How to change words in Uppercase to lower case

Q: How to change words in Uppercase to lower case

Hi I changed all lower case of "city" to Uppercase "CITY" USING Find and Replace. But when I tried to change the same "CITY" to "city" it didn't work. However I did get the message we have made 12 replacements but not even one "CITY" was changed to "city." When I tried to replace "CITY" with another word in lowercase, it replaced the different word but in Uppercase. Please help this novice in word. Thank you.

A: How to change words in Uppercase to lower case

Hello Mike, thanks for your reply. No I am not using Excel but Ms Word 2016. I think I found the solution to my problem. Find and Replace is case sensitive. Therefore to change Uppercase words to lowercase one has to go to "more" option and check the box "Match Case." I did that and I was able to change all "CITY" to "city" using Find and Replace.I hope this may be helpful to someone. If anyone has other solutions to this problem please do post it.Your novice in MS Word

I'm searching across thirty-some Word documents in one folder. How can I specify a search for words with specific case requirements? I'm looking for the word "lesson," not "Lesson," and I want to see what files it occurs in and where those occurrences are.

Thanks for any help.

PS: Bonus points to anyone who can tell me how to use Word itself to search across multiple Word files. Word's search is a lot easier to use.

Again, thanks.

A:Searching for upper- or lower-case words in files.

The only program that I'm aware of and am 100% certain can do case sensitive searches is GREP... but that requires doing it at the C:\ prompt.

But then again... I don't use Word for anything but term papers.

Everyday I upload some files to my website and to simplify my website operations, I use the same filename and just upload a file with new information every day. The case of file extensions is of no consequence to Windows 7, but it matters to my website. I want to standardize on one case and it doesn't matter which as long it's the same all the time. I have one app, the snipping tool, which seems to generally make files using uppercase, but I have some existing files that are lower case. I have tried to get rid of the lower case extensions by deleting the file and then recreating it with the same name. When I do, Windows changes the case from upper to lower. If I simply create a brand new file with no previous instances of that file in existence (as far as I know), then the default case is upper. How does one go about converting all existing files of a particular type to a standard file extension case, be it upper or lower.

thanks,

atom

A:Change file extension upper/lower case

Not sure you can as Windows is case insensative, but have you tried doing it from a Command prompt, enclosing the filename.ext in double quotes as "filename.ext"?

If that doesn't work, maybe a two step process would.

ren "FileName.EXT" FileName.EX"
ren "FileName.EX" FileName.ext"

Hi.

When I try to change the case from upper to lower or vice versa of filenames n windows explorer, the changes are not accepted. Also, adding or deleting of spaces in existing filename words is also not being accepted. I have admin privileges.

Thank you for help.

A:Can we change the upper/lower case of filenames in Windows Explorer?

Hi Seymoria, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Filenames in Windows Explorer are not case sensitive. This means that for Windows, the filenames ThisIsMyDocument.doc, THISISMYDOCUMENT.DOC and tHiSiSmYdOcUmEnT.DoC are all the same, the file would be found and can be referred to using any of these or any other combination of upper and lower case letters, as long as the name itself stays the same.

Therefore, if you have a file document_1.doc but you'd like to change the first letter to upper case D, selecting rename and changing the first d to D does nothing. Windows simply does not understand it, for it there was no change as the first letter did not change.

You need to work around this by renaming the file first to something else, then rename it again to Document_1.doc, this time using the upper case D. I use a neat trick here, changing the first letter from lower to upper case: I select rename, delete just the first letter of the filename, the one with lower case, then rename again this time entering the upper case first letter.

The lower case L on my computer has gone berserk. It will not function correctly in Windows. When struck nothing appears. However, if the caps lock key is activated and the shift key is held down, the lower case L works. The upper case L and all other keys work fine.

This is only true in Windows. Iím running Windows Pro 2000 and in the Windows login screen, lower case Ls can be typed in both the user name and the password fields. As soon as Windows comes up, it stops working.

