Hi, I recently did a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on my PC after accidentally formating the HHD because of a faulty image system I tried to restore. I was able to download and install most of the drivers that I required from this page on hp website: However the chipset driver seems to be missing. The processor is: AMD E-450 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.65HGzThis seems to be the motherboard information of the pc: Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard Product: 3577SerialNumber: PCHMCA47V1R2BJ Version: 24.49 I obtained that information by running the following command on the command prompt: >wmic baseboard get product,Manufacturer, version, serialnumber The rest of the pc specs are on this hp page (its google cache version since the page look blank to me otherwise): Any help would be appreciated.

A:My HP 2000-369wm notebook won't boot past the HP logo screen...

Not a lot of info here1) Can you access the BIOS /CMOS screen2) IF yes can you move around the screens and or see that the system has recognised the hard drive. Does the system make any strange noises? How long does it take to switch on ?Is it getting over hot? What happen eventually?Do you can you power it off easily or do you have to hang on to the power button to get it to go offWith it powered OFF!Have you tried removing the hard drive?Reseatting the Memory?Removed the Optical drive? If no then try this below. Try using a boot DVD/CD to establish if the system will 'get out of bed' Or a linux boot flash stick you can then see if the system is viable and or if the system can access the Hard drive(s) It will also allow you to recover the data transfer to a flash stick.

Just reinstalled this computer with the Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system. After the installing there was no networks available to connect to. I even connected it through an Ethernet cable and nothing happened. I clicked on the troubleshoot link and windows network diagnostics and it says to Install a driver for your network adapter. Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver. I tried to reinstall the operating system and nothing change. Not sure what to do. Can anyone help?

Hi, I'd like to ask you for help.

I have a notebook Acer Aspire V15 Nitro BE II (VN7-572G-54U4), which has Skylake chipset and comes originaly with preinstalled W10. Due to issues with wi-fi and my general dislike for W10, I installed W7. Even though Acer only provides drivers for W10, I managed to find and install all neccesary drivers, except for audio drivers. No matter what drivers I instal (from acer, realtek webpage, intel), the sound device won't even be recognized (error code 28).

After a lot of googling I found a guy who has the same problem and is a lot more knowledgable than me (link to his forum post), and according to him it seems the issue is that there aren't working W7 audio drivers for Skylake chipset. I also found that someone else had the same issue with a HP notebook (also with skylake chispet) (link), and he solved it by disabling "Intel Smart Audio" in BIOS. However, there is no such option in my BIOS, not even with unlocked advanced settings. These are my only clues.

So I'd like to ask you if someone has an idea how to solve this? Thank you.

Using HW Info
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT as a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE (sometimes the usual one for Gigabyte boards)
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
Limits +/-
12v = 11.4 ? 12.6v
5v = 4.74 ? 5.25v
3.3v = 3.135 ? 3.465v
The Power good signal voltage at pin 8 on the 24 pin plug (grey cable) should be the same as the 5v rail reading/s

Do I need them ? I think I've installed ATI Catalyst before for the SMBus driver but recently uninstalled because I didn't understand what it was for and didn't like the folder/installer

A:AMD Drivers On An Intel Chipset (South Bridge & Chipset Drivers ?)

First thing, check your specs just to be 100% sure of what you have.

Second, Driver Genius and any similar program is not really recommended as they aren't particularly reliable.

Then if you still have drivers for stuff you don't have we can talk about them.

I have GTX 460 with 258.96 drivers. I do not have an nVidia chipset. When I went to check the Driver Sweeper files, I found all these chipset files. Why do I have them?

A:Why do I have chipset drivers when I don't use an nvidia chipset?

Why do I have them?

For the same reason I and everyone else does, because 7 installs base drivers for just about everything as a "just in case", regardless of the actual hardware. I have those same files as well as some from Intel, Via, SiS, etc all in the,

Personally I would just leave all that well enough alone as it isn't affecting anything as they never get loaded unless the hardware they are for ever gets installed. That and there is a good chance that by removing them that when SP1 does come out it will fail to install due to missing system files (ask those that had that happen after removing various unused driver files and whatnot with vlite on Vista).

