Wireless-AC card upgrade/compatibility for Notebook 15-ac151...

Q: Wireless-AC card upgrade/compatibility for Notebook 15-ac151...

Currently, my Notebook 15-ac151dx (product #: T0D84UA) has a Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 wireless card. I want to upgrade it to something that supports wireless-AC, or at least supports 5GHz. After 2 hours of searching online, I still can't find a clear answer on what would be compatible with my model. Has anyone upgraded their 15-ac151dx WiFi card? Or can someone point me to a list of compatible parts that support 5Ghz/dual-band/wireless-ac??

A:GR. CARD UPGRADE ON NOTEBOOK

Hi: There are no graphics 'cards' in your notebook.  The graphics are integrated into the motherboard, and the only way to upgrade the graphics would be to change the entire motherboard with one listed in the service manual for your notebook that may have better graphics. Doing that would be a labor intensive and expensive proposition.

Hi all,

I'm currently using another laptop, but I broke my wifi card, and took one from the old Dell laptop. It's 1397 mini card.
I'm running windows 10, and can not turn the wi-fi on.
Drivers were installed automatically card is defined y system, but tumbler just stick in Off position and no possibility to turn wi-fi on.
I have checked BIOS set up and there is no options to manage WLAN on this level.

Is it even possible that dell wireless card would work on another laptop?

Hi! My AR5BXB63 wireless card in My MSI VR630 just failed. I'm thinking of purchasing a different mode, one which supports wireless n mode, like this.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/802-11n-Int...908?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a0b96f4ec
My question is, that will this work in my laptop? I think it will, becasuse as far as I know, PCIE is a universal interface and it should support anything I plug into it whith the same interface. Though it is mentioned on the ebay page that it will only work with certain chipsets. Who is right then? Also, there is a wifi enable/disable button on my notebook, will that work? Or is that button the reason why this wireless card won't work with any chipset?
Thanks in advance.

A:Mini PCIE wireless card compatibility

PCI-e IS universal, it will work with every MB, but your OS has to have drivers for it. Either built in, on the manufacturers website, or on windows update (I have Win 8 and it had no drivers for mine, so I had to use my power line adapter to supply internet to my computer for windows update to get the driver). So what I am saying is as long as you have a wired internet connection to use as an alternative then you should be fine.

Dear HP Support, i am the happy owner of an HP 6710b (year 2007/2008 model) notebook.Of course now it is a little bit dated. So i decided to upgrade my wifi card (intel) to a new Intel wifi card which supports the 802.11n standard. Unfortunately i discovered that HP uses BIOS based wifi card whitelists to prohibit the user to upgrade the wifi card. When i bought the notebook HP never mentioned it. HP advertised that the notebook has a mini pci express slot. Therefore i concluded that every mini pcie standards compatible wifi card would work. My Questions: 1. Why do you use bios whitelists ?2. How will you fix this ?3. When will you fix this? 4. Which models are using a whitelist? Does HP sell any Notebook/netbook without a bios whitelist?  Thank you.

A:HP notebook wifi whitelist (card upgrade)

Hi,The first 3 questions are for HP guys but I'm not one..HP provide service manuals for its products and you may find all compatible components in there. The whitelist contains all the part numbers from the service guide so when you want to upgrade a laptop, find the component in the service guide or choose the best you can get if more components are available..The guide for your laptop: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/CoreRedirect.jsp?redirectReason=DocIndexPDF&prodSer...There is an Intel 802.11a/b/g/n compatible wireless card. The part number is: ?441086-001?(for the US etc, see the manual for the right pn))I think it's a WiFi Link 4965AGN. The part number is important because the same WiFi Link 4965AGN for the UK or other European/Asia countries will be probably different (use different wifi regulations than the US).This one should work:http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Mini-PCIe-802-11-A-B-G-N-WLAN-4965AGN-New-441086-001-/330611825906?pt=PCC...?

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anybody can help me with this problem im having installing a Wireless notebook card... Im at my wits end lol.

I am fixing a Laptop and it is quite old... I reinstalled Windows XP Home edition 32 bit on to it... And every driver is now working except in Device Manager its saying a yellow question mark over Ethernet Controller. The Wireless card is a plug in one and it was working with the same system previous to having to re-install the Operating System. Now the slot in which the card goes in... is making that little noise like when you put a USB pen in it to let you know its plugged in however on the actual system its showing nothing is plugged in at all.. I have tryed installing the drivers and still no wireless. The Ethernet plug in connection works fine.

The Card is - Belkin Wireless G Notebook Card Model No - F5D7010 and it says Ver.7000uk

The system im trying to get it working on is a Samsung V25 with Intel Pentium 4 processor.