I have tried three different keyboards, reloaded Windows 2000 and the keyboard software but the key still fails.

I would appreciate any help.

My computer:
--------------------------
AMD Athon Processor
AT/AT Compatible
256 MB RAM
--------------------------
The keyboard is a Microsoft Internet Pro PS2 (Brand New)

A:Lower case L does not type

You say that you have tried different keyboards, and that outside of windows the lower case L works, so the only thing that I could think of (and it's a long shot), is that when Windows has loaded (and any startup programs as well), a process or program has changed the mapping of the lower case L to perform some other function.
Have you tried booting into safe mode? This should stop any non-Windows programs from loading. Give this a try and see what happens. If the L works normally, then you need to see what programs are being loaded (in normal mode), and remove them one at a time (restarting and testing each time).

A:lsass.exe (lower case L)

If it's "lsass.exe" with a lower case "L", then it is a virus in the Sasser family, most likely. You'll need to scan it with a good antivirus either by using a boot CD with an antivirus on it or take your drive out and hook it up as a secondary drive in another computer. That should get you back up and running. You may have to do a repair installation of Windows after you've scanned it.

I just upgraded my 8 year old iiyama monitor for a new Dell monitor with a bigger screen with higher resolution - oh and I have got new spectacles. I had replaced the capacitors twice in the iiyama (having to keep jabbing the "On" button to get the current surge going) as I don't care for these new wide screen type monitors but I had to get updated eventually.

Anway, with my fantastic new monitor, I now notice that on both the Desktop (of Vista) and in Winodws Explorer all the letters "i" and "l" have an almost imperceptible red fringe or hue. How weird is that?

This happens whether I use the VGA or the DVI cable connection.

Amazingly, this issue was raised by wguru and Saga Lout on this forum 18 months ago but it is not clear to me whether anyone ever came up with a solution. The possibility of a virus or registry corruption error was mentioned but I did not understand whether this was ever proven.

I run about 3 virus programs most days and I woudl be devastated if I unknowingly had a virus. It is difficult but not impossible to believe. Having said that, I have occasionally tweaked the Rgeistry e.g. to get rid of "klingons".

I suspect I have had this issue a while but only with the new monitor has it become noticeable.

Any suggestions on what to try next would be appreciated.

As a newbie, first poster, it seems that I am prohibited from sending a PM to wguru or Saga Lout.

On the "Age" thing, don't even go there we have members in their 90's who get shot down in flames for calling the "Age" Card. I'm just 71 and, more than likely, there's a 17 year old reading this.
Unfortunately, in this Forum, once you've hit the "Post" button. That's what you've get, unless you grovel to FE and he makes the change with his Silver Mouse. But don't press your luck, he might weaken the once, but is unlikely to weaken a second time!

I booted with the XP CD to attempt repair, came up with a different error message.

I am stumped! I would assume a virus, trojan, etc.
I know I can pull the hard drive and format it in another system, then go from there, but trying to avoid that if possible!

Any thoughts on what has caused this issue?

Does anyone know why certain files won?t change the permission i put on the parent folders? It is quite strange,as it is only about 5% of the files on a given drive, when i change the parent permissions.

I am running a server with all my media stored as mkv and iso,and i remove ALL permissions from all drives except boot, and replace them with the permission Everyone, which should allow me to manipulate every aspect of the drive from any terminall on my home network, however this is not the case, some of the files have weird permissions which locks me out,and i have to manually change the permission of these files even though the parent drive and folders have the "Everyone" permission alone.

I need to set up certain words to change automatically in email, word, excel etc pretty much any where the word is typed.

Is this even possibles? It is an extensive list and will require updating from time to time

For example if the word Boxcap was typed it would change it to BOXCAP. Or Servo-Drive would change to SERVO-DRIVE

The select word will all be changed to all caps that is really the only change.

Also if anyone has advise on whether this can be achieved on Apple devices ie iPhone and iPad that would be very handy

Okay - the title is a bit strange.