I've been trying to output to the correct resolution to an external monitor from a Toshiba M45-s359. External monitor is a Samsung HDTV w/ PC input (native resolution 1280x720), haven't been able to output anything better than 1024x768.

Graphics are: Mobile Intel 915 GM/GMS, 910GML Express chipset family.

Anyways, after fiddling with this for days, I've now got a more serious problem on my hands. Not sure how I did it, but now the internal (notebook) monitor won't display its correct resolution (widescreen 1280x800). It now displays as a garbled 1024x768. The most recent thing I did before this problem occured was to install a modified (by me) version of the latest intel drivers.

I re-installed the original intel drivers.
I installed the updated intel drivers
I updated the BIOS
I even formatted and re-installed windows XP pro.

The problem remains. The root of the problems seems to be that windows recognizes the internal notebook monitor as "digital flat panel 1024x768"
For some reason it thinks that this is the native resolution. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the monitor, but this didnt help. Also having this problem during startup and when viewing the BIOS settings.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be really appreciative.

Thank You

Thank you to anyone who can answer these questions for me..

A:chipset drivers

If you are running a modern chipset [made in the last 2-3 years] you should install the drivers. When the os is loaded, it will use either a native windows driver or a "standard ide driver" To get the most stability, and functionality from the board, you should install the drivers.

I accidentally messed up my chipset drivers when a website said was updates to what I had, but instead it has rendered me useless to boot it back up; not even in safe mode. So I tried the repair utility on my XP disk, and it got to the point where the graphical stuff starts, but it has an error with lsass.exe, then the computer restarts. Then I had a little partition on my drive, so I deleted it and installed another copy of XP. (sort of like a dual boot) That worked fine. Is there any way to fix my primary installation without losing anything? And I have access to some files, but I had my documents and settings set to private, and it of course won't let me in through the other installation. What can I do? Thanks!

P.S. I do have the correct drivers burned on to a DVD before this happened.

By the way, I have an Dell E510 with Intel chipset 82801G (ich7 family). If you need any more info please let me know.

I thought I had correctly installed my motherboards chipset drivers, but when I right click on these highlighted items in device manager> select properties> driver tab> driver details I get a popup that says " no driver files are required or have been loaded for this device" Does this mean that some of the chipset drivers failed to install?

A:missing some chipset drivers???

I think what that means is that those devices are more controlled by the system, than by Windows.

Basically, device drivers are there as a go-between between you, your operating system (Windows, Linux, Mac etc), and your hardware. This is especially true for input and output devices.

But since those things are more for the processing and transfer of information, they are more controlled by your CPU, motherboard or memory. That last bit is mostly guesswork, but I am certain that those devices do not need drivers to work.

So I don't think there is a problem there.

A couple years ago I had a PC custom built for me and have had intermittent problems - crashes - every few months (separated by months with no problems). I was recently told I should see if my chipset drivers are up to date. I have no idea how to do this. This refers to the motherboard chips? My PC has a GIGABYTE X58A-UD3R. (I know there are at least 2 revisions but I don't know which I have.) A utility I run (HWiNFO32) says I have the "Intel X58 (Tylersburg 36S) + ICH10R" chipset. How do I tell if I've got the latest drivers? Does the Window Update utility have access to these drivers and check for updates or is this something I'm supposed to do?

A:Chipset drivers need updating?

If you've had crashes it's possible you have minidump files, if you have those we can look at a complete dated list of your current drivers and point out any that may be old/bad.

The files would be found in c:\windows\minidump

If you zip them into a folder you should be able to upload/attach it here using the paperclip icon in the edit window.

When I downloaded the lastest x64 drivers they were in WinRAR, so I extracted them to a VIA folder in the x64 bit Program Files. I assumed that's where they were supposed to go. But after an installation and reboot I found a new VIA folder in the x32 Program Files.

Do you know if they make NVidia chipset drivers in x64 bit and if so, where do I go to find them. I went to the NVidia site and could not find anything. The reason I ask is I am currently running Vista x64 and I have a VIA chipset and they do make x64 drivers for VIA. (I am told that you have to run the x64 drivers for a x64 OS)

But my motherboard is starting to fail, so in shopping fora new one, I have stayed away from ordering anything with an NVidia chipset in it, for fear of not being able to find x64 drivers for it.

