Q: kodak all in one printer has nerver printed correctly

hi my name is Sam i have had a printer brought me from parents all time i have had it has never printed. ink miss prints and bad quality i have read reviews which sound very positive but why is mine really bad

A: kodak all in one printer has nerver printed correctly

Did it ever print ok? Have you tried cleaning the print heads - there should be feature in the printer properties or Kodak monitor program to let you do this. Clogged heads are most common cause of bad quality printing. If it doesn't improve after several cleans, then best throw it away - printers are cheap, repairs are not.

Hello, I am happy to supply whatever tech info to resolve this issue which has defeated me for 6 months. I cannot connect my HP G60 laptop Vista to HP printer or Kodak. Having looked at old threads I am not the only person to run up against this very hard problem. I would prefer not to bin my Laptop and buy an apple mac for compatability issues with 3rd party software. My solution at present is using a stick and transferring to XP sony lap top which is a nightmare as both have different versions of microsoft office. I am new to this forum and apologise in advance if my thread post does not meet the standards required of this collective. many best wishes to all.

Please help

A:Printer deletes documents before they are printed

G'day steviejay, sounds like you have an intelligent printer that is censoring your output!
That is a worry, I haven't seen that problem previously.
You might try having a look in your control panel, system, devices or device manager, with a bit of luck when you scroll down through all your devices you will find a USB printer, (assuming yours is usb) if you open that item you should see something like "this devise is working properly" which is a good start for troubleshooting.
There should be no yellow exclamation marks on this item.
Are you quite sure your print queue in the print manager is being actually deleted?
What kind of printer is it?
The assumption is that it is a PC using a windows variant.
Cheers, qldit.

Hi, one of my clients is using the Epson ex 330 dot matrix printer on a windows xp sp 2 machine. Now this printer stopped working on this machine since the 24 pin port on the motherboard got spoilt. So I tried to connect this printer to this machine using a USB to parallel port converter. Now the thing is that the printer is added but when I try to give a test page print or any other print the print spooler shows 1 doument printing. But within 3 seconds it disappears and prints nothing with no error message. Another thing is that this printer used to run on the Epson LX 800 driver since there is no EX 300 driver is the default drivers list. And now I have added it on the same i.e LX 800 driver. But I don't think this should be any sort of problem. Expert help is appreciated. Thanks!!

I have an Access database used on daily basis to enter and print the maintenance work order in a report format. I have assigned a command button to print the required record. On clicking the button in the Form, a parameter query will run asking the user to put the record number to proceed. Once the correct record number is entered in the parameter text box, the report is previewed and the user click on the print button to print the same.

My question is as follows:

Is there any method to find out the record i am going to print now was already printed before? A kind of record keeping for the printed records.

Also, a message box should warn the user saying incase if the record was already printed, “The record was previously printed, do you want to continue printing again?”

Please tell me a way to perform the above in my Form.

A:Record keeping of the printed records & warning user when printed more than one time

could't you just add a field in the record for printed?

Then if printeed true, show warning, else show printable form.

I am accessing an HP Laserjet 4650 via network and everything works great except for when I try to print out 2 or more copies of a 36-page PowerPoint presentation. I have both checked and unchecked the Collate box when I'm about to print, but neither seems to actually collate the printouts; it always prints out pages like 1, 1, 2, 2, 3... etc.

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, newbie here and to Windows 10,

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 (upgraded in the loosest sense), first it was no sound which after hours of messing about I managed to fix, but now I have no printer at all.

Windows 10 does not recognise my printer, it is a Kodak 3.2 wifi printer on my home network, it was perfectly fine in Windows 7, but even after trying to add device it finds nothing, I updated the driver to Kodak's latest and still it won't recognise the printer.

I would not be too bothered but I need the printer working for work related stuff, no idea how I can get this os to find the printer, anyone have any ideas please?

I am starting to regret this upgrade, I also have files that won't delete due to invalid ms-dos errors, oh and I can't figure out how to make my background picture into a slide show as my picture files won't show up on the slideshow tab for some reason.

Maybe this Windows 10 needed more beta testing before release, too much is going wrong.

