Yes that is the memory you need and yes, with 32 bit Windows only about 3.5 to 4 gigs can be used. To go higher you need a 64 bit operating system.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

My Probook 4520s suddenly stopped working.  After reading up I checked the power button and found it was faulty.  I used the power button from  my other probook 4520 s and it worked.  So I purchased a new one.  Now nothing happens.  Will not power up.  I checked the new button and it works on the other Probook 4520s and it works fine.  I have changed the battery as well and still nothing.  Any advise?

My Microsoft Lumia 532 Dual Sim mobile when connected to my ProBook via a USB 2 port (also USB 3) is not seen by Windows 10 as a device. My Windows has all known updates. My Lumia 532 runs Windows Phone 8.1 Update. I urgently need to back up the contacts on my mobile (possibly using PhoneCopy) . Could this be caused by a USB driver for the ProBook not being up to date? If so where do I go to, to download the latest driver? Or are there special settings either on the Lumia or in Windows which enable USB commincation? Ideas desperately needed please! Many thanks...

Hello Guys!!!

I have HP Probook 4520s. I have 9 cell 7200mAh battery installed on my laptop. My laptop doesn't start up when i press power button while on battery power. When i press power button LED light (where charger cable connected) blinks four or five times and stops and laptop doesn't start but when i connected charger (AC Power) then it starts up and works normally. I am facing this problem from about a month and it doesn't solved. Please help me to solve my problem.....I am waiting for your replies.....Thanks!!!

A:HP Probook 4520s doesn't start!!!

Laptop batteries can suddenly fail without warning. Or over time they can slowly lose their ability to hold a charge. The fact that your laptop powers up when connected to AC power seems to support the idea that the battery suffered a complete failure.

Just to play it safe and not risk damaging the laptop's internal electronics, I'd remove the battery and run on AC only. If you have access to another battery from the exact same model laptop, you could substitute that battery for yours and see if your laptop works. If it does, you'd be pretty safe in saying your battery is dead. If you don't have access to another battery, you could take it to a local repair facility and ask them to check it. I think most shops will do this for free as a courtesy (at least the shops where I live do it that way.)

If you want to replace the battery, and if your laptop is still under warranty, buy an HP battery so you don't void the warranty. If it's no longer under warranty, or if you don't care, you can probably find a generic battery for a lot less money. Just remember: you get what you pay for and non-genuine batteries could have their own compatibility issues.

Heya  I have lately been trying to upgrade my boyfriends computer to Windows 10 64x.It is currently running on Windows 10 32x, but it should according to information found online be able to upgrade to 64x, and it says it is capable to do so in the system specifics.  However, when I try to boot from USB with the Windows 10 installation properly installed on it, the computer turns itself off when the Windows Corporation loading screen shows up. The same also happens when I have tried to do a factory reset on the computer, booting in safe mode and the like, it just completely shuts itself off at the moment Windows Corporation and the loading screen shows up.  Any ideas of what is wrong or what I can do to get around this issue? Any other workarounds I could do? I know the computer is old now, and that the issue may be unfixable, but I am willing to give most ideas a shot at this point.

I'm having trouble running a video-intensive software (xtranormal state) on my laptop. The DxDiag reports

Code:
Dedicated Memory: 64 MB
Shared Memory: 1632 MB
I have 4 gigs of ram, so I thought that would give me enough processing power, but what I posted above is the only thing that seems to be low. Does the dedicated memory just too low, or is the shared memory what I should be looking at?

Thanks.

In your case, the dedicated memory is for your video chip on your motherboard. It has 64 MB of RAM all to itself, and it will, if necessary, use up to 1632 MB system RAM, however system RAM is significantly slower than graphics RAM thus helps very little.

Essentially, there's not much you can do since it's a laptop. None of the HP ProBooks are capable of heavy graphics apps. The EliteBooks would do a better job of it, but you're looking at a good $1500 to get comfortable.

