Bios update SP76318 and touchpad update SP76497

Q: Bios update SP76318 and touchpad update SP76497

Trying to download these updates. Have left computer on for hours to allow them to complete. It never does. Now I read in another post don't update for updating's sake. If that is the case, how can i tell the HP Support assistant (down in the right hand corner) to ignore these?

My Samsung series 3 laptop has been sending out popup messages telling me I need a bios update, I go to the Samsung software update site and this bios update has been failing, I have made several calls and chats to techs at Samsung who tell me to do what I have already done, they tell to ask for tier 2 tech, who can go in my computer and fix it , When I finally got a tier 2 tech, they told me the same thing, I told him what I had been told about him and what he could do, He said, is it working , I said yes, but settings on computer change on their own, like wifi turns itself on and that concerns me. Anyway, He said that it didn't need a bios update, even the Samsung website said this computer needed a bios update. I posted this on hardware, firmware concerns, and they told me to post here, I was going to go to a site ,that had a download that checked drivers, I was told to stay away from this.

Thanks,
Jim

Hello,

a friend gave me his HP DV6500 Notebook to fix it. He said it made an update and then for hours nothing happened. He shut it and started again.

I could see that it tried to recover 2 times. The second time it was successful but it somehow resetted or returned the Vista to a fresh install!!! His data was locked in a previous User account, I backed it up on a usb-stick with a linux live cd.

I can't make a reinstall because now a bluescreen always appears even when I boot from Vista DVD.

ntoskrnl.exe corrupt when try to boot vista in the normal way.
How can I fix that without being able to use the repair option of the DVD?
Sorry, the title of the thread is wrong. I figured out already that the BIOS version is for an Intel. So everything is ok with the BIOS actually.

Ok, I could fix it after following instructions from this page:

http://www.delmartian.com/nullpoint...0C1F5-0xC1F5-C1F5-BSOD-CLFS.SYS-KB946084.html

The Txf-log had to be removed and afterwards I was able to use the repair function of the Vista DVD again.

Hi Guys,

I have a REAL newbie question. I?ve tried reading a bunch of tutorials, but they?re a little over my head. I think my question is pretty basic, but after a couple hours research, hopefully someone here would be kind enough to help.

I have an M2A-VM motherboard and my system keeps freezing up, no input from keyboard or mouse, no ctl-alt-del, nothing. It freezes intermittently, but never goes more than 3 hours without freezing, sometimes freezes in a few seconds, with 5 ? 10 minutes being the average time it works before freezing. Seems to freeze more (often immediately) when I?m using the mouse than any other time, but it will freeze on it?s own, just idling, if you give it enough time.

I?ve read a few things including updating bios and downloading the latest motherboard drivers. My problem starts when I go to download the mobo drivers from this page:

ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

It lists 41 driver updates there for my motherboard:

41 files found

Qualified Vendor List (1)

BIOS (20) [BIOS History]

BIOS-Utilities (1)

Chipset (1)

AUDIO (1)

LAN (1)

Utilities (2)

Manual (14)

And apparently I?m ?missing? these Windows Updates:

Q934062 - Important
Q936960 - Important
Q950130 - Critical
Q951550 - Important
Q951944 - Important
Q973923 - Moderate

Question #1: Do I download all 41?? Surely my machine can?t need 41 updates? How do I know which ones to download and install?

Question #2: ... Read more

A:Windows Update INCLUDES Motherboard Drivers and BIOS Update on M2A-VM?

I have the same board on another pc.

You only need to download and install only that which would make your setup current.

You really only need to update the bios if you will be moving up to a newer processor that is not currently supported by the current bios or if the newer bios fixes a known problem.

You need the latest motherboard chipset driver. (I would install this first if you haven't already)

You need the latest LAN driver.

The audio driver you can either download from Asus or from RealTek.

I have a HP 2000 Notebook PC that goes in a continue loop with a black screen.  The operating system does not load.  The fan works and the led power light is operational.  A current system check reveals the last bios update being F.20 and UEFI update being 4.3.3.3.  I downloaded the most current BIOS on  an USB drive and attempted the BIOS update.  The BIOS upgrade did not recognize the usb drive and I was unable to load the update.  I downloaded the most current UEFI firmware and want to know how to upload it.  Can anyone provide some assistance?  Thank you and have a great day.

I have, or had a laptop purchased 9 months ago, therefore under warranty. Yesterday the ThinkVantage System Update recommended a BIOS update. After the traditional recommendations about what should not shut down the computer, the laptop is reset and started with the update.

During execution, displayed on a screen command, a message "ERROR XXXX. Press any key to continue." After press the key the laptop was freezedy was completely blocked. After an hour without seeing response and no sign of life, I decided to turn it off to confirm the disaster. The laptop was dead.