The person im fixing it for has said it didnt come with a CD to install drivers so im at a loose end...

Anybody who has a break through solution it would be much appreciated?
Thanks,

Stace

My Linksys wireless notebook card isnt working... I installed the software first, like it said, but I cant activate it. The device manager says its working properly. The power LED lights up, but the link light isnt. I cant add a new network, edit the current one, or do anything with the linksys software that came with it. Since it is running under Windows ME, there is no wireless configuration, like there is on XP (ignore the specs in my signature, this is a different PC).

This will take a LONG explaination !!

Have my T-21 Thinkpad setup with dual-boot of Win98SE and Xandros Linux. The built-in Xir-Com Mini-PCI V.90 56K modem and my dial-up ISP [Old Bob is retired] works with Win98SE but not Linux [it's a Win modem].

Bought an Intel PRO/100+ Mini PCI wireless card, BUT don't really know how to use it. Most of the research I do seems to be setting up routers.

1st problem: - Can't find a decent public "hot spot", but I have been "poaching" on doctors offices in the local medical center. I know this is ILLEGAL but I'm just trying to set up card and see if I know how to use it. I will drive the 15 miles to the public library in next town, once I know what I'm doing.

Card is picking up "networks" with about 70-80 % signal strength, BUT don't know what to do "next" ??
How do I get my dial-up ISP to use the wireless card ???
I'm not even sure if this is the "right" question to ask.

I recently bought a Belkin Wireless G notebook card to replace an old US Robotics card on a laptop running Windows 2000 Pro. I am now using WAP instead of WEP security on a wireless access point and the old card could not access the access point once I changed. My problem is that the Belkin card does not see any of the networks that are running in my neighborhood even though in the device manager it says it is enabled and working properly and it is sitting 3 feet from the router. I tried this card in two different XP machines and in both of them it had no trouble seeing the many networks. I spent more than an hour on the phone with Belkin and they finally told me to ask Dell (It is an Inspiron 8000). I think the problem has more to do with Windows 2000 than with Dell. It is an old computer that my husband used for work and 9 years ago I set it up to use internet sharing at home to begin with through the wireless cards and then through a router with broadband. I remember it being the devil to set up. It was suppose to have an ethernet connection when first bought but we only discovered after a year that it did not have one. (We were not using broadband then.) A tech person came to the house and installed the missing hardware. So it does work on the Ethernet plug with the network. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Belkin card and software several times. At one time I had Zone Alarm on this computer but right now it does not appear to have a firewall. I just reinstalled Windows today, and I downloaded the drivers for my wireless PCMCIA card (a Trendnet TEW-441PC) on another PC and used the disk mode feature of my iPod to transfer the drivers to my notebook.

I then installed the drivers and utility as per the instructions on Trendnet's site (I am a fairly advanced user but used the instructions just to be safe). I restarted the computer as the installation instructed.

Upon restarting my PC and inserting the card, I begin to run through Windows' New Hardware Found process, and upon trying to copy the first file, the installation freezes.

I tried a repair of my Windows install, to no avail.

I also noticed that if the card is plugged in during boot, Windows will freeze on the XP boot screen.

I've been having some problems getting my IBM Thinkpad 380z up and running. After installing a new hard drive, new drivers, and Win 98 it was running pretty smoothly. When I attempted to install a Belkin wireless card to my laptop I ran the software, put in the hardware, and it installed just fine. The icon shows that the signal is weak but it connects to our router. Now the router is a Netgear I believe. But even after showing a connection it still dosent allow me on the internet. When I click on internet explorer it just shows me the browser isnt available. Now I uninstalled and reinstalled the hardware and drivers and I have the same problem. So I decided to go out and get a netgear wireless card. After installing I come across the same problems as before. They are both made to work with win 98, 32 bit bus card, the only thing that may affect it that I can think of is the ram. Since I only have 64 mb of ram that could be the problem. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be. Please share any ideas. Thank you in advance.

I've tried changing all sorts of settings like letting XP control the connection but still no good - HELP please - I am currently connected to the router in the hallway via cable and its fine -but its not ideal.

I happened to come across a Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter recently. I don't have a laptop right now, but I decided to take it. I have a computer built about 4 years ago by someone I don't know very well and unfortunately, after reinstalling windows and I can't find the ethernet driver, making an internet connection impossible.

I was wondering if I would be able to open up this desktop and install the wireless card. Since I know the brand, I would be able to find the drivers and hopefully get the internet working. Thanks!

Also: Strangely, the old computer connects to the internet when running Ubuntu. Somehow, I guess it doesn't need the ethernet drivers. Anyway I could get this working on Windows?

A:Solved: Wireless Notebook Network Card on a Desktop?

