Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

Q: Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

A: Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

I'm in the market for a small (10-11" screen), light, Windows 2-in-1 to use a secondary PC. I want to have it in my bag all day to use for light computing tasks (MS office, reading + annotating pdfs, inking in OneNote, email and internet) when away from my main PC. Situations where it will get most use include commuting and travelling, and at meetings.
I'm considering both the Surface 3 and the Yoga Book.
What I think I favour about the Surface 3
- 3:2 display
- Inclusion of full size USB port
What I think I favour about the Yoga book
- Lighter than Surface 3 + Keyboard combo.
- Might be better for use on lap (stability) and whilst standing (lightness) ????
I'm not really put off by the virtual keyboard on the Yoga Book because for light computing I'm happy enough typing on an iPad on-screen keyboard.
Some things I'm uncertain about
- Is Surface 3 stable enough and with a small enough footprint (when the kickstand is out) for use on your lap?
- On the Yoga book, can an adopter be used to charge and use a usb peripheral at the same time?
- Do we have an idea yet of comparative battery life of the two devices (beyond manufacturer claims)?
- Is there another device in this 10-11" class that I should be considering?
I'd really appreciate any thoughts anyone has and answers to the questions I'm uncertain about. It would really help me make my choice.

Hey, I am starting my first year in the University next year, and I need a laptop.
Most of my time I am watching Netflix and surfing the web, so I am searching for a hybrid laptop, 2 in 1.
I checked laptops for a while and found 2 that are in my budjet and they are looking good:
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 128 GB Intel i5
Lenovo Yoga 500 500 GB Intel i7
I dont know what to choose, I prefer the surface (because of the pen) but lenovo is cheaper.
Other recomendations are welcome as well.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the help!

A:Microsoft Surface pen on Lenovo Yoga 500

Neither the "Surface Pen" for Surface 3, Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book nor the old "Pro Pen" for Surface Pro and Surface Pro 2 are compatible with the Yoga 500 as it lacks a suitable digitizer.I recommend getting the ThinkPad Yoga 460 as it supports pens based on the Wacom Active ES technology.

Hey Guys I'm rather confused about the pen support for the new Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 15. I've read quite a bit about it and find the information quite inconsistent. Some say it does support active pen some say it will in april and some say it doesn't. What I would like to know:A.) What kind of pen technology does the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 15 support atm?B.) Are there any changes in sight? / When? / What changes?C.) Can I write on it while resting my hand on the screen aka has it palm rejection?D.) How good is it for note taking? Can it keep up with my writing speed? Links to videos where I can actually see it being used / tested would be greatly appreciated.

A:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 Active Pen

From what I know there isn't too much information out so far. But here's what I found out. First off, the current Thinkpad Yoga 14 and 15 don't support pen digitizers at all, and will not in the future.Secondly, the Toshiba Encore 2 Write apparently uses the same technology. See this thread. Here's what I know:- It's called Wacom "Active ES" as in Active Electro Static.- It's battery powered. Unlike Wacom's older technology, you need a battery in the pen.- Palm rejection is more of a driver thing and not the technology. So it works, basically.- People say it feels "different", not sure if that means better or worse.- Precision is apparently very good, perhaps even better than the older tech without battery.- Pen lag (speed) doesn't seem to be an issue. Might even be better than the older technology. Other than that I personally couldn't find any information about whatever will be built into the Thinkpad Yoga 14 and 15 Only that they call it "Active Pen" and that it will be out in April. Also that the displays will support something called "anypen" which basically means you can use any pen-shaped metal object to write on the display. But that isn't really of any interest to me because I want pressure sensitivity.

I?m currently experiencing issues with inconsistent digitizer pen pressure/sensitivity.When painting within CS6, the strokes will suddenly and randomly grow thick and bold, despite brush settings for opposite results, and without a change in the pressure I apply to the screen. I am running CS6 on a Lenovo ThinkPad S1 Yoga, with a Windows 10 64-bit OS.Is this an issue with my Lenovo, Photoshop, Windows 10, the pen, or something else? What steps can I take to resolve this matter once and for all?

A:pen pressure w/ lenovo thinkpad s1 yoga

Hi

Maybe you can try updating some of the driver related to the Pen.