The laptop began to beep and would not start. Before the panic generated by the situation, I searched the forums where I found several cases that refer to the same problem and the insinuation that makes LENOVO about the customer's responsibility to avoid recognizing the warranty.

I was not looking for a BIOS update, it was recommended by ThinkVantage System Update, the software executed it and damage the equipment.

Besides being a damage caused by the ThinkVantage System Update, the situation gets worse when the answer given by support insinuates that the customer turn off the computer, so it is a CID (Customer Induced Damage) and therefore the guarantee does not cover it. I do not understand how LENOVO may imply that the responsibility of the customer. Really disastrous.

In conclusion, if you are not needing to make a BIOS update, it is preferable to omit the BIOS update messages given to ThinkVantage System... Read more

I bought this HP Probook 455 G3 and it has just run out of warranty which I intend to renew very soon. I don't like 8.1 or 10 so I spent more than I wanted to and I bought a new Windows 7 lappy that is a business laptop. I always do the recommended updates that I receive by E mail but one I never do which is the Bios update. The last time I did a Bios update on this lappy it wouldn't fire up afterwards. Rang tech help and after going through some troubleshooting it went back for repair. It came back working and luckliy i didn't have many pictures on it.Started from scratch and haven't had a problem since. I am now scared to do the Bios update. And.... Beofre I bought this laptop I bought a Windows 8.1 from HP direct . Hardly use it but update virus protection as necassary and last week there was a Bios update to perform. I also took out another 2 years warranty on it. Same think happened. Last week in fact. Wouldn't fire up afterwards. Again Tech help tried to help but in the end after frequent crashes it went in for repair on Friday. Good job I took out the extra warranty... I am now down to 1 laptop which I do not want to fail on me. I don't seem to have much luck with the Bios updates... Advice please? Is the Bios absolutely essential?

well, they ask for BIOS UPDATE, gather your bios version n brand name, go for appropriate site nd have update..?
but the question that arise in my mind..(being tech student and encounter this bootstrap loader numerous times) is
BIOS IS A "ROM" CHIP, and so we must only be able to read from it..
then how is it possible to write on it and update the BIOS and more over, in my college books i find.. if u want to update your bios then u have to change your entire chip or sometime even motherboard

hopefully i will find sufficient answer.. thanx for anyhelp

Hello to the BleepingComputer community,First of all I'm sorry I haven't finished some of the steps from the Preparation Guide. It's because these steps require a reboot (e.g. Step 6: Disable your CD Emulation Software - DeFogger will ask me to reboot the machine), and I have a bad feeling about the question if it is safe to reboot in my situation: I'm not sure if I have a type of malware which is ready to infect the BIOS - if it is so, then it could infect it much easier during the reboot process.- If there is a good way to find out what is the problem (and fix the BIOS threat part if it really is present) without rebooting / shutting down this PC, or at least without booting from this hard drive (which I feel is probably infected), then please tell me what should I do.- If you know a place / forum where I can get a specialized help for this (seemingly BIOS-malware related) situation, please tell me where I could go.- If there is no way to move forward, I'll go ahead and risk the reboot, and follow the other steps (steps 6 to 10) in the Preparation Guide, no problem.I kindly ask you to please read below the details of the problem as it occured to me, and the things I have tried so far.The PC is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core BE-2350 2.1GHz, Motherboard Biostar TA690G AM2 (with AWARD BIOS), 4GB RAM, 200GB SATA HDD, and an ASUS EAH4870 card added a few years ago. It's with WinXP SP3, AVG Free 2012, (standard) Windows Firewall, and it's behind a router.I ... CPU fan failed and PC would not boot except to "fan failure" message. Fan has been replaced, but now constantly getting blue screen error BSOD, which reads "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR" and sometimes other errors. Windows tries to boot into recovery but BSODs again and again. What I've tried:  1) Reset BIOS to defaults. DONE - same behavior after reset to BIOS defaults.  2) Tried booting from USB drives (several) using Linux recovery tools (Kaspersky, Ubuntu Live, etc.). KERNEL PANIC, etc.  3) Downloaded BIOS update from HP and created BIOS update USB. Rebooted with USB key (I turned off secure boot, etc. to allow USB booting.) - NOTHING. I tried this both allowing BIOS to run untouched  and by going into BIOS options (pressing ESC @ boot up) - no options anywhere to read/update BIOS. According to an HP Support doc, I tried updating the BIOS from w/in "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI". The version on this PC is version 5.2.2.0:  I see no option to update UEFI (Flash BIOS). Options read as follows: System Information, System Tests, Component Tests, Test Logs, Language, Exit.  What do I try next, please? BIOS: JA2 v80.35CPU: AMD A8-6500RAM: 8GB DDR3, single DIMM in slot 4.     NOTE: System came w/ RAM in slot 4. Doesn't POST if RAM DIMM is in slot #1. Is this normal?