If you need a laptop from HP that plays well with graphics intensive apps, the HP Envy series will do you much better.

Dear friends, I have an HP Probook 4520s with I5 and 4gb ram and Seven 64bit.

Now my laptop show me an error in the original DVDRAM GT30L. It seems unable to install the original driver of the original HP DVD Recorder.

I tryed to download a new driver from intel but ... I can't use the DVD with Seven.

The DVD is in perfect working conditions because with Ubuntu it works perfectly.

Someone can help me to fix the problems? This problems seems appear after an update from Microsoft.

A:HP Probook 4520s and DVDRAM GT30L error 19

If you think the update installed another driver for you DVD player, you could try to go to properties in device managet and try to roll back the driver. Failing that, if you know the proper driver, select update driver, select choose from my computer, then select let me choose. The program will show all appropriate drivers installed in your computer. If that doesn't correct the problem, download the driver from HP. It should have an .exe file that will install without the DVD.

A:Restore HP Probook 4520s to factory settings

Hi, See if you can remove the Admin Password - see Here.  When done, try option 1 in my previous post.  Otherwise, the only other options are to order Recovery Disc, or if notebook came with Windows 7, try the following. There may be a work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need. If you have access to this, just use the retail disc to perform the installation, enter the activation key found on the underside of your notebook when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations. http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx Any additional drivers you may need can be found starting Here. Regards, DP-K?

Dear All,

i have a HP Probook 4520s (now out of warranty) and i want to bring the same to factory condition bcoz of virus issues.

Now, on various forums i read there is an option of F11 for recovery manager, which is not working in my case.

1) In Disk management I can see my recovery partition (15 gb) but with no option of making it active.

2) My recovery partion is more like a folder in C: HP_RECOVERY_mountHPSF

What can be the best way to restore to the factory condition. This is a legitimate Windows 7 copy and therefore i do not want to install some other copy, also there could be issues with drivers and all.

I would really appreciate if the forum members can help me in resolving the issue.

Regards,

Nik

Hello, recently I tried to upgrade a HP Probook 4520s from Windows 10 32xbit to Windows 10 64xbit.Of course there is no way of doing that without doing a complete reinstall of Windows, but when trying to do that the computer would crash and just turn itself off when trying to revert or do a clean reinstall. From an earlier post here, I learned that reinstalling Windows on the computer would be impossible, as the harddrive came installed with Windows 7 and would therefore not be able to revert back to Windows 7 after having been upgraded Windows 10, as far as I could understand. I'm now again trying to upgrade the computer again, and have a new harddrive I can use to exchange with the old one.The thing is, once I have the new harddisc put into the computer, trying to boot Windows 7 or 8 from USB just makes the computer crash, in the same way it did when trying to revert back to an earlier Windows version with the old harddrive. What am I doing wrong here, and what can I do to fix this? Is it totally impossible for this computer to have Windows 10 64x installed at this point, without taking it in for repairs?

Hi: The only suggestion I can offer would be to try installing W10 by using a DVD instead. Use the media creation tool to make an ISO file so you can burn it to a DVD. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 If your pc previously had W10 on it and was succesfully activated, you can directly install W10 without having to first install W7, W8 or W8.1. Just select the 'I don't have a product key' option instead of entering a W10 product key (which you don't have).