There is the Wintab Driver for Windows 10. Check if you need to update it.
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds041384

Other thing that also may help is doing some "trial and error" with other pen related software, link using Inkscape and configuring it with the pen just to try it out.

Seems like Lenovo, for some probably sincerely hillarious reasons, has decided to put out the P40 to European markets only in FHD, WITHOUT the option to upgrade to wqhd.  This decision, to me, seems to render the whole equipment useless and leaves me wonder to whom are they making their laptops for? My first guess would have been customers.. but the more I think about it the less I believe it to be so.  If there's someone from Lenovo listening, here's something to consider: Putting out P40 in US only in WQHD and not even giving that as an option to European markets is just simply silly. Also, as you produce another viable option for anyone who's looking for an alternative for Surface Book, which is the Yoga 460, I'll give you a tip on that too: you probably shouldn't max it's ram to 8gb but let it go w-i-l-d on the full 16.  You almost had it right. Close. But no. Not this time.

A:Lenovo Thinkpad P40 Yoga only FHD in Europe?

Yes that is also one of the decisions I just do NOT understand! Just for completion if Lenovo decides to read it: Thinkpad is mostly business users - I get that. But the TP line is also advertised as "high end", especially the X1C. So why on earth does the whole TP line come with Intel 520 graphics ONLY (in Europe !?). At least for T and X series there should have been either an Intel CPU with IRIS or dedicated graphics aimed to provide high erformance for those who want it and are willing to pay for it.

My laptop doesn't turn on anymore. Here is what I have to do to turn it on (I tried many sequence of steps, but this is the only one that works every time):-Disconnect battery and CMOS battery-Press power button ten times, then press and hold for 30 seconds-Connect power adaptor and press power button At this point, my laptop turns on, but I have to reset my time and date in BIOS (of course this is normal since I disconnected the CMOS batter). Once I turn my laptop on, my batter shows that it is charging and it is at 100%. I dual boot and both Ubuntu and Windows 8.1 show the batter charging at 100%.As soon as I unplug my AC adaptor, the laptop turns off again and I have to repeat the sequence above again to turn it on. This happens consistently. However, if I shutdown my laptop the right way without unplugging the AC adaptor at any point, it turns back on normally. This happens of both my Linux and Windows OS. What I've tried:-Uninstalling battery drivers and restarting my laptop-Updating to the latest power management drives from this Lenovo websiteI also read that some HP laptops have software issues that doesn't allow the laptop to switch from AC adaptor mode to battery mode. I believe this might be the issue I'm seeing, but I couldn't find a way to check this setting. I don't think this last detail is related, but when I shutdown Windows, I see a message saying:Closing 1 app and restartingAsusSGPLusBTServerThis app is preventing you f rom restartingAlo... I have ben dealing with problems with this touch screen since I got the laptop.  It has been continuously ghosting, while it got better after the June update, it still ghosts without touches, until you start using the touch screen.  When using the touch screen it starts drawing gray lines in between the point im touching and the point its ghosting to (the lines arent always direct). I recently wiped my the drive, reimaged to a backup from april and tried reupdating it.  When I got to the touch screen drivers, I got through the initial setup and told it to open the update when finished but the machine froze.  Now when I try to reinstall, I get to the finish page on the update tools install, have it open the updater, but the program immediately closes.Any help would be much appreciated.

The other day I was closing my ThinkPad Yoga, and I noticed a bad-sounding crunch. I tried opening and closing it again, but there didn't seem to be a problem. But I noticed today that something definitely has happened. Now, my hinges are out of alignment with one another. The right hinge looks OK, but the left hinge looks kinked forward. This causes the screen to be lopsided when in laptop mode, but it it also noticeable when the laptop and screen is flattened out. See in the the following image how the right hinge is flat, but the left hinge is kinked up?  Is there anything that can be done about this?

Hello, I was hoping that someone could shed some light on this subject. When I first bought this computer the only issues that I had were that the Windows 10 settings as well as the control panel settings were not indexed properly, and would not show up when I searched for them. After performing a recovery multiple times without any luck using the built in recovery option I decided to use the Windows 10 recovery media creation tool and reinstalled Windows 10 that way. This fixed the settings indexing problem, but now I have another problem. I can't seem to get the auto-rotate feature to work at all. I have installed the drivers for my particular model of laptop through the Lenovo Support page but my screen still won't rotate when I change orientations. Any information/suggestions would be a big help. Thanks!

A:Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 auto-rotate problem

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I was not able yet to be sure which is the driver that manages the autorotation on Windows 10 for this TPY 14. But I think it can be good for you to install the latest driver available for it and some Lenovo tools that are utilities to manage the computer.

Here are my general tips.

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers (use the full model number of your Thinkpad).

Hi Everyone,

I just received my new Lenovo ThinkPad S3 Yoga 14" UltraBook (http://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/yoga-series/yoga-14/).

I do not want to start using my new laptop until I update to Windows 10. I am aware that in order to update I need to click on the 'Windows Icon Button' in the taskbar, at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. From here I am supposed to enter my email address...

However here is the challenge, after installing all available Windows Updates, said button has DISAPPEARED!

I have downloaded and run the win10fix_full.zip file as suggested at CNET (http://www.cnet.com/au/how-to/how-to-get-the-windows-10-upgrade-icon-if-its-missing/).

After trying all of the fixes all I can say is that one 'fix' managed to crash my new computer to the point of requiring an immediate shutdown and a memory dump!

I am now thinking that the best course of action may be to return my new laptop to factory default settings.

Can anybody suggest how I can go about returning this unit to factory default settings? I don't just want to erase files, preferences, etc., instead I want to return Windows 8.1 to it's factory issued state.

Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Davo

If you're logged in click on the Start button and type "Refresh" (w/o the quotes). One of the "finds" should be "Remove everything and reinstall Windows"; click on that.

If you can't log in check your documentation. If it doesn't have that little "Lenovo" or "OneKey Rescue System" button beside the regular power button then there must be some key or key combination you need to press upon power on.

Right. So, hello and thanks in advance. I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14, updated and running the latest version of Windows 10 Home 64-bit. First of all, I have to point out that this issue could not be an issue with app incompatibility because all Lenovo apps and programs are working, however LSC seems to be throwing up a strange error message. It has been displaying the same errror message since moment one of upgrading to W10, this issue wasn't present in W8.
Under system, I get a Software Update critical warning and it says:
"Windows Update
You never updated Windows
Status: out of date
Last update: not available
To update your operating system, you must run Windows Update.
[Launch]"
Strangely enough, no amount of clicking on the launch button will actually start wUpdate. And that's it. I've already recieved, downloaded and installed a dozen updates and the message is still there. On another post here in the forum I read that if updates weren't set to download and install automatically I would get that error, but I haven't changed any update settings. Everything is automatic. Instaling, downloading, everything. Any ideas?

In device manager it says "This device cannot start (Code 10)." I've tried disabling/enabling the device form device manager, uninstalling/re-installing the drivers, and wiping stored fingerprints from the BIOS settings. After wiping the fingerprints from BIOS settings and re-programming the fingerprint sensor from the Windows Hello settings menu, it worked for a day, but then the issue with the finger print sensor crashing returned.

A:Need to factory restore Lenovo ThinkPad S3 Yoga 14"?

Hi Everyone,
In an attempt to fix this I first followed the 'Remove everything and reinstall Windows' instructions at the link below -

How to refresh, reset, or restore your PC - Windows Help

The above procedure did indeed restore my computer to the original Factory defaults.
However unfortunately when I booted up, entered my initial details, and got to the Desktop the 'Upgrade to Windows 10 button' was still missing.
My next port of call was to install all Windows updates, about 750 Megabytes, which I did. Then after several reboots, related to the updates, I once more returned to the Desktop only to find the button missing again!
I have now downloaded the Windows 10 iso from the link below, and will post back with my progress -

Kind Regards,
Davo

Hi Everyone,

I just received my new Lenovo ThinkPad S3 Yoga 14" UltraBook (ThinkPad Yoga 14" | Laptop Tablet Hybrid | Lenovo Australia).

I have downloaded and run the win10fix_full.zip file as suggested at CNET (How to get the Windows 10 upgrade icon if it's missing - CNET).

After trying all of the fixes all I can say is that one 'fix' managed to crash my new computer to the point of requiring an immediate shutdown and a memory dump!

Can you boot to Safe Mode? If so, you can refresh Windows 8 which should keep files, but reset settings and such.

