom fit or cut-to-size option.  Skinit.com, Mightyskins.com and even Amazon will have what you're looking for. I would recommend googling "Lenovo yoga 900 clear skin".Good luck!

Hello, I recently bought a Yoga 900 and I'm really happy with this laptop. I hadn't have a good experience with batteries, after one year they just don't simply work as originally. I am wondering what is the best to do for taking good care of the battery, either have my laptop plugged all the time, or making entire cycles waiting until it's low on battery to plugg it, or plugging it at 40% , or whatever. I will really appreciate an answer. Thanks. Tomas

My Yoga 2 Pro was in sleep mode and when I tried to turn it on again, I got the power light and keyboard simultaneously blinking every 5 seconds as described in various sites around the web or as seen on Youtube.  I tried the different solutions of:1.  unplugging battery 2.  unplugging battery and cmos overnight3.  holding power button for various periods of time Nothing seems to work.  Interestingly, I did try to reboot holding down Function+R key and that resulted in power light staying on and amber orange battery indicator blinking with keyboard.  However, the keyboard light will stay on for a few seconds before turning off and then another few seconds before turning on again.  So at least I got a different response.  Also, I did get the fans to start running on the boot up once but was not able to replicate after trying the function+R. My questions:1.  What can I do to resolve it (seems like a common issue and hard for me to believe that the motherboard is busted)?2.  What is the root cause?  Is it a bad BIOS?  I did upgrade to Windows 10 a month or so ago so not sure if this caused something.3.  If a bad bios, can I boot to the correct bios on a usb stick?4.  Should I try rebooting to a usb in general for windows 10?5.  Should I reboot without the solid state drive not plugged in?  I tried once and it did nothing. And yes, my warranty ran out also.  I love the laptop ... I just got my Yoga 900 two days ago. I love it so far, everything seems to be working great and I was nervous some of the other reviews said the trackpad was bad and honesstly the only complaint I have is the small shift key... but hopefully I can train my fingeers differently.  I am posting this because of an issue I am having with the keyboard and typing. I am seeing double letterss when I am typing and Im leaving themm in the post so you can see how often it happens. I am not a heavy typer by anymeans and it happens simotanously as the letter is typed.  I have installed the BIOS and driver updates with the lenovo app and also updated my windows 10 completly. The trackpad update really fixed alot of scrolling issues and hopefully another one can fix these double letters. Itss not the hardware in the keyboard right? Hopefully not because I llove this computer.  Anyone else having these issues???

I'm getting no answers from anybody (in Lenovo).  If you do not give me a real solution for the issue, or a different laptop, I promise I will make a campaign against LENOVO in Italy, as long as I work in eComm. Hi govwin ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can try to follow this basic trouble shooting guide for USB failure.
Else if an automatic update tried changing some settings aside from doing a system restore you can try to download this microsoft hotfix for this issue .

Several people have asked about using the Samsung 1TB EVO mSATA SSD (840 EVO MZ-MTE1T0BW) with the Yoga 13 and Yoga 2 Pro, but after hours of searching I can't find a definitive report that either a) it works! or b) specific reason why it doesn't work. I purchased this mSATA drive and had a professional install it into my new Yogo 2 Pro i7, but I tap the "recovery/bios" button next to my power button, boot into the BIOS, and see that the SSD hard drive is not recognized. I've been a PowerBook/MacBook user for the last 15 years, but the 3200x1800px touch screen, 2 in 1 touch Win 8.1 interface, and mSATA option that I thought would allow a 1TB connection attracted me away from my 11" MBA with 500GB SSD. Just a bit bigger, big heavier, but far more powerful... I'm very happy to move on to a new environment, just hope that I can get this SSD working. Lenovo's authorized service center here in Shanghai claims that the 256GB SSD that my 8GB i7 Yoga 2 Pro shipped with is the maximum sized SSD that will work in my laptop, and claims that this is because it's the "chinese version" even though my BIOS is in english... There is tons of information online that almost answers my question, for example: Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Hardware Maintance Manual (pdf) only lists drives up to 512GB, the largest drive listed is the Samsung PM841-512GB mSATA SSD (not the Samsung EVO series or the Crucial 512GB)Amazon reviewer Adam C reports he's using the Samsung 256GB ... A:1TB msata SSD in Yoga 2 Pro?

