My grandchild was playing a shooting game, when suddenly the picture when sideways and there was large lettering.

I was able to upright the lettering, but still have the large lettering on the font.

I tryto get into a folder or program, but the large lettering prevents acessing all the information.

I was able to play TW08 golf game with no problems, but when I finished and returned to windows large lettering still there.

Have tried to find somewhere to reduce the size to normal, but unsuccessful.

I will shortly need to move a large number (20,000) very large (20-30Mb) image files and associated tiny xmp sidecar files from one hard drive to another.

MS file explorer will make a meal of this so any suggestions for alternatives please? I have several folders each containing many thousands of files as above so moving a folder en-bloc is an option rather than file by file?

A:moving large number of large files to new drive

Simply drag and drop the folder(s).

Might want to do a copy first, verify that everything did indeed get copied, and then delete the originals.

First post here on the SevenForums! I'm only saving the tough ones for you guys! Here's the problem:

My client's computer was infected with a virus obtained via Facebook. I removed this and multiple other infections (and I'm pretty thorough with my scanning). She gets it back, starts working on it, and apparently her devices and printers icons are blank. Not missing, like with a "blank page" icon, just... blank. Here's the kicker: it only happens with large and extra large icons. It also happens with normal folder icons. When I change it to medium or lower, they come back. I've tried rebuilding the icon cache database several times, tried sfc /scannow, tried chkdsk, tried uninstalling any recent updates, etc... There have been no hardware changes, the hard drive has been tested as good (no bad sectors), her dual monitors are at a sane resolution, and I'm confident that the viruses has been removed. Trust me -- I've tried all the obvious stuff I can think of. Thanks and Good luck!

Edit: Also, I did about 30 minutes of searching through previous threads. Couldn't find a thing, but I could have missed it...

Well you probably pulled some icon cache files off that were infected but also had the L and XL icons. If sfc didnt work you could try a repair install. It will re-install only the files with different hash marks.

PLEASE HELP...

I have been converting my cd's to mp3s since the first winamp. This process has been extremely time consuming because I have many, many, many cds. Recently I have encountered a bug that continues to plague my priceless collection. I generally keep all my mp3 files in a single folder (over 6,000 files). I use winamp to access my media and create playlists for my mp3s. The problem seems to occur randomly. Very larger portions of my archive disappear when viewing my mp3 folder. Usually I will have ordered sections disappear. i.e (middle b - z gone). They almost seem deleted. The weird thing is that are still availible in a pre-created playlist or media list. Also, I can type the path name (if known) and access the file. I have tried many methods to backup the missing files but I cannot seem to crack this puzzle. Is there any software that might perform a deep scan of my HD for mp3 files and retrieve the missing ones? Then I might be able to back them up and look for a solution to this problem.

THakns!

On my friend's computer, when she tries to use the Filmstrip view on Windows Explorer, the large preview does not appear anywhere. Also, the thumbnails appear at the top of the window rather than at the bottom. This happening on every folder both on her local machine and on her server, and to every user on that computer.

Changing the customization of the folder to something else and then back does not fix it. I made sure she did not have the "Use Classic Folders" set and that the "Show common tasks in folders" setting is set. I also made sure that she was using the Windows XP style for her display. I just don't know what else to try. Is there a way to repair this, or to reinstall that particular pluggin? I imagine there is something wrong set on the registry, but doing a quick search on regedit for "filmstrip" yielded no results. Any one have any ideas?

I am puzzled why, as far as I can tell, everything else seems to be there except this one single folder.

This is what happened: I run registry cleaner section in Ccleaner, and following that it was giving me an error message that the locally stored profile can't load, and it could only log me on with a temporary profile. Needless to say, I could not access any of the things in my profile.

I took my computer to the service place, but first nothing was done for 3 days (3 very painful days without my computer and being worried about the fate of my things on it...) and then the IT guy did work on it some, but I don't know what he did and I don't think he did much or didn't get far in any case, because when I picked my computer up there was no difference.

After that I was searching for some answers or suggestions on various forums etc. I tried system restore but it could not restore it. Then I ran chkdsk and it worked, it repaired one file (ntuser) and then my profile loaded back, looking like it always did before, except that as far as I was able to remember, one single folder is missing.

I looked in the hidden files and folders (by doing: windows explorer : tools : folder options : view tab : check show hidden files and folders : uncheck hide protected operating system files : OK) but I don't see it there.

The folder I am talking about was probably quite large, containing many sizable word documents and a number of pdf files. I think it was in "my documents&... Read more

I want to print 'something'
Annoyingly, it will have a LARGE black area - or maybe a large area of something else - another colour

I print: I waste ink, lots of it - bad for the world, costly and expensive wasting that ink, if on an inkjet - also rubs off on you!!