A:Kodak 3.2 printer

Is anyone able to help?

Have tried installing the printer through a wired connection but Windows 10 will not install any drivers for it, keep getting errors, I have checked network sharing and un-installed all drivers and re-installed the latest kodak drivers.

If I try to install drivers I keep getting 'could not find file, error 0x00000002' and it stops, all print spooler services are started as well as all dependencies, can't figure out why it won't install 1 driver.

Hope someone can help.

I have a laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit) and I cannot get my Kodak 5100 AiO printer to work. I have downloaded the latest software from the kodak website and downloaded the latest firmware but programs such as notepad, paint or word will not print. The only thing I can get to print is a calibration page from the "maintenance" button under "Printer Preferences". I'm on hold with a kodak tech. as I type this message. So far, he's had me remove device & install the printer with no results....still can't print. Next thing we just tried was stopping & re-starting the printer spooler.....still can't print. He put me hold again. We went to "device manager" I had 2 usb composites, so he had me uninstall one. I then removed printer again & re-installed the printer.....still can't print. Back on hold so he can talk to his supervisor. Now I've been asked to uninstall the printer and download the software and firmware again. This will take awhile. If anyone else has had this issue resolved please let me know how.

Most reviews I've been reading are negative. But their reasons are generally negative due to receiving the printer without a usb cable or that it's not bluetooth capable (whatever that is). Some say it prints like crap unless you use only Kodak paper, while others say the print quality is okay on other brands of paper. The ink is supposed to go much farther than others as well. So I'm wondering if that part is true, does the ink last much longer than what would be typical? Also, has anyone used non-Kodak paper in it and it works out acceptably? I don't print my photos at home, so that's not an issue. I just want the kids to be able to use it for classwork and for printing documents, so quality doesn't have to be out of this world. Input?

A:Vista and a Kodak printer.

I am having the same problem. I have VISTA Ultimate SP1. I checked the logs and it tells me that Kodaksvs.exe crashed, then the print spooling system crashed. Kodak sent me a new USB cable, but no joy.Tried their cleaning program and reinstalling from the web but no joy. Requested that they post the entire download of the AIO installer so it could downloaded and installed instead of the web and they reacted as if they had no idea of what I was talking about. Since the problem couldn't be resolved by their standard procedure, which means they couldn't find it the manual, I asked for the next level tech help. The person who I was talking to put me on hold and then said his Supervisor wouldn't come out of the office. Then they blamed it on my motherboard and said I had to go to the MB manufacturer and download the proper drivers. My USB HP 1320 works fine, the USB mem sticks work fine, my WD MyBook works fine. Every thing works but the Kodak 5500 AIO wont work with USB. I was able to hook it up to my network with a print server from Cables to go and I can print to it, but cannot scan to the computer. Its definitely a Kodak software issue.

I have already contacted Kodak and they told me my printer is broke and I need to buy a new one. I really think it should be fixable it was a stupid mistake that "broke" it. And all they did was have me unplug and plug it back it to see if it would unfreeze it. Very technical of them . . .

Anyhow, I was hoping that maybe someone else might be able to help me out. This is what happened, I opened my AiO home center and while messing around in there a firmware update popped up. I clicked to update but then saw that I was supposed to have my printer on. Well, little did I know that you are not supposed to stop the process of a firmware update but that's exactly what I did. I hit ctrl + alt + delete and ended it. Since then my printer has become non responsive and the pc no longer detects that it is even there. I just can't believe that that one stupid mistake could have completely broke my printer. There must be a way to fix this. I'm running Windows XP on an HP athalon 64 X2 with 4gb of ram. The printer is a Kodak EasyShare 5100 all in one printer. I have tried to install the new firmware in the printers current state but I get a message that no printer is detected. Really dont know where to start with my problem
Have been using my desk PC & Kodak esp 1.2 aio printer together quite happily for a couple of years.
Have now decided to use my printer instead with my Lenora T430 Thinkpad.
My printer recognises my router signal but when I try to add the printer to laptop devices/printer etc it shows a correct picture of my printer as if it is an installed device, but nothing will print.
When I right click on picture to give instruction to make sure it is default setting for printer, that default setting option isnt there, it starts the options with start scan, start profiles, start properties etc.
Its almost as if the laptop only recognises the printer as a scanner.
Also printer only seems to be installed as a short cut?