I have a very old IPC N340S8 laptop running WinME that is showing exclamation marks next to the primary and secondary IDE controller (dual fifo) and an exclamation mark next to the standard floppy disk controller.

I am trying to update the drivers for this and it is proving to be a royal PITA! Can anyone suggest where I could locate drivers for this system? I've tried most internet sources you can think of but none are coming up with the drivers I need.

Win ME is saying there are problems with the drivers of type "code 10".

Is there a work around for this?

Also, I cannot get my CD drive to be recognised.

I was wondering if there was an all in one chipset driver package for this machine?

Recently, due to some hardware failures, I had to replace my motherboard. I also decided to reinstall Windows 10.

When I went to install the chipset drivers (16.4.2 Crimson, 64-bit), the only things it wanted to install were graphics related.

I can install these manually, but I'm not sure which drivers I should replace; it's simply been to long since I've had to do this and my memory isn't as sharp as it used to be. I have an MSI 990FXA Gaming motherboard, 8350 Processor, 16GB RAM, two WD HDDs (1TB boot and 3TB storage; prepping for eventually getting an SSD) and an MSI R9 270X Gaming 2GB video card running two monitors.

Thanks for reading. Any help that can be given is appreciated.

A:Updating Chipset/CPU drivers?

Well first you post complete specs here for you computer. download EVEREST Free Edition 2.20
And post your specs here.
To answer you question you would need to find out you motherboard and download the motherboard drivers from the motherboards website.
Another thing you may look at is running programs at startup or during game play. Download Starter manage your startup programs and disable any program that you don't need during bootup. The only thing I start at boot is My anti virus and the rest if I need it I can go start/programs and turn it on there. to many running programs slow the system.
Visit and run the full test, follow their advice

I have now done clean installs on two of my home network boxes.
Everything so far working fine. It installed generic drivers except for the
video card which are OEM.

Computer A is an ASUS motherboard, Computer B is an Intel
motherboard. I built both systems. in the past I've always installed
MB drivers and such for XP and window 7.

Mind you these are older drivers for windows 7 (some 8), there are no updates for either.
Should I do the same now with windows 10(64 bit) using those drivers or leave them?

Thank you,

I still haven't been brave enough to update XP to Vista. I've got everything that I need, but how do things work with chipset drivers? Should I uninstall the XP drivers first? The usual procedure is to install the chipset drivers before installing video card drivers. How would that work with an XP to Vista upgrade, where I would already have the video card drivers installed and would be adding the Vista chipset drivers later?

I hope this all makes sense.

I'm having a problem with system file corruption on two computers with ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Rev 2 motherboards and some resulting issues after upgrading from Windows 8.0 to 8.1. ASUS still doesn't have 8.1 chipset drivers available for their AMD motherboards but they have 8.1 for their Intel boards, which is interesting. I have been told by a third level MS Support person that the corruption is caused by a hardware issue and he refuses to troubleshoot the computer until the corruption is resolved. He said that in the 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade, Microsoft made some significant changes so he thinks that 8.1 chipset drivers should be installed.

Every few days, when I run sfc /scannow, it finds corruption. If sfc can't fix it, then I run the dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth command and eventually it gets fixed. In the meantime, some strange things happen with Window's operation but I don't get BSODs and other major things but the computer can hang for a while.

I have contacted ASUS but I get conflicting information from them. I see that here: ASUS Windows 8.1 - Ready Motherboard : Get you Onboard, that many AMD boards have passed the WHQL test (only very recently--the Intel boards had already passed some time ago) but when you click on any link to an AMD board, there are no 8.1 drivers available, even where it says they have some. I have been told by ASUS's Customer Care Manager that AMD provides the chipset drivers. I have spoken to AMD Support and they say that they do NO... Read more

A:Is it necessary to install chipset drivers?

I'd be interested in the current info on this as well.

5 or 10 years ago, you heard about it constantly and it was considered a near necessity for anyone building their own PC.

