If I use either F4/the windows key + P and select duplicate or PC screen only (or any other option) and then plug it into the TV, both the laptop screen and the TV screen are blank. Pressing any key does not bring up anything on my laptop screen, then when I unplug the HDMI cable it comes up with the second screen only option highlighted. My laptop strangely ignores what I click and constantly reverts back to this option and alas, I cannot project the screen onto any monitor (I have tried 4 separate monitors).

My laptop previously was able to be plugged into a TV and I have done this numerous times but as far as I'm aware this stopped when I had a windows 8.1 update (my assumption, I'm not sure). I have searched the web for solutions and none have worked. I have tried the method of detecting the monitor via the screen resolution option on the desktop, but again this can't be done because I can't see anything on either screen when my laptop is plugged into any TV, and I have tried countless times.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks a lot

A:Satellite Pro C850-1K3 cannot connect to a TV via a HDMI cable

I use Toshiba notebooks few years now and what I can say is that you must connect your notebook to the TV at first, enable the right port on the TV and then use FN or F key to change between notebooks desktop and connected TV.
Connected TV or other external device must be detected at first.

Please test it one more time.

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to connect my Toshiba laptop with an HDMI Output to my Phillips 42PFL9532/98 using ATi Catalyst Control Center and I am trying to clone the laptop monitor to be the same on the TV but it comes up on the TV Unsupported Video Format and when I make it a 2nd monitor it works fine.

It would be great if someone could help me out to get it working.

Thanks Sam

Sounds complicated (To me anyway)

I'm running Windows 7 64bit with 2 video cards (NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT and NVIDIA GeForce GT 240) as I use 3 monitors.

My TV is located where it is not possible to run a cable to it from the PC, It is however beside a CAT5 box that is connected to a CAT5 box beside my PC.

I use a TP-LINK TL-MR3420 router for my PC and wireless access upstairs.
It is connected to a Belkin Share wireless router set up purely as an access point downstairs via the 2 cat boxes mentioned earlier for wireless access and a wired connection to my xBox.

I want to use one of the spare video card ports to connect to my HDTV
I have a HDMI output on the NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT and a DVI output on the NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 that are not in use.

I think HDMI is the way to go as I believe I can use a S/PDIF cable to connect my motherboard to my NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT and so I will have audio as well as visual.

My question is:
Can I use a HDMI to CAT5 converter, connect a HDMI cable to the video card output, connect one end of a CAT5 cable to that, the other end to my TP-LINK TL-MR3420 router (Which is connected to my Belkin Share wireless router)
Take a CAT5 to HDMI converter and run a HDMI cable from my Belkin Share wireless router to my HDTV?
Is it possible to do this via a router at all?

Any help is much appreciated ..

A:Connect PC to HDTV via HDMI -> CAT5 -> Router -> Access Point -> CAT5 -> HDMI -> TV

Hi and welcome to TSG.

The HDMI to CAT5 converter most likely sends raw high speed serial video through all four twisted pairs of wires in the CAT5 cable rather than converting the video data to Ethernet compatible data packets. Any Ethernet router or switch would not know what hit it.

I got a Toshiba P50-C-17F running on Windows 10, with an Intel HD Graphics 520 and Nvidia 950M running alongside it. My TV is a Samsung UE46F5000.
The problem: all my devices display the laptop's screen via HDMI. My smaller TV, my monitors, and with many of my HDMI cables. But no combination results in an image on my main TV, the Samsung.
The error is: Mode Not Supported. Something about a resolution that doesn't match and isn't true. (Because I've tried every combination, from 1024x768 at 60p to just 1920x1080 at 60p, the TV's native mode.)
I'vereinstalled Intel's graphic drivers multiple times, and tried multiple versions. I don't know what to try anymore. I've also tried all the different HDMI ports of my TV, of course.
So, why does my Samsung TV not show an image when hooking up my Toshiba laptop? I can't make sense of it.

PS Different boot procedures have also been tried. TV first. Laptop first. You name it. And it doesn't have something like a PC mode. It even works fine wothy desktop hooked up via HDMI.

Seems a common problem that HDMI doesn't work. How hard can it be?