Hello dear community  Long story short: I have a HP ProBook 4520s and yesterday I manually upgraded it (with the tool provided by MS) from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. Everything went fine and smooth and it works perfectly good so far.The problem is that some of the features of the laptop don't work anymore. Here are a few examples:- scroll option on the touchpad- built-in camera- some of the FN buttons like the one for screen brightness while others (such as the volume and e-mail) work My reasoning is that it's either missing some drivers or these functions are somehwat not compatible with the new OS (it's a 5+ year-old PC after all), but I might be wrong. Hello everyone. I'm thinking about exchanging the Wireless-Network Card in my Probook 4520s, because of the low data throughput. So I searched for a while for a 5 Ghz supporting Card and found out, that I'm only able to get "whitelisted" Cards working. So I looked at this page:http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c02487851&jumpi...These Cards might be all, that were used in the 4520s. Mine (according to the device-manager) is the Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n. This thing only supports 2.4 Ghz. Now I looked at the list for a 5 Ghz supporting Card. I think the 802.11A/B/G/N WLAN Intel HMC minicard 572520-001 could run on 5 Ghz, because I read, that A is only listed with 2.4/5 Ghz Cards. Also I read, that 2.4/5Ghz cards have 3 antennas, but on this card I only the the slots for 2. Is this right? And would this Card run in my 4520s? Greetings,Colonie

A:ProBook 4520s - Exchanging the Wireless-Network Card

Hi, Colonie: You are absolutely correct regarding your statement about the dual band cards being described as A/B/G/N. The easiest thing to do is to look at chapter 3 of your service manual. You can only order one of the cards listed as supported and it MUST have the HP part number on it or it will not work. I only see two choices for you... The Intel 6200 and the Broadcom 4322.  Make sure you also get the part # that corresponds to what country you live in. If your current Broadcom card has integrated Bluetooth, you will lose your Bluetooth capability unless you order an HP integrated bluetooth module and probably the cable too. None of the dual band cards have onboard bluetooth. Link to the service manual. http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02439213/c02439213.pdf Then you can order a card at the link below. If you don't live in the United States, you can change the country at the top of the page to yours. http://h20141.www2.hp.com/Hpparts/Default.aspx?mscssid=6857BCBBC4CD4470B9282F130A563697 Paul

Bought two farily expensive OEM PH09 extended life batteries from an authorized HP vendor online eight months ago for a conference. Used each battery twice over the course of four days. One then sat in my laptop unused for a couple months after that, and when I next turned it on, the laptop reported it as "0% available (plugged in, not charging)". I assume it discharged completely, even though the laptop was off or hibernating. Battery reports same condition on friend's ProBook. OEM power supply charges the other battery (and my original battery) fine. On plugging in the power cord, I get a brief orange flash from the charging light above the port, then nothing. Updated the laptop BIOS, no joy. Have deleted the battery items in Device Manager, no joy. Have booted without battery and added, booted with it and removed it, all the combinations, no joy. Installed the HP Support Assistant and ran the battery check and it reports "The battery is functioning correctly, but it has not been charged recently. The battery should be charged completely before removing the AC adapter." Thanks :-). Research suggests some chip in the battery itself has simply "turned off". I asked the vendor for help, they said call HP. Took a long time to reach someone at HP, they said talk to the vendor. Vendor then said there's only a 90-day warranty on batteries, and basically bugger off. I still have my original sales receipt. Can I send this battery in to HP for a replacement? Hello all,I have been plagued with an issue.Upon plugging the charger into my laptop, regardless of power setting, the cpu speed will slowly plummet to 101mhz regardless of usage.I have checked and double checked the Minimum and Maximum processor state options to try and alleviate it but these have no change, the problem only occurs when windows is booted outside of safe mode.Cpu/gpu temperatures appear to be within their normal ranges, however the cpu speed will ascend to the normal 2.53 ghz once the battery charge has reached 67-69%,hwmonitor shows voltages within normal ranges, and the battery at 0% wear.Changing the Maximum/Minimum processor states will temporarily raise the cpu speed to normal for roughly 5 minutes, then it begins a slow descent to 101mhz,any help will be appreciated!

Just recently my HP ProBook 4520s, running Windows 7 32-bit, has had trouble connecting to the internet through WiFi. I've been reading into it and looking around the net, but to no avail. It shows my home network and connects, but with limited access (no access to the net in my case).