I've done some additional testing on this today. First, I purchased an external mSATA SSD enclosure and mounted my 1TB Samsung (840 EVO MZ-MTE1T0BW) inside the enclosure, connect via USB3, and other machines read it just fine. So my 1TB drive is definitely good. No problem here --- yet that drive still isn't recognized by my Lenovo Bios. Second, I purchased a 512GB mSATA SSD, the Samsung PM841-512GB mSATA SSD, the exact model number listed in the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Hardware Maintance Manual (pdf), but this drive isn't recognized by my BIOS either, even though this drive also works fine inside my external mSATA SSD enclosure. Third, I installed a 128GB mSATA SSD into my Yoga 2 Pro and it's immediately recognized. When I switch back to the 256GB mSATA SSD that came with my Yoga 2 Pro, of course it's still recognized and works just fine. Product Name: Lenovo Yoga 2 ProBios Version: 76CN31WW (seems to be most current version)EC Version: 76EC25WW (why doesn't embedded controller version match BIOS version?)CPU: Intel(r) Core(TM) i7-4500U CPUSystem Memory: 8192MBHard Disk: Unrecognized (when I use 512GB or 1TB mSATA SSD)Windows License: STD I've isolated that it's not a bad SSD, and it's not a problem with the way the SSD is installed. The SSD is seated correctly each time. My same problem still remains. After hours of searching I can't find a definitive report that either a) it works! or b) specific reason why it doesn't work.&n... I've had my Yoga 900 for about a month now, and suddenly several issues appeared:-The Start-menu and Action center suddenly got really laggy. Live Tiles are not as smooth as they used to be.-Scrolling in many apps, including Start-menu is "jumpy". Whereas when I scroll, either with the touchpad or the touchscreen, it scrolls some lines and suddenly goes the other direction for a few lines.-Screen-brightness is locked to 100%. I am not able to reduce the brightness, neither from the Action center, nor the Lenovo settings.-Sleep-mode suddenly disappeared from the "power"-alternatives in the Start-menu.-Screen-orientation does not change, neither with rotation-lock de-activated nor activated. I tried to re-install some of the drivers, but nothing happened after I hit the "Run" button.

Bought my son a Lenovo yoga 3 on 15/7/2015 from PC World £800, by 5/8/2015 it stopped working. Took it back on 5/8/2015 and PC World exchanged it no problem. After one year and three week the replacement has stopped working. Sent it back to Lenova who are now demanding £250 to repair it saying it needs a new main board and power supply - what after just a year old - clearly not fit for purpose - they accept it has not been damaged through misuse. I am waiting for a manager call back but I am absolutely appalled at the stance being taken by lenova and unless we get it repaired free of charge I will be taking the matter further. Any one else experienced such problems ?

Hi,After an unsuccessful support call with Lenovo Ideaxxx technical support, they referred me to the Community. I have a new Yoga 710 in our environemtn that I need to PXE boot for our provisioning workflow.  WIth the Yoga 12 Thinkpads, we use the Lenovo USB-Ethernet adapter and it works fine.  The Yoga 710 doesn't see the USB-Ethernet adapter as a bootable option -- I've disabled secure boot, enabled legacy boot, and enabled PXE boot over LAN in the BIOS. If anyone is PXE booting a Yoga 710, what adapter are you using?   Thanks!