Machine: R50-B, Windows 10 (upgraded from 8.1), 64-bit.

HDMI no go: when I plug in an HDMI cable (live) the system detects it, shows it has two displays, but nothinb on the second display. Yes, I have tried Windows-P to choose the displays and worked with the dual-monitor settings.

There is no HDMI Manager driver installed. The support site has no Windows 10 drivers, and the 8.1 driver 'HDMI Manager' installer does nothing - it runs but nothing gets installed.

Any suggestions?

I am trying to show my Toshiba Satellite T130 display on my Toshiba 32" LCD TV, model 32BV702B, using an HDMI cable. The laptop recognises the TV and when using duplicate or extended desktop, the builtin laptop display behaves as expected. However, the TV shows "No Signal" when the HDMI input is selected.

We have another laptop with an HDMI output and this setup works fine. On both laptops we use a 1366x768 display.

Does anyone know how I can get this working on the Toshiba laptop?

(P.S. It appears that someone else had a similar problem: [] . The solution in that case was to use a VGA cable instead of HDMI and the original problem wasn't solved. I'd really like to use my HDMI cable!

A:Satellite T130 - HDMI Display not working

Well, the other option is trying to recover the notebook using the HDD recovery or recovery image created with the preinstalled Toshiba recovery creator software.

I read the other thread and the other user did not try this?
At the other hand you could try to set the BIOS to default and save the changes. Be sure that HDMI is enabled there.

Also try this:
Disconnect AC adaptor and battery
Wait some hours (3-4 hours) and then press power button for 30 sec.
Then connect both parts and test the notebook?s HDMI.

Hi all...

I hope you can help. I bought my new Satellite in about October last year and from day one I've been experiencing problems connecting an additional monitor. Originally I had an old monitor with a VGA connection, and of course this computer only has HDMI.

So I bought an adaptor, which didn't work. I tried connecting my computer to the tv monitor with the HDMI cable to test it, but it still didn't work. It's still under warranty so I sent it back to Toshiba service, who couldn't find anything wrong with it, and returned it to me.

So I bought a brand new monitor, (a BenQ), and a brand new HDMI cable. Indeed for some reason it worked for a couple of months.and now doesn't. The computer won't detect the monitor, and the monitor says there is no cable plugged in when I attach it to the computer.

I've tried everything and it's driving me crazy.

A:Satellite S50T-B - HDMI port issues

The VGA-HDMI adapter will not work because HDMI provides digital signal and VGA (RGB) port supports analogue signal. You cannot mix both!

Anyway, back to your HDMI issue.
Please try this workaround:
First of all go to BIOS (F2) and set the BIOS back to default settings (F9) and save changes (F10).
Now connect the notebook and TV with an HDMI cable. Both units should be OFF during the connection.
Then power up the monitor and then the notebook.

As far as I know you have to use the function key: FN + F4 to switch to external or internal display.

Please check this!

Is there a driver for the HDMI port for the Satellite R830?
It no longer connects to a TV.

I have tried different TV's but still nothing.
Also there is no HDMI under the device manager under the control panel, should there be?

Many thanks for any help or advice.

A:Satellite R830 - HDMI port is not working

I don?t know what Windows system you use on this notebook but the HDMI driver isn?t available since the HDMI port driver is part of the system and should be recognized automatically.

For HDMI sound capability you should install the right sound driver and should enable this in control panel -> sound -> playback device

In order the HDMI (digital out) would not be listed there, right click and choose:
show disabled devices, show hidden devices.

Usually the HDMI connection isn?t very tricky. Everything should run automatically.
Connect both devices using HDMI cable.
Power up the TV, then computer.
Now use the function key (FN key) video output combination in order to switch to video out (HDMI).

Note: the right HDMI channel should be chosen on your TV

That?s all

A:Satellite R830 and video output through HDMI

I don?t know your LCD TV specifications but fact is that external resolution depends on three options:
graphic card driver, graphic card and the external device connected to notebook/computer.

So if your TV does not support an higher resolution, you will not be able to choose another resolution.
If your TV supports higher resolution but the graphic card driver and graphic chip would not support higher resolution, you will also not be able to use it.