Is there a printing program that examines large areas, if they are of a similar colour, substitutes it for a zigzag pattern of the same colour?

See below for a rough sketch of what I mean:

I did a quick search on google, couldn't find anything - but then again, I wasnt sure 'what' to search for!

Thanks

I am backing up my Win 7 folder just before moving to WIN 8. The folder is 65G in size. I just copy and paste from my laptop hard drive to my external USB drive. I started the copying just before I went to bed last night. This morning I saw a pop up windows saying that 12 files cannot be copied because the path is too long. The option is "skip' or 'Cancel'. I took the skip option and the copy job completed. But it does not tell me the name of the 12 files that I skipped.
Now my problem is how do I found out which 12 files are missing in my backup.
I know that I can do the copy paste again and watch out for the error message. But it is a waste of time sitting in front of the screen. That was why I do it over night.
What is the best way to do this kind of work other than using some backup software.

Check whether the external drive is formatted NTFS or FAT32. If the drive is FAT32, then the maximum allowed size for files is 4GB. You'll either need to convert the drive to NTFS, or split the AVI file into smaller chunks that fit within the FAT32 4GB boundary.

The Yahoo search page font is much larger than usual. However, on the other accounts on my computer, the fonts are just fine. This is not a problem with anything else like the start menu, it is just Internet fonts. I've looked around and haven't found any settings that might allow me to change the size of Internet fonts. The appearance/settings in properties are all fine, so I don't know what the problem is.

Hi All

I have a bizarre problem on a clients PC - his Dell PC came with XP SP1 but I've got it updated to SP2 and on Auto-Update - Its got a 40GB internal disk. I've added an external 100GB USB2 drive to run backups on - its working fine.

Now the problem is when I try to add a USB Flash Drive - I get a "USB Device Failure" error message ---- the USB Flash Drive works fine in other systems AND works on the Dell if I remove the 100GB USB drive.

The Dell system has a very light USB load with only a HP printer/scanner and the 100GB external drive (being powered by its own supply) so there shouldn't be any USB overcurrent issue.

Some where I've read about XP having issues with large HDs -- any ideas here. To me it really seems like XP is confused

A:Large HD and XP

The only thing that comes to mind here is that the device I/O settings aren't set properly, and there's a conflict there. It might not be this, but I'd check that out.

Does it do the same if the Flash Drive is in, and then you hook up the Hard Drive?

Hi all,

I have an old P3 Cel, which is relegated to lesser duties. It has a 40g HDD pinned out to 32g. I would like to use the whole 40g and set up a Linux /GNU partition.

I downloaded a third party BIOS update from WIMS bios page which was reassuringly signed as untested use at own risk.

How do I use the .bin file and can I unflash, should the system crash.

Thanks in advance

Michiba

A:Old MB large HDD

You need to read your manual or online documentation on your system as to how to flash the bios. Each mfg is a little different on HOW it is done. Yes you can [generally] flash back to an older bos version.

While doing a bios update is not difficult, if it is done incorrectly, you can render your system unbootable. That is why I recommend you first read your manual.

I jsut installed a 7 inch fan (well at l;east i think its seven inches) anyway the case funnel to the CPU blocks most of the large fan, what I am asking, is it better to take the case funnel away and let the big fan remove the air out the back (CPU directly infront front of the fan) or keep the funnel in the case over the cpu fan and heat sink and let the large fan be somewhat useless. I really do not know if this is a security problem but it is weird. I was using a program called Space Sniffer to find large files that I could remove to gain space. At C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Works SE there were a bunch of numbered folders (0-3)and inside No. 1 were a few jpgs that looked normal, (Pictures of people sitting at computers, Microsoft 2007 "Try it for 60 days" etc.) The full address is C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Works SE\1\http^3a^2f^2fads.msn.com^2fads^2f^2f1. All pics were around 20 Kb. except one which was 2.67 Gigs. It was the same visual size as the others but had a humongous text content. You can resize them with any photo editing software, but for Windows ME, I found this programme to be my best and easiest way. You just install it and set the size you want for your images.
Ongoing then if you right click one pic, or a selection of pics, and select ezthumb - resized copies of the pics appear in the same folder with just that one click.

Yes, it sounds like you are stuck in Safe Mode

Try these
1. Press F8 just before windows loads and you should have the option to load regularly or in safe mode. Just load regularly.