I did a system restore in hopes that it would fix the problem, and I got access for all of 30 seconds before it went back to limited connectivity. I manually updated the network card drivers, and still nothing. It's leading me to believe that its my router blocking access (Netgear WNDR3700). I haven't had a problem up until recently and its only with the laptop. My desktop PC, game consoles, and television can all still access the internet, with the desktop connecting through WiFi as well. I checked the router logs and noticed several DoS attacks and was thinking this may have something to do with it (and possibly laptop being infected?).

While upgrading my ProBook 4520s from Windows 7 pro 64 to Windows 10 pro 64 the laptop froze. It appears that it was caused by the Ralink RT3090 wifi chip driver that comes with Windows 10. I have replaced it with another driver and the upgrade worked fine. The procedure I followed was as follows: - Disable the wifi/bluetooth combo in the BIOS settings. - Goto control panel - Windows upgrade and start the listed Windows 10 upgrade- After Windows 10 has been installed, download the Ralink RT3090 driver from: http://mediatek.com/en/downloads1/downloads/pcimpcicbrt2860rt2760rt2890/ fill in a name, email address and the captcha to start the download of the driver package. Note that Mediatek bought Ralink a few years ago so this site is from the manufacturer or the Ralink RT3090 wifi chip used in the laptop. - Unpack the driver package in a folder.- Select Windows key + R, enter msconfig and run it- Select to start Windows 10 in safe mode after the next boot - Select to reboot the PC- When the PC restarts but before Windows 10 starts up, enter the BIOS settings by pressing escape- Enable the wifi/bluetooth combo in the BIOS settings- Save the BIOS settings and exit- Windows will start in safe mode- Install the new driver by running setup.exe in the folder where the driver package was unpacked- Select Windows key + R and enter msconfig and configure to start Windows normally after the next boot- Reboot It appears that the ProBook 4520s c... A:BIOS LOCKED 4520s

Hi, Unfortunately,  business machines such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models - they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial No. and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case. If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password. Regards, DP-K

I need to upgrade the ram and the harddrive of an HP Probook 4520s, and I do not want to void the warranty.Knowing that I will have to remove the switchcover, the keyboard and the palmrest. Would it be possible to take it to hp hardware support to do the upgrade for me, or is that not supported under warranty ? What are my options ?

A:Would replacing ram on HP 4520s void warranty?

Hi: According to the manual, I do not see where you need to remove the palmrest. You remove the battery, switchcover and slide the keyboard toward the display, carefully flip it over and you should see the memory modules under there. I do not believe you need to disconnect the keyboard. Just leave it flipped over and change out the memory. See the note, NOT to remove the ribbon unless you are replacing the keyboard, which you are not. You will not void the warranty unless you physically damage any of the parts you removed, or physically damage the memory slots. HP isn't going to pay if you break the switch cover in half for example. HP may do it for you, but you will pay a good amount of money for the service.  Upgrades are not part of the warranty coverage. Paul

Hello!
My HP Probook 4520s doesn't show my wireless connection on the list, although the signal is on full strength on all other devices. My computer shows many other wireless connections in the area, just not mine!
I had this problem with my computer before, but back then I just used LAN-stick instead. This time I don't have this option so I really need to get the problem fixed.

A:My HP 4520s doesn't find my wireless internet!

can we see an xirrus screen shot

whats the name of your wireless signal?
what channel are you using on the router for wireless - some channels are not available above 11 in some countries

Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

Direct link to the program is here http://info.xirrus.com/Wi-FiInspectorConfirmation.html

{If the above link does not work heres another link http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download/fid,77196-order,4/download.html}

Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You need will need to have NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

I want to install the latest drivers. but what do I do if the discrete supports them, and integration - no.? And how to properly install the driver? Thanks

A:HP Probook 455 G1

Install the AMD driver that is available at the HP Support portal. (If there is not one available, leave the driver installation as it is, unless you mind that it stops working.) It contains the AMD and Intel driver. Do not install the Intel driver seperately. If you do install it seperately, the switchable  grapgics function will no longer operate as expected.