I have been using my Satellite Pro R50 (Windows 8.1 64bit) for about a year now and there is an problem I am struggling to solve.

Whenever I plug a HDMI cable into the laptop the machine freezes with a black screen. Removing the cable doesn't return the laptop to its prior state and it will not accept any commands from the keyboard. I'm therefore forced to hard reset the machine.

On this forum (and some others) the first suggestion is often to download the latest Intel drivers, which I have done from this site:

Hello All,

Well this is starting to drive me to distraction and Im hoping theres someone who can put me out my missery lol.

I have been trying to hook my laptop (toshiba satellite pro p300) up to my LCD TV via the same HDMI cable I use for my PS3 but the connector just wont fit. I keep finding all these posts in various forums saying how they cant get sound out the HDMI connection...that would be great, as at least that means they have them connected.

Are there different connections for HDMI? The one I have is diagonal connector but the port on the laptop is more square, and just doesnt fit. So if there isnt a connector, does that mean I have a funky port, on the laptop.

There is also the matter of connection my laptop to my amp that controls the surround sound system. What connection is best to use, as there is no real audio out connections?

Maybe you can also post a picture of the HDMI port. Normally there are no different HDMI ports, all have the same physical dimension.

Regarding the audio connection I use the normal line out port for my external speakers. Did you test this?

When playing video through the HDMI to my TV I am getting horizontal lines from top to bottom.

I have tried changing the refresh rate, changing cables, changing ports different videos and video players and all the same. I have a Hannspree 32 inch 1080p which supports 50HZ and 60HZ.

Any ideas on how to rectify this?

A:Satellite P845-10J - HDMI to TV - horizontal lines from top to bottom

Resolution should be set to the TV's native resolution. Assuming it's a native 1080P screen, that would be (1920x1080). Verify in the User Manual or by looking up the model both the screens native resolution and the supported input resolution. Refresh rate will depend on your region. The US and other NTSC regions use 60hz.

Aside from that, test the TV using a different computer/device on that port.

The problem started as a HDMI-cable was plugged into my running Satellite T130-17E and the screen was closed down. From that point the notebook screen stopped working. When booting the windows start-up logo is on for a couple of seconds and just before the entering the desktop the cursor is visible on the screen. But except from these short moments there is no action on the notebooks screen. When I reinstalled the driver to the graphic card there was some short moments (less than 0,5 sec) when the screen was active.

I can use the notebook without any problems via HDMI to my TV. And when I adjust the screens brightness (FN+F6/F7) the black screen can get more back-lighted.

When I turn off the HDMI-output or plugs it out - nothing happens on the notebooks screen.

Can some of you please try to help me out as I really need my notebook to work normal again. If you can help me sort out this problem I'll be very grateful-

Kind Regards,

I need support, I'm getting CRAZY!

I bought an screen 27" to connect via HDMI to my laptop, I tried in the store and the display worked straight ahead just connecting the HDMI.
They sent me a few days later a brand new one, and for my surprise it doesn't work.

I know that my laptop works perfectly fine, I connect it regularly to the TV, using the same cable, and the screen works with other computers.

I found in Toshiba's website an update for display drivers, Intel (R) HD Graphics.
Right after the installation of this drivers the screen works!

I can see the duplicate of the image, no issue, but then, I have to restart the computer to save the changes.

Upon the restart, the image isn't seen any more, Intel Graphics doesn't recognize any other output, the screen shows a clear message that there's not HDMI signal coming.

if I reinstall the drivers, the screen comes to life again, only delaying the restart action I get it to work for a while. In the last try I made it didn't last longer than 15' about.

I've also looked into the website of Phillips (brand of the screen), found a pack to update the screen drivers for Windows 8. But my system answers that is all up to date...

What happens if you use the FN + F4 (or only F4) key combination?
Does it switches between the internal and external display?

The FN + F4 changes the active display device. To use a simultaneous mode, you must set the resolution of the internal display panel to match the resolution of the external display device.