But you rarely hear about it anymore. Maybe that's because fewer and fewer people are building their own machines.
I asked this question on this forum several years ago and did not get a clear cut answer. It was more along the lines of "it can't hurt" or "as far as I know" or "why not" or "recommended"--with no documentation supplied. Just opinions with no supporting evidence.
But I've never heard anyone say it's a major mistake not to install them on recent hardware and can't recall any issues clearly traceable to lack of chipset drivers. Surely there must be millions of PCs built without "chipset drivers", which I think is a somewhat outdated term.

Hi everyone,

Here is my problem :

I just replaced my old graphic card with a ATI Radeon x1650 Powercolor. I updated the drivers of course.
Everything is working fine, except for one (old) game (Worms4Mayhem). This game was working with my old and outdated graphic card.

After mailing back and forth to Codemasters support, they advise me to update my chipset drivers.
So i downloaded (many times) the necessary file to update my nvidia nforce2 chipset driver. But the installshield program won't start...

I got these questions :
- Is the chipset driver update advice wise?
- How can i get this install to work ? Why doesn't it work properly?

Feel free to ask more precisions about my problem, i apologize for not having much knowledge in computers.

Here are my specs :
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
2,08GHZ 1,50 Go RAM
Windows XP Pro sp2
MoBo : Asus A7N8X-X
Graphic card : ATI Radeon x1650 Powercolor

Thanx in advance for your help

A:Installing chipset drivers

Don't know if the chipset driver update will help with your game, but it's not a bad idea to have the latest drivers for all your devices.
Where are you getting the driver from? Are you getting these?
As for why the install won't start, I'm not sure. You could try getting winrar or 7-zip, then right-clicking the file and picking extract to <folder name>. Then run setup.exe in the folder that was created. If that still doesn't work, try running the file in safe mode.

I have an Acer 5102 Notebook with 2 x AMD-TL50 processors,
ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 graphics and 4GB RAM, 2 x 2GB sticks.

The ENE Card Reader appears to be sharing address space with the upper 2GB of RAM; because my system Blue Screens whenever I try to use the Card Reader with the upper 2GB of RAM installed. It is completely stable with the upper 2GB of RAM removed. I have used the Memory Diagnostic Tool to check the RAM several times and no errors were ever found. I've also swapped the positions of the RAM sticks with the same results; so this appears to be a memory mapping issue.

For XP and XP x64 it was necessary to load Chipset Drivers in addition to the display drivers. Is this also necessary for Vista and Vista x64? I've visited the AMD/ATI website and they have Display Drivers, South Bridge Drivers and the Catalyst Control Panel for Vista and Vista x64. Does one of these components contain the Chipset Drivers or is this an entirely different animal all together? If separate chipset drivers are required, where do I get them, because AMD certainly doesn't seem to have them and neither does Acer?

BTW, are there any power users out there capable of editing a BIOS to add features like Address Remapping? Would this usually require access to the Source Code?

What is your suggestion on disconnecting everything from the mobo

to avoid driver conflicts. I prefere to DL the latest drivers and not using the default OS ones.
Anyway the LAN will be disconnected.
Q3: Is there still a limit on adding devices to the setup, after the autorisation of the OS is done?

slipstream sp 2 into your xp disk using nlite
virtually just mouse clicks

A:Does this board require its chipset drivers?

If you are refering to the "motherboard chipset" as the chipset, then no , since most version of windows ( from windows 98 on ) do have the drivers for it ( and that driver usualy is up-to-date) . On the other hand if you are refering to the chipset , as the IDE controlller then you might need to download one , depending of the chipset that you have ( Intel , VIA, SIS , ALI etc..)