Hey guys. I just bought a new PC for school and the HP Support Assistant program recommends an update to the BIOS. Now I know the update is available but I also know that you typically should only update if their is a problem as updating BIOS is risky if not done properly. Now since is a recommended update, I have already attempted the update and it has failed twice. I do not want to keep taking chances of messing up a brand new machine just for an update that may not even been necessary to begin with. What I would like to know, is what exactly does this update add/fix on this machine? I have already searched the Internet but have been unsuccessful in finding a description for this paticular update. If someone could please take a look at the attached screenshot and let me know what this update is for, I would be most appreciative. At least then I could make an informed decision on wether or not I'm going to attempt this update again. Thank you.

Hello, I have updated my HP Elite 8200 CMT from windows 7 to windows 10. In the HP driver download page, there is no BIOS update for windows 10. But I have noticed that there is BIOS update for Windows 7.  The question is, may I use it on Windows 10 ?  And in general, are BIOS updates OS dependant ?

A:Bios update after update to Windows 10

Hi: You can pull the DOS based flash file folder out of the BIOS package, copy just the contents of the DOS flash folder to a USB flash drive formatted with the FAT file system. Plug the flash drive in a usb port, restart the PC, tap the ESC key to get the menu of options. Select the F10 System setup option to gain access to the BIOS. Select the File menu>Flash system ROM command.  Select the USB flash drive. The PC will see the files on the flash drive.  Follow the on screen prompts to update the BIOS. That way it makes no difference what operating system you are running. One very important note...I have read the installing the latest BIOS 2.29 causes issues with W10. There is a forum post regarding that... http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/HP-Compaq-8200-Elit...I am running v2.28 on my HP 8200 Elite CMT, and have no issues at all on W10. I read that post and decided not to update the BIOS to v2.29.

Greetings!
I have an Optiplex 9010 AIO. This morning I was trying to update the BIOS of my system, from A10 to A13. During the update process it showed an error: "ME FW Update Failed: Internal error: FWU_Buffer " - please see the photo below. Although the update failed on the Management Engine part, it still boots up and running OK. I tried couple of times to update the BIOS, and each time I got the same error. I tried to flash the A12 and A11 BIOS as well, A12 gives same error, and A11 has the same Management Engine version hence no use.
Any help on this is very much appreciated!

Soon after the windows 10 anniversary update was available I installed it on a Dell D 630. Right away I had issues with the touchpad. Text would be highlighted that I did not select by merely passing the mouse pointer over it. Pages would change without my commands. So I rolled back to my previous version and all was well.
Then I purchased a used Lenovo T410S that had a fresh install of Windows 10 along with the anniversary update. With this one I did not experience the highlighted text, but pages change without my command or the page will scroll without me telling it to. The touchpoint works fine and I disabled the touchpad. I had tried the latest UltraNav driver for Windows 10 without any success of taking care of the problem.
As I am typing this post I am on Ubuntu running from a usb stick and the touchpad works exactly as it should, no issues at all. Anyone else have this problem?

Hello, I had no problems with the touchpad in my first two months of owning this computer. Recently when I try to use the touchpad, the cursor bounces all over the place and I have no control over it. This is espescially annoying when I am at work and need this to work correctly when I am gathering data in an excel doc. I noticed there was a 1.17 firmware update for the synaptics driver in the care center, but when I click to install it will run for a second and then say "failed". Just updated BIOS and every other driver I could think of but it makes no difference.

Hi ! Have you trying Unistalling the driver for the Touchpad? Must of the times unistalling the drivers and restarting your unit will actually fix the issue. If you access the Device Manager (Press Windows key +X)> Select Device Manager > Mice and other pointer device, Right Click> Unistall> Restart. Some updated on Windows sometimes will disable the proper Drivers for your unit. Hope this could help you!

Hi,
I have an Inspiron 15-7569. My touchpad was working fine then after the most recent Windows update, the touchpad has become so oversensitive that it clicks and erases what I'm typing, especially on Microsoft Word. I tried adjusting the touchpad settings but the only thing that seemed relevant was turning the "tapping" off -- it helped, but it's still not enough.
Anyone have suggestions? I don't remember having this problem before the most recent Windows 10 update.

When this Gateway Laptop was new about 3 years ago, I found a way to disable the lockscreen and password, but cannot find the path back to that, now that I've updated from 8 to 8.1. I've unchecked the place that says to not require a password, but it's doing it anyway.