You would need yet another piece of hardware to use that adapter on a desktop computer. You'd need an adapter that accepted that card and then connected to an available PCI slot on the desktop. It would be cheaper and easier to just buy the right adapter instead.

Since there's nothing wrong with the adapter seeing as it works fine in Ubuntu, You need to do some troubleshooting on the Windows side. I don't see any reason to purchase anything yet.

Am planning on buying a wireless router and wire notebook card. In no particular order, here are the two combinations that I am thinking of getting:

Linksys
Linksys SpeedBooster 802.11g Wireless Broadband Router (Model: WRT54GS)
Linksys SpeedBooster 802.11g Wireless Notebook Card (Model: WPC54GS)

D-Link
D-Link RangeBooster N Wireless-N Router (Model: DIR-625)
D-Link Platinum RangeBooster N Wireless-N Notebook Card (Model: DWA-642)

Any opinions? Or suggestions on others that might fit the bill?
Been reading about it, and it seems that the D-Link router is a new draft 802.11n standard router that is also backwards compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b devices. Anandtech.com has a review of the D-Link router here. Also found a blog entry about the D-Link router.

Found a PC Mag review of the Linksys router here, but it was written in 2004!!

User reviews aren't terrible helpful since there are both complaints and praises. And people are more likely to review a product that they have problems with.

The D-Link router may be compatible with the final 802.11n standard which is supposed to be out this year, which is something in its favor. I am a little wary of a router built on a draft standard, even if it is backwards compatible with the current standards but the fact that it could be better once they finalize the standard and if it will be compatible then I could get better performance. I also think that the D-Link router has more functionality but since I am not very wel... Read more

Hi. I have a IBM thinkpad t30 with windows xp (with SP2). We just got Verizon FIOS toda installed at my house. My desktop is connected to the wireless router (actiontec MI424WR) by an ethernet cord. I haven't successfully connected to the internet via wireless by secure network on our router. My roommate has.
I have a Belkin Wireless Notebook Card (it says "802.11g 2.4 Ghz" on the card, and its model F5D7010). I haven't had any trouble connecting using this card (it goes into a PCMIA slot on the leftside of the laptop) at places like panera or the wirless at my dad's house.
When I try to connect to the secure wireless network,
a dialog box will pop up saying "Please wait wile Windows connects to "XXXXX" network" with a little green bar moving from left to right as its working saying "Detecting network type..." then the computer freezes, I can't reboot it via ctrl-alt-delete or move the cursor. So I have to hold down the power button to manually turn it off.
Already had the verizon tech support people remotely try stuff on my computer with the computer hooked up to the router via an ethernet cord. He suggested uninstalling and/or reinstalling the ethernet card. I've done that, same result as above. he also suggested getting a new notebook/network card. Since this thing has worked fine up until now, I'm open to trying anything before I get a new one. Can someone please help?

A:Wireless Card Upgrade

Scotty mate providing the new adaptor will fit see this for getting the old one out and the new in but I suppose it is just as well to check first to see if the change is possible. Where from I am nor sure mate maybe the maker of the adaptor you are proposing to use.

Taking apart Toshiba laptops and notebooks. DIY guides. Disassembly instructions.

Removing keyboard and speaker cover from Toshiba Satellite P205 notebook see up to and then point 12. Now just be aware that to do this you need to be VERY careful with the small ribbon cables and please read the first ref thoroughly before starting there is a definite right and wrong way to remove and insert said cables because of those tiny cable retainers that are hard to see and hold out when replacing them.

A TIP do this on a large spread out white (preferably) bath towel as dropping the small screws onto a hard surface nearly alway results in them skidding off the hard surface of say a table and then lost forever, the towel stops this happening in 999 out of a 1000 drops.

The alternative mate is a USB hub.

I would like to upgrade my wifi card, as it's only single band 1x1 no bluetooth. I've already installed a second wifi antenna, and this card http://www.amazon.com/7260NGW-Intel%C2%AE-Wireless-AC-802-11ac-Bluetooth/dp/B00GUNZUG0?ie=UTF8&psc=1... but my notebook doesn't detect it no matter what I do, so I put the original card back in with the second antenna on it. Is there any way for me to use this card, or at least a similar one?

This is very frustrating. I need to upgrade this old and reliable work horse to Wireless-N. Bought TWO cards, mini-PCI-e Wifi-N 150 mbps however the laptop doesn't seem to just accept it - either one. Is it some sort of IBM thing preventing 3rd. party Wireless cards? I am in XP SP2 with max memory.  (Kindly don't suggest me to use g instead of N as the place I am in, transmitting exclusively in N only). 2nd. problem: I used the IBM provided demos, document but somehow my Trackpad just doesn't accept any taps! The UltraNav wizard shows everything is fine, enabled, etc. The right-left buttons also does not work - up or the down ones. Track pad works, i.e. the pointer moves, etc. but clicks just doesn't work! 3rd. : Is it possible for me to swap out the HDD and replace with SSD? Realizing what's happening with my WiFi upgrade, I am hesitant to spend money and attempt upgrading... Kindly help.