Out of curiosity...and I know this might sound like a dumb question.....Lets say you've installed the Intel chipsets first as you are supposed to do...then you install the rest (Intel Management Interface, graphics, SATA, Audio, Network and any other driver updates that are required).
What happens if 6 months later a newer version of the Intel Chipset software becomes available?
!. Do you install it or not?
2. If you do install a newer version of the Intel chipsets do you then have to install all your other hardware drivers ((Intel Management Interface, graphics, SATA, Audio, Network) again? i.e does it affect the previous drivers that you might have installed in a recommended installation order. The reason I ask is because I know its critical that Intel Chipsets are installed before anything else and Im not 100% sure why though I have a good idea.
Would installing a newer version of the Intel Chipsets affect any previous hardware drivers you installed or would it just make the new chipsets more compatible with any new devices you might install in the future without interfering with any previous drivers for any hardware that you have already installed?
Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question. Im just trying to get a better understanding of how the Intel Chipsets work

A:A few questions about installing the chipset drivers

I find that most times if the computer is working properly there is no pressing need to update many drivers unless a new feature has been added that wasn't available when the motherboard was in production. Some updates offered by Microsoft may not be exactly right for the hardware in the computer, especially for add-in cards like Video/Graphics as the vendor of a card buys the chipset on it then implements as they desire. I use the Sapphire line of ATI/AMD video cards and have never had success using Windows drivers with them.

Same for BIOS updates. I've had to do only one BIOS update and it was years ago to allow support for HDDs over 512MB after 540MB HDDs became available.

I think you may need real tech support. Since you cannot boot the computer for us to fill in the understanding gaps, your problem will go likely go unanswered.

I see you are able to make an internet connection, so at least we can talk.
What you need to do is reestablish a boot on your laptop. The best way to do this would be to contact the manufaturer for a boot disk. They usually run about $15. However, most new laptops come with a restore partition on the hard drive. If you were to 'Rescue' your system, it should restore it to the way it was the day you bought it. It may have been a requirement to burn disks from this partition though.

I have to admit, this is piss poor technology as it many times assumes the user will create backup disks from this partition, without explaining the need, making it easy, or (dumb arces) giving you the disks to start with.

Try a selective boot. On my computers it's F9, but it could be any of the function keys or on the 'Home' block of keys. If all else fails, refer to you owner documents.
If you are able to access this partition, we may be able to save you this time. However, anyone with a laptop should have a rescue set of disks. It can be really difficault to identify your hardware, and apply drivers, if you can't boot the system.

I don't yet have rescue sets because I'm too cheap to buy a big stack of DVD-RW's, but know I should, just to show you your boats still in the water, you have no o... Read more

Thought that I installed the correct chipset for the ACER mentioned in the subject line. After installing the chipset the keyboard and mouse did not work.

Using Windows XP home edition.

I downloaded the chipset from the ACER web page.

Since I reinstalled Windows the mouse and keyboard are working fine.

Here is what has that question mark in the device manager.

Network Controller
Other PCI bridge devices
PCI Device
SM Bus Controller
Unknown Device
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

I have the correct drivers for the Video Controller and the Audio. I was told to install the chipset first before any of the drivers.

The first picture is the ACER Driver web page address.

I have no idea why 2 of the three photos uploaded sideways.

A:[SOLVED] ACER Drivers & Chipset

You might need to install SP3 then the drivers . . you do want to install the chipset drive first, then the others in any order.

If this is a notebook, they may have a Notebook Management driver . . Install that one first, then chipset

Im looking for onboard display and audio drivers for an old Elpina PM9100 motherboard. I have used aida to find the the chipset is SIS. I have been to their website and found what i thought was display drivers, but when i run the file a dos window appears with the microsoft pop-up program support and nothing else happens. I cant find any audio drivers at all.

The computer is running windows 98.

Does anyone know anywhere else i can find these drivers.

A:Chipset Drivers for an extinct mobo.

Hi, Have a look at this page- seems that you may have a remarked board there. Not saying it is...or isint yet. I would look all over that board, in corners, on back, between slots- there may be an ID you missed. Label info might help us. Is there any clues in Device Manager, if you have Windows on it now?

There are a lot of Unknown Device apps these days, AIDA32 is very good, but not perfect unless drivers are installed.
I can post some Unknown ID apps if you like, but I think they require Windows 9x at least....I will look that up.

EDIT::: Here is a good page with lots of info for you.

On the intel site I have found this link but it only appears to be available for the RC version.

? INF Update Utility - Primarily for Intel® 5, 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets

Thanks in advance.