The fingerprint scan function stopped working yesterday for my computer. I googled for a solution and I found one I tried to follow it. One of the steps was to update the bios and I did and it worked for one hour or so and then stopped working again. I couldn't do the other steps at all since I don't have anything software called Lenovo fingerprint manager pro on my computer and I can't find it anywhere online for Windows 10 either. Does anyone else has the same problem as me?

A:Lenovo thinkpad yoga 14, wifi problem on tablet mo...

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of your Thinkpad Yoga 14?
Are you using Windows 10?

I may suggest you first to try to update the Wifi drivers and maybe some other of the system driver of you Yoga.
Here are my general tips:

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers (use the full model number of your Thinkpad).

After that we can try a little bit more. For example I also like to test it on some other Wifi networks just to be sure it is not a compatibility issue with the Wifi Router.

I normally have a C:/, H:/, J:/, N:/, X:/, and Y:/ drive, but in a mysterious phenomenon I have lost all of those. I have work to save on those drives, and they are inaccessible. I have attempted to go to Disk Management, but I am denied "access rights," presumably as I am not a licensed IT guy. If there is anything that can be done, I need it done.

A:Missing Network Locations--Windows 8.1, Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga

You needn't be a licensed (or even unlicensed) IT guy to use Disk Management, but I am guessing that you are using a work computer that is probably in a domain and you will need to get help from your IT department.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Any help / direction would be greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone,
One fine evening while watching a movie, my laptop stopped responding and in frustration I switched off the laptop by holding the power button long enough to turn off. Next Morning it showed a blue screen and a message to recover my windows, which I failed to do and by the afternoon this message showed up. Detection Error on HDD0 (main HDD) and hence forth I've been unable to install windows from a USB drive since ( and I suppose) it is not able to read my HDD. I do not care about my data at all, I just want my laptop up and running. If I can have the data back it will be perfect otherwise I don't mind not getting my data back. I know for a fact that my Hard disk is fine because I went into command prompt, diskpart , and list disk, and saw the status of HDD as healthy, this is after the error (detection error on HDD). SO my question is: Why this error? IS there a problem in the motherboard? Why the error shows once and then doesn't show the next time and then comes up again.

A:2100: Detection Error on HDD0 (Main HDD); Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga

The error might be bad sectors, but I'm not sure. if my guessing is correct, you might have to get a new drive to replace. also you need to reinstall OS

I am having an issue with our Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga's connecting to our MDT 2012 server.  When I boot to Windows PE and try to connect to the deployment share I receive the message, "no networking devices found on this machine!."  I was able to find a link to MDT drivers on the Lenovo site https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht074984.  I have imported this driver into MDT and created a selection profile. I have ensured that the driver is in the boot image.  I have also tried injecting the drivers manually while booted into PE.  Just for good measure I even tried the drivers for the Think Pro One Link Dock and for the USB to ethernet dongle.  I have researched the web for solutions on this issue and tried all that I have found thus far. Oh by the way I have even totally recreated the MDT server from scratch and I still have this issue with the Yoga. I have other models of Lenovo computers and I can connect to the MDT server in PE on these machines.  Any advice or assistance would be highly appreciated as I am under the gun to get this up and working.

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40°. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. just ordered my "loaded" P40 and plan to test it against a Surface Pro 4 i7. I bet the decision of which one to keep will come down to screen quality (Surface Pro) vs keyboard quality and hopefully better thermal design (P40). my usual testing involves doing a semi-complex filtered render video in Premiere. In thin laptops whenever the GPU kicks in, the computer under powers the CPU to keep temperature down. hopefully P40 handles it well. I draw some comfort there are very few P40 posts here.  As a side note, I think lenovo could improve their website sale process a lot; ordering a "topseller" or suggested confg and have to wait 3-5 business days for shipment seems excessive. Microsoft, Apple and many other offer next business day.

I got my first Lenovo Yoga 710 around 1.5 weeks ago, and noticed something immediately when I opened it up. The metal "case" or laptop bottom was uneven. The bottom right side of the laptop is sorta bend from factory, the rubber part does not even touch the table when I put the laptop down. It isnt much, maybe a few millimeters, but whenever I use the laptop I hear and feel it rocking back and fort and making a clicking sound against the table. I really didnt expect this from such an expensive laptop.  So, I contacted the store I got it from, and they ordered a new one from me. And guess what, the new unit is JUST the same. I looked at their display model and it sat flush with the table, rock solid. Did they just ship a bad batch of laptops with uneven surfaces, seeing that both the laptops I got is uneven?  To be spesific, its the Yoga 710 14"ISK (I think). Anyone else experienced this themself, or know what I should do?