Also, when this laptop was new, my typing would vanish from the page without warning or notice. I found a way to correct that, but now it's back after the update. I just disabled all the Multigestures in the Mouse options, and maybe I've fixed it, but only time will tell.

A few days ago I formatted a drive and installed Win 8.1. Also installed all the drivers. Yesterday, when closing it downloaded some updates which it installed today. Now neither keyboard nor touchpad works. I connected a wireless keyboard but it won?t work either. Wired mouse does work.

Tried to uninstall those devices and run it again, but in vain. I don?t want to use system recovery, cause I have installed some software already and wouldn?t really enjoy going through this again.

In device manager, I can see my keyboard with a following error:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Highlighted mouse shows:

Any idea how to solve this problem?

Hi folks -  We have an Aspire 5733Z.  Now Windows 10 (It was originally Windows 8, and a while back, Microsoft eventually didn't give us a choice to update to Windows 10) It has a Synaptic PS/2 TouchPad.  I recently tried to update the driver for this TouchPad - as I thought maybe this would activate a 2-finger scroll that I've seen in other (newer) Windows 10 laptops recently. I downloaded from Synaptic website what seems to be the latest drivers for Windows 10 - a large zip file.  I installed the driver - seamingly successfully.  The touchpad still works (can move mouse and select, etc.) - but now when I look at the associated driver in device manager - the "mice and other pointing devices" is no longer listed as "Synaptic PS/2 TouchPad" as before, but now just simply "PS/2 Compatible Mouse".  Further - the original driver was dated something from 2011, and the current driver is now from 2006.  AKA it's not the Synaptic driver I just installed. So what am I missing?  I'm not an expert but know just enough to be dangerous  Any advice much appreciated. Thanks - Brad

Since upgrading my HP laptop to Windows 10 my touchpad has completely stopped working. I currently use a USB mouse but this isnt a solution.  First of all, when I unplug my USB mouse the pointer disappears completely. If I go into device manager in the 'mouse and other poiinting devices' section there doesnt seem to be an option for a touchpad. I have installed the most up to date drivers for the touch pad off your website countless times. I have tried reinstalling Windows 3 times and nothing has changed. I have had an on going conversation with Windows support for about 5 months and nothing has been resolved. I am incredibly disappointed with both HP and Windows for the lack of support and solutions to an update which was supposed to impove my computer experience. Here is the link to my conversation with Windows regarding this matter. I d-loaded driver but it says driver missing go to website for update to fix problem but cannot find "update" at synaptics site...

A:Touchpad fail after MSWin7 Update

First thing I would check is see if any of the updates that were installed were hardware related (drivers). Click on Windows Update and in the left pane click 'View Update History'. Another thing to check would be the driver in the Device Manager, there is the option to perform a driver 'roll back'. If the driver was recently updated this should re-vert it to an earlier one. Let us know if this works.

In my experience the special disk is needed which is available only for ASP technician.
Therefore it?s necessary to contact the ASP in your country in order to reflash the BIOS.

In my opinion you shouldn?t not try any ?Crisis Recovery disks? which you fond in the net? this can lead to mobo damage?

Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. I tried to remove the BIOS battery and the ram and then put them all back, trye... Read more

Have Toshiba Satellite L355-S7905 with Vista. Several days ago, my keyboard stopped working. Then followed my touchpad. My power light is also not working.
Keyboard works in Bios and at Startup brand screen. Have uninstalled and updated drivers for keyboard and touchpad. Checked Bios, everything is fine in there.
I redid the computer back to out of box settings. Still didn't work. The computer won't shut down properly when I restart. It will go black like it has shut down but I have to press the power button to completely turn it off and then press it again to get it back up. I flashed Bios and check boot order, nothing.
Now that I redid my computer. My updates hang after updating Windows update agent. I have let it check for updates for 27 hours and nothing. I installed IE9. Disabled firewall. Nothing.
The other day power went out and drained my battery until it went off. When starting it back up, keyboard worked again, and so did restart. After several hours, keyboard stopped working. I have taken battery out, and power plug and pressed power button for 30 secs and then replaced battery and turned it on. Still nothing.
So keyboard is not working, touchpad not working, power light is off even though computer is on, volume dial not working, but did after battery drained from loss of power. It's not restarting properly and checking for updates just hangs for over 27 hours now. Many problems all at once, can anyone help me?

A:Keyboard, touchpad, restart and update problems

Forgot to mention the updates worked when I redid it months ago finally after deleting Norton and norton's registry keys. It finally found the updates after six hours. That was in early March last time I recovered to out of box setting.

