My Envy Touchscreen M7-k111dx Laptop will not turn on.

Q: My Envy Touchscreen M7-k111dx Laptop will not turn on.

My Laptop was working fine. It was plugged in as to charge the battery. I went to bed, got up the next day to use my laptop. I pushed the power button and nothing happens. I made sure the battery was seated correctly and also the plug into the laptop and wall. I also tryed diffrent outlets in my home and nothing.

The only thing I ca tell you is that when I press the power button the light next to the power input blinks (3) times and then stops. Nothing more happens. That is all the information I can provide.

So can you please help me find a solution? My warranty has since expired.

A: My Envy Touchscreen M7-k111dx Laptop will not turn on.

Visruth, I went and looked in the end of the power connector where it connects into the computer, and found the center pin on the power adapter was bent to oneside and this prevented it from seating correctly within the laptop. I used a flat screw driver from an Eye Glass repair kit and bent it back to the middle. Vala! Everything is working fine, computer turned on and battery is charging. I want to thank you for research and suggestions into my search for answers. V/R Scott

Hello,   I have a HP ENVY 17.3" touchscreen laptop, model M7-k111x.  While using  it shut off on its own.  The only response I get when attempting to turn on is a blinking light on the ON/OFF button.  I think it blinks 3 times then nothing.  I had upgraded to Windows 10 about 2 weeks prior to this happening.  I am not postitive if it is 32-bit or 64-bit.  Sorry.  I have been told it might be a loose motherboard if I am lucky.....or I need to replace the motherboard.  This happened one month after the warranty expired of course. Any ideas?                                                                                                                            Please help!!!!!!!!!!  Lyn=)

Hi @JayLyn5476,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome.  I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY m7-k111dx and issues with it just shutting down. Honestly, if you were not having any issues with the previous operating system doing this, I would think that it was Windows 10 and something not happy about the install. Now, if this was happening before, I would try:Control Panel  Power Options, Change plan settings, Restore default settings for this plan.Control Panel  Power Options,  Change plan settings, Change advanced power settings, Processor power management, System cooling policy. On Battery: set to ActivePlugged in: set to Active You could  try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix any updates that have not come through for Windows.  Please restart the Notebook twice to make sure all update have been completed! Please let me know how it goes. Click the Thumbs up to give me a Kudos high five, just to say thanks for trying. Thanks.

I've a friend who would like to add an SSD and it appears this machine has no provisions for a second HDD. There is a replacement caddy for the ODD it seems but the intention might be (to be simple) use the SSD in the ODD caddy as the BOOT PRIMARY and leave maybe the 5400 spinning drive where it is. I've researched I thought pretty well and can't find the "speed of the ODD" connection to the system-board. I understand that an m.2 or maybe an mSATA can be used but the system-board needs removed and turned over to install it. I don't know that I'm interested in all of that disassembly. Anyone done the ODD caddy? How aout the true difficulty of the m.2 or mSATA install? Which is it? The m.2 or just mSATA. Is the acual "logical thought" here to use the SSD in the PRIMARY slot and move the spinner to the ODD caddy? I would have thought yes but I certainly don't know. I'd appreciate the help! This will get a W10 install also - is there any "quirks" that I should be on the look out for? I have three questions regarding my HP Envy which I recieved in September, 2016.  1) how do I find the serial number? 2) how do I correct this system error? AccelerometerStexe - System Error. MFC120U.dll is missing. 3) I have an Espon Perfection V300 Photo Scanner, it works perfectly with Windows 7 on my work laptop. I cannot get the scanner with Windows 10 to work. I am connecting the scanner via a USB. The laptop recognizes the scanner and adds it as a device. However, it does not install any drivers to make the connetion between the scanner and the laptop.  I have tried multiple times to download the drivers from Epson.com and still does not work. The system is totally up to date and I know the USB works.  This is driving me crazy as I need this scanner to work with this laptop.