Hi, I have 3 problems with my Yoga 460: 1. (this should be easy):Where do I get a backup image for my system from? I did not find any links on the support page. 2. I tried to download the bios update to version 1.18 from the website. If I click on the windows installer file, there is always the message "file not found". If I try to download the iso file (which is indeed working), I receive an error message about wrong format when trying to mount it to a usb drive. 3. This is the most important issue for me at the moment:As soon as I try to update my system with Lenovo Companion software, I always get the message that I would have to upgrade my Lenovo System Interface Driver. If I hit ok to install this app, I get a download link. I tried installing it several times. After having restarted the system, the same error appears again (with the same download link).  I would really appreciate if anyone of you could help me on these topics! Greetings from Germany, Simon

Hello,I'm having trouble since I recieved my LENOVO ThinkPad Yoga 14 two months ago.It is on guarantee.I've noticed that the master fan keeps starting even if the computer is not working at full capacity. Sometimes, it starts right after windows as finished booting! And it's a brand new computer, Intel i7 CPU and 8GO of RAM!The fan keeps working then even if I'm only surfing on the internet or working on word. It's REALLY annoying. I feel like this is already an old computer by it's blowing. My old computer, a 5 years old Toshiba Satellite, doesn't blow so much.I've searched over the web and found that LENOVO had released a new UEFI Bios that was suposed to fix this problem. I've installed it and nothing changed! The fan kept on turning on for nothing else than a gmail home page.I've already asked about another problem on the ThinkPad Yoga 14. It's about a background noise on the built in speakers. Here's the link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Background-noise-on-ThinkPad-Yoga-14-bu...I'm not having a good experience with this Yoga 14. I was looking for professional quality and it is not.Can someone tell me if they have the same problems? What LENOVO is going to do about it?Thanks.Ludovic.

A:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - The Fan keeps on turning on eve...

Hi ludovicfd Can you please post the full model number of you machine and which Windows version are you using?. For example my TP Yoga 14 is "20DM008UUS" and I didn't experienced those issues.  I'm guessing that your machine fan is blowing too much and making huge noise. In my case I can feel more the hard drive noise than the fan, it is not like the HDD is "that loud", but when you are on a quiet enviroment you can feel it "scrattching". Do you want to try first updating any firmware / BIOS on your machine at the latest level ? After that another alternative will be to try to update the driver for the chipset and power. The basic thing for me is to try to update the drivers and firmware this way:- Windows Update- Lenovo System Update- Lenovo Companionand after that search manually for updates on the Lenovo Support site with your specific model number. Sorry, it is trial and error to see if a driver can fix your issue. If after updating the drivers, you think it is hardware issue you should try to contact Lenovo's Customer Support site Regards

Got Thinkpad Yoga 260 delivered today. Haven't turned it on yet and was checking it out. Lifting it up and slightly shaking produces rattling noice around the right hand side hinge. It's either hinge itself making that sound or inside the laptop around top right corner. Any ideas on what that might be and how to possibly fix it? Should I just consider sending it back to get fixed instead? Thanks. Edit: I suspect it could actually be a right bottom corner of the LCD right over Yoga 260 imprint where the rattle is. There is nothing I can do to fix that. So much for a brand new laptop...

I just got my Yoga X1 running Win 7.  It was noticeably hot (particularly compared to the Thinkpad Carbon 4th Gen), so I used CPU HWMonitor, where it shows core temps reaching as high as 71C.  This is while I was doing nothing more than surfing the net.  Is this something to worry about?  Results  Thanks for any advice.

Does anyone know if Lenovo is going to release the Thinkpad yoga 15 with an active pen or is this a dead dream at this point? My suppliers have no clue and even the touch only thinkpad yoga's are hard to get here in Canada.

A:Thinkpad Yoga 15 with active pen

I ordered my Yoga 15 with intel realsense camera from Amazon US, and got it shipped to me in Nigeria, you can do same. With respect to the availability of the active pens with yoga 15, only Lenovo can help with that answer.