I would like to upgrade the Probook 440 G3 with a secondary storage a  2,5 500 GB SSD.In this notebook primary storage is a 256 GB SSD M.2.Is it possible the installation of both without removing the first  256 GB SSD M.2  (SSD M.2 Primary storage + SSD 2,5 Secondary storage)? If yes is it necessary to buy the Hard drive Hardware Kit (includes bracket and screws)? Thank you

A:Probook 440 G3 SSD Upgrade

See p. 35 of the Manual here: Service Manual There is a SATA hard drive bay and it looks like the SATA connectors on the drive plug directly into the motherboard. The M.2 slot is at right angles and above the hard drive bay so yes, you can have both a 2.5 inch SATA SSD and also the M.2 mSSD. You can just add in the 2.5 inch SATA SSD (or hard drive) and you really do need the hard drive mounting kit otherwise the hard drive will rattle around in the bay and that is not good for the laptop or the drive.  Hard Drive Hardware Kit, includes: 826382-001 http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?type=PROD&SearchText=T8Y22US When you install the SSD or HDD storage drive you will have to initialize and mount it (assign a drive letter) in disk management. I am interested in buying one of these devices however I have some questions: Is there a WWAN module on the Australian version and if not, is there a SIM slot that can be used with 3rd party add-in card? Does the motherboard chipset support USB 3.1, contrary to the specifications listed on the website, i.e. is it the Union Point 200 chipset? Also, there is no information regarding Discrete Graphics, so is the NV-930MX(2GB) actually included? The internal drives are listed as 500GB however the online store says it is 1TB. I'd appreciate some clarification on this as I'd like to know what I am purchasing. Thank you References: http://www8.hp.com/au/en/products/laptops/product-detail.html?oid=10477368#!tab=specs http://h20386.www2.hp.com/AustraliaStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=Z3Y53PA&opt=&sel=NTB

So yesterday I opened my Probook 4540s, and it was at 0% charge (The OS literaly displayed that), which was weird. I tried playing with it a little, I've connected it to a charger, and it did not detect it - and eventually the probook shut down.At this moment the laptop won't turn on, and my guess is it's either the power brick, or the motherboard. I tried replacing the power cable connected to the brick but it didn't quite help. When the power cord is connected to the laptop, the LED blinks each second, but its a weird blink, like not on\off, it's turning on, blinking, turning on, blinking etc, but the laptop isn't charged, it wont start with either the battery connected or without it. Tried hard resetting, didnt work either.Does that sound like more of a motherboard issue? If so, what could I do to fix it? Should it be expensive?

Hey guys, I recently bought ProBook 450 G3 with i3 Skylake processor and 256GB SSD. Dont get me wrong, it is well crafted machine, but one thing gets on my nerves. Due tu specs, I did expect almost complete silence. However, when I am broswing, or even doinn simple things in Office, the fan countinously goes very loudly on and off, for a short period of time (5 sec.) without any reason. The notebooks temperature in that situation is around 40C, but I believe it is not the main factor, since not always when the laptop is over 40C fan kicks in. I mean, it is irregular and I am not able to pinpoint the cause, mainly because there may not be any. As the fan noise is very hearable, it makes working on this laptop in quiet enviroment kind of annoying. I have to add that all drivers and BIOS updated and no obstales are near the vent.  I also tried various power plans etc. Basically all to minimize that behaviour but it still occurs.  Any idea how to solve this is more than appreciated. Thanks in advance!