A problem has recently developed with my Envy notebook.   About 2 weeks ago my entire wireless network began slowing down when on it.   Noticeable on all devices.    When my provider came out, checked and tweaked some issues it appeared to be ok.   I went on with my daughers HP laptop and was drawing 20-24 mbps all over the house. When I reconnected mine to the system I was only pulling 6, 3, 5, up and down.   It doesn't start right away but after a few minutes.   So I put my duaghers right next ot mine and low and behold, when I ran her's it pulled 3 - 6 also.   So I turned my wi-fi off and hers' popped right back up.   I have also tried this with an old XP mini, my i-pads etc.   As soon as mine gets on the network the speed crashes.    This also happens with no one else home and no other devies conncted. I have downloaded the latest up to date Intel driver for this network adapter and it hasn't changed anything. Any ideas?

Bill_Ving Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about wireless networking poor performance and wanted to help. My immediate guess is that you might have mixed-mode networking going on.  This happens when you have two different PCs networking in two different modes -- one using "G", the other using "N".  The wireless router (or access point) can optimize performance for either mode, but not for both.  So, the "G" mode drags down the performance of the "N" mode PC, but even worse, with the router set for mixed modes, it performs more slowly than with either PC connected by itself. Here are some other troubleshooting steps you can try: HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 8) | HPŪ Customer SupportGood Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------Please click "Accept As Solution" on the post that solves your issue to help others find the solution. Please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on the left of the Reply button to say thanks fopr my help.========================================================================

So I paid to have a diagnostic done to find that my system board was bad. I want to send back to HP to have repaired or to get an estimate bug can't ever get support. When I do get someone in support they seem to think that if I pay $69 they can fix over the phone? I love this computer an it kills me to see it sit. Hello, Here is my hp laptop model and product number.Product number: G6U23UA#ABAProduct model:  k020us (Energy Star) Recently I had a problem of "Display driver stopped working and recovered" frequently. I searchhed over internet and on Hp form and I got several solution. I tried uninstalling display driver from Device Manager and updated from windows update. But it didn't work. So, I ran into another solution. I downloaded display driver fro intel website and installed. This time it worked well and the problem was resolved. But suddenly today, when I tried using touchscreen, it is not working. I do not know since when it stopped. On system properties, it says, "No pen or touch input is available for this display". I looked into this page. Then, I downloaded graphics driver from Download Center. But it tells that "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". I am out of options except factory reset (I think!!!), which I am not going to do, since there is many things installed on my lapotp and I have  work here. Help me.

Hello!  Back on 07/14/2016 I posted in the HP Forum about a different HP Envy laptop, and between Danny (moderator) and Jeff, they were able to help me get connected to the people who facilitated the return shipping, repair.  It's working great!

I bought a second HP Envy in July 2016, online from Best Buy.  It was intended as a backup for the first one that got repaired.  I'm a DJ so I need to make sure I have a backup  if the first one fails.  I loaded it with the music and lyrics pretty much right after it arrived, and put it away.  Just this past week I purchased the Microsoft Office 365 Suite, and so I went to put it on to this laptop.  That's when I discovered that there are a number of significant problems with it:

It won't even play the music files (?)
It runs VERY slowly - booting up, navigating the internet, anything you do takes a long time
I tried putting Microsoft Office 365 on it (purchased the suite at Best Buy) and it won't allow me to complete the final step
On one of the re-boots I tried, suddenly the entire desktop changed, and a new wallpaper appeared with the 'ASUS' logo in the bottom right.  As soon as I saw that, I knew something was seriously wrong - there is no way that should happen!
The last reboot I tried, I couldn't even connect to the internet.