Same for me.
I have solved it by doing:
Went to the control panel (right click on the start button)
Goto the device manager
Goto the Mouse and ...
Right click and choose properties.
Click on OK
Computer asks for a reboot and after the reboot the mouse pad was working again.

I have always turned off mouse precision for windows so there's no mouse acceleration on mouse or touchpad. If I installed anniversary update, then I get a large amount of acceleration that wasn't there before the update. Mouse is unaffected. Is there any fix for this.

A:R5-471T-52EE Touchpad Anniversary Update

Turning Touchpad settings in BIOS from advanced to basic removed the acceleration but also turn off precision touchpad. It's also very slow without turning the mouse sensitivity very high. The current driver is a generic HID-compliant touch pad driver from Microsoft. I have just tried installing a Synaptics generic driver, it did not fixed the issue.

Hello Everyone! So here's the situation. I updated my m6-1045dx to Windows 8 Fresh Install. Among those that I applied was sp58572.exe found here which I will refer to as "patch". However, for some reason, the updater quit and now, my touchpad DOES NOT WORK. I think it's a firmware issue in the sense that I've already reinstalled Windows 8 TWICE and yet it still does not work. I think what needs to be done is to update the driver correctly and then use the patch to correct the firmware. The problem is that I tried restarting, shutting down multiple times, reinstalling the driver (both the one provided by HP for my model and the one on the synaptics website) to no avail.Everytime, I try to run the patch, I only get the error message "A synaptics pointing device driver is required for reflasing. Please install a synaptics driver version 15.1.6.0 or newer".The problem is that it doesn't work EVEN if I install a newer device driver. Any help you can give will be much appreciated. Thank you.

1st time post,

When I used my Surface 3 tablet for typing and had attached a WiFi mouse, the touchpad settings allowed me to disengage the keyboard's touchpad, freeing me from accidentally touching the touchpad while typing, (extremely useful with my butterfingers). I've noticed that the Mouse and Touchpad settings in the Anniversary Update have been greatly simplified to only one option for the touchpad. I really miss the option of being able to disengage the touchpad when an external mouse is detected. Can you bring it back?

Hi,

I have a old Tecra 9100 with years of good service, and this is my first problem, but is a great one, after a forced reboot the screen shows a BIOS block 1 damaged message. I have tried to repair the BIOS upgrading to the last version I have found, the 1.6 one, but its a Windows version (to upgrade from a running Toshiba computer I think) and when I try to run it in another computer to generate a FDD and upgrade BIOS, I cant, beacuse a Toshiba common modules message.

Its there any BIOS diskette image-archive I can dowload to perform the BIOS upgrade in the BIOS?

Thanks in advance.

Hello

All you can find is stuff on Toshiba support page. I don't know where you live but try to contact nearest Toshiba authorized service provider.
They have access to Toshiba database and they can obtain all this for you. Make a call and ask for help. I am pretty sure they will help you to solve this BIOS issue.

Dear all, Since the beginning I got troubles with charging - ( 94 % plugged in, not charging). The easiest solution was just remove the battery, but not for HP Omen. I removed battery and destroyed the rubber on the bottom. I had to open the laptop, because one morning I got the massegae that my laptop is overheated and fan does not work properly. Both fans works only during the lounch, when windows works only one fan was in operations, second one never starts again. Looking for the solution in the internet I have found that this can be because of BIOS is not updated.  I pushed F2, checked the the system, everything is fine and then I installed only one version which I have found there. No massages regarding overheating any more, both Fans are working full power and very very loud. Temperature of processors is 30C. In my room 25C.  I followed all instructions, but got massege BIOS update is blocked.I downloaded the most previous version, again BIOS update is blocked.Current version of bios is BIOS version F00 04Sep14.  Can it be solved somehow?

Hello all, this is my first time posting here so please forgive any mistakes/oversights. I've just updated my Samsung laptop's system BIOS via their software update program, and my Nvidia GPU (GT 650m DDR3) no longer seems to work. The Nvidia control panel is still there, and it still gives me the option to select which programs use the GPU, but there is no GPU actitivity showing up. Also,I've tried playing Skyrim (which auto-detects the PC's graphics cards) , and the game no longer seems to detect the Nvidia GPU (just the Intel integrated graphics).

My laptop model is NP550PC7, with 6 gig of ram, and an i7 quad core CPU, and the OS is Window 7 Home Premium 64bit.

I've tried looking in the BIOS but I can't seem to find anything related to the GPU or display options. Any help or avice is much appreciated.

Hi,

Have you updated your GPU with the latest drivers?

http://www.geforce.co.uk/drivers

Please navigate to:

Look under "Display Adapters"

Is the Nvidia GPU listed there? If so are there any yellow symbols etc?