I am not sure if this is where I need to be or not but here goes. I have a Kodak EasyShare Printer Dock 3. I have had it for about 4 years. I tried to print pictures from my camera by docking it on top of the dock as usual. It printed two pictures ok and then when I started the third one it ran it through the first time and then stopped. Said there was a paper jam. The paper had come out the back as usual but then did not go back through. I turned the printer off and cleaned the rollers. When I turned it back on it said that I needed to change the color cartridge. Even though I had not used all of the one that was in the printer, I changed it. The color cartridge usually have color film showing. This one did not it was clear. It still tells me I need to change the color cartridge. Thinking that the cartridge was defective, I changed it again. It is still giving me the message to change the color cartridge. Now the cartridge is locked in and I can't get it out. I have a Kodak all-in-one printer ESP3. Originally its "Home Center" software always required confirmation from UAC that it was OK to continue, which was annoying but I learned to live with it.

Today I allowed the Kodak software to update to the latest version; and the software then stopped working. The printer would still print from Word, Excel, and so on, and the Home Center still requested permission to start from UAC, but even once it was running it was still unusable because whatever I selected I just got an error message from it, and I always got an APPCRASH message when I tried to close it. The Home Center software is neded if you want to use the printer as a scanner, or change any of the printer defaults.

Kodak say the only way to cure it is to turn UAC off permanently because their software is not compatible with UAC. Sure enough this cures it - but I wanted to leave UAC on. Have other people had the same problem, and does anybody know if there is a better workaround?

How can Kodak advertise their software as being compatible with Windows Vista and 7, if it is not compatible with UAC?

Need some help on this.

I have a Kodak Easyshare printer and it doesn't print anything I send to it.

As far as I know everything is correct. I'm figuring it's some kind of driver problem, but I don't even know where to start.

it's connected to a Computer running Win98SE

Anyone know where i can get a driver for this printer?

A:Kodak Pro 1400 Printer 64 bit Driver

Kodak Tech support tells me there isn't one. He suggested installing the printer on a 32-bit machine (which apparently does work) and sharing it.

I'm having problems with my Kodak ESP 3250 after a clean install of Vista 64-bit.

My first install had no problems with the printer. I simply turned it on and vista automatically detected it and installed everything perfectly. Unfortunately I recently ran into problems and had to do a clean install.

I have re-installed in exactly the same way but no matter what I try this time it won't install.

Going the automatic route fails to find any drivers.

When I go to the Kodak website and download them, they cannot find the printer. When I point Windows in the direction of the drivers I have downloaded when installing it does not accept them.

Similarly when I go to control panel-> add printer and select my exact model from the list I get the error message:

?Printer driver was not installed.
Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000002)?

I would really appreciate any help...I've wasted hours trying to solve this!

I have a new Kodak printer and a new laptop but I cannot connect to the printer. When I search for appears in my network but when I try to add it it says that it will not print to printer. I reloaded the software and it just sits there and searches for
the printer. My wife has the same new laptop as I and hers will print so I know
it is not the printer

Can anyone suggest anything. I tried to change the printer sharing under discovery and it is grayed in so I cannot change it

This is what the error says: as I mentioned earlier, my wifes laptop works fine Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000709) make sure that you have typed the name correctly and the printer is connected to the network.

Any help will be appreciated

My computer sees it in the add printer wizard.
It's a Kodak ESP 7.
The Printer: is blank I am supposed to type something there but what I don't know.
I click on both the listing for the printer in the shared printers section:
KODAKAiO and then I click on the KODAKESP7_0696
I have clicked next both times and I get this error
You need to specify a valid network printer name. (I don't know what to type in that box when I first set it up.)

I gave up added added it via USB , but this is not how we want to use it.
We have three computers that need to work with it.

I am using a AMD XP Processor
with 512mb+ DDR SDRAM memory

Our router recognizes the printer and the printer recognizes the router.

I have posted my dilemma to Kodak but have not heard back yet.