I would like to have this laptop replaced with a new one - preferably the same kind, an HP ... Read more

Well the service from HP just gets worse. Not only did they not repair my touchscreen the first time it failed, they have made me wait a week for an uplift of the computer so that it can go for a second attempt to repair it and having waited a week for this uplift, taken a precious day's holiday and sat in all day waiting for them to come for it they have not turn up to collect it. They did not have the decency to let me know they were not actually coming.  When I phoned to find out what was going on they said they would have to arrange for the courier to come back but he did not come in the first place. So now I have to wait even longer for  the repairand take a second day's holiday to be here.  I have been patient, gave them one chance already to have it repaired. Agreed to a second repair which HP are clearly not taking seriously and are wasting my precious time.  This is an appauling service. I think it is time to escalate a complaint and get a refund.

Morning all, Long time reader, first time poster. I have an HP ENVY Touchsmart 15-j004sa (Windows 8) which won't boot following the most recent BIOS update.  The laptop will power up, but the screen remains black.  The power light remains on, but the screen, CAPS LOCK and WIFI buttons remains unresponsive and don't seem to flash an eroor code.  The sound of the HDD can be heard on boot up, as can the fans. I have attempted a  BIOS recovery using WIndows+B on turning on using a straight copy of the previous BIOS and a full recovery image, as well as all steps contained in this article.  In every instance the screen remains black and there seems to be no progressing from this point. I'm at a bit of a loss where to go from here, but I'm not quite ready to surrender.  I can see a few people have had similar problems with other models, but none so far with this one. If anyone has any suggestions or guidance I'd be extremely grateful. Chalky

I have a new Lenovo G500s touch, it has a hot key to turn the touch pad on/off with one touch. Is there a way to turn the touchscreen on/off with a keystroke? I look through a number of wiring diagrams and other things that I find my self touching the screen to follow diagrams and such, but with a touch screen it jumps a page or does other stuff, kind of like the touch pad and the cursor jumping in the middle of typing.

My fathers HP Envy M6 will not turn on, or charge.   I have the same computer, so I can troubleshoot a few things using mine.  From swapping the simple parts around, I can tell that the battery and charger is still functioning properly.  When plugged in, there is no charge light.  When my good, fully charged battery is put into his computer, it doesn't turn on.  It seems to be compeltely dead. I have tried the reset where you remove the battery, hold the power button for a minute, plug in the power cord and push the power button....it didn't work.  I understand there is a seperate circuit for the power cord.  If this is defective, would it only be charging that is affected?  I put a known fully charged battery in, and still nothing, so if this circuit is defective, would the computer also be non functional on battery power? I'm looking for any suggestions that might help, or point to the defect.

My HP Envy Desktop, will not turn on.  I tried unplugging it and replugging in.  The green light on the back turns on when I plug it in, however when I press the on switch, absolutely nothing happens

A:Envy won't turn on

Although you did not state an exact model number, the generic PowerSupply (PSU) troubleshooter can be found here. What is bothersome is your description,  as pressing the switch might cause the green light (as stated) to turn - off.  Perform the step-by-step, without skipping anything.  Have the case open, and observe the CPU fan, and rear fan fan.

Hi You have a couple of options as I see it please try the steps given below might help you fix the issue.  1) Disconnect the Adapter & Battery first just press and hold the power button on the unit for 30 seconds and then turn on the unit only using the Adapter and have it checked. 2) Once unit is power on keep tapping the F8 OR F10 key check if you get any display on the screen. 3) If you are comfortable please reseat the Hard drive & Memory and check if you get any display on the screen.  Let us know how it goes! *Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.****Click the White Kudos star to say thanks********Please mark Accept As Solution if it solves your problem**** RegardsManjunath

Hi, it seems that I keep having problems with my HP envy m6 notebook PC (windows 8). I have had this computer for 2 years and it keeps breaking down on me! I was using it this morning around 9:30 AM, and it was running fine, and it was charged. I turned the computer off, then headed to my class. Once I got out of class I went to turn on my computer and it would not turn on! I tried taking out my battery and putting it back in and turning it on, taking the battery out completely and turn it on with the charger hooked up, I even took out the battery, unplugged it and pressed the power button for a minute then put the battery and charger back in and tried turning it on and still nothing! This is very frusterating as I am a college student and I need this laptop for classes and I can't afford to have my computer break down on me anymore! Will someone please help me?! P.S. My led light when my charger was plugged in was not turning on either, and the power adaptor was not warm when plugged in, I don't know if this is one of the reasons why my computer will not turn on.