A:ProBook 450 G3 - Fan going on & off for no reason

I'm having the same problem, in fact I had to exchange a few Probook 450 G3s for various reasons including the weird and overactive fan noise, and all had the same fan issue, makes you doubt the build quality. Hi,I've twice had to exchange a Probook 450 G3, for additional reasons also (faulty power connector), so have had experience with 3 units altogether. All 3 had the same issue, the fan would kick in too often, a few instances a minute, making an up and down whirring sound which was very annoying and distracting. The strange thing is that the fan would kick in when the CPU usage was minimal, <5%, web browsing is the most taxing thing I do, no gaming or intense graphic applications.Never had an issue like this with any other laptop/computer, it's basically brand new so no possibility of dust, too hot environment etc. My 8 year old Dell laptop with much more inferior specs handles these activities easily with infrequent fan noise/activity.The laptop is not getting noticeably hot for the fan to turn on and off so often. Is the G3 so heat inefficient that the CPU gets too hot very easily, or is the fan's thermal sensor temp. range too low and the fan is kicking in unnecessarily? I've updated the BIOS and chipset and already contacted HP support who want me to send it to them, but I explained that this issue happened on all 3 units, revealing that the model design/components could be at fault.Would appreciate any insight/explanation for this.

A:Probook 450 G3 Overactive Fan

I've seen other people complaining about the same issue, so I'm not alone: ProBook 450 G3 - Fan going on & off for no reason Fan making a wavy sound / HP ProBook 430 G3 Laptop's cooling fun speeds up speeds down constantly fan noise HP probook 430 G2 - fan noise probook 450 g2 cooling fan

Hello

Please help me with a problem :
I have conected my laptop with tv and home cinema by hdmi but is working only 2.1
If i go on control panel -sound - ati hdmi output -configure the only option is stereo.
How i can configure to go 5.1 ?

thanks

A:5.1 on hp probook 4720s

On many systems, two channel stereo is all that is available. It can be hardware limitations and with a laptop there isn't much you can do.

I can't find anything on HP or other sites to confirm just stereo, but if that is all you are getting I suspect that is it. This is sold as a "business" laptop so it may not have all the Media features a "non business" or "consumer" model may have.

Hey, this Is my first time posting probably ever in any forum.  Im not a genius when it comes to computers, but I more than get buy.  I have a home studio that I have had for almost 4 years now.  I bought my laptop new for this purpose also 4 years ago.  I needed firewire and couldn't quite afford a macbook or imac plus I am familiar with windows OS.  I could of went with a hub of some sort but my desktops were already full of stuff.  Anyways I bought the HP Probook 6465b after the store owner swearing it would function just as good as a macbook. IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE!  I guess simply for the fact of not going with an intel chip.  My Question, Is there an upgrade im unaware of or a part or two I can buy to fix these issues cheaper than a used macbook or laptop on windows garaunteed to functionas needed?

Hello everyone, So i have a problem with my HP ProBook 4320s, it won't turn on. Here's whats happening when i try to turn it on. When i have the battery in without the recharger and i try to turn it on, the orange LED light for the recharger blinks 8 times and same when i have battery in with recharger plugged in. Note, the orange LED light should stay on when recharger is plugged in and it's recharging the laptop. Now, when i have the battery out and the recharge plugged. The orange LED light doesn't even turn on at all.  Now here's what i have done. I did a hard reset, which i unplugged the recharger and removed the battery from the laptop. I then held down the power button for 60 seconds and after that i plugged in the recharger without the battery and attempted to turn on the laptop. Nothing happens and the oranged LED light doesn't turn on. I then left the recharger plugged in and this time inserted the battery. The laptop still won't turn on but the orange LED light blinks 8 times. Now i've tried this with 2 different recharger and same result above. I can confirm that the 2 recharger is working because the 2 recharger works with my other HP laptop, meaning it was able to recharge my other HP laptop.  My other HP laptop also shares the same recharger as the HP ProBook 4320s by the way.  What i've also done is, i've opened the HP ProBook laptop, took out the RAM and reinserted the RAM and tried the above and same result. I did this... Read more

Is it possible to upgrade to a I"ntel 535 2,5" SSD 480GB"

A:HP ProBook 4530s hdd to ssd

Hi @hulp_gezocht! Yes, you should be able to put a SSD in your notebook, but since there is only one HDD bay and all you need to do replace it with the SSD. Here's the link to the service manual if you want to read ahead on how to remove and replace the HDD, more specifically - page 52:http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03054480.pdf Hope this helps and best of luck!