To print the current network configuration:
Load plain paper into the printer. (See Loading plain paper.)
Press home
Press to select Network Settings, then press OK.
Press to select Print Network Configuration, then press OK.

then we can at least check if the printer is connected OK first

My daugher in law has a Koda Easy Share camera and printer dock 6000. She also has an HP all in one printer/scanner. They both use usb plugs to connect to the computer. She had an older HP with two USB ports and could never get the two to work together. One had to be unplugged for the other to work. I gave her a two year old Dell with 4 usb ports. She still has the same problem. I am not real familiar with usb ports, but if your computer has more than one, shouldn't you be able to use them? Thank you for any advice.

A:Kodak EasyShare Printer dock/usb problem

I have 6 USB ports and something is plugged into each of them. They all seem to work fine together.

Multi-units seem to have problems more than most other devices. If you haven’t already done it, download the latest driver from HP. You will have to uninstall the old software before installing it.

My Kodak printer has been working wonderfully till today. It has started printing out in purple. I have cleaned the printer head twice. It helped for about 3 pictures than started again. The color cartridge is getting low, but I have never had it do this when it got low before, it has always printed beautifully till the cartridge ran out completely.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you solve it? I'm hoping it's not something major, I love this printer. Please let me know if you can help.

A:Help with Kodak Easy Share 5300 printer

I don't understand what you mean by color cartridge? Kodak says there are 6 of them on that model. Surely it must have a way for you to check the levels doesn't it? To me it sounds like the black one is empty but who knows. It's definitely a ink supply problem though.

I have been trying to figure out and find any help on forums with Kodak and Microsoft/Windows. I am trying to scan pictures with my Kodak AiO 5300 printer to a file on my computer, (Dell Dimension Windows XP Home Edition). When I try to do this I get this pop-up
"Please wait while Windows configures center" and it progresses to load and then stops at 3 seconds remaining. Then I get a pop-up that states:

Sorry if this is in the wrong place on the Forum, but I could do with some advice or feedback.

In June 2012 I bought a Kodak Hero 5.1 Inkjet printer. I chose this because I was impressed by reviews and the fact that Kodak insists its ink prices are the lowest.

We don't use the printer that frequently and so I was very disappointed that the first set of cartridges ran out after only about 60 pages (standard text, no photos).
I contacted Kodak Help Desk (in India I think!) who said it may be because the printer came with partially full cartridges.
I reluctantly accepted this and spent the money (approx Ł22) to get another Black and Colour cartridge.

This time, I got approximately 90 pages out of the full kit.

I contacted Kodak again and explained I was unhappy. I even printed off a test page which alleged I'd actually printed 199 pages (not true!). I was told that I should print in 'draft mode' so that I'd use less ink. I complained that their marketing material doesn't say you should have to do this. They gave me a Reference Number and asked me to monitor the situation.
Again I spent another Ł22 and kept a record of pages printed .

A few months later, I was on the phone to them again. This time, I'd managed to get 114 pages (even though the Test Page reckons I'd printed 200. I again went through the issues and even calculated the cost per page (which was ridiculously high, even if I'd printed 200 pages).
This time, the guy on... Read more

I'm running Windows XP SP3. I've just purchased a Kodak ESP 3250 printer, and I have installed all the software, but when it comes to the part where I have to connect the USB cable, I do, but it fails to detect any printer. When I connect the USB without the software, Windows detects it as a new device, and says it is installed and ready to use. It then shows up in Device Manager without the yellow exclamation point under the name, "Unknown Device". I've tried to "add new printer" and assign the unknown device the drivers but nothing works.

I was talking with Kodak support for over an hour and they just gave me the basic, re-install, re-connect script to no avail.

I should also point out that the installation CD it came with was faulty. This included the software version 4.2. Instead I went to the Kodak website and they only had the latest driver version of 5.1 which doesn't seem to detect my printer. Could this be the issue? I've tried to find a previous driver on the net (namely 4.2) but to no avail. Or is this maybe a problem with Windows or my Motherboard drivers? do I need to install something that will make the plug & play work? I'm not sure and I feel like I've tried everything.