I own an HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC product number: E0K05UA#ABA and Model: 15-j053cl

I had a couple plastic screw inserts that hold the right side hinge to the top cover of the laptop break due to very high strength of the hinges which caused the top cover of the laptop to pry apart from the base enclosure when opened (a problem many owners of this laptop model have had). Since I was out of warranty I ordered a replacement on Ebay using the correct part number 720570-001 and disassembled my laptop to make the repairs and loosen the hinges while I was at it. I swapped out all parts being careful to note where and how plugs and ribbons were connected so I could put it back together correctly. Now after having it reassembled it will not turn on.

I get a white LED light to turn on when I plug in the power cord AC adapter (should be amber/orange in color to signify it is charging the battery) but no other sounds lights or signs of life. I have attempted to remove the battery and power cord, pressed the power button for 8-30 seconds to drain power and do a reset and then try to power up with plugging in the power cord but it won’t turn on. I also tried to power up by removing one part at a time including the hard drive, two RAM sticks, and wireless card but still not able to turn on. Do you have any ideas for what may be wrong or steps I can take to troubleshoot? Is this possible a mother board issue? Everything was working fine before embarking on this r... Read more

I've checked the charging cable and there is no damage, likewise no damage to laptop input. I've tried it at several outlets in my home to assure it wasn't the issue. This model doesn't have an accessible battery. It is completely dead and will not power on. Should I order a replacement cable or take it in for new battery or repair??

If you leave the power adapter plugged in dose the led stay amber? That means it is charging. Your troubleshooting describes a notebook with too low of a battery charge to boot into Windows. Let it charge for an hour or so before trying to power it on.

So the power button on my HP detached from the laptop. Long story short, I was boarding back home and hit a rock and fell forward therefore breaking the corner of the power button and shatter the touchscreen. I was still workin fine, except the fact that the screen was shattered and the power chip was dangling out of the laptop. It survived a few weeks before the power chip fell out. I couldnt find the time to go to a store to see what they could do. the only thing keeping it alive was the charging power but I fell asleep with the laptop on. Lucky me. The laptop was working perfectly. I've had it for some time right now. I have ALOT of important files and documents. I was wondering if there was a short-cut or a way I can get my Laptop on without using the power button. I just want to back-up everything i have in the laptop and make a desicion of getting a new one or fixing this one.

I have an HP Envy 15T and my right hinge just broke AGAIN.   I had it fixed by HP in March, 2015, and now about a year and a half later, the right hinge is broken again. As other people state, I am very careful with my computer.  Most of the time I leave it sitting on the desk, open, and don't move it much, but sometimes I have to close the display lid and put it in the case to go with me, and today I heard the plastic break inside, the screw is gone, and when slowly closing the display the case pops open at the hinge.  A piece of black plastic came out when I turned the laptop sideways.  Obviously a design flaw, the weight of the screen and hinges being held together by a tiny plaster piece. I wish HP would let me upgrade to another type of computer as this one is obviously going to continue breaking even with my careful use of the laptop. Looking for any and all assistance. Thank you, Mark