It's like this: I open a program/game/whatever fullscreen.
And the programs loads, opens - and minimize to the taskbar.
I can klick on the icon again and again - it will be minimized over and over again.
The program then shows like 0.5sec of going on - and my desktop is shown again.

I use Win7 Enterprise x64 on that Laptop.
Some programs (so as "BlobbyVolley)" need a resolution of 640x480 - and my monitor cannot show it.

There is no problem with my Desktop-PC with Win7 Home Premium x63 - it opens every program. Without changing the resolution of the screen by myself. Then there are many pixels - but I don't care.

So - I hope, I could make myself clear.
If not - just ask. I am waiting for your questions and solutions

Kind regards

ghenty

A:Programs load but land in the taskbar until change to lower resolution

I know exactly what you're referring to. This used to always happen to me with Battle Field 3 - and some other full screen games. To fix this, I would restart my computer and the first thing I would do is open my game. (it would actually open) Then, I would set my game to "open in window," then once it started up I could choose to put it back in full screen.

This really isn't the most efficient solution but it worked for me. You may be able to get a better reply. :P

So I have this long document (604 pages) with a story that I'm going to print and bind into a book. I have now gone through the whole thing to iron out any misspellings using the spell checker and find/replace. Now the only major thing I want to correct is the italicising of punctuation marks following an italic word, especially exclamation and question marks, which is inconsistent throughout the document. This would be extremely tedious to do manually, so I have tried to come up with a way to do so using the find/replace command, but I have yet to find a way.

This is how I want it to look:

I was wondering if it be possible to remove everything from the manufacturer case to a bigger and better case, one with a little more room. THANKS

Hi.

I recently Purchased a new case and Powersupply to make way for my new Graphics Card.

I have moved everything from the old case to the new one and installed the new powersupply.

Now the new case connecter's were drastically different from my old one (I went from a Fujitsu-Siemens Case - to an Aerocool Case)

I plugged everything in where i believed they should go and powered up.

Now when i turnt he power supply ont he PC goe's straight into Bootup, it doesn't wait for me to press the power button.

The PC goe's throught he Bios page and onto the Hardware addresses page, Boot from CD comes up twice then the screen changes to go into Window's but it never gets there it just goe's black and Hangs.

Soi took everything that connects the case to the Mobo of (Except the Power Switch) i.e Speaker connections, Firewire, USB etc and booted and still the same.

So i try and enter the Setup or Safe mode but i realise my Keyboard isn't active.

I know the keyboard works (Im using it to write this).

ANy Ideas?

Now the first time i connected it up to the PC screen and turned it on it actually got to the windows Login page but the mouse wouldn't work so i turned it of and on and then got this problem.

A:Problems doing a Case Change

Double check the Power switch/Reset/Speaker/HDD indicator/Power indicator wires are plugged in the correct places. Sometimes the diagrams are not real clear on exactly which pins are the right ones for each. Check the jumpers on the MB to ensure they all are set to what the book says. Could be a jumper fell off or was not set properly.

Hey

Just bought a nice Xion II Modder's Case for my PC. I slowly removed all the parts from the old case, and carefully replaced them into the new case.

However, on boot up, depending on what IDE drive is connected, I get:

a.) a blank screen
b.) A bios screen with no memory check but instead a message simply stating "Memory...T"
c.) Differing amounts of memory (varies between 25000K(ish), and 3584K), even though my usual memcheck is over 1.25GB (1 x 1GB RAM stick, 1 x 512MB RAM stick)

I've tried every combination of IDE connection, including simply unplugging everything and plugging solely the HDD into the IDE1 port.

Simply put, when I first connected the PC back up in the new case I copied it EXACTLY as the old case.

In addition, the bios check screen is not as crystal clear as it normally is. There are strange symbols/artefacts littered around the screen.

I have a keyboard and nothing else plugged in, although the BIOS setup utility does not appear if I press F1 or DEL.