Thanks in advance for any help.

hello everyone!

I just signed up because I need some serious help, im goin crazy with my problem.

Well to start, I have a 'Easyshare printer dock 6000' hooked up to my computer via usb.
I havn't use it in a long time, and I tried to transfer some images from my camera to my computer earlier today. But I got a message saying USB device not recognized, and it wouldn't connect.
Then I tried to manually install it from the the control panel by 'add new hardware', and it just tells me that its working fine. Oh and it won't let me print from the computer either, even tho it gives me the option just tells me 'error printing'

now if i just put the camera on the dock, and use the buttons to print that works fine, i can do that.....the main problem is the computer not recognizing it.

The only software that came with it is 'kodak easyshare software' and i don't think that has anything to do with it really.....

I'd appreciate any help, this is drivin me crazy< I don't know how to fix it.

I seem to have found a way to unzip and have a valid current driver available but unless the machine recognizes the hardware I cannot proceed.

A:Solved: Installing Kodak printer dock series 3

First and foremost, follow the manufacturers instructions for installation. Performing steps out of order can often result in devices not working or not working properly. If you don't have the User Manual, you can get it here:

Lack of device recognition, would seem to indicate a hardware fault. Either the device itself, the cable, or the computer/USB port. Even without drivers installed, Windows should recognize hardware is connected.

Uninstall the software/drivers, reboot, and install again.

Try using a different port and/or a different computer.

I have an HP LaserJet 1020 attached to a WinXP Pro workstation via USB. I have an Intel iMac networked with the PC wirelessly. I can detect the LaserJet on the iMac just fine, and on the iMac, documents spool and even say they have printed (they show up in the "completed" section of the printer control panel).

So, the iMac thinks the document printed, but it never did. When I look at the print queue on the Windows machine, I see "Remote Downlevel Document" in it. I assume that the iMac is printing to a port instead of starting the Windows Print Spooler, and this is why it is showing up with this name.

When viewing the LaserJet's queue on WinXP, the downlevel document is "Printing," and "113k/113k" has been transferred. But the document never prints - if I try to "cancel" the document in the Windows print queue, it says "deleting" for a verrrrry long time. Documents can be printed just fine locally on the Windows workstation.

I have verified that the password string is correct.

The printer is configured to use DHCP to obtain and IP address.

The problem that I am experiencing is that the printer is not getting far enough in the connection process to attempt to obtain an IP address.

Tis printer was previously connected to a Belkin Router using WPA/WPA2 TKIP. But the Linksys router does not support selecting TKIP.

I am trying to help an elderly neighbour who is having problems.

He bought a Kodak C315 printer in September last year and used it without a problem for 5 months but then it stopped working giving no error message.

I deleted the printer, ran the kodak clear software and then reinstalled it which appeared to be a complete success. Windows said everything installed OK including drivers and it's ready with a green tick. Windows also shows it as a correctly installed printer but if you ask for printer properties it says printer driver not installed and we can't print or scan anything.

If you click on update device driver and choose the Kodak driver directory the printer model is listed but then on attempting to install the driver windows says it encountered a problem, "No driver selected for the device information set or element"? Tried everything including the latest software with drivers from the kodak website which windows and the kodak software say install correctly and everything working OK. But it will not print or scan and windows just keeps saying drivers not installed when asking for printer properties despite both the Kodak software and Windows saying the printer was installed successfully and is ready.

Installing a USB printer can sometimes be bit tricky second time round if you don't first uninstall it's driver, turn off the printer & disconnect it's usb cable from the PC so you are then at the correct stage to re-install just as if you were installing it for the first time as per Kodak's installation instructions. I do know many people have slipped up there when trying to re-install a USB device. They didn't start out with a "clean sheet" and with the device turned off and disconnected.

I don't know what else to suggest if you already did everything properly, other than ditching the Kodak and buying a Canon (the only printer brand that I would have in my office den).

A:DLL error messages when trying to install new printer software & Kodak camera softwre

The error 1335 can occur if the CD is dirty (fingerprints or scratches) or sometimes can be caused by antivirus software conflicting with the operation of installing (disable AV software while installing).