Hi, The answer to your question depends on your reasons for wanting to turn off the speakers.  Recently, I noticed that when I plugged my headphones into the headphone output on the Envy 23 I use at work, the music would still play through speakers, annoying my co-workers. I still wanted to be able to listen through headphones, so I plugged the headphones into the speaker output on the back of the computer. Now the music only plays through the headphones. When the compter is viewed from behind, the output is probably near the lower-right corner. It looks just like your headphone output, but has a little icon that looks a little bit like this:(((.))) To listen to your headphones without the speakers playing, plug your headphones into that speaker output on the back of the computer. If, on the other hand, you want to completely shut your speakers down, try this (be warned: this will shut your headphones down as well): Press the Windows + W keys, and type Sound into the search field.Select Sound from the search results. On the Playback tab of the Sound window, double-click Speakers / Headphones. On the General tab of Speakers / Headphones Properties, select Don't use this device (disable) from the Device usage drop-down near the bottom of the window.Click OK

I know this has started to be covered already but the discussion was never finished. This was the original post: I have discovered that the keyboard backlighting won't turn off. The backlight on/off key is labeled as F5. I press it, but nothing happens. I've also tried pressing fn+f5, but that doesn't do anything either. I had been leaving the backlight on, but now I want it to only be on when I press the f5 key. Why won't the backlight turn off? I am having the exact same issue. I followed the instrustions of the helper, which were: Can you please get to the Desktop Screen of Windows by pressing the Windows Key and ?D? keys together and then press the F5 key? As you might know, F5 is used for refreshing a Window/Page. Do you see the Desktop Icons getting refreshed? This is to make sure that the F5 key is working or not?If you got confused with that suggestion, please open MS Word and then press the keys ?Fn? and ?F5? together and let me know whether you get the ?Find and replace? Window? I didn't understand the first part, but the second part I got. I opened Word and pressed Fn and F5 together and can confirm that the 'Find and Replace window appeared. However, I have no idea what to do from here or how to fix the problem, please help me. Also bear in mind please that I am 16 years old and know pretty much nothing about computers. Also, I only got this laptop for Christmas 2015 and am not very familiar with everything yet.

Hello,  This is my first time on this site and I have been having some trouble with my computer.FIrst of all, my computer is the HP Envy 23 Touchsmart PC and its roughly around 3-4 years old. For all this time, it has been working fine without any problems, but one day I was playing a game on my computer and it randomly shut down. At first, I thought I accidentally kicked a cord, so I made sure every cord was in their sockets tightly. Thinking it was a loose cord that caused it to shut down, I tried to turn it on again. Unfortunately, there was no luck.   In furthur investigation on my computer, I noticed my power cord was making a small beeping/chirping noise every 2-3 seconds with its green light flashing on and off in sync with the green light. What I found interesting was when I unplugged the power cord from the computer, the green light would actually stay solid without it blinking or making any noise. When i replug it back in, it continues to blink and make the small beeping noise again. As a computer amateur, I am afraid to open my computer up and try to fix the problem myself. And I was also hoping for some solutions here on this site before bringing it into a store to get it fixed.  I also updated my computer to Windows 10 if any of that matters. Thank you for your time!

Hi, I have recently purchase (5 days ago) a HP Envy 15-J151SA, but its started to play up already. I had used my laptop yesterday at uni and had run the battery down to about 15%, so I plugged the power pack in as normal and charged the laptop to 100%. When I came to unplug the charger, the laptop just instantly turned off without warning. I thought this was very odd until I tried to turn the laptop back on to no response at all, no lights, no flashing, no nothing. I thought I'd plug the charger back in again and as soon as I plugged the charger in the light on the power button flashed oncw and then when pressed the laptop loads as if nothing had happened. Obviously when I load up apps such the internet and MS Word it says it wasn't closed properly and asks if I want to restore where I left it at. I have looked at other forums who have suggested battery tests (which come back as ok) and tries to recalibrate the battery but this hasn't solved anything, I have tried use the reset function (hold power and the beats button) but I don't have a beats button. It is all up to date with Windows and HP updates.Obviously being a student I paid good money for this laptop and haven't got the time to be messing around taking back to PCWorld where I bought it from.Any help will be appreciated, Thanks Spudy101