If it runs on RC, it runs on everything. The only reason they just mention the RC is becuase when the driver was written that is all that was out

Hi all,

I have a Dell workstation (Precision 670) with a single Xeon Irwindale 3.4 GHz and I installed windows 7 x64. I am ok with all of my devices, some drivers are windows 7, my wireless adaptor is a vista driver that works fine, and the rest are Microsoft generic (chipset etc). I tried to intsall the latest intel inf using -OVERWRITE but it didn't update anything from the E7525 related devices. I know this chipset is old but its the first time that a Windows 7 instalation gives me worst benchmarks compared to XP even with generic chipset drivers.

Anyway the thing I would like to ask is if anyone knows in what OS did they stop the support for E7525, so if it is Vista I could try to use the Vista drivers in some way... Intel gives no info, they just have one single file for 5 OS's and 40 chipsets and if it installs it installs.... LAME!

A:Chipset drivers for intel E7525

Usually whatever chipset drivers Windows installs works without problems. I used to do a lot of support on the Dell users forum and we didn't see any problems caused by chipset drivers on Dell PC's.

Firstly, allow me to list my system specification:

P-7805g Notebook Gateway FX
Windows 7 Premium 64-bit
Intel Core 2 Duo processor P8700 2.53Ghz
Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS with 1 GB of DDR 3 discrete video memory

I am trying to update my bios and chipset drivers but a pop up window comes out and says Driver (WDM) Init fail!(0x130)

What on earth does this mean? These come in zip files so where do I extract them?

The reason I am doing this is because I always keep getting an error message display Nvidia Windows kernel mode driver version 257.21 has stooped responding and has successfully recovered, while playing Youtube videos with enabled hardware acceleration as well as Windows Media Player 12. I face no issues when hardware acceleration is unchecked and I play DVDs using other media players.

I took my laptop to a computer repair shop and they told me that this laptop is designed for Windows Vista. I upgraded the OS with a clean reinstall to Windows 7 and they told me that sometimes a laptop hardware is not designed to take in a new OS. Is this true? Their only solution is to revert back my OS to Vista because they told me that there is nothing wrong with my graphics hardware as well as other components of my laptop.

I read somewhere in the web that updating my Bios and chipset drivers would solve this issue so I am trying this method but I can't install the drivers!

Also, I don't want to revert back to Vista so what is the solution? My hardware is working... Read more

A:Where do I extract bios and chipset drivers to?

For your BIOS you need to update in DOS.

For Graphic card take here:

I'm familar with the concept of device drivers, and finding and installing the correct onces (e.g. graphics card, sound card etc.). However, I cannot claim to fully understand chipset drivers or even BIOS updates. In fact, I'm not entirely sure what a chipset is....

I took a punt and used the GIGABYE software to flash my BIOS : all good and no trouble at all.

So, the question is : is there a bit of software that can give me a picture of the status of chipset+associated drivers, possibly even my current BIOS version.

I'm looking for a bit of an education into parts of a PC that I don't know much about.

A:Chipset drivers & BIOS questions

Hello Golden,

I was about to launch, then remembered this page I had recommended to a friend. Its a nice, easy read on chipsets.

Everything You Need to Know About Chipsets | Hardware Secrets

As to what chipset you have just type dxdiag in the search box, then click on the display tab, that'll show quite a few things including the bios version.

You can also type msinfo32.exe in the search box for info.

Or you can take a peek in the device manager.

Or you can download a 3rd party like Speccy or CPUID to tell you more about your computer's hardware.

Just wondering this as i thought windows 7 pretty much has everything built in. I have been running 7 since the betas early last year and really have never installed any. However after i reinstalled 7 a couple weeks i have been having major issues, i just got around to reinstalling it again and everything is smooth. Just wondering if i should leave it as be or start installing stuff off the gigabyte site for my board?

A:Is it still necessary to install chipset/mobo drivers?

How old is the motherboard and the chipset drivers? What kinds of problems were you having with the previous install?

I was just wondering, are intel chipsets and nvidia drivers compatible and do they work well together? The only computers I have owned have all had Nvidia chipsets.

A:Intel chipset and nvidia drivers

Yes they are compatible... Some Nvidia video drivers have problems with Windows and not necessairily with the chipsets