Any help is extremely appreciated!!

Cheers

I have an Optiplex 9010 SFF, and was wondering if it is possible to move the hardware to a new case? Preferably a full desktop size so i can install a full sized video card.
I "heard" that the 9010 (and potentially others) have a unique power button which prevents the changing of the case to a non-Dell case. Is this correct?

I've been working on my website and just uploaded it, and found that it didn't work. I found out it was because windows helpfully "fixed" the file names to uppercase. It worked fine in windows because windows doesn't care about upper or lower case but the website does.
Now I have a lot of pages that need links changed to lower case. I was wondering if there are any programs for windows that will replace text in the files, similar to word pad replacing text, but I could tell it to replace text in a list of files instead of opening each file individually and changing text.

Thanks

its because your server settings are set so that files are case sensitive.

Is there anyway you can force people entering into an excel spreadsheet to use uppercase entries (other than telling them!) so if they enter in lowercase it changes automatically the text into uppercase?

A:Uppercase in Excel

You can use code in the worksheet module (the easiest way to get to it is rightclick the sheet tab & "View Code"). Along the lines of:

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Selection.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
Target = UCase(Target)
End Sub

Hi,
I have just recently bought a new case for my desktop as it was having overheat problems.
The new case has 4 cooling fans.
Once everything was connected and turned on I noticed a horrible static type noise from the speakers that stays at the same volume no matter where the volume has been set.
I use a M-Audio 2496 sound card. I thought it had blown. So removed it and reloaded the onboard drivers. Still the noise.
The static noise seems to come about with hard drive activity. i.e. the flashing hard drive light?
The new case fans have LEDS. Could this cause a problem?
The hard drive holder mounts the drives on rubber stops. I thought maybe they needed to be earthed, but when i touched an earth cable to the 2 hard drives , no difference.
Appreciate any help?

Help! Because I'm the DBA, my employer assumes that I know (or even care about) Access. Because of some personnel changes, I've inherited an Access flat-file DB - with a "request" to clean up the data for the next person who will use and maintain this DB

If I can get some help getting started, then I can figure out how to do other data clean-up tasks.

First (and hopefully only) call for help: in Access 2003, how do I convert to upper case, all letters in the "room" field in all records in the table "main"?

In SQL: UPDATE main SET room=UPPER(room);

I have zero understanding of VBA (although I used VB 12-15 years ago), and don't know how to get started writing a query using VBA. I've tried reading some books, but they tend to assume prior knowledge, e.g., how to invoke a code editor in which to write the code.

I could probably use sql and odbc, or export to CSV, import into SQL, fix, and import back into Access. There are probably other possibilities, too. But I have an awful feeling that this is not a temporary situation, so I may as well suck it up and learn Access.

A:How can I change case size in Mail app in Windows 8.1?

There is the ability to change font type, size and color but it only seems to effect messages you draft, I don't see anyway to change the font of received messages.

If the Win 8 mail app doesn't work the way you want, why don't you install a different mail client? Personally, I use Windows Live Mail but the are others such as Thunderbird. This may not be an option for you if you are running an RT version of Windows 8 since you are limited to whatever mail clients are available in the Windows store.

If you are having a problem with your laptop not closing because of the hinges that attach the screen to the casing have come loose. Then it's probably because the uppercasing that hold them in place have broke off because they are thin plastic.  This will be the last HP laptop I will ever buy again. I have read several post about the HP laptops breaking at the hinges and preventing users from closing and openig their laptops. I spent $1000.00 on this laptop and even praised the laptop to several others. But last night the uppercase broke at the hinges which prevents the laptop from closing or opening.  I called over a dozen numbers at HP and they want me to pay $272.00 to send it in for repairs or I could pay $120.00 for the part which is 720570-001. I have attached images as well to let others know what I'm talking about. I have only owned this computer for 2 years and use it for work and my college courses. I don't have the time or money to waste on this nonsense that HP sales its consumers. It's wrong and neglectful. I could understand if I bought some cheap off-brand product but this is HP and $1000.00 is not cheap!  Needless to say, I hope this helps someone by giving the part number which again is 720570-001 which took an HP employee and I over 30 minutes to figure out. However, once you order the part you will still have to dissassemble the laptop and put it back together again. Basically, you are building the laptop from the ground up, literally. ... Read more