I feel for you losing all that precious info, but you need to remember though that hard disks fail quite often, and you could lose everything at any time. You need to treat the hard drive as temporary storage only, making sure all precious data is stored on at least one medium outside the PC.

I have an HP Photosmart Premium C309g wireless printer. It is connected wirelessly to my laptop and our home desktop computer. I have been having a few problems with it.

Sometimes, when I send a document to print, nothing happens. Other times it prints but takes ages ie it will take a long time to start printing, then it will start printing a page, maybe pause for a few seconds and then continue and then repeat this pattern. Just yesterday, it was in the middle of printing a document when it suddenly stopped halfway through a page and didn't start up again. The print job was still in the queue as was the print job that was supposed to follow it, but the printer didn't do anything.

Any ideas what's going on? It sounds like it might be a wireless connection problem to me but damned if I know how to fix it.

Have one of the oddest problems I've ever encountered. Have a mail-merge document linked to a query in an Access database. It works perfectly on my computer, but does not work properly on the laptop and printer used by the non-profit client where I installed it. The printer is an HP OfficeJet 6600. Laptop is a Dell.

Thinking the client's letter had become corrupted, I tried copying my copy of the mail-merge letter to the client's laptop. Produces the same result, which is that the letter truncates every line half way across the page. . . as though someone placed a blank piece of paper on the left half of the page to blank it out. The MM letter includes the envelope, so for every record, you get both the addressed envelope and the letter.

In addition, when the MM letter is on screen and you merge it (clicking the "ABC" icon in Office 97-2003), it looks like some parts of the letter are on the envelope. . .but they don't print on the envelope.

The client tells me this is the ONLY MS Word document that does this; all other document print perfectly.

I am trying to print a page within Yahoo mail. I have set to print just the selection I highlighted but the print continues to run off the right side of the page. I am trying to print in the portrait format. How can I get the entire page to print on the first page without running off the page? This is very frustrating. Thank you.

A:Setting printer margins correctly

Are you having problems printing from any other web pages? I suggest you cut&paste the info into Word or Notepad and then print.

When I print from one of my programs it prints OK. When I print a file that I downloaded from on-line it prints what looks like a program for the file. Any ideas? Hope I explained that correct.

I recently downloaded the latest version of Kodak Easy Share on my computer which is a Dell Dimension 2400 XP. I had trouble getting pictures to computer from Camera. I finally figured it out. Now I can not upload pictures from kodak easyshare program to the kodak gallery so I can order the pictures online. It says it is not available at this time and I should check the firewall settings. Before I downloaded the 8.0 version I had no trouble ordering pictures online.

Using a Dell Desktop with XP.

I've had this Canon printer for several years, bought new, and it's been working fine. I usually use grayscale for printing. Awhile back, I replaced the black ink cartridge (OEM) and everything was fine. Recently, I replaced the 3 color cartridges and suddenly my printed page has 1/2 lines and 1/4 lines (as if they've been decapitated) AND lines are skipped, as if I'm printing in triple or double-double spacing. A few lines on the page print correctly, except for the spacing in between. AND where the spacing is, the text is missing--in other words, it's not simply triple space between lines of text, the text is missing where lines are blank or skipped.

I have been browsing and searching for answers, but all I can find is 'do tests' and clean the print head. I do not know how to clean the print head, I do not know where it is or how to remove it to clean it.

Also, when I try to print in full color, the page comes through blank. I put the old cartridges back in and got the same results.

I'm sorry, I don't recall if I printed anything successfully since I replaced the cartridges. All I know is one day it was printing fine. The next time I tried to print, the page was skipping letter spaces and line spaces, looking like a foreign language, and when I tried to print something else, I got the line skipping.

By the way, I'm in the USA.
Any help would be much appreciated.

A:Canon i560 printer won't print correctly

When they say clean the heads there should be a function in the control panel for that printer where you click clean

I would start by first have you removed the strip that will allow air in from the cartridges

Reseat the Ink cartridges

Uninstall the software for the printer and re-install it

Also some printers will work for a while with oem ink but will stop working

After I got my new laptop, my mom had wanted to print a few things off of some websites. After the installation of my Printer (HP Officejet V40) onto my new laptop (HP Pavilion g7-2010nr Notebook PC), I tried printing those things. But there were always problems with each of the printing attempts.