Or
2. Start/Run and type in

OK

Click on Boot.ini Tab, and see if there is a check mark next to Safe Boot, if so uncheck it

I'm trying to design a very large cook book on my computer. It will consist of recipes that I've personally typed up as well as recipes found online. I want to have the actual recipe saved as a Word document on my computer or a link to a website if I find one online that is interesting. I want to be able to have these fields in Access: Recipe Name, Ingredients (possibly one cell for each ingredient), Total Time (prep and cooking) and a link to the necessary place. I would like to be able to design a query that would allow me to type in my ingredients that I have handy and the query will find only recipes that have those ingredients in them. I'm aware of parameters and such, but I want to be able to type in all my ingredients at once. So, for example, if I had chicken and cheese and guacamole I would want this recipe to show up http://www.online-cookbook.com/goto/cook/rpage/00183D . Would this be achievable? I'm aware that www.kraftfoods.com has something similar but I don't like it. Thanks!

A:Large Access Db

Scubab,
I think it would be simplest if you had a form with a checkbox for each ingredient. Behind each ingredient would be a number, such as chicken = 1, beef = 2, pork = 3 and also for the other choices, such as tomatoes = 11, okra = 12, rice = 21.

As each ingredient is checked off, that value becomes a filter from your selection of "recipes," which in your case is actually URLs.

It is not obvious from your post as to what your level of using Access or Access VBA might be. Also, I just joined this forum now, so I am unfamiliar with the level or type of answers here. Experts-exchange is my usual haunt, and I usually am asking questions, not answering them!

mobo: DFI CA64-TC
bios: Award Modular Bios v6.00PG (03/26/2002)
hdd: 200gb

I've checked several sites, including AFI, and it seems I have the latest bios version installed for my mobo, which unfortunately is WAY too old (03/26/2002) and does NOT support HDDs larger than 136gb/137gb. I'm so frustrated at DFI that I'm even considering flashing to a different DFI model that fixes the HDD restriction, but fear it'll lead to a FUBAR situation

I actually just need DOS to recognize the HDD's full capacity. Are there perhaps DOS drivers that can do this? -or- Is there perhaps a generic bios I can flash to that can support larger HDDs?

Any help is much appreciated

Hey all,
I work at school that the network goes down 1 to two times a day. The 20 switches(cisco 2850) show that network has way to much traffic at all that time. All the ports are pretty much solid when this happens. It happens at random times thorughout the day we have about 1000 xp machines and 20 imacs. The only part that does not go down are the computers connected to the mdf which is a cisco 6506. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be overloading all the 2850 switches causing everyone not be able to get on the network or get to any of the servers.

Thanks

Hi Joeee

There are a couple of things you could try.

Plug in a USB mouse and hold down the Control Button while scrolling with the Middle Wheel to change screen size.

A bit more fiddly, is Right Click on a blank portion of the desktop, choose Properties and Settings. Change the screen size to one that fits.

You may find an option in the Menu bar under View/Text Size.

A friend of mine went to a yahoo personal profile & went into one of there briefcases, instantly he saw pictures, then it took him directly to a pornographic site. When he hit the Close button it directly took him to another porno website and they kept appearing faster than he could close them. So today I get on the computer & go to explorer & in my C:\Documents and Settings\Jolene\Start Menu there is 2 short cuts labeled ( words I 'd rather not post) I didn't open them I just went to properties got the file names and did a search for those files.

here is the info I retrieved

Size 635 KB
Size on disk 672 KB
16 files/ 5 folders

Size 583 KB
Size on disk 612
15 files / 5 folders

I instantly did a virus scan and found nothing. So what are these files & how do I get rid of them?

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

A:Very Large files, what are they

Please do this. Go here http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ and download Hijack This. Un Zip it and click on the Hijackthis.exe.

Click the "Scan" button when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

Do NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless. Someone here will be glad to advise you on what to fix.

Make sure you are running the most current version of IE, Internet Explorer 8.

Have you tried resetting IE settings? In order to reset IE
First make sure to exit all programs, including IE.
Click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box, and then press ENTER:
inetcpl.cpl
If you use Windows Vista, click Start. Type the following command in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER:
inetcpl.cpl
The Internet Options dialog box appears --> Click the Advanced tab.
Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset. Then click Reset again.
When Internet Explorer finishes resetting the settings, click Close in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box.

I hope that solves your issue!

Hi RM2007 !

What's the maximum display resolution you can set in the display properties ? You probably need to update your video drivers.

Your computer is pretty old and there doesn't seem to be any drivers for XP available from Dell's website.

Found these drivers from Ati's website : http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/legacy-xp.html. Yours should be the second one (under Rage Pro).