This database that i am putting together has a somewhat strange requirement. The person im building it for is obsessed with everything being in uppercase for Billing purposes. There are several forms, several front ends, one back end. Is there a simple script i can put on the front end that will affect all data entry regardless of form being used in the front end.

So if they open up data entry everything they type is uppercase. If they open up a water work order everything they type is stored in upper case etc. I don't want to put something on every field and you would think there would be a one stop spot i could put something that will force all data typed to be Ucase. Any ideas?

I have what i hope is a quick/easy question to answer. Whenever i transfer files from a CD-RW disk back to my hard drive, the names convert into upper case. This doesn't happen from the floppy drive or cd-r disks, only cd-rw & only on transfer back to the hard drive, not in transfer to the disk.

I have a HP cd writer (getting fairly old now) with adaptec direct cd software. i'm running windows 98. I DON'T have the "allow all upper case names" option in folder options ticked and it also happened on my old computer and is still happening on my new computer (same cd-writer transfered to the new computer).

Does anyone know how i can stop it happening? i know it's not a huge issue, but i've just bought a new computer (still getting it up & running) & i really don't want a PILE of files all with upper case names if i can avoid it, so really hoping it can be fixed

thanks

Hi, I'm using excel 2003 on a server. I have 200 rows of business contact info, including fields for name, address, email, company name, etc. All data is in all caps. I need to convert to Title Case. Is there a way to do this globally to the worksheet? Can I use the PROPER function to all fields at once?

Thanks

A:Need to apply change to title case in entire worksheet

Go to the first free row, or better yet leave a few rows and then do this, will make it easier later, and enter proper(XX) Where XX is the top left cell you need to convert, Then just drag the cell by the box on the bottom right to encompace an area of equal height and width to the origional data. Then copy the data and paste as values in a new sheet, or over the old data, and all should be converted, if you need more detailed instructions just ask, but it should work.

However, many are INCORRECTLY named like this:

You can see, the 'ABC' part has been lowercased.

Is there any way to BULK find/replace 'abc' with 'ABC' in the file name?

A:Bulk FIND & REPLACE with UPPERCASE of file names...

There are batch renamers, but I'm very unfamiliar with them. I use xnview, which is a freeware image browser, and it has the capability of changing only the case of files.
Say all the files are in a folder. You can right-click the folder and pick browse with xnview. Then click ctrl-A to select all the files in it. Then right-click and pick batch rename. Then make sure all the boxes are unchecked except "case". And in the drop-down menu pick "name uppercase" or "name and extension uppercase". If you need to set all names to uppercase and all extensions to lowercase (and it happens to be a mix of both), do it in two passes.

However, it never gets to the boot screen (or any screen). If I open the case and press the power button, however, the power button turns green and the computer works fine (loads all the way up and functions like normal). If I close the case after it has started, it continues to run fine. I'm guessing / hoping it's not the mother board or power supply that has directly gone bad... but maybe there is a connection or something? that changes from when it's closed to when it's open. I've heard of something like... the motherboard is shorting out by touching the case... but I'm not really sure where to look for that / how. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have an Acer Aspire X1700 (Details
It's about 2 1/2 years old now. Came with Windows Vista, I upgraded it to Windows 7. Also has a newer video card than what came with it.

Anyway, The PSU fan is getting really obnoxious, it gets really loud (more or less like a lawn mower). I have taken the thing apart and have tried every suggestion given to quiet it down, which it does for a whole week or two. This is a small form factor PC, so to even take the power supply out you have to basically take out everything else just to get to it. I have looked for replacements but they are very obsolete. It's only 220W anyway, so i'd like something a little more powerful.