The other day I decided to turn my envy off for the first time in roughly a week. I usually just leave it on, plugged into the charger, putting it into sleep mode when im not using it. For some reason, ever since then I have not been able to turn it back on. Whenever I press the power button, The power light blinks. The pattern is a single short blink every 3-5 seconds. This continues until I take the battery out. Sometimes, if I leave it be for a day or so, I am able to get the computer to turn on, but It will not boot. I can hear the fan going, see the lights turn on as they are supposed to, however the screen remains black. I am under the impression that this either a hardware issue, or the CPU is just toast. either of which would suck. Normally I would take to a computer shop and have them look at it, but right now I'm serving in Iraq, so im SOL. And yes, I have tried everything under the sun to get it running. I have taken the battery out and left it out for an extended period, tried turning it on with and without the ac adapter plugged in, tried to perform a hard reset, and a combination of all of them.

Hi there, I am new to the Forum. I hope you can help me.The original Windows was 8 upgraded to 10.I replaced the bottom cover. The Notebook was working fine before. In the proses I disconnected the CMOSS battery, HD, DVD, WiFi adapter, etc. I have done this before many times. Before assembling all back, as I usually do, I performed a quick test. I connected the LCD, memory, CMOSS battery, on/off button board, keyboard and DC charger. When I pressed the on/off button the led on the on/off board turned on, the CPU fan turned on, the HP logo on the back of the LCD turned on, the LCD screen stays black and the caps lock led start blinking once every 2 or 3 seconds.Because this Notebook was Windows 8 and use UEFI I decided to finish the assembling and try again. It responded the same as before.I can?t believe that the MB is bad; it was OK before replacing the bottom cover. Probably something to do with the UEFI/Windows 10 combination??????What I have tried?1-Hard Reset: no battery, no DC charger and pressing on/off button for 15 seconds.2-Disconected the CMOSS battery for several hours.3-Turning on and hitting the Esc, F12,F11,F10? button many times (all the F buttons).

Hi, so I have a Dell Inspiron i3147 (11.6 inch) 2-in-1 running windows 10. For the past few months, the touch screen freaks out at random times. In the upper left corner, it looks as if someone is tapping the screen repeatedly, and with several fingers, making the entire computer unusable, since the cursor is constantly getting redirected to the corner. Usually, when I restart the computer, the issue goes away, however, lately (past week or so), I have to restart four or five times before it finally works.Around the same time, it started running unbearably slow. Now, I'm not sure if this is an infection issue, or a hardware issue, so please feel free to correct me if it seems this topic is in the wrong thread. Thanks in advance!

A:2-in-1 Laptop Touchscreen Issues

This can be as bad as a failing board or as easy as a bit of oil/grease in the wrong spot - but very unlikely it is an infection.  Do a thorough cleaning with an alcohol pad designed for monitors first to get any grime that may have built up -- then consider taking it to a repair shop for a (hopefully) free diagnostic if the machine is not under warranty.

I would really like a touchscreen. I would prefer a 15"+ screen but I'm open to less if there are good cost savings.

Other questions: I live in Canada, what shop/ online shop would get me the best deal? This isn't that urgent, should I wait until Boxing day or further? Would it be cheaper for me to order parts separately and put them together myself? Would it be worthwhile to make use of the 4GB RAM+ graphics card from my 5738zg or would it be incompatible/obsolete?

I don't need a hardcore gamer PC but I do want one that is good for my money and won't have me waiting around to load things

Definitely a lot of questions, but if you can help it would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Mark