Hello everybody,

I just bought a "half" of an U920T: a laptop without the display(which was literally ripped off, you could see the bent hinges and what is left of the cable).
It's a great piece of hardware and I can use it with an external monitor, thanks to the HDMI connection.

What is the problem?
I only get video signal on the HDMI display, when windows(10) is loaded.

What do I want?
I would very much like to access the bios settings and set the primary output to HDMI, if possible.

I have already tried:
- removed the display cable from the mainboard
- using the F4 and the Fn+F4 to switch between displays. (it only works in windows)
- using the Toshiba System Settings Windows App. (there is no "video output" setting there)

Would any of you who have a similar model be so kind as to:
1. Check their bios to see if the option is available?
2. Upload a picture with the location of this setting in bios, or even better a video?

Thank you!!

When I connect my notebook to the TV using HDMI the sound does not come from the TV it comes from the notebook. Also, when I go on to manage audio devices in my Control panel the TV does not show up even in the disable and hidden list. I am not sure if this relates to the issue but I have a code 10 on my HD audio driver if that does anything to affect the sound. Please help

A:No Sound from TV when i connect with HDMI

Hi: Yes, that is the problem (code 10). Since the graphics drivers are fine, let's not mess with those by running the graphics driver file. Let's just play with the HDMI audio driver file inside the Intel graphics driver. First, download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd line is for 64 bit. After you install 7-Zip, download and save, but do not run this graphics driver. This package provides the driver that enables the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver. File name: sp72370.exe After you download and save the above graphics driver file, right click on it, and select 7-Zip from the list of items. Have 7-Zip extract to:  and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp72370). Once that is done, go to the device manager and click on the problem HD audio device. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install. Then restart the PC, and you should be good to go.

So, as the title says I'm having trouble with the connection from my laptop to my tv through hdmi, and I've tried quite a few things to solve the problem, but I'm not the most gifted person with computers or technology as a whole, I've simply run out of ideas.

Before I moved out from my parents' house in november, I'd lent a tv of theirs (a non-smart lg tv) that worked perfectly with my current laptop and hdmi, so I had to get a new tv+hdmi. So I went out and bought a new tv (LG 42LF580V). After a week it stopped being able to connect with my new 5 metre hdmi cable, so I went out and got another hdmi cable (also 5 metres). That worked for about 2 days and then that also stopped working, so I figured it was the tv. I sent it back and ordered a new tv (Samsung UE40J5515). I never got that to work with my hdmi cables and laptop, so I sent that back too. Some time in the middle of all that I've had my laptop connected to various things at school through hdmi, and I've also had it connected to both my neighbour's and my friend's tv so see if something was wrong with my laptop, but I had no problem with that.

Xmas was approaching and as I went back to my parents' house on holiday, I of course brought my laptop and one of the first things I did was connect it to the non-smart lg tv that I used to use. It connected instantly and worked without any problem at all for the next two weeks until I had to go home.

A:I can't connect my laptop to my tv via hdmi?

A solution I've not yet tried is to get a vga to hdmi cable instead of hdmi to hdmi. I honestly don't know the difference or if that could work, but if anyone knows, I'd love to hear it.

A:Building a PC to connect to HD TV via HDMI

Personally I would go for a Gigabyte board if you can find one that suits your needs. I have generally found them to be better quality than Asus, you may well get similar answers from others on here, especially if you have that sort of money to spend on it.

maybe something like: which is a bit cheaper but probably better (in my opinion).

I also, personally, think ATI have the edge with graphics at the moment. I have always been a bit of an NVidia fan but the general concensus seems to go toward ATI currently.

What other specs are you looking at, I am assuming your are looking at around £1500-£2000 easy, for the full rig if you are spending that much on the graphics card and motherboard alone, wish I had that sort of money to spend on a PC haha.

I am trying to connect my Laptop Dell XPS M1730 windows 7 (2x 8800M GTX cards) - to my HD ready TV from LG.

If I use a HDMI calbe directly from my desktop pc, it works perfectly (I don't even need to turn down my resolution)

But my laptop does not have an HDMI port. So I bought a DVI-D(single) to HDMI cable. And connected them up.
- The TV detected something. And then said "no signal" on the screen.
- My laptop screen went black when I connected.