Hello, I just ordered a ProBook 450 G2, model # L8D98UT.  It comes with the Intel 3160 AC Wireless card.  I'd like to upgrade this to the 7260 AC Card.  Is this possible, and does this specific model come with the 2 antenanas required for the 7260 Wireless AC Card?  I was unable to tell from the specifications if 1 or 2 antennas are in the display bezel. Thanks

Hi, I would like to upgrade my wireless card to a dual band wifi card. My roomate just upgraded our router to dual band and the 2.4GHz keeps going down, but the 5GHz is stable. I'd don't want to have to buy a new router since we can't return it now. How can I find a compatible wifi card for my laptop? I have never replaced a component in my laptop before but an comfortable opening it up. I just want to make sure I order the right part and that it is compatiable with my BIOS. I read something about some HP's having whitelists but I don't know exactly how to check that. Any help is appreicated.  After this upgrade, I would like to upgrade my hard drive to SSD as well, but that's another topic I guess. Thanks

I have a laptop that has a LinkSys Wireless "B" PCMIA card in it. The wife uses it heavily to work from home using GoToMyPc to log into her PC at work. I am replacing a 4 year old Wireless "B" Access Point with a new LinkSys Wirless "G" Broadband Router this weekend. Will the laptop gain enough speed advantage using a "G" card instead of a "B" card to make it worth shelling out $35.00 for a new "G card? The money isn't an issue, but don't want to waste it if we are going to gain very little speed by upgrading it.

A:Solved: Should I Upgrade Wireless Laptop Card?

You probably won't gain much as far as Internet access is concerned, but it would change things significantly for any file sharing. Of course, if the signal from the router is somewhat distant, the extra speed may help.

Hi: Looking at the list of supported wlan cards in the service manual for your notebook, none seem very promising. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03318732 If I had to take a chance on one, I would go for this one... Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and 20702 Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter   HP Part # 657325-001 Changing wireless cards in HP notebooks made before 2014 is nothing short of a nightmare. There is a BIOS whitelist, which prevents any wireless card not listed in the service manual for the PC from working. The PC won't even boot up until the unsupported wlan card is removed. The next problem is some of the part numbers listed in the service manual are incorrect. For example, the Intel 6230 listed has the wrong part #, and no one knows what the right one is (or if the 6230 is even supported). What I would do if I were you, would be to find a used but tested and working wlan card on eBay. Query by the part number and check the picture in the listing to be sure you see the part number listed on the white sticker that is labeled 'Replace with HP Spare.' I'm seeing the Broadcom card I referenced going for as low as $4.35 + shipping from Hong Kong. They are slightly more expensive if you want one that is located in the USA.

After upgrading from windows ME to 2000, I loaded up the drivers and software for my linksys WPC54G pcmcia wireless card. When I try to start up the client, I'm given the Winsocks error: Successful WSAstartup not yet performed. I've tried running Winsocks repair programs but to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.

A:Wireless Card/OS upgrade/Winsocks Problem

I found this on another page - Sounds like the same thing I know it says to run the fixes you said you have ran before but this gives an order to it all and may not be the way you attempted it before.

I found a solution to the Linksys WSAStartup not yet performed. I'm
using a Dell Lattitude LS400 Windows2000 with a Linksys WPC54G card.

1) Remove all of the Linksys programs with "add/remove programs"
2)Reboot
3) Look on the web for a free program called "winsockfix.exe". Download
it and run it.
4)After another reboot from that program, reinstall the Linksys
drivers/WLAN monitor.
5)The problem should be gone now, but if it does not, don't un-install
the Lynksys drivers and simply run the winsockfix.exe program again.
When the program finishes, try running the Linksys WLAN monitor again.
The WLAN monitor is the window that comes up that lets you set WEP,
SSID, etc.
6) That should do it. If the problem comes up again, run the
winsockfix.exe program again while leaving the Linksys drivers
installed.

This problem often happens when running the McAfee Firewall. It puts a
link in the win socket and when you rupgrade to a new PCMCIA Card, the
link is broken.