1. There was always an error in the Printing Queue that didn't let me print anything.
2. When I printed off of Google Chrome, one or more of the pages would be skipped unless it was the last line or so at the bottom.
3. The sites don't print out correctly sometimes or the printer stops suddenly after 1-2 pages
4. At the end sometimes it just randomly ejects a blank sheet.

I've tried using the troubleshooter and it says it is fixed, but the errors keep happening. I don't know if I should get a new printer or not..because school is in 2 weeks for me and I need a printer.

Hi Guys,

I've narrowed down my reserach to 3 cameras (Canon-S1-IS, Kodak-DX-7590, Kodak-DX-7440).....I've searched on internet and these are the cons

Kodak-dx-7440 : Low optical zoom (ok for me)

Kodak-dx-7590 : No image stablization

Canon-S1-IS : very bad Indoor/lowlight focusing, EVF freezes, comes with alkaline batteries, too small LCD, bad focusing overall

Now my requirements are -

1) Family events/parties (mostly outdoor night, low light, low light indoor shots),

2) Sight seeing (mostly daylight shots of monuments, buildings etc, can be night shots too like of Times Square NYC),

I want to use automatic settings and my top priority is to get good shots in a variety of light conditions all at some automatic (without having to fiddle around with the complex settings, although I'll learn them later on). As for the 10x zoom, I'm just considering it for fun right now, but if the cams with zoom don't perform well in low light / bright light conditions in automatic mode then I'll leave them. I'm not planning to buy a tripod or do bird watching or do wild life shooting etc, my shots will be around family events, indoors and sight seeing types mostly.

Please suggest which one of the above 3 cams would be the best for these requirements.

Thanks in advance.

A:Canon-S1-IS or Kodak-DX-7590 or Kodak-DX-7440

From what you say the 7440 sounds like what you need. The 33mm wide angle is wider than most for including more in the shot. The 4X zoom range is good for most photography if you aren’t into wildlife photography. Flash range is adequate.

Jeff at DCRP said this in his review:
“There's a lot to like about the Kodak EasyShare DX7440 -- heck, I even bought one for my mom. It's easy-to-use, very responsive, full-featured, and expandable to boot. The biggest weakness is on the camera is the image quality -- photos were "muddier" that I like to see, especially on things with fine detail like grass or trees. Don't let this scare you off, though. For people like mom who print at 4 x 6 inches or downsize for e-mailing, these are non-issues. "Pixel inspectors" who view the images on-screen at 100%, or those who print larger than 8 x 10 should probably try another camera. The DX7440's photos have vibrant color (perhaps too much so) and very little redeye, and I can attest that they look great when printed.”

He tests almost every camera that comes out, and if he bought one for his mom it is probably a decent and easy to use camera.

I have a Publisher file (calendar) created by a customer that views fine onscreen, and prints fine to my Canon black and white ImagePress, but when I print to my color copier (Canon T1) the image is partially cut off (the job is supposed to run in color, so I need to print to this machine).

Looks as if the month grid was created in Excel and somehow imported to Publisher as a graphic. Some of the numeral dates are slightly cut off from the right, as if the cell wasn't wide enough to accomodate the text; for example, the numeral 30 - the far right of the 0 is partially missing. I have a call into Canon, but was hoping someone else has overcome this glitch.

I´m a newbie here, and doesn´t know too much how does function this site, I´ll try to help where I can, but I came here to ask something that is bothering me.

I´ve just bought an Epson Deskjet USB printer (C42 UX) and installed it correctly (it worked alone, when "filling itself")... The problem is using it under my Windows 98 SE OS.

First, I had no USB ports, so I bought also a PCI to USB card adapter and installed it and Win98 could detect it OK.

Second, I tried letting the printer turned on and booting the system. It detected something and installed an "unknown device".
It seemed not important, so I installed the drivers of the printers... but when the driver installation tried to check the printer port it didn´t detect it, and I couldn´t detect it ever since.