Do anyone know how to fix this? Am I using the wrong cable?
DVI-Digital Single link to HDMI is the cable I am using.
The laptop has DVI Female connector.

The exact cable I am using below in the picture:

A:Can't connect DVI-D(single) to HDMI on TV

When you try this, what resolution and refresh rate is your monitor on your laptop running?

What is the native resolution of your TV?

I've seen some strange things when connecting up to a TV from a laptop where either the TV can't handle the resolution/refresh rate that the laptop is pushing out or the laptop can't push the right resolution/refresh rate.

It's an unlikely solution, given that you have good video cards in the laptop - but try this - set the resolution as low as you can set it - 1024x768 for example, and the refresh rate as high as you can - 75hz, for example. Then plug in the TV. If that works you may need to play around with the resolutions to see what happens.

Also, when you connect the laptop - and if the screen goes black on it - hit windows key + P, then hit the "right arrow" key on your keyboard once, and then hit enter. That might switch the display back to the computer - if it works you can then troubleshoot further.

I've connected my HDMI-cable to my PC (graphic card EAH5770) and to my TV (Sony Bravia 26'', about three years old) but I can't choose the TV as my other display from Catalyst Control Center or from Windows' display preferences when they are connected. What should I do to get it to work?

EDIT: In other words my computer doesn't recognize the TV and I don't know why. And here's some specs if they help in any way.

A:Can't connect my PC (with EAH5770) to TV via HDMI

Confused. Do you have a display running already, and this is a second monitor? Or is this the only one?
I assume it is a second monitor, as you say you cannot see it, which implies you have a screen to see it on. try using ONLY the HDMI connection, see what happens then, ensuring that the TV is set to the correct input. I have a triple monitor set, and th eHDMI has had no detection problem so far. The only thin gI can think of is to change the first monitor to the second DVI slot. the 5770 should have 2 dvi and 1 hdmi i believe, one of the dvi is actually an alternative input for the HDMI.

Putting it simply ( I confused myself, there!) try just the HDMI. That should work fine, then plug in the second monitor.
If that does not work, or you get nothing for the HDMI, try the DVI in the second slot. Either way, should cure it.

So my TV stopped working and I'm wanting to connect my PS4 to my computer monitor via HDMI. The problem is that I don't think my computer even recognizes my HDMI for some reason. Nothing.  Any suggestions?

HiI bought this laptop last week and have attempted to connect it to my TV to use as an external display as I used to do with my old Dell laptop but have been unable to do it. I know 'how' to do it but when I connect the HDMI, it just doesn't detect the signal so I am unable to select any of the options (Extend/ Duplicate etc). I have tried looking at the Graphics Properties to no avail. I just can't find the option to change anything that will actually make it worse. The HDMI cable definitely works (I have tried it with another device and it worked fine). Can I have some advice please? I'll also stress again that this is a brand new laptop suggesting that all drivers etc are up to date. ThanksAlex

Hi all,

I'm a bit desperate so I came here hoping to find some answers.

So I wanted to connect a second monitor (which is a TV screen) to my PC to watch movies, but suddenly my PC wont send any signal to my TV, so I tried connecting all kinds of HDMI cables to all kind of TVs/monitors laying around in the house, and my conclusion is that whenever I tried to connect a second monitor with HDMI directly to my PC it wont show anything and it also doesn't show up in my Display settings on my PC. So from what I can tell the problem lays with the PC itself (within windows probably).

I have up to date display drivers so that is not the problem.

Also something worth mentioning is that my main PC monitor is connected with DVI, and the DVI connector works just fine on every device.

Hope someone can help me find an answer soon!

Hi TejeIf you roll back the AMD Display Adapter driver to the previous version the HDMI output will work again. That's what I discovered when I could not access my Epson Projector. There must be a glitch in the new driver which was issued by AMD in March 2016. CheersWAR1

I have a quick question. My new graphics card has a HDMI port and I was wondering if there is any advantage of using that port to connect my graphics card to my monitor over the normal DVI port? Is it worth buying the cable that I would need to do this>

A:Use HDMI or DVI to connect monitor to computer.