Good Luck

Dear everyone, To not waste anyone's time I'll try to formulate my question as clear and direct as possible. Additional information that may be important will then be given. In short my question is the following: Is my particular system (HP Elitebook 8570w Mobile Work station, a notebook) compatible with the NVIDIA  Quadro K1000M driver for Linux (x64)?     The following background information may be useful to see where I'm coming from and to be able to answer my question. Background info:In the past I have installed Linux Ubuntu next to the pre-installed Windows 7 on this machine. Everything worked well except for the video card (dragging windows around the screen wasn't smooth which is very irritating). I assumed that I had to install the correct driver for the video card which is also compatible with Linux. Having done a little searching on the internet I tried both a `default' Linux driver as well as a driver form NVIDIA that was supposed to work with a Linux (x64) system. However the problem was not solved and actually became worse as time progessed. Finally I abandoned the Linux system and went back to Windows altoghether.  Now I want to give it another try so I have looked up the driver that is supposed to work with my video card and a Linux (x64) system.  At the tab `additional information' however it says the following: Note that the list of supported GPU products is provided to... Alrighty! Here goes!

I've been searching online for five hours looking for fixes for this. I recently replaced the Windows 8 on this Notebook with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Edition because, simply put, I bloody hate Windows 8.

This has become problematic for me because it appears that there are no compatible drivers that pair Windows 7 and this device's hardware.

I posted in Yahoo Answers about an hour and ten minutes ago and I'm incredibly frustrated with the results (go figure). A link to that question, in case I forget any information I mentioned there: Downgrading to Windows 7 with HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook? - Yahoo! Answers

The product information page for the HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook is located here: HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook PC Product Specifications HP 2000-2b89WM Notebook PC | HP? Support

I have several drivers that are "Out of date." The main one that I'm worried about is the Graphics/Display driver. On the HP website, the device is listed as: Intel HD graphics 3000 with up to 1696MB total graphics memory.

I've tried installing the Windows 8 drivers (which do nothing) and I have also tried updating my drivers through Windows Update. I've also visited HP's driver site, Intel's, and even NVidia, I believe, all to no avail.

I'm hoping that an informed someone can tell me whether or not there are drivers for my graphics chip, and if there are, where I can find them and how I can install them in working order.

Thank you so much for any help! ... Read more

I put in netgear wireless llb pcmcia card in my compaq running xp

The driver seems to be OK and the computer recognizes the card

It says wireless network not connectec

I get message windows can't configure the wireless network

When I tried to follow the instructions on the microsoft site,
and tried to run the program it said to run to let windows zero configure the network It couldn't find the program

What if anything can I do

Unfortunately I can't connect the computer to the internet without the wireless as I'm out of town, typing this in now at a library computer, which right now is my only occasional access to the internet until I get this straightened out.

A:can't get wireless to work on notebook --message windows can't configure wireless

Chances are that when you installed the Netgear driver and utility you told the utility that you wanted it to manage the wireless. Its icon should be in the Notification Area--double click on it, go to the Network (I'm going from memory here) tab, find the network you want and connect to it.

I have an ASUS K501E which has a Pentium T4400 in it.

From the research I've done, I'm pretty sure that the T9400 is compatible with my machine, but then again, I'm no expert.

My laptop has an NVIDIA MCP79 chipset.
The BIOS manufacturer is American Megatrends. BIOS date: 01/12/10. BIOS version: 207.

A:CPU upgrade - compatibility advice

I see the forum at Notebook Review told you the proposed CPU upgrade is fine. If this (K50IE) is your model then it suggests that..

Intel® Core?2 Duo Processor P8800/P8700/P7450/T6670/T6570/T5900 : 2.66 GHz - 2.2 GHz,
Intel® Pentium® Dual Core Processor T4400 : 2.2 GHz
Intel® Celeron® Processor T3100 : 1.9 GHz

...the range of CPU's are a little lower specced. Might be an idea to join Asus Forums and get a definitive answer. The MCP79 seems to compatible with T9xxx CPU's, but a lot will depend on the laptops BIOS.

Q. What is an un-buffered memory board?
Q. Does buffered or un-buffered really matter?

Only problem being, I'm not exactly sure if I'm doing the right thing here as far as choosing the right SSD (It's my first time upgrading anything for my laptop).

I have a Dell Inspiron 15r (n5110) with a i5 core and as of right now, (soon to be 8gb) 4gb of RAM and Windows Ultimate x64.

Can't really look up my personal specs cause of my computer being unable to startup from a lack of Hard Drive, but if any other information is needed I might be able to grab it.

I was thinking about purchasing a SanDisk Extreme 240 GB, Internal SSD from here but I wanted to make sure that my system was compatible in the first place before I go and spend 100+ dollars. I did some research, but I wanted to confirm it with the experts here before I make my final decision.