Hello. I upgraded my laptop Toshiba satellite S50D B100 to Windows 10. And everything is perfect the only problem I've had since I updated the touchpad is not working at all or to the left or right click. My ELAN touchpad is smart pad 15.8.3.2_X64_WHQL version. I searched all over the internet and can not find a solution valid. From what I understand the problem is to update this driver. I went to the ELAN own page and can not find the update, but it says I have to go to the computer manufacturer. I went to the page and neither toshiba meeting and nose to do this and the truth esque driving me crazy because I can not use my laptop and I need it urgently. I appreciate a prompt solution. Thank you.

A:Satellite S50D-B - TouchPad is not working after update to Windows 10

Hello

after two full days looking for a solution to this problem validates I found in a Microsoft forum page to download the driver and achieve ELAN touchpad solve the problem or I think because so far not returned to give me problems.

What I did was this link between this

http://support.toshiba.com/drivers locate the driver called ELAN touchpad was published on 07.08.2015. After my toshiba I went to settings, devices, mouse and touchpad, extra mouse options, Hardware, properties, General, change settings, controller and revert to the previous driver, restart the PC and then install the driver to download toshiba page back to restart the PC.

But I discovered that the update had launched ELAN Microsfot not go away so I went back to reverse the upgrade I had done with the downloaded driver, restart and install Microsoft had released early and then went back to restart the PC.

At the end the whole process I did not need to reinstall the driver unloaded and everything works perfectly so far.

I hope you like because I really suffered much to find an effective solution and that I did not lose the functions of the touchpad.

A greeting.

Hi,
A new major update for Windows 10 has been released a few days ago, and the update included a new gesture which allow user to switch the desktops with 4 fingers placed on the touchpad and swipe between left or right to switch the desktops.
This new gesture is not working on my touchpad and I am assuming this may relate to the current version of the touchpad driver is not yet supported to this feature because the other gestures like three fingers swipe for moving any opened windows and three fingers tap for calling Cortana are still working fine for me.
I was wondering if there will be any update for the touchpad driver coming soon, or all of these were just my own issue...

Thank you!

Hello,

I recently received an update to my ASUS Vivobook laptop which was running windows 10, quite flawlessly I might add. After the update, my touch pad stopped accepting multi-touch and my USB ports stopped recognizing any devices including my mouse. It would not even give a "device not recognized" notification. It just is not detecting the devices.

I first tried to fix my touch-pad by unistalling the SmartGesture driver and reinstalling. Nothing changed. The touchpad only accepts one finger operations so it does not allow for two finger scrolling etc. I read a post that said you don't need SmartGesture because Win10 comes with its own drivers to allow the touch-pad to do those multi-touch things but its still not working.

I tried to fix the USB ports by first changing the power management to not turn off the ports in power saving mode. Didn't work. Then I tried reinstalling the drivers using the Device Manager. Didn't work. Then I tried to uninstall all the USB drivers within Device Manager and restart my laptop and let it reinstall itself. Didn't work. The ports are not faulty because they were all working before the update and I know that my mouse is working and that all the cords and flash drives I plug in are working because I tested them on another PC.

I need help.

Hello,
after the update to Windows 10, I have less touchpad gestures available. Before, I could use 4 finger swipe to the sides to change the tabs in the browser. When I go now to the DELL touchpad software, there aren't any options anymore for 4 finger gestures. And instead going back/forward with a 3 finger swipe to side, it changes the apps now (which is unnnecessary for me because a swipe up opens task view). Is it possible to change the actions of the touchpad and get back the 4 finger gestures?
For me it's incomprehenisble why DELL reduces the functions of the touchpad with the upgrade to a newer OS...

Johannes

I don't know for sure the the Win7 update killed the track-pad, but about a week or so ago after I let it run I've lost the track-pad function completely and the keyboard is erratic. If I accidentally hit the Caps Lock key the keyboard stops responding. I discovered if I open the keyboard control panel and just change a parameter, like how fast the cursor blinks and APPLY then I get the keyboard back without rebooting. I downloaded the track-pad driver, says it's the same as installed but the system no longer recognizes it's there in the control panel. This is an HP G60 series laptop running Win 7 Home.

I'm downloading TSG to add that info, but searching I see many people have had similar problems like this with no solution on various brands of laptops and Windows. Anyone suggest a reason for this? And how to fix it without reinstalling Windows from scratch?