The only difference is HDMI carries audio and video and DVI carries Video only.

Hello everyone!!
When I connect the PC with the HDMI cable (video card port//gtx760) to the TV, it doesn't detected it and brings me this message: "This source is not connected. Check the connection status."
Instead if I connect the HDMI cable to the PC (through motherboard port) the TV detects the presence of the cable, but without working (and if it did, however, the resolution would be bad).
So my question is: why the TV does not detect the PC while is connected through the HDMI cable? And what can I do to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there @johnjpas34,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are having an issue with getting a display connected with HDMI to come up. I am happy to help with this. First, check out this: HP Desktop PCs - Connecting Monitors and TVs to Your PC (Windows 10, 8). Then be sure you have the drivers for the display installed. If there are not drivers specific to Windows 10, then try installing the older drivers using compatibility mode in Windows 10/ Please let me know how that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Hi there

Now that's a different issue completely --some of these VGA==>HDMI video converters aren't much use I'm afraid. - I had one ages ago but could never get it to work -- what you could try though is see if your computer can set to DUAL monitors first and then try and use one as the primary. I think (if I remember W7) that Windows + P key scrolls through the external monitor settings.

With VGA output from one of those converters you won't get 1080p - you might have to set your TV to a much lower resolution than 1920 X 1080.

Hello. I use Windows Vista on a nearly 6 year old Acer Aspire 5930.

My old monitor stopped working, so I borrowed one from a friend. That will connect through VGA(my old cable), but for some reason everything got a greenish look, impossible to use for anything besides reading.

So I also borrowed his HDMI-cable. I connect them both, it makes the sound indicating it's connected, but nothing happens. If I have both VGA/HDMI at the same time the VGA works. If I remove VGA it won't work. I've tried numerous different combinations of this.

I've tried the Fn+F5 thing. Only works with the VGA.

Tried rebooting it, both with VGA and HDMI connected. Same result.

I'm fairly certain I've connected this pc to a tv 2 years ago, but then the sound didn't work, but the visual was working fine.

I've cracked the screen on the laptop. Everything I've been trying I've done with VGA connected.

The video driver is up to date.

The monitor is definitely working on a different pc. The VGA is probably working. My old monitor died due to power failure(It just turned off and won't come back on) so there's no reason to believe the VGA-cable isn't broken either.

A:Won't connect laptop to monitor with HDMI

This is one old box and I'd suggest that the integrated video chip is nearly dead or at least the HDMI aspect of it is.

I ran over to CompUSA and purchased a VGA to HDMI Converter box. Set me back $100 not to mention the cables to hook it all up.

Once I got home, I followed the instructions in the converter box. I turned off both devices... plugged in the wires... turned on the computer and set dual output... turned on the TV and set to HDMI input. The TV says no signal. And, yes... the converter box is plugged in an turned on as well.

I know the VGA output works on the computer because we use it at work all the time. At work, we use a VGA output converter that has to connect to a USB as well that sends the video over ethernet.

I've tried messing around with display settings as far as resolution, etc., but can't get anything to happen.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you test the setup using a specific combination ofResolution, Frame rate and interlaced/non-interlaced settings that you know is supported by the TV? The TV's specifications should list it's native video format support as well as any alternate video formats.

It was my understanding that the HDMI connecting cable carried both video and audio. I have purchased a Dell XPS Laptop that has the HEMI connector.

Connected it to my Sony Bravia 42" TV and the Windows Desktop was truly amazing to see. My problem is that the only audio I am getting is from the speaker in the Dell Laptop.

I was surprised that there was no sound (along with the video)!!!

Does it make sense to buy a mini plug for stereo to come out of the Dell Laptop and that split to a right and left channel to run through my sound sytem.

I think this might work but why am I not getting sound through the HEMI connection?

If anyone has dealt with this, I would sure appreciate any ideas.

You?re going to want to get into your audio settings and make sure your HDMI is set to send sound to your device.