A:Solved: Wireless G Notebook Adapter to Wireless N

you should be able to connect as they are backward compatable

So a wireless B adapter (which I have in my laptop) connects to G or N

I suspect there may be other issues

What else is connected to the N router and does it work ok onto the internet

Do you have secruity enabled on the router, if so take it off and try without secruity enabled

it may be a firewall on your PC is blocking you from connecting

Try the following
------------------

I'm afraid I took advantage of the 'free' Windows 10 upgrade last year; biggest mistake I've ever made, but I've learned to live with it. But today there were multiple problems and now I am effectively frozen out of my laptop, a Vostro 3550. I know that it's not one of the pcs tested by Dell for the operating system and I'm (sort of) OK with that. But a rather rude and spectacularly unhelpful Microsoft technician told me very forcibly that my laptop is 'incompatible' with Windows 10 and that therefore there is nothing they can do to help me and nor will they now try as it is pointless as I can't even use the laptop with the new upgrade of 10. Surely that can't be correct? I have grown to pretty much hate Microsoft in the last 12 months but can they really have decided that my laptop is obsolete? And not told us? Anything anybody can tell me here will be greatly appreciated. And I'll try to gain access to my laptop again...

not quite an overclocking question but i figured you guys would probably know what to tell me haha

i have an hp dv6238 laptop
intel dual core t2250 1.73GHz cpu

(not sure exactly what other info you need, do let me know. i have everest and can pull most right off there. unfortunately chipset comes up as "unknown" but if you can tell me another way to find it i'll do so.)

i'd like to upgrade to something

"2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent"

having read the dv6000 (which seem to all use the same motherboard) maintenance/service list it suggested intel t7200 as the top (unsure if its top in terms of what was available when it was written or top in terms of what this system can support) but i've had mixed comments on whether its actually compatible so i'm at a loss

any help would be greatly appreciated

ideally i'd like something thats pretty much a "drop in" replacement that wont require me to change everythign else and in effect cause me to have to rebuild the entire computer (at which point i may aswell get a new more up to date one since this is about 3 yrs old now hahaha)

thanks again all

A:laptop CPU upgrade-compatibility questions

You can upgrade(assuming you have 943GML chipset) to any Socket M cpu here without any BIOS upgrade:
List of Intel Core microprocessors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
T2700 is very expensive but T2500 not very far off from T2700.
If you like C2D, the best value for money is T7200 as T7400 and T7600 are over priced IMO. You have to upgrade to the latest BIOS.

You also must find out what chipset you have using CPU-z. Post the screen shot of the findings.

Good evening. As you can see above, I'm looking to upgrade this old creature.
My hard drive has been failing, prompting my start-up to warn me of the impending doom.

PROBLEM: I don't know how to tell what's compatible with my processor, motherboard, power supply, and the size of the machine itself.

I'd prefer an SSHD that's either 500GB or 1TB.
Video card, possibly the AMD Radeon R7 240 (or something of equivalent power), if that's compatible.

Thank you greatly for the help.

I am looking at buying a Dell T3600 and want to upgrade the cpu.
Is there a Bios upgrade that will allow me to install an E5 2670-v3 ES 12 core cpu.
The current specs say it accepts up to 8 core cpus

Thank you for your time.

Hi Guys,My current Lenovo ThinkPad is a T520, type 4240, s/n *******, Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit.When attempting to upgrade to Windows 10, the process stops me by ticking off the main boxes EXCEPT for my display, which the message says is incompatible and that I need to contact the manuracturer. Is this a common / expected problem with my specific ThinkPad, or, is something amiss with my ThinkPad?What do I need to do to upgrade to Windows 10 with this specific ThinkPad?  Am I able, in fact, to upgrade to Windows 10 with this specific model of ThinkPad??Warm thanks in advance,Dorian

Hi,
I own a Optiplex 755 and require an upgrade to the soundcard and have three in mind:
Asus Xonar DGX:
Creative Blaster Audigy FX:
Asus Xonar DGX:
Are these compatible for the 755? I heard that the 755 can be a little difficult with regards regards to upgrades so jut want to be sure before possibly wasting money on a something that might not work. Any help very much appreciated.

A:Optiplex Soundcard Upgrade Compatibility

Is this PSU related.  I own a HD6450 by AMD, heatsink with XFX brand and no fan.  This is not related, but the fan does not use much power any way.  I'm sure my PSU only puts out around 300 watts, so expensive cards are futile.  So I have this problem too, or actually had that problem when searching for a card.  Maybe a voltage issue for the soundcard search?  Perhaps.

This is the message I got.

You must make the following changes before installing Windows

Close Windows installation and contact the device manufacturer for updated driver software for these devices:

o IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers: Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller

o The compatibility report will be saved to the current Windows desktop. Click to expand...

I'm not quite sure what to do...

I am new to this site and welcome your input/advice.