I had upgraded to Windows 10, that was a mistake in itself because of the mess with the DVD drive and other drivers.  In any event I attempted a full recovery and apparently the inage on the disk was corrupt.  Now I am left with an inoperable system.  Is there somewhere I can download the factory image from the website?  I cannot find the image.  Please help....

A:Probook 450 G1 Recovery

mjs0623 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! While Microsoft tells you that there is no risk in the Win10 Upgrade, because they let you believe that you can always revert back to your original OS and setup within 30 days, the ugly fact of the matter is that the Win10 GoBack function has proven to be unreliable -- and when it fails, it can leave machines in a corrupted state -- which doesn't always happen, but it does happen often enough to be a problem and you won't get any warning in advance that it is going to trash your PC!If that is not bad enough, the Win10 Upgrade is know, in some cases, to corrupt the Recovery partition stored there by the OEM that built the original machine. This pretty much guarantees that no HP Recovery is going to work: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Video-Display-and-Touch/HP-Recovery-Manager-Blocked-After-Windo... Ordinarily, I would recommend using HP Recovery Media to restore your PC to its original condition. That would erase the entire drive, format the drive, and install the OS, the drivers, and the HP utilities.Unfortunately, there is no HP Recovery Media linked to the HP Product Page for your PC. This could be an oversight by HP, or it could also mean that HP no longer stocks the recovery media for your PC. They no long stock recovery media for the older PCs.You can try contacting HP Customer Support directly, using the links below, to see if you can order if from them:If you live in the US or Canada, contact info... Hey all, Nice forum and really have found a lot of useful info here but still need help. My 650 G1 started showing Plugged in / Not Charging.  I found the following link on HP but when I try to run the SP / BIOS update, it tells me that this update (SP67772) is stepping back from what I currently have on this laptop.  Do I do this anyway or is there some other update that needs to be done and I keep my current version? http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c05058319 It was purchased earlier this year and is still under warranty but when I try to do an on-line chat, it tells me that the serial # is not valid but I know it is. Anyway, any help that you all could send my way would be appreciated. Thanks.Frank

i upgraded my system from windows 7 to windows 10 and am having issues with my audio, i troubleshooted and it responded that am missing base system driver and PCI communications driver please what do i do

A:hp probook 6550b

Hi: Your notebook is not supported by HP for W8, W8.1 or W10. The missing devices have no bearing on why the audio is not working. You use the windows 7 drivers for the base system and pci simple comms controller devices. The base system device needs this driver. This package contains the Ricoh Media Card Reader Driver for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The Ricoh Media Card Reader driver enables the integrated media card slot. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp46501-47000/sp46999.exe The PCI Simple Comms Controller needs this driver... This package provides the Intel Management Engine Components Driver and Interface. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/sp59684.exe What is the problem with the audio?  No sound at all? First see if the W7 driver works for the audio too...install and restart the PC. This package contains the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver for the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems.  ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48147.exe If that doesn't fix the sound, I have one other thing you can try.

I am about to order a probook 470 G4 with 256GB SSD. I want to add the harddisk from my old laptop that recently died to add some diskspace in case I need it (I have the disk anyhow). Looking at the service manuals for the G3 and G4 versions of the Probook 470 I see 2 different numbers for the brackets:In the G3 manual I see 828147-001, in the G4 manual it says 906002-001. The part numbers for the hardisks are however the same for both revisions of the 470. That suggests that this is the same or similar part. I cannot find the number mentioned for the G4 online (except in Eastern Europe). the G3 version is however available here in the Netherlands. can somebody explain the difference? Will the 828147-001 fit in the G4?