If you are running Vista, right-click your speaker icon in the taskbar and select ?Playback devices? from the menu. From there, a window will open and should list your audio devices. Highlight ?Digital Output Device (HDMI)? in the list and hit the ?set as default? button. Also, right-click and make sure the device is enabled.

What me and my father tried, was that we tried opening windows media center (Since we have windows vista). We have been trying for 4 hours now, using a bunch of different methods. I'm not that very techie (Which is why I'm asking you guys) so I'll use the best terms I can. My main question is, how do I make my Xbox 360 screen appear on my monitor so I can play it.
Sidenote:If this actually works is there a way I can record what I'm playing?

Thank you all in advance.

A:Can't connect Xbox 360 to HDMI Computer Monitor.

Bit confused here. Why are you plugging it into the computer? Can you not just plug it into the monitor? Most have several ports, think one of them should work for you- lots have a HDMI input, that may be your solution.

I have an i5-based DG67BL intel motherboard computer that has a DVI and HDMI ports with one DVI monitor connected to the DVI port.

I added an GeFORCE 210 graphics card to it that has a VGA and a DVI ports and connected additional two monitors to it.

So far computer is working fine with three monitors configured in windows as extended desktop.

This motherboard has just one PCIeX16 slot. It has 2 PCIeX1 and a PCI slot that are vacant.

I need to connect yet another DVI monitor. I took a HDMI<->DVI cable, connected it to the onboard HDMI port. the monitor was not detected.

I tried various combinations of monitors and bios settings in vain. Under no circumstances the HDMI port drove the DVI monitor.

The cable is working fine elsewhere.

What did I do wrong ? Is there something I need to buy/replace for this to work ?

Thanks !

A:How to connect additional DVI monitor to HDMI port

you 'need' to connect a 4th monitor? I recommend getting graphics card(s) to support your endeaver, but up to you.

Why don't you get a dvi to vga or maybe its a vga to dvi cord and connect the dvi monitor to the graphics card vga port?

Does it have to go into the HDMI port? HDMI carries sound as well as the video signal, dvi only carries video, and vga carries a lesser quality video

I have a Yoga 11s that started having hdmi connection issues about a year ago and has recently quit connecting to an external monitor via HDMI completely. We tried upgrading to Windows 10 to see if that would overwrite any software issues - no luck. The HDMI port actually appears loose. I did an extensive search of the forum and found posts that recommended cutting down the rubber around the base of the hdmi cord - tried that and at least I had a little activitiy - in the upper right hand corner of the external monitor up popped a box that says DVI then VGA then HDMI - but then says No Signal. Tried the graphics card update recommended on a post from long time ago and a popup indicated I had a newer version already installed. I have taken it to a laptop repair place - said they couldn't get parts from Lenovo. I found an "authorized" Lenovo repair shop locally - when I called they said they only work on business machines Called Lenovo and they told me to take it to Best Buy - however since I purchased this directly from Lenovo, Best Buy said they can't work on it. I would rather not send it into Lenovo because they tried to charge my hubby hundreds of dollars when his 15 day brand new laptop quit working, claiming damage - luckily extensive pictures taken and dated prior to sending it in thwarted that attempt at extortion. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need to be able to do presentations and work remotely with this so it is no... Read more

Hello @Pittmann, Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I have read your post on how you are looking to connect your desktop computer to a Samsung TV using an HDMI cable and adapter, and I would be happy to help you! You should be able to connect your computer to your TV using an DVI / HDMI adapter, as long as the adapter is labelled "Active" for both sound and video to be seen and heard. You will also need to ensure that the specific DVI connector fits the pin configuration of the adapter. I hope this helps! Best Regards

I purchased a new monitor and desktop and I'm confused as to why I can't get the monitor to connect with a HMDI cord. I know the monitor works fine. I even got it to work with my old computer with a HDMI cord. But when I plug it into this new desktop, the monitor is black with a message that says 'Check Video Cable!'  I'm a little worried that there's something wrong with the desktop itself and it's not booting up properly (which is why nothing is appearing on the monitor) The power button is lit up(plus the bottom of mouse is lit red and the dvd tray opens) but it seems pretty quiet. Hi there. I have a problem that just presented itself in the last 24 hours. I have previously connected my laptop computer to my HDTV via the HDMI port on a regular basis but randomly as of last night my laptop will no longer acknowledge that the HDMI is connected to the HDTV. I have tested 2 different HDMI cables to be sure they are working properly as well as all 3 ports on my HDTV and made sure the TV was on the correct input. I have not done any updates/installations/uninstalls/deletions/resolutions changes or anything else that could have prompted this issue. I double checked my graphics card drivers, which were out of date but I was able to update them. I have cleaned my registry, did a system restore, checked for viruses/malware/spyware, power drained, and rebooted multiple times.