SOme info about the laptop. Product Name: Sleekbook HP Pavilion 14-f004lOperating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit) I've had this problem a couple times already. The touchscreen stops working sporadically and the only way to make it work again is installing the  AUO Touchscreen Firmware/ sp63116.exe driver from this site. however this last time I've run into quite the weird problem. The driver installer CLOSES INMEDIATELY BEFORE I CAN DO ANYTHING A couple months ago I posted this:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/AUO-Touchscreen-Firmware-installer-doe... Since then due to time constrains and schoolwork, I did not attempt to restore the BIOS until today.Today I restored the BIOS, followed all procedures they gave me, and the installer for the Touchscreen firmware does the following: -Runs-Asks for permission-Install it-Finishes installing-Runs the program's window-Inmediately closes, I can't even click on anything because it flashes for a second and disappears. I've already restored the laptop to factory presets. The installer DOES THE SAME THINGRestored the BIOS. The installer DOES THE SAME THING So please, do not tell me to restore the laptop. I've done it already. Doesn't work. Same thing for the BIOS. Nothing. Can anyone help me? Thank you

So I've had this happen countless times. The touchscreen stops working. The laptop is in perfect conditions. The screen, not even a scratch. I format the laptop, it still doesn' work. So, I've always fixed it by installing the AUO Touchscreen Firmware/ sp63116.exe from:http://support.hp.com/mx-es/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-14-f000-sleekbook/5375393/model/5403360#... My problem atm is that this time, that process isn't working. The installer opens, installs the thing, then the program opens and immediately closes. This prompts windows to ask me if the driver installed correctly or that if it should attempt to install under a compatibility mode. No matter which I choose, it still does the same thing. It won't stay open for more than 1 second.  I've restored my laptop to factory presets a couple times already and the touchscreen isn't working yet because the driver/program/wizard thingy refuses to stay open after it is done installing. Can anybody help me? Perhaps share a different version of the installer? Thank you.

Hello all. First timer here.  I've had my HP Envy for only a year and it won't turn on.  Nothing out of the ordinary happened to it, but when I plugged in the power source and push the power button, the light next to the power input hole flashes 3 times.  I tried letting it sit overnight to see if it was just drained, but still no change.  I took battery out, plugged power cord into laptop and still nothing.  We use wifi as our internet connection and didn't receive and error messages or warnings before this happened. I'm not sure if it's just the power cord itself or something with the laptop. Thanks for any and all help!!! Joe

One night, a couple months ago, I was trying to play a game with a friend when my computer just turned off. It wouldn't turn back on. The next day I was able to get it to come back on and it had some boot message, but I didn't have time to read it before it booted. It was on but wouldn't charge. I turned it off to conserve battery a couple more times before it was permanently dead.I have tried hard reset, but I get absolutely no reaction from my computer.I have replace the internal DC power adapter, but the computer stills doesn't respond (also retried hard reset). So the motherboard should be getting power, but my computer doesn't turn on, charge, or blink. It worked initially after dying, so why doesn't it work now? What kind of options do I have? I would love to send it in to HP to repair (as long as it doesn't cost more than $400), but I have had any luck contacting HP support yet.My computer is out of warranty.

A:Best OS for old HP touchscreen laptop? HP TX2000. Droid?

For daily use, Windows 8.1 32 bit.

Very touch screen friendly, and has very low requirements. Had it running smoothly on similar old laptops with just as little RAM.

I mean there a ton of supper low requirement Linux distributions, but then you run into the pain that is setting up Linux to do anything. Not to mention not touch friendly.

So Recently I tried cleaning crumbs and stuff from under my keyboard. I removed it which was pretty simple, and used compressed air on it. When i put the keyboard back on some keys stopped working. Primarily my 2,w,s,x keys stopped working(All of these are diagonally from each other). I didnt know what it was. my sisters bf took a look at it and saw a small dent in the keyboard ribbon cable. So i ordered a new keyboard and was super careful with putting it back on. But the same keys dont work! I tried everything i could think of. The keys do not work at all. If it helps my laptop number or whatever u call it is 15-f337

How important is a touchscreen on a Windows 8 laptop? I am trying to choose a new laptop and find that is I want a touchscreen I can't have a hard drive bigger than 500Gb but if I don't I can get a 1Tb for less money. Obviously a touchscreen is not essential but having had a play with one in John Lewis it does look as if it would be easier to use. Does anyone have any thoughts on this please?