I own a Belkin Wireless Network PCI card that is running on a Win ME machine and Belkin Wireless adaptor running on a Win XP machine.

I am in search of a wireless router and will purchase Belkin, but if compatibility isn't an issue would rather purchase another brand.

Can someone let me know if wireless routers are compatible with most other wireless components?

Any help or advice would be great.

I really want to get my home network moving and the router is my last step.

Thanks.

Paul

A:Wireless Compatibility

If the wireless clients are 802.11b compatible devices, any 802.11b compatible wireless router should work. I don't like Belkin much either, since they're not really a manufacturer, but just a repackager, and you don't really know what you're getting. Stick with the major brands, SMC, D-Link, Linksys, etc. and you'll be fine. If you check out More Stuff 4 Less, OfficeMax has a wireless D-Link router for about $15 after rebates, seems like just the ticket for you.

I am attempting to help a friend troubleshoot a wireless problem. His notebook and wireless router use 802.11g while my notebook and router use 802.11b. Am I correct in assuming the g notebook should work off the b router but the b notebook would not work on the g router? Trying to determine if the issue is with the notebook or router.

Thanks, Bob

A:Wireless b/g compatibility

A 802.11b device will connect directly with a 802.11g device at speeds of up to 11 Mbps.

I just bought an IBM Think Pad and my son loaded ACT on it. I have internet connection via QWEST DSL Modem My desktop is directly connect to the modem. My old laptop was working using the wireless gateway on the modem and a Linksys wireless feature on the laptop. I have been unable to get my new Think Pad to operate with its built-in wireless feature.
The QWEST service person suggested I might have to turn off virus protection to establish a wireless conection and suggested I contact you to see if there is a compatibility problem.
Do you have any suggestions or thoughts on this? I have spent hours trying various approaches and am left frustrated!
Peter B Bandy

A:Wireless compatibility

Well the first thing to note are the different versions of wireless connections. They are all based on the 802.11 standard but there are different variants 'a', 'b', 'g', and soon to be 'n'.

'b' and g are compatible with each other, they just operate a different speeds. 'a' however, is not compatible with either 'b' or 'g', but 'n' is backwards compatible with all them. The first thing to check is whether or not your thinkpad has a compatible wireless card ('b' and 'g' are the most common).

Did you ever setup your modem's wireless gateway? There are a few options that could have a similar effect. You could have disabled the Broadcast SSID, you could have setup some type of encryption, or you could have mac filtering on. This would determine all on whether or not you configured them (or a family member maybe) because they do not come set like this initially.

hi all, does anybody knows how to skip the compatibility test during the windows upgrade installation? since i dont have cd/dvd rom, im running the setup from an iso setup file. When im trying to upgrade my windows, the compatibility report will appear and state that i need to use windows anytime upgrade to perform the upgrade. I dont want to use the Windows anytime upgrade, i just want to install by using the iso file..anyone can help me?

A:windows upgrade - skip compatibility test

Welcome to the Seven Forums! djyuno

The first question I could ask would be if you have a 4gb(recommended size) usb flash drive amd a system that supports booting from them. You could create a USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create

That would would allow you to perform a full clean install since you are lacking an optical drive. Perhaps you are running a netbook or laptop with broken drive or second hard drive? Mounting the iso on an external usb hard drive is another method used as well.

I have a Z420 (spec) with a Xeon E5-1650 3.2GHz processor.  This system has 8 DIMM slots with 4 channels per CPU. From what I understand, I must use ECC unbuffered DDR3-1600MHz memory for this system and CPU.  I currently have 16GB (8x2GB) and plan to upgrade to 32GB (8x4GB or 4x8GB).  The currently installed 2GB DIMMs are 1Rx8 PC3L-12800E (DDR3-1600) Unbuffered CAS-11 Low Voltage. Compatilbity questions:Is the new memory required to be "low voltage" like the old one?If I go with 8x4GB DIMMs, is it recommended that I buy a kit that comes with 8 DIMMs or is it the same to just buy 4 2x4GB kits.  (I was under the impression that it's the same but this forum post claims otherwise) When searching HP for server memory (search query), I found two ECC 4GB 1600MHz UDIMMs: 2Rx8 CAS-11 Low Voltage, and 2Rx8 CAS-11.  Both of them are $79. However, when searching HP for workstation memory (search query), I found the following ECC 4GB 1600MHz UDIMM: A2Z48AA.  This is $160 and doesn't mention the number of ranks or CAS latency. The workstation memory seems to twice as expensive.  Does anyone know how it's different?  Is it single rank vs dual rank for "server memories"? Performance questions:For maximum performance, do I need 8x4GB or would 4x8GB achieve the same performance. In the 4 DIMM configuration, since I'm putting one DIMM  in each channel, would 4 dual rank DIMMs be preferr... Read more

A:Z420 RAM upgrade compatibility and performance concerns

Newer Rams such as Kingston automatically support the CAS latency and they automatically adjust to the right specs and speed. You may go to the kingston side and select your RAM. On older workstations such as the XW4000 to the XW8000 this was critical due to the fact that the chips had a slighty higher heat development when running a longer time which resulted in unreliable operation during hard tasks. Non of this problems should occur with those workstation when using third party memory.