Hi, After working out that my laptop (Thinkpad Yoga S1) most likely has a digitizer, I purchased a pen for it. However, since I wasn't 100% sure, I bought a cheaper, off-brand pen that people said was compatible, the listing for which can be found here. I received it today, but my computer seems unresponsive when I try to use it. When I went to Wacom Pen or Pen and Touch Input, the pen calibration screens were either blank (Wacom) or didn't load (Input). Is there something else I have to do to make my pen work? Did I purchase the wrong pen? If it helps, the pen slot on my computer is still plugged; I was going to unplug it, but to do so I'd have to remove the back paneling, and one of the screws keeping it in place has been stripped. The thread confirming that my laptop has a digitizer is here. Thanks!

A:Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen

Hi

Please notice that this is my personal opinon and it does not mean I'm 100% right, this is based on my experience.

I think that the "Digitizer PEN for Lenovo ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201" is for older Thinkpad models. I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Similar to S1) (20DM008UUS) and it has a digitizer screen, but it requires an "active pen" (with batteries inside) to be able to work with the digitizer.

I have the Thinkpad Pen Pro and it works fine with my model. I still think you have a digitizer on your laptop but I think it is the wrong pen.

Here it also some more info about the pen that Amy wrote.

Regards.

Like the title says, I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (the model with a stylus, if that makes a difference). I love it to death, but I can't figure out how I'm supposed to use alt codes for typing accented letters and symbols. There are no num lk/scrn lk keys on my laptop, and I couldn't find anything when I searched for another method. I already know about the character map, by the way. I want to know if there is a way to type alt codes with my keyboard.

I had to send my X1 Yoga (20FQ) back for service as it reported a hardware fault. Sounds like it was due to a corrupt driver reporting a false positive. They had to reimage the laptop, so when I got it back I was starting from scratch. When I opened the Lenovo Companion App (I'm on Win 10 Pro 64), the home page (under the big "Optimise Your Thinkpad" button had this: Thinkpad X1 Carbon 4th This got me thinking - did they put the correct image on there? I hadn't noticed it when I first got it a month ago, so don't know what it said then. I didn't want to rebuild my system only to find it needed to be reimaged again. I called the repair centre, and they seemed to think it was correct - that that profile was the correct one for my serial number. They put me through to technical support, who thought I was correct - it was the wrong image. They sent me out a recover USB to try again. I've just done that (reimaged) and the Lenovo Companion App says the same thing. Given I got conflicting reports from Lenovo support I thought I'd try the forum here first - to see what other X1 Yoga owners have in their Lenovo Companion App. What does yours say? Maybe the X1 Yoga and X1 Carbon are so similar they can use the same image? Much Appreciated

The advertising says that the Yoga Book will take up to a 128GB MicroSD card but it won't work with my 64GB card. It appears that it requires the card to be formatted as FAT32 to be compatible but FAT32 only supports devices up to 32GB.  After several attempts I re-partitioned my card using a PC with a 32Gb partition and formatted that as FAT32.  Success. It would also be very useful if there was some technical support in the UK. No phone support, no email support, no chat support; why, when we are paying more in the UK than people in the US who get all the support channels?

Recently, I tried to wake my yoga from sleep, but it did not turn on after holding the power button for 4 seconds - only the red light on the think pad "I" glows for 4 seconds then turns off.  The screen remains black and no fan and no light on the keyboard.   I tried to do the reset button on the bottom- nothing. Then I tried to take off the bottom of the laptop, in plugged the battery, and power, then held the power button for 30 seconds.  Then put everything back together.  Still no change.  Any other solutions?

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a Yoga Book running Windows 10. I would like to connect it to a video projector. I bought a micro-HDMI to VGA connector. When I connect everything, neither W10 nor the projector recognize each other. In settings/Display,  if I click "detect" it says "no screen detected".  It is as though the HDMI port is completely off or the adaptator is faulty... I think the projector receive no signal at all... Any suggestions ?Thanks in advance.

I recently purchased a Yoga Book, which I'm really enjoying. The one issue that continually surfaces is that it doesn't immediately power up. I often need to hold down the power switch for a lengthy amount of time (5+ secs) to get it to power up/wake up. Has anyone encountered the same? Thanks in advance.