Hello,About two weeks ago I purchased Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG. Everything worked well. After I installed Anniversary Update, touchpad(ELANTECH) became unusable. It lags and movement is somewhat sluggish. When I switch touchpad setting in BIOS from ADVANCED to BASIC, no problem. But then gestures don't work. I've also found, that if CPU is on load, touchpad works normally. I think it's because of drivers. I made a clean install of Windows, installed all drivers from support page, updated windows and nothing helped(only BASIC mode, but then I lost functionality).I've noticed that other people have this problem too. We should spread the word, so Acer finally updates drivers and/or BIOS.

Made the huge mistake of updating BIOS. Had small MOBO usb prob, and for some reason thought a BIOS update would do something. Wasn't too worried because Gigabyte touts Dual BIOS pretty strong.

Anyway, tried updating BIOS, then system would not boot, so the Backup BIOS didn't kick in. btw, the MOBO is a Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro.

So I copied the backup bios to a floppy and used the floppy to fix the main bios. OK, now computer would boot, but would freeze up after the desktop icons appear. Actually would sometimes work for a few minutes, but always froze up.

Boots OK to safe mode, even to the point of getting online, so I downloaded the old bios from Gigabyte, put them on floppy and used that to update the main bios. Same result.

Also did a system restore from XP Pro Safe Mode (because XP wrongly states that this can be undone; didn't find out that System Restore done from safe mode cannot be undone until I tried to undo!).

My tech support (ABS Computer; they rule) thinks that the BIOS is now fine, that some windows files are corrupt and a re-install will fix problem and mobo is probably fine as well. I'll buy that.

anyone have any miracle suggestions before i re-install? Is a repair install worth a shot? Really not looking forward to re-installing all my software and putting all my data back where it belongs to get my email hist., bookmarks, etc. back.

thanks - I will now write the following 500 times: LEAVE THE BIOS ALONE! even with Dual BIOS

Hello all.
Running windows 10 pro 64 bit.
I've updated from Version 1511 to the anniversary update, 1607.
Or at least, I thought I did.
The update went well, no hiccups, no errors. Used windows update, let it downloaded and install and rebooted. Alas, system still shows OS Version 1511.
Used update again, same thing, rebooted, 1511.
Went to the windows site, downloaded the windows10upgrade9252.exe, ran it, same exact issue, rebooted, still showing version 1511.
Error logs show no issues. Disabled all external drives, turned off anti-virus, etc, repeated, rinsed, rebooted, still version 1511.
Only think I've not done is burned an ISO to DVD and updated from that.
Any clues as to what's going on?
Thanks!
Nelson Davis

A:windows 10 update from version 1511 to 1607 anniversary update - does not update

Can you check to see what OS version you have? Check in settings > system > OS build. It should show something like 14393.5 or 14393.10

I can't scroll any more and also the momentum setting I used before seems not to be working any longer.

So I ask myself are there any updates for the drivers planed for this? Or can I get them anywhere else?

A:Satellite S50T-B950 - touchpad is not working after Windows 10 Update

Hi

I can't give you the perfect answer.
Howver, I can share my road to success:

In Win 8.1 - uninstall the ELAN package. The touchpad will continue to work, at least basic pointer-move and click.
Upgrade to Win10
In Win 10, reinstall the Win 8.1 ELAN driver.

That worked for me.

Hi, I saw the new BIOS version 1.25 dated ?14?.?09?.?2016 appearing on Lenovos support site. I did not check the version I was having on my system before downloading the "new BIOS", so I started the installer and the tool told me I already have this BIOS version. msinfo32.exe tells me I am having BIOS 1.25 dated 13.07.2016. So apparently the BIOS was released already some time ago and I already flashed it to 1.25. So whats the point of re-releasing the 1.25? If there are any changes of todays version compared to the 1.25 released some time ago, is it worth flashing? If yes, how can I do this if the tool tells me I am already having the latest version and it does not let me override my BIOS? Thanks and best regards,Martin

I have a Lenonvo H50-55 desktop with an AMD A10-7800 APU (3.5GHz), 12GB RAM, 2 HDD's, and an Nvidia GTX 750 video card, running Windows10 Home x64. My current BIOS  version is IRKT54AUS, and the latest available version on Lenovo's update page for my machine is IRKT57AUS. When I try to flash my BIOS from the downloaded update file, I get the error message in the subject. I am starting everything with Admin privileges, but that makes no difference. If it's a Lenovo machine with stock BIOS, why am I getting an "unknown vendor" message? Inquiring minds want to know  TIA!

I have been trying to fix a problem with my touchpad. It will only work long enough to move the cursor an inch or two. I have had to add a Mouse in order to use my computer.

During start up, I see a message on the lower right hand of the screen saying important updates are available and I should upload them. I go to Settings, Change PC Settings, Updates and Recovery,Windows Updates. The page won't load.