What I want to do is get a larger case that I can use the same hardware is (motherboard, drives, etc) and purchase a larger power supply for that case. 220W really limits the PC. The small case holds a lot of heat even with all fans cleaned and working properly. Even just taking a CD/DVD out that was in it is very hot. I want a case with better airflow than this one.
I really am not sure what kind of case to get that will meet my needs. I don't want anything really fancy. If possible I'd like to get it off newegg.com

Any suggestions would be great.

could be overheating CPU. Did you apply fresh Thermal paste to the HSF after reinstalling the motherboard? Is it tight and secure? Did you blow out all the dirt, dust and debris from the fans' fins?

Now another question comes up regarding modifying the cooling of my case/ computer etc.

I was wanting to carve two 3 1/2" holes in the top of my case, for two 12cm fans. Now I know fully how to do this, however, I was wondering which direction the air flow should go. Should the fans blow into my case? (Like I suspect) Or should I have them blow out?

The orange highlights are the fans I wish to add. Which direction should I have the air flow setup?

A:Case airflow question before modifying case

I would have them sucking air out. Hot air rises, and the side panel fan will hit the VGA's mb, etc and spread out, also they are right next to the PSU. You wont have any really big difference either in or out , but I would have those two pulling the hot air that manages to make it to the top of the case out. and negative pressure tend to run a bit cooler overall.

I am trying to put another hard drive in this dell opitplex 260x of mine. It is becoming nothing but a pain in the rear cause the case uses them stupid green sliders and the case is too small. Could I use another computer case like remove all the parts and transfer them over to the other case.

say a case like this
http://www.atxcases.com/products/productdetails.asp?main_catid=1&catid=6&prodid=352

A:use another case instead of the dell optiplex case

Hey guys, so I have a problem
I had W7 Ultimate x86 and my cpu (phenom 9600) got a score of 6,2
So I installed W7 Ultimate x64 and score changed to 4,9
So it had a same score as my previous cpu (athlon 64 x2 4000+)
Tried to rerun it, got same score
Installed W7 Ultimate x86 again and score was 4,6
Then I installed W7 Professional x64 and score was once again 4,9
So does anyone know will this affect my pc performance
And is there any solution for this
Thanks

A:WEI getting lower

Not sure why your score would change, it should stay the same no matter what version of windows you have installed.

It will not affect performance, it`s just a number.

I am now on Windows 7 Build 7201 and while I've been updating it so it fits what I want such and programs and all that I realised I had to update Realtek. Well, I did and I got the version that works for Windows 7 and its basically the same as I had for Vista really. What I'm actually confused about my speakers don't max out to what they used to do on Vista, I know my speakers aren't damaged in anyway so I'm obviously blaming either the drivers or the OS. I max everything out as possible to see how loud it goes compared to what it did on Vista and its not exactly as loud. Can anyone tell me why its like this and if there's a solution around this.

Thank you for any help.

A:Sound lower than what it used to be

What other things have you tried? Have you tried hitting up the sound icon in the control panel and checking out the settings? Do you have your microphone connected and is it running as well at the same time you are trying to say listen to music because it could be that if your mic is one for some reason, there is a setting in windows that will lower the audio volume to allow for clearer conversations through the microphone.

Is there a realtek audio control panel? Have you tried playing around with the settings in there? Let me know if that idd not help at all and I will try again

I recently up-graded my cpu from a Q8200 to a Q9400, before the up-grade my WEI for the CPU was 7.3 but with the new Q9400 im getting 7.1, yes it?s a lower number.

After looking around at other peoples scores It seems that my old Q8200 was a fast one and my new Q9400 is a slow one.

Would anyone like to comment.

Why would a chip running 300mhz faster and with more cache give a lower WEI reading?