I'm really interested in buying this machine, the 14" model in particular, but have two questions I desperately need help with and I can't find the information online! 1. This is a specific question, but could anyone please tell me the size of the SD Card slot?I'm hoping to actually get some sort of measurement in centimetres or something here. I know that sounds a bit odd, but perhaps it's possible if you stick a normal SD card in and measure how much went into the machine and how much stayed out? The reason I ask is because I know normal SD Cards will protrude quite a bit on this machine, however I've found these special, smaller adapters and I'm wondering if they would fit flush into the machine so the issue is negated. (https://www.amazon.co.uk/MacBook-MicroSD-Memory-Adapter-Apple/dp/B01I92PFG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1...) It's an odd request, but it is important and I'd really, really appreciate it. 2. Can the default role of the F1-F12 keys be changed? As far as I can tell,  they are used for shortcuts and if you want to actually use the F keys themselves, such as say Alt+F4 or F11, you also have to hold in Fn. This would drive me nuts! Can it be reversed so they function like normal F1-F12 keys? Perhaps in the BIOS? Thanks for reading and I really hope you can assist me!

I thought a SSD was suppose to be quiet...well my yoga 900 fan seems to be running quite a lot and there is a high pitch squeal to it (quietish high pitch squeal but still annoying).  How do I know if this is a return issue or something typical? Has anyone else had this problem? Returning a computer is a huge pain so I dont' want to do this just in case.  Only want to return it if something is indeed wrong with it.

A:Yoga 900 - fan noise

I hear the fan kicking on when I'm playing games or rendering videos, otherwise, its basically silent. Also when charging, I hear it kick on. Check your background processes, might have something running. Also, make sure you're not on high performance mode.

I bought Lenovo Yoga 700 about a month ago from a CompUSA store for my personal use following my early retirement. Before Lenovo, I had Dell which the company provided and upgraded every 3 years. I never had any issue with Dell, nada. As I start using my new Lenovo laptop, I started having problem and nightmares. Minutes from booting up and starting my laptop, the screen would go crazy as if some external force take control over my computer. I could not do anything, literally nothng to stop it other than turning it off. I took back the laptop to CompUSA to return it for refund, but they refused becasue I did not buy insurance. They reffered me to their Geek to check it for me.  It took the Geek four days and $200 to say that a virus found home in my laptop, but don't worry we fixed it for you. Well, believe it or not, I took it home turned it on and guess what, boom same thing, same genie that I encountered before came back to hunt me again. Ofcourse, I took back the laptop to the Geek and ask for refund becasue they have not fixed the problem. Well guess what, they refused but I guess they felt sorry for me and told me that they beleive it is the touch screen that causing this problem and they turned it off and yes it was becasue the probelm was solved.   So, if the IBM gurus know that there is a problem with Lenovo's touch screen, why don't they recall all the ... Hi moonshine1, welcome to the forums.

Can you please share the full model number of your Thinkpad Yoga ?

What I recommend is to update the drivers of the machine, specially if you upgraded to Windows 10. That can solve some issues with power and video. There is the System Update utility that can help, but it is also look manually for updated drivers on the support site, because sometimes the utility misses the newer ones.

About the touch screen, there had been some reports of "ghost touches" on the Yoga-3 with LG touchscreen. There is a firmware update for it. But if you have a non LG touch screen and you are having that ghost touches the best way to deal with it will be to open a ticket with Lenovo. If you bought it a month ago it should still be on warranty.

CompUSA is still open somewhere? I didn't know that. I thought it was bought by TigerDirect.

For the last few weeks, I have been dealing with an issue of my Yoga 13 sometimes not waking up after I have put it into sleep mode.  I sort of ignored, as my system is out of the warranty period and I cannot afford a full-cost repair.  Today, it would not wake up from sleep mode, so as usual, I did a hard restart (holding the power button until the system turned off and then after a minute or so, powering it on normally).  This time, the hard restart did not work.  When I powered the system on, the power and caps lock, and battery lights/buttons turn on momentarily and the fan turns on, but then they all go off.  Usually after that, the power light will come back on intermittenly, along with the fan, and then go off after a while.  This will continue like this almost indefinitely. Nothing will ever show in the screen.  The battery seems to charge just fine, as the battery light recognizes whether or not the charger is plugged in and the system had a low battery light when this started earlier today, but has since charged, from having it plugged in.  I have tried the Novo button - it does the same thing as a regular power on.  I have tried these options while having the system plugged in or unplugged.  I am really stumped here and would appreciate any thoughts on what this could be.  I have seen lots of other, somewhat similar forum threads, but there is usually a detail or two that are different. I really hop... A:Yoga 13 will not boot up

By the way, I just got off the phone with Lenovo tech support. They had me go through resetting the system several times and trying the Novo button, but since the caps lock button does not work, they said that this is most likely the Motherboard, CPU, or the LCD screen. Any thoughts on how I can narrow it down to which it might be?