I have tried many things on the net from people with the same problem, however, these have not solved my problems. Can you help?

A:Solved: Two problems-touchpad won't work and can't open Update and Reciovery in Chang

First, your touchpad is gone defective, so you will need to replace it or just not use it.
Second, try to open Windows Update directly by searching for in in the Start screen, type 'update' in the search box, and click on the Windows Update app directly.

Dell just saying it's a "possibility" the motherboard might need to be replace. No one can tell you that motherboard is definite "Fried" without first looking at the system.
What is the system model number and version of windows before upgrading to windows 10? Example: Dell Inspiron 3543, windows 10
You're able to boot into BIOS(F2 key) and diagnostic (F12 key) ?

I am trying to update from Windows 10 OS Build 10586.589 to the Anniversary Update but my computer freezes at 1% progress. I have tried everything I can think of including: Unplugging all extra SATA drives except my main SSD, unplugging my wireless network adapter, unplugging all USB devices (even mouse and keyboard), removing old drivers and updating outdated ones, and installing the update through a USB flash drive. It always gets to the same part and freezes until I shutdown my computer and lose no data.

You can see pictures of the frozen screen here: http://imgur.com/a/PseoH.

I currently have an HP desktop, which was updated to be running Windows 7 OS. I noticed that it was a bad idea, considering that it has been giving me BSOD constantly at boot. I tried installing Windows 10, seeing if that could would but then I figured that it could be a BIOS problem, not able to install Windows 10. Thing is, I want to create an external drive that is able to run into that computer, yet when I tried to create it, it tried to update the BIOS of my laptop (Which is not the same motherboard, obviously). I became a little paranoid after that, so I request a little help installing the BIOS update. It's running BIOS 5.15, if that helps.

My laptop is a circa 2008 Dell Vostro 1000 with Win 7 Home Premium.  Processor is an AMD Sempron 3600+; current BIOS version is Phoenix 2.6.3.  The Phoenix website says there is a BIOS update available, but I am referred to a 3rd party site where I have to pay $30 to get it.  That seems ridiculous to me, akin to having to pay for Windows updates.  Is there nowhere I can go to get this update without shelling out any money?  The Dell website is no help - says there aren't any updates.  I have replaced the original HD with a Crucial SSD and want to try AHCI, but the current BIOS version doesn't seem to support it.

A:Pay for BIOS Update??

The Dell website...is the only place that you should be looking for any updates relating to hardware components.

Why are you seeking a BIOS update?

I updated the BIOS for two reasons first was I forgot my password and the second was that I was still on A07 (Now on A10). A07 came out before W10 and wanted to just make sure it everything was up to date.

The update went smoothly the issue is from the boot process. Before when I was on A07 I'm pretty sure it always booted with Legacy mode unless I'm mistaken. After going into A10 it naturally tries to boot with Legacy but it gives this message "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key".

I can boot by choosing UEFI boot: Windows Boot Manager. Oddly enough within the BIOS it still has Legacy set as the boot mode so if I restart/shut down it will attempt to boot with that first. I know that attempting to change the boot option from BIOS gives a warning.

Is this a known issue with A10?

A:BIOS Update

Try changing the Legacy option to UEFI and Legacy (both) and see what that does for you.

Hello bigcroc.

It is not advisable to update the BIOS if you have no experience doing so as you could very easily permanently disable the motherboard, it's not something "to try" to fix an issue.

Could you please go into exact detail about the issues you're having and maybe someone can help you find a solution.

Hello,

So i just installed windows 8 on my Inspiron N5110 Dell computer and now when i reboot the computer it just shows the logo and then the screen goes dark and nothing else happens. I did some research and found that it was because my bios version is outdated. So the current bios version i had is A03. I went to Dell.com and typed in the service tag and realized that the new uptaded one is A11. So because my computer doesn't really work i decided to download it on another one and then transfer that to a usb flashdrive. So first I used this website http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN143196/EN
i followed the directions and everything and then I downloaded the new updated version of bios and transferred it to the usb. So then i put the usb in the computer and restarted the computer and kept hitting the F12 button. The "please select boot device" comes up and i choose USB storage device button. When i do 2 error messages come up. 1) Bad or missing file /HIMEM.sys and bad or missing file /RAMDRIVE.SYS

What does that all mean? and also i did a diagnostic test and everything was good.
any help would be appreciated. thank you so much

This really isn't a Windows 7 question, but are you using the correct utility for the bit version you have for Win 7?

My system has a utility it starts from the bios to update the bios. Each motherboard seems to have different ways of doing this, so read the instructions for your motherboard. You may have to create a boot media or use some other utility.