On, what I would call, a related note... The online game that I play has also started having problems when I run it. This started the exact same time that my laptop's HDMI would no longer connect to my HDTV, hense the belief of relation. The game has become extremely laggy dropping me down to 2-3 fps. I can drop my video settings down to minimum and be lag free, however, I have been playing the game on this same laptop for 8 months on the highest ultra settings with absolutely no problems until whatever occurred last night.

These 2 things lead me to believe it is a graphics card problem. I am currently running NVIDIA GeForce 9400M G. As I said before, I have updated to the most recent ... Read more

This concerns an HP late-model notebook, Win7 Home Prem x64, used as a desktop with HDMI-connected 1080p 21", plus usb mouse/kbd. The goal is to make this as simple as possible: desktop-like. Just turn it on and work.
It seems that either/both coming out of sleep state or simple shutdown and startup the Monitor stays offline because, I suppose, its getting no signal from the notebook. I tried to duplicate this on a dell notebook in my 'lab' but I only have a vga connect to work with - it just works. in fact I have trouble with the usb port but not with the monitor persisting.

is there a chance there is some interplay between vendor/maker-specific implentations, plus perhaps the embedded Intel HD video controller?

A:How to make HDMI-connect Ext Monitor persist?

this could be an external device problem, somehow messing up allocation of resources @ boot. my brother has a new i7 super machine, hooked up with a monitor(dvi) and an hdmi bigsceen hooked up as well.
no problems. then he hooked up a firewire card-hooked up to an external mixer, something like that. he had identical/very similar issues. when we troubleshot, i first said eliminate any possibilities no matter how remote.

long story short.

when the external device is powered up his main monitor did not work when coming out of hibernate mode. with it off(not the card just the devise) all is well.

from what i could assertain, didn't sound like your problem. i know this sort of deal does not usually occur with printers and scanners. but it is somewhere to start(or end if nothing else is hooked up in such a fasion).

good luck dude

Hi all,

Hoping some one can help me with this. I own the ACER AS3810T laptop and it has one HDMI output. When I connect to my LG 42" LCD TV using HDMI, the screen goes blank and TV says no signal and i have to force shut down in order for the laptop to work again. When I connect to the TV and start the tablet, I can see starting Windows on both screens. Seems once Windows is loaded, I get no signal on the TV from the tablet.

It was working perfectly before i switced from Vista to 7.

The graphics card is an Intel GMA 4500MHD.

In there anything i can do to fix this.

Thank you all for any kind of help.

A:ACER HDMI doesnt connect to TV after changing from Vista to 7

Does it actually say "no signal" on the tv once the splash screen loads?

Also, you need to setup the tv in the Intel HD Graphics console. Click on Intel HD Graphics>Graphics Prperties>Display>Multiple Displays>Operating Mode>Clone Displays.

Within the last week I have started having this problem with my laptop where I plug it in to my tv with the HDMI cable, I get the video but the sound plays through my laptop. In the sound settings the hdmi says that its not plugged in.
I have tried everything including rebooting the laptop with the hdmi plugged in and with it out. I have also tried rolling back and restoring my laptop and i have not installed any new software.
The only thing that works is uninstalling realtek audio driver and rebooting my laptop each time play something through my tv. I have tried this on my parents tv and it still happens so its got to be the laptop. The laptop is a custom laptop.
Please Help!

A:Having to reinstall audio driver every time I connect HDMI

Why not just disable the sound/Realtek function if you aren't going to use it?
You can disable it/renable it any Device Manager.
No need to uninstall drivers, if disabled.