After this, I have tried a lot of things... Checking the BIOS to disable any unused port/device... enable anything related to USB (which I had to disable again, ´cause seemed to be an *onboard USB port*, but as it didn´t have the actual ports, I didn´t see).
I also tried to remove the "unknown device" and turn on/install the printer after the boot. And also install it via control panel... but nothing worked.

I tried checking with the Epson support here, but they´ve said that it is a problem with the USB port, so they couldn´t help.
Windows won´t let me install any driver from the Epson CD directly for this device... it says "The specified location does not c... Read more

I purchased a new Kodak All-in-One 5500. Making me crazy, every time I turn it on a pop-up comes up saying I have a camera connected (I don't), and what program do I want to select to "launch"? One of the options (#1) is something called ABBYY FineReader 5.0 Sprint, I have NO idea what that is or where it came from. The other two choices are Kodak & Microsoft, which I at least recognize. Help!..what is this ABBYY thing, and do I want it highlighted as the default choice?

A:Kodak Printer & "ABBYY FineReader"

If I'm not mistaken Abbyy FineReader is an OCR program. OCR stands for "Optical Character Recognition". It's used for converting scanned images into editable text.

This is something that has been bugging me for a while now, and I've been unable to solve this problem. Perhaps someone out there can provide some guidance.

Sometimes, I'm unable to print things (such as online coupons) because I'm told that my printer is set to "Keep Printed Documents." I've tried disabling this setting via the Advanced tab under the printer's properties. However, when I do this, click Apply then OK, and close the tab, the setting automatically reverts back to "Keep Printed Documents". Does anyone know why this is happening? It's sort of frustrating to not be able to set the printer settings the way you choose.

I appreciate any tips/suggestions you might have. Thanks!

I have searched to find an answer to this problem of faded pictures when printed from windows photo gallery. I have seen a few others having the same problem, but no solutions. I am hoping that someone now can help.

I can print pictures from other software on my computer, from the internet, etc, with great photo quality. When I print from Windows photo gallery they are very light and faded looking. I have made sure the adjustments are for my printer.

It seems that most of the people experiencing this problem had canon printers. Does anyone have a solution to this?

A:faded printed pictures

I have found the solution to this problem, you need to untick the checkbox for "borderless printing", this is how to do it:

When you click print, go to Options > Printer Properties

Click on the "Page Setup" tab, then Untick the box that says "Borderless Printing"

Hi all,

Well not sure if this is the right area for this but not really sure what the problem is.

When I boot my PC during the bootup dos stage I hear my PC making noises, it still boots up Windows 7 ok but as soon as I open something I get continious R type accross my screen, If I hit the caps lock it changes from R to r.

Thought it was my keyboard having the R locked down so tried to fix it, no luck. Changed keyboards with my spare one no luck. Disconnect all keyboards no luck.

So where is this R coming from, its impossible to us my PC at the moment as soon as you click somewhere (word, exel, Google etc) an R/r appears.

Any ideas where to start?

Other than dogging the print preview, and struggling with the size in any pertinent image editing software, has anyone found a reliable way to limit or control the size of a printed web document?
to wit:
I scanned an odd shaped document, 3x8" to email to myself at another site, and the printed form was big enough for two pages. What a waste.
I print receipts regularly and they, 99% of the time have a "trailer" on a last page that has stuff like web site address or URL, a Secure Website emblem, or other, clearly unnecessary printing. My introduction to Windows word processing (WordPerfect) had, and I still use, a "makeitfit" command. Invoking such a command AUTOMATICALLY when printing from the web seems like a simple, brainless way to conserve'll give me a fractional font (e.g. 11.9 vs. a 12) and would prevent the idiotic tendency of a printed page to only have the leftward 80%, l which leaves off the important stuff like the prices...(you gotta print landscape to avoid this)
And I thought a computer was to make life easier, boy was I ever misled)

A:printed size of web documents

The problem is that web pages are usually coded to make them look good on screen, and that tends to make them "unfriendly" when printing.

Web pages designed for printing do exist, and it works well in those (few) cases.

Cutting and pasting into a word processor is sometimes the only workable solution.