I have a bunch of Windows 7 computers at an office that all use a Radeon X1300. That card is preventing upgrades to Windows 10 now because it's apparently "not compatible" with Windows 10.

Testing one of the systems, I simply removed the X1300 card, put in a newer card, did the Windows 10 upgrade, put the X1300 back in, and then manually installed the newest available Windows 7 driver. Everything works great.

Rather than having to swap out each card in each system just to do the upgrade, is there any way I can simply bypass the compatibility check instead? Especially since I know the card will work just fine... These computers are just for basic web browsing and word processing anyway.

A:Any way to bypass Windows 10 upgrade compatibility check?

Try adding this to the registry in Windows 7:

Find the following key
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/WindowsUpdate/OSUpgrade

and add a 32-bit DWORD called AllowOSUpgrade and set it to a value of 1.

Hello guys,
I'm trying to do a repair install with Windows 7 (doing upgrade but having the same version) and at Compatibility report it says that it is recommended to uninstall the following:

ATI CATALYST Install Manager *
ATI Catalyst Control Center *
I've already done a previous Upgrade install but from another version (7100 to 7600) like a month ago and I didn't check the compatibility report and I've did it anyway and I didn't have any problems with the ATi Catalyst Control Center or the other one just to a program called MagicDisc (a virtual dvd manager).
So I'm a little worried about this and I don't wanna uninstall ATI catalyst center, so do you think it's not gonna happen anything again?

Thanks!

NOTE: I wanna do a upgrade install without uninstalling ATI Catalyst. I hope there won't be problems.

A:Windows 7 Upgrade Install Compatibility report

Welcome!

Don't worry about that. Of course the program is compatible, as testified to by the fact you are using it now!

I am using MagicDisc too, and despite the recommendation, I didn't remove it, and I haven't had any problems.

Do Win 10 major upgrade affect 3rd party software compatibility & so 3rd party software vendor have to keep up with the major upgrade like 1511, upcoming Redstone, etc...?

A:Win 10 major upgrade & 3rd party software compatibility

Security applications may be affected by Major Updates to Windows 10, otherwise all other software should work without a hitch.

For example:

The current version of your Antivirus or Suite may not be currently compatible, but during the month of Redstone release, the developers will push an update to support the latest major updates to Windows 10.

Overall, it's nothing to worry about.

I have two computers using wireless at home, one being a desktop and the other a laptop. The desktop has never had a wireless problem but the laptop drops the connection "randomly"--anywhere from 1 to 10+ times a day. In the router's log it says this at every disconnect: wl0: 11g : DeAuthentication (rcvd. station leaving). The signal strength is fine, and this seems to happen regardless of where the laptop is in my home. What really gets me is that I've taken this laptop to friends' homes and wifi hot spots and never had a problem. Does my laptop's adapter just hate my router?

Laptop has SMC 802.11g 108Mbps card.
Router is Buffalo Wireless-G MIMO.

Thanks in advance.

A:Wireless Compatibility Issue?

CrucDawg,

This is just a guess, but something I have seen before. There may be something with your security settings between your laptop and router. Perhaps if you blow away the wireless connection profile on the laptop and then rebuild it (or just create another one) it may solve your issue.

Good luck

Belkin PCi Card
Thanks.

EDIT: in case the links dont work:

Belkin 802.11g Wireless PCI Adapter

Yes. They're both IEEE 802.11g and so will be fine. A modem/router is a better option as it cuts out any problems interfacing with you modem.

I have a linksys broadband router (BEFSR41). I am thinking of getting wireless access point from dlink (DI9-900AP+). Hoave anyone tried this combination b4? I am afraid that if i buy oreadi and the two device don't work well, i will have problem exchanging or another AP. I am thinking of using a wireless card given to me by my fren. Its a Cisco aironet 350. Because all 3 products are of diff company, i am afraid of compatibility prolems later.

A:help on wireless compatibility issue

Believe it or not, you can actually shop around and buy a wireless router for less than the 900AP+, and have a much easier integrated configuration. Visit places like Pricewatch and check out wireless router prices, you'll be surprised. Also, you should check places like More Stuff4Less and see if there's any rebate deals to really make the price sweet.