In the past 2 days, my new Yoga 14 has gone to sleep while in use. If I check the event log, the sleep reason is button or lid. I've got about 2 weeks left on the return window and will probably return if I can't find a solution for this.

Right out of the box, my Yoga 2 Pro had one major flaw: the fan is really loud and it's pretty much always on. Right now I'm using only Firefox and my CPU is running at 55C, my CPU usage is at 1% - 5%, and my fan sounds like a bicycle with a baseball card stuck in the spokes.  I can hear it over a pretty loud TV in my living room.  If I close the lid, then it turns off. From what I'm reading on these forums, this can't be normal.  I downloaded NoteBook FanControl and that works sometimes but not always. Any advice?

A:Yoga 2 Pro - Loud Fan, Always On

As a quick update/addition, this doesn't always happen. I restarted the computer right after I made this post, and now I'm playing a card game. My CPU is at 64C, but the fan is not on.

Hello all, I have a lenovo yoga 3 14 (bought in 2015) which has always been suffering from very loud fan noise when just browsing or even on sleep mode. I know other owners of this model had complaints about the same issue and Lenovo kept on promissing new BIOS releases that should fix this. So, my question is, are there any users who managed to find the cause of this and fix this? And do we know if Lenovo is still working on some type of BIOS update because up to now I have installed all of their BIOS updates, but  the  problem never went away. P.S. I know there is another  thread about this, but  unfortunately it's marked as "solved" when it clearly isn't as there  are many frustrated users that are still suffering from this design flaw and no actual solutions has been provided by Lenovo.  Thanks!

The LTE version of the yoga 260 is now available. I recntly tried to order one through campuspoint.de together with a RAM upgrade to 16GB. Upon trying to acctually do the upgrade the people at campuspoint.de noticed that, unlike in the non-LTE version, the RAM in the yoga 260 with LTE is actually soldered to the mainboard.  My questions are: Is this true for all variants of the yoga 260 with LTE or is there also a variant with LTE and non-soldered ram?Is is possible to upgrade a non-LTE yoga 260 with non-soldered RAM with LTE (antenna, SIM slot,...)?

A:yoga 260 LTE ram soldered

Oh man.. this is bad news  I wonder if structural issues such as the pen slot cracking have been looked at since we are obviously looking at some kind of revision of the chassis/mainboard?

My Yoga 2 13 is a bit over 2 years old.  The W key stated either auto repeating or did't work.  I took the key off to clean it, and now the whlole keyboard doesn't work.  Can I just get a bluetooth keyboard?  The replacement keyboard (I found on the blog) is out of stock.

Dear all,I hate my new acer laptop (worst keyboard ever made) and have narrowed my choice to the Lenovo Yoga X1. Your help in choosing options would be appreciated. I'd like to know if people thought it was worth it in terms of quality (ie scaling issues) and battery life to get the 1440p resolution versus the 1080p (the IPS version, not OLED) of 1440p. Is it worth it to get the OLED version if it can even be found (I can't even configure this on the web) I'd like to know if it is worth it to upgrade from the SATA to the NVMe hard drives in real life use I don't play games but mainly use web, citrix reciever, stock programs like thinkorswim thanks for your help Collin

Hi there,

I bought my Yoga 900-13ISK Laptop (ideapad) recently (less than two months). Once I turn it on, it gets hot very fast. I am not running any special program/sofware on that. The CPU temperature goes to 75 C and the fan works in high speed although I am using a cooling pad with 5 fans. I check if there is any application works on background, but nothing special is running and the cpu is occupied by 20-30%.

Would you please help me with this issue?