A:Faster CPU = Lower WEI

It could very well be the processor itself. Try as they might to be consistent, there is always going to be variance in processors of the same model, even if we were to use two processors from the same production run. It's plausible that you indeed had a Q8200 that could handle more calculations per second than your current Q9400. Regardless, I wouldn't read too much into the WEI scores, as they are not a reliable indicator of real world performance.

Hello,
I have been having pop up problems in both Google chrome and ie7 for the past couple of weeks and cannot seem to get rid of them.  I run avast on my computer and a full scan does not find anything, I also was told to try registry mechanic and while that seemed to find a lot of problems, it did not solve the pop up issue.

This is my first time using these forums and unfortunately I am not all that computer savy so if you could gently walk me through a fix I would greatly appreciate it .

I read through the preparation guide and ran the DDS.  Hopefully this is what I was suppose to copy and paste.
Thank you so much for your time!

I have R7 260X 2GB OC from MSI and the card is old maybe 3 months or so. Now everything is fine with it but I noticed that my Mem. clock speed on GPU-Z is 1250MHz and core clock is 1050MHz while everywhere on the internet I see Mem. clock 1650Mhz and core clock 1150MHz. Just google it and you'll see that every 260x has higher clocks than mine. Since it's OC it should be even higher than stock what's up with this?

A:My GPU clocks are lower than others

Have you tried getting something like GPU Tweak(http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=9&m=ASUS+GPU+Tweak+for+Graphics+cards). Or using AMD overdrive to overclock it back to stock speeds. A reason that the GPU's "stock" speed is lower than others is because you CANNOT make a exact clone of a GPU/CPU from silicon there are a few variables that come in to play. And the card may underclock its self so that its "safe".
Hope this helps.

My headphones are mega loud for some reason. Right now 0 is the best volume setting lol. In XP there was a wave multiplier in the volume mixer that I used to fix that, but I don't see that in Vista. And it was annoying, because I had to change that every time I restarted. Is there a multiplier in some config file somewhere I can change to fix this permanently or something? Thanks

A:How can I lower the volume more?

Right-Click your task bar
Click Properties
Click "Notification Area" tab
Checkmark "Volume"
Click "OK" button

Your volume control should present itself as an icon next to the system clock

Clicking on it will present you with the master volume control, clicking on mixer will allow you to select the volume for individual applications

If it's still too loud you could go into the control panel and go to SOUND and tweak the settings there.

If all else fails they do sell some headphone with volume control built in and you can control it that way

Okay, so i was playing Left 4 Dead today and have had this annoying lagg for quite a bit. My graphics card Contributes but one problem is my Ping is normal 200+MS while playing Which gives me 20-100 FPS. So how would i go about lowering my ping.

A:Lower Your Ping

i found that it depends if you click on quick match or search, the ping varies with which server you are connected to, sometimes you are connected to a server thats steam powered and sometimes your connected to a dedicated team server, the dedicated servers are the ones that you may get best connection with, the steam servers are pap.

I purchased a new Toshiba laptop with Win 8.1. On my old XP Dell, I was able to copy a 699MB folder of music MP3 files to a CD to play in my car. I've done it many times, and have 8 folders on my computer that I frequently copy to CDs for that purpose. In the past, I've copied 700 MB of files to a CD without difficulty, so I learned to maximize the number of files by storing the data in groups of 699 MB to avoid overloading a disk.

I tried to copy those folders to a CD using the new Win 8.1 machine, and have discovered that the CD capacity is only about 696 MB. I'm using the same CDs, and attempting to copy the same files. The only difference is the operating system and the new hardware. When I contacted Toshiba, the tech said Windows 8.1 stores files differently on CDs and the capacity is about 2MB less than on older machines.

Can this possibly be true?!? Is this a Windows 8.1 problem, or a hardware problem? Do I need to use my older XP computer to maximize the number of files I can store on a CD? Can anyone explain what's happening? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

A:Lower CD Capacity on Win 8.1?

If you want to maximise your file storage I suggest you use your old computer however you could buy a bigger size disc and store the music from your new computer. Your choice!