If your video card has the standard 4MB memory then once the drivers are installed you'll be able to set your display resolution to 1024 x 768 (85Hz).

About the run command, check that it's checked to appear in the sart menu properties :

My 2004 HP A650Y was powered-off and unplugged from AC for about a day and a half.
When I plugged it back in and turned it on, the images on the desktop and online are all larger than they were before turning the computer off.
I must have done something to it, but I do not know what.

At the suggestion of a friend who is only mildly less stupid than I am, I went to "Properties" from the desktop and adjusted the "screen resolutions" settings. They were at 800 by 600. The next adjustments 832 by 624, and 1024 by 768.
Neither of these are where the display size was prior to unplugging the computer the other day.

How do I reduce the size of the images on display returning it to the original size from a couple days ago?

Hello all, I am thinking about using a large tv as my computer display, say a 40" - 50".

Is there a way to split this one display in to grids or multiple screens, like multiple desktops?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

A:Large TV as Monitor

Maybe something like GridMove: http://jgpaiva.dcmembers.com/gridmove.html
But at the hardware level it will be one monitor.

Or you can always resize any windows/programs to fit the screen. With Windows 7 you can also use the Snap screen feature: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows7/arrange-windows-side-by-side-on-the-desktop-using-snap

Depending on the TV the max resolution will be 1920x1080 or 1360x768 so that may limit how much stuff you can use on the screen at the same time.

Archive them to another PST. You can create another data file and stoe it on a server share and he can drag and drop them to th newly created PST which will show up as a second mailbox underneath his main one in Outlook. This of course will also fill up over time and becomes a vicious cycle. Being an archtectural firm I would think you would have your own email system internally.

Hi, I'm trying to use MSN to transfer some files to a buddy of mine. The files are about 300 Mb each, there are two files total(600Mb).

Each time I try to send a file out MSN tells me that the transfer failed and timed out. Is there a limit to the file size that you can send through MSN?

A:MSN:How large can files be?

How are you sending it? Email has a limit, of course. But there should be no limit on size if you are using FTP or something like that.

A few weeks ago, my computer began to experience regular Blue Screens. I generally ignored this, simply rebooting the computer. These were probably triggered by me plugging in a new kind of mouse.

Anyways, after a while, I ended up getting a rather severe error. The blue screen identified some sort of error with ntfs.sys, the exact details of which I wasn't quick enough to write down. Upon reboot, I had to launch start-up recovery. Using a System Restore point, I was able to dig myself out of trouble.

However, a week or so later, I experienced the same problem, with the same solution...and then, a few days after that, same problem, same solution. I'm sure you get the gist of where I'm going. Now, I'm stuck with a computer that won't boot, without a restore point. I've tried memory diagnostics, chkdsks, and multiple Startup Repairs, but nothing has worked.

If it matters, I'm running Vista Home Premium 32 bit, SP0, on a Toshiba Satellite A200.

Any ideas?

A:Quite a large problem.

Was it perhaps a wireless mouse? SOME wireless drivers for key/mouse don't seem to agree with Vista. I was using..err TRIED using a Belkin and it froze up almost immediately. When I uninstalled the drivers, and switched devices all was well again.
But I bought a diff brand ( Logitech) and have had no issues since.

My uncle has a Dell Inspirion 1150 laptop, running Windows XP. He also has AOL. I'm not sure if this is a Windows problem or an AOL problem. Can't find anything in the Control Panel. Not even in Accessibility. My aunt recently died and he wants to learn how to use the computer. The problem is everything seems to be in large print. I can see it on the screen but, when it prints out, it is so big the entire right side is missing. How can I bring it down to more normal parameters?

Also, when I Search for something on AOL, the resulting text is very big. The words only go about an inch wide before it wraps which results in a few letters all the way down the page on the left side instead of something I can read.

I've never had these things happen on my computer. I don't use AOL and that's confusing enough!

Can you help?
Judy

maxtor hd 30Gb

trying to install XP on it as an entire c: \ drive instead of 2Gb partition and 27.xx Gb

i've fdisked, Y for large disk support, formatted c:, deleted the primary dos partition (2Gb) , left the EXT DOS and made it active (27Gb) as there was no way to delete it.

then installed XP on a FAT32 format and still get this C: 2Gb and D: 27Gb crap..

tried partition magic to "merge" partitions, and that crapped out in the restart..

so how can i get XP installed on the C: \ drive

could I be limiting myself by using a win98 boot disk ?

I'll be attaining a fresh new maxtor 60Gb drive in a few days, how should i go about making that one big c: \ drive ?

suggestions pls..

A:want one large C:\ drive ??
